OOPS here's a white walnut / Butternut from last year that I forgot I had in my room so that it could dry!... I guess I'll... Peel off the husk?

And hope it can't stain my fingers when it's dry...

*Spongebob narrator voice* Ten minutes later..

Smashed it under my shoe to loosen the husk, and then scrubbed it off with a scrubby brush. You can see how sharp is, so actual protective gloves are definitely recommended alongside the rubber gloves you will want to prevent your hands from being stained.

But we don't have any rubber gloves so I didn't use any. I just used leather gloves.

And the leather doesn't seem to be stained and neither are my hands, so? Good I guess?

Not sure if that's because it's literally a year old or because white walnuts just don't stain as much, I guess I'll find out later this month or so...

Anyways, I'll let it dry and then I'll smash it open tomorrow when it's not literally midnight because I don't think my neighbors would appreciate that, and we'll see what the inside looks like and maybe I'll taste it. If I die I mean. Oh well, it's for science.
