i think the funniest thing about Genshin is how the storyline completely fucks you over.
the beginning is pretty straightforward, honestly: you and your sibling were traveling to this world and had a fight with a god that you lost. you crash landed and ended up in a coma. woke up, your sibling is missing, and you go off to talk to different god and try and find your sibling.
if you pay even mild attention to the storyline and fast-forward a couple adventures,
there's some primordial god fucking with you, none of the gods you've met are actually really gods technically, there's been like 5 different civilizational genocides in the past 500 years that nobody seems particularly concerned about, your sibling is and isn't your sibling and is also maybe evil? (unclear), the world may be in a time loop, NPCs die every other world quest, the key to all your questions is a nation that got completely smited and cursed 500 years ago, and your most helpful kind-of ally is the guy that shows up once a year, cryptically trauma dumps some lore, and then fucks off again.
welcome to genshin impact.

Listen. I'm a very firm believer in the law of goth and punk that under every set of knee/thigh high stomper boots there is a pair of clinically adorable socks (usually in pink) and the fact that Wriothesley has both a)a daughter who puts stickers on his shit and b) a husband that is scary protective of said daughter means that man's sock drawer must be full of Sanrio brand/the Tayvat equivalent of hello kitty socks. In this logic, I would like to propose that keroppi the frog is his favorite (based purely off vibes and frog = gay, I can be persuaded otherwise) but he won't say that to Sigewinne (or Neuvillette by extinction) for fear of quite literally drowning in stickers of the character

Stream theory! time:
I am here to write my thoughts about the Neuvillette part of the stream/trailer, feel free to share yours too!
Tumblr media
"The Melusines can't be trusted! That goes for Neuvillette too!"
So, first I have to say I'm heartbroken to hear that the Melusines and Neuvillette can't be trusted, but idc idc i trust them no matter what. And the Melusines saying: "I'm confident that we'll find the meaning of our existence one day" truly broke my heart.
To keep going with the Neuvillette angst we have The Chief of Justice himself saying: "I find it difficult to express my emotions, because I cannot fully understand myself" The struggle to deal with accusations from your own people that they don't trust you while being unable to show them how you really feel... and to add to that whatever rumours saying that u were born from calamity?? I'm so confused and sooo hyped to get the full lore.
'is this what justice means to u? answer me neuvillette!'
First, let me point out THE VOICE ACTING FOR THIS LINE IS CHEF KISS. It sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it. And every time I hear it I'm thinking, what verdict did Neuvillette come to for Wrio to deliver such a powerful line? Maybe it's about Lyney and Lynette? Because we hear Freminet asking Wrio about his siblings and I'm thinking that maybe Wrio goes and demands an explanation from Neuvillette?
"You will see much in the human world, from the delightful to the depressing and one day, when you have dwelt among humanity long enough, you will be placed to bring judgement over all, as the spokesperson for Fontaine's past"
Can't move on from this line without pointing out the informal addressing here. No Monsieur or anything. Straight up Neuvillette. I'm curious to see how close the characters are and why does Wrio sounds so hurt/betrayed.
edit: a lot of people told me the voice line is from an npc but im too tired to delete everything👍
THIS??? raised so many questions in my head it's crazy. it's unnecessary. The hold this last line has on me is absurd. I think it's directly addressed to Neuvillette and I'm curious why is he the one bringing judgement over all? why is he the one shown all alone in a grey and dull Fontaine?why not Furina? What does "spokesperson for Fontaine's past" suppose to mean??Like we already speculated about him being the Hydro Dragon, but this is *sniff* i smell GREAT storyline.
Genshin is about to drop heeeeavy lore and I'm here for it.
"its unnecessary to hold me in such high regard"
Last line in the trailer. Neuvillette said this right after being shown as one of the most powerful people in the whole nation really. He is either really modest or just tries to hide the fact that he's the most powerful in the nation. Or both. Honestly I'm not even sure of what to say about this, I just had to add it here because Neuvillette said it and I'm in whoo for him.
Him🤝Zhongli , fancy talking and acting like they don't have supreme power.
Last thought: this trailer was so powerful and sad over all. I'm expecting the archon quest to be an emotional rollercoaster with one or two emotional punches. I just know Neuvillette story will make me sob. Just look at him.
Tumblr media
p.s. : I saw someone pointing out that the creators said that Neuvillette made a law so that the Melusines to be addressed as she/her and that fills my heart with joy. Neuvillette is shown to be oh so powerful and 'born from calamity' or whatever and yet he's one of the sweetest and kindest characters. 🫶🏼
Tumblr media
Conclusion: i love neuvillette and idc about false accusations 😊🫶🏼

Posting in this blog after an eternity because I feel like I'm going insane here and my friends are asleep so I need to dump my brainstorm SOMEWHERE (SPOILERS FOR ARLECCHINO'S BACKSTORY/SHORT ANIMATION!!)
The TLDR is basically I think that the whole story with Arlecchino and Clervie is foreshadowing for whatever is about to happen with Lyney and Lynette
I think the parallels between Lyney and Arle don't need to be too explained for the most part. Pyro Visions, Arle wants him to be the next "king" while he doesn't seem to be too into that idea just like her younger self didn't want it, both are associated with Rainbow Roses (they both use them as ascension materials)
Plus, I'd argue they look kinda similar here. I'm not sure exactly what is that makes the resemblance, maybe a bit of the hair, bowtie and shorts and you could say it's something she has with the others too (her kid design resembles Freminet, current one Lynette) but I thought it was good to mention anyways
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Lynette and Clervie are the two closest companions to their respective pair
Lynette's has Lumidouce Bells as an ascension material. Clervie is very clearly represented with the same flower (if her necklace wasn't enough, there's this)
Tumblr media
Plus, a bit of a smaller connection, but they both have clear sweet tooths
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Lyney saying "we talked about this" implies this is a frequent event. The animation showing Clervie with cake twice while it only had 7 minutes to tell the whole story has a similar effect)
So, if Lyney is a parallel to Arle while Lynette is a parallel to Clervie, where does this leave us?
Well... Not exactly in a good spot-
Tumblr media
To be fair, I don't think Genshin would actually kill a playable character (or at least, so I hope), but it's very possible Lynette gets really hurt, either directly by Lyney or by being close to him
Arlecchino swore to be nothing like her mother, but in the end, the way she's acting towards Lyney by wanting to make him the next king may be very similar to it
Once upon a story quest, Lyney said similar words to a woman who claimed he'd end up all alone. I can only pray that the writers will have mercy at my soul and that they wouldn't go that low with a playable character
If I were to make a mildly self indulgent guess, as the Freminet main I am, I'd say that he may be the key that's going to make things turn out different for the twins. His presence is the biggest difference between the twins vs Arle and Clervie, who seemed to have no one else that was even mildly close to them. From the 4.6 trailer we know that he's the one that has been hiding stuff and we do see him blocking out Arle's attack, so I don't think it's a stretch to say he'll have a really important role in this whole thing
So yeah! If you read all my rambling, thanks I guess, hope you enjoyed it. In the end, all I can hope is that the Fontaine siblings all turn out fine for the sake of my own mental wellness because God knows these 3 stay all day spinning in my head as if it was a microwave
Also, for the record: No, I don't have a clue about what the hell is going on with Freminet apparently finding "Clervie" (ghost?? Illusion??) and hiding her from Arle. Until this short my best shot was that she was some sort of mermaid creature, but that idea is out the window so it could be anything really

Project "Stuzha"
In the 4.6 version trailer, "Two Worlds Aflame, the Crimson Night Fades," we get a little section where we hear Childe's voice where he mentions being put on pressure on by the old men for a project and arlecchino asks "Project Stuzha?".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What does stuzha mean? Well stuzha means cold
Tumblr media
And this I don't believe this is the first time we have heard of this project either in "Collected Miscellany - "Childe: Foul Legacy"", towards the end of the video we get these lines from Dainselif
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have any sort of theories about this right now. I'll have to look into this more, but I can definitely say that this project heavily involves Childe in it seeing how he's mentioned in it to be needed and how this project was first mentioned in his trailer.
Edit: I added more information and connections in the reblog!

So now more than ever, I have to ask: what is a Gnosis? What does it actually do? How is it different from the 'Throne' that Focalors destroyed? Did destroying the Throne make it a useless hunk of matter, or does it still retain elemental abilities? Why is it so important that the Tsaritsa needs all seven, but so insignificant that the only person who didn't willingly give it away was Venti? Like legitimately, the Traveler seems to care more about protecting the Gnoses than the people who actually had the Gnoses.
Yeah, we know it's crafted from the remains of the Third Descender's body now, and that Descenders seem to resonate with all elements equally (or at least half of them did), but why did Celestia create the Gnoses, for what purpose?
We know a Gnosis can be used to power machinery or programs, from how the Dendro Gnosis was used to power the Akasha Terminal and later the Shouki no Kami. We know that Gnoses can be used to manipulate elemental energy, from how Nahida was able to use both the Dendro and Electo Gnoses in tandem. We know that Gnoses can convey a strong sense of emotion, from how seeing Scaramouche crying in his sleep convinced Ei he was too fragile to carry the Gnosis.
Early on, it was theorized that having a Gnosis gave someone a massive boost in elemental power, or made them an Archon rather than a God...but Ei gave her Gnosis to Yae years and years ago, because she apparently saw no use in keeping it herself. So, maybe so long as she had the Divine Throne, Ei was an Archon and it didn't matter if she had the Gnosis. And since she placed a whole thunderstorm around her kingdom for a full year, clearly not having it didn't handicap her powers that much. Maybe she's a little weaker, but from a human perspective the loss in strength is borderline meaningless.
So like?? What?? Is the significance of the Gnosis...????? Is it just like a participation trophy??? Does the Tsaritsa just REALLY need some replacement chess pieces after Tartaglia ate all of one color????? 'I participated in the Archon War and all I got is this lousy chess piece'.

Small spoilers for Fontaine Archon quest/4.2 update
///
Looking back, outside of maybe Venti, all of the Archons have been « freed » during the Quests: Zhongli is free from his duty, Ei is free from her self-imposed eternity, Nahida is literally free from her prison (and more metaphorically her self-doubt), and Furina is free from her « godhood » (or her performance however you want to see it).
I am not sure what Venti could be free from but being the embodiment of freedom i do believe his relationship with everything that happened is much more complexe than presented.
There is two main things that created and reflect that freedom: meeting Traveller and losing the Gnosis. I have a feeling that they are free because by giving away the Gnosis (for most) they are freeing themselves from the Heavenly Principles.
Actually Venti is the only one where the Gnosis was taken by force (i do think he allowed for it to be stolen). I don’t know what this means but if someone has ideas i’d love to hear them.

I just finished the 4.2 Archon Quest and i can't help but continue to be suspicious of Zhongli for being the only version of him to ever exists in Teyvat.
There are the nameless Bard and Venti.
There are Makoto and Ei.
There are Rukkhadevata and Nahida.
and now Focalors and Furina.
Every Archon has some kind of Double or Doppelganger, or simply a Mirrorself - someone who LOOKS and acts like the first or tries to live the former dreams, goals and ideals. They aren't the only one with their face, there were at some point two of them in Teyvat (As if they were twins, but only one remained...well, in case of makoto and ei that's literally what happend but you get it) There already once was someobody conscious with the Face the current Archon wears.
Except for Zhongli. He is the only one with a face that belongs just to him. There is no counterpart or mirror, no friend or sibling, he didnt split himself into two, his face is unique and yet he is also the only one who keeps it hidden in every cutscene...

The fact that Neuvillette has consistently been put in a villain pose for every Fontaine version is hilarious and a bit suspicious to me.

Gross oversimplification of how Furina & Focalors split works
The hydro archon - Furina + Focalors, one being
Furina, separated - body and spirit of the hydro archon
Focalors, separated - divinity of the hydro archon
Now, imagine that you’re Furina, while Focalors is some aspect of yourself - like your ability to play the piano. This aspect breaks away from you, taking all the memories connected to it - you learning how to play, people you knew in music school, crying over homework, everything. After that, it becomes a formless entity that haunts a piano in your living room, and plays it from the inside, directly on the strings.
Despite this entity being separate, it’s still you, because it’s you that learned the piano, it’s your skills, memories, emotions. This aspect of yourself is incomplete without the rest of you, and you’re incomplete with a chunk of your life missing, but it’s okay because you can still move on without knowing how to play the piano.
Genshin goes out of its way to state that Furina and Focalors are one in the same several times. Focalors is not a clone, sister, mother - she doesn’t even have a body. Focalors is Furina’s allegorical ability to play the piano, she’s the act of “Furina being a god” itself.
