Random One Shot/Drabble I made instead of studying — Nero messing with Yamato

(I might revisit this some day as a serious story idea...but for now, it’s just a silly little drabble full of sitcom-style goofiness. Enjoy!)

So you know how in DMC5, V looks like Eva (Dante and Vergil’s mother), right?

And you know how Nero has no idea who his mother is, right?

And how, since Nero is only 1/4 demon, his human self would theoretically look even MORE like his mother, right?

That’s exactly what was going through Nero’s mind one day after Vergil and Dante returned from hell, and it gave him an idea: what if he split himself with Yamato — just for a few minutes — and had Nico snap a quick photo of his human half’s face? It was stupid, reckless, and incredibly risky; he knew that. But it was also the only clue Nero had about what his mother may have looked like; not even Vergil had a clear mental image of her, and he rather bluntly told Nero that he was too drunk to remember the one-night stand when he asked. Nero knew it was risky, but he had to at least give it a shot; it was the only way he’d ever satisfy his curiosity.

Eventually, Nero devised a plan: he would wait for Vergil to leave Yamato unattended, steal the katana and open a portal to Fortuna, split his human and demon halves, have Nico quickly take the snapshot, fuse himself back together before things could get too out-of-hand, and open a portal to return the Yamato before Vergil would even know it was missing.

Little did he realize, however, that nothing would go as planned.

At first, Nero simply tried to borrow Yamato while Vergil wasn’t using it, but he quickly realized that Vergil never left it unattended and always had it on his person. So, he went to plan B: steal the Yamato while Vergil wasn’t looking. The result was a montage of overly-elaborate schemes that slowly descended into Looney Tunes-level madness, but alas, they all turned up fruitless. Finally, after the 17th unsuccessful attempt, Nero threw in the towel and just knocked Vergil out with his Bringer Claws, stealing his katana as soon as he was rendered unconscious.

Once he had Yamato in hand, Nero eagerly began to make his first portal — something he had wanted to try ever since he met Vergil, but he never wanted to admit. He tried (keyword: tried) to make a simple portal to Fortuna, but one accidental slip-up led to another, and the next thing Nero knew, he had accidentally created a miniature black hole that threatened to destroy the whole office. Needless to say, once he *finally* managed to get rid of it, Nero was just like “...nOPE FUCK THIS SHIT” and had Nico pick him up instead.

When they (finally) arrived in Fortuna, Nero and Nico went right to work setting everything up in the garage, taking every possible precaution to make sure there was NO WAY Nero’s demon half could escape. Nero was literally seconds away from stabbing himself with Yamato when Kyrie suddenly opened the door to check on him, and he spazzed out like a Studio Ghibli character. Nero yeeted the katana across the room before Kyrie had the chance to see it, and he hurriedly (and apologetically) pushed her out the door, making up some bullshit excuse about Nico working with explosive materials before locking the door with the deadbolt.

Ironically, splitting himself and taking his picture was the easiest part of the whole ordeal. On one hand, Nero’s demon half was surprisingly complacent; he didn’t really care about escaping as long as Kyrie was safe, and he was more than willing to cooperate. On the other hand, Nero had forgotton that V was naked when he first manifested, so when his human half flew out of him like a backwards bullet and skidded to a stop in front of Nico, he was mortified to discover that she had a clear view of everything he had. Thankfully, Nico shrugged it off with a disinterested “Eh, I’ve seen bigger,” and snapped a photo of his reddening face without a second thought.

Fusing himself back together was also surprisingly easy. Nero’s human half didn’t even have to stab his demon half like V did Urizen; in fact, they were so in-sync that all it took was the sound of Kyrie’s voice for them to recombine. They both ran up to the door in perfect unison and scrambled to unlock the deadbolt, and by the time Kyrie opened the door, Nero was completely whole again and greeting her with a smile. He quickly came up a makeshift explanation for why they were working with “explosive materials” and assured Kyrie that everything was going safely, which thankfully put Kyrie’s worries to rest. Meanwhile, Nico casually slid the Yamato under the van with her foot and whistled nonchalantly in the background, hoping Kyrie wouldn’t notice. (Somehow, by the sheer grace of Sparda, she didn’t.)

When it was all said and done, Nero and Nico drove back to Red Grave City in the Devil May Cry van. Nero spent the entire ride back studying the snapshot with fascination, taking in every last detail of his human half and comparing it to his face in the rear-view mirror. Meanwhile, Nico took no time at all to start teasing him, playfully quipping that even his big scary demon half was a soft little kitten for Kyrie.

It definitely wasn’t easy, but they did it, and now Nero had a 75% accurate image of what his mother looked like — 75% more than he had to begin with, Nero figured, and that made it a success in his book.

Finally, they arrived back at the main branch, just in time to see...

Vergil.

Fully conscious.

Armed with the sharpest and deadliest weapon he could find hanging around the office.

And he definitely wasn’t happy.

Nero and Nico didn’t even bother to try and confront him; Nero just chucked Yamato out the window and yelled “FLOOR IT, NICO!” as she hurriedly drove away.

(A/N): I’m very very sorry for the wait!!! hope you like it!!! Sorry again..

At 8:30am the alarm sounded in your house you quickly got up and dressed for work, as an interviewer you were very busy and though you were exhausted when you got home, at least you got rest. You really enjoyed this job, you got to interview many celebrities, but the problem is the fact that you couldn’t see your boyfriend Jim since you usually had 5 or more interviews. After you finished getting ready you made your way to the door where Jim was waiting in his black T-shirt and gray sweatpants with his hair messy as usual you smirked at him, he lifted an eyebrow in confusion.

“What is it?..” he asked

You chuckled before responding, “ You look so adorable...”

He blew you a raspberry and chuckled, then paused for a sec before lunging at you and picking you up by the waistline.

You were blushing madly by being taken off guard “J-Jim what are you-?!”

He pouted, holding you tighter, “It’s no fair...we don’t have time for each other anymore...”

You were taken by surprise, you respond with; “ We’ll make time don’t worry...we always do...”.

He softly put you down, his arms were still around your waist. He let out a sign before replying, “I need to try and clear my schedule...”

“Will you be busy today?...” you asked with slight concern

He looked down worryingly for a moment before meeting your eyes “...yeah I’ll be busy”

you paused “okay, go knock em’ dead!” you quickly flashed him a bright smile while giving him a goofy thumbs up.

He paused looking at you and gave you a quick chuckle before wrapping his warm, soft hands in your small cold ones and you blushed hard.

“hehe your hands are always so cold...” he softy smirked, and you looked away in embarrassment blushing.

He then took hold of your face and started applying messy kisses all over your face while saying how much he loved you, you giggled and blushed at his actions, it was so lovingly and it filled your heart with joy. After you bid your goodbyes and love yous, you left to work happily but also upset since you would much rather stay home and cuddle with him all day but you can’t you both are busy with your jobs. Since it was announced that he was starting in the new sonic movie playing the mad doctor Robotnik, neither one of you had time to spend with the other. Jim was the one who was the most busy and he didn’t come home until really late, and it did make you feel left out. But you were proud of him for going back in the spotlight and proceeding with acting.

Later around 4:00pm you were driving back home and entered the key in the lock and softly opened the door, as you walked in you were hit with cool breeze that sent goosebumps on your back making you shiver and it was clear that Jim wasn’t there. You decided to use this time and take a very long hot shower, after that you checked the time 5:40pm you shrugged deciding to fix the bed. When you were finished threw yourself on the couch watching tv, then you dried yourself and dressed in your pjs. You grabbed a large party bag of (F/C) [favorite chips] and plopped on the couch, as time passed by you put the chips back and were still there watching [your favorite show/ movie]. You glanced at the time 7:36pm, you signed deeply before you could even move a muscle the door blew off slamming against the wall you swear it broke off, and you screamed while you yeeted yourself off the couch. You looked at the person mad enough to do something like that and!..... It was Jim.

“What the fu-?!” Before you could talk or process what was happening Jim dashed at you carrying you bridal style and ran pass the hallway and threw himself along with you in the bed.

“I’m back!” He said confidently with a goofy smile

After you were done processing what happened you stood there shock still clearly on your face, he glanced at you and froze and he immediately started to apologize

“I-I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you I was just e-excited to be back with you....I missed you...”

Your shock slowly faded and while squeezing the bridge of your nose you replied , “it’s ok...j-just don’t go that again..”

“Okay okay...I’m sorry....” he trailed off before wrapping his arms around your waist and nuzzles his face on your neck, you giggled softly as his prickly jaw touched your neck.

“Tell me you missed me!” He yelled as he got on top of you and started to tickling your sides

“Ah n-no hahahahaha!” You tried to curl up and push him off but you were powerless over him.

“Say it!” Jim demanded as he continued until your stomach started to ache making it hard for you to breath.

“Ok ok I missed you!” You yelled breathless, as you control your breathing Jim chuckled releasing you. You looked up at him in questioning look as Jim sat up crossing his legs and placing his hands on his hips confidently.

“Hahaha you’re too easy (Y/N).” He said smirking full of cockiness. An idea popped in your head and a devilish smirk appeared on your face.

“Oh yeah?...” you snap at him as if challenging him. You then pushed him back making him stumble back falling into the bed, next you got on top of him while lifting up his shirt and placed messy kisses on his stomach and demanding him to not do it again.

“Hahaha! Okay I won’t scare you like that again I promise! I’ll even f-fix the door Hahah-no s-stop!” He begged for you to stop and you did and waited for him to catch his breath, once he had laid there for a while before gently grabbing you and laying you on top of him. As you layer there on his warm chest you listened to his heartbeat it was like a lullaby and it made you feel cozy and sleepy, you nuzzled against him enjoying the peace and quiet until Jim spoke up.

“Why don’t you call in tomorrow?...you can come with me on set and get to see me with a sexy mustache~...” you felt his gaze on you.

You chuckled “ok I will and I might want to see you in a sexy mustache...” You moved up and laid your head on his shoulders and gently glazed your fingers against his stomach, Jim placed a soft kiss on your cheek as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders.

“What you might?” He looked at you in disbelief and shock. You giggled at his reaction and wrapped you arms around him like a baby sloth.

“Of course I do! I’m joking” Jim flashes a cute smile at you while snaking his arms around your waist and placing kisses on your face and neck.

“I can’t wait!” He exclaimed full with joy, after that he gently rested his chin on your head and yawned. You almost forgot he hadn’t changed since he got back.

“Aren’t you going to change?” You crooked your eyebrow.

“Nope, I don’t wanna leave you...besides I’m right where I wanna be, there’s no other place I’d rather be.” He tightened his arms pulling you closer.

You blushed deeply at his words as you stared up at him while silently fangirled and you snuggled up with him, you didn’t mind you enjoyed this even if you were scarred shitless, you felt Jim shift a little and felt the warm blanket softly being placed on you both. As the sleepiness consumed the both of you you slowly closed your eyes and you felt at peace, nothing could ruin this moment.

“I love you...” Jim softly muttered catching you off guard, you blushed softly before responding

“I love you too” you say as you drift off to sleep.

weird asks that say a lot

1. coffee mugs, teacups, wine glasses, water bottles, or soda cans?

Coffee mugs I think. I have a pretty big collection of those.

2. chocolate bars or lollipops?

This one is hard! Probably chocolate bars though.

3. bubblegum or cotton candy?

Cotton candy 100%.

4. how did your elementary school teachers describe you?

Hmmmm, I think hardworking and sweet came up a lot? I was very much a teacher’s pet and the perfectionist anxiety set in early lol so I was a busy, over-achieving bee.

5. do you prefer to drink soda from soda cans, soda bottles, plastic cups or glass cups?

I prefer soda bottles. Glass bottles especially.

6. pastel, boho, tomboy, preppy, goth, grunge, formal or sportswear?

It really depends? But I guess I’m more tomboy style than anything else.

7. earbuds or headphones?

Earbuds because I like to have one in and one out so I can still hear what’s going around me.

8. movies or tv shows?

TV shows because I like having more time to get to know the characters (and domestic/casual situations for overpowered or zany characters are way more likely to happen in a show than a movie and I live for those lol).

9. favorite smell in the summer?

Rain on pavement because it just storms and storms in the summer and it’s so nice.

10. game you were best at in p.e.?

Hmmm I was good at anything that involved running? And games that involved those wheely board things you sat on and scooted around on were always fun.

11. what you have for breakfast on an average day?

It varies? Bagels or toast most often I guess.

Sick beats.

Key ring with a little stuffed animal on it. Right now mine has a bee on it and I love it.

Tuesdays with Morrie was pretty good.

Criss-cross.

My plain white sneakers. They’re not real pretty or anything but they’re very comfy and I don’t have to think about whether they match things.

Partially cloudy all day, storm in the afternoon, cool in the evening.

Always on one of my sides.

Notes on my phone or on my laptop with my typewriter keyboard.

The Lion King and anything related to it.

Jane Goodall has been at least one of my role models since I was ten, but my mom is a big one too.

23. strange habits?

I’m still getting over periodically chewing my fingers? Does that count? I also have a quirk when it comes to touching certain metal things but especially coins so when someone hands me change I do everything I can to avoid touching it and hold it in the bills if I can.

24. favorite crystal?

Kinds of crystals I presume? I’ve always liked rose quartzes and amethysts (especially amethyst geodes since I have a couple of those).

25. first song you remember hearing?

Probably something from Tarzan or Mary Poppins since those were my childhood movies. So Stepping Time from Mary Poppins would be a good guess.

26. favorite activity to do in warm weather?

Swimming.

27. favorite activity to do in cold weather?

Walking around in it because it’s hardly ever truly cold here and I like to savor it.

28. five songs to describe you?

I change music taste every five minutes so I’m going to say songs that describe me right now are brand new by ben rector, just a quail by louie zong, turning out by ajr, everything stays by olivia olson, and hooked on a feeling by blue swede.

29. best way to bond with you?

It’s all in the time. I get attached to people pretty easy as long as they’re nice and we can goof around, have fun, and talk about whatever. So putting time in to hang out means a lot to me.

30. places that you find sacred?

Hmmm, being deep in forests feels sacred to me so there are certain waterfall hikes in the smokey mountains and along the blue ridge parkway and in Hawaii that seem very special to me. And then disney world and disneyland will always have a sacredness to them for me because they’ve meant so much to me and the happiness it brings people is pretty magical.

31. what outfit do you wear to kick ass and take names?

My comfy jean shorts and either my yellowish flannel or my guardians of the galaxy shirt with my rebel jacket.

1 AM.

Oh gosh the first one… probably one of those vines up there. It might have been fre shavocado. This was a long time ago though.

Suitcase.

Tea because I can’t drink citrus without it setting my mouth on fire lol.

39. lemon cake or lemon meringue pie?

Lemon cake but I don’t have it often for the reason listed above.

40. weirdest thing to ever happen at your school?

Some kids in elementary did something weird in the trees behind our school because the teachers weren’t watching them (I never knew exactly what it was but it was Bad tm) but the teachers didn’t know exactly who it was so they punished the whole grade and we were forced to only play kickball during recess for like 7 months and it was the worst. It’s not exactly weird per say but I always found it wild that the only conceivable thing they could think to do to solve this problem was force a bunch of scrawny, socially awkward, miserable children to play ground baseball with a permanently half-deflated rubber ball.

My brother.

42. jacket pockets or pants pockets?

Pants pockets but only because I don’t get to use jacket pockets as often as I would like to.

43. hoodie, leather jacket, cardigan, jean jacket or bomber jacket?

I’m completely tied between hoodies and bomber jackets.

Ocean.

45. which genre: sci-fi, fantasy or superhero?

These are my three faves, not fair!! Sigh, probably superhero because even with sci-fi and fantasy my faves tend to be my faves because they have superhero elements. The colors, the Drama, the angst, the powers?? What’s not to love.

46. most comfortable outfit to sleep in?

Baggy t-shirt and athletic shorts.

47. favorite type of cheese?

Smoked gouda.

48. if you were a fruit, what kind would you be?

Watermelon.

49. what saying or quote do you live by?

“Keep moving forward.” from Meet the Robinsons most, but I also like “The bottom line is if you take a chance in life sometimes good things happen, sometimes bad things happen but, honey, if you don’t take a chance nothing happens.” from Dorothy in Golden Girls.

50. what made you laugh the hardest you ever have?

I don’t know about the hardest I ever have (because I am very lucky and have a very funny family so I laugh a lot) but watching vine compilations for the very first time with my siblings made me laugh really hard.

51. current stresses?

Fitting everything in. Days just don’t feel long enough and social situations plus school stuff always get to me but I’m doing okay.

52. favorite font?

I do like times new roman even if it’s used a lot but I’ve been using the font yananeska for calligraphy stuff lately and it’s a cool one.

53. what is the current state of your hands?

They’re always a bit dry and on the warmish side but they’re pretty good.

54. what did you learn from your first job?

Have never had a job job but I volunteered in a library for like three years and it taught me to enjoy the details, slow down and enjoy the quiet, simple tasks, appreciate really excited kids, and try to help people whenever I can.

55. favorite fairy tale?

Aladdin or beauty and the beast I suppose? I like that there’s multiple ways to interpret those stories and that they can be played with in some fun ways because they’re such interesting concepts by themselves.

56. favorite tradition?

How cities all over the world string up lights on things in the winter. It means something different to everyone and some do it and some don’t which is totally fine, but this idea of lighting up the world during the bleakest month, and how some people go all out with colors and patterns and synced to music, and how everyone does it a bit different, and how entire cities are just smothered in lights means a lot to me. I think it’s a very cool and very human thing to do.

57. the three biggest struggles you’ve overcome?

The tough year before my family moved, getting through my really intense anxiety years where I couldn’t travel in cars for more than fifteen minutes without throwing up, and my month away at art school.

58. four talents you’re proud of having?

Hmmm, I guess I’m pretty proud of my writing ability, my singing voice, my art skills, and my ability to talk to anyone.

59. if you were a video game character, what would your catchphrase be?

Probably something goofy like “YEET” or some variation of “That’s bonkers” because I do say those a lot.

60. if you were a character in an anime, what kind of anime would you want it to be?

Superhero.

61. favorite line you heard from a book/movie/tv show/etc.?

“That’s all it is, a leap of faith.” from Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse is still pretty special to me. As is “I never thought I could do any of this stuff, but I can.” same movie.

62. seven characters you relate to?

Aaaaaaaa another hard one. Whoo boy, right now my gut instinct is probably: Judy Hopps (Zootopia), Miles Morales (Into the Spiderverse), Raph (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Spiderham (Into the Spiderverse), Hagrid (Harry Potter), the firbolg (the adventure zone), and Sam-I-Am (Green Eggs and Ham).

63. five songs that would play in your club?

At the moment I would want you make my dreams by hall & oates, cantina band by John Williams, the bones by maren morris and hozier, hooked on a feeling by blue swede, and backflip by rivers cuomo to play.

64. favorite website from your childhood?

Coolmathgames.

65. any permanent scars?

I have a round scar on my elbow from when I skidded across the ground after crashing my bicycle.

66. favorite flower(s)?

I like lotus flowers, gardenias, and plumerias.

67. good luck charms?

My DnD dice, rocks (like my obsidian, sodalites, and amethysts), and my ten little lucky owl statues in different colors.

68. worst flavor of any food or drink you’ve ever tried?

Beverly soda is the worst but a specific flavor I really don’t like is pickles.

69. a fun fact that you don’t know how you learned?

Mantis shrimps punch so fast that the water around their punch boils. Also they have seventeen color receptors compared to our 3.

70. left or right handed?

Right handed.

71. least favorite pattern?

I’m not quite sure? I’m not crazy about optical illusions that look sort of smeared and are all black and white because they hurt my eyes so probably those.

72. worst subject?

I’m not great with math or sports, but I’ve gotten a handle on math as of late.

73. favorite weird flavor combo?

I’m not sure if they’re weird but I’m willing to try a lot so ketchup and mayonnaise is great, barbecue sauce and cheez-its is very good, and apples dipped in nacho cheese or salsa is not bad.

74. at what pain level out of ten (1 through 10) do you have to be at before you take an advil or ibuprofen?

I think 4.

75. when did you lose your first tooth?

I think I was five? Not sure.

76. what’s your favorite potato food (i.e. tater tots, baked potatoes, fries, chips, etc.)?

Baked potatoes but fries are very close.

77. best plant to grow on a windowsill?

Aloe plants.

78. coffee from a gas station or sushi from a grocery store?

I don’t eat sushi so coffee from a gas station.

School id photo.

Probably writing because it’s more straightforward to me but it depends.

Mythology because it gets wild so fast and cracks me up sometimes.

87. your greatest fear?

Being annoying or mean without realizing it and driving people away. I’m constantly scared I’m going to mess everything up which I need to work on because it’s hard to live that way.

Going to get a bit cheesy but to someday be a zoologist with some fun hobbies, travel often, feel satisfied with my life, and spend my days with someone I truly love and have a lot of fun with.

Anyone in my family because we’re really close and they would do that for me.

90. luckiest mistake?

Probably going to an up-ity art school for a month a few years ago because while I was extremely depressed, homesick, and felt like a big failure the whole time, if I hadn’t done that and had my dreams crushed by some mean professors I might have gone there for a whole semester and spent a bajillion dollars to learn the same thing. And it inevitably put me at the school I’m at now which I’m very very happy with and suits me so much better.

I like boxes.

92. lamps, overhead lights, sunlight or fairy lights?

Fairy lights because I’m a sucker for colors.

93. nicknames?

Doodlebug is the biggest one.

94. favorite season?

Fall. Colors, halloween, thanksgiving, cooler weather, I love it ALL.

Spotify.

96. desktop background?

A painting of a whale shark from the Georgia aquarium because going there was a big deal for me and it’s very pretty.

97. how many phone numbers do you have memorized?

Maybe 3? I don’t have to memorize them much anymore lol.

98. favorite historical era?

I kind of like the 1920s aesthetic these days but I love very scattered things about history so picking one era is tough.

My Top 25 Games Advent Day 4 - Kingdom Hearts II (#22)

I have a very odd relationship with Kingdom Hearts, and honestly, I sometimes can’t decipher whether it’s mostly love or hate I feel for this game. But above all else, this overtly ridiculous crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy captured my heart and mind when I was young and I became so obsessed, I actually managed to progress further in the game at age 7 than I did this year before I got stuck. Kingdom Hearts is my strange and confusing paramour and I still don’t really know why it exists or, even 14 years later, what the hell it is.

Kingdom Hearts II, which is of course the third entry in the series, came out for the PS2 in 2005 and was actually gifted to my mother first, before she gave it to me when she realised the Disney characters on the front weren’t a brilliant representation of the game’s contents. And so putting the disc in for the first time in 2005 and revisiting it on the PS4 this year had the exact same effect on me; I knew immediately I wasn’t in this for the story. Kingdom Hearts as a whole is notorious for having a bumfuck crazy story with ungodly amounts of branching plot threads that were more than enough to make my tiny 7 year old brain shut down, as well as my tiny now brain. And it wasn’t the fact that I entered the series at the wrong point, it just be like that. You follow Sora, and occasionally Roxas, along with everyone’s favourite least favourite companions Donald and Goofy as you travel to Disney world upon Disney world fighting off creatures called heartless and nobodies for a reason, presumably.

Taking a step back for a minute, I realise how vaguely and snarky I am referring to this game, so why do I love it enough for it to make spot 22? It’s not just blind childhood nostalgia (though I suspect that plays a part). Kingdom Hearts II is just a blast to play, from the engaging and varied combat mechanics that encourage experimentation with spells, abilities, limits, summons and transformations to make every fight constantly insane, to the fun little skateboarding sections at the beginning of the game. Focusing on the combat for a sec, which I view as the central portion of the game, it really isn’t child’s play. If you jump into a boss fight or even a particularly gruelling set of regular enemies unprepared, then accept the fact that you are about to have your arse personally handed to you by a Disney villain. This is especially true for the later stages of the game, as you start to take on members of the central villainous group of the series, Organization 13 (which of course has 14 members) where they really just pull out all the stops to make your life misery if you don’t master your style of play. But that really is the beauty of Kingdom Hearts; it encourages you to create your own playstyle based on the arsenal of weapon types, spells and abilities the game locks and loads you with, making each quick access selection you make for each menu be the crucial difference between life and death.

So other than the blisteringly difficult combat, the main draw to Kingdom Hearts is the fact you get to visit various different Disney worlds and beat things up on them. I'll be honest, each of the worlds in this game very wildly in quality. Unlike most others, I adore the opening to this game and how gentle and mysterious Twilight Town is as a starting area, which sets up some intriguing plot threads for later in the game. Hollow Bastion, the gathering place of the strange selection of Final Fantasy characters, is unique and atmospheric, as well as later in the game playing host to one of the coolest, well-crafted horde battles I've seen in a game (apart from the Goofy death fake-out, that was just weird). There's even a Winnie the Pooh section filled entirely with fun minigames and if there's anything that's going to make me regress into childhood, it's that. Some of the worlds, most notably A Nightmare Before Christmas, Pirates of the Caribbean and Tron actually alter the designs of Sora, Donald and Goofy so their costumes fit much better in the aesthetic; I think that was a brilliant idea and was well executed. My favourite of these though, as well as my favourite world in Kingdom Hearts overall, is the Timeless River world based off the first '30s cartoons of Mickey Mouse, which regress Donald and Goofy back to their original designs and gives Sora his own monochrome old style appearance! It's adorable and is just bursting with that Disney style and creativity I'm really sad they seemed to have lost overtime (but that's for a different post). To perfectly compliment these worlds and the game overall, the soundtrack is amazing (which I often hold as one of my main conditions of putting something in this list); sometimes they went for a basic instrumental of a song corresponding to that film, but for others like Twilight Town and Hollow Bastion, the original scores created for those are jaw-dropping, with the same applying to each and every battle theme they composed. It doesn't seem obvious until you say it out loud that a combination between Disney and Final Fantasy is of course going to yield some awesome music and I really can't get enough of it.

Oh yeah and then they decided to ruin it all with the Little Mermaid game, in which they threw away everything the game had implemented up to that point to make you play a babyish, unresponsive rhythm game so Sora and the gang can take a break from vanquishing evil to appear in a musical. And the best part is you can't get this monstrosity out of the way in one sitting! Nope, you have to continually come back and complete sections of this hell periodically just so the game can make sure you're not having too much fun.

Basically, other than that mild (monumental) hiccup at the end there, Kingdom Hearts II excels at what it's trying to do and be, whatever that is. It somehow succeeds in pulling off the tenuous connection between world-famous, family friendly Disney and edgy, batshit Final Fantasy. It's wild and it's funny when it isn't quite meant to be (see the moment when Tron just fucking yeets himself into a pit for no apparent reason at the end of his section, because I lose it every single time at that, especially since the game is playing it off as something really sad). But most of all, it's a reflection of pure insane creativity and corporate synergy all welded into a series literally no one can ever truly comprehend. And they actually hired on the late, great Christopher Lee to say the line "We can always buy some sea salt ice cream". So here it stands, as my 22nd favourite game of all time.

Standout Moment Award: The Nightmare Before Christmas, purely down to visuals and soundtrack alone. If not that, then anything involving Twilight Town because that's one of my absolute favourite settings in a video game.

Standout Character Award: Axel. Axel is just a chill dude, not quite hero and not quite villain, who’s a welcome presence throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. Not so edgy he’s completely unlikable, but enough edge and humour to make 12 year old me happy.

i mean if ever an ask prompt to get a load of asks on, this is the one. it’s also going under a cut because goddamn i do like to ramble about kirbo @carolofthedailydays @tsukuyomishirabes and @ them two anons i guess

1- Favorite character i got this three times, so i feel like three answers are warranted. top of the heap is marx of course, my bastard son and favorite boss, whose moveset has inspired at least one move in every final boss arsenal in every kirby game since his soul incarnation in kssu. and i’m still not over him being playable in star allies aaaaaaaaa speaking of, susie is an equally fun dream friend, but my reasons for liking her are completely different; where marx has a very basic story arc, susie’s is complex (for kirby anyway) and lore-laden. plus she’s gorl so like. i gotta. rounding out my top three would be sectonia, and by extension taranza. i won’t go into details, if you’ve played triple deluxe/dededetour, you know why, if not go play it, also it’s hip

2- Favorite final boss two answers for two asks; i already went over them in the previous answer, but marx and sectonia are two very different boss fights. marx i like mostly out of nostalgia, like, i played the everloving shit out of kssu, i know that bossfight front to back, and i still enjoy it. sectonia on the other hand is set over three different forms, and i hate to use the word but it feels “epic” in the same way that star dream does, but without the starfox battle style. plus the music... oo we’ll get to that later

3- Favorite animal friend chuchu! she’s adowabwe! and her combo abilities are unique and strong, in most cases

5- Favorite main game nostalgia wants me to say super star/ultra, but honestly star allies blew me away in terms of how much fun i had. recent kirby games have been very fun, but also maybe a bit too reliant on gimmicks? like stomping around in robobot armor was fun, don’t get me wrong, and the background/foreground stuff in td was cute, but the main game in sa is like... really good core kirby. like if you’re going for 100% yeah you gotta switch around powers and spawn ai if you don’t have a co-op partner, but the solid classic gameplay combined with the ability to play all these fuckin old characters and the absolute lore bombs that get dropped later on... it’s just about everything i wanted in a kirby game

6- Favorite spin-off game i’ve had a lot of good times with air ride over the years, and like a lot of fans i hope we see a remake at some point. until then i’m content to putz around in city trial with my best friend

8- Favorite copy ability i’ve always been a hammer girl at heart, i like big burst damage, but suplex is just somethin i can’t pass up. it’s just fun to YEET fuckers around, even if it is a subpar boss-fighting ability

9- Favorite song / 10- Favorite Final Boss Theme three asks for this one too, i won’t go into detail, but i will provide links Moonstruck Blossom Vagrant Counting Song of Retrospection/Soul 0 System VS. Marx okay i lied i will go into detail, why the fuck do most of the other dream friend morpho knight fights get these kickass titles like “The Maidens’ Battle with Darkness”, “Crowning of the Supreme King ~OVERLORD~”, “Deus Ex Machina at a Young Age” and yet marx is just left with “oh yeah it’s the star allies version homie we gotchu” like??????

15- A song you would like to be remixed zero. why the hell they were able to seamless mix both parts of kdl2 dark matter into the dm clone fight in robobot, but for gooey’s morpho knight fight it’s just kdl3 dark matter? the two pairs of fights are just as consecutive, dark matter blade bleeding right into true dark matter, and the hyperzone fights being just the same. and i’m not counting the celebration pic theme, i want an actual boss remix. hell i just want zero back in some canon form. void is close but like, it’s still ambiguous...

16- A character you would like to see back ZERO PLEASE CMON GUYS THERE’S SO MUCH DARK MATTER LORE TO BE EXPLORED AAAAAAAAA

17- A copy ability you would like to see back see that’s tough because star allies has representation of a helluva lot of abilities, even if they aren’t necessarily copy abilities kirby can use. even then, the other really unique abilities haven’t been gone for that long so like... animal would be fun to see back, with some new tricks of course. iunno i feel like i’m scraping the bottom of the barrel for this one, which is a good problem to have in this case

23- Any kirby-related memory you have i played a lot of return to dreamland with my best friend in college, and one of the bosses, mr. dooter, we’d just like... say his name in increasingly goofy and stupid ways. i dunno why that stuck with me but like... fuckin dooter... iunno i guess i just wanna get back to that. which i mean, i guess i’ll get the opportunity to, since he’s comin into town for a week pretty soon. so we’ll get to do all that again, only with star allies. and a lot of other games. ...fuck i didn’t think this’d turn into somethin this personal but like, kirby’s just that important to me. got a lotta good memories with the series

Birthday Special: Noctis’s Birthday fanfic

A special birthday special for the sweet Prince of Lucis! This fic is set in an AU where there’s no war and no daemons! Also expect heavy NoctxLuna, RavusxOC and IgnisxOC. Anyway I worked hard on this so I hope you enjoy!

Noctis’s Special Day

It was odd to say the least when the Prince wasn’t awoken by Ignis or Gladio or even his little sister for the matter. Noct opened his eyes and could see the bright sun shining through the dark green tent he slept in. He lifted his head whilst yawning and was surprised to not see anyone else in the tent; it was just him on his sleeping bag. He slowly crawled out of the tent and covered his vision from the bright sun. Again, no one was outside. This was all so weird. He grabbed his phone and texted his sister Bella and got no answer. He then texted Ignis with the same result. The Prince tried calling up the others but it kept ringing until it went to voicemail.

“Where in the Six are they?” He asked himself but then he noticed something beside his sleeping bag; it was a note from Ignis.

You must be hungry, I’ve prepared a hearty lunch for you at the Old House in Cape Caem, and it’s in the oven.

Ignis

“Lunch?” He turned his phone to check the time and pouted; 1pm. His advisor knew what time he would wake up by himself. “They’re probably there, trying to trick me or something.”

The Prince got changed into his usual attire of clothes and left camp, just like that. If Gladio was there, he would have definitely nagged him to pack everything away. ‘Gladio’s not here though.’ He smirked to himself. The haven he had awoken from was Spelcray Haven which was near Cape Caem anyway. He walked up the stairs and his eyes widened when he saw the Regalia wasn’t there. Instead there was only his sister’s best friend, Wren’s motorbike.

“They took the Regalia but left me this, huh?” He asked as he walked up to the motorbike to find a note on it from the owner obviously.

You better be careful with my baby, or else I’ll give you food poisoning!

He got onto the motorbike and switched the engine on. The Prince headed East to Cape Caem and in through a tunnel. He felt the refreshing cool breeze from the ocean hit his body as his hair danced in the breeze. Driving it would be no problem, he used to drive motorbikes around when he was in his teenage days and got a license for it when he was just 15. Ah, he remembered the days when he used to ride his sister around Insomnia. At times they would sneak out in the middle of the night to get desserts from the nearest bakeries and return without anyone catching them, well until Cor caught them and they were both grounded for a week.

His snapped out of daze when he had arrived at Cape Caem. Noct switched off the motorbike’s engine and hopped off then kept it against a random pole so it doesn’t fall over. He walked up the hill and finally got to the house.

“Alright guys very fu-” He froze mid-sentence when he opened the door and there were was no one there. He walked in and closed the door behind him. “This is really weird.” He placed his hands on his hips then shrugged when his stomach rumbled. The Prince walked into the kitchen and found his lunch in the oven. He found 2 thick slices of Garulessandwiches and smiled; one of his favourites! The young man began eating by himself and finished by drinking his water.

“Meow~” He turned to see that grey cat he fed in Galdin Quay and it had a note in his mouth.

“Hey there little guy. What you got there?” The feline jumped onto the table which Cor always hated. Noct took the note from the cat and in return gave him whatever leftover he had, including the lettuce which was in the sandwich. This note was from Gladio.

You gave your lettuce to the cat didn’t you? You never change. Anyway, go to the Vesperpool Fishing Spot to find your next note. And DON’T forget to freshen up.

“What kind of game is this?” He asked and sighed. “Fine, if that’s their game I’ll play along.” He left the plates and glass in the sink and went upstairs to freshen up. When he had dried his face he looked at the mirror. He was 21 and looked more like his father with each passing day. He no longer had that spikey hair and it fell to his chin. His baby face wasn’t apparent with his jawline more chiselled. Now that he looked more handsome than he was before, he was getting more attention from girls, which would leave him flustered. The Prince looked down with pink cheeks and a soft; the only girl who mattered to him was far away.

The young man ran downstairs and left the house. He ran towards the motorbike and carried on with their little game. On the way to the Vesperpool, he noticed the roads were emptier which made him wonder; where would everyone else be? But that didn’t stop him from speeding on the road with his friend’s motorbike.

It took him only 25 minutes to get to the Vesperpool and he walked north from the Parking Station. Being alone was nice, but he missed his friend’s and sister’s company. They had been together for the past year or so and he’s grown so used to them. When he got to the Fishing Spot, he found a note on the fishing shack which was again, weirdly empty. This note was from his best friend the Chocobo lover.

Must be feeling lonely huh? Get to Burbost Souvenir Emporium for your next and final hint buddy!

“I can’t remember where that is!” He exclaimed and picked up the note to find another message behind.

Okay now the Prince remembered where it was. He headed back to the Parking Spot and got back onto the motorbike then continued on. Noctis was so glad this was almost over, it’s been just over an hour without seeing them and it’s felt like a week. ‘Damn, I need them that much’ He smiled to himself.

Of course he did; he treasured them truly. Even though Gladio was hard on him at times, he was protective and loyal to the Prince as both Shield and friend. Ignis, well he depended so much on him but he truly was the greatest for always being there for him no matter what. Prompto always shined the way he was, he would make any activity, no matter how boring, entertaining and was truly his bestest friend. Wren, was someone he had known the shortest, she got along really well with everyone. She was the first person to not treat him any differently to how she would treat just anyone. He was so grateful to her for always staying by his sister’s side too and protecting her as her bodyguard. And finally his baby sister who was only younger than him by 2 years. Her smile was like the dawn and her personality was even brighter and more cheerful than that of Prompto’s. Bella loved him more than she loved anyone and was so protective of him even though she was the youngest. And Noctis, well he loved her more than anyone could love her. Not to mention he was protective over her whenever she was around her boyfriend Ravus, who he still didn’t really get along with.

Before he knew it, he was already at the Burbost Souvenir Emporium and found a key in the door of the caravan. He got off the bike and opened the caravan which was, as you guess it; empty!

“I’m about to say yeet any minute now.” He mumbled and found something on the bed. There was a note on top of folded clothing and he picked it up. A small smile graced his lips; it was from Bella.

Bet you’re getting pretty tired of this, Sleeping Beauty. Almost done! Wear these clothes and head to Galdin Quay to seek what your heart truly desires.

The dark haired Prince picked up the clothes; it was a black suit consisting of a black blazer, waistcoat, trousers, shoes, white shirt and a golden metallic tie. He put the clothes on and it fit snuggly around his body. Thankfully the tie was a clip on tie, because he couldn’t tie one to save his life. It was most likely that both Ignis and Bella had picked out this outfit. The reason being was that his advisor knew his size and his sister admired their family’s colour of black and gold.

As he rode the motorbike in the direction of Galdin Quay his mind began to wonder. ‘What my heart truly desires?’ The only thing he could think of was to see them as well as his father, Lunafreya, her mother, Cor, Clarus, Iris, Nyx, Libertus, Holly, Umbra and Pryna, Talcott, Monica, Dustin, Cid and Cindy. He wanted to see them all together but he knew it would difficult to get everyone in one place.

As he drove through the roads, he started to think of his mother too which made his heart squeeze with pain. It had been years since he died and he was only 2 when it happened. Queen Aulea passed in childbirth when she gave birth to Bella. He felt his blue eyes sting with tears, what he would give to see her again…

It had taken him just about an hour to get there and when he finally did Noct’s eyes widened and a soft gasp escaped his lips. The beach was decorated with balloons, signs with his name on it and Sylleblossoms everywhere. There was a table full of gifts on beach as well as people dressed in costumes of Moogles, Chocobos and even Kenny Crowe just to mess with Noct, for the kid’s entertainment. He stopped the motorbike and saw a group of people.

Everyone from nearby outposts and everyone he wanted to see, including Ravus, was there! Everyone pulled their confetti cannons as golden strings and confetti exploded everywhere.

“Happy Birthday, Noctis!” They all cheered and he got off the bike as a goofy smile lit up his face. His heart was beating so fast; what a surprise! Even he forgot it was his birthday today.

Bella who was standing in front of the crowd wearing a black top with spaghetti straps with a v-neckline, tucked into a high waisted golden glitter sequin short skirt, nude glitter tights and black and gold ankle strap pump shoes. Her long black hip length hair was styled in wavy locks and she wore mascara and some dark red lipstick to bring out her green eyes. She also wore golden hoop earring, a gold choker and her mother’s ring on her right ring finger and promise ring from Ravus on her left ring finger. Everyone else, but the Fleurets wore black and gold too with the Prompto, Ignis and Gladio wearing the same outfit as Noctis. Wren wore a simple black long sleeved top with a midi skirt with a golden floral design on it as well as black heels with her collarbone length hair pinned back. She also wore simple makeup, some mascara and rosy red lipstick to bring out her bright green eyes.

“Thank you…” Noctis smiled warmly with a tear falling down his cheeks. Bella and Regis walked towards them and they both hugged him tightly. He still wasn’t a fan of hugs, but today was an exception as he wrapped his arms around them both.

“Happy Birthday, son.” The King stated.

“Happy Birthday, Noct!” The Princess giggled.

“I love you both, with all my heart.” They both smiled at this knowing he really meant it.

“We love you too.” They said and pulled away.

“Hey squirt, did you like that little game?” Wren asked with a wink as she led the boys towards the Prince.

“It got really annoying. I thought you guys were trying to play a prank on me.” He pouted with crossed arms. “Whose idea was it to leave notes around?”

“Guilty.” Prompto grinned cheekily.

“And who planned this whole birthday party then?” Noct asked with a raised eyebrow. “I bet it was you, dad.”

“Your sister did.” Regis answered and he did a double take on his sister.

“R-really?” He stuttered and she nodded with a grin. “All of it?”

“Uh-huh. I planned it 2 weeks ago. Looks like I got a talent for party planning. Everyone else helped organise it. Ignis 12 hours making all the food, Wren and I baked your cake, Prompto and Gladio as well as the others decorated and Ravus got all the Sylleblossoms together.” Bella explained.

“Did he do it voluntarily?” He squinted his eyes and she rolled her eyes.

“Yes, duh.” The boys, Wren and Noct glared at her and she sweated nervously whilst lifting her hands in defeat. “Okay, I asked him to.”

“I bet you did a little bit more than ask.” Wren snickered as her boyfriend Ignis shook his head, Gladio smirked and Prompto giggled with Regis not understanding what she meant.

“Wren!” She elbowed her with a pout.

“Ramuh, strike me where I stand.” Noct murmured whilst glancing up at the sky. They heard soft barks and Umbra ran towards Noctis who knelt to the ground whilst rubbing his head. “Umbra, you came to my birthday party huh? Glad you can make it buddy.” He did that cute baby talk with Umbra who licked his face.

“Prince Noctis…” The man heard a voice and stood up to see Queen Sylva who smiled gently at him. The Queen of Tenebrae wore a white and silver long sleeved a line dress which reached the floor and a simple silver tiara on top of her head.

“Your Highness.” He bowed his head respectfully.

“Oh how you’ve grown into a fine young man.” She stated whilst hugging him. His eyes widened with surprised when she did this and he froze not knowing if he should return it or just stand there. He could hear Gladio, Prompto, Regis, Bella and Wren snickering at his reaction. She pulled away from him and he cleared his throat.

“I’m glad you could make it.” Noctis said.

“We wouldn’t have missed it for the world.” She replied.

“My Prince.” He heard a familiar voice.

When his eyes fell on Lunafreya, he could feel his heart pounding in his chest and his cheeks turn hot. His once pale cheeks reddened as he blinked several times. He gulped and felt hot all of a sudden. It was as if he had seen a beautiful divine goddess. The Princess wore a white lace off the shoulder dress which fell to her knees. She also wore a silver crystal choker with matching earrings and her hair was left out. Luna stood there with her usual kind smile which made the Prince weak in his knees. By her side was Ravus who wore a white blazer, waistcoat and trousers, brown shoes, purple shirt and a silver metallic tie. His heterochromia eyes peered into Noctis who was just staring at his baby sister as he grew more impatient with his lack of words. The Prince of Lucis’s friends and sister noticed his dazed reaction and still couldn’t help but giggle.

“It’s as if Shiva froze him, Lunafreya.” Ravus stated and that was enough to snap Noct out of daze.

“Luna…you…you made it. I’m happy, uh, glad you’re here.” He stammered nervously and she nodded whilst blushing.

“Anyway, let’s get the presents inside. I bet Noct must be really hungry!” Bella stated and led the others inside whilst the youngsters carried the gifts.

When Noct and Luna had headed inside, they saw that the restaurant’s layout looked completely different. Instead of individual tables serving from 2 to 6, there were rectangular tables for everyone to sit together. Clarus, Cor, Sylva and Regis all sat together and were talking about how everything looked wonderful for the Prince’s Birthday. Whilst the rest were too busy teasing Noct for forgetting his own birthday. Bella, Gladio and Nyx had a fun time talking about Noct’s most embarrassing moments of his childhood, including the story when an 8 year old Noct confessed at a ball that he would marry Lady Lunafreya and that they would live happily ever after with 10 children whilst caring for Umbra and Pryna. They all laughed at this whilst Luna and Noct were both incredibly flustered and Ravus just glared at the Prince whilst wrapping his arm around his sister.

They were all served dinner before sunset with the King, Prince and Princess sitting at a table at the back. For dinner, there was a buffet consisting of all of the birthday boy’s favourite dishes which he was ecstatic about. Then it was time for Bella’s speech to Noctis on his birthday.

She stood up from her seat and cleared her throat. Everyone’s voices became silent into a mutter until there was complete silence.

“I’d like to take this moment to thank everyone for coming today. I am extremely grateful that you could make it for Noct’s birthday. Ignis, thank you so much for preparing such amazing food.” Both siblings smiled whilst lowering their heads respectfully at him. “Today is of course a really special and unforgettable day. Well almost for all.” She winked at her brother. “The day my lovely brother was born as my father would say the day he received a blessing from the Six. Although lazy most of the time and moody sometimes, my brother is truly a treasure to Eos. His kindness compares to only my father, his heart golden like our colour, words soft like a cloud and his strength great like Bahamut’s. I would like to raise a toast.” Bella raised her glass of champagne and so did everyone else. “To wish a happy birthday to a wonderful son, a kind Prince, a sweet lover, a dear friend and a perfect brother. May all your wishes come true and that your life is filled only with happiness and love. Happy Birthday, Sleeping Beauty.”

Everyone began clapping whilst Wren, Iris, Prompto and Cindy cheered. Noct smiled at this with a tear falling down his cheek as he wrapped his arms around his sister and pressed his lips against her forehead. She hugged him back which earned some aww’s from the crowd. The Prince of Lucis stood up too whilst holding her hand and looked at everyone.

“Thank you everyone for planning and organising this amazing party. Words can’t describe how happy I am but just know that I’m grateful for everyone has done today. Before coming here, Bella had left a note for me. To go to Galdin Quay to seek what my heart truly desires and this…this was what my heart truly desired. To see all the people special to me here and that’s what I got. And I thank the Six every day that I know there are people who really love me and care for me. It’s the best blessing I could ever have to be honest.” That special really moved both his sister and father who wiped their tears. They were so glad that he was happy today and that was all that mattered; Noct’s happiness.

When he was done with his speech, both Bella and Wren pushed a trolley table with a humungous 6 tier cake that was even taller than Bella who was 5ft 3in. The cake was decorated with figurines of all of Noct’s friends and family with the Prince on top holding a fishing rod. Noct’s eyes sparkled with amazement and everyone else was in awe as they praised the cake. Ignis helped both girls serve up the cake for each guest and they all enjoyed the delicious dessert the two best friends had prepared for them all.

The sun had begun to set in the horizon, many of the kids and guests were on the beach enjoying themselves whilst the elders had tea and coffee together. Bella grabbed both her brother and friend’s hands and led them to the dock where there was a boat for two that waited for them two/

“Quick before Ravus catches you both.” She said with a wink and Noct helped Luna get into the boat. And she pushed him after her. “Go get her tiger.” She mumbled loud enough for only him to hear. He blushed at this and glared at her.

“What if he sees us?” He asked curiously.

“Don’t worry, I got him under control now enjoy!” She pushed the back of the boat with her foot and nodded. Noct who quickly took the oars began rowing out, but not too far ahead and not too close to land.

Bella had sat down on the edge of the dock with her feet in the water. She heard footsteps as Ravus sat next to her with Ignis and Wren joining them.

“My love, where is…is that Noctis with my sister?” The Prince of Tenebrae asked with anger in his voice.

“Oh come now, let them be.” Ignis advised.

“Yeah you gotta be like Shiva and just chill.” Her best friend and boyfriend furrowed their eyebrows at her pun and she shrugged.

“But she’s my sister.” The silver haired man said.

“And he’s my brother. Don’t worry, my grey light flower. You can trust him.” Bella reassured him and when he heard his nickname he couldn’t help but blush and stay quiet. “Anyway Wren, did you bring the binoculars?”

“Yep!” The dark haired woman gave the Princess a pair of binoculars and Ignis sighed whilst pushing his glasses up.

“Shame on you both for being absolutely nosey.” He nagged.

“I’m just…keeping an eye in case he falls and drowns.” Wren snorted at Bella’s reasoning and the advisor just rolled his eyes with another deep sigh.

“I hope he does.” The older man mumbled earning him a nudge from his girlfriend.

“Ooooh, look he gave her his waistcoat, how cute!” The Princess’s bodyguard exclaimed.

“What?” Ravus hissed.

“Calm down, it is harmless. Only a token of kindness.” Ignis stated.

When the fireworks began to go off, Ignis couldn’t help but jump a little at it. Wren who noticed this, placed her hand on his and smiled gently at him with her eyes sparkling. She knew he was afraid of fireworks and promised him that she would be by his side through everything. He turned to him and there was that smile as warm as his heart and as beautiful as his existence to her. He leaned closer to her and pressed a sweet gentle kiss on her lips and she kissed him back. The kiss was heartfelt, light yet so tender, it made butterflies in their stomachs flutter. After just a minute they both pulled away and stared at the fireworks.

Ravus’s muscles relaxed and he sighed, maybe it was time he did trust the wayward Prince more around his sister. He knew Lunafreya had loved him dearly, surely if Noctis accepted him to date his sister then he could do the same. He turned to the girl who sat beside him and a smile graced his face; how luck was he to be in love with a girl like her, who heart was as bright as the sun. He wrapped his arm around her and she smiled, placing the binoculars down and resting her head against his arm. He placed his hand on her face, lifting it up to look into his mismatched eyes as he leaned in, capturing her red lips in a sweet, loving and powerful kiss. She kissed him back whilst holding his hand tight, never ever wanting to let go. He pulled away after a moment, his lips still on hers murmuring oh so quietly how much he loved her. When they had shared their beautiful and passionate moment, they both turned to the fireworks and admired it together.

In the distance, both Noctis and Lunafreya were staring up at the sky as it was lit with many colours. It was at this moment he knew that he could no longer hide his feelings for her anymore. He pulled away from her, holding her hands gently in his and she looked up at him.

“Luna, there’s something I have to tell you.” Her crystal blue eyes sparkled from the reflection of the fireworks and she nodded as her heart escalated with anxiety.

“What is it, Noctis?” She asked and he gulped. Beads of sweat trickled down the back of his neck and his face was hotter than Ifrit’s fire.

“For a long time, we have always been together. Since I was 6 and you were 10, I knew that you were like no one else. Whenever my dad would take us to Tenebrae, I would always get excited not for the love of your birthplace, but to see you.” She smiled at him. “As I grew up, my feelings for you changed and I knew that I didn’t want you just as my friend. But as someone more special.” He held her hands to his heart. “When I think of you, my heart goes crazy, when I see you, my brain is like fried eggs, when I hear your voice, and it’s most beautiful sound I could ever hear. Luna, it’s been you, it’s always been you. I love you, with all my heart and all my soul and I only want to make you the happiest woman in the world.”

“Oh Noctis…” She smiled with a tear falling down her cheek. “You just made me the happiest woman in the world. Because I love you too.” His eyes widened and he gulped.

“Y-you do?” Luna nodded. “Really?” She nodded again. “This isn’t a dream right?”

“No, this isn’t a dream.” She held his hands back showing him it wasn’t. “And even if it is, I never want to wake up from it.”

“Luna…” Suddenly he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close and so did she. “Luna, I love you so much.”

“I love you too, my Prince.” She whispered and they pulled away just a little.

He stared at those eyes, the ones he had always been in love and smiled whilst sighing with relief. She stared up at him with the widest smile on her face, as he wiped her tears and he leaned closer. And finally he had pressed his lips against hers, kissing her so carefully and lovingly. It took her a few seconds to process everything and treasure each millisecond until she kissed him back. She placed her soft warm hands onto his face as he wrapped his strong arms around neck. This moment, felt like an eternal blessing for them both. It was both their first kisses and they were both thankful that it was with each other.

After a minute or two they pulled away and were staring into each other eyes. “This has to be the best birthday I could ever have, all thanks for my family, to you and to my friends.” Lunafreya rested her head against his shoulder and they looked up at the stars forming in the sky as it lit with one final bright blue firework. “To everyone…thank you.”
