Im very curious about your thoughts regarding sirius holding everyone - but not remus - responsible for their actions 👀

I have a lot of thoughts which are not organised at ALL so I’m just gonna ramble a bit and see if they form some kinda answer

so as I said in those tags: choice and responsibility are central to who Sirius is. he sees himself as the sole agent of his own life because he’s made these huge and difficult decisions to reject the path other people chose for him. so because of that he holds himself entirely responsible for his own actions and knows he has to be ready to pay the price for them. it’s why he carries around an enormous amount of guilt about James and Lily’s deaths, because he sees it as something he was responsible for and he failed at. but it’s also why he’s so comfortable being rude and abrasive or not repressing his feelings to make other people happy - he makes a choice knowing the consequences and that he’s prepared to deal with them.

Sirius also views the rest of the world through the same principles and he judges the actions or inaction of those around him through it. if you do something knowing the consequences it will cause, or fail to act whilst pretending there are no consequences, he holds you responsible for that. the most obvious example is Peter, who he sees as having committed the ultimate sin in capitulating to the wishes of others because of his own cowardice, and enabling the murder of their friends because of it. and if you see loyalty as a form responsibility as well, then it’s a double crime in Sirius’s mind.

he treats James and Harry the same way. he tells James bluntly that Lily rejects him because he’s an arrogant ass. he calls Harry out when he’s being reckless or irresponsible, not in the sense of him being a disobedient child, but as someone who understands the consequences of his actions and needs to take responsibility for them. I actually can’t think of a single person in the series who Sirius has some relationship with that he doesn’t criticise, except Remus.

this fascinates me, because of all the people Sirius could get angry at, Remus is the most likely target. we know for certain he believes to some extent that Sirius is guilty of murdering innocent muggles and betraying James and Lily (a huge grey area as to what exactly he believes but that’s another post) and doesn’t challenge his 12 year imprisonment. then there are all the things that aren’t explicitly stated in canon so we can assume Remus did or didn’t do: he didn’t try and contact Harry or get involved in his life in any way despite the fact he was the son of Remus’s best friends and an orphan; he didn’t advocate for Sirius or challenge his imprisonment; he didn’t tell the authorities or even Dumbledore about Padfoot, or hand over the Marauder’s Map, when he still apparently believed Sirius was out to kill Harry; he didn’t contact Harry at all after PoA; he didn’t do anything to advocate for Sirius even after he knew he was innocent, or assist him whilst he was on the run.

I personally think there are defenses and explanations to literally all of this, but that’s not the point. Sirius always holds people accountable for their actions first and foremost - it’s only then that he considers their justifications with how he responds or whether it affects his view of them or their relationship. but we never see him hold Remus accountable at all. the closest he comes is a brief acknowledgment that Remus falsely believed he was guilty, which is then quickly forgiven.

obviously we could blame this on shitty writing, but I think that’s a lazy explanation, especially when Sirius is such a complex character. the next explanation is that we simply don’t see this confrontation play out because it doesn’t happen in front of Harry. I think this is a decent one, considering that we already know Sirius and Remus have a completely different and much more open relationship in private, from the snippets we do see through Harry.

but even if Sirius does call Remus out off screen, he still places a wildly different level of accountability on him than he does anyone else. between the end of PoA and the end of GoF, Sirius would have had to fully process what Remus had done enough to verbalise some really complicated feelings; confront Remus about them, which in any realistic relationship would not happen in just one conversation; process whatever Remus had to say as an explanation or defense; and then accept that enough to completely forgive him. because the level of trust and intimacy they show in OotP can only exist between two people who’ve worked through their past mistakes and have built a new relationship.

so taking all that into account: either Sirius forgave Remus with illogical ease, or he didn’t blame him much in the first place. either is a wild double standard, but to me in my little headcanon it makes sense. I think Sirius does have a double standard when it comes to Remus. I think he sees him through this lens of Remus being exceptional, because to Sirius he is. there’s something Remus sees in Sirius, some person he allows him to be, some bond they share that could never be possible with anyone else, and I think that Sirius just fundamentally cannot break that. he’ll let almost anything slide. I think it’s the same for Remus, by the way, and one of their most toxic and delicious dynamics. but Sirius is always willing to give so much more, just by his very nature, that means he compromises to an unhealthy degree, and I definitely think Remus takes advantage of that sometimes. this was a lot of my thought process behind a grave mistake and it’s soooooo delicious I want to dig into it so much more.

so I guess my conclusion is that Sirius is a better person than Remus but too unhealthily in love and/or traumatised to demand better of him. or that there are unknown events outside the narrative that absolve Remus of everything! but I prefer the first idea 😈

I’ve been feeling Créa creep up on me as of late and today I went back and reread my little document where I type up random ideas for scenes/fics and I was like. Wow who wrote this. This is really good. Why isn’t there more of this damn. But also wow I really put miss créa through the blender and she is a fine red mist a lot. But that is the life of a ranger…and even when she’s not a ranger anymore I press blend on high and she is sadly used to that

#(I forgot what made me think of it but I had this fantastic idea post war where Créa has tried to keep herself together)#(and it’s one specific incident that really makes her crack- I wrote a really compelling idea of her having PTSD and it unexpectedly)#(manifesting in a place where she didn’t anticipate it. and ofc it’s medieval medicine so they don’t know what PTSD is exactly but they)#(not like we know ptsd anyways. so it’s a really interesting exploration of grief and suppression and dealing with it- or not dealing with)#(it in this case. bc she’s avoided it for years and she’s like. god I fucking miss being a ranger so much. that was ME.)#(now I’m not a ranger anymore and I lost my entire identity)#(she can’t return to Evendim for a long time and desperately misses it. most of her friends are dead)#(or gone up north or treat her differently)#(she feels really isolated and alone even though she’s aware she’s not but it’s a lot to deal with!!! and I didn’t quite have an ending)#(but it was really compelling and I need to return to it one day)#(the other one I wrote ideas for and wrote a small scene was crea’s first experience meeting rangers)#(back when the angle was new. sighs. the potential…crea interacting with and learning ranger culture for the first time)#(after being alienated and kept away not of her own will. and her having a scene with faeron and standing on the bridge with him)#(but also of her thinking of what her life might’ve been like had she not been lied to about her heritage or had it hidden)#(she’s at a huge disadvantage-she barely knows dúnedain/elf history or sindarin etc. she could’ve had a whole different life)#(and AGAIN the theme of GRIEF- grieving smth that was kept from you. a life you’ll never have but could’ve)#(anyways. that probably all could’ve been in a post LOL and not in tags)#(but yeah damn!!! Twitter Tagging System =/= Tumblr Tagging System

I know a lot of people are moving to Tumblr from Twitter after all the chaos, so I’m writing this in hopes people will be able to interact with others better if they understand the tagging system for Tumblr as it is when I’m writing this.

Your biggest reminder for tags: This is a blogging website.

General tagging system and how people use it:

On Twitter people have always written #theirtaghere to tag their posts within the post itself. Tags on Twitter exist for people to find your post - in other words, directly for engagement of the content posted.

On Tumblr, tags (not written directly in the post itself) are used for two things primarily: Getting your post out to a wider audience outside of just your followers, and for blog organization as well as to be able to find posts on your blog later.

Twitter has never had an archive system where you can search a tag to find all your tagged posts later. Tumblr has this. In other words, for example, if you’re in a fandom, you may find posts where two or more characters are interacting. The post may be tagged with all of the characters involved in the post, but you may not like whatever opinions or comments are on the post. However, it’s not necessarily tagged specifically so people who are fans of what was tagged will see your hot takes. Chances are, it’s so they can access it at any time via their blog, as tags are searchable on our own accounts here.

What you can do to avoid your not necessarily positive fandom commentary (or hot takes you don’t want people seeing) from going into searchable tags is to avoid tagging the fandom or characters involved in the post that you don’t feel highly about, only tagging the one(s) you aren’t being negative about (ex. I love this character but I hate this character, so I’ll avoid tagging the character I hate so it won’t show up in people’s search results where they’ll be looking for nice, positive content or they probably wouldn’t be in that search).

This is NOT the same as tagging on Twitter (or writing out full search keywords on Twitter which also picks things up and puts them in searches where people will be looking for positive content of what they like). Tags on Tumblr only go into searchable tags if the post is a new post and not a reblog. If you do hate that one fandom or character, you can write the name out in full in your tags if it’s a reblog! Reblog tags are literally just there for archiving purposes. They won’t show up in searches.

Another way of being able to tell if someone is just tagging a new, non-reblog post for archiving: are they using the fandom/character’s full title/name? For example, are they using only a fandom abbreviation (ex. some people might tag Attack on Titan as AoT, The Umbrella Academy as TUA, or A Song of Ice and Fire as ASoIaF)? They may be trying to avoid putting something into the main tag but want it available to be found on their blog (this is not always the case, but you should always keep in mind that it might be before engaging with their post).

Same with characters name: for example, since this blog is fandom specific, I don’t need to use full names because I know who everyone is within this blog’s fandom, so I only use first names. That’s an example of tagging for archiving purposes - only tagging it so it can be found later and not necessarily for it to be found in searches. Unfortunately some characters do have very unique names that you won’t find in other/a lot of other fandoms, so they’ll show up in tags using only first names, but generally if you’re actively looking for post engagement, you’re going to be typing out the character’s full name if they have one.

Also, people tend to use tags to continue their thoughts if they’re offhand thoughts less related to the topic in the post (such as going off on a semi-unrelated tangent but it’s on their mind). You may see lengthy conversational tags! It’s just something people here do to add to their thoughts and express them without mixing those thoughts with the main post when they may not totally fit in with it.

On that note, you may also see people reply in the tags instead of directly on the post. Often this is a way of adding one’s thoughts to the post but not necessarily wanting it to circulate on the post. Your tags will stay only on your blog, so the next reblogger that finds the post through you won’t reblog it having your thoughts all over it (unless they really loved your tags, in which case they may reblog it with your tags, which is generally a compliment here). If you want your thoughts to be potentially reblogged you can of course reply on the post itself - just remember that those thoughts may be seen by a lot of people depending on the post going around. Some people also use tags as a way to compliment artists and writers. When people reblog art and writing, they probably don’t want some random person’s comments on the art or writing they’re enjoying (and will have to go to the OP’s version of the post from their blog to get the original without the comments on it). They probably want to just reblog the OP’s work. Your tags can be seen by the OP in their notes activity, so leave all your kind, warm, fuzzy compliments in the tags so they can read them! Sometimes they may even send you an ask or a message in response if they have something to say!

One last thing to note for general tagging: USE SPACES IN YOUR TAGS HOLY HELL YEEHAW MOTHERTRUCKER TRUCKING ON THE HIGHWAY. Do NOT write “AttackonTitan” or “ASongofIceandFire” as a tag, because Tumblr users don’t use the search function that way! You’re not going to get engagement if that’s what you're looking for! When you’re writing in that little #tags bar under your post, just write out the full series name/character name with spaces.

Avoiding negative interaction:

So say you want to avoid people finding your content altogether because people can be jerks and will send you hate. You can make your own tags for things. Tags you can consider trying out are things like “[user’s name here]’s rambles” or “[fandom name/character name negativity]”.

Now, if people look up “x fandom/character negativity” despite loving the thing in question and engage with posts in there, that’s their own fault and they deserve to be upset for looking into the tag in the first place. Maybe don’t look into a tag you know you won’t like the content of.

On that same train of thought, if you see a post with commentary about something you like but it’s negative and you hate it, make sure you check how it’s tagged before flying into a rage on the person. If you looked at the Attack on Titan tag and you found hate for Armin or something, but how dare they, you love Armin!... don’t reply to it with your bullshit. Don’t send them hate. Don’t even interact with the post. Scroll past it and move on. Why? Because you found that post in the general fandom tag, not the Armin Arlert tag.

Now, if you do find hate for Armin in the Armin Arlert tag, let me tell you, that’s super shitty of the person to tag his full name with their hate. If you’re tagging something that you’re hating on, you know people are going to find that post when they look through the tag. People look through tags to find content they enjoy, not to see someone bitching about what they love. Don’t be the annoying asshole who tags your hate with a character’s full name. Yes, even if it’s for archiving purposes for your own blog. Just use another tag, such as just his first name (as people will usually be searching for full names when looking for content they enjoy due to some names being very common throughout fandoms/series). If you prefer to use a totally custom tag, that works too!

HOWEVER! Dearies, if you see hate in a tag and you love the subject of the tag, please just block the person and move on. Don’t waste your time and energy sending them anything about it just to let them know you’re angry/upset. If you think it might have been an accident/unintentional because the person is not aware of how the Tumblr tagging systems works, feel free to drop them an ask or message (if messages for non-mutuals is allowed by them on their blog which can be found in your blog’s settings), but BE POLITE about it. Just kindly inform them in case they’re unaware. If they reply to you being a fuckwad jerk about it, block them and move along. Again though, just do your best not to engage with tagged negativity (or negativity at all if you can help it).

Tumblr is a blogging site for long form content (the complete opposite of Twitter) and nowadays also artwork, so people are going to want to tag their posts to find them later! Just be mindful of how you tag things, and be mindful of how you interact with posts that you may not agree with.

oh btw i get even more why brennan (like me) clocked sophomore year fabian as fucked up and sad even if some of the other pcs were like "what are you talking about dude" . it's because the basic core theses of fabian and leiland eftbk as characters are actually pretty similar

#AND matt mercer was like 'yes absolutely. my character has so many issues' meanwhile b4 lou could even say anything siobhan/adaine #went 'fabian isnt depressed his life rules.'#which like. 1) deeply incorrect statement. 2) fairly in character for adaine to say. 3) unfortunately this caused #a pretty big shift in tone w regards to how seriously fabian's arc ended up being executed #2.5) i could write a whole other post on how point 2 could be a super interesting thing to explore w adaine #she starts off so aware of there being no love from her parents towards her. so she sees love between a parent and a child #and cant conceptualize their relationship being ultimately harmful. like she learned long ago that there was no point seeking approval from #her parents meanwhile fabian made it his whole entire life's goal to do just that thing. both of them are fucked up in opposite directions.#crunchy concept yet very unexplored. and i'm not expecting this to happen in a potential s3 im just throwing ideas around like basebal #d20 #eftbk #fantasy high #sorry wrote all those tags then forgot to elaborate on how fabian and leiland are similar anyway it's this whole idea of #having this unhealthy dependency on the approval of someone you admire to the ends of the earth despite them being #fully and clearly a toxic influence on you. The whole illusion of inflated self worth howthat all crumbles when you Realize how fragile you #whole entire worldview was. and THEN you have an embarrassing breakdown in front of ur friends #and this is SO terrifying because you have really tried your best to look really cool and put-together in front of them #it's the 'getting knocked down SO hard and having to build yourself up by recognizing the love from your friends #+finding something completely different from the person you hinged your entire being on in order to find your way to the surface' of it all #also galfast/whitclaw are surprisingly similar narrative wise it's so funny to me. th storytelling series of nat 1s against an op enemy </3 #i think it WAS easier to execute leiland's character arc in the way it was bc a) he was played to be so CLEARLY insecure from minute 1 #and b) it is very easy to condemn ripoff sauron and say 'yeah this guy sucked and we're glad that leiland and maggie are free from him'#meanwhile for fabian. a) he has convinced himself that nothing is wrong with him even though there so clearly is #and b) you have to acknowledge that bill loved his son so deeply yet was such a bad influence on him #it's such a bittersweet-bitter complexity and i imagine it would be super hard to pull off esp when bill and fabian's dynamic is #played as fairly comedic most of the time. in this vein of 'this evil guy is so evil but he cares about his son this hard and it's funny'#and also just the fact this kind of bitter complicated parent-child dynamic is very rarely portrayed and pulled off well.#WHY the fuck are these tags so long if you read all this i'm so sorry

not posting this anywhere like ao3 since it's much too short and also unpolished but today i feel like sharing so here we are ✌️

"I don't understand," Jürgen enunciated slowly, "why everybody thinks that to have a rivalry, we have to hate each other."

Only half listening, Pep hummed in acknowledgment, one side of his face pressed tightly against Jürgen's chest. Jürgen absentmindedly patted Pep on the back in comfort. His arms were wrapped around the other man's body, holding their bodies close together. They were both very tactile people, and he knew that this type of sensory stimulation was what helped Pep unwind.

"Who cares if we are friends, if we are not friends, if we like each other, if we don't," Jürgen continued. His built-up annoyance at the media was leaking out, but he didn't try to stop it. He knew Pep understood. "Football is just a game. Why would I want to hate anyone because of that."

"Let those guys say whatever they want." Pep closed his eyes momentarily. "They know nothing. Especially Twitter."

It wasn't the first time Pep had brought up Twitter to the uninitiated Jürgen. Privately, Jürgen wasn't entirely sure why Pep continued to use the site, since it only ever seemed to be a cause for complaint, but he kept these thoughts to himself. "They don't know anything," he agreed. "Not least about how important you are to me.

At this, Pep stirred in his grasp, and Jürgen let his arms gently fall away. Pep moved to look Jürgen in the eye, brown gaze piercing, and stood there for a moment without speaking.

"Thinking again?"

At Jürgen's comment, Pep blinked back into reality. "I was just thinking about how I should say the same to you."

Jürgen felt a smile growing on his face, which was smothered not a moment later as Pep pressed their lips together. He responded immediately and instinctively in kind, raising a hand to the nape of Pep's neck to draw him in closer.

If their football matches were rollercoasters, this was a ride down a lazy river. They kissed slowly but with passion. As opponents, their intensity flowed in opposite directions, but here they combined together to form one. Pep's hand found its way to Jürgen's chest, resting there in support as it often did. It was comfortable and natural.

Their lips separated eventually, hands still placed on each other's bodies and with no intention to remove them. As if neither wished to let go.

"Are you ready for the weekend?" Pep asked. He didn't need to elaborate. They were set to face each other again. Trust Pep to be the one thinking ahead.

Jürgen exhaled heavily. "No," he said. Then he laughed to himself. "No, I am not. So let's not talk about that in this moment."

"Okay," Pep said, and melted back into his embrace.

She is still sitting there, one arm settled above the slight swell of her stomach, and there is still the ghost of the warmth of the weight of his hand, the span of it, all finger to thumb spread across their son—she knows it is a son, draped beneath the fabric of her kameez—and then, still, the way that he has stopped weeping at last, and has crossed the length of the room, standing in the doorway as if he does not want her to hear him in case he resumes. He is silent for a long while, after that, shadow cast across the threshold, chasing after what little light is left, his gaze caught on the curve of her jhumka. It is, it seems, a distraction for him, something to buy time, but she does not prod. She knows that he will speak, eventually, and so she waits, and allows him this, since no one else will and there is no one else who has.

I hope, he says, once he has composed himself as best as he can, that I am not hurting you, but what he means to say is I hope I have not hurt you not with this never with this I would not be able to bear it. What he means to say, with that smile of his, hollowed out with grief, is that he does not want to burden her with the thought of a child, with the thought of someone who could make her a mother and then leave her, like he has had to leave his own. What he means to say, since the thought is already here, is that he does not know if he will be able to prevent it, this leaving, and he does not want to have to apologize. She hears all of this, somehow, and yet none of it. Even in this, there are the sound of bangles, still coming up from his throat, and she cannot smile. Even in this, his hands are still shaking.

So she calls him back, and lets her hands cord through his hair, and lets him press himself to her hipbone like he is afraid that she will break—like he is afraid that he will break—and says nothing. She does not think there is much more he can say in words, from that distance, that will allow itself to leave him. She does not think it will be worth it now if he tries.

hii! I talked about pack fic 2 here, you sent this while I was typing away (aka staring at my phone while occasionally writing a word)

prompt 98 is the fic I’m writing for the @1daboficfest! I picked prompt 98 (surprise surprise) which was A!H and O!L where alphas can only knot with their soulmates. (but with a twist)

so this fic includes a lot of new things for me to write; soulmates, alpha Harry but mainly it’s writing Narry for the first time!! I’m so excited to explore that, and it’s been a lot of fun during brainstorming, outlining and the few scenes I’ve started writing the dialogue for.

it’s a bit of a two part story, two different life stages and two different relationships. but it’s also all intertwined. I don’t know how to explain it without giving the entire plot away, but I think this is vague enough 😂

Send a 🌟 + name and I’ll talk about my self-insert’s bond to that character! - Alright, so:

Citri with Fiora: Citri and Fiora don't actually have an especially close bond, although they are both from Colony 9 so they have known each other for a long time. It's a bit of a rivalry stemming mainly from Fiora's side, since Citri is also close with Shulk and the others but shares more of Shulk's interest in technology and the sciences so she naturally probably ends up a slightly closer friend to him. I haven't quite established how Fiora's place in the story changes with Citri in the picture yet, since she does kind of take over most of Fiora's role later in the game, but one idea I had was for Fiora to still also get taken and turned into a Face pilot - she just pilots a different Faced Mechon that isn't Face Nemesis in my version of events. In that instance, we could bond more over being in the same situation and reflect on how it has affected us, though there would possibly still be some disparity over the whole "Citri had the soul of a goddess put into her body and is somehow inexplicably getting on really well with her" thing.

Citri with Egil: Citri initially shows great disdain for Egil, which is perhaps understandable considering that his attacks on the Bionis using the Mechon are the reason why there are so few Homs colonies remaining, and the reason why she was captured and taken away from her home. However, as things progress, she does come to understand his reasoning more after spending time on the Mechonis and hearing Vanea talk more about him and how he used to be. She definitely respects the fact he is willing to agree to a truce with Shulk at the Mechonis Core, and understands that he was essentially lashing out to protect himself/his people and the Mechonis as a whole, rather than being an aggressor. In an AU situation where he was able to stay alive, I think we would eventually end up fairly amicable (all things considered), especially since - with Citri being Vanea's partner and Egil being Vanea's sister - we would probably interact quite a lot, initially through both being so linked to Vanea but then eventually more of our own accord. I definitely do quite like Egil as a character myself, so I'd like to have at least some form of a bond with him somehow~
