Roy Kent admitting that “all” he can think about when kissing Keeley is Jamie makes me feral.
Sometimes I can’t help but wonder if Roy is trying to fuck Jamie through Keeley.
Like a weird psycho-sexual hetero-acceptable way to fuck Jamie.
I don’t even have the thought fully fleshed out (and this is in no way meant to disparage Keeley, I adore her) but I can’t help but think about it more than is healthy

I’m adding to this because the apology is out.
The apology is absolutely a backtrack because of the loss of subscribers in such a short amount of time.
They are not genuinely remorseful and they are not genuine in their hurt at the fan’s disappointment.
They made this decision knowing full well there would be backlash (these are full grown intelligent educated men, there’s no way they didn’t anticipate hurt and backlash) and they thought that enough fans would stick around and subscribe that it wouldn’t matter.
They absolutely intended to fuck us over, they absolutely intended to call us poor and lame and unworthy of their amazing talents, and when they realized that it would lose them money they backtracked.
What they’re offering is essentially a Patreon, which they already had.
They are not genuine in this apology, and you do not have to forgive them.
Full stop.
If you choose to continue watching and supporting that’s entirely your choice.
I however won’t be doing it.
And if you think I’m just being bitter I’d advise you to understand that the only response we got over the weekend, in fact the first response, was Sara (Shane’s wife) doubling down and insisting that if we’re upset it’s because we hate paying artists.
So no I won’t be watching or supporting a channel that was already on the heavy decline to line the pockets of people who were in no way struggling, just simply bad at managing their business.
I wasn’t going to comment on the @wearewatcher situation because if people don’t know how to run a business/listen to their very supportive fan base, then that’s their cross to bear.
However, to everyone making the comments that artists can charge what they want and deserve to be fairly compensated for their work
1) they’re being fairly compensated, they simply expanded their business model (ie hiring more people) before their revenue could support it and are now acting as though their business was never generating enough and it’s the fans fault for not subscribing to a Patreon that they had almost zero advertising for
2) art is a luxury. Period. Full stop. No one needs Watcher content to survive, especially in the current economic climate and to act as though they’re doing us a favor by making it only $6 a month is really tone deaf and out of touch
3) you can set your prices at whatever you feel is fair. And the consumer can decide if they think your content is worth the set price. If they say, hey I’m not paying $6 for this, then that’s all there is. Art is worth what someone will pay for it
4) the fundamental misunderstanding of what their fan base is wanting/cares about just goes to show that it was never about fostering a community, it was only ever about doing what they wanted, and if the community turns on them, then that’s something they should have been able to anticipate
5) we don’t know these people. They’re grown men, no one is being held hostage. No one is being forced. They all agreed to do this, and if it tanks their careers. Well, that’s the price of doing business
I for one will not be supporting this move, and will not be consuming the content left on YouTube as it will still generate them revenue
You can do what feels right to you

Roy loves to hold hands
Absolutely adores it
It makes him feel close to his partner, let’s him feel connected and soothes his protective instincts when out amongst crowds.
It’s not about whether his partner needs that protection, Roy just needs to provide it and being allowed to hold their hand lets him keep them close and move them when necessary.
Keeley had understood intrinsically what his holding his hand out meant, they hadn’t even needed a conversation about it, she’d just taken his hand or his arm, or both, and stayed close.
He has to chase Jamie anywhere they go
Not just because of his knee, but because Jamie is a butterfly. Socially and in his flitting rapid movements as his mind leaps from one thought to another
Amsterdam had given him a taste, but they’d just been friends then, and barely at that, now, as boyfriends, (they’re keeping it quiet for now, though all the important people know) he’s chasing Jamie so much he debates getting him a leash for outside the bedroom
He can recognize that holding hands in public isn’t keeping anything quiet, but he longs for the feeling of Jamie’s fingers slotted with his, the warmth of his body against his side as they walk and Jamie chatters about whatever that days hyperfixation is.
So he starts holding his hand out. Quietly, never remarking on it, or demanding anything, just waiting to see what Jamie will do.
It takes a few days before Jamie starts handing him things, a flower, his ticket for the movie, and on one memorable occasion a wad of cash to pay for dinner
They’d genuinely fought about that one, Roy is a provider at heart, and he always pays. Always.
Then slowly, carefully, Jamie starts to inch closer when they’re out.
Lingers at Roy’s side a little longer, and then a little longer than that.
He naturally moves to the interior side of the sidewalk now, let’s Roy open doors, pull out chairs, and Roy just steadily holds out his hand, waiting.
Jamie brushes their pinkies together, links them for a moment that nearly stops Roy’s heart before he’s distracted by a window display and then off rambling about a topic Roy didn’t catch, feeling like all his blood rushed to that one finger.
Jamie is never shy when they’re alone, or amongst the team, but out in public, out amongst strangers, he’s skittish.
Roy understands and it’s still infuriating, he’s not as chill about keeping their relationship “quiet” as he once thought
He’s proud of Jamie, that’s his lad, and he wants people to know that they’re together, that Jamie is not in fact up for a quick tumble, and will never be again.
(That ring in his sock drawer feels like a physical weight sometimes, but it’s too soon, he’s going to do this right)
But he’s trying not to pressure, not to move on his own timeline and run over Jamie’s.
So he just holds out his hand and (not so) patiently waits.
It’s after a match, they’d been nearly beaten off the field, pulled a win by the skin of their teeth and they’re all stiff and exhausted as they make their way home.
The crowds are still thick, Jamie still had his muddy kit on, got caught up with Beard and Rojas and just laughingly said he’d shower at home.
Roy is a few steps ahead of him, even though they’re going to the same place, and on a whim holds his hand out behind him.
Jamie locks onto his hand like Mjolnir to Thor, and their fingers lock together with an almost audible click, Roy’s heart nearly leaps from his chest, and Jamie uses the leverage to pull himself to Roy’s side, holding his hand and leaning into him, sweaty and muddy and grinning, and Roy can see the flashes of cameras and the click of phones and he can’t care, because Jamie is holding his hand and grinning up at him like he set the sun, and Roy is absolutely going to break out the bedroom leash when they get home.
Maybe even that ring in his drawer.

Roy Kent is prickly. He can’t help it. He also doesn’t want him to behave the way he’s behaving, he’s working on it, but it’s a complicated process learning that he’s worthy of more than breaking his body down to play a game.
He hates the healing process, he’s never been good at being vulnerable and it feels like a personal attack every time he has to be. He resents it. It infuriates him, and he doesn’t want to do it.
But he does want to hold Jamie’s hand and kiss his forehead and make him smile.
And he wants to be able to support Keeley and show up for her how she needs without bending himself unnaturally in the process.
He wants to keep his friendship with Ted and Beard, and god help him Trent.
He wants to be able to stand solid and strong for his team. To care for them and help them grow
To be able to support Colin if he ever chooses to come out officially even as he won’t be the first, not anymore, (Jamie isn’t subtle and it turns out neither’s Roy, but honestly getting outed because he couldn’t resist slipping a hand down Jamie’s pants at a benefit is a little embarrassing)
He wants to just be calm and happy and content without the constant nagging voice in the back of his head that says he’s not doing enough to keep the people in his life close, that he’s a ticking time bomb of needy, clingy, desperation and the only way to avoid people leaving is to keep them at arms length
(Keeley pulled away at his most vulnerable moment)
It’s the hardest thing he’s ever done, learning how to be a person in his middle age, but Roy Kent is nothing if not stubborn and he’ll conquer this as he has everything else.
* Roy Kent going to therapy and actually healing makes me emotional because every time he’s just a little too vulnerable he gets defensive and grouchy and he is me and I am him, and I just adore this perpetually depressed man and I miss him.

Listen, I love S3 RoyJamie dynamics. Obviously. That’s a whole ass love story right there. My favourite ever.
But the mutual psychosexual obsession they both shared in S1…we will never get anything like that in any media ever again. Absolutely unhinged. And Jamie at least had a reason for it. Boy had a poster of Roy Kent on his childhood bedroom wall for 15 years. That’s his hero, bisexual awakening and he was desperate for attention, even if it was negative.
What excuse did ROY have??? “I don’t care what you lift pretty boy”. “Right foot kissed by God”. “Made me question my faith”. “All I think about is Jamie FUCKING Tartt”. I know he’s intense about Jamie in S3 but at least he had reasons for that, even if it isn’t normal. S1 Roy’s obsession with Jamie was so much weirder and so much more unhinged.

Okay listen, I’m all for subverting expected sexual roles, especially amongst queer couples (ie, Castiel always, and yes I mean always, tops Dean) but sometimes a character is just so very very clearly a bottom that I can’t imagine it any other way, it’s a defining part of their character.
Jamie absolutely bottoms (both physically and mentally) and Roy absolutely tops (both physically and mentally) and it’s not that Roy is unwilling to bottom, or that Jamie has never topped in previous relationships, it’s just that their specific dynamic requires a service top/dom with occasional sadistic tendencies Roy and a bratty, occasional puppy sub Jamie

Roy is touchingly proud of Jamie in a quiet way.
They haven’t been dating very long (officially anyway) and though the team knows, they’re forbidden from mentioning their knowledge to Roy or during practice because one it’s none of their fucking business and two they need to at least try to be professional
Jamie isn’t sure how he feels about that.
He’s a bit of a show off, and he’s never been afraid of PDA, especially with a partner as fit as Roy Kent.
But Roy isn’t necessarily big on public displays and again it doesn’t look great that a coach is dating a player, so Jamie keeps all his penchant for needy physicality until they get home.
Roy is more than happy to give him all the love and attention he wants and then some.
And so they go for awhile, until it’s once again time for a red carpet and maybe there’s some off rumors about their closeness, about why Jamie Tartt is seen at Roy Kent’s house at all hours of the day and night, and whether something is going on.
And maybe Dani congratulated them on their six months anniversary and maybe Sam did too, and maybe, just maybe, but he’s not admitting anything, Jamie had a little meltdown that he and Roy don’t show each other off.
He knows Roy isn’t ashamed of him, everyone they care about knows, but maybe he needs reminded sometimes.
And maybe he’s at that red carpet again, in a smart suit that Keeley picked, black silk trim and deep burgundy color, he’s wearing a shirt and everything, smiling and generally being sexy for the many flashing cameras when Roy shows, deep black suit cut close and the cameras still flash, the voices shouting for Roy to stop as he makes his usual straight line down the carpet.
Jamie watches, equal parts amused and still a little hurt that he and Roy can’t do this together
(He knows why, he does, he even agrees, but it still hurts)
And he’s ready to take a step back, let Roy pass, when the older man stops, holds out his hand, quiet and calm and sure in the way only Roy Kent can be when he’s doing what he thinks needs done.
Jamie can’t help the stupid grin on his face, the slight shake to his hand as he reaches back, and there they are, holding hands on a red carpet.
Jamie doesn’t know what to do, but Roy casually steps beside him, hand in hand, and he doesn’t smile, but he turns his head just enough to catch his jawline in the flash of the cameras and Jamie just stares, so in love he can’t even breathe.
(The pictures turn out great, lovesick grin and all)
Then it’s just a careful, gentle walk down the carpet, his hand in Roy’s, and maybe Jamie cries a bit once they’re out of camera view, and maybe Roy kisses him, there in that public place, a gentle stroke of affection that only Roy can do.
Jamie begs to suck him off in the bathroom, Roy says absolutely not, and they argue about the merits of public sex until Rebecca shushes them with a a truly poisonous glare.
They hold hands the entire time.

Yeah, I definitely wasn’t expecting the reaction I got, I had (naively) not understood how intense people take their love of Anders, lol.
I will agree that Anders is definitely funny and as a not so mentally together person myself I enjoy dark humor.
Thank you for answering its cool to hear other people’s perspectives.
Whenever I don’t enjoy a character I like to hear what other people think, because I can make decisions about that pretty quickly.
I don’t think I’ll ever personally like Anders but I appreciate you taking the time to tell me why you do
Since people seem to think I was putting out a debate I’ll reframe the question.
Why do you like Anders?
And when I say like I mean personality traits and actions he takes in game. I don’t mean that you think he’s hot or anything like that. I’m curious why you like him as a person, not even necessarily as a plot or writing device.
Why do you like Anders as a person?
I do genuinely want to know.

@redlyriumidol I never thought of Anders’ humanity holding Justice back, that’s actually a fascinating point I hadn’t considered.
And thank you for answering, you made some interesting points that I’ll definitely be thinking about the next time I play, I don’t think I’ll ever truly like this character, and not because of the Chantry explosion which I agree was an inevitable thing, but it’s cool to hear a perspective different than my own.
Since people seem to think I was putting out a debate I’ll reframe the question.
Why do you like Anders?

I wanted Roy to confront James Tartt Sr. I really did. Not that I don’t love Beard manhandling him out, I do, and I actually love that they had Ted freeze and be unsure of what to do.
But there’s a part of me that wanted *Roy to hit James Sr square in the mouth.
And then they gave me Jamie…sweet sweet sexy baby Jamie taking a swing. Taking the first punch. Actual true physical violence and not just the silly little tussles he’d get into with Roy in the locker room.
And it’s a quiet moment filled with sorrow and fear and maybe a little bit of freedom.
Has Jamie ever fought back like that? I don’t think he has, and then he does, and he’s free and vindicated and smug for a second, a fraction frozen in time.
Then he freezes, terrified, unsure, heartbroken
And it’s Roy who swoops in, who gathers him up tight and close and let’s him cling and sob.
It could’ve been Ted, it could’ve been Sam or Isaac or anyone.
But it had to be Roy.
This moment, this fraction of a second, let’s Roy understand Jamie more than he ever has, and it’s the catalyst of the change in their dynamic.
It’s horrible.
It’s lovely.
It’s exactly what was needed for both characters and it makes me emotional every time.

I think the idea that other people are more of an authority on what I meant on a post I wrote is ridiculous. If they think it’s argumentative or rude they can just not respond.
There is no subtext here.
It’s not an argument
And if it isn’t worth anyone’s time then they can not spend their time on it?
I’m not choosing to be ignorant, I just genuinely think that applying this deep level of subtext is ridiculous when I’ve already explained that I asked a question and if people don’t or can’t answer then they can just scroll?
I don’t “need” to understand why people think it’s argumentative, people have explained quite thoroughly they think how I asked the question was rude, and I genuinely have explained that I listed reasons for why I’m confused on why people like him.
I think this idea that I “need” to understand their point of view while being called a liar and ignorant for explaining mine is incredibly dismissive and patronizing.
Did I ask someone to change my mind? No. I’m not interested in changing my mind, I’m just interested in hearing why people like him. Because I personally would just like to hear the opinions.
It’s not an argument. I’m not looking to get opinion on why he’s a good character so I can then turn around and say he isn’t. I’m just curious why people like him.
Which is exactly what I asked
Once again I’m not going to continuously explain there’s no subtext here, or that I’m suddenly an asshole just because people think they know what I meant better than I do.
If you genuinely think that my post is argumentative and you think that’s rude and ridiculous then you are free to not respond
Can someone explain why they like DA2 Anders?
Not why he’s interesting characters wise, which I would argue he’s not really, and including the canon vitriolic hatred he has for Fenris?
You can call it bad writing, and it is, you can call it an obvious gaff (it should have been Velena) and maybe that’s true, but at the end of the day, BioWare wrote him LIKE THAT, which makes it, regrettable canon.
Can someone explain why they like him? He just really makes my skin crawl, his obsessive nature when it comes to Hawke and all the truly awful vicious unprovoked things he says about Fenris, along with his penchant for co-opting other mage’s pain as his own.
Plus it’s CANON that he approves of sending Fenris back with Danarius.
I’m not trying to say you shouldn’t like him, that’s entirely your prerogative, but could you explain why?
And I’m talking DA2 Anders, I would argue awakening Anders was dead the moment he let Justice in.

He’s the topic of my post, I’m going to tag him, dude.

I detailed why I don’t like him and asked people why they do. So far no one has been able to explain why they like him. I can’t give my reasoning on why I don’t? I’ve been a part of this fandom, silently, since Origins released, and yet no one can give me canon reasoning why they like Anders. Not why they enjoy a morally grey character writing, not why they prefer his characterization in Awakenings, not even why they think his type of character is necessary to the narrative, I want to know why people LIKE Anders, and so far the only response is that people are offended that I don’t like him? Be so for real right now, I asked a question, answer it or don’t. But let’s not pretend that I’m picking a fight just because you don’t like the canon examples I have for not liking this character.
Can someone explain why they like DA2 Anders?
Not why he’s interesting characters wise, which I would argue he’s not really, and including the canon vitriolic hatred he has for Fenris?
