Usaually I don't bother, but I'm writing to you because i have looked up to you for a long time. I don't need you to respond, maybe even prefer if you won't, but your last post was a big blow for me.

I'm an israeli.

I was born here. My mother was born here. Her grandmother was born here. My grand grandmother fled here after the holocaust.

And you knkw what? You don't have to agree with the israel goverment, i mean if you'd look it up you'll see that almost no one here supports our current goverment. I wish i could sit with you and talk about the conflict and explain that it's nit really black and white as tumblr would like to believe, but i don't think that's a possibility.

But writing that we are "white settlers" is just... god. It's a lie. Not even just antisemtic lie, becuase 20% of israeli citizens are actually arabs (both muslims and christians). most of jewish populations are not even "ashkenazi" jews.

The interent currently is not a very reliable source of history (like, i've seen people claim we should call tel aviv "ahuzat bait" since it is its arab name. It's not. It's in hebrew, and the name of the first street if tel aviv when it was legally bought)

And if you ask why not let all the middle east countries participate in the eurivision - actually they let them. They just decided the quit when israel joined.

Again, I'm writing becuase I'm hurt. You can dissmiss it if you want, but i wish you wouldnt. Again, you dont need to post it or respond, i just wish you will think twice about what you hear or learn about a war the happens to other people, and doesnt affect you at all (some of us - on both sides - are actually afraid of dying).

oh bless you anon - i hope you're okay with me posting this, because i wouldn't be able to respond otherwise. i admit entirely i was being reductive - i haven't spoken a lot about this issue here because i'm afraid of letting emotion get the better of me, when i know how morally complex this issue is. i was being reductive - and i absolutely know there are a lot of israeli-born jewish people who are native to the land. and i know there are a lot of jewish people in israel who are against the occupation. and i know there is a huge population of israeli citizens who are against their government because the government is lying to their citizens just as much as they're lying to world.

but there is an image that the leading powers in israel want to paint to the world - the one they show in eurovision and any media presence (which they pour ungodly amounts of money into) - and it's of a very western, palatably white israel. i really would like you to know that when i refer to "israel" i refer only to the ruling powers that govern it - not the citizens that live there.

israel doesn't want you to see iraeli-born jews who are critical of their government and actually have been living peacefully alongside the muslim and christian population of the land for hundreds of years before the occupation. israel doesn't want to showcase that narrative, because that would show that actually the nation could've been peaceful and have equality for all it's people the whole time (because they've been doing it for HUNDREDS of years prior) and there was no reason to expel palestinians from their homes.

in eurovision, wants to show that israel has established this land and made it pristine and beautiful and countries should invest in this cosmopolitan utopia and new western culture that is so divorced from it's native people and it's history. palatable. marketable. clean. no war crimes here.

there's an unfortunate power imbalance in the world - and that's that some nations have the money and the power to curate and maintain a spotless public image - and other nations can't afford to keep the lights on in their hospitals.

actually having a massive dilemma bc of eurovision this year and its both ethical and personal. basically last year i went "ava you need a hobby" and i was like "goud is my hobby" and then i was like "something else ava" and so as my new years resolution was to get back involved in my drama society at uni. i miss performing so much. they had auditions for their first spot but i literally couldnt audition as there was no role for me and also i was in my hometown that weekend of auditions and had a concert the other night.

anyways they announced auditions for the open spot (which realistically funnily enough is where i'd pitch goud if i were to pitch goud but sometimes i feel i'll never be confident enough in myself to do that bc it is a very personal work to me at its core. also i'd need a co-director and i almost dont trust someone else with directing these characters) and i flipped through the thingy and what do you know? i can make auditions and there is a role for me. unfortunately i looked at the show dates and it happens to be a certain week in may.

with talk on the town of boycotting eurovision because of israel (which i do not support israel being there i always found it odd bc they arent europe and thats big words coming from an australian) and the ebu flipping around until the song deadline on whether or not to ban them, i have found myself less enthusiastic about this year compared to others. i was talking to someone about how israel (or the not finnish blue and white flagged place) basically is the elephant in the room hindering this, but even so, i only have a handful of entries i really put on repeat (netherlands, croatia, finland) from this year. so the whole situation is affecting my excitement for the event, and you'd think this would make it easier but its not. bc it still is my favourite event of the year and while i can participate in everything to do with the season, to do this and then not watch the finale is a waste to me. so now im at a dilemma with what to even do bc i'd love to be on stage again but it comes at a cost, and i'd love to watch eurovision but it also comes at the cost of a certain not finnish blue and white place being there.

so like, i made a list but this is somehow worse. bc like, i feel like i dont win either way.

in spring i had a moment where i listened to sempiternal on repeat on the cd player for multiple days straight and in the past month i've, again, been listening to bmth and specifically sempiternal again so it gets a special place, too.

wilbur is just there because i had jubilee line stuck in my head so so so so much and also it's the best study music ever. also wilbur why is i'm sorry boris so silent. i can barely hear it it makes me angry so i always skip it. and then bc its the end of the album it gives me some lmanburg flag cover-art song that i don't like

anyway here's a special mention to these 3 albums because 1) greeley estates - caveat emptor, i just discovered it this week and i am in love. also greeley estates has been in my radar for quite some time now and i find the singers voice to be very pleasant and interesting? the tone does sth for me 2) brand new - deja entendu, for being stuck in my head for a good week because the tommy gun song wouldn't leave my head since it came on shuffle from my saved mp3 list when net was down 3) just surrender - if these streets could talk, because again i was obsessing over this for like a good week before i forgot about it. good album. not available in serbia tho for some reason

11) Italy - song is alright (it actually grew on me in these weeks), Marco is a great singer and a cool guy, but half because I didn't want it to win Sanremo and half because I have actual favourites I'm spending the season worrying to death about, I have exactly zero interest about what happens to Due Vite in Liverpool

10) Moldova - how often does it happen to have two returning artists from the same year? Seeing Pasha and Loreen meet again was so cute! (and the fact that Ivi Adamou was there as well made the whole thing even better asdfghjffg) Anyway lol the song is awesome, Moldova incredibly managed to find a middle ground between genuine ethnodance and the amateurish country fair performance from last year, and I'm happy about it Lautar is also one of the few songs I actually love from 2012 btw, just as an add-on :'' He looks hella fine too but shh

9) United Kingdom - purely and simply a bop, it almost makes me forget how much of a tamarrata* it is asdfghjk As for its chances in Liverpool, if the pre-parties are of any indication, there's no way in hell this will get a top10 like many seem to predict, more like it will be lucky to get out of the bottom 5 :'' (*tamarrata = something camp and cringy and excessive, that sometimes you like exactly because of that lol)

8) Czechia - I usually adore songs with a women-supporting-women narrative, this one is no exception, and it also has a double reading which makes it even cooler I was a bit afraid that if they kept the aesthetic of the video on stage it could end up looking messy and uncoordinated, but luckily they decided to make it tidier and in fact their performance on Tuesday was amazing

7) Austria - This, this is how you do clever and funny This could have ended up being an apocalyptic level of trash but, ironically, the nonsense narrative keeps its feet on the ground Thankfully it seems like it's not a Halo 2.0, though the performance could have used being a lil bit more whimsical and energetic

6) France - I love how this starts tango-ish and then catches rhythm! I have no idea how it will go, France was my winner last year and I never would have imagined an almost last place for them, so yeah :'' I don't think they can snatch the win but I'd be on board with them trying purely because that would mean a new Sweden vs France death match which, like, AAAAAAAAAAAAA

5) Norway - this is the first song from this year I listened to and I'm still bobbing my head from that first time ahah This sounds like a song KEiiNO could have sung, which in my book is always a compliment We'll give her a wagon of points as soon as the commentators let it slip that she's Italian lol

4) Finland - This is me having a drunken dream while also never having been drunk in my whole life :'' Look, I love this song, or it wouldn't be in my top 5, it's a banger, it's fun and it's been stuck in my head since the first time I heard it in the studio version (the live rendition sucks, I know you all know but choose not to acknowledge it c:), I actually like the way it has two very different styles and the moment it leaves the rappish part to basically become the Carameldansen makes me fall from the chair every time It does deserve to do well. Does it deserve to win though? Ehhhh personally no, I don't think this is enough

3) Serbia - This year every time I think I have listened to the most feverdream-ish song of the line-up there comes another right after to prove me wrong lmao This is so weirdly composed, it pulls my nerves right out of me but like in a good way?? The part where Luke starts ''unplugging'' the dancers and his voice becomes low and rough gives me such a fine tingle in the stomach AHHHHH Serbia wants a win and it damn well shows, and maybe it won't happen this year but if they keep this up I don't think they will have to wait for much longer

2) Spain - this is genuinely amazing and I think it grew to be the only song that wouldn't make me want to set fire to the universe if it won in Sweden's place lol just because it's so ethnically artsy and well-sung and it has such sad melancholic good lyrics, plus I think Blanca would actually make a good winner ''Ay child, when I die let them bury me on the moon so that I'll see you every night, every night except one'' Best damn lyrics of the year hands down! 1) Sweden - The way she claims exactly every bit of the stage that she needs to, the way she shapes sound between her teeth, the desperation in her voice in the final part, the actual tattoo element which is important in her Berber culture, the creativity in the desert environment with both sand and sky, the double reference to the Atlas myth and the Atlas mountains, there's so much cool shit around this even if you don't like the song and so much to be happy about her participating again and so many people are choosing to stay mad for some of the most ridiculous reasons I've ever heard Unbelievable Not to mention that ''it's a song contest!!'' only when it fits their narrative I know she probably won't, it would be way too perfect and eurofans this year have decided that making literal history isn't cool, but IF she does…

obsessed. very 90s britpop. the rawness the emotion behind it the fact that he was drnk when they recorded it the frustration with the sneering and snobbery of people post Eurovision the references to everything that happened over those weeks the 'eat my shit' at the end. its powerful what does it mean to be cool why is there so much pressure on people to look and act a certain way why do we have all these preconceived notions on people based on everything down to the music they listen to . I love it .

I like faster paced songs but I love this song and I think the way it all builds and comes to a climax at the end is gorgeous before it slows down again for damiano and vic to all it all together. brilliant

Haha yeah we got a longer national selection process than the actual Eurovision. Like 5 weeks longer. But in a way when Melfest starts it's a sign spring is coming. Like first heat the sun sets around 1-2 pm and when it's time for the final the days are longer and the sun sets around 5-6 pm. Helps us get through the last part of a loooong cold dark winter.

Looks like the final will be a strong one this with the allegedly best songs from every heat and the ones that were decently strong made it to the semi. I think there are a few clear favourites to win but after Loreen's epic stage performance the others have a very tough task to outperform her. She's on a level of her own. Any of the strongest songs would've probably done well in Eurovision if they hadn't competed the same year.

Nothing is a done deal yet though and Sweden could decide to send someone else. If she won't win I'd like to see this rock band make it. We don't often send rock songs in comparison to Finland 😂 and this is the first time since 2013 a rock band has gone directly to the Melfest final. What do you as a rocker think about them?

Wow, I didnt know Smash Into Pieces was trying for Eurovisions🙌 I really like them. Rise up from them is a really good song. Their song is good. Visually amazing performance 🙌🤯 I really liked the style.

Of course I enjoy rock songs, but in a way my favorite songs in Eurovision are the ones that are really different from what you can listen to on the radio. Like Verka Serducka in 2007. It needs to be bit "crazy" if you know what I mean.

Also I love a good ballad. Molitva also from 2007 is one of my favorite entries in Eurovision history. I really liked Finland's entry in 2011 Paradise Oskar with Da Da Dam.

I agree with you, yes. Its the entitlement of some fans, for me. We don't have to know what they are doing or where they are everyday, in fact I think it's probably better if we don't. Damiano is an incredible frontman and it's ridiculous to assume that just because he is not in the same location as the rest of band every once in a while that he "lacks dedication."

- That’s a good idea. Being able to pick specifically I think would be too much. There are ALOT of corruptions so that would mean many many menus to be able to select everything. Being able to pick one of the four types seems fair to me as something to spend points on in Full Custom. Added it to my notes.

-Took me awhile to work this out as going from human to human seemed fine. However you’re right that those with a heritage like demi-angels or succubi will incorrectly keep the previous racial. 

The second so as long as you have at least one human you can get the buff by say having a northerner, noble, wastelander, and convent.

I do an update on the patreon every two weeks which is linked on the twitter. You do not need to be a patron to read these and is the best way to stay informed about what I’ve been up to. That includes the status of the conversion. To quickly sum it up;

It's at a stage where all the RAGS to Twine code conversion is basically done. What I need to do now is translate all that work into something playable and there's currently big logic issues with a bunch of the conditions and passages. So what I'm currently doing is trying to tidy up the visual look of the code with a bunch of idents with the theory that will make finding the errors easier.

Alas it’s not me disallowing guest posts... Picarto had some massive stonking issues and so they locked things down hard due to that preventing guests from chatting. I suggest a throwaway email site to get around that.

I don’t think there’s any art in the game file that’s not used as I try to keep on top of deleting the old ones. Not really down for doing art packs of the old ones as due to that not being my art so I see them as placeholder only until they can be replaced by commissions. 

I probably do need to do some kind of roadmap sometime. I’m less keen as it’s kind of a dirty word these days as due to the miss-use of them by others it’s got some bad connontations, but I’m also aware the alternative which is me randomly mentioning stuff on discord/picarto streams leaves the vast majority of my audience in the dark which is also really not ideal.

It’s not hit industrialization yet. What makes the difference is and allows cities like Aversol and even bigger to exist is that the organization of the human empire is far better than it has any right to be for the other levels of development being able to keep an incredibly complex supply chain constantly flowing even if on the ground level it barely seems to be moving at all. There are also some much, much larger farms both on the Great Plains and further to the north compared to the much more isolated single/couple of households ones that your slavers raid.

Love When Week’s End Comes for a recent one. Writing all the results in colour commentary (and all the variations for weather, events and outcomes) was a real challenge and I do like how it came out. 

Witch-Queen and Arisin’ for being the first times I tried to go for a different, more potentially disturbing/freaky mood, and I’m pleased with the results. 

Sable Masquerade as I really like the ‘bad end’ I came up with. Actually I like the whole thing as while the pitch from the patron obviously helped, a lot of it was inspired by a random superhero bondage party picture I saw on HF, which I decided to run with, and had a bunch of fun exploring.

Clothing management. So very much clothing management. I’ve redone it entirely twice now, and it’s still not where I want it to be. 

[From the Discord]: What was your inspiration for creating the setting of No Haven?  Has the direction the game has gone varied from your initial idea? If so what has been the biggest change?

- It started off with adapting the chan game Deeper Dungeons which was basically a certain popular mmo with nothing different about it outside of it being porn along with some possibly unwise options of personal abuse. I first changed it by ditching gnomes for neko which to my mind was a clear upgrade. There even used to be an examine refference in the RAGS version to suggest they’d been in the region of the dungeons before being driven out.

Then it was a gradual process of adding with the occasional subtractions to get it closer to a more Warhammer feeling setting which has always been a major love of mine when I was still doing Whorelock’s in RAGS.

With No Haven it was a case of building on what I’ve done there and expanding upon that with the race lore and assignment descriptions. Biggest was probably when I did the favoured/unfavoured stuff and added a ton of extra backstory to various races to justify the choices made there.

The self titled and only album of Fear and the Nervous System is is a curious experience. I have literally never heard anyone in my life sing with as much harrowing intensity and passion as this singer, to the point that I don’t even know if I would call it singing anymore... but it does work and fold into the instrumentals very well, creating a rather unique mood. Genuine “Let me wallow in my depression for an hour before I move on” kind of music. It might click with you, might not. But I do think it’s very underrated.

Fun facts:

When I was born, I almost died.

In spite of my entire family being devout Christians, I remember believing in some form of reincarnation at such an early age that I had no business knowing what the word reincarnation even means. I was in fact very convinced at a time that I’m either one of my great-grandparents on my mother’s side, or from the generation before that. (Now that my religion is what it is, honestly I don’t really know if this is true or not. But I thought this back then for some reason.)

Before moving to Germany, I sang in choirs my entire life, some of which were fairly professional level, I guess? We would go to international competitions and stuff. 

I don’t know if this was a weird coincidence or the spirit world itself shifted reality around me to protect me, but I somehow never heard the Frozen theme song in its entirety. In my life. Not one time. Not even when it was on the radio non-stop. If I managed to catch it somewhere, it was always when it was just about to end. 

I used to want to be a professional animator, but when I grew up and researched about the profession more, it didn’t seem like it was worth the hassle. Regardless I’m still obsessed with animation, I watch cartoons all the time and I would like to teach myself how to animate even if just on an amateur level. 

I have no idea how to tie a shoe with only one bunny ear. I was taught the two bunny ears method and that’s all I’ve ever known.

Some things that I associate with Loki that have absolutely nothing to do with the lore or anything include snow, a very specific shade of blue, roses, cherry (but only the scent or flavor, not the fruit) and various forms of iridescence.

Like probably all kids who are into metal, I also dreamed of becoming a rockstar a little bit, but more interestingly, in my fantasy I was going to be blindfolded on stage and I thought that would be my schtick as a performer, for some reason. Of course the cloth would have to be sheer in order for me to be able to see just enough to orient myself on stage. It’s somehow both hilarious and bone-chilling to look back on now, that another and actually kind of obvious solution to the orientation issue never occurred to me on my own

When I was a kid, I entered a nationwide contest to write a faux folk tale and my tale made it to the semifinals. 

The only “what is your favourite” type of question I can give a straightforward answer to is what my favourite book is. It’s The Neverending Story by Michael Ende (who would have thought!)

I knew I was nonbinary my entire life, but I only learned that there is a word for it when I was 25.

Besides my native Hungarian, English, and a little German that I speak, I also learned Japanese and Norwegian (in highschool and during university, respectively) both for 3 years each, and I was on roughly B1 (low intermediate) level in them at my best. I don’t remember much of Japanese, and I only understand a little Norwegian when it’s in front of me to read, but once German is no longer the priority, I would like to relearn them at least a little bit. 

One of my completely useless talents is that if we talk to each other and I have a drink in my hand, I will somehow supernaturally detect it from your brainwaves when you are about to tell a funny joke and will attempt to drink just beforehand. This has happened so often that I can now suppress the instinctive urge to try to swallow the drink halfway wrong and choke on it. If you were planning to assassinate me this way, it would not work.

The reason why 18 is my favourite number is because my life seems to be entwined with it in a weird, almost supernatural way. For example an unnaturally large number of things that are important to me (including my birth) happened on the 18th of a month. 

Since there is no Halloween party I’m going to this year, I don’t have a specific costume but I will definitely take my make up kit regardless and go absolutely feral with it just to be in the Halloween spirit a little bit. 

Whew man... it was really tough to come up with 18. I’m more boring than i thought.

245. Amaury Vassili - “Sognu” France 2011

Ah, the elusive ~actual opera~ entry (not to be confused with it’s cousin, Pop/Opera). You may not know this about me but I’m actually a frequent patron of the Flemish Opera and have a pretty good understanding of how opera should be brought live and ... “Sognu” is not it lmfao. 

You see, the main reason why opera can be amazing live is because it’s a very BOMBASTIC, over-the-top spectacle. If done right, it’s Cirque du Soleil with words. “Sognu”, which in itself is a VERY average composition, offers the visual of stuffing George Of The Jungle in a LesMis costume and calling it a day. 

Don’t let those date rape bugs bite, mr Vassily...x

However, I do enjoy Amaury’s arc in that *everyone* apparently thought he was winning? Which is just baffling (I didn’t follow the 2011 preshow but I instantly knew Azer would win once I heard "Running scared” in the first Semifinal lol.), but hey, I always support my lovely underdogs and conversely when a contenderbeast falls flat on their face at the last second, I’m all in for it. BLEDAR SEJKO <3333333456789 Oh wait, it’s the OTHER entry that features him, in a mute role NEVERMIND.🤭

Obviously, I have some ~fondness~ for "Feel the passion” but it’s mostly academic: I like the Albanian Screechy Harpy and Aurela Gaçe is a decent interpretation of the archetype (she’s without question the NOISIEST of the lot, if not the screamiest). I like how “Feel the passion” also showcases the typical Albanian sound, tiptoeing well between quirkiness, moodiness and datedness. There’s even an eagle backdrop! 

Overall, “Feel the passion” showcases “Albania in Eurovision” pretty well. Too bad it’s not very good though, WHOOPS. ________________________________________________________________

I’m kind of struggling how to even tackle this write-up? Humorous? In-your-face? Sassy? Smug? I suppose I’ll keep it honest and academic, because “You are the only one” is fairly good on the surface, but nevertheless, it has... problems.

“You are the only one” is, in my opinion, the most overrated entry in this entire decade. You see, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. It’s very competent. 

However, I... don’t care about competence? I care about real humans that do *really human* things, by which I mean the Tamaras, the Elenii, the Månses, the Polinae: Talented actors who are able to sell their great songs through the sheer force of ~*P E R S O N A L I T Y*~ instead of pure technical singing ability.  

“You are the only one” couldn’t be further away from that ideal for me. It misses something I hold very dear and that thing is authenticity. It lacks quirkiness. It is too perfect and that I find very unsettling. Russia’s entries lack that genuine disarming charm that many winners have and that is why they fail so badly at winning Eurovision, despite always being well-liked. 

(ofc Russia being political assholes and shamless hypocrites and colluding blowhard bullies also factors into that, but I believe Eurovision is mostly apolitical in its decision making. If Eurovision were a political game, I’d imagine Russia would do significantly worse, in every year) Besides this, I think the staging is... really not that great either, WHOOPS. The act itself is a spectacle, but (1) it’s very clearly trying to impersonate “Heroes” and fuck that lack of creative direction (2) “You are the only one” is actually a well-composed song. It’s a clear hit. It sells itself. Especially when in the hands of Sergey Lazarev. 

However, because the act pulls *VERY* hard into these tryhard visual effects it doesn’t need, the song becomes background noise facilitating the act, instead of the other way around and this I think is a really bad take on staging. Songs, not staging, are what wins Eurovision, but only if they’re good. Staging, not songs, is what can cause losses, but only if it’s bad. I don’t believe ‘Staging’ and ‘Song’ should compete with each other for attention, no matter how effective that strategy is as drawing in an audience. They should compliment each other and if a song is great, the staging should be simple.

So yeah overall, I am ranking Sergey right *here*, in the anonymous spot of 241st, with zero regrets. I have no emotions about him whatsoever beyond the academic “he is competent”; Russia tried way too hard to win and the overal result kind of sucks. And you know what else sucks? THUNDER AND LIGHTNING IT’S VERY EXCITING. 😈 Yes! That’s right. I dont even like that STUPID CATCHPHRASE!! HA! HAHA! HAHAHA! HAHAAHHAA! HHAAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHHAAAA!!!

Collection of thoughts on Gojo and social interactions

Because I have way too much time on my hands i started thinking about how Gojo actually interacts with other people which led me on an interesting hike through various thoughts on that matter that may or may not make sense and i thought “Hey why not make it everyone else’s problem?” This is not a meta or anything like that, just word vomit

So here goes:

In fanfics hes often written as someone who has an easy time flirting with people and is pretty easy to approach and befriend and date. Its a fanfic, so sure thing. Not everyone is in the mood for 400k slow burn, sometimes you wanna get to the Good Stuff. (wether thats smut or fluff or both is up to y’all)

But what if he’s actually hard to befriend and even harder to date? He basically never interacts with anyone whos his equal and when he does people dont seem to react very well. The person that responds well to him is Yuuji, his student. The last time he had an equal that didnt treat him like hes a spider in the bathroom and they are pondering wether to squash it or get the vacuum cleaner was in high school.

Because he never interacts with people who are his equals/the ones that are dont particularly like him there’s now the question what Gojo would actually do if someone would just... join his antics.

That would be so interesting to see tbh. Like, he’s like “Lets throw riceballs at each other while we discuss the seperation of church and state” and Nanami is like “Yeah nah.” But what if there was someone who would be like Yuuji (who would think thats an amazing idea) but can see eye to eye with Gojo. Would Gojo suddenly Have Something Else To Do? Would he be happy about it? Would he let this person into his personal bubble? Which also begs the question wether or not Gojo intentionally comes up with the most outrageous stuff cuz he knows nobody would take up his offer or if he actually wants to do stuff like this. (I hope it’s the latter but tbh wouldn’t surprised if it’s the former)

Gojo seems like someone who has “given up” on the possibility of ever finding friends again. As far as he is concerned he’s alone and will forever stay alone but how would he react if someone bangs on the wall he build around himself and wants to be let in? Would he let them in? Would he push back? Would he push back even though he wants to let people in but is afraid? So that would mean the person just has to keep insisting on being let in and eventually it might work.

Maybe he is a bit like an onion, has layers. The court jester parts are interwoven with trauma, mental illness and other heavy things and you have to peel and peel and peel. The first layer is obviously his happy go lucky self. And beyond that are the first traces of depression, that something is definitely not as it seems. Then you get the fact that he’s clearly still an optimist, when it comes to others. But a pessimist when it comes to himself. He has trust in other people. Despite having been betrayed and being alone since. But he cares about people, genuinely. An onion, kinda, maybe. The deeper you get the higher and thicker the walls will become

Or maybe I’m reading too much into nothing and he’s just a funny guy.

* chokes on tears * It's just... Gojou was and still is hated by almost everyone around him. At best they simply don't get along with him well and at worst they openly despise him. His only "friends" are teenagers. He lost his only friend in highschool due to things that weren't in his control. He would have every reason to become a cynical misanthropic asshole who doesn't care about others at all and doesn't give a shit about he saves people or not. But instead he chose not to be like this, to be optimistic and caring and silly even if others don't get along with him. He easily could've bend over backwards to be more like his peers would want him to be but instead he chose his own way. It is So Easy to become an asshole when life is an asshole to you but So Hard to be kind and optimistic when everything around you is grimdark and you have nobody to talk to. He's consistently kind to the people who dislike him (except the higher ups but who would be nice to them anyway). And now hes in the punishment rubix cube for naughty kids and he's probably practising a stupid one-liner he's gonna say once someone unseals him. Just trusting that everything will be alright in the end.

And i think all of this is much much much more important than any other trait he has. He has as much confidence in everyone else as he has in himself even though the people he has confidence in dont even like him.

Canon Gojo: - nerd - discusses politics for fun - pranks are pretty harmless and actually hilarious - digimon fan - likes trains - likes video games (and played at least one obsessively) - will infodump about his favourite sweets unprompted - has no issues asking others for help At All - knows what he sucks at and thats why asks others for help - still loves Geto (like, are you guys even reading the fucking manga????) - wants his students to succeed - good at household chores - movie nerd - never talks to anyone in a way they cant handle - Teasing is really just... teasing, its harmless and the other one is annoyed at worst - seems to not be very good at art - likes karaoke - makes video game analogies to explain things - compares stuff to digimon - explains things in exactly the way they need to be explained in order for people to understand - empathetic but sucks at expressing it - the worst fashion sense - what even is personal space - is referred to as "that idiot" by everyone, including his students - the silliest - is genuinely kind even to people who cant stand him (as long as they arent the High Ups)

Gojou x male reader hcs (very self-indulgend)

Randomly thought.. hey why not? There aren't many on here or anywhere really and maybe someone likes these.

Reader is the newly transfered to Tokyo and someone who enjoys goofing off and pranking others just as much as Gojou. Sfw Warnings: It's self-indulgend. Didn't proofread. That's it.

How you got together:

So you're the new sorcerer on the block. Freshly transferred from a more rural prefecture to Tokyo. You've been to big cities before but wow, Tokyo really is in a league of it's own. It's just endless.

You're really glad when Ijichi drives you out of the city again after what seems likes hours. The area almost reminds you of home, with the unobscured view of the mountains and forests.

You don't even get to see Gojou for the first week you're there since he's out on a "business trip". You meet his students instead and warm up to them almost immediately.

When he returns you are out in the courtyard playing "hide and seek" with the first years.

It's Very Important Training though, you see? Definitely not just goofing around during school hours cuz it's too warm inside. It was Yuuji's idea.

Suddenly this Very Tall Man is standing next to you, almost scaring you to death. All you wanted to do is hiding behind a bush but now you feel like you're fighting for your life.

"Oh whoopsie daisy, did i scare you? What are you doing here? Are you the new guy? Hey new guy, I'm Gojou!"

You shush him but it's too late and Yuuji found you.

Later Gojou gives you a tour of the campus even though you already know everything. Let him be, he wants to feel useful in other ways than just exorcising curses.

He wastes little time testing the prank waters with you. Only hours after the tour he slips a "dick pic" in your sweater jacket. You know it was him immediately, Nanami warned you. Poor Nanami would never have guessed you would get a laughing fit over it.

In turn the next day Gojou opens his door there are thousands of plastic cups filled with water in the hallway. He has to gingerly step over them to avoid flooding.

The next time you return from a mission the screen of your computer in the office is covered in post its.

So ofc you follow around Gojou a whole day with a squeaky toy making squeaky noises with each step he takes. It's great workout. He walks very fast.

A whole week passes by, the two of you constantly pranking each other. After a waterballoon fight Gojou asks you if you wanna have a movie night with him. You instantly agree.

He puts on the worst movies you have ever seen. It's great fun. You throw popcorn at the screen and poke fun at all the horrible acting and terrible "special effects" a high school student could do better. You catch the microphone dangling around the frame several times. One character has the most bored death scream ever.

It somehow becomes a ritual, every time Gojou or you return from a mission you have a movie night. The pranks continue too. Gojou is genuinely delighted to have met someone who can keep up with his pranks and jokes. You two have quite some good banter.

"Not bad for a country bumpkin!" "Hey, what's that supposed to mean?"

Once after an especially long and tiring mission Gojou is awfully quiet during the movie. Halfway through he just rests his head on your shoulder. No one questions it or says anything. You don't wake him up when he falls asleep even though there is a helicopter exploding on screen. And also your arm falls asleep too.

In the actual relationship:

Things somehow smoothly progress like this. Pranking, movie nights, sometimes Gojou takes you out to town to get something to eat or see a movie in an actual cinema or you go to the arcade. He won a giant purple teddy bear for you once that you had trouble fitting into the taxi on your ride back. It now takes up half of your bed.

There is no dramatic realisation of feelings or anything like that. You noticed quickly that you were crushing on Gojou and decided to let things happen naturally however they wanted to. Also you sensed that if you would ask Gojou about this he would leave immediately and probably not come back. "So what are we" Conversations are not his thing.

So of course you also never said anything when Gojou would start being all cuddly during movie nights or would hold your hand when just walking around or hanging out. Yes you were delighted and relieved that the feelings were mutual but you knew better than cornering him with questions about it. You would hate being cornered with it too.

Sometimes even though he's on campus you somehow don't see him for days. On other times he follows you around constantly. He's super giddy when you decide to randomly follow him around too one day. Even when it's with the squeaky toy again. Yes, the pranks ofc still happen from time to time.

You stargaze one night and he's surprisingly quiet as he listens to you ramble about astronomy. After you are done he is the one rambling and you're surprised he didn't become a college professor instead. "What? I have a lot of books about this!" "I didn't even know you can read."

Every time you do something together you learn something new about him, it's endless and you couldn't be happier.

When Gojou became more openly handsy (with your permission) you were briefly worried about how the others would react but no one said anything. Except for Nanami saying that Gojou is somehow even more annoying now.

Sometimes clings to you like a koala. A very very tall and surprisingly heavy koala. Also master of puppy eyes and super warm tight hugs.

You never know when a cuddle session will turn into a tickle fight. Once you got a slight bruise from falling off the bed and Gojou spend ten minutes "kissing it better" and telling you he's sorry. As if you could be mad at him.

Jokes about how you two will be the most annoying people in the retirement home 60 years from now.

Always brings you presents from his missions which range from actually sweet and thoughtful to Just Food And Snacks to hilarious junk you wonder where he even found it.

He likes being the big or little spoon equally. When he's the big spoon you can be sure to not be able to get up for the next hour or so. He will wrap his legs around yours and trap you there. Also puts his head and your shoulder and will suddenly blow raspberries against your neck until your crying with laughter. Mostly is the little spoon when he's tired or remembering Things. Then he's weirdly quiet and just pulls you along to the couch or bed and plop his head on your chest. Don't mind that he's way too tall to fit properly. He might want to talk about whatever is bothering him or not but regardless, you have to play with his hair. If you stop he will look up and pout. Nicknames he probably will give you: Prince Muffin man Sweetiepie Fluffmuffin

And what you call him: Snowcone Snowdrop Little polar bear Vanilla Mocchi

3:52 p.m. update: I got permission to go to my friends house which is 1 hour away :) its tommorow and they pick me up 10am so I need to get ready early... worth it to hang out with my #besties anwyays uh I got up late this morning. Apparently it's like some kinda festivity today... oh! Yeah, Canada day.

Idk how to feel about celebrating Canada with all this stuff about the literal genocide of Indigenous people... but I'm not doing it to "celebrate canada" like as a country... I'm doing it so my dad will do stuff like take us to get Cora's (which is sorta like denny's or ihop) and see fireworks XD.

I WOULD wear orange or soemthing but again, I cant really be "political" with my parents it's.... a thing. They'd be angry. And really, the last thing I want with this divorce is to upset them more.

It ruins any gushing. Cos I just keep thinking about how NOT HIM I am. XD I'm a loser.

Oh uh we are at this beach rn that is like. Technically a river but it got sand and a sand island by accident and now people treat it like a beach. I was looking for hagstones again but found none... I don't want to be cursed by Jordan of all people... for my irls, yes I'm aware this isnt their name. I spell it this way for anonymity. Anyways. I went in the water... whcih suckdf cos I had just eaten and was bloated and insecureeee also I'm trans so. It sucks yknow, having trouble doing the stuff other people have no issue with. Just because I'm so uncomfortable with my own fucking flesh prison. Whatever. I KNOW it doesnt make me less of a man. It just.... feels uncomfortable. dysphoria things yknow.

12:36 a.m. update

Hey. Just got home. Basically what happened is I got home from the beach, fucked around for a bit, went out walking with my friend, got home a little late, went to see fireworks... just got home now.

I... I dont know. I had fun until we got home from our walk and my dad seemed mad cos we got there late :/ and my sister kept mentioning every two seconds that she had only eaten once that day, like some sort of badge of honour, and I sat there staring out the window, with all the heat and darkness and city lights from cars and buildings and traffic lights and streetlamps and signs and I squeezed my arm and thought "wow, I'm fat. This is disgusting. Fix it."

Honestly? My body is disgusting. I dont want it anymore.

And the fireworks looked like the Red Static reaching out to me in different colours and I kept thinking about coming home to It. Which would mean death. I sorta spaced out and nothing felt REAL and I kinda wanted to cry because I felt so ugly and fat and that's all I could think about.

I'm too tired for this bs. Gn

that’s actually so weird for me considering UK has sooo many talented and well known artist but when it comes to Eurovision they barely get any points..and you don’t ever need to apologize if you think you’re replying late. god knows I suck at replying, my friends can be waiting for a week for me to reply lol hope everything is alright ♥️ my week wasn’t very good with all the job searching. the more I look at the offers the sadder I get. and I haven’t heard from anyone since like Monday even tho all of them looked at my application. I know I only started my search last week but when there’s no good signs at all, it’s hard to be hopeful. ugh. sorry for the pessimism. I’ve just been in the mood and the fact that I don’t have energy to do anything apart from lying in bed all day and searching and searching isn’t helping 😔 it’s always been a problem for me. when I don’t know what to do, don’t have an end goal, it’s really hard to do anything at all. you know? anyway. hopefully it’ll change soon. especially since the forecast is promising us sun next week, it’ll definitely help my mood a lot, so yay! hope you have a nice end of the week! only one more day and it’s weekend again😁

i know its easier said than done but dont feel disheartened!! job hunting can often be a very long process. the last time i was unemployed i was searching for months and applied to 100+ jobs before i found my current job (which i love!). and i dont say that to depress you but to say that perseverance 100% pays off and that things happen for a reason. the right position will come at the right time i know it!! just take things one day at a time and one application at a time. you got this 🙌🏼
