Genshin (crack) theory: So this one dude Afratu (the guy standing near the GIANT ruin guard waaaaay at the southern edge of the desert) says it used to be piloted by a Kharnri‘an called "The Schwanenritter“.

That’s German for "The Swan Knight“.

Mondstadt is (partially) based on Germany, most evident by names like "Der Himmel“ (the sky) for Venti‘s lyre or Mondstadt itself being German for "Moon City“ and wine as a placeholder for beer. What’s rather overlooked however, is it’s connection to fairy tales and the like. Be it the general aesthetics, the library, or most of the books you can collect in Mondstadt being basically fairy tales. One of which is about a certain someone named Fischl, Prinzessin der Verurteilung, whose title translates to "Princess of Damnation“.

She‘s the ruler of an elusive but grand kingdom, capable of doing glorious feats, traveling the universe, and her loyal knights of the Immernachtsreich (Eternal Night Kingdom) Kingdom are Ravens - black birds.

During the second summertime event, we have seen what that place looks like, not just on the overworld, but as part of her quest illusion world, where buildings lay sideways or even turned upside down as part of perspective puzzles. On the overworld, we instead deal with stories trying to look though deception and shine light on the liars.

Now tell me,

Yeah.

The Immernachtsreich is not only real, it’s Kharnri‘ah. They’re one and the same. That‘s why it’s called that- because the new sky is fake, and the truth is hidden in the stars. That’s why the event was full of geometry puzzles, because - just like Ventis statue- it’s all turned wrong. And that’s why, whenever a new BP season starts, story only ever talks about a corrupted princess, regardless of who we choose to play as. Because while it may be the beginning of our story, it was never that of our sibling. It’s of the Princess of Damnation.

Supposed ruler of a kingdom steeped in eternal night, an Abyss. Made to believe she has always been part of Teyvat because all the memories and proof of her true self were erased by the Akasha for a cause yet unknown, as we‘ve seen it‘s possible to tamper with the information of the very world, and is how our sibling most likely erased any trace of his connections to any world other than Teyvat. But unlike our sibling, her bond to the other worlds wasn’t changed. And that’s why she thinks she‘s only roleplaying, and not truly the heir. Heck, that’s why she somehow knows the Traveler isn’t from Teyvat either, why she has the Electro vision, or why her signature move causes her eye to shine in the form of The Star. Because in truth, it’s not roleplay at all.

In my mind there are two ways this could go:

1. They second reader is revered and such and everyone realizes their mistake, reader makes their lives living hells as payment. Shneznaya warms up, Natlan freezes over, Fontain goes into a drought, Sumeru is hit by a super harsh heat wave (and for extra hurt a bunch of stuff is set on fire/destroyed Library of Alexandria style), Inazuma is sucked up into ANOTHER super bad thunderstorm, Lyiue’s economy collapses and Mondstadt is hidden in another windstorm.

Or of course if you want angst:

2. When revered, they are a shell of their former self. Just a husk, or damn near someone in a vegetable state is sitting on the throne, completely unresponsive. It gets to a point where the acolytes have to do everything for them: bathe them, feed them, carry them places, so in and so forth. They barely even respond to those who didn’t hurt them. Only chance you got at them doing anything is letting monsters treat them (i.e. Churls, other abyss beasts, ruin guards, boss monsters, etc)

And for extra credit: They have scars from every single attack, so not even an inch of skin is uncovered of scars. Burns, electrical, ice burns and otherwise.

Okay so HONESTLY im gonna ramble about this idea i got from reading one of the genshin sagau posts about the creator and their books that are read are popping into tevyat BUT imagine if it were the movies we have watched (inspired from @sagaubeloved sorry for the ping if it bothers you 😭)

LIKE imagine if ur a horror movie fanatic, IMAGINE THE CHARACTER'S REACTION. Idk if u watch horror bcs u like it or u just like a good scare or two but imagine showing them a movie like maybe the nun 2 or fnaf or coraline or ANY HORROR MOVIES. Imagine if the people (scholars, maybe some theatrics enjoyers?) are horrified watching it "THE CREATOR WATCHES THIS?!" "Yeah i do-" They'd either get nightmares or became really paranoid cause horror movie end credits sometimes scares me like 'based on-' no. I think they'd be paranoid because it says based on real life or something. Especially if its coraline, HONESTLY I COULDNT SLEEP MUCH FOR A FEW DAYS BECAUSE OF THE SPIDER MOM OR WHATEVER OTHER MOM THAT IS 😭😭 buttons for eyes (no- not identity v-) or if its something like FNAF then they'd probably be paranoid 💀 (until they know its actually from a game that has like 13 versions with i think 8 being the ACTUAL part of the series and the rest being spin-offs)

The characters would be less horrified with this and go like "oh, this is the type of movie creator likes? I saw your post about the Alberich surname and was curious about kaeya being half tayvatian! Can you explain that for me please? I miss and forget a lot of details and stuff in game, but I do genuinely love genshin lore related to khaenriah and kaeya! I also flip flop between kaeya being full khaenrian and being half whatever just because his star eye doesn't seem to be as pronounced as dainsleif for example. At least in game. (always zooming into his face to try and see the pretty star lol) Like I've seen the hc of his mom being sumeran and I think that's super cute! It could explain his darker skin tone compared to dainsleif and pierro? Or like idk the star trait has been deluted after many generations? I think it would be better for me to come back to this after 3.5 that way I can confirm most of what I initially typed out, but heres a summary of what I've thought of

1. His name being the only one in the history of known Khaenri'ahns to originate from Hindu instead of Norse/Scandinavian

2. Due to the Hindu origin of the name, we can connect it to his constellation which is represented by a peacock- India's national bird as well as the representation for the Spantamad in the Akademiya.

3. Him being there for the 3.5 Archon quest in Sumeru as well as him getting a possible skin that is clearly half Sumeru and half Khaenri'ahn inspired

4. notes or letters from a member of the Alberich clan in Sumeru

Most known Khaenri'ahn characters have been pale-skinned (were unsure about Pierro due to dim lighting but even then, he and Kaeya might be related) with distinctly shaped four-pointed star pupils while Kaeya was designed differently (unsure if its because he's the first one released in-game, if its a diluted gene trait, or if it might be indicative that he is curseless)

6. Seemingly curseless or unnafected by the curse. Was even "blessed" by Celestia with a vision, which is already odd. He's still the only canonical Khaenriahn with one (clearly Celestia doesnt care whether you want a vision or not either)

-The Alberich clan must have been known for their strategic thinking, war knowledge, and mind games if they were able to rise as the leaders for Khaenri'ah during the war. If I were a Sumeru scholar, I'd tap that too lmao

-Kaeya's name meaning "Monsoon flower" is oddly tragic yet fitting. The monsoon flowers thrive in the rainy season. Kaeya thrives during the rain as well. His main growth points and tragedies in life have happened in the rain. If it rains during the 3.5 archon quest i will scream and cry please note this.

- oddly enough i am more of a believer of the "Kaeya being frozen in time for 500 years" theory. Its possible! Olaf Katzlein got frozen for 300 after all! Some old Sumeran must have immigrated to Khaenri'ah prior to the Catalycism and got the Alberich started. Alberich clan being the smartest family in Khaenri'ah maybe?? hmm...

-Majority of teyvat suspiciously dont know that Khaenri'ahns are the hilichurls and the abyss order which means this might be forgotten history...which is weird because if its a supposedly slow acting curse then even in future generations there should still be slow-turning Khaenri'ahns right? If they purposely stopped repopulating then how did Kaeya come to exist? Pierro getting funky with whom??????? He has only been beside the Tsaritsa for the past hundred years... OH MY GOD WAIT CRACK THEORY TIME- Kaeya being the Tsaritsa and Pierro's son which explains the white streaks in his hair. No? Ok I'll stop lmao...unless?? NAH JK THIS AINT IT...or is it... Cecilia who is only 8 years old and was created 8 years ago by Gold. So they’re not like Albedo who is a few hundred years old. Cecilia who is slightly different for Albedo and can grow and age to adulthood. Since Cecilia was created with chalk as a small baby.

Big brother Albedo who is willing to sacrifice his work for his little sibling - heck he is willing to sacrifice himself for his little sibling to be alive and happy. To grow up and experience life full of love and happiness.

I have never played Genshin before but my whale friend has been talking to me about the Jeht storyline! Jeht has a compelling storyline from what I’ve been told but apparently Jeht is an npc??? Which was shocking to me cuz…Jeht’s questline as of right now seems to be written for her to be playable one day??😮 (to me at least)

Like, many other gacha games would have a well written event/story that compels players to roll for them (Salieri FGO, Ebenholz Arknights, Liv: Empyrea PGR, Nehan GBF are the ones that I think of where the story emotionally moved me enough to try to obtain the story-centric characters)

Anyway! My point is that the Genshin writing team’s priorities are so…wack to say the least.

Oh yeah, for SURE. Jeht isn't even the only NPC that gets these extended storylines (longer and more developed than any playable character!) - there's Kazari from the Sakura Cleansing Storyline, or Rana and Arana from Aranyaka, or Ruu from the Thunderbird stuff, or I guess anyone from either of the Watatsumi questlines?

And it''s bonkers! Genshin's sales pitch for Keqing, one of two standard banner characters to get her own rate-up banner, was her showing up at the tail-end of the Liyue questline and immediately getting folded into the Traveller's Cheer Squad when they bought time for Ningguang to nuke Osial.

Cyno's personal story quest is about some other guy mourning his dead son, and Cyno is not the one that has an emotional connection to ANYTHING happening in that quest. Nilou's is about some Akademiyan girl and her father reconciling. Ayato's is about two randos wanting to get married. Eula's dumps her halfway through to focus on us dealing with her uncle? I don't know??

You do get the sense that Genshin is really, really not interested in their main playable cast - either that, or there are serious restrictions placed on which characters can be used for what. My pet theory as to why a large chunk of playable characters in Sumeru, Inazuma and Liyue are so distant from the plot is that the writers don't know everyone they'll be able to use. So in Sumeru, a writer might know they can definitely use Al-Haitham, Nahida and Scaramouche but don't know about anyone else, so they vaguely script the plot with "placeholder" characters they can slot into place once it comes time to finalise the draft.

That's why Cyno, Candace, Dehya, Nilou and Tighnari do shockingly little in the Sumeru questline when you actually stop to consider what it is they contribute that is unique to them, when compared to Al-Haitham. Why'd we gaslight some random NPC into betraying the Akademiya in part 2 instead of Cyno? Who knows? Did they know Cyno would be usable when they needed to script that part, did they know if his model would be ready?

But on the other hand, world quest writers can snag a pre-existing model, write whatever they want and do whatever they want. That's my best theory for the discrepancy! That might explain why Ganyu and Keqing did fuck all in the Liyue world quest...? Shrug???

Anyway, I've never really played a game with a story handled in such a batshit way as Genshin before. In so many ways.

HAHAHA I TOTALLY DIDN'T KEEL OVER BECAUSE OF SICKNESS, FINALS, AND GENERALLY JUST PERISHING LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT AT ALL anyway, so i'm currently deep in the brain rot (i have been the entire time gone, u think this shit goes away? no, no it doesn't, i live here now) and i was thinkin abt like, yk, how time works in Teyvat. cuz like me personally i didn't start playing till after Sumeru (and my acc is as old as Inazuma release but i didnt play cuz reasons), but every nation is updated like what, every year or so? so, therefore, at least in my opinion (and thus my h/c's b/c SUE ME) the traveler is in each nation for about a year. which means Lumi's in Mondstadt for a year after the Dvalin thing, doing generally good deeds and getting commissions and figuring out how Mora and stuff works (bc this IS a new world for her, girl doesn't know EVERYTHING yet) so there's a year of her helping out around Mondstadt, working w/ Kaeya and essentially doing team building b/c he's gonna be traveling w/ her when the Rite of Descension finally comes around, wringing Paimon for information on everything she can (girl is feral for info on Teyvat), all that jazz. which makes sense; the Traveler comes to be Very Well Known TM and while fighting a dragon is cool i doubt that's the ONLY reason she gets to be well known, right?

anyway, this massive prelude is just me yapping abt how they totally go to Dragonspine nearer the end of the year to do stuff. and the only reason they CAN go to Dragonspine is b/c they meet Bennett (who Lumi immediately wants to adopt b/c HE'S A BABY), and Benny offers to take 'em up there. :) so,,, i like to imagine that when they're up in Dragonspine, doing everything that has to do w/ that place, a silly thing happens where Lumi and Kaeya kinda get separated from Bennett and like,,, trapped in a place and almost get murdered by a Frostarm Lawlachurl (i have horrible trauma w/ that one fucker by the goddamn crimson tree. he may be dead but i will never forget the fear). anyway, so Kaeya literally almost dies, and it culminates w/ Lumi almost dying to sheer cold to get him to a waypoint, and then her refusing to leave him while he's getting patched up b/c uh oh abandonment issues! (dw abt Bennett and Paimon btw, they made it back to Mondstadt to try and get help; tho tbf that was also an arduous journey in of itself)

now, u must be asking; why did i come up w/ this idea?

b/c it was the best way to express the general Dragonspine experience, and also bc i CAN. totally didn't also write a love confession afterwards, no not at all, i'm not a psychopath

after this, Lumi never goes to Dragonspine w/o AT LEAST 15 warming bottles. and after she finds out abt portable waypoints, u know for a FACT she carries 5 on her at All Times. also Kaeya would never admit it but he gets a little stressed around Frostarm Lawlachurls now.

anyway i WILL Return TM w/ the silly goofy Liyue chapter (at least everything i can FUCKIN REMEMBER BRO (tho i DID take notes when my friend redid it so!! :)c))
