Ask-Call: Dirthamen's visions

I really wanna roleplay this muse again, but I don't have the time and focus for long threads at the moment. So, I came up with this idea instead:

Your muse gets sent a vision by the God of Wisdom, Secrets and Scholarly Pursuits Dirthamen, the dying star, the twin soul of Death himself.

Maybe, they had a little too much to drink that night, or maybe exhaustion of their trying day past finally caught up to them. Either way, your muse falls into a slumber so deep, not even loud noises around them, could wake them.

As soon, as they fall asleep, their consciousness gets caught in a dream, like a dry leaf getting picked up by a gust of wind, tumbling this way and that, until eventually they come upon a fork in a road. The path towards the left leads into foggy unknown and the path towards the right leads into vague mysteriousness and the path behind is long forgotten.

In the middle of that fork stands a tree, tall, thick and gnarly. It might have been a blossoming cherry-tree once, but no leaves, nor blossoms adorned the dark branches now. Branches, amongst which two ravens sit: One black with angry red eyes and one white with alert blue eyes. At the foot of the tree sits a man; an elf dressed in shimmering silks of midnight blue and dusk purple. He seems tall and willowy, his face handsome in an ageless way. Yet his eyes seem to look at you from a life that can only be measured in centuries.

"It's been so long, since last someone came to me in this way. I thought, the rites had long since been forgotten.... Very well then. Since, you find me in a curious mood, you may ask me. You have one question, da'len. So better make it worthwhile."

15. Are there any horror or angst tropes you really can’t stand?

I’m sure there are more, but at the moment I keep thinking of the trope where like the beautiful girl taming/calming the supernatural “monster” that their partner turned into, usually by force of will or some “power of love” cheese.

Don’t get me wrong, I like me some cheese, but it feels like lazy writing when it’s already been established that their partner is out of control, not themselves in this form, unable to recognize people, etc. It just creates inconsistencies in the world-building. Like, unless there is some setup to them training to have more control or special circumstances under which they may have more awareness, there’s really no reason why they wouldn’t tear the girl apart just like they would anyone else.

What is on your wishlist?

Thread-wise: I'd like to write with some lesser RPed characters like Angeal and Genesis. I would also really love to see some of my old RP partners come back, such as @greenhorn-turk and @churchflower and @burdenofhonour-blog. Sob, sob. Maybe if I tag them, they'll come back. Otherwise: I'd like to play the remake someday. >_> My latest playstation is a PS3, unfortunately, and I've heard the PC port isn't very good. Besides, I just don't have $70 to drop on a game. I need a new washing machine, dang it. I was going to share my Steam wishlist as a joke, but I apparently made it friends only, and I'm too lazy to fix that, so imagine a wishlist full of the best games you've ever heard of.

👃 does your oc smell good? do they have a signature scent?

oh, daniel smells amazing. apart from the oils he uses in his beard and mustache, he seems to carry a natural scent of warm mahogany, burnt tobacco, wood fires, and appaloosa plains dirt. he smells like an old and homey barn, abandoned for years but still full of hay and sweet memories. he smells like the rich burn of a cigar in a smoky saloon, very earthy and dark. there's a little spritz of cologne here and there, a faint scent of sandalwood, flannel if you sus it out. he smells like something you want to bury your face in and never leave.

💞 do they treat sex casually or do they view it as something with a lot of emotional weight?

a BRILLIANT question, and it will definitely pertain to the challenge! daniel is not a very sexual guy (hence his fluster at being turned on by rune while very, very cross-faded) and while he is aware of his natural dominance and the ways in which he's very physical, he actually puts a lot of weight and importance into sex and isn't a very horny person in public. (at least... while not in a relationship ;p) growing up as he did, he would have been absolutely murdered is his father ever learned about his sexuality - so that lead to years and years of denial, compulsive heterosexuality, and a general disdain for his sexual self.

daniel feels very vulnerable during sex, even when he's in a dominant position. (he is a switch!) the aspects of his history with his sexuality come into this, naturally, but there's also the reality that what he likes to do and have done to him is very personal!! he doesn't have one-night stands, he doesn't go out on dates - he lives in a big ranch with his three dogs and his horses man!! this dude is simultaneously uninterested and pent tf up.

but daniel will not have sex with anyone before they have a real, tangible connection. he is loyal and develops deep attachments to the people he's had sex with. and, in the biggest switch-up i can think of in this challenge, he will not be having sex with both of our finalists, either! he is either going to be a wedding night man, or i'll leave it dubious as to who got dan into bed on their final nights! how could he possibly look his finalist in the eye when he's boned their competition??? that's just not how he rolls.

(which also means, my dear friends, that daniel will not be kissing anyone in front of the other contestants. he's going to have a hard time with this once we get up there and our number of sims drop, but he's committed to it! the first kisses we'll ever see will be on solo dates alone~)

dainsleif: what theory do you have about the lore and the archon’s involvement with the destruction of khaenri'ah?

Ooo okay so I currently have some theories:

Paimon is mini version of the god from the beginning. She used up all her strength sending them across time and made herself small and lost her memories, like we've seen with Guoba and now Nahida. I also think she may be the god of time.

The cataclysm is an event that happens whenever Celestia loses control over a nation that gets too ambitious and threatens order (approx. every 500yrs). I think Snezhnaya is next—and the Tsaritsa knows it. She's now openly rebelling against Celestia and is gathering the gnoses so she can do everything in her power to protect her people when the time of judgement comes. When we eventually get to Snezhnaya, I think we’ll be be put into a position of teaming up with our twin and defending Snezhnaya from suffering the same fate as Khaenri'ah.

The archons weren't really given any other option. Khaenri'ah had super advanced technology and weapons that their people simply could not match to defend themselves, and they were sustaining heavy losses (like Liyue's adepti). They could save their people and the entire world from further harm by destroying Khaenri'ah together in one big cataclysm or they could spare the kingdom of Khaenri'ah and just continue defending and risk losing everything. We also know that contracts played a role in this, so it's very possible they literally had no other option.

Are there characters you wish you could write?

Absolutely. I'm the kind of person to make a thousand RP blogs and then never use them. I'd really like to go back to my Aerith blog at some point, but for some reason, writing from her perspective is really difficult for me. Same thing with my Angeal blog. Maybe someday?

Any ships you won’t write?

For Zack specifically? I don't care for Zack/Angeal in most cases. The mentor/student romantic relationship is not really one I enjoy very much. It would have to be in some sort of AU where they're just colleagues, or long after Angeal no longer mentors Zack. Other than that, though, I'm pretty open to shipping Zack with just about anyone.

Pet peeves?

In RP specifically, it aggravates me a little when I find a blog for a character I'd really like to interact with and they don't have a rules page. I don't want to RP with someone who doesn't have a rules page because I don't know what they expect from me. Outside of RP, it annoys me that when my roommate does the dishes, she puts the silverware in the dish rack whichever way she pleases. So when I go to put it away, I have to turn half of them around. It doesn't annoy me enough to be the one who washes the dishes, though. :D
