if there was a gender swapped version of if we were villains, Jenny would totally be oliver’s theme song.
sorry for the probably overdone take, but this book destroyed me, and i genuinely needed something for these two. one book is not enough!

for liam, who do you enjoy the most out of the group, and who would you love to get closer to?
Tumblr media
Alex is an important companion of mine. He's troublesome, but life certainly is more entertaining with him in it. Clover... She is annoying and I wouldn't exactly call a companion, but I don't hold any animosity toward her. And Valerie is nice.
I'd like to have more opportunities to socialize with Ethan, however. He's quite pleasant to spend time with.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lee heeseung ( 이희승 )
he’s extremely worried about you, looking around the stage to make sure you’re okay. after making sure you’re okay backstage, he’d make sure you didn’t feel embarrassed. he’d praise you for your performance despite the accident, telling you how amazing you sounded and looked. ( he’d baby you, reminding you to ice your ankle every second of the day )
park jongseong ( 박종성 )
jay is already standing up, making his way backstage to meet you. he’d be right by your side the whole time, making the experience less painful. jay wouldn’t leave your side once. he’d hold your hand, brushing your hair back for you and making sure your pain was the last thing on your mind.
sim jaeyun ( 심재윤 )
he’d find his way onstage immediately, helping you and seeing how bad the pain is before the paramedics got there. jake would brush your hair out of your face, smiling and kissing your forehead while praising you for how beautiful you look. he asks things like “does it hurt when I do this?” and “how bad does it hurt?” nobody matters, but you in that moment.
park sunghoon ( 박성훈 )
hoon would try to act like he’s fine and not worried at all, but he’s so worried. he is frustrated, worried, upset, and.. worried. he’d get frustrated by how slow everyone is working and he just wants you to not be in pain as soon as possible. aside from his worries, he admires you for being as tough as you are.
kim seonwoo ( 김선우 )
sunoo is immediately in shock when he sees you stumble off stage. you were doing so well.. he doesn’t understand what happened. his leg is shaking as he’s sitting in his seat, waiting to hear news about you. when he visits you to see a boot on your foot he’d ask to hear everything that happened. he’d talk to you about it and make sure to take care of you, reminding you to take it easy when it comes to more difficult choreography in the future.
yang jungwon ( 양정원 )
his brows are farrowed as he stands up, rushing onto stage to help you up and tend to your needs. he’d hyper focus on your expression to see if you’re in pain as he elevates your leg on his knee. jungwon is so soft and gentle with you, not wanting it to hurt worse. he’d prefer if no one touches you except him until the paramedics got there.
nishimura riki ( 西村 力 )
he’d sit in his seat and worry until he knows you’re okay. it takes all of his members to console him. niki can’t calm himself while thinking about how hard you fell and how much pain it seemed like you were in. when you’re healing and your arm is secured in a splint, he’d tease you for how clumsy you were.

The next chapter for He Chose You is coming along, definitely longer than the last. Here’s another tiny preview:
“Please make yourself comfortable, my dear.” When he gestured to the couch, you awkwardly shuffled to sit down. Lou was right on your heels, loathe to spend even a second without your warmth.
The duck ended up snuggled on your lap after begging to be lifted as you sank into the plush sofa. And you were grateful, hugging Lou to you gently as if he were a plush toy.
It helped take your mind away from that spine-tingling feeling when it made a comeback — the way Mr. Farrow’s eyes glittered when he looked at you and his duck.
‘Oh god, they probably are swingers. And they lure in their targets with this crazy well-trained duck.’ You thought, punching yourself in the face mentally. ‘And you fell for it. Walked right into their den of debauchery. You stupid bitch.’
“Here’s some water, honey. We’ll save the stronger stuff for dinner.” You jumped in your seat when Mrs. Farrow appeared at your side, setting a glass of ice water down on the end table beside you.

Kamabokos as Lower Moons
Kanao
Douma’s personal project, and to an extant kindred spirit, rescued from slavery and ascended to Demonhood on a lark.
Pale and humanlike, the only indications of her true nature being the kanji scrawled across her fractal petaled eyes and the glint of fangs as she begins feeding.
A glutton not just for flesh, but of emotions, assisted by her Blood Art, an imitation of Douma’s, with which she generates and controls a flexible, crystalline substance similar to ice.
Aside from weapons, these crystals can solidify any blood they come into contact with, and instill a sense of apathy in the victim as Kanao begins to feel what they do.
This culminates in her ultimate technique, Blooming Wisteria Forest, creating a grove of crystalline trees that shred her opponents to ribbons as they stand there, uncaring of their fates.
Among the Lower Six, she would reach their apex, first in line to assume Waxing title should one of her superiors fall. Among the Upper Six, she would instead bear the title of Two.
Tanjirou & Nezuko
Where one of these siblings goes, the other follows, even into Demonhood.
Tanjiro is the demonic to the Yoriichi Zero Type, a porcelain doll with six arms, each pair wielding a seven branched sword.
It is with these swords that he produces his Blood Art, superheated ash meant to choke his enemies and burn them inside & out.
His Ultimate Technique, Burning Dragon, ignites the ash into a flaming construct which he controls using his families’ ancestral dance.
Nezuko by contrast fights with fist, foot, and the vine like protrusions that sprout from her back and thighs like whips, igniting them at her leisure into a scorching magenta flame.
These vines true purpose are showcased by her Ultimate Technique, Infernal Garden, where she encases her victims in flaming bulbs, burning away their flesh to preserve their skeletons, which she can later release as soldiers.
Amongst the Lower Kizuki, these two children of flame occupy the Second and Third positions. And while Nezuko mirrors this placement amongst the Upper Ranks as Waxing Three, Tanjirou, with his command of the original Breathing Style, is granted the illustrious title of Waxing One...
Genya
A tragedy of misunderstanding and impulsiveness drove Genya into Muzan’s grasp, who twisted him into a towering juggernaut, scars turned to terrible maws and blood boiling with hatred.
Genya possesses a burning hatred of slayers that mirrors his brother’s enmity of demons, and he has made a habit of taking fallen Slayer’s swords, melting them down with his flaming blood and remaking them into his own demonic arsenal.
His Ultimate Technique, Breathless, is even more terrifying, as his maws open as one to literally steal the breath from his opponents lungs, leaving Slayers deprived of their primary weapon.
A younger Demon, amongst both the Waning and Waxing Moons he retains the rank of Four, though his sheer hatred and potential for growth leaves him as one of Muzan’s favourites...
Inosuke
Another experiment of Douma’s, Inosuke was changed as an infant to see how Demoic might interfere with natural growth.
What resulted was a creature more beast than man, a pretty face dangling like an anglerfish’s lure in front of a massive mountain of flesh and bone twisted into the shape of a monstrous, spine covered humanoid boar.
His form is constantly mutating to take on the features of wildlife, from bladed wings more fit for evisceration than flight, to shedding hairs to irritate lungs and eyes in the vein of a spider, to venom and poison from half a dozen beasts concentrated into a potent cocktail.
His Ultimate, Mountain King, turns him into Gaia’s wrath incarnate, his flesh spawning hordes of twisted creature to overwhelm his opponents, with an entire farrow of demonic boars leading the charge.
His mountainous strength but lack of wit and unwillingness to traverse beyond his mountains earns him a lower position amongst the Kizuki, either as Waning Five or Waxing Six.
Zenitsu
A coward and a pervert, demonic Zenitsu possesses noe of the redeeming determination to better himself his human counterpart ultmately possesses, turning the boy’s surprising tenacity towards much darker goals...
A skittering thing, with too long limbs capable of startling speed and six ears constant searching for trouble, always fearing confrontation.
But when forced into a fight, He can unleash panicked screams capable of bursting eardrums and electroconductive skin and blood comparable in strength to lightning bolts before shooting off in a flash off light and sound.
His Ultimate, Yakusanoikazuchi, turns his flesh into spears that travel at the speed of sound and summon lightning when they hit. This electricity lingers, turning the battlefield itself into a shocking hazard that herds his enemies in.
Among the Waning Moons he clings to their bottom rank, but a promotion to the Waxing ranks has given him the confidence to seize the position of Waxing Five from Inosuke...
To clarify rankings:
Upper Moons (1->6). Tanjirou, Kanao, Nezuko, Genya, Zenitsu, Inosuke.
Lower Moons (1->6). Kanao, Tanjirou, Nezuko, Genya, Inosuke, Zenitsu.

Chapter 4
~ Egghead - The Land of Science. ~
Tumblr media
A few days later in the thousand sunny:
The Crew seemed to have awakened from their winter slumber. The winter falls has sprung into deep action. After so long, when I looked up at the skies it seemed as if they were breaking free and opening for an unknown world, the waves thrashing, the thousand sunny quaking over the ocean sea.
The sun shines down on me and gives me light but there is nothing that fills my soul with joy. The wind flaps my coat like some form of rejection, ruffling the material, scratching the skin underneath before changing thoughts to the potential iceberg issues up ahead.
The iceberg that sunk the mighty ship and killed all aboard with such fright. With a shudder I am reminded that in just a matter of hours I will be going out on this same water filled vessel. In another matter of hours the boat will recreate the scene from a popular history book I had been lended from my childhood years.
The very scenario that caused many sailors to kill themselves rather than endure what came next. But how can one forget the sound of an iceberg snapping a ship apart? This very day I will find myself sailing past the massive snow-white giants with its menacing cold dark ocean floor looking for land.
For miles upon miles upon miles the ice builds to perfection and then shattering when you get too close to the surface. My journey will not be an easy voyage either, it will require skill and strength that only certain people are qualified for. The next island, it shall be a challenge we all must face even if it spits the reckoning death on ourself.
It is a trek of endurance that one must always learn, not an overnight ride that seems simple enough. But is does take time, time is something no one has much of anymore. Not those who dwell on the island and still hunt down whatever they can find, remembering what fellow folks had said back in Wano. Thinking back at the major flame incident, I lift up my coat slightly to reveal a rational burn mark that's been carefully examined and treated for.
People forget things once they leave it behind.
Perhaps we should learn from that. I never knew such rules existed in the beginning of my life. Never heard such words spoken, nor seen any for myself.
Though,  One could always think for themselves and do things however they wished. People would say different things but then again you did what you thought was right, being you.
Looking out at the horizon I am able to look far away beyond my sight but upon noticing an island, turning back to the fellow members, noticing them shouting commands at one at each other as I stood gripping the rails. Our progress shall become slower than what they were hoping for but nonetheless, We Are headed towards a new beginning...The beginning of another adventure...I guess...for us all.
"Furl the Sails! The wind is too strong!" Jinbe demands, looking off at the navigator whom seems to be complaining. "Are we close to making land, Nami?"
"Brr! It feels like we've entered an Islands Climate zone!...I guess the next island is a winter Island!" Nami shouts, shivering away from the cold, replying to the Fishman.
But her voice was almost unheard, yet again we failed to reach the next destination as soon as planned. Was it a fate of man made or naturally formed? Why do we lose so often on our journeys through life.
The waves crash on, farrowing faster then before.
It seems as though it will rip off anything that isn't fastened or tied down.
We're tired, drained and cold. As the sun has risen ever higher it takes more work to maintain a balance.
Tiredness overtakes us all and makes us lazier than ever, huddling together to keep warm. We hold on tightly while resting within our dreams. The thought of our purpose fades.
What exactly are we doing here? The moments before our captain shouts,
"Hey Nami! What in the world is that?!" His voice piercing the sky, pointing out to the strange enormous ball forming in the sky ahead.
peering over the edge with a gasp.
Standing up in front of me stands an imposing enormous ball form.
It was frighteningly big, looming larger than the buildings I had known back home. It would look like an ancient artifact compared to what we've known since. As I take a closer look, I notice that the surface of the ball is covered in intricate patterns and designs, almost like a map of some kind. I can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder as I gaze upon this mysterious object.
Without warning, the ball begins to glow with a bright, pulsating light, causing me to shield my eyes.
"What are you... HUH?! AN EDDY CURRENT?!..BUT ITS GOING UPWARDS?"
"Yohoho! It looks like an Afro!" Brook exclaims, staring at the huge rounded ball, pointing to the current and then towards his hair.
"A rapid temperature change is dangerous! We got to run, Jinbe! We'll be swallowed up!" Nami shouts loudly, gaining the attention of everyone.
"Leave it to me!" Jinbe clamou knows they has a long way to go, they cannot afford any delays as there might not be time to make it back.
But while some leave quickly, others linger. A little ways away from them, some watching in despair, longing for their friends but knowing they can't do nothing.
"Wait! Someone's in the water!" The captain, who are leaving notices, pointing at the sea which is churning violently due to strong winds and currents.
A distant call echoes across the waves, a lady shouting for help.
"No..he's right! I can hear a lady in distress!" Sanji shouts, looking at the navigator, practically begging to turn the ship around.
"I'll cut it." Zoro blankly says, gripping onto one of his katanas, glaring at the current ahead.
He nods once, holding out the katana, its sharp blade gleaming in the light.
Sanji eyes him nervously, sensing that something's wrong but he had no idea what. Shouting, "You'd better not leave a scratch on the lady!"
Zoro glares at the Love Cook, "Do you trust me?" flashing a devilish grin, before he runs towards the current.
"Bird Dance!" Zoro yells out, cutting the current in halves, grabbing the lady.
However, before he could throw her onto the deck, she clung to the opposite edge, and was pulling herself back into the sea, clearly determined to keep her distance from Zoro due to the forceful grabbing.
Zoro yelps, anger bursting inside of him, glaring at the woman.
She continues pulling herself back, but with only five meters separating them now. It's close, so very close! So very dangerous! But...but, it could also end well. With a hard pull, Zoro managed to grab her shoulder, pulling her onto the ship.
With Sanji rushing forward, Zoro grabbed hold of her other arm, pushing her towards the cook. In disbelief Sanji shouts, "What the hell is going on?! Glaring at the Swordsman, noticing how he shoved the lady right before his eyes.
Whistling over, gaining their attention. I shout, "It's not the time for fighting you know?! I mean..Luffy and Chopper were just flown away!" Frustratingly pointing to the two in the air, wailing.

Amos Fuller - Earning a Living
Amos Fuller is my 2nd great-grandfather (Ahnentafel #26).  He  was born in Alabama between 1847 and 1850 of Alabama parentage.
The earliest record found for Amos Fuller is the 1870 U. S. Census. He is listed as “Ames” Fuller, a twenty-three year old black male, born in Alabama. His occupation is given as “St.Bt.L???.[1] This abbreviation at first glance is rather cryptic. Ancestry transcribed the occupation as “St Bt Land”. Additional research on Amos’ occupations suggest that “St. Bt.” stands for steam boat.
I was able to trace Amos consistently through the Mobile City directories.  He first appears in the directory in 1877 with the occupation of “laborer”.  Amos is also classified as a laborer in the 1879 and 1880 directories. [2] The 1880 U. S. Census gives Amos Fuller’s occupation as stevedore. This is a dock worker who loads and unloads ships in port.[3]
In the 1884 Mobile City directory, Amos Fuller is listed as a steamboat hand.[4] This means that he was employed by a steamboat as part of the crew. Deckhands made up the bulk of the crew. Most of the deckhands were immigrants and freedmen. Their job was to load and unload cargo transported on the steamboat. Deckhands worked almost 24/7, bunked with the cargo and were paid low wages.[5]
Amos Fuller had a change of occupation as noted in the 1885-1886 and 1887 Mobile City directories. He is listed as “fireman Mobile ice Factory.”[6] Contrary to our popular image of a fireman, Amos was not putting out fires, he was stoking up fires. A fireman’s job was to shovel coal or wood into a boiler to keep it running.[7] Ice factories of the late 1880s used steam engine powered pumps which were integral in the process of making ice.[8]
For the next several years, Amos Fuller was listed in the Mobile City directories as a laborer.
In the 1894 Mobile City directory Amos was listed with the occupation of “fireman stbt D. L. Tally.”[9]   Steamboat firemen reported to the engineer.  The fireman’s job was to stoke the boiler to keep the steam engine running. They shoveled coal all day, hour after hour.  Not only was this a strenuous job, it was also dangerous. If a boiler exploded the fireman would be the first to die. [10]
The steamer D. L. Tally was a packet boat based in Mobile, Alabama. It traveled the Alabama River carrying freight, mail and passengers.

In the 1900 Mobile City Directory, Amos had the following listing: “Fuller Amos, c, stbtmn, res 252 Lipscomb.”[11] This was the last time his occupation was specified as a steamboat man.
Amos Fuller died on 4 September 1909 of pulmonary tuberculosis.[12] One wonders if his exposure to coal dust had any relationship to the tuberculosis.

Peyton Place: The Novel That Shocked America
Tumblr media
First appearing in 1956, Grace Metalious' Peyton Place blew the lid off the hypocritical conformity of small-town, postwar America. Considered the nation’s first “blockbuster” book, the novel both shocked and secretly delighted readers with its portrayal of sex, secrets, scandal, and even adultery, incest, and abortion. Selling 100,000 copies in its first month and at least 12 million more later, the book was so popular that it entered The New York Times Best Seller list a week before it was published. It inspired a film adaptation nominated for nine Oscars and network television’s first primetime soap, which once drew 60 million viewers three nights a week and helped launch the careers of Mia Farrow and Ryan O’Neal. (x)
Peyton Place was oddly familiar and yet jarringly strange not only because the novel shocked but also because in the minds of many readers the distinction between the imaginary realm of fiction and the reality of their lives was surprisingly effaced—a reality at best vaguely articulated and at times described as quite “unreal,” there being no words to express certain experiences, and thus no way to mark them off as such. Reading Peyton Place provoked an uncanny recognition, a glimpse into a somewhat frightening realm readers knew existed but could express in only a vague, inarticulate way, a taboo landscape, out of the public eye, that spoke to the silent fears and ambiguous emotions fans struggled to describe. Almost always, their stories begin with subterfuge:
“It was the kind of book mothers would hide under the bed,” a professor of English recalled.
“It was the first time I remember hiding anything from my husband. I kept it in the ice box, behind his beer.”
“I kept it hidden in the basement and used to sneak down there to read it.”
“I always carried it inside a brown paper wrapper. But that became pretty obvious, so my girlfriend and I slipped the dust jacket of Gone With the Wind—they were about the same size—over Peyton Place. But we still got yelled at—my teacher hated Gone With the Wind.”
“I kept it under the mattress. It was the only place close to me at night.”
“Oh, I had this big sock I’d use at Christmas. I’d shove Peyton Place down its long leg when my mother came in to say good night. It looked like a snake had eaten it.”
“In the toilet tank. We had one of those old-fashioned water closets, you know. The top had a little shelf where I hid stuff. Peyton Place sat there next to my Playboy magazines.”
“Under my pillow.”
“In a bag. A very deep bag.”
“Way up on the top shelf. My husband was short so he never much looked up there.”
“Under the lower bunk beds in the dorm. The nuns found it anyway and gave us hell. Then they took it back to the convent. We know they read it ’cause the sister who did the cleaning told us she had found it open on a table and what a disgrace it was to see it there. And I think they knew that we knew ’cause nothing was ever said about it and my folks were never notified, which was totally surprising!”
Metalious’s biographer Emily Toth tells the story of Michael True who while stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, in the late 1950s, “could walk down the center aisle of any barracks and see forty men lying on their bunks, all still in army boots, reading the paperback version of Peyton Place.” (x)
