There's a certain seriousness about him, but it's lighthearted, somehow. As if the supposed "direness" of the situation is actually not nearly as much as he's implying.

Or perhaps he suspects it was an excuse to draw him out to talk.

"Dire? It's not... I wouldn't really say it's-" Sigh. "Hello, Dragon."

Wanting to speak with him should enough of an excuse in itself, really - not that Jean would ever be so forward about demanding someone's attention. Giant awful lizard he may be, but Jean enjoys the Dragon's presence, just as much as he enjoys Teddy's. He married both of them, after all.

Lately, though, it's felt like he's only interacted with Dragon in moments of strife, shame; where he's misstepped, perhaps clung too tightly to something he shouldn't be clinging to, and had to be swiftly corrected. Dragon is good at swiftly correcting him. Dragon is also good at protecting Teddy from knowledge and memories that would hurt him, and Jean wonders just how much of that involves him. He sees the worst of him. Not only that, but he has to clean up the messes that the worst of him makes.

He does have a question to ask, something dire in a much more light-hearted sense, but before he can do that he's possessed by the need to know -

"Are you upset with me?"
