How would a female hero of courage interact with the chain?

Well- this is certainly a new type of Reader! I know I try to keep Reader as gender neutral as possible so this kinda defeats the purpose... but just once won’t hurt anyone. Consider it done anon!

It'll be in headcanon form. I hope that's ok.

Drinks his respect women juice every morning like Uli taught him

And Ilia wouldn’t hear any complaints of it as they grew up

Midna made sure he kept up with his routine

And Zelda was the final nail on the coffin

Can’t say no to whatever she requests

Wild teases him a lot

And by teases, I mean secretly complains

“You let her get away it!”

“Yeah Cub, because I know she wouldn’t hesitate to throw me over her shoulder and call it a day. I’m not getting in her way.”

Doesn’t pay too much attention to it

Frankly, care less about that and more about her age

If she’s younger, she’s getting the same treatment as the rest of the youngins

If she’s older, then the more power to her

She can get away with much more

He’s soft

While others may forget, he tries to keep in mind her need for privacy and space from the boys

Especially since she’s the only girl

On her team, 98% of the time

Warrior

Oh no another one

It’s Linkle all over again

Or so he thinks

Protective to a fault, poor guy

But he’s just Like That TM

Reader would gather really quickly it’s because he cares and not because of anything else

He does the same to Wind and Twilight and Legend and even Time

Warrior is used to female fighters so this isn’t anything for him to blink at

Have you seen his game? It’s like three males total- him included, villains not included

How much do you want to bet that Warrior also knows someone from Reader’s adventure?

You know.... for flavor :D

Warrior is quick to make them feel a part of the team and respected

Warrior is the first one to ask for their opinion on matters and Reader always comes up with a point he (and others) were missing

“Thanks Girlie. I knew you were brought with us for a reason. Glad to know that you’re on our side.”

Big Brother Warrior adopts another one. A Saga

Legend

Is not above sacrificing her to do the work so that he can get out of it

Challenges her at nearly every turn

Even more so than Warrior

And it’s not because she’s female

It’s just that it’s activating his sibling behavior with a vengeance and he’s going to make it her problem

Reader found him annoying, pessimistic, dramatic and hard to get along with

It was like cats and dogs

Even if Legend actually likes her

However Reader gets talked down to in public and Legend goes off

Completely tearing the offender to shreds with his words alone- although he’s tempted to do so physically as well

Reader doesn’t think he’s so bad after that

They judge people outfits together, you honor

They are each other’s ride or die

Legend gets to the point where she’s the only one he listens to without question

The Chain try and get her to talk to Legend when they’re trying to prank him

Reader agrees more than half of the time

Hyrule

A bit of a lost cause...

Has no idea how to approach this

Hella awkward- poor guy

Ignores it on principle

Treats her like one of the guys, only be reminded that she’s not a guy

It’s like a slap in the face every time- he tries so hard to just be normal

Give him a break he’s not used to people as it is

At least the people he’s met so far are nice and she’s nice and different from any of them

Doesn’t want to treat her like glass

Doesn’t want to be too overbearing in a group full of guys

Doesn’t want to treat her as an outcast

Doesn’t want to intrude on her personal space

Is he over thinking it? Oh yeah defiantly

Another hero that means well but is in uncharted territory

However, he’s never been afraid of uncharted territory before and this is no different

He’ll figure it out

Just give him some time

Wind

Big sister?

Someone as cool and kick butt as Tetra?

But like him? With the courage and the whole... not being like the others for whatever reason?

Admiration and following like a puppy

He looks up to the older heroes and obviously tries to emulate them

But something about her hits different

And he wants to do the same

It’s a shame he doesn’t know what it is

Wind is going to talk her ear off

(I hope she has the patients for him XD)

As he can see that Reader is older, he wants to ask questions about his sister, like why girls do x? Or y? Or z?

You know, things that they have in common but for the life of him, he doesn’t know why

So he might as well ask right?

Besides, if he asked Aryll, she might give him a half answer or not even know herself

But Reader should know, he trusts Reader’s judgment

Wild

Younger sister?

Hello? My old heart? How have you been?

He’s going to project so much

He means well by the end of the day and frankly it doesn’t matter if this hero is older than him

He has vague memories of a younger sister and it’s going to eat him alliiivvee

Gives her the best portions of food obviously and naturally serves her first

Will want to go horse back riding with her whether she knows how to or not

He can teach her! He can do archery with her! And sword fighting and shield surfing and cooking and and and and-

So long as his weapons and equipment don’t break on him anyway

He’s going to badger her about keeping her hair in decent condition and offering to braid it or brush it or just put it up for her

Who cares if he still has twigs and junk in his hair? That’s not his point

Is he a hypocrite? ... Just a bit

Might show off from time to time by taking wild animals momentarily just so she can pet them

Cut to Wild riding into camp on a bear

“Sissy! Look what I found!”

“Cub! Put him back!” Said literally everyone in the group.

“He’ll go back home on his own soon enough. I gave him honey glazed salmon as a treat. He’s so soft. Come see!”

Four

Well he just found his new best friend

Second to Zelda, of course

Is the one to ask for help with pranking people (mostly Legend) 

Together, they nearly get away with it every time

Does she know blacksmithing? Is that a thing they teach the girls where she’s from?

It’s likely that she doesn’t

Oh well! Four is just going to have to make sure she’s taken care of

Very protective of her

Is going to get in her way multiple times

But in an accidentally on purpose sort of way

He gets stomped on, trampled and run over more times than he wishes to admit

He knows she can take care of herself, she’s just as much of a hero as all of them are

But Four sees her and sees Zelda and he gets this urge to keep her away from danger at all costs

It’s annoying

But they laugh and poke fun and he tries to tackle her for the hell of it and never succeeds

He means well, but that’s a conversation about to happen

It’s somewhere on the horizon

Time

Oh thank god, someone who knows what they’re doing

Do they? 

Who knows. But Time is going to use their ability to wrangle the boys to his advantage because honestly?

It’s like herding cats otherwise

Or cuccos- at least he has experience with that

Doesn’t think too much of it

Also takes to her on the spot

The change of energy is nice but he’s to reassure her when the case may be

Like when the boys are a bit much or when they’re teasing her

Time says near the beginning of the trip that if they bug her too much to tell him and he’ll set them straight

Not to say that she can’t do it herself but honestly- why should she have to?

Clearly she’s been through enough as it is

They both spend quiet time together

May have fallen asleep on each other at some point

Denies it but also has a picture hidden somewhere in his belongs

No one knows who he stole it from because at least three of them have a copy

And yet he never approached them for it

The mysteries add on with The Old Man

Sky

Literally no different

This guy could not care less

Forgets half of the time

It’s not something he would pay attention to

Has to be genuinely reminded at least once

He’s used to being the “mom friend” so if they help out in that regard Sky is going to give them brownie points

Because these boys don’t care about those things and Sky is tired of having to remind people to chew with their mouth closed-

Help him

He can’t do this alone

Has to be prepared for all things all the time

If Reader could just lighten the load a little bit he would be eternally grateful

He would tell her story for years to come

Granted, he was going to talk about his friends anyway but this one takes special precedence

Is the one she vents to without a second thought

If she can help carry his role in the group than he can be there as her support as well

There’s no difference between the lives of heroes

It’s hard on everyone

You know something I always really liked about Lu is whenever Time is a main focus. Wind and Warriors aren't to far behind. Like when Malon is trying to figure out which ones their future family. Its both Warrior and Winds images side by side.

I just think its neat. How, not only are the three, war brothers but how Time goes out of his way to tease Warrior and train and mentor Wind. And in return Wind is always really close to Times side, and is ready to block and protect him.

I just like their dynamic and how the comic doesn't go over the top with it.

The Chain with a almost god like giant titan like Creature s/o reader.

Sorry that's a mouthful!

Like, they look human but are huge and have different kind of things about them that Hylians don't have. (Also,imagine the heros are so tiny compared to their s/o. Like Sky is like telling the Chain. But their in awe of the enormous creature that sky has been gushing about 10 times a hour.)

If you thought that a typical s/o for the smithy would have made him smaller....

He is dwarfed by comparison

Scorpion legs, mandibles, a spiked tail and as big as a house

Four proudly presents them to the group with the biggest flourished gesture he can do

“And I love them very much.” He says proudly.

The group is all silent

They click their mandibles in nervousness. “Um... So how do you do? Link has told me much about you all in his letters.”

Sky breaks out of it first. “We’re all alright. Four speaks about you a lot as well. e just weren’t anticipating you to be so-”

“Freaky?” They say quietly, causing Four to snap his head in their direction- words of rebuttal already on his tongue.

“Big.” Sky amends. “I was going to say big... Especially when he’s so...”

Four turns back to Sky with a glare. “Say it.”

Sky huff. “Look, Wind is taller than you. I thought it would have been someone I would have been able to look in the eye when you said they were bigger than you.”

Four splutters and tries to think of a comeback

It lessens to tension and Wild and Hyrule both step forward to introduce themselves

Time and Warrior give a small bow in respect

Wind run to try and climb on top of them 

Twilight stops him before he can actually get away with it

Legend has been facepalming the entire time

His hand slides down his face slowly and he cuff Four by the side of his head. “When you say they get hungry easy it’s because you have mint on your porch. It keeps the spiders away-”

“Oh!” They perk up. “Is that why they don’t come by any more? I was wondering why it seemed like there were more bugs than usual. They’re not as filling.”

Legend gives Four a ‘I-Told-You-So’ look

Four says nothing 

Hyrule

He had no problem with it!

“Hey guys! We’re about to meet the sweetest person in this entire planet. I can’t wait for you guys to see them.”

“Slow down Traveler.” Legend laughs. “We don’t know this place as well as you do- we might not be able to keep up.”

“Honey?” A voice speaks. It’s quiet and surreal- like multiple voices speaking at once. “Is that you?”

Traveler beams. “It’s me! I’m home! Come meet my friends!”

They step out. Multiple eyes blink slowly and feathered hands come in front of them in a nervous manner. They are giant.

Legend pauses. Where would he have seen this creature before? If he has anyway...

Sky smiles pleasantly and walks up slowly. “Hello there. Link’s told us a lot about you.”

Hyrule coughs. He didn’t. He doesn’t know why Sky is lying.

Time steps forward as well. “Good to meet you. I was wondering who was taking good care of him back home.”

Hyrule flushes. This isn’t what he was expecting.

“You know what...” Wild sighs. “I can’t even say I’m surprised. Call me Wild. We’re all friends of your Link.”

They smile. “Yes... My Link... Has he been behaving himself?”

Four nods. “Yup! He’s been a great help to all of us.”

Wind and Warrior both come up next to the hero in question and clap him on the shoulders. “We adore him.”

His partner smiles gently. “We share the same sentiment then.”

Twilight hasn’t said much but he stares at Hyrule with the stare of a thousand suns.

Hyrule clears his throat and tries to ease his embarrassment. “My home is nearby. We can all go there before the storm hits.”

They nod and reach their hand out.

Hyrule takes it without hesitation.

“Let’s go then.”

Legend

Legend was a bit nervous to introduce his s/o

They were huge

With multiple arms and multiple pairs of eyes

But they were so cute

Ignoring they were twice the size of a hinox

His hinox’ anyway

Wild’s are the largest he’s ever seen

Twilight sighs exasperatedly

“Spiders again”

Legend bites his lip

Wild and Four stare, wide eyed, jaw agape and say nothing

Hyrule is instead staring at Legend and Legend doesn’t know what to make of it

Time bites the bullet and holds out his hand

Warrior and Wild follow suit without question

They all shakes hands at the same time

“Hello” They say

Sky waves with a smile

“Thank you for looking after Link.” They say softly

Legend blushes and playfully swipes at them, only annoyed at the surface

“Hey-!... I can take care of myself. ...You know that.”

“Hmm... I feel better... knowing you’re not alone anymore.”

Everyone jumps on to let them know everything is ok

Legend sighs in relief

That... went a bit better than he thought it would

Sky

A bit nervous

But mostly because he doesn’t want anyone to say anything mean

If they do, he’s throwing hands

He’s done it before he’ll do it again

“Ok, Beloved... You can come out now.” He says softly.

They step out in all their ethereal glory

There’s the size of the two story house with wings and glowing silver eyes

There’s red and blue markings on their face

Time is getting flashbacks

Warrior is also having flashbacks

Twilight is watching Time and Warrior with interest 

Wild and Legend share and look

Sudden dread and uncertainty over take them

Hyrule marches right up and sticks his hand out. “Hi.”

They smiles and shake it. “How do you do?”

Wind tilts his head. “How do you do what?”

Four shrugs and also goes to introduce himself. “Sky won’t shut up about you. You’re just as impressive as he said.”

They actually flush a little and look away. “He’s always talked a bit more than he knows what to do with. I’m sure he exaggerated a lot of things.”

Legend coughs. “I’d argue he understated a lot of things.”

Sky deadpans. “Gee, I wonder why.”

They laugh like church bells. “I can see why Link likes you all so much. Would you like a tour?”

Time

No longer cares about other people’s opinion

It’s not the boys believed him in other thing that he’s told them

So he’s kept this one close to his chest

He opens the doors to his home where you’re waiting in the living room

Time has also long given up on asking how you fit through the door

Four’s and Wild’s jaws hang wide open

Twilight actually trips over himself and falls backwards

This explains some things...but now he just has more questions

Like.. why the third eye? or the wings? and scales? and clubbed tail?

“Uh... Old Man...?”

“Oh it’s you! My boy!” They cry. “I know my babies where ever they are! I didn’t think you were serious dear!”

Time takes offense

“I told you. Of all things, this is the one you don’t believe?”

Cue Sky and Warrior looking between Twilight and Time, putting the pieces together but only becoming more confused in the process.

Legend sighs and flops in on himself.

“This might as well happen.”

Hyrule slaps him over the head

Sky bite his lip and waves a bit

He chuckles a bit out of nervousness

“We’ve heard... about you..”

“Have you?” They lean in

“Technically?”

They laugh

“It’s ok. Link doesn’t want any undue harm to come my way. He’s very protective like that. Come in! Come in! I’ll make some tea.”

Twilight

Just like how he was nervous to show his form as Wolfie, he’s actively trying to lighten the blow when the group meets his s/o

“Ok, so just so you guys know, they’re... bigger than normal... and may not be what you’re expecting.”

“Should we be scared?” Legend raises an eyebrow.

Twilight winces. “Well I would rather you not be. It would be a bit rude even if you can’t help it.” 

Time puts his hand hand on Twilight’s shoulder. “If they’re important to you, we’ll be on our best behavior. Isn’t that right boys?”

Wild grins and gives a salute.

Warrior smirks and nods.

“Who’s important to Link?” A new voice says.

All heads snap in that direction

Large antlers and fangs, scales and tethers and a few feathers coat their body

Wind and Sky stare wide eyed

Hyrule blinks and punches Legend

“Oh my..” They say

“Pleasure to meet you!” Four gathers his wits first, hand already out to shake. “Your Link has talked a lot about you. All good things.”

They flush in a way that looks abnormal. “Oh... Oh my goodness- Ok. He always does this. I’m sorry if I’m not exactly what you were expecting.”

“Nothing could have prepared us for this.” Legend blurts

Hyrule glares at him

Legend flinches away

Twilight coughs. “Guy this is __”

They wave. “...Nice to meet you.”

Time bites his lip for a moment, letting it process before he gestures to Wild. “We brought lunch if you’re willing to join us.”

“Well that sounds lovely!”

Warrior

Warrior was practically avoiding it

Like bits and pieces, he would reveal

But never about their physical appearance

So when They finally appear with antlers, wings, and fur

Warrior waits with baited breath

Time sends Warrior a knowing look that he knows he’ll pay for later

Wild is the first to say something as he eagerly introduces himself

Twilight follows suit with Wind right on his metaphorical tail

Hyrule approaches hesitantly but is polite none the less

Sky stays a bit behind as Time goes in to say hello again

Four and Legend feel like they’re seen weirder and Warrior speaks well of them enough

“Hello again Little one.” They say patting Time on the head

“Not so little anymore.”

“Still little to me.”

“So how did you and Warrior meet?” Legend cocks a hip, eyebrow raised and all.

They smile, showing their multiple canines. “He shot me.”

“I told you, I’m sorry!” Warrior groans. “That’s not exactly what happened anyway.”

They giggle. “They call you Warrior now? I wasn’t aware your war merits carried over through time.”

“It’s... not that necessarily.” He blushes.

“He’s also called the Captain.” Wind raises his hand, thinking that it would to catch their attention.

“...Strange... That’s not his position here.”

“HO-KAY! Introductions are over! Who wants lunch?” Warrior yells louder than he needs to.

His S/O is going to embarrass him badly before he leaves

That’s the plan

Wild

He sees nothing with it

He doesn’t even think that it would register as strange to the others

“Link?” They call out. “Oh Link you’re back! Thank goodness you’re alright!”

Wild perks up and snaps his head in the direction of the voice.

He runs to them

The others pause and watch

They come out and pick Wild up as if he was only a bag of grapes

“Oh , I was so worried about you! Have you been taking care of yourself like you promise? I thought you would have been away for longer.”

Wild laugh and kisses them on their nose. “I’ve been just fine. I want you to meet my new friends.”

Twilight coughs and catches their attention. He waves.

“Oh!” Their second pair of arms comes up to cover their mouth. “Oh how rude of me. How do you do?”

Legend blinks. “How do you do what?”

They giggle. It sounds like thunder and their tail flickers playfully behind them.

They set Wild down. “How are you?”

“Fantastic, all things considered.” Warrior has to crane his neck up just to look at their face. “How did you and Champion meet?”

“Oh that’s a long story-”

“Let’s go in side first.” Wild interjects, a wide smile on his face. “I can start lunch and we can all get comfortable in the living room, yeah?”

Time seems amused, if a bit perplex. “Of course, Cub. Lead the way.”

“Cub?” They turn to Wild. “That’s precious.”

“Let’s gooo...” Wild coughs. His cheeks are a but pink.

From the looks of Four, Hyrule and Wind.... they’re never going to let him live that down.

Wind 

(Not really s/o... more like best friend... maybe when they’re older but as it stands-)

Wind was going to blow their mind

His surprise is probably going to get him serious street cred

He was going to introduce them to every one and he was going to get all their reactions saved in his pictobox!

Wind stands in front of everyone, pictobox ready and tells you to come say hi

Longer than normal arms, thirty fingers, sunken eyes and moss for hair- and tall

Wind snaps the picture of his buddies

They’re going to love this later on

They already giggle and wave

Wild, Hyrule and Legend numbly wave back

“Hello!” You grin.

Time sits down

Wind grins as well and jumps onto their arm

He climbs up

“This is my friend! The one I was telling you guys about!” He says proudly. “Aren’t they cool?”

“...Very cool Sailor...” Warrior cranes his head up.

“Um.... So... how have you been?” Four tries for normal conversation. 

He tries the old friend approach.

“Oh you knooww~~ Burrowing in the sand, taking in the sun, dragging sailors underwater, having tea parties with the locals. Same old, same old.”

“What was that one you just said?”

“Taking in the sun?”

“After that.”

“The tea parties? Oh! We should have one! I was about to have lunch anyway. Why don’t you call come over? Since you’re friends with Link, we can be friends too.”

Twilight smiles tensely. “...Sure... We’d love to.”

Okay I'm incredibly curious. If you're in the linked universe fandom what legend of zelda games do you own, playing through/played, beat, and don't have.

For me

Own:

Spirit Tracks, Four Swords, Link to the Past, Links Awakening, Oracle of ages & Seasons. Minish Cap, Majora's Mask 3D, Ocarina of Time 3D, Hyrule Warriors for the DS.

Played/Playing Through:

Windwaker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Majora's Mask for the N64, Ocarina of Time for the N64, Four Swords adventure GameCube, Link between worlds.

Beat:

Breath of the Wild.......Okay but I'm also really close to beating Windwaker and Minish Cap!

Don't have (but my brothers do, and I can play when I'm home)

The rest....like no I'm being serious.

Do to all the tags on my Wind wearing a island fit and not a pirate fit I've been inspired to quickly write this.

It was late and all the heroes had decided to turn in. Slowly undressing into more appropriate sleeping attire. All accept the sailor. He simply, continued on with his conversation with Hyrule.

Twilight shot a look towards the old man. Time rolled his eyes, but did as he was asked. "Young ones, why don't you get ready for bed? We're planning on rising early and we all need plenty of rest." Smiling at his youngest members.

Wind nodded his head, sliding off his shoes and belt. Then headed for the bed he was assigned to at the inn.

"Ummm sailor?" Twilight question, "aren't you going to get into your pajamas?" The older hero titled his head.

Wind looked equal as confused. "I am?"

All hero's eyes were on him.

"What?" The boy let out sheepishly.

"That's the tunic you been traveling in?" Four stated the obvious.

"Yes? And these are my pajamas...." Wind expressed embarrassed. This is what he was wearing when he went through the portal. He had just woken up when it appered.

"Oh my gosh this makes so much more sense now!" Warrior put his hands to his face.

All of them had wondered why wind had such thin garments. They had just assumed it was a sailor thing.

"Tomorrow we're going shopping!" Wild cheered. Throwing a arm over the boys shoulders.

"Did, did you guys really not know?" The boy was dumbfounded.

"I mean I thought it was a little weird." Hyrule explained, "but legend doesn't wear pants, so I just assumed it couldn't be weirder then that."

"HEY!" Legend cried, offended.

You guys I’m so excited! I’m almost done with my latest fic!  It’s the Deaging one.  So to spoiler a little about it.  Wind, Four, Hyrule, find all of their companions as 6 and under. 

There is a very brief scene where a six year old Legend is holding a 2 year old Warrior. Also little Wild does not talk rather makes animal noises, and Twilight has a lisp. 

So yeah ALMSOT THERE BABY!

All right guys question, I'm rereading What do You do With Drunken Sailor again.

As the author I'm like, hmmm I could have done that better.

Hihi I saw that you opened your Ask I wish to make an ask/request. The chain x (platonic) gn child reader. Who is kinda like a zombie. But not the scary kind? They’re just very forgetful like they forget basically everything they learned the day before. And just have a constant blank expression.

The day was cloudy, wet and cold.

Our group of heroes woke up wanting to curse its existence and return to their bed rolls undisturbed. But it was raining.

With loud groans and a few curses here and there, the group get up, wring what they can and clean up their makeshift camp. Everybody had to be accounted for and a headcount was drawn up.

There was one individual that not only were they unbothered by the rain and the wet cloth that surrounded them, but they happened to still be asleep.

A sigh came from assigned older brother number one and he slumped over himself. “I don’t want to wake them up.”

“You have to.” Four huffed, spitting his hair out of his face. “We’re all going to get sick if we stay here.”

Warriors groaned louder and moved to the little one, still wrapped up. They looked so peaceful. Warrior hated for his next action but in the back of his mind, he doubted they would mind. It was always so hard to read them. He gently shakes their shoulder and the child blinks. A breath is taken in and they look up, raindrop falling from their lashes onto the their pillow.

“Good morning.” Warrior says softly. “We have to leave and get dry. Come on.”

Their resident child takes a moment to look around, slowly, a bit unnaturally before they sit up. They rub their eyes and yawn. They are continuously unbothered by the raining that is pouring around them, and although Warrior attempts to be patient, his scarf is getting heavy around his neck.

The kid looks back at Warrior and reaches out with both arms. The universal signal for up. Warrior is quick to comply. He picks them up with practiced ease and settles them against his back. He has to make some adjustment to his uniform and scarf in order to not get choked on the journey a head of them, but he does it all without complaint.

Twilight doesn’t hesitate to take over the bed roll and blankets the child and Captain left behind. He does his best to get all the water out before putting them away and hitches it to Epona. He looks fondly at their newest and youngest companion. They don’t speak and they don’t sign, so the group knows nothing about them. But they were sick and wounded with no one around for miles.

With a sigh, a little puff of air dances around Twilight, his breath clouding in front of him. He take out a few scraps of cloth from a separate bag entirely. Old clothes that had to be cut down after they were rendered useless reside there, but surely there has to be something big enough to fit the kid.

No such luck. At least nothing that would fix the immediate issue. With time and space, maybe they can stich something together but as it stands....

Twilight takes a larger bit of cloth, one that he has no recollection of getting or who it belongs to and makes his way to the Captain. The child is beginning to fall asleep once more even as they begin to move. Twilight knows that if he does this, it wouldn’t help the Captain at all. He matches Warrior’s pace and drapes the cloth over the child. He tucks in it certain point and wraps it around their shoulder, making a makeshift hooded shawl to keep the rain off them until they can find decent shelter and hopefully keep the chill off of them as well.

Warrior makes no comment but Twilight can feel the annoyed side eyes he’s given before he’s done.

Time watches and the boy all work around each other and help one another to make sure nothing is left behind and that everyone is taken care of. He makes a small check over each and every one of them. They are all tired still, wet and annoyed, but he supposes that it’s inevitable.

He walks past, Warrior as he carries their little bundle on his back and pauses to ruffle their hair. They look up at him blearily, before they smile. It’s small and almost invisible, but Time is trained to view invisible things. He smiles back and drops his hand. “Good morning little one.”

Time doesn’t get a response and the child goes back to resting on Warrior as they had before but Time knows that he’s been heard.

He ruffles Warrior’s hair for good measure and moves on before the young captain can take a swing at him.

Wind bounces up to the duo. “If we’re lucky, the rain won’t turn into a hurricane.”

Warrior scoffs. “We’re about as inland as it gets, I don’t think hurricanes a problem here.”

Wind pouts and looks up to the little one above him. “In my Hyrule, it rained so much that the world was flooded. I’ve only known the Great Sea.”

“Sailor-”

“It’s a reasonable concern, don’t you think?” Wind grins at the child before turning to Warrior. “They agree with me.”

Warrior can’t help it. He laughs. “Uh-huh, I’m sure they do.”

Wild passes pieces of bread to the group, since there wasn’t enough time to cook something substantial and he doesn’t know when he’ll get the chance to start a fire again. The others say their thanks and go back to their own conversations. By the tie he hands Wind and Warrior their shares, he’s beginning to run low. 

He splits the last piece in half and eats his in just a few bites. Wild grin at the little one before holding the last piece out for them. They don’t take it- but Wild expected as much. Undeterred, he reaches out with his other hand and pokes their cheek. As if it was a switch, their mouth opens and Wild breaks off a bit of the bread for them to eat. He places it gently in their mouth and they chew.

Sky and Hyrule watch the scene with fluttering hearts. They may not know much about who the child is or where they came from, even less so about why they were alone and hurt, but they both vow to look after them. No words are exchanged between them but they do watch with amusement glittering in their eyes when Twilight dumps some old shirt from Hyrule on to Legend.

“Can you make a shirt for them out of this?” The older hero says and Legend frowns. Studying the cloth with a judgmental glare. “This wont keep out the cold.”

“Layers exist.” Twilight reminds him with a deadpan expression.

Legend scowls and glares up at the sky for good measure. “Fine. But it’s going to be choppy.”

“It just needs to fit.”

Four snickers at Legend’s reaction and rolls his eyes. Taking out an extra tunic from his own bag, he walks over and hands it to Time. He’s not going to stop them from volunteering their own clothes to be tailored, but he is the closest to their size without any extra work.

“When Legend is done, give this to the youngen’. It should fit.” Four hands the cloth over, trying to be mindful of the still falling water from the sky. Time takes it, looks behind him to see Legend already working with a thread and needle and nods towards Four.

“When he’s done, of course.”

“Yup.” Four grins back. “They don’t have much going for them anyway, so every little bit helps.”

“I couldn’t agree more.” The Old Man smirks and pockets the tunic away before anyone else can see.

There isn’t much for them to do except make sure that the child’s wounds heal nicely and that they stay warm and well fed. It’s not easy when the competition is six other growing, teenage boys who eat their weights with in food every three days.

But if Time looks close enough, watching as the child eats the last of the little bread wild gives to them. There’s a warmth behind those otherwise blank eyes.

They’re going to be ok.
