Is there any chance u can find again that one Dark!Soichiro post u mentioned in the Dark!Sachiko one? Btw, I loved to read it, I remember one similar that said Sachiko was a mathematical genious that tries to rebuild her life after the end of the kira case, it's so interesting to see people pay attention to side characters!

So, I've been trying to look for the post since I got the ask in my inbox, but, for the life of me, I can't seem to find it again :/

I'll try to summarize what I remember of it if it's alright with you and if anyone knows the post and they could link it to me, I'd appreciate it:

The idea was that Dark!Soichiro lead a double life. Chief of police by day, crime lord by night so to say and he uses the day mask to hide his other activities.

Once the Kira case starts he pretends to be opposed, of course, but when Light becomes L's main suspect he's secretly very proud.

And that's how you get father-son "happy" murder time bonding.

Also, someone else pointed out that if this AU were to go into a Lawlight direction, the shovel talk would be infinitely more tense than in the canon setting.

I don't think I've seen that Sachiko post you are talking about, however I quite enjoy stuff about her trauma and suffering post-series. She isn't shown a lot and there's a lot of potential that stems from how the story ends in the destruction of her family on every level. First her daughter is left affected by trauma, then her husband dies and later her son ( and whether you decide for her to find out about Kira's identity or not can lead to a whole other set of angst ) dies too.

The Yagamis are a tragedy in and of itself.

With the kind of characters like Sayu and Sachiko, whose screentime could be considered minimal at best, it's much easier to go wild with headcanons and such. There's not a lot working against your idea in canon, hence my Dark!Saciko AU.

I like the thought of Light taking after both of his parents in some way and, as interesting as Dark!Soichiro could be, a shady Sachiko would present the kind of "wolf in sheep's clothing" image Light was always trying to project in canon.

A housewife with no recorded notable accomplishments and married to the Chief of the NPA? What could she possibly be hiding!? Nothing bad, I'm sure...

And the Lawlight I inserted in the post, I just couldn't help lol. I'm a sucker for a good relationship parallel.

Near, Mello, Misa and Matsuda for the character meme

ALREADY ANSWERED FOR MISA (X), BUT:

NEAR + FIRST IMPRESSION:

I must admit I wasn’t a fan of Near at all the first time I just watched the anime. He came off really dull to me, and felt like a lesser version of L. I never read the second half of the manga until recently, so watching the Japanese dub of the anime once was the only impression of Near I ever had back then. I did think he was kind of charming in some of the fanfics I read, but he definitely was close to the bottom of the list of Death Note characters I cared about when I was younger.

NEAR + IMPRESSION NOW:

Near actually became one of my top 4 faves when I read the manga in my twenties! I was finally over L’s death and able to view the second half of the series much more objectively. I also think Near comes off way more deep and interesting and full of personality in the manga than he does in the anime. He was so funny and relatable and heartbreaking in weird ways, and I appreciated how he’s actually one of the more decent human beings in the series. He’s not motivated by self-interest or fascinated by Light in any sort of personal way, and that’s such a satisfying change from L at that point in the story. I love how well he foils Light’s ego and how earnestly he tries to relate to and collaborate with Mello, even after some of the awful things Mello does.

NEAR + FAVOURITE MOMENT:

This moment when Near just pretends to butt-dial Kira in order to figure out Mogi’s identity instead of engaging Light in a meticulous battle of the wits caught me so off-guard and made me legit lol:

NEAR + IDEA FOR A STORY:

I want to read about Near and Mello spending a chill weekend together at the SPK HQ! Ahh, I just wish they’d had more time to actually hang out and communicate as adults.

NEAR + UNPOPULAR OPINION:

He’s very shippable, and deserves to be shipped more!

NEAR + FAVOURITE RELATIONSHIP:

I love his frustrating and tragic relationship with Mello. It really tugs on the heartstrings to see Near caring about and attempting to reconnect with his childhood rival like that.

NEAR + FAVOURITE HEADCANON:

He’s obsessed with the idea of family and home and as an adult is often trying to recreate a sense of one for himself out of the people around him, like his coworkers and his childhood peers.

MELLO + FIRST IMPRESSION:

I think I found child Mello funny and compelling, because his reaction to L’s death was basically the same bug-eyed incredulous upset reaction as mine. He’s very entertaining to watch as an adult with his incredibly dramatic schemes too, and his character design is great and so much fun to look at! I loved reading him in fanfics as well, especially when he was given a more complex personality than just yelling a lot and being obsessed with chocolate.

MELLO + IMPRESSION NOW:

My impression of Mello has wobbled around quite a bit as an adult! I think at first I found him not that sympathetic or interesting, because I found it so hard to forgive him for kidnapping Sayu and giving the order to slaughter so many of Near’s coworkers and other things like that. I just couldn’t relate to him that well, and sort of missed noticing the more complex parts of his character and the way he develops and grows as a person over the latter parts of the story. I admittedly have a bunch of trouble following the plot of the successor arc and keeping track of who knows what about what, so I think some of the subtler ambiguities about his character completely escaped my notice. I’m very grateful to @thoughtsbypsychicsab for giving me a better appreciation of him and the second half of the series in general with her thorough breakdown of the plot and the possible motivations of the characters. Y'all should check out her podcast btw, it does such a good job exploring the whole story: (X)

I don’t think he’s a big hotheaded loudmouth at all (and I’m totally @ing my younger self for this idea of Mello, because I completely characterized him that way myself when I was a teen). He’s as cool as a cucumber most of the time in the manga!

His relationship with Near.

Pure, sweet cinnamon roll who never did anything wrong in his life. I really related to how much he questioned Kira’s impact on the world and I hated it when the other characters bullied him.

I think he’s still very likeable and a great part of the cast who does some very important stuff, but he’s definitely a little shit sometimes too, especially in the successor arc! You don’t really see it in the anime, but in the manga he has wayyyy too much fun watching Light cheat on Misa, and seems to almost regress in maturity a lot after Soichiro’s death.

MATSUDA + FAVOURITE MOMENT:

Ohhh it’s so crazy when he shoots Light at the warehouse like that. It’s brutal, but works perfectly for his character.

MATSUDA + IDEA FOR A STORY:

I would love to see L and Light and Matsuda go out for drinks and karaoke sometime.

MATSUDA + UNPOPULAR OPINION:

It’s not THAT creepy that he hits on Sayu after the time skip, guys. She’s twenty and in unversity, and he’s thirty-one. It’s not adorable, but it’s not predatory.

MATSUDA + FAVOURITE RELATIONSHIP:

His respectful relationship with Soichiro is so sweet and adds so much heart and humanity to the story.

MATSUDA + FAVOURITE HEADCANON:

He idealizes the Yagami family a lot, and wishes that Soichiro and Sachiko were his parents very much.

my favorite scene is the scene where inada gives yukina the journals, but only on a second reading. "hey tante, can you help me research-" "what's that? you wanted my sister's diary? you wanted my big sister's deepest, darkest secrets? you wanted to learn the most intimate details of your mothers' lives? that's what you wanted?"

lets see, lets see. i think my favorite scene is when yukina is in the shadow place because i really like the tension of shit hitting the fan, the visuals, and then the comedic end where yukina and rie just wind up in a pile.

Ah, yes. Chapter 5 was when Leigh started putting in her two cents more into the story. I don't recall who came up with the exact direction there BUT that was a good one. It kinda encompasses Raison's story style as a whole - can get serious but then it has its comedic moments just kinda "whoop!" right back

I'm pretty bad for being able to figure out relationships unless they're spelled out in black and white myself. Even the big reveal of "Kaa-san", I don't remember how long it took until I clued in to there being two mothers.

My favourite scene was actually pretty early on. It was when Kregor was going after Sachiko saying something to the effect of "this should be easy" only to have Miko disarm his dagger and get into a whole fight.

QUESTION 2. Throughout the comic, we continually see the appearance of Kregor who is out to cause a lot of harm at the behest of his boss, Lady Elianne. What do you think is so special about Sachiko’s blood? Does it have something to do with Allie or is something else afoot? Why do you think Lady Elianne targets Sachiko specifically and not anyone else in her family? Do you think Lady Elianne will ultimately succeed, or will everyone be able to stop her? Who even is Lady Elianne? Outside of Sachiko, Kregor also hunts Yukina’s friend Rie at the behest of the Tanuki Brothers. Do you think the initial failure will deter Kregor from trying again? If Kregor doesn’t try again, do you believe the Tanuki Brothers will leave Rie alone? If Kregor does try again, will he succeed or will something else stop him?

so in respects to the question, i recall elianne referring to the thing as a curse and how its killed her ancestors. but im starting to wonder if its not something on her mother's side but something on her father's side. because nobody on her mother's side seems at all bothered by any sort of curse and what not and it fits why kregor is targetting sachiko and not say her brother.

QUESTION 3. Chapter 6 of the comic is a four year time skip after Lady Elianne inadvertently captures Sachiko and Koyomiko. What do you think Yukina has been doing for the four years? Has she been in France the whole time, or do you think she came back to Japan at some point? How do you think Yukina has been coping with her missing mothers, and what do you think she intends to do about it? In regards to other characters, how do you think they’re doing? Is Rie okay, or has something happened because of her grandmother’s heir? Do you think Rie’s mother is doing okay as captain, and what do you think the state of her marriage is? Is it something to do with catching Kregor, Koyomiko’s Ascendant Rights work, or just everything put together? Speaking of the past, do you think Koyomiko repaired the relationship with her family at some point? We also see a brief flashback of how Sachiko lost her eye, so what do you think are the circumstances that brought that about? Aside from the past, do you think reading the journals about Sachiko and Koyomiko has helped Yukina in ways besides offering her a new perspective on them? Do you believe they will help Yukina find her raison?

Regards the prior question, obviously the reason Sachiko and Miko haven't escaped yet is because they don't have their memories and don't know where to escape to. It's a fun Catch-22, because if they had their memories, they'd be put to death.

I recently hit 150 followers on this blog, so as a thank you I have decided to create a bias list/follow forever/whatever you want to call this! If you are not on here I’m sorry, this was created off the top of my head and as a result it is inevitable that I miss some people. Just know that I appreciate every single one of you (except the p.orn blogs) and that I look forward to being more active on here!

But before I start the bias list, there’s some special people that I just need to have a bit of a rant about. So, in no particular order:

🎪 @facadesmiled - you’ve mentioned several times that you’ve been RPing as Joker since 2014, and it shows. The depth you give to his character is simply astounding! You have gone above and beyond the little canon information on him and developed your muse into someone that’s honestly a lot more human. He is suffering, he is hurt and, perhaps most importantly, you show that Joker is not inherently bad. Your writing (especially the Father’s Day drabble that you posted recently) really works to emphasise Kelvin’s influence over not just Joker, but the circus as a whole, and that really helps broaden your muse’s character. 🎪 @kniifethrower - the thing I like best about your blog is definitely how well you capture Dagger’s personality. He’s such an energetic, excitable character, and you manage to portray that really well through the dialogue you use. Even if it’s just a dashboard commentary or a one-liner, everything is so accurate to how he’s been presented in canon, and because of that your writing is a lot of fun to read! Not to mention that the way you write his accent is so cute. 🎪 @tameratrix - your Beast is amazing! She’s so well rounded and well thought out! She’s more than willing to stand up for herself and has a love-hate relationship with Betty, but at the same time she’s protective of her family and gets flustered and is just such a brilliantly thought out character. It’s clear that you’ve put a lot of effort into her character. 🎪 @pupacirci - I absolutely adore your Doll! A lot of your writing seems to emphasise her more childish qualities, and it really makes the reader think about her in a different light. A lot of the time Doll is seen as the ‘baby sister’ of the other First-Tiers, and your emphasis of her childish nature really shows that despite everything she’s been through she is still a child and she is the ‘baby’ of the group. However, you do play the more serious aspects of her personality very well too, creating a good balance between the two sides of her character. 🎪 @xircrocodile - scrEAMS IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION. Where do I even start??? You play Crocodile perfectly (so perfectly, in fact, that you are the reason I got into One Piece)and honestly you’re just a joy to talk to. Your writing is on point, you’re a great friend, and it’s amazing how even when you get the most random, out of place anons you still manage to stay 110% in character! You balance dialogue and description very well in your writing, and it’s fascinating to watch as your muses develop. 🎪 @jzsketch - your art style is adorable! All of your OCs have such creative designs, and your work is such a delight to see on the dashboard. The expressions, the colour palette, everything just works so well together, and your pictures are always a joy to look at! 🎪 @knoxsu - your writing is such a joy to see on the dashboard! Your Ronald is just so accurate to canon, it’s clear that you must have put a great deal of thought into how to write his character. The accent is perfect, and I think that the icon style you use works really well with your blog. 🎪 @aka-freckles - you’re someone who I followed very soon after making the blog, and I could not be happier that I did. Your Doll is true to canon, the description you use is always detailed and able to paint a vivid picture in the reader’s mind, and every time you use an icon the expression perfectly corresponds with the emotion she’s showing in the thread. (An impressive feat, considering that she’s minor character and so has less icons available). 🎪 @sassygreytea - we’ve been mutuals for a few months now, and throughout that time you have actually made me like Grey’s character much more than I did initially. You play him so well, and I always enjoy talking with you, be it IC or OOC. I read through your threads even if I’m not involved in them because your characterisation is so interesting and your writing is always gripping. 🎪 @oflicorice - I can not tell you how great it is to see a minor character get so much attention from the fandom. Your Othello is laid back and gets straight to the point, and your writing is so fun to read. We haven’t gotten the chance to speak OOC much, but from what I’ve seen you seem like a great person! 🎪 @ask-peter-ofnoahsarkcircus - I’m so glad that Peter’s getting some attention within the fandom. Even though he featured very little in the actual circus arc, your writing brings him to life and gives some much-needed attention to a very underrated character. I always enjoy talking with you ooc, and our character interactions are always fun to write. 🎪 @erebus-cheslock - your writing is enjoyable to read not just because of how well you portray Cheslock, but also because of how developed his character is. He is someone who (unfortunately) does not have a lot of personality development in canon, yet the life you breathe into his character makes it seem as though he was a major part of the manga. His back story, the AUs, everything has clearly had so much time and effort into it and it shows how much you care about making your muse a more well-rounded, interesting character and not reduce him down to being just an upper-class musician who went to Weston.

@ancerest (I’m so happy that Irene’s getting some attention, and your portrayal is 11/10) 🎪 @collapsahr (great url btw, and what I’ve seen of your writing is A+) 🎪 @domina-gladiis (you could literally write Elizabeth’s canon dialogue since you play her character so well) 🎪 @morsance (it’s fantastic to see you consider all aspects of Alois’ complex character in your writing as opposed to reducing him down to just a few key traits) 🎪 @thorncladreaper (reading your portrayal of Alan is always enjoyable, especially since he’s a character that’s often overlooked by the fandom) 🎪 @kodomokira (both your characterisation of Sachiko and your mobile banner are astounding tbh) 🎪 @ask-badly-drawn-sebastian (that mobile banner says it all. This blog is a masterpiece and should be cherished) 🎪 @fxtedtemsik (I love Ghost Trick, and I really like the way that you portray Yomiel) 🎪 @maurlce (your characterisation is so on point, it breathes a lot of life into your muse and really makes your writing a delight to read) 🎪 @deviliciious (I really love your portrayal of Sebastian’s demon form, it’s very creative) 🎪 @raajasii (you do Soma’s character so much justice!
