“bye mom!” luma called out, exiting their home. “have fun sweetheart,” their mother replied back. luma saw liv and chuuya ahead of them.

“where’s osamu?” luma questioned. the look in liv’s eyes told luma she knew what was up. “why? you missing your boy toy?” she nudged them, giggling.

“liv!” they exclaimed, an embarrassed expression appearing on their face. “ugh, don’t tell me you like dazai,” chuuya said disgusted.

“of course not!” luma forced out. “i just..get concerned sometimes, that’s all.” “…i’m sure he’s fine. he’s probably waiting for us at the restaurant,” chuuya reassured, hearing their voice falter.

letting out a breath, they followed the ginger and blonde. luckily, liv made sure to include them and not reduce them to a third wheel.

it was clear liv and chuuya had some chemistry despite bickering all the time. although, no one bickered with chuuya as much as luma. it was almost humorous.

“so, what have you guys been up to?” luma asked curiously. “arguing,” chuuya grumbled. luma sighed, wondering when they’ll let up and get together.

“yeah, because your dumbass decided to take on like ten guys who were ten times bigger than you,” liv scoffed. “i can take them on my own. besides, only came out with a few bruises,” chuuya defended himself.

“a few? your arms and chest were battered and bruised!” liv exclaimed in a panicked tone. “are you okay now?” luma inquired, worried for their friend.

“didn’t know miss luma could care about me,” he teased, earning a scoff from luma who also rolled their eyes. “i’m alright now, thanks to liv,” he explained, looking at her longingly.

“liv, always here to save the day.” luma hugged their best friend. liv smiled and giggled, hugging her best friend back. chuuya felt his heart swell when he heard liv’s laugh, it was like all he could focus on was her.

when they arrived at the restaurant, they were met with dazai waiting in front. luma’s eyes grew starry when seeing him, picking up the pace.

“they’re really happy to see him,” liv chuckled. “two motherfuckers who are crazy about suicide, might as well date already,” chuuya added, agreeing.

“wanna head inside?” luma asked as they and osamu approached the two gossiping. “s—sure!” liv said, cutting off her whisper to chuuya.

luma and osamu knew they were talking about them. it didn’t take a genius to figure that out. what exactly about them were they talking about, the two didn’t know.

“what are you gonna get?” luma asked osamu, glancing at liv and chuuya checking out the menu. “probably a burger, you?” dazai looked at them.

there it was again. that tingling sensation throughout his body. love. but, neither knew the first thing about love. luma had been betrayed so many times they almost gave up on it, if it weren’t for their not-so-secret lovesick personality.

“i’m not..hungry,” they muttered so only he could hear. they knew liv would insist on them eating something anyway. but they couldn’t think of the menu items without wanting to gag.

“i rarely see you eat. why don’t we share the burger?” he offered, making luma’s face contort in shock. “uh, i’m not too sure. are you sure you’re okay with that?”

“of course, i want you to eat after all,” he told them, moving up in the line. “order it however you like,” he added, a faint smile ghosting his lips.

when they moved up to the counter, luma, liv, and chuuya explained their orders, being told it’d be out shortly.

taking a seat at a vacant table, luma sighed to themselves. “what’s wrong, lumi?” liv asked. “just.. tired,” they explained, shaking their head.

“you’re always tired,” chuuya groaned in annoyance. “and you’re always annoying,” they bit back. he glared daggers at them, to which luma returned the glare.

“okay,” liv began, breaking the awkward tension and dangerous eye contact that made it look like they wanted to rip each other apart. “so luma, you get any new manga?”

“err, lemme think. not really, i haven’t been that much recently,” they explained, fumbling with their hands. “good, you have enough manga that you probably barely read,” chuuya said, making luma groan in frustration.

“chuuya,” liv said sternly, causing the ginger to lay off.

their order was called and luma and liv went to get the items. “so.. what’d you and dazai do yesterday?” liv asked, grabbing her and chuuya’s orders. “we just chilled in the forest and chatted,” luma explained casually, leaving out a vital part of their conversation.

“you two need to get together already!” she squealed, nearing the table where the boys were at. “liv!” luma whisper-snapped. she just chuckled and took her seat beside chuuya.

this left luma to sit beside osamu, which they didn’t complain about. it was normal to them. osamu was comforting to them.

they ate their dinner and chatted, liv having to break up several arguments between both luma and osamu with chuuya. liv secretly gushed each time dazai came to luma’s rescue when they argued with chuuya.

they finished up and headed to dazai’s place. it was the only house where luma could smoke properly without too many people caring. luma never pressured anyone to use with them, just enjoying their time with friends while getting the rush of the high while they’re at it.

luma slumped onto dazai’s bed, giggling at their friends. on the way home, they had smoked a little, making them faded. “oh god, are we gonna have to hear another one of your sappy high monologues?” chuuya huffed.

“fuck you,” luma spat. “you wish,” he fired back, making luma’s jaw drop. “how dare you accuse me of wanting to fuck a ginger!” they got up, beginning to whack him with the pillow.

dazai just laughed as liv had to break the two up. “you’re not helping that much, dazai,” liv said, breathing heavily. “it’s entertaining.” the boy shrugged. he would be lying if he didn’t feel an ache in his heart each time luma interacted with chuuya. what if under all that resentment there were actual feelings?

luma took out this dispo and took a hit, blowing the smoke out the window. “wanna watch a movie?” they asked, turning back to the three.

“we’re not watching deadpool again,” chuuya stated. “no fair! he’s literally me!” “one of you is enough!” chuuya huffed, crossing his arms. “luma’s one of a kind for real,” liv chuckled, earning a smile from them. “for real,” luma slurred, plopping onto the bed beside osamu.

“ooh!” luma shot their head up. “we should watch fifty shades of grey.” “no!” chuuya and liv exclaimed, liv giggling. “why do you entertain them?” chuuya asked liv. “because we’re both down horrendous,” luma interjected, smirking.

“that’s not something to be proud of!” chuuya snapped, earning chuckles from liv and luma. “it’s not like we can control it,” luma added, matter-of-factly. it was true, if they could control their hypersexuality, they would. but alas, their mind was always plagued with not entirely wanted sexual thoughts.

the four finally decided on a movie to watch. dazai let luma boot it up on the tv. liv and chuuya took the bean bags on the floor while luma and osamu took his bed. it was an unspoken rule, oblivious to luma, that they always got to be beside osamu. it made them feel safe and comfortable. they felt at peace with each other.

luma fell asleep an hour and a half into the movie. they could’ve smoked more but decided to knock out, the pleasure overwhelming their senses.

soon after that, the rest fell asleep other than osamu. he glanced at luma sleeping soundly, the weed knocking them out. his hand twitched to move towards their head, brushing a strand of hair out of their face.

“goodnight, luma,” he whispered, now laying beside them.

osamu slept soundly that night, knowing luma was right beside him and safe and warm.
