Simon "Ghost" Riley doesn't really do physical touch. He can take it from members of the 141 just fine, but it's hard for him to open up enough to really return the affection.

You can't blame him for it, really, after all he's gone through. Regardless of it all, though, he does try.

It's not obvious, at first. He stares just a little too long, makes a point to hand you things when you ask. Where he would turn away or pull his hand back immediately, he starts to linger. A little nod before he stops staring, letting your fingers brush when he hands you a document file or when you hand him a cup of tea. At first, he could feel his heart in his throat whenever you would get too close to him, but it gets a little less overwhelming with every instance of you touching him.

After a while, his fleeting touches turn into something a little more obvious, a little more clear in his intent. A hand to your shoulderblade to guide you somewhere, hands on yours as he teaches you something new. He sits a little closer than before, to where you could probably touch knees if you stretched your leg towards his. Simon would never tell you how his heart hurts whenever you come back to him with some new wound or bruise, but you learn quickly that the way he sticks to your side like a big dog is his way of showing his concern for you. It's kind of cute, really, how much he cares.

If you think he's bad now, just wait until you two become a thing. He beelines for you whenever he enters a room you're in, interlocks pinkies with you instead of holding hands. If you're relaxing in the base, he'll sit so close to you that you can rest your head on his shoulder, but he won't go out of his way to hold you unless you guys are sharing a bed or one of you has had a bad dream. In those cases, he'll hold you so close that you'd think he's trying to meld your bodies together, to keep both of you safe, to make sure neither of you will ever be without the other again. He's lost too many people he cares about, he's not gonna let you join that list. Not when he's finally found someone that lets him see a light in the darkness of a bad night, a bad mission.

Simon's not one to go in for a kiss, but he'll rest his head against yours when you lay your head on his shoulder. He'll let you hold his hand if you want, but he'd rather loop a finger through one of your belt loops to keep you close. It's comforting to him, having you close like that, but sometimes traditional physical contact is too much. It's too overwhelming, how much he cares, he can't handle you getting close. Be patient with him, watch his body language, and you'll see that even if he can't express it the way most people can, he loves you so, so much.

"I am right here." both girls turned back to Sebek. "Alright, I'm gonna go take a nap I'm tired-MEOW!" Yuuki had slipped and fallen into the cauldron the two had been testing on. "Yuuki?!" Vivienne rushed to pull her out of the cauldron but- *POOF!*

Peter Nureyev’s relationship with the rest of the Carte Blanche is… tragic. He joined the Carte Blanche with his sole motivation being paying off his debts. We get this much confirmed to us in Man In Glass. However, we also know that Nureyev looked up to Jet, Buddy, and Vespa as a criminal growing up. After Man In Glass, though, Nureyev’s motivations change, because of Juno, and because of the Curemother Prime.

After that, it’s hard to tell how much of his feelings are genuine and how much isn’t but the things we know are genuine is that Nureyev loves Juno and Nureyev desperately wants the crew of the Carte Blanche to like him (or at least like Peter Ransom). For the most part, though, the crew doesn’t trust Ransom at all, especially Vespa and Jet, which probably hurts a lot given that those are people he looks up to. Buddy believes in him, but she’s able to read him well enough to be wary of him, and Nureyev refuses to open up to her. Rita is probably the nicest to Nureyev outside of Juno, but liiiike. It’s justttt. You can feel how separate he is from everyone but Juno. Throughout the season, as the found family dynamics grow stronger, Nureyev is always left out. Everyone else grows closer, learns to trust one another, become the Aurinko Crime Family, but Nureyev is never really a part of that. His only real relationship is with Juno, because that’s the only one who Nureyev actually is willing to open up with.

BUT LIKE THAT’S THE WHOLE PROBLEM because Nureyev won’t open up to anyone except for Juno so no one trusts him except for Juno, but then Nureyev WANTS people to trust him, so so much, but he thinks that the way to get them to trust him is to hide himself more and lie more and be someone who the crew will like, but the more he does that the more they don’t trust him, and so he just pushes himself farther and farther away from them! And then the OTHER thing is that he was probably going to betray them. We know he at least planned to betray them on some level, but it’s unclear how much he planned to betray them and how much he actually did betray them, we still don’t know that. But like. Because of that he also knew that the rest of the family shouldn’t trust him, and they were right not to trust him. Even Juno could tell that he was hiding something, and even Juno doubted him, because it was obvious that he was hiding something big. So liiiiike yeah. That’s the tragedy of it all. The dynamics of the Carte Blanche are that there’s everyone, and then there’s Nureyev. In any discussion of them as a family, that’s always the unsaid part. The only person he has is Juno, and there’s something so lonely about a found family where you’re the only one who’s not a part of it.

But AHAHA ANYWAYS. YEAHHH SEASON 4 FINALE I’M SO NORMAL ABOUT THAT!!! SO. Ever since What Lies Beyond and ALL throughout season 4, Nureyev’s journal has been getting built up and built up. At this point, it seems clear that whatever information is in the journal is going to be some big reveal about Nureyev, something to do with his past and with Slip Jackson (his ex lol). It’s fairly easy to assume that it’s probably about Nureyev’s debts, since that has been something getting built up since Man In Glass. But uh… we’ve been getting some pretty worrying foreshadowing about Nureyev in season 4. In Nureyev’s journal, he implies multiple times that he was already planning to leave the Carte Blanche before Dark Matters showed up, and that he was expecting Juno to read the journal after he was gone. And then there’s what Juno says about Nureyev in Clean Break, where he’s talking about the love and elation he felt when he realized Nureyev helped them escape, he says “whatever I thought about him later, I can’t deny what I felt in that moment”. …Which implies that later, he would feel pretty negatively towards Nureyev.

Sooooo the season 4 finale is almost definitely going to give us the reveal that Nureyev betrayed the crew of the Carte Blanche. It just makes sense. I would really like Nureyev to actually show up, but I bet it’s just going to be the journal. I think we’re going to learn how Nureyev got in debt, and we’re going to learn to what extent he betrayed the crew. Then, whatever Nureyev’s debts have landed him in, I think that’s going to be a major conflict in season 5. I think season 5 (in regards to Nureyev) is going to include dealing with whatever conflict Nureyev’s reveal presents, getting rid of his debts, and Nureyev regaining Juno’s trust and gaining the trust of the rest of the crew, and actually becoming a part of the family. Whatever it is that he’s done, it obviously is going to make Juno angry with him, on top of Juno already being bitter about Nureyev disappearing, and so I think that’s gonna provide an interesting sort of dynamic between them, and I’m VERY interested to see what the FUCK is going on.

Also you know Nureyev journal proposal truthers never give up I still believe in the dream it can still happen ahaha
