Since the wider internet is talking about plagiarism I think it's a good time to start talking about art theft/uncredited reposting/etc. as well and I'm particularly going to talk about my experience with it.

Before I say anything else I want to say please don't harass people who may not have a good grasp on internet etiquette! (and please assume that is the case unless someone has intentionally plagiarized/stolen people's work and credited it as their own) That is not what I'm asking you to do and for future reference if someone was excessively rude to you in calling out that you reposted my things I did not endorse that behavior. I do encourage calling out when you see people reposting art and linking back to the original work but I do not encourage harassment. On a similar note, this isn't meant to make anyone feel bad or guilty for not having a good grasp on this particular thing. This is just me explaining how it makes me feel and hopefully get people to understand why it's so hurtful so they don't do it in the future, and maybe they get to me explaining it nicely before other people explain it not-so-nicely LOL.

Some reasons why I personally don't like it when people repost my art even if this particular post is a shitpost and not something I put a whole lot of effort into:

(This list is definitely independent/fanartist-centric, I'm not really claiming this to be anything but that.)

Images get edited and distorted as the meme chain goes on, I have seen this end up with artists feeling like their art that they put a lot of effort into like all that work was a joke. Which, evidently is pretty disrespectful

In a personal anecdote, I have seen people say really rude things about me and the Blazblue community on Tumblr while reposting my things (art and otherwise) on twitter and other social media sites. It's really hurtful that people will disrespect me and my friends while using the bits and pieces they like.

Additionally, not everyone on the internet is familiar with common English-speaking internet terminology and etiquette. What may seem like a compliment or neutral statement for you may be rude to them. Generally speaking, a lot of Japanese artists take great offense to their work being reposted in any way whatsoever. ESPECIALLY if you didn't ask beforehand. People have privated or deleted works or entire accounts over this.

It takes away attention from the artist, and this isn't just people complaining about their art not getting enough likes/reblogs online. I have had my commissions open for months with next to no attention toward it and have periodically given up on promoting, with that in mind I grow more bitter about the fact that my only work that regularly gets attention isn't even representative of my current work but also isn't even attached to my name.

There are a lot more reasons, but it really is just a matter of respecting people who make the content you like and crediting people who make things you like.

If you see art that might be fanart and want to find the original source so you can either share it in a server, ask the artist permission to use it somewhere else, or sort of vigilante credit it for somewhere else, here's some places you can easily reverse search for images or find the artist who drew them (hint: if a work has been deleted it's good practice to still credit the artist)

SauceNAO - especially good for fanart since it's a curation of popular Japanese and western image sharing sites. Works best with full images. Found my art on pixiv and deviantART.

Google Image Search - Unreliable, may work with popular artwork but will probably struggle to find it otherwise, very rarely found my artwork. But probably your better bet for heavily cropped images at least to find the full image and then plug it in sauceNAO

But even then the best practice is if you don't know the source don't repost it until you've found it, and always reblog/retweet/what have you from the original artist before considering reposting it on your own account. Be strict and insistent on asking if people know the source of art they are reposting especially in discord servers and online spaces where it's commonly done.

You know what, I wasn't going to address this because it's so stupid, but I figure I have nothing to hide.

What happened was I made a joke that was like "if you voted for thomastair (in the least popular ship poll), you're a monster block me." It was intended in the same tone as Will telling Tessa she's a monster for hating chocolate, or me telling one of my best friends she's a monster for not liking ice cream. This did not go over well online since it's hard to indicate tone, and I am an awkward person. I got this anon. You can read my response beside it.

I am sincerely sorry to those who were hurt by my initial comment.

However, this still sits poorly with me because Thomas and Alastair literally have sex on page and are all over each other throughout the book. My intention wasn't to accuse anyone of homophobia, it was to shed light on the way that this was perceived because I quite frankly see no way to perceive Thomastair as platonic.

Even if you don't like them. They're all over each other.

Anyway, I then got this anon:

I didn't reply to it because I was sincerely sorry for hurting their feelings and I didn't want any drama. So I deleted the offending posts, having apologized.

Also, this response has a lot of really obvious flaws, and I originally didn't feel like picking apart the anon in ways that I think are just common sense.

But if I have to reply to this ask, fine.

I don't think Kit is aroace because he's neurodivergent, I think he's aroace because he consistently shows a lack of interest in relationships. Other neurodivergent characters like Henry and Ty are obviously not aroace.

I don't think Grace is aroace because she was abused. Abuse doesn't always make you aroace. I just like her in a qpp with Kit. As for Alastair, he's canonically gay. Attracted to men. They're incomparable in the text.

I do not think Charles is violent. I have specifically said "STATUTORY rape." Alastair was a kid he groomed when he was 14-16. I don't think it was violent, but it's statutory rape.

I fail to see how my thinking that a woman of color (Cordelia) who I adore could do better than a specific white man is racist. I also am not denying that they're in a relationship as anon is doing with Thomastair. Also I'm not a Jordelia anti, I like them fine since Cordelia is happy. I just don't find their dynamic interesting.

As for Jem, don't care. I just don't care about this character. And I never said I wanted to erase him from existence, I just said he's overused in current content and I wish he'd be utilized less frequently.

I don't think this post is controversial, and it also wasn't directed at any one person. In fact, the individual who took offense to it was totally off my radar until like 2 days ago when I was sent the post. They could not be less relevant to me and I definitely have never thought of them when making a post.

Thomastair is just a ship that is to me- and apparently many other people, considering my engagement- synonymous with hope and happiness. Because that's what they represent, hope and second chances and healing. Generic posts like this are just... generic. If someone I haven't thought about in months feels personally attacked, that's not my problem.

This is all I'm going to say about this. I will not be answering more anons about it or addressing any juvenile callout posts that anyone chooses to make. Honestly this experience is mostly funny to me because, like, I am just some random blogger on the internet at the end of the day. The block button is great. Use it.

Thank you, thank you for the tag @fanarain. I took my time with this. I swear, I got to find a tag game to share with my followers and those I follow. @dreamautonomy needs more love and activity. 😭

I will answer questions about @dreamautonomy (my main that’s not officially a main) and @defectiveconantoy (my more popular Tumblr).

1. Why did you choose your url? I came up with the name Dream Autonomy waaaaay back in 2008. At the time, I was inspired by Kazimierz Dąbrowski's theory of positive disintegration (TPD), where he explained that one must go through anxiety and psychological tension to achieve autonomy and true individuality. In my teens, I dreamt of independence and autonomy, to live on my own terms and break away from society’s rat race. I still do to this day.

For my DCMK stuff, I’ve considered the name Conanology, but someone on Twitter took it. I wanted something witty. Then, I stumbled upon that Reddit post with the counterfeit Conan and Ayumi action figures. They looked so ridiculous and badly made it’s almost a joke. The thread’s first comment: perfect as a funny username. Unfortunately, defectiveconan was already taken here, so I settled with defectiveconantoy (also nicknamed by me as DFCT - DeFective Conan Toy) instead.

2. Any side blogs? @relaxwithanime because there’s a lot of relaxing anime, and I want to showcase relaxing anime scenes. @sillydogpictures, which has no posts. I wanted to show pictures of dogs with intentionally or unintentionally silly faces. 🐶

3. How long have you been on tumblr? It’s complicated! I began lurking back in 2010 or 2011 but didn’t create an account until 2014 with the original dreamautonomy, now the defunct @olddreamautonomy. I never used it until mid or late 2020.

I made @defectiveconantoy back in October 2020 because I considered participating in the DCMK Secret Santa event. I eventually decided not to, as I was busy with school and coping with the pandemic. I didn’t need more deadlines then.

4. Do you have a queue tag? Nope! I should make one once I learn how.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? I planned to use @dreamautonomy as a creative blog for posting photography, graphic design, food and travel stuff, motivational stuff, and more. Never happened!

DFCT was made for Detective Conan and Magic Kaito fandom stuff, nothing else.

Stupid me made @defectiveconantoy a completely separate account, even after realizing minutes later that I could have made it a side blog. Oh well! I mostly use Tumblr for fandom stuff nowadays, so I deleted my old Dream account and made a new account as a side blog under @defectiveconantoy. Now, I no longer have to use different apps and browsers for both blogs. Life is good!

6 . Why did you choose your icon/pfp? For Dream, I chose Retsuko from Aggretsuko. That scene wonderfully represents the agony of one’s twenties: working miserable jobs, not being taken seriously, and wishing life was more fulfilling than the average adult life. There she is being “one of us” on a Sunday by lying in bed and scratching her butt. 😂

And for DFCT, how could I not post action Conan from The Fist of Blue Sapphire with the counterfeit action figure’s head replacing the original Conan’s head? 🤣

7. Why did you choose your header? For Dream, because Retsuko’s bouncing her little tail off. For DFCT, because Ran is precious in that scene, all soft and shy.

8. What's your post with the most notes? @defectiveconantoy’s set of GIFs from the Ferris Wheel scene in the Episode ONE special. And that’s my original post. I’ve reblogged even more popular stuff by others.

9. How many mutuals do you have? About a dozen.

10. How many followers do you have? @dreamautonomy: 9 (Most are p*rn bots I’ve reported for spam and blocked. Have no idea WTF I did to attract them.). @defectiveconantoy: 175!! 😁

12. Have you ever made a shitpost? I don’t know. I think I only post relevant memes.

Here am I typing this after spending years confusing shitposts with really funny, sometimes offensive memes. I’m still confused about the meaning of a shitpost. I’m not very trend or meme savvy.

13. How often do you use tumblr each day? About 10-20 times a day, usually through my phone app.

14. Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog once? Over ten years ago on websites that Tumblr, Twitter, etc. long replaced in popularity. Even then, I’ve usually been a lurker for most of my life and rarely engaged in arguments or debates. Whenever I did, I regret it to this day. I looked stupid (everyone did, actually). What a waste of time!

I wish I hadn’t forgotten about Detective Conan back in 2004. The DCMK Tumblr fandom is chill and AWESOME! I wonder what the fandom was like back in the 2000s.

15. How do you feel about "you need to reblog this" posts? Ehh…it depends. If it’s something most or everyone agrees with, I might reblog it. I don’t know about you, but such posts often bring the rebel in me. If you say, “REBLOG IT,” I say, “Ehh! Nope.” 😋 Anyway, life is short. I’d rather stick to fandom and humor, things that unite people and make them smile.

16. Do you like tag games? Of course! That’s how I get to know everyone. I should initiate tag games and tag all of you.

17. Do you like ask games? YES! I should start ask games as well.

Aaaanyway, I won’t name names. Some are Tumblr famous for different reasons, and that’s what matters. We all contribute different things while being under the same main fandom, ships, arcs, and adaptations aside.

19. Do you have a crush on a mutual? No! Why ruin this nice little Tumblr space for drama? It’s not worth having a crush on people you’ve never met face-to-face imo. I’m not repeating my teenage mistakes.

Do you get on Facebook every day? Yeah pretty much all throughout the day. I used to never use it, like never ever; but back in college all announcements were coursed through Facebook so I was technically required to be on it regularly, and it was from there that I began to see memes and start to be more active. I’m a shitposter more than anything though and I rarely ever post stuff of my own. How many FB friends do you have? I have 679 at the moment but I want to get rid of like 500 of them; it’s just such a long list to go through so I never get to proceed with my unfriending spree lol.

Have you ever been on a deleting spree? HAHA I just mentioned that. I’ve always wanted to, but like I said 679 is already such an exhaustive list for me, and that’s considering I only started touching my Facebook in like 2019. I can’t imagine people who started Facebook in like 2009 and have 4000 friends aka most people I know.

Have you blocked a lot of haters? I don’t have haters; at least I’m not aware of any that I have. Not that it’s something I care about at this point.

Do you get bullied online a lot? No, but that’s also because I don’t really open the channels for people to send in hate. I don’t have Q&A handles like Curious Cat and I never pick out that option in Instagram where people can send in questions.

What's your favorite Facebook app? Oh I never use Facebook for their apps. Are those still even a thing...? Anyway, I mainly go there to be on the hunt for stupid memes I can reshare or to watch videos that are either funny or informative.

Are you a fan of selfies? I don’t mind if other people do it, but I think I’m honestly bad at selfies so I almost never take them. I’ve never figured out my angles or what filters look ok on me.

Has anyone ever called the police on you because they didn't like your status? No but I have had my posts reported because they were deemed ‘offensive.’ Which is weird because my posts that have been taken down are those that speak out against disgusting men, which says a lot about Facebook runs their shit more than anything else.

Are you in any facebook groups? I’m in nearly a hundred groups, both private i.e. for school purposes, and public.

Are you the admin of any groups? Nah. Too much time and effort needed out of me.

Do you report abuse to group admins whenever you see it? Yes. I report the post then leave the group.

What could make Facebook better? They could put more effort into detecting and banning troll farms.

What year did you start using Facebook? I made an account in 2012 because of a high school class that required us to upload this specific video-format homework onto Facebook (which in hindsight is such an insensitive homework considering that was nearly a decade ago when the Philippines was still severely behind in internet connection speeds?? Ugh). But I didn’t start actively using my account until around two years ago.

What is your current profile picture of? Myself, posing in front of the sunflowers in school during the recent graduation season.

Did you like the old Myspace better than Facebook? I was never a regular user of Myspace, so...

What kind of things do you post on YouTube? I’ve never posted any video on there, not even private ones. I’m also not the type to comment.

What do you like to watch on YouTube? These days YouTube serves as a stress reliever for me, which is to say I would typically go for humorous BTS-related compilations because there are sooooo many hilarious channels that make these great videos haha. Occasionally I’d go back to channels or series that I used to frequent, like Good Mythical Morning, Buzzfeed’s Worth It and Unsolved, Try Guys, Watcher, etc.

Are you subscribed to any channels? To so many.

Do you think twitter is stupid? Hehe show me at least one person who doesn’t think so. < Coming from someone who regularly uses Twitter, agree. It is crazy stupid but stupid is what I’m there for. Which is honestly not always such a bad thing to me - I like that people are more themselves, more stripped-down, vulnerable on Twitter. People always seem to want to show off their best selves on Facebook and Instagram, so I’m actually kind of grateful that there is at least one social media out there where people can just be their clumsy, goofy selves.

How often do you tweet? Probably a maximum of five a day. Nowadays I’m on there mostly to just scroll through my timelines.

Oh my god I love this.

Blast: Has a verified instagram. Has never posted. Does not follow anyone. Still has like. 3.2M followers.

Tatsumaki: Has a public twitter and a secret pinterest. Her twitter is mostly the occasional selfie or update on monsters she’s fighting. She will occasionally talk shit about the Hero Association on her public twitter. She has 14.7M followers. They love the drama. Her pinterest is a lot of aesthetic pictures, quotes and romantic movie scenes.

Fubuki: Has an instagram that is immaculately curated. It’s very clean looking. She posts thirst traps to her stories, and people lose their minds. She just cracked 1M followers.

Bang: Surprisingly adept at Youtube. Uploads weekly guided meditation videos, and has a few basic self-defense videos. He’s got 800k subscribers, and a pretty active online fanbase. The go grandpa jokes are rampant.

Okamaitachi: An INFLUENCER. Has an Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter and a Youtube, and knows how to use them all. Super curated (main) instagram feed. Posts regularly to her story. Probably has like. 1.8M followers. Her tumblr is pretty standard. She’s anonymous on there, and her account is pretty small. Child Emperor: Has a science youtube channel where he explains different scientific phenomenons, and shows DIY experiments. He’s got 8M followers. Metal Knight: Spends all his time on Reddit. This one is self explanatory.

His twitter is a combo of him publicly beefing with the Hero Association and celebrities, and him just. No one knows if he’s serious or not.

Tank Top Master: Has a joint account on twitter with all his bros. The TankTopArmy twitter has 2.1M followers. He also has a youtube that’s pretty similar to Superalloy, and they often collab. He’s at 1.1M subscribers on there.

Puri Puri Prisoner: Has a tumblr. He got really popular on tumblr, but then someone made a calloutpost about him and exposed him as PPP, and he lost a ton of followers. He’s still got 21k followers though.

Garou: Is on his 7th twitter account bc he keeps getting suspended. Uses his twitter to harass the heroes. Also tweets out his hot take on things like controversial food combinations to stir the pot. He’s managed to regain 700k of his original 2.2M followers on this 7th account, but he’ll probably get suspended again before he makes it all the way back.

Amai Mask: Has a twitter and instagram because it is part of his contract. His manager has access to both and manages his ig, which has 47.2M followers. He manages his twitter and occasionally vagues the S Class heroes, but his manager deletes the tweets. But screenshots are forever, and Amai’s got 38M followers on twitter to see his tweets.

Mumen Rider: Has a tumblr and twitter. His tumblr is super popular. It’s like the suggestion/nice message tumblrs. It’s all positivity and kind words, and focuses a lot on self care. He’s got 16k followers on tumblr. His twitter is very similar. There is #MumenNation on twitter. He’s got 4.6M followers, including the majority of the S Class. Even Amai Mask follows him. He’s just a nice guy.

@saltyaboutfictionalcharacters Your friend wanted me to stop talking on their posts and in an effort to respect that request (even though this “controversial” stuff happens when you post something like this to an interactive site so they should have expected it) I think you and I can continue our conversation here.

1a. The whole point of this hellsite’s format is to interact with content and form conversations. By posting something you’re opening a conversation whether you intended to or not. People are allowed to talk back to you even if you don’t like what they have to say. Saying I’m “harassing” your friend for contributing to a conversation they started is like going to the doctor for an aching stomach and getting offended when they ask you where the pain is coming from. If you weren’t open to actually talking about it, then don’t fucking put it out there for everyone to see? Because you’re going to get responses you don’t like. And your options are to A) let it happen and ignore it like most people do B) talk back or C) remove yourself from the discussion by deleting the original post so you don’t receive any more notifications about it.

1b. It’s not a harmless post. It’s someone shaming others for liking something fictional. It’s rude and people like you and your friend’s negativity make it difficult to enjoy fandom when it’s splashed across the results for the tag “bnha” or “bakugou”.

2. If fiction effects your reality to that extent then that’s your problem. It’s like saying reading harry potter is dangerous for the fact that someone might think it’s a good idea to jump off their roof straddling a broom. You clearly have no faith in people’s ability to distinguish between fiction and reality and that’s a personal problem that doesn’t apply to anyone but you and your world view.

3a. If you’re waiting for him to apologize then that’s precisely why you should pay attention to his character arc. Like I’ve already stated, progress like what people expect of katsuki to make him “valid” doesn’t happen in the blink of an eye. It’s a process. It takes a real person anywhere from months to years of therapy to work through their issues and change themselves to the point you’re all expecting to consider him valid. Some people don’t need it to that extent because we can see him as he is changing and see the path he’s started on and already consider that valid.

3b. Let’s pull from other media that I personally have watched of a bully/victim scenario. You ever seen Zootopia? Well remember that fox in the begin who bullied Judy? He was an ADULT when he finally apologized to her for bullying her as a child and explained that he had a lot of internal issues with himself that formed as unchecked aggression and misplaced rage. So the journey isn’t going to be easy for Katsuki nor will it be quick, but that possibility is there. And I have faith that it’ll happen.

3c. My friend and I were fucking joking and literally “shitposting” and I’m sorry that you’re offended but you taking a fucking joke as a personal offense is not my problem, so you’re not the victim here either okay? Especially considering it was a generalized joke. We weren’t targeting your friend specifically, we just happened to do it on their post. We were joking. We know you can read (even though you seem to like to try and twist all of my words to suit your Righteous Rage™) and we know you interpreted the manga and anime differently than we did.

4. I already explained the fact that we were joking and you took it personally so. All i keep seeing here is “I’m allowed to be offended but you’re not because your opinion doesn’t match mine” and honestly? How is that a “grown up” approach.

5a. Posts making fun of fandom groups who are specifically targeting other groups to fight against them and the things they like are toxic no matter how you slice it. And you’re trying to tell me people who are dedicating posts to HATING a character and everyone who supports that character are “nice”?! Seriously what the hell are you smoking or huffing or taking because I could use some of it while I try to deal with the headache that that twisted logic caused.

5b. I’ve only just broke into this fandom so I can’t attest to receiving messages or asks about the things that you do, but I have no doubt in my mind that there are antis out there who do the same to stans. Like I’ve said before. There’s no moral high ground here. Both sides are guilty. No one is blameless.

6.You’re allowed to have your opinions. I’m allowed to want to try and change them. I’m also allowed to have my opinions. I’m also allowed to voice those opinions just like you are, and I’m allowed to defend them just like you are. I’ve said before and I’ll say again. I AM NOT THE ONE WHO SOUGHT OUT THIS POST. I DO NOT SEEK OUT ANTIS. BUT I DO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CONVERSATION WHEN THE POSTS COME ACROSS MY DASHBOARD/FEED. I blacklist anti tags but so many of the antis troll the base tags and base tag their anti posts so the conflicting algorithms try to override each other and I end up seeing anti posts anyway.

7. If you or your friend are so fucking harassed how have neither of you ever learned to use the block button? Someone is being problematic and “harassing you” fucking block them. But instead of taking those steps available to you you seek to argue and whine and complain and you continue to play the victim just like you’re trying to accuse me of doing. I never brought up victimization until you did. You started this victim/harasser accusation war so do not try to claim I am trying to play victim when you started this and brought it up. I’m not blameless. I made a comment and I take full responsibility for that comment and any other comment I make and I also take responsibility for the responses my comments cause “because I’m not 5 years old”. But if your friend feels so harassed by me and mine then they can block us or talk to us, like they did to me. And I will tell them again and again. Feel free to block me if you don’t want to talk. I will not stop expressing my opinion just like you’re defending your right to.

Yep. They did go and hide the ones where Connie eats a banana by deepthroating it. With no way of appealing their bullshit. Some of my major Connie gifsets are also gone, including the boob-fondling one and the harems one, I think. *sigh* I really cannot wait for Pillowfort to be out of beta, so everyone can join over there. Please don‘t even question as to why I am going to be slowly fading away from this site (I’ve already had some people doing that and frankly, can you not be selfish? Your desires don’t mean I, or anybody else, should just lie down and take this kind of offensive shit that stomps all over our self-expression and existence.) I know it’s going to take a while for PF to get going, and I won‘t be deleting this place so people can browse the existing shit (Connie fandom being so small that I know how hard it is to find any materials of him in the first place that aren’t the same old overexposed horror movies), but I will try and not post much new stuff because fuck Tumblr.

But those of you who already are on PF: you have a part to play in it becoming active, too. We all have to create content, quality content, reblog and discuss the stuff. Only after there’s enough momentum (read: content and reblogging of said content) on there, then can we relax and move on to the more low-level engagement stuff we used to do here on Tumblr (reblogging other people’s stuff, which was the bulk of the activity even for us content creators). I’d hate it for people to just get accounts and then lurk (and female socialisation makes this worse--everybody having shitty self-esteem and a low view of the worth of their contributions, which is BULLSHIT; you MATTER) because that’s what happened with Dreamwidth--it’s a ghost town because it never really got off except for small pockets of comm activity and a certain type of old fan crowd who posted a lot. It never gained the momentum LJ did, exactly because people were *all* sitting around and twiddling their toes, waiting for *someone* to start and... you can imagine. That kind of awkward silence is self-perpetuating.

And as someone who’s used to being a one-woman fandom, I know for a fact that other fans do *not* come until someone starts producing content. I’ve been fangirling in a vacuum or near-vacuum on here a lot of the time, but that doesn‘t daunt me because of my principles of just getting that shit out there, doing something because *someone* has got to. That’s how all kinds of fandoms started; with the isolated nutters who just kept on doing their thing and sometimes it’d take decades for them to find others. It’s of value and valid in and of itself, even if it’s merely for your own mental health--don’t ever be ashamed of your devotion and your creativity even if nobody seems to give a shit. Something is happening all the time behind the scenes (and inside of yourself), even if you’re not noticing it; you are affecting change in the world, making some magic. The butterfly effect is real! Everything in this universe is interconnected and you are contributing a few pings and plings to this huge web of life, even when you’re just shitposting. Isn’t that fucking amazing? Your reblog could change a life. That certainly happened to me with that one photo from The Student of Prague that I saw on Tumblr, and the rest was history. Just the one pic some goth decided to reblog onto her blog! Just one click from me! It’s full-on galaxybrain shit, you guys.

So don‘t ever, *ever* be afraid of being a fan and actively so. Your contribution fucking *matters.*

Holy shit, y’all. I’ve waited my entire life to post this. No one can see it but the cameras but I’m squealing and bubbling. It’s not the best orchestrashipping tribute, but at least I finally got to the fourth prompt and one of the first scenes I ever imagined for rare pair week?

*shrug* Onward!

Reiji sees this text the minute his quarterly profits meeting ends. The buzz has worried him for a good while, and now that he actually sees the text behind it he is... no less confused. Has something happened and Yuuya is in the middle of it? Or has he forgotten to do something important, meaning Yuuya actually is upset with him?

Just as he's typing out his response, another message buzzes in, this time from mellowdiva: Reiji, if you got any dumbass panicky-sounding messages from Yuuya, ignore them. Told him you were in a long meeting today but he heard none of it.

Relaxing some, he chuckles, leaving the office and lingering in the elevator without pressing anything. He mentally flips a coin, then texts his girlfriend back before their boyfriend. 'Thank you Yuzu, your text came just in time. Does Yuuya need anything?'

mellowdiva: Just you, like I do. Hurry home.

Reiji smirks, and hits "1F". As he descends, he shrugs off his suit coat, revealing the standard gray hoodie he still wears underneath, and folds the coat over the arm not holding his phone.

He texts Yuuya next: 'Heading home now. Don't worry.'

The Entertainment duelist doesn't respond until he's made it to his car and driver and settled in for the ride to his apartment. Since Reiji's officially off and away from work, Yuuya's bouncy message tone chirps from his pocket.

tomato_clown: sorry, just worried me when u were late. u work too hard.

Reiji knows he does. Consistent overtime, late night call-ins, weekend Skype meetings and reams on reams of paperwork... Akaba Leo's return was meant to alleviate his burdens, but so far it had done no such thing.

Still, he tries to be soothing in the way he's been trained to be by all his time dating a dork and a diva. That means sending memes that are gradually funnier the whole way across town.

Yuuya takes three showers, but he still feels like he's drenched with sweat instead of freshwater.

"Stop wasting our water," Yuzu scolds. "If you've had a bad day, stop anxious-texting your entire contacts list and talk about it."

"It's not that--" He flops down on the couch, talking to the ceiling instead of her. Today he won both challenge duels and preserved his place in the Pro League, bringing himself one step closer to eventually matching Reiji's record. It's not that he'd had a bad day today so much as he had one weeks ago that won't let him go.

Yuzu finishes drying the plates and puts popcorn in the microwave. Only then does she make it into the living room to join him on the sectional, sitting close enough to stroke his shoulder and change TV channels simultaneously. Her touch is one of two that helps him relax these days, and this time is no different.

"Dad and I... still haven't talked, since I moved in here. Since our fight."

Her pink eyebrows lift at the words, then beetle. "Uncle Yuushou's still upset with you for moving out?"

The fact that he'd been upset at all still grinds Yuuya's gears. His father left him and his mother for almost four years without any kind of warning beforehand, though he'd been given the chance to so warn. When he finally returned, smug as anyone who hadn't actually defeated his ideological enemy could be, he seemed to think that no apology was needed for upending the lives of his wife and son in the first place.

After all, Yuuya had learned to be courageous, right? And Yoko was always independent enough to manage, right?

It was the dumbest conclusion ever, because it all was so much more complicated than that. In those first few months of his father's return, Yuuya saw his mother jump at shadows, and keep her dissatisfaction with the lack of air-clearing to herself. But he couldn't so easily forget the years of being bullied and tormented, ridiculed by people of all ages.

Yuuya had started staying over at Yuzu's more, and then at Reiji's as the older boy opened up and welcomed him. Inevitably Yuzu started wondering where the hell he went and tailed him to LDS. By the time Yuushou and Shuzou thought to tail her, the three of them had grown very, very comfortable with one another.

This had sparked the real flame of Yuuya's rebellion. Living with his childhood friend and a rich billionaire was the perfect, if most bizarre, solution to the alienation he felt in his own home. Even Yoko's crying and Yuushou's piercing accusations hadn't stopped Yuuya from packing and fleeing.

Except now he can't stop thinking about how he'd heard nothing from either of his parents since.

Yuzu is quiet as he finishes updating her on all the nothing he's heard since he moved out. She's moved from playing with the remote to playing with his fingers.

"You know I'd try and help, Yuuya, but... well, since I left home too I don't know if Uncle Yuushou would listen to me."

"I just want him to understand," Yuuya says. "I can't stay there and pretend everything's like it was. I won't."

"I know."

"But mostly I want to stop thinking about it. Like, we're supposed to be spoiling Reiji today and all I can think about is fighting with my parents..."

He trails off, pensive. The popcorn starts popping urgently and Yuzu gets up to retrieve it.

Eventually she picks the conversation back up. "The day's not over yet. We still have time to have fun before the weekend. So relax, okay? Reiji and I are with you and we're not going anywhere."

Then she brings the popcorn over with herself, cuddling with him while still leaving room for one more. Yuuya basks in her close proximity and uses it to gradually adjust his mood, until he receives a new message from el_rei that makes him snort with laughter.

"What is it?"

"Our boyfriend is shitposting again."

"Ugh," Yuzu groans. "Yuuya, I've told you before to tell him to delete his account and stop texting us memes. Those things can't be called shitposts when they're actually shitty."

"Hey, I like his jokes!"

"You like everything he's ever done--"

"Nuh-uh, I didn't like him all that much when he was grumpy and wanted to fight and boss everyone around all the time."

"When he had the stick up his ass, you mean? You especially liked him then."

"No I--!"

Yuuya pauses. Actually thinks back. Blushes. "...okay, maybe I did..."

Yuzu always knows when Reiji has made it home, whether she's heard the purr of his driver's car or recognized his distinctive footsteps on the stairs to their landing. But she also knows that their CEO likes to feel in control of his own actions and how others perceive them, so she always allows him to 'surprise' them and knock.

She's still standing just inside when he knocks today, so she's fast enough to open the door and pull him in before he can even pull his knuckles back from the wood.

"Welcome to your night off."

Reiji smiles. His suit coat's already off, but he takes the time to hang it up by the door before taking one of her hands in his, holding it gently.

"How was your audition, Yuzu?"

Oh, that. She shrugs, having mostly put it out of her mind the minute she got here. "I did well, but Mikiyo was there auditioning as well, so..."

"So you'll get it," he replies encouragingly. Then he smirks. "I could call in a favor."

"You'll do no such thing."

Yuuya calls from the living room just then: "Yuzu! Did Reiji make it in?"

Reiji takes the liberty of responding himself, moving into the main part of their tiny space to greet their third. Yuzu, still holding his hand, feels a gentle tug and then follows him. Only when they arrive does she let go so they can wind around Yuuya, and so she can tease him.

"Yep. I was keeping him all to myself."

"You can't nap in the hallway, there's no room--"

Reiji kisses Yuuya, cutting his protests short. Yuzu nods approvingly, because yeah, I should've thought of that. Kissing is the best way to shut him up.

"You should sleep," their rich rent-payer says when he's done making Yuuya quit frowning and ruminating. "All your texts today made you sound drunk."

Yuzu snorts as Yuuya yelps indignantly and her two boys go for each other's throats harder than they have since last week's lie-in. It's playful though, so it's all good.

About a month ago she and Yuuya started dragging Reiji out of his leech-like CEO life and making him come home for naps and bad movies once a week, close to the weekend. Their most-stressed-by-far partner is still a bit stiff, but Yuzu thinks he's come a long way.

Like now--he's not afraid to touch them, kiss them or get close to them. As they turn on Jupiter Ascending, he even rests his head near their shoulders and then their laps, not bothering yet to bring the details of his long day into their space. There will be time enough for that later.

This life was not what Yuzu anticipated the day she watched Strong Ishijima try and bully her best friend to draw out his father, but she has learned to be grateful for the hand of fate. Though the war took a lot out of her (out of all of them), and she has to rest a lot more now, she enjoys taking life a day at a time with her bickering boys.

Plus, Yuzu's never slept so well in her whole life as she does with them now.

I was tagged by @spreadthecurse - thank you so much, Mini! I don’t think I’ve ever participated in a tag game exactly like this, so cool for a new thing. :)

1. Why did you choose your url? The URL I actually wanted was taken (the only two hints I’ll mention about it: it’s a song lyric, and it ALSO has the word “soul” in it), so I thought about how I really wanted to convey the theme of my blog...and in that sense, I hope it comes across just how much I truly love music. :’)

2. Any side blogs? On Tumblr, just @takealittlepieceoftheirhearts. I used to have a Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks-dedicated blog, but I deleted it because I’m just...way too salty about them both to dedicate a whole entire blog to them now. I’ve been thinking for the past couple weeks about making a whole separate fandom blog that’s TOTALLY unrelated to music though but ahhhhh I AM AFRAID TO TBH. And like what if I get bored of it. I never get bored of music which is why both of my blogs are still so relevant to me. So I dunno.

3. How long have you been on tumblr? Shall be seven years in September, oof.

4. Do you have a queue tag? I used to - it was “I wanna queue her name in the sky,” my favorite line from my favorite song (”Free Fallin’“ by Tom Petty), but post-hiatus from Tumblr due to their censorship bullshit I still wanted to rebel so I don’t use a queue tag anymore. Sorry if it’s inconvenient for my followers, but look: Tumblr’s censorship is fucking inconvenient!!!! I JUST WANT TO POST ABOUT AND PROPERLY TAG A CLASSIC ROCK BAND CALLED FANNY CAN YOU FUCKS LIFT THE BAN ALREADY? FFS!

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? Ahehehe...I originally made my blog to join the Beatles/classic rock fandom on here, and arguably I’m still here to represent the classic rock fandom (especially to represent the women of classic rock - YEP THAT’S STILL MY JOB), but my Beatles phase is quite over (thank the Universe for that...).

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? Well, Buffy Sainte-Marie is currently my top artist of this year on Spotify. I’ve been listening to her and appreciating her a whole hell of a lot this year and last year and when I found that particular photo of her I was like ‘OMFG I LOVE THIS’ so I had to make it my icon. :’)

7. Why did you choose your header? It’s the part of the interview where the [Janis Joplin] quote in my blog description comes from - where she’s saying, “You see, actually what I'm trying to do mostly, in the whole world, is to not bullshit myself, and not bullshit anybody else.” I recognize that the blatant cursing could deter some people from following me, but I honestly don’t care. It’s my blog and Janis is my hero - it’s necessary, as far as I’m concerned.

8. What’s your post with the most notes? I’m pretty sure it’s a photo or photoset of Janis. :D💗

9. How many mutuals do you have? Quite a few! And ILY people. :)

11. How many people do you follow? (Blogs) 396

12. Have you ever made a shitpost? Um, I guess so. Not one that was ever really, like, “relatable” and got a bunch of notes, though. But I don’t care about that. LOL

13. How often do you use tumblr each day? A few hours to what you could definitely call excessive. I try not to be on here all the time, though...sometimes I’m good at limiting my time on Tumblr (and sometimes I am very much not). Although I’m also not here EVERY day out of choice, so meh, it depends.

14. Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog once? I guess so, especially in my early days here...and who won? I think that’s subjective. (As in: Usually I think I win but the other person ALSO thinks they won so like. You know...I guess it’s a tie. LOL This is why I try not to involve myself with drama, honestly. I’m too stubborn, and people are also stubborn. Resolutions don’t tend to work out in those situations, you know what I mean?)

15. How do u feel about "u need to reblog this" posts? I’m not a fan of quite often, but it depends on the subject matter. If it’s reasonable/urgent, then I try to.

16. Do you like tag games? Mostly! I appreciate that people think to tag me in stuff. :’) But then I feel guilty because I either a) take FOREVER AND EVER to actually do them, or b) I never do them at all. Haha. UGH. :/

17. Do you like ask games? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES, they’re one of my favorite things on here.

18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous? Honestly, I think “Tumblr famous” mostly refers to people who intentionally post memes and shitpost and stuff, and no offense to any of my mutuals but I don’t really think too many of you do...LOL So by that idea, I would say none?

19. Do you have a crush on a mutual? No, although I do feel great affection for my mutuals. :’)
