DPxDC Prompt:
The next blow sent the human tumbling into the wall. It wheezed and spat up a gob of blood, pulling itself up on trembling arms and legs.
Pathetic.
“So this is the mortal who captured our young king’s attention. The so-called warrior who he trusted with the sacred duty of guarding his core.”
A shadowed hand pinned it to the wall and it uselessly pawed at the blade-like claws pressed against its fragile throat.
“How a weakling like you seduced High King Phantom, I’ll never know.”
The human squeezed its eyes shut. I’m sorry Danny, it mouthed with cracked and bleeding lips.
The impudence.
Slammed into the ruined bricks once more, the human let out a breathless cry.
“You dare address him like that. You dare to call upon his living name!” Dagger sharp teeth dripped shadowy ectoplasm inches from the mortal’s flesh.
“I’m doing him a favor, disposing of you.”
There was silence.
Then.
The human looked up with glowing green eyes.
A wave of unearthly force erupted from its body.
A dual layered voice echoed out from its miserable throat.
“Oh you just made a BIG mistake.”

Prompts For When You Need A Whumpee To Fall Like A Sack Of Bricks
For when a slow and steady loss of consciousness doesn't quite cut it (but that's still good, don't get me wrong).
whumpee's still running on adrenaline when they bump into caretaker, nothing but smiles until they catch onto caretaker's horrified expression. they follow their gaze until they see the familiar stain of blood against their shirt. their shock drains the adrenaline from them, and before caretaker's even able to take a step forward their knees have buckled.
a sudden wound — a gunshot, a stabbing — and the pain lancing through them white-hot and agonizing. they're still processing what's happened to them, gaping like a fish out of water when they feel the ground slam into the side of their head. they're not sure when they fell, but every pulse pours out more red and reminds them over and over of why.
a caretaker running themselves ragged with just how many people are hurt or in need of them, unable to take a moment's rest for themselves. their vision starts to swim when they stand up but they ignore it, because it's not that bad yet and others have it worse. they're doing an excellent job pushing through, until they're suddenly not. their vision wavers a little stronger this time, and then into black, barely able to get out a surprised "oh" before they're on the ground.
bending down to grab something and not hearing the approach of someone from behind them. one moment, they're sifting through papers, a drawer, a cabinet — the next, there's a burst of horrible pain at the back of their skull and a deep, sudden darkness.
trying to climb out of bed after a broken fever — common sense tells them to stay in bed but they want a bath so badly. their body trembles the moment they move to stand, and they're barely upright for more than a few seconds before their weakened legs fold and they collapse in a pile of exhausted, aching limbs.
doing nothing, thinking of nothing until there's a bright surge of light and heat, white bleeding into black, so abrupt that it's not until they wake again that they even comprehend that anything happened to them.

Hot Take: It would break my heart if Anakin's dreams of his mother weren't actually prophetic, they were just regular anxiety dreams about his fears and unsettled feelings about nearing the age of graduation from being a Padawan to a Knight, it's normal to fear that change, even when you actively, desperately want it.
If they were just normal dreams that weren't Force dreams, but Palpatine, who had spent a lot of time with Anakin and could read him very well, including getting glimpses of his dreams, arranged to have that dream come true, so that Anakin would be all the more paranoid, that every thought that came into his anxious head would be one more example of the Jedi telling him that you have to let those fears ago, you can't be ruled by your anxiety, and now he can't distinguish between what's a Force dream and what's just his own terror, because it didn't feel like a Force dream (it wasn't a Force dream), but his mom was killed anyway.
It's also so incredibly difficult to tell your feelings of warning from the Force's whispers of warnings, a Jedi can take an entire lifetime to learn the difference, but imagine someone actively sabotaging it in such an impossible to overcome kind of way?
Palpatine playing the long game, so that he could use that paranoia when the time to strike came when he knew he would be able to use it against Anakin's desperation to save Padme again, is exactly the kind of horrible thing he would do to Anakin.

The detail about Vasco getting ear infections is so on brand for his breed, I love that little detail. I’m a dog groomer, and hounds are my absolute faves, but when people think they have soft velvety bunny ears I have to laugh. They are *thick* slabs of flesh that smell like ear wax. I hope Machete doesn’t mind 😂
