i don't remember what i said in the first - and like... only lmao - post about it so if i restate some things! fuckign oopsie! (a lot of this is just Barnaby &/or Wally asbdjasj im sorry) also this got! so fucking long!

~ (im gonna talk about their middle/highschool years a lot so keep in mind the time frame is late 90s / early 2000s. they graduate high in either 2006/2007. so. yk. obvious warning for homophobia, transphobia, etc)

fun lil thing no.1)

so Barnaby & Wally briefly meet for the first time in the summer before 7th grade. the town Barnaby grows up & goes to school in isn't tiny, but it's not huge either. - i don't have a very good frame of reference for how many students are typically in a school, bc in both my middle/high there was at least nearly 2k of us. - so we'll just say it's smaller than that - a respectable, normal size, however many students that is. but Barnaby's school rarely, if ever, got any new kids.

so Wally randomly appeared on the edge of the Beagle farm one day, staring directly at Barnaby from across the fields. before Barnaby could go say hi, Wally vanished - but! on the first day of 7th grade, they wound up sharing a class. ofc within the day Wally was known as not only the new kid, but a weird kid at that. for the first week he sat next to a kid who had zeroed in on that and was an ass about it. Barnaby - already having an established rep as class clown & also widely well-liked by his peers - would try to stand up for Wally (from across the room) whenever that kid was being a dick to Walls in front of the class

by the end of that first week, seating arrangements were shifted, and Barnaby was seated next to Wally for the first semester instead. ofc the moment Barnaby sat down, he tried to strike up conversation and cracked a killer joke. and Wally, as we all know, doesn't laugh. he doesn't even blink! it rattles Barnaby to his core - not everyone laughs at his jokes, but there's always some kind of reaction!

class begins before Barnaby can be like "hey that. that was a joke. you're supposed to laugh". the whole hour all he can think about is the strange new kid next to him Who Didn't React To Barnaby's Joke. when the bell rings, Barnaby lingers as Wally (very slowly) packs up to go to his next class and walks him there. on the way he explains the joke, and Wally does the whole "oh. ha ha." thing. this all makes Barnaby very late to his next class (he's usually very punctual and never late - he doesn't want to disappoint his mama!) but for once he does not care.

Barnaby has been struck with this soul-deep need to get a genuine reaction out of Wally. he needs to make that guy actually laugh. it's all he can think about. he seeks Wally out for lunch, tries to find him after school (can't), looks for him in the halls. and to be clear! this is all very platonic! well, ok, these two kinda muddle the line BUT they have no romantic interest in each other. Barnaby just... really wants to be the new kid's friend. he wants to make him laugh. it's a friendship crush! platonic yearning! an inescapable desire to please & be accepted! he wants Wally's approval so so badly!

basically, Barnaby says "you're the weirdest person i've ever met (affectionate, intrigued, entranced)" and Wally replies "thank you (proud)"

in my mind, Barnaby was a small kid. he was one of those kids who seemed like they were either gonna stay short, or just barely reach average height. he got his main growth spurt when he was like.... 16. it was very sudden. he lived the classic trope of "teen gets way taller over the summer and startles everyone on the first day of school". im talkin he goes from around 5'7 to 6'3. shoots right up like bamboo! and he's still not full height yet! mf is gonna cap out at 6'6!

on the flip side, Howdy was always just. so tall. he was that kid who towered over his peers from the start! ofc he got teased relentlessly for it (along with the transatlantic accent he started talking w/ at a young age and refuses to stop - among other eccentricities), but yk. he already got constant comments from his huge family about it, so he grew a thick skin pretty early on.

Poppy, on the other hand - the last of the three giants - had it worse than both of them! she wasn't outright taller than Howdy, and didn't have a sudden growth spurt like Barnaby, but steadily grew over the years until she was the tallest teen in town. this hit her hard bc not only did it draw unwanted attention to her & make her a target, but it made her dysphoria way worse (Poppy doesn't realize she's trans until highschool, and then doesnt medically transition until her early 20s)

but! once she started getting super tall, Howdy essentially glued himself to her a la "we tall guys gotta stick together!" a classic 'extrovert adopts introvert' thing. Poppy had no say in the matter.

everyone's family sucks - except for Barnaby's, Howdy's, and Eddie's. well, mostly Eddie's. in my head they meant well but just... didn't really see the harm they were doing to him. he never spoke up, and they never saw him deeper than surface level.

but Frank's family? horrible. eugh. he was the school's "out gay kid" - not of his own choice! his peers picked up on it because it was very obvious. then the teachers heard, and let his parents know because of course they did, etc etc. Frank's home life was already shitty, and then getting outed (without any real proof or confirmation) made it a hundred times worse. he was a pretty depressed teen (emo Frank lets go) with mild anger issues & a habit for picking fights. but anyway on his eighteenth birthday he packed up his essentials into a backpack, escaped out the back, and never returned.

and Julie's siblings were alright, but their parents and grandparents were all very ~traditional~. it wasn't as rough as Frank's - it was more of a neglectful, passive-aggressive "you're all disappointments' household. ex: Jonesy was known as the local pothead & dealer, and his parents essentially pretend he's not part of the family despite him living in their basement. Bea had a bad (untrue) reputation, Franny was the goth weirdo who people blamed for their problems, etc. and then Julie was always different from "normal girls", and so her parents chalked her up as a mistake as well. but hey! at least the sibs were in it together! and the parents didn't care if Frank stayed over!

Poppy's family was great up until her parents caught her trying on a skirt Sally had made for her. it was a horrible, terrible downhill slide from there. they forced her to join the basketball team, made her keep her door open at all times, etc. for a while she couldn't even see her friends, though eventually they started sneaking in through her window & passing her notes in class. messaging in a 'secret' chatroom yk how it is. Poppy never directly stood up to her parents (very understandable & valid) but she rebelled in small ways. lying about having an after-school thing so that she could be with her friends, convincing her parents to let her go to a study group when in reality she'd be having a girls' night with Sally & Julie & Julie's sisters @ the Beagle farm.

Sally's family was similar to Julie's in that they were more lukewarm towards her than outright abusive. they thought she was too loud, too flamboyant, too expensive, too obvious, pretty much too everything. they wanted her to be normal - Sally wanted to stand on the roof and wax (loud) poetic about damsels. she wasn't outright bullied for being gay like Frank was, but it was certainly a common rumor that she was a lesbian. as a result, most of the girls at school wanted nothing to do with her, and the guys loved to provide commentary on the subject. her parents tried their best to ignore that truth and acted like she was totally straight. sure. still, Sally always refused to compromise on who she was, and treated it all like a mild annoyance. totally didn't hurt her at all. yep. (sarcasm)

there isn't anything known about Wally's family. not even Barnaby knows about them. the group tossed theories around (amongst themselves) over the years - was he an orphan? foster kid? was his family / home life so horrific that he doesn't want anyone to know? all they know is that he became an emancipated minor as young as legally possible and started living in Home, his (admittedly very spacious & high quality) RV. and they didn't even know about that until their junior year except for Frank

on the other side of the coin!

Ms. Beagle was the friend group's favorite adult growing up. the Beagle Farm was a common refuge & hangout spot for them, and Ms. Beagle let all of Barnaby's strange & delightful little friends know that there's always a guest room open for them, should they ever need it. and as a respected member of the community (and provider for the best chicken eggs in town), anyone who tried to speak up against the kids was Immediately shut the fuck down. Ms. Beagle took no shit. if people were talking ill about that "group of depraved teenage fuckups" and Ms. Beagle turned the corner, all conversation would cease until she was well out of earshot. she likes to say that she has 6 kids, all of whom she loves dearly and is very proud of <3

Howdy's family is too damn big to care. not in a neglectful way, just in a "oh, you're friends with... who was it again? Franz? invite him over to dinner someti- STOP PUNCHING YOUR BROTHER-" there's too much chaos, too many things to keep track of to care if Howdy's friends are gay, or trans, or absolutely fucking bizarre. they'll blend right in! Howdy could bring them over for dinner without telling his family and none of them would blink twice! Howdy mentioned that his friends have bad home lives Once and his parents immediately insisted that he bring them over for next week's thanksgiving so that they don't have to deal with that during what should be a holiday. thus began the All Six Of Us + Ms. Beagle + Franny/Bea/Jonesy Attend The Pillar Family Thanksgiving. its incredibly chaotic every time. there's so many fucking people. they're too busy fighting for survival (bread rolls) to bother with manners or awkwardness. every time they leave feeling like they fought a war. none of the friend group has missed a single year.

Wally & Barnaby have had three fights. each are catastrophic and threatened to tear the friend group apart. because those two are closer than anyone - they are each others person. they would both rather chug rat poison than willingly hurt each other. and while Barnaby - a pretty easygoing guy - can get riled up, Wally... really can't. he's never angry. even things that Should make him angry only make him confused or sad. he's too kind, too earnest, a bit of a pushover. he'll just take it with a smile.

so when Wally stands his ground, they all know shit is going tf down. code red, everyone brace. and if he stands his ground against Barnaby? pack a fucking go-bag and ditch town until the storm blows over.

the first time was when Barnaby found out that Wally lives in a damn RV. Wally got weirdly defensive about it, Barnaby was upset that Wally never even told him but somehow Frank knew (he had a bad night & couldn't go home, Julie was unavailable, and Wally found him and took him to the RV for the night) & that Wally is living alone in an RV at all, etc etc - it was a huge fight. & it just kept getting worse. when Barnaby tried to get Wally to move to the farm - that was the first time he's ever heard Wally snap at anyone, let alone him. and since the friend group is fully established at this point, and they're all hopelessly entangled in each others' lives, it affects all of them. sides have to be chosen - there is no neutral party on this. Wally ended up vanishing for a week without a word, and his RV vanished from where it had been parked thus far. the group was in shambles. when Wally turned back up, he actively avoided them all. it took Barnaby tracking down the rv and not leaving until Wally talked to him to have a conversation and fix things. but hey! the disaster actually helped them get even closer!

the second fight was when Barnaby had to go back to the Beagle Farm for their second year of community (Ms. Beagle had a minor accident and needed his help running the farm). Wally wanted to drop out too & go with him, and it turned into a big deal of Barnaby trying to get him to stay while Wally gets unusually pushy & upset about it. the fight wasn't nearly as bad as the RV one, and was more just sad/distressing, but it was still a fight. they parted on less than stellar terms, which they both felt horrible about. Wally has to go through the last year of community alone - he hasn't been alone in many years at this point, and since they met he's never been without Barnaby.

the third fight comes many years later, and this one is the worst. the friend group has all graduated university(those that attended), they're living in the same town, Barnaby & Wally (technically) share a house, Eddie is part of the group now. once again, its over everyone's favorite RV, Home. Home is very old at this point - Wally has had it for around 15 years, and he didn't get it new, and it's been through a lot. Wally is still half living in it, even though it's starting to fall apart. Barnaby brings up the notion that maybe it's time to send the old thing off to a dump, or find a way to put it in storage. they can't keep up the upkeep. it's time to say goodbye to it. Wally flips his fucking lid - or his version of it, anyway. because, uh. no. absolutely fucking not. it's already a very touchy subject, and emotions rise fast. Wally initially shuts down the conversation immediately. over the next week or so, few weeks maybe, tension between Barnaby & Wally simmers. the entire friend group is holding their breath. Barnaby wants the RV gone, as sad as he is about it. Wally won't allow it. of course they reach a breaking point - Barnaby pulls the "i own the property its parked on" card, Wally threatens to leave. of course that scares Barnaby, but that fear mixes with the anger and he fully yells at Wally for the first time. and then Wally shoves him. or tries to - it does nothing physically, but emotionally? it immediately drains all anger from the situation. Wally has never purposefully raised a hand against anyone ever, for any reason. and yet he tried to shove Barnaby. Wally immediately turns tail and runs - he locks himself in the RV, and Barnaby goes to Howdy's.

at Howdy's, Wally calls Barnaby. at first Barnaby jumps at the chance to apologize and try to work something out, but then he recognizes the background noise - Wally is driving Home somewhere. that RV is absolutely not fucking safe to drive anymore. the conversation immediately derails and goes from 0 to 100 within a second. Howdy is off to the side nervously sipping at his beer as Barnaby argues w/ Wally. the phone call abruptly cuts off, Barnaby says "the little bastard hung up on me" and starts Ranting. he says things he doesn't mean, obviously, and Howdy is trying to get him to chill tf out. he's just too angry/scared/hurt/worried yk?

but don't worry Barnaby! Wally didn't hang up on you! yeah so a while later (a little over an hour i think), Barnaby gets a call! it's from the town hospital! yeah so he's Wally's emergency contact, and apparently Wally "hanging up on him" was actually Wally getting into a horrendous accident. it wasn't his fault! there was a drunk driver! but it's... bad. the drunk driver had died in the crash, and since it was night and no one was around, help was a long time coming for Wally. its a miracle that someone found him & called an ambulance in time! so Barnaby realizes that the whole time he was talking shit & being angry, his best friend was slowly dying in a ditch somewhere, alone and in pain. and that's a whole thing!

time for some fun "facts"!

the first time Eddie went over to Frank's place, he immediately fainted when Frank turned the lights on & Eddie saw that he was surrounded by pet tanks filled with Very Large Bugs. then he fainted again when Frank removed the tarantula from its tank to clean said tank.

Wally & Barnaby's cat is named Welcome! she's usually small & pitch black with a permanently bristled tail! she's actually Barnaby's - he found her in a park as a kitten, and her unnerving stare reminded him of Wally so he took her home. Wally would like a dog! Barnaby would not! the cat is their only pet and will remain their only pet, no compromise. Wally retaliated by gluing googly eyes & dog ears onto a rock he found, then painting it. its name is Barnaby. Barnaby has beef w/ it a la Elmo & Rocco when Wally isn't looking

one time, during a group trip to the annual Pillar Family Thanksgiving, the gang stopped at a cabin-themed diner. Sally gasped at stopped Barnaby at the door "We must leave - you can't eat here". when everyone asked why, she pointed at a decorative sign on the wall: Don't Feed The Bears. it instantly became a smash hit inside joke that sometimes backfires (like that one time they go camping and Barnaby acts like he can't open the bear-proof dumpsters & locks & coolers). Howdy once got a "dont feed the bears" sign to put up in the store's diner section as a joke, but as soon as Barnaby saw it he left and refused to come back until Howdy took it down. he'd stand outside the store window and gaze at Howdy from afar w/ the biggest, saddest puppy eyes. it was incredibly effective

speaking of Howdy's store! they all built it together! Howdy managed to get his hands on an abandoned shell of an old building, and they all refurbished/renovated it! they all had the collective skills to get it done. Wally helped draw up blueprints & directed the color-scheme / painting portion, Sally and Barnaby used their carpentry skills, etc.

when Eddie "reconnects" with everyone, he feels like he's going insane. 'cause he keeps running into people who are familiar enough that it bothers him, but he just can't place where they're from (most if not all of them look very different from the last time he saw them in highschool). it drives him nuts! and then he meets Wally and Wally's like "oh! Eddie! it's you!" and Eddie's all "uh... how did you know myna- OH MY GOD IT'S YOU". he has a small crisis because he's over that time in his life, he's in a much better place, he's grown as a person. then he realizes that it's not just Wally but the entire fucking friend group he agonized over wanting to befriend for years and years. the group that (unintentionally) made him feel completely alone and like he was living a lie. and he keeps. running. into them. so Eddie, who just moved to this town, starts looking at mail carrier opportunities elsewhere bc he is Not doing this again - only for Julie to show up and drag him to a friend group function. because they all got together and went "oh, you caught up w/ Eddie too?? so we're in agreement? great! he's ours now! Julie, go get him". and then they accidentally break Eddie's wrist in a zealous game of soccer-baseball-corntoss & from then on won't leave him alone <3

Wally keeps his hair consistently dyed a rich royal blue - even his eyebrows! he continuously touches it up so his roots are never showing! Barnaby keeps his hair dyed blue in solidarity, but to a lesser extent - his roots show, and he doesn't dye his eyebrows or his sideburns/beard

on that vein, Wally has a very extensive hair-care routine he does every morning. he straightens his natural curls out, manipulates his hair into that absurd swirl, and hairsprays it to death. & gels down everything else. shit's Airtight. then at night he has an equally elaborate routine of washing the hairspray/gel out, treating his hair with high quality shampoos/conditioner/oils, and blowdrying it with impeccable technique to keep it Healthy

continuing on that vein - one time Barnaby was makin' breakfast when he heard a crash from upstairs. he sprinted to go see if Wally was alright, but Wally had locked the bathroom door and refused to open up. after Barnaby convinced him to, the door opened to reveal a very miserable Wally still in his towel. his hair was green. "the bottle said dye-safe', he said. the bottle lied. he wore hats for a while.

ok im gonna stop here! this is an absurd amount! i got carried away!

infodumping about rain world ancient ocs- about that ask i just answered

just in case the incredible @inkycorvid wanted me to talk about my ancient ocs instead of my ancient headcanons im making a post talking about my idiot guys in a very annoying structure. gotta cover all my bases

MANY SMALL "FLOWERS", ONE QUICK GLANCE

he/him, bisexual, sometimes has beard barbells sometimes doesn't. middle aged (in genetically modified to live for a longass time terms), very much divorced. admin to eleven rivers, not very nice to eleven rivers.

HOW TO IDENTIFY A FLOWERS IN THE WILD:

-like never smiles, always looks either pissed off or miserable

-his mask is very wedge-shaped. big karma 10 symbols on sides

-practically every time red is used in the context of my rain world ocs it relates to him. either symbolically or literally. see red highlights???? probably flowers' fucking fault!!

-two strands of hair always fall in face

-wears wrappings often. once my bf said he probably wouldnt get divorced so hard if he wasnt dressed like a weird mummy

-no left ear

COOL FLOWERS FACTS

-comes from a considerably privileged background. family had incredibly high expectations

-traumatized by everlasting fire's attack and afraid of iterators. will not enter a puppet chamber unless entirely necessary

-creates strong emotional attachments and reacts to rejection with self-isolation and bitterness

-late game, before he begins his plan to demolish eleven rivers and ascend himself but after the twins are awake he begins drinking an unhealthy amount and projecting his anger all over the place, especially towards rivers

-likes vultures. thinks they're crazy neat

-does not and can not have any comprehension of the ramifications his douchebaggery will bring about in the future (huge rammies. absolutely massive rammies)

-becomes an echo when he tries to ascend. his echo sits right snug over eleven rivers' chamber!

FLIGHT TO THE SUN, HOMEWARD "DESCENT"

she/her, bisexual, sometimes wears fancy shinies on her hair. middle aged in modified to live a very long time terms. flowers' ex wife. doing WAY better than him. admin to a fleck of flame, very nice to a fleck of flame.

HOW TO IDENTIFY A DESCENT IN THE WILD:

-blue, cream stripes, frills on upper back

-short face, short hair, short body. short

-walks with cane after everlasting fire's attack

-implant in right ear later game, ear still there

-does in fact smile! makes lots of smug faces. she is in general very emotionally intense and expressive, and is also very morally headstrong. quick to jump to anger when she thinks lines have been crossed.

COOL DESCENT FACTS

-she was named "flight to the sun, thirteen sparks" at birth, and changed it when she was enrolled in the school of solutions

-punk by ancient society terms. not big on ascension, very much a "don't we have it pretty fuckin good? why are we in such a rush to leave" kind of person

-stayed in the iterator project after fire's failure because in losing him she realized how human the iterators were. spent her life working to make their rights more solid and complexities more widely understood

-very close friends with fleck. looks at fleck as her son, looked at fire as her son as well

-met flowers at the start of their schooling. they quickly bonded as they got to work together and were endorsed for esteemed position together

-left flowers in part because of the trauma surrounding the situation with fire, but more because she didn't like what she was beginning to see in flowers. he invented the first model of the demolishers after fire's attack, which descent hated. they would have split up eventually even if fire had lived and they'd continued work on him together. i think their political views and morals are too different, and their personalities too headstrong for it to've been avoided forever

bark is a very old man who just wants to do his work in peace. cloud is an introvert who is very calm and professional. smoke is pretentious and self-involved. they're a teacher at the school of solutions and endorsed flowers and descent for the esteemed position. west is a hot guy flowers knew in school that he had a short-lived fling with after his divorce. journey was rivers' admin before flowers, but then she went to the void so she had to be replaced.

Bakugou and Midoriya's Relationship Pre-main-cannon Analysis

Ok so I keep reading posts where people seem to think Bakugou has hard-core bullied Izuku for 10 straight years and Im here to squash that. So a kinda analysis of their relationship though the years based off what we know and all major shifts that I think happen based off cannon. As well as some inferred just based off how kids act at certain ages.

Relationship Timeline Guestimation:

This is my best guess on a timeline towards each other.

I would say the biggest guess in this is when the passive bullying actually started. Im guessing end of elementary and start of junior high just based off how kids usually are at that age (friendships shift, preteens try to be cool, purberty starts, ect.)

The biggest theme to their whole relationship is miscommunication so I labeled the timeline based off what an outside POV might label their relationship.

Preschool

Activity regular friends without Katsuki being a massive jerk. Before quirks and then Katsuki gets a big head ect. Most of that is covered extensively in flashbacks in the manga so Im gona gloss over this era.

Elementary

There's not a lot thats been shown directly at this time beyond what we've been shown in the manga (ie Izuku being nicknamed deku). So slightly inferred just based off their personalities and overall age.

Theyre actively friends but Katsuki gets worst and worst through the years and more distant. Though they actually have interations. Plus both these boys are so stubborn that I think theyed stay friendsish through elementary.

So we know they interacted and were around each other:

They were both friends at this point or at least like playmates and I think would continue through a lot of elementary especially early elementary.

Cause its not like Katsuki was popular with most people unsurprisingly:

Even if Katsuki really didnt want it, I think Izuku was one of the only friends that actively showed he cared about him. Even if he really didn't want it.

But with Katsukis insecurities and his kinda warped view of Izuku their friendship was pretty off and on again. Basically at this point in their relationship they both think the other is a slightly jerky friend but still actively care for each other. They get on each others nerves but still consider the other a friend. Also cause theyre in elementary, kids usually just play with whoever is closest and available. Since they lived in the same neiborhood and both have no sibling they would probably be first available for each other, inspite of feelings or insecurities.

Eventually though Katsukis insecurities would win out. (Which to note those really only ever come up when comparisons can come into play or when Katsuki could be precieved as needing help). And Katsuki has the same self awareness emotionally as a cat whos head is stuck in a bag. So he projects those insecurities hard onto Izuku, instead of actual self reflection.

To sum up elementary:

Early Middle School

Turning point from my guess is when Izuku tries to stand up to Katsuki and I think this is where they officially end any friendship and the bullying towards Izuku officially starts. I interpret this scene as either later elementary school or early middle school based off the lankyness of everybody:

So middle of middle school and note that Izuku isnt as actively freaked out by Katsuki approaching. So Katsuki after whenever he beat-up Izuku essentially reaffirm to himself that Izuku cant be a threat, and that he is still the best. Thus calm Katsuki at the start of Middle School. Still a jerk whenever he sees Izuku but doesnt seem to feel the need to actually seek him out. Mostly just dismissive belittling.

Plus no full on Baku-rage directed at Izuku:

Of course as anything hero related starts to come up and Izuku ends up doing his normal thing. Katsuki, like always, gets triggered cause Izuku hits every insecuritie he has.

Turning point happens when Katsuki feels threatened by Izuku again:

Thus Baku-rage is officially engaged! And series starts!

Gold and Silver: I actually don't feel suuuuper too strongly about Ho-oh and Lugia, tbh--though i will say they both have more solid designs than. A Lot of other johto Pokemon imo LMAO. I liked Lugia a lot when I was a kid and that affection has waned a bit as I got older but I do still think it's cool. They both have pretty solid lore as far as Legendaries go, I'm just not particularly attached to 'em...something like a Legends Johto game really has the potential to do something cool with 'em (I feel like with Ho-oh especially) and I do kinda hope we eventually get to see that.

Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald: MY HOMEEEEE Hoenn box Legendary trio sooo near and dear to me...Ruby was my first game Groudon was my first Legendary but I think he's kind of just ok. I like Kyogre a lot more and I Love Rayquaza, definitely a long time favorite Legendary...they're really just a solid trio of Pokemon with some really cool designs and concepts at play, and I like the new lore and forms ORAS gave 'em. Kyogre's Pokemon Pinball boss fight kicks ass to this day and im not kidding.

Diamond, Pearl, Platinum: MY DEAR LATE MIDDLE SCHOOL/EARLY HIGH SCHOOL FRIENDS I thinkkkk as a trio I think I might like Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina the best...Legendaries I never tire of seeing. Palkia is one of my all time favs, gazing so lovingly at my giant Palkia plush ive had for some 15 odd years...Giratina is too, honestly, Giratina fucking Rules (though I actually don't like its Origin form very much and never had...I'm an Altered Form Giratina girlie.) They're just all super solid designs and for Dialga and Palkia especially they really feel like perfect embodiments of The Game Theyre the Cover Of. Also I love Origin Form Dialga and Palkia sorry. Theyre my precious ugly as fuck horses.

Black, White, BW2: WELL. THESE MIGHT TRULY BE THE BEST ONES. Zekrom/Reshiram/Kyurem are not my favorite Trio, but together just everything they represent is so cool. One day we WILL see that Original Dragon so HELP ME GOD. I'm more impartial to Zekrom (i played Black and White 2) but it still has such a striking design, I have to say. Reshiram is an especially beautiful Pokemon and definitely one of my favorites. I have. So Many Reshiram cards and plushes HJFDJGDF And well some people don't like Black and White Kyurem for whatever reason, but well i simply have to say they have been making me crazy since high school and the concept of Pokemon Fusion Really in The Game will never not be fucking bonkers slash POS. i LOVE White Kyurem (go figure.) THATS MY FUCKIN FREEEAK

X & Y: i don't. like X & Y very much 🥴 I wish I liked Xerneas more but something about its design is just kind of lacking some 'oomph' ro me. It doesn't feel like a strong poster child for the Fairy type's debut. Despite everything Yveltal does go hard as fucking hell though I still like it a lot. I named the one I caught in Y HELLRAISER back in college and I was shocked they let me name it that.

Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun/Moon: ok nevermind scratch what I said about DPP Sun and Moon have my favorite Legendary Trio for absolute certain. GOD I WISH SUMO/USUM WERE BETTER GAMES!!!!! SOLGALEO LUNALA AND NECROZMA ARE ALL SO FUCKING COOOOL!!!!! DUSK MANE NECROZMA AND DAWN WINGS NECROZMA ARE SO FUCKING COOOL!!!!!!!!! NECROZMA FUCKING EATS THEM FOR POWER. Just in general fantastic designs all around, and it's so cool that Solgaleo and Lunala are Legendaries That Evolve.also i played Moon/UM but I have grown deeply fond of Solgaleo over the last year or so. As if it's my fault he looks like...no, I shant say.

Sword and Shield: I don't like SWSH very much either 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴which is a shame because Zacien and Zamazenta have really cool concepts and designs!! I love their old tattered beat up forms, I love that theyre siblings 🥺I love that the one that isnt Your box legendary goes with Hop, that's so so sweet and so so cool. I just wish SWSH had more of a..........yknow. story. to do anything else of any substance with them. Cool Legendaries in bad games...sad!

Scarlet and Violet: WELL. THESE MAY ALSO BE THE BEST ONES AND I'LL SAY IT WITH MY WHOLE CHEST. god, just. WOW. I like them both a lot but I'm especially fond of Miraidon, to absolute bits. This really feels like the most realized version of a box art Legendary that really truly is a Character in its own right, you get to spend that whole game with your dragon, it well and truly Is Your Friend and it's just fantastic. Theyre endlessly charming and silly and conceptually just so fucking cool. They killed someone. My motorcycle that eats sandwiches. My BUDDY!!! I named my Miraidon Delta Accel :^)

How do you think he ended up in this job, cooking at a camp in New York, all the way from Australia? What’s the weirdest shit he did over the summer? If we switched someone else out for him as the wolf bait, who should it be and what would he do in their place?

so i do think a lot about how he got here & i have a minor hc that his parents have a pretty demanding job with cushy salaries & he moved in maybe middle school/early high school (bc he has NO clue how to talk to Humans, or maybe he was homeschooled). if Jacob misses the qte to catch his phone, Nick is immediately like "i'll pay for that, im so sorry". obviously he SHOULD, he broke it, why does he do this, but idk it just sticks with me. i would never risk someone else's property, ESP bc i could never afford to replace it if i fucked up. idk. Nick is fucking weird. anyway so i think his parents moved to New York for their job & he's breaking out of his shell, going to camp with other young adults his age

over camp, he's a fucking nightmare. at least ten kids are in on a bet that he's an alien. two others are convinced he's possessed. sometimes he just stands over whatever he's preparing for dinner, completely still, staring at the food without blinking. it doesn't even look like he's breathing. five minutes later, he's totally fine. he sings different words to the camp song every time & it's never the right ones. sometimes he eats raw onion when he's chopping it up. he's never tasted sweet potato. he also stores jars of marinara in the freezer. one counselors swears to god they saw him snap a twig in half between his teeth during a nature walk & another one says he ate a whole acorn

if we could wolf-swap someone, i do think it would be interesting to actually see infected!Abi. the conflict between her, Nick & Emma would've meant a lil more maybe if instead of getting pissy, whiny, aggressive Nick, we could get choices & steadily see Abi get more forceful about if he rlly likes her, asking Kaitlyn why she made that dare when she KNEW what would happen, starting to speak up for herself before it gets too far & she turns (& decapitates nick <3). maybe that's basic but both of those characters felt kind of wasted so :( swapies :) also i feel like Abi should've gotten an opportunity to grow more than just "nervous & unsure & hiding" beyond choosing to either shoot or die

in her place, Nick for sure wouldn't shoot, he's a bitch. (just kidding. kinda.) but honestly i don't even know what he would do. Abi doesn't get to do much but hiding the storm shelter doesn't seem like his thing either. if Emma's in the van, all four of them prolly go to the scrapyard together, which kind of changes the whole thing

Well alright then-

im gonna call the poll early bc im no mandela championship, i dont think either of those assholes are gonna pull from behind- plus Finding Eden was the original title i was gonna go with anyway! lesson learned, miles should go with her gut.

SO HERE'S A SILLY LITTLE LIST OF THINGS THAT ARE CANON TO THE FINDING EDEN AU not all of these are exactly plot-relevant but they are things that will be brought up or are just things i think about a lot

The AU begins the night that Catalyst takes place. In terms of timeline, some things in vol 4 happened a week or two before. It has been 3-4 weeks since the events of vol 2.

Adam and Jonah are 21, Evelin is 20, and Sarah is 22

Adam and Jonah have been friends since kindergarten, they met Evelin in middle school (she's a grade behind everyone, Sarah is a grade ahead)

The 3 of them knew of Sarah in high school but didn't really get close to her until Adam joined the BPS when they were in senior year

Evelin started working at MandelaTech her freshman year of high school

Jonah worked at MandelaTech for about a year after high school. Business took a tank and Dave legitimately had to lay someone off in order to afford things. It was always going to be Jonah because of his wavering dedication to the job. Everything was on good terms though, Jonah was eventually going to quit to do BPS full-time anyway

Dave is Mark and Sarah's uncle and was really close to the both of them when they were younger. Thatcher was also a close friend of the family due to being friends with Dave

Sarah cut all contact with Thatcher and Dave when she started high school, which is when she found out the part Thatcher played in Mark's death and that Dave still keeps in contact with him.

Thatcher taught Sarah how to operate and shoot a gun when she was in middle school. She had been pretty handy with it from a young age and kept practicing even after she cut ties with Thatcher. The Heathcliff Family got pretty big on self-defense after The Incident.

Sarah wears Mark's old crucifix necklace and always carries around a small statue of Saint Anthony he also used to own.

Sarah already has issues with alcohol and smoking cigarettes. She does not like weed though, tried it a few times and hated what it did to her. Sometimes it would get so bad to the point where Jonah would be checking on and regulating how much she smoked a day. The alcohol was a much more private issue.

Both Dave and Sarah occasionally get updates about each other by talking to Evelin. She's kind of like a secret messenger between the two

Adam and Evelin started dating when Evelin was in freshman year

The Breakup happened in late 2008

Adam lives in a mini-home on the outskirts of town

Jonah is the only one who still lived at home with his parents

Sarah's apartment is the messiest and most unorganized shithole you've ever seen, which is much the surprise to the rest of the group who looks to her as the Bythorne Paranormal Society's very well-thought-out and well-planned leader

Evelin's house is full of houseplants and flowers and such, she's always had an affinity for gardening. She even grows some of her own food sometimes. It's also decorated with several photos of her and her mother. Oddly enough, there aren't a lot of photos of Evelin and her mom before she went to middle school, only lone pictures of Evelin herself... Where are all the pictures of her father...

Adam went from foster home to foster home as a kid, and eventually aged out of the system and moved into the mini-home. Jonah and Evelin were the only constants in his life for a long time.

When Sarah turned 18, she moved into her apartment because she wanted independence as soon as possible. Not long after, her parents moved out of Mandela. They offered for Sarah to come with them, but she couldn't bring herself to leave. Not yet.

Besides his parents, only Evelin attended Jonah's funeral. Sarah never made it. I wonder why...

Evelin stole the Murray file she found at the Mandela County Police Station. She's been studying it for about a week now, trying to decipher what it all means...

i know it's become kind of a running joke that millennials (especially 90s kids) are over-the-top nostalgic (and it's true), but the more i think about it, the more it actually makes sense.

i was born in '89. the extent of the technology that was available to me was an NES...and i loved it to death, but i spent most of my time either playing outside or making up stories with my toys. i didn't have screens, other than my parents' old boxy 80s TV. it had a total of six buttons, and the TV guide channel wasn't a thing yet. if i couldn't find a show to watch, it wasn't a big deal, because i could just play. looking back, it was a blissful feeling. freedom.

we didn't get our first real computer until 2001, along with dial-up internet. at this point i was almost 12, and about to enter middle school. email and IM were just becoming valid forms of communication. DVDs were only just starting to really replace VHS tapes. the PS2 had just hit the shelves. all of this stuff was new, especially to my family, who had always been behind on it. and i'd already spent the first decade of my life without any of it, perfectly content.

the internet was great in the beginning, and slowly became even better over the next few years. i spent most of my time on Sailor Moon websites, and eventually on online forums. it was a simple and wonderful time--no ads anywhere, google searches weren't customized to you, and cell phones weren't smartphones yet, so nothing had an app. the internet was also pretty lawless back then--i downloaded music from Limewire and torrented new anime shows to watch. it was a fun and carefree experience.

Myspace became popular when i was in high school. i graduated in 2008, and i wanna say it kinda hit its peak around then. but "social media" as we've come to know it didn't really exist yet. and you could still get by without a smartphone; i didn't get my first one until i was in my early 20s. there was no indication of what was to come.

the 2010s are when it all started going downhill. social media blew up, capitalism took over, service providers started cracking down on pirating, and all the "lawlessness" of the internet vanished, almost as quickly as it had established itself. to someone who grew up without any of it, had it when it was good, then watched it turn into...this...it's like whiplash. that's the best way i can describe it.

and, i think that's exactly the root cause of why 90s kids are so nostalgic. because the crash course that technology has taken happened in the span of our lifetimes, very quickly, and we've lived three separate decades with three very different expectations for existing.

i genuinely miss the simplicity of my childhood, and that old boxy 80s TV. and i genuinely miss the early days of the internet, when everything was still Geocities and Angelfire and web turnpikes. none of that exists anymore, at least not in the same context...and when you loved something and know you'll never get it back, it really makes you wish that you could.

I live in the US and ever since I read angus thongs and perfect snogging in middle school I’ve wanted to understand how British school works. I think we can exchange some information here 🤣 ok so in the US it’s like this: every year you’re in a “grade”, and the school year starts in late August or early September and ends in late May or early June, with a two week break around Christmas that they try to pretend is secular. The first “grade” is “Kindergarten” which you typically start at age 5, so usually everyone is having the same birthday over the course of the school year, but not everyone’s birthday falls just so, and some people skip or repeat grades. After Kindergarten the grades go up like normal i.e. “first grade” “second grade” etc. and the grades are divided up into “schools”. There’s usually elementary (K-5), middle (6-8), and high (9-12) school, but a lot of places alter the delineations or add more. For example, I had intermediate school (5-6), middle school (7-8), junior high (9-10), and high school (11-12) but that’s a bit ridiculous. Then once you graduate 12th grade, you get your high school diploma, and you can go to what we call college at that point, which is “higher education”. There are requirements to “get in” to college, and it costs money to attend. You usually have to take some racist tests and get good scores and send your scores off with applications to colleges and pray that you get accepted by a college that doesn’t cost a million dollars an hour. You are required by law to go to grade school (K-12) but if you drop out you can take a test called the GED to prove you Know Enough and it’s the equivalent of a high school diploma but you don’t have to suffer in actual high school. So how does British school work? I’m thrilled to find out wtf gcse means 🤩 lmao <3

ohhhhh my god ok yes !! lets exchange!!this makes so much sense but i still have so many questions skdjsk i have 2 american cousins so i feel like i should know way more than i do😭😭.

so with the classes you take, how does that work do you just get to choose as many as you want or do you have required classes? and what is an AP class, like is it more advanced? and do ppl take them to help with college applications or smthn? also (sorry im just so curious😭) what is a gpa? like... i have never understood how that works or why its needed lmao.

ok so with english schools we have 'years' but you start at age 4 in reception in primary school. After reception you start year 1, 2 etc and primary school is reception to year 6 (age 4-11). Then in year 6 (age 11) you take these exams called SATs (for maths, english comprehension and english grammar/spelling) which are to help determine your grade targets once you start secondary school, but also if you apply to private secondary schools or even some public schools getting good SATs results helps you get in.

So then secondary school is age 11 to 16 or 18 (depending lmao its a bit complicated). At 16 you do GCSE's which are exams to help you get into sixth form or college (not equivalent to college in the US). At 14 you can choose the subjects you want to take for GCSE's which again is based on your targets. So for example everyone has to take english, maths and at least one science but i had quite high targets so had to follow the baccalaureate where i was required to take all three sciences, a language and either geography or history but then could also choose 2 others (i took food technology and computer science😁). Then you study just those subjects for the next two years, with the exception of P.E. and R.E (religious education🙄) which everyone has to take up to age 16 but you don't have to take the exam for.

Phew ok😅then at 16 you go to sixth form or college. Sixth form is either its own building or part of a secondary school and you have to take either A-levels or BTECs, both are qualifications but you need A-levels to get into university. BTEC's are more career focused i believe, so things like engineering, construction, media, IT etc. A-levels are basically just your usual schools subjects and you can take 3 (sometimes 4) and then when you apply to uni they have specific requirements. Like if you want to study medicine you need an alevel in biology and chemistry for example. Then colleges are only for 16-18yr olds, they offer courses that are again more career focused, for example by 17yr old brother is in college atm doing photography.

The school year is pretty similar here i think, we have a 6 week summer holiday, 2 weeks at christmas and 2 at easter but we also have half-terms which is basically a week off in the middle of each term (so in october, february and may/june). University is completely different though bc we dont get the half-terms :(

happy 4/20 here are some thoughts on my humanstuck au

kankri (marcus) + mituna (tatum) live together. damara (ana) has been crashing there for a few weeks/months after she found out her bf had been cheating on her

when marcus moved in with tatum he only had one stool and one couch that he would sprawl all over and tate told him to buy his own furniture. so he did, he bought an old love seat from the thrift store and would not let tatum get close to it. a couple days into ana crashing there, marcus told her that tatum will make her do that. the guys helped her get some of her old furniture from her exes and now all of their stuff is mix matched

latula (presley) + roxy (macy) live together and they have a chalkboard wall in their apartment

john (ivan), dave (dominic), + karkat (donnie) also live together

dominic had always been halfway interested in photography but never had the means to fully pursue it. so when ivan starts studying film and bringing home cameras, dominic started talking to him about it and looking over his notes and getting really into the science behind photography yk

this is like. a halfway college au. marcus studies law, tatum studies computer programming, porrim (elle) studies fashion marketing, meulin (laurie) studies art, macy studies bioengineering, and ivan studies film

marcus and donnie are half brothers, their dad married laurie’s mom when she + marcus were in highschool

pretty much everyone is 20-23ish, the oldest being kurloz (jesse) at 25 and the youngest is donnie at 20

jesse and laurie are dating + have been for 3~ years, which would’ve been right after laurie graduated (jesse is a bit of a creep in this but tbh in canon he ain’t much better)

marcus, tatum, and elle grew up together. marcus and tatum were really good friends (bcus of their dads) throughout elementary/early middle school, but then tatum started hanging out with the people that marcus had told him to stay away from. they drifted apart quickly and by high school tatum had become one of those. popular asshole stoner funny guys. and although he had tried to stop his new friends from making comments and jokes towards marcus, he ultimately realized he didn’t care too much. marcus and elle had stayed friends, but she too had made better friends that she had more in common with. honestly not quite sure what id do with ana in this idea, i bounced either having her move to town when she was like in 4/5th grade her and marcus become friends then, or having her be like elle or macy’s frjend first, or have everyone meet her later. idrk. basically this is just the “tatum/marcus friends to enemies to roommates tension” au (it is heavily inspired by this fic). as far as the other characters, i think tate would’ve met jesse in highschool and gone crazy w him, also met presley in highschool? maybe that whole situation could happen then? idrk. don’t love this idea there’s too much lore id have to detail

ana and marcus were friends all throughout middle school, but grew apart when she moved in highschool. at her new school she met tatum, presley, + macy and became quick friends. after graduation, tatum had moved in with jesse for a bit but got kicked out, and crashed at ana’s very tiny very shitty apartment for a couple days. by the end of day 2, they were already drunkenly formulating a plan of moving in together which became a real plan + they ended up renting a three bed one bath apartment ! they live together for like 2/3 years until ana moved out to live with her boyfriend at his very nice house (yes this is rufioh, his name is richie). tatum posts an ad for a new roommate, and eventually marcus responds. he moves in, and a few days later ana comes to visit and the two reconnect. anyway, after a bit of ‘tate/marcus roommate tension’, ana finds out abt her bf cheating, and crashes at their apartment. she relaxes the atmosphere greatly. i like this one in theory but i feel like it needs more marcus/tatum tension other than just. oh he’s messy and he’s bossy and they don’t like living together yada yada yk

okay so this one i haven’t really. written down the plots? of the backstory i just started writing a story and wanted to change the relationships so it’s kinda random. actually it’s just kind of a mix of the other ones. anyway, the whole marcus + tatum friends to enemies to roommates thing is still happening, but ana went to a different school. there she became besties with macy, and later presley when she moved there in 8/9th grade. macy + presley live together across town, and ana used to live near them w her boyfriend until they broke up and she wanted a change of scenery. not quite sure of how or when ana + presley met tatum and the rest but yea they all became good friends and ana started crashing there + ofc presley + tatum got together.

idk i have a lot more but also like not really .. i just need to get an actual story down

anyway. as far as romantic relationship goes the only ones i am for sure doing are presley + tatum, laurie + jesse, and eventually ana + marcus . also jumping between dominic + donnie or dominic + ivan but also like they’re more of background characters

tatum, presley, jesse, and laurie 100% go to raves together

elle is intersex and does drag

presley and macy are roommates + coworkers + besties (it sounds like it would be hell after a while but they make it work)

tatum, marcus, + anas apartment does allow animals, tate has two cats named j.peg + kitkat

presley + macy’s apartment only allows two pets but they secretly have four cats, vodka mewtini, geegee, citrine, + tulip (all of them besides tulip are macy’s, tatum gave presley tulip as a gift)

lauren + jesse aren’t supposed to have pets but jesse does keep a snake

ivan, dominic, + donnie’s aren’t allowed to have animals but dominic has been trying to test that theory with some of the crows that come to his window

elle can have pets, she has a big german shepard type guard dog named fangs and a soft calico named felicity

one of ana’s top teeth is chipped from a soccer accident

presley is from new jersey

tbh this has been the only thing i’ve been thinking about for like. months so i also have a bit of art of what i hc that they look like, so i might post some of that. it’s not very good but i also made them all in the sims like multiple times LMAO . i also have some stories that are mainly about ana + marcus but according to chatgpt they are not good so. maybe eventually … idk i just hope all of this makes sense to anyone else but me

some thoughts about stranger things before vol2 comes out: i knew will was gay from s1, but i didnt know i was gay until summer of 2018 (a year before s3 came out). its weird to think that i was so early in my journey towards understanding my sexuality when the show started. its probably why i didnt see mike’s internalized homophobia until s4 vol1 — i was still dealing with my own before then. i love how your interpretation of media can change over time as you gain new life experience, and i think stranger things will always be a special show to me (unless i get queerbaited tomorrow LOL) because its the show that i grew up with. i went from being younger than the party’s canonical ages to being around robin & steve’s age, which has been a very weird shift to notice. like i remember when nancy seemed old because she was a sophomore, how did i end up graduating high school before her?!

also, if byler becomes cannon, i will be SO happy for all the queer kids who are still working through their internalized homophobia bc they’ll have a mainstream story that they can connect with :’) its definitely not something i had in middle school when i needed it (and tbh i didnt have much of it in high school either), so im glad times are changing. fingers crossed!!! <3

the conversation surrounding heartstopper going on in this blog is so interesting. for full disclosure, ive been keeping up with heartstopper for over two years now, i think, and was super excited for the adaptation. i haven't finished it yet, but im fully aware that i look absolutely insane while im watching it. i physically cannot sit still. there's something about it that just brings me joy.

also for full disclosure, im not usually one for overly sanitized ships and i do often prefer mlm ships. i ship batman and the joker in all their fucked up and complicated glory; i was reading harry/voldemort fanfiction on ffnet as early on as 14 years old, and it was smutty fic too. so i can definitely say that the main couple in heartstopper is not my usual jam and that it does not evoke in me the same type of fixation the aforementioned ships do.

BUT that doesn't remove any of the enjoyment for me. as much as I see my queerness in the Other and the Weird and the Freakish, there's also a part of me that sort of aches for the soft, young, queer experience I didn't get to have when I was in middle school or high school. And Heartstopper soothes that ache really well. Maybe it just speaks to my inner child that desperately wishes they could have had THAT image of queerness in their life, rather than it being something hidden, something bad, something that had to be confined to my computer screen and websites I was too scared to tell my parents about.

There's a conversation to be had, of course, about purity culture, overly sanitized media, the voluntary blind eye turned to the sexual aspect of teenagehood. And I agree that Heartstopper is guilty of all those things. But, I suppose that what I want to say is that there's more to it than that handful of problems, and different reasons as to why it seems to appeal to so many people

It looks well lit and shot with some cute actors. It's live action m/m that many people can get access to. I don't think it's mysterious why it's popular even aside from the exact merits or weaknesses of its writing.

I'm not interested in it because I didn't like or relate to this kind of thing when I was a teen either and nothing about that has changed.

need to vent for a quick minute lol:

i’ve been having sleeping problems this whole year so far. the first two weeks especially were terrible. i had one night where i didn’t sleep at all and then the day after i did not sleep at all either like i was literally up for A WHOLE DAY AND DIDNT FALL ASLEEP AGAIN UNTIL 11:30 THE NEXT NIGHT. most nights this year i’ve woken up in the middle of the night at least once, with always a few sleepless nights during the month (the first two weeks were where i had the most sleepless nights which was literally almost every night) and there’s been a few days where i have woken up at 4:30-5 AM and could not get back to sleep so i was up the whole day after.

the night before last night i didn’t fall asleep until 2 AM and last night i went to bed at 9:30 PM and then woke up at either 12 or 12:30 AM and couldn’t get back to sleep until like 4 AM, and then i woke up at 5 and went back to sleep at 5:30 and woke up at 7.

and i’ve been having problems with sleeping because of my sleep anxiety, and i have that BECAUSE i’ve been having trouble sleeping. and it’s impossible to stop it. even though i have days where i worry less than others, i haven’t been able to go a day without any sort of sleep anxiety even though i try hard to not worry about it. and i’ve also been taking melatonin and magnesium since January and vitamin B8 alongside that since February. and i go to bed early every night like literally i go to bed at 9:30. i guess 9:30 might be too early for me like maybe i should try 9:45 or 10. also my wake up times are inconsistent and idk how im gonna fix that too.

and this is mostly why i’ve been feeling so miserable this year (there’s other reasons too but that’s the main one) like literally i’ve been having problems with this since midnight of January 1st. and this isn’t the first time i’ve had problems with sleeping for a period of time i had it when i was a sophomore in high school too, but that year i had trouble going back to sleep at all after waking up in the middle of the night for a good amount of nights in the first month i was having problems and also nights where i didn’t fall asleep until like 3 AM. the first was December of that year where i had 2 nights i couldn’t go back to sleep after waking up in the middle of the night and then for most of that month i just woke up in the middle of the night and went back to sleep until the last week where i either couldn’t get back to sleep after waking up at like 2 AM or couldn’t fall asleep until like 3 AM. and then when i started taking melatonin in the beginning of January i just had nights where i woke up in the middle of the night and went back to sleep every night or had some days where i would wake up from 3 AM-5 AM and not be able to go back to sleep for months after. and that’s where my sleep anxiety originally came from. like it took me until my Junior year of high school when i stopped taking melatonin for that to officially stop happening.

but even then after that i would wake up in the middle of the night or had sleepless nights more often than i used to before Sophomore year and tbh i still had sleep anxiety some nights before i would fall asleep. and i was kinda thinking about sophomore year back in December 2023 quite often so i guess that has something to do with what’s happening now.

and my sleeping problems are a big part of why i haven’t been in the correct state of mind to write fics or make videos this year so far and that’s why i’m on break from all that right now.

and i’ve really been trying to fix this. i get exercise daily and i try eating healthy and i try staying off my phone before bed and reading books instead and staying out of bed the whole day and writing down my thoughts in a notebook at night. idk what else to do. i’ve been to the doctor twice this year and he just said the cause of my sleeping problems is cause of my sleep anxiety both times. i just want to sleep a full night consistently again.

this year sucks so much for me like this is worse than sophomore year was. i think this year is the worst year of my life this is making my mental health bad. i miss 2023 so much. i want to be okay and happy again and to stop worrying about this forever but i don’t think i’m moving past this anytime soon :(

oh boy im about to get absolutely destroyed but tododeku. i dont read established relationships much and i prefer lots of drama but the vibe i get from tododeku is theyd get together without much hassle so i just have no interest

13: unpopular opinion about bakugou?

ohhhh boy. i dont think theres anything i can say about him that hasnt been said before. the fandom has analyzed him to hell and back and honestly i think theyve got a pretty good grasp on his character at this point so i dont think any of my headcanons would really qualify here....

i think the biggest thing would be that i think he gets too much focus in the fandom. yeah hes the foil for the mc and hes had probably the most character growth out of everyone but there are other characters yall can obsess over smh.

also i think hes much more up front about how he feels than hes portrayed as a lot of the time. the shit he keeps to himself is either stuff hes still figuring out or stuff he feels guilty about but even in the case of the latter it comes up sooner rather than later (deku vs kacchan 2 for example). once he knows how he thinks/feels he doesnt really hide it. i think a lot of the time in fics he tends to keep things pent up or is sometimes a bit tsundere but honestly i think hes much more straightforward than that. hes not afraid of consequences because he very much believes he can overcome anything with enough effort so hes going to say what he thinks and deal with the results as they come up.

ngl though most of the fic i read is shippy stuff so this may not apply in non-romantic scenarios

10: most disliked arc? why?

the pre-ua arc. mostly because the only characters we see are all might deku and bakugou and im more invested in the dynamics of the class as a whole.

early bakugou is The Worst and while i think showing that is important in order to establish how he grows as the series goes on, its not something that i especially care to rewatch. i think looking back on cringey middle school times is always difficult for me irl or otherwise so its not really a complaint about bakugou specifically but yeah.

as for all might i frankly disagree with a lot of his views on being a hero and this is when most of them are established. every time i watch this i just want to argue with him lol

and with deku tbh im just not super a fan of him??? i think part of it is because a lot of his behavior thats emphasized in canon is stuff that i personally struggle with (his tendency to worry about others to the point that he completely neglects himself for one) and while overall i think this is something the series discourages i also want to shake him and scream at him every time he does this stuff. please value yourself small green child. (also all might encourages the self sacrificing stuff and sees it as a sign of being a True Hero and this is an excellent example of what i was talking about in the previous paragraph.)

also its always kinda bothered me that the initial couple episodes are all deku trying to become a hero without a quirk but a) hes not actually doing anything to get closer to his goal (unless you count the analysis of other heroes) like he knows he wouldnt be able to rely on a quirk but hes not even trying to figure out any more obtainable alternatives hes just saying "i want to do this thing" and then not putting any effort in until all might offers to train him. meanwhile characters who are equally committed to the same goal (bakugou and todoroki for example, although todorokis situation is complicated what with endeavor being The Worst and all) are training themselves physically in addition to strengthening their quirks. i would consider deku to be more on par with characters like kirishima who didnt commit to the hero thing until their last year of junior high but that just doesnt match up with the emphasis by both deku himself and the narrative that he has always really wanted to become a hero.

also the whole "i want to become a hero even though i dont have a quirk" thing gets resolved by him just. getting a quirk?? idk i feel like bnha toys with the idea of addressing quirkless discrimination but always just handwaves it away. like oh this character wants to do something that historically has never been achieved by someone with his disability. the resolution is that he no longer has the disability.

also in the case of touya it talks about his experience having a quirk thats incompatible with his body and how that affects him and shapes him but then it just gets kinda pushed aside by endeavors influence on the situation and instead of talking about how touya was affected by a bad home life and struggling with disability and being unable to accept his limits, it just becomes "endeavor was bad at dealing with the situation and then touya became a villain" idk it just keeps skirting around this stuff that i think is important from both a world building perspective and also applicable to actual things that irl people deal with but ultimately it just dismisses it as unimportant. like objectively saying "hey the mc is considered disabled and then in chapter three is magically no longer disabled" is a dick move. yes he struggles with adjusting but like?? the emphasis was on the disability and then it immediately just removed that factor and moved on to a New Problem (oh no the quirk is Too Awesome) (because he didnt bother to do any sort of training or anything to reach his goal until all might was in the picture)

i went on a big tangent but tldr a lot of the problems i have with bnha are especially emphasized in the first five episodes or so and because of that and my lack of interest in the characters with the most screen time (sorry deku stans) i just cant stand the "training to get into ua" arc
