Mahariel: There’s this larger-than-life portrait of Mahariel and Fen’Harel (the mabari, not the god) hanging in a hallway of the palace in Denerim, along with various other past heroes of the nation. There used to be a painting of the Hero of River Dane in that spot. It’s not a particularly accurate portrait, but flattering.

Lavellan saw it once, visiting the palace as part of a delegation from the Dalish settlement in the Hinterlands, trying to convince the king and queen to act. Great big painting of Mahariel hanging on their wall while the deal struck in Mahariel’s honor falls completely apart.

Nice painting, though.

Trevelyan:  The mark has this sort of acrid, burnt smell after closing a rift. Lyle doesn’t really mind it. Plenty of spellcasting leaves some kind of ozone scent in the air, this isn’t all that different. And it doesn’t last long.

The thing is though, sometimes he’ll wake up in the middle of the night and there’s that scent again, faint enough that he’s not sure if he’s not just imagining it, or if the mark’s been acting up in some way that he can’t see.

It used to be that when he had questions about the mark, he’d go bounce ideas off of Solas. But Solas isn’t here. And Dorian worries. Mostly he worries by burying himself in research, but that’s still a kind of worrying; he’s got enough things on his mind. This isn’t a problem. It’s just a little reminder of how little he knows.

It has just hit me that all my dragon age ocs have a different stance on mages Vs templars

Byron is totally anti circle and anti chantry and won't hesitate to kill a Templar on site and practice any form of magic if has assured confidence in it (which considering its him is everything)

Garrett is totally anti blood magic and believes in a possibility of an alternative coexistence of mages and templars with an openly expressed hatred of the way tevinter runs themselves (due to his romance with fenris which opened up his perspective of how neither system works)

Lyle is pro circle as he grew up conditioned by them and believes a self governed circle like in tevinter is the best for the south
