âElizabeth.â I whispered at the door of the armory.
âOh. Samantha. Didnât see you there.â She smiled at me nervously. She wasnât expecting me here.
Her eyes were shining like stars, and I couldnât help but remember the night I met her. She was just another knight, respectfully smiling at me. How could we knew what would become of us.
âI need you to know what is going to happen today.â I said, glumly.
Her smile faltered. âWhat is happening today?â Her expression broke me, but it was too late to back down.
âAn army is on its way. To attack the palace.â
âWhat? What do you mean? Why arenât you doing anything?â
âElizabeth-â
âWhat is going on, Sam?â
The intimacy of the nickname broke me even more.
âIâm leading the attack. I just wanted to see you one last time.â
Her expression turned frustrated. Finally understanding. âYou do know who are you telling this to, right? Iâm a knight of this kingdom. I made a vow to protect it.â She drew her sword. âAnd I will.â
I laughed softly, but there wasnât any humor in it. âI love you. Thatâs all I wanted to say. In case this is the last time we see each other.â
She started walking toward me, sword drawn. âWell, I hate you.â She took me by the front of my dress and kissed me aggressively. âI just wanted you to know that.â
Elizabeth has always been a puzzle.

âI missed you.â
âI know, I know, Iâm sorry.â she answered apologetically while pulling the other girl up trough the window.
Their situation wasnât ideal. Not ideal at all. Hiding, climbing walls, whispering, meeting late at night.
But what would the kingdom think if they discovered their princess made the worst mistake ever and caught feelings for someone she absolutely cannot have?
What would her parents say?
âItâs been too long.â the princess said while leading the other girl towards the bed.
âItâs been three days.â
âIt felt longer.â
âI bet it did.â the pirate chuckled.
Her lover wasnât just any commoner. No. She was a captain, a pirate well known for her greed and daring attitude. She wasnât on the city very often, but even when she was they couldnât see each other as much as theyâll like.
Because the princess was marrying in less than two months. Theyâll soon will have to say goodbye, maybe forever.
They kissed, the lights off, the night silent, everyone in the castle asleep.

đŻ my theory for six of crows 3 đŻ
so it takes place âmANy yEArS dOwN tHe LIneâ, or like 7 years after crooked kingdom ends, and everyone went their separate ways.
Wylan and Jesper are still together. Jesper helped Wylan with the business of the Van Eck empire and they live together. Jesper spent some months in Ravka learning more about his power and how to use it. He is closer to his dad. He visits him sometimes and talks with him through letters.
Wylan runs the Van Eck empire (with some help) and has come to terms with his dyslexia. He brought his mom home and they eventually grew close and became a family again. He left his dad behind but still takes care of Alys as best he can. Wylan loves his little brother and visits every once in a while.
Kaz is the king of the Barrel. No other way to put it. With Per Haskell and Pekka Rollins gone, he has almost no competition. Heâs the best Barrel boss there has ever been. And overall, he keeps being himself. He is friendly with Wylan and Jesper, and once in a while they meet to catch up and do business. He misses Inej while sheâs at sea, but they spend all their time together when she happens to be in town.
Inej is everything she wanted to be. She leads three ships and catches slavers like theyâre fish. She is close to her family and meet them every time she can. Her relationship with Kaz has only grown and developed, and they had worked through their touching trauma together. Inej visits and catches up with Wylan and Jesper every time she is in town. She has build a reputation and slavers know to beware of her.
And then thereâs Nina. Nina. She buried Matthias in Fjerda like he wanted, and eventually she went back to Ravka. But she has never been the same. She left the Little Palace, and lives in a little Ravkan town. She exchanged letters with the rest of the crows at first, but as the time passed she stopped answering. Reading their letters brought her too many memories, reminded her way too much of Matthias. So she stopped answering.
But. When they less expect it, something, someone from their past, from the ice court brings them all together. And they have to learn how to deal with each other now that everything has changed.

If you had asked Drew what she thought of Silena a year ago she would have tried to hide her smile and would insist on how annoying she could be. While in reality, she really looked up to her big sister. It was Silena who had taught her how to deal with jerks, who taught her everything about style, who guided her at every chance, and who trusted her. She saw beyond her rough exterior, and supported her in a way no one else did.
But if you asked her now? Traitor. Double face. Betrayer.
She left Drew all alone, without saying good bye, without any warning. Or apology. As if Drew didnât matter to her. As if Drew didnât matter at all. She swore to never let anyone make her feel like that ever again, and thatâs what Aphrodite is all about. Knowing you should never let anyone in your heart, or theyâll break it. Break theirs first.
Thatâs what she was thinking about as she leaded Piper, her new sister, into the cabin, since it was one of her new responsibilities as counselor. It was a nice place, neat and well organized. The light entered nicely trough the windows and illuminated the posters of hot celebrities.
âSo, Piper. Welcome to the Aphrodite Cabin. We donât usually have girls as ugly as you, but I hope you get comfortable. Just not too much.â She casted a mean and clever glance at Piper.
Why she treated Piper like that? Because Silena would have put a hand on her shoulder and said âCome on, Drew. Thereâs no need to be mean. Piper is new and is confuse right now.â or âDrew, apologize. Please.â
And Drew would have listened to her. As always.
Thatâs why she decided to lead the cabin by fear, thatâs why she took it upon herself to make everyone else miserable. Because Silena didnât, and look who she ended up being. Drew wouldnât listen to her anymore.
âAnd do it usually have girls as nasty as you?â Piper responded, chin held high. Some campers gasped.
âSorry? I think I didnât hear you well, hun.â She answered, while quickly checking her make up in a mirror. An opportunity to take it back, a warning of what could happen if she didnât.
âI asked if the cabin usually have girls as nasty as you.â So she wouldnât take it back. Fine.
âOh, honey. You know, you remind me so much of our dear old counselor, Silena Beauregard.â Drew said, in a tone that made it clear it was not a compliment. âStupidly brave, and with your loyalties divided.â Piper flinched at her last words and she wondered if there was more to it.
âWe try to get along in here. We have fun. Thereâs no need for you-â
âSilena was not stupid.â A girl said, and that cut short Drew. âShe died a hero.â
The girl was 12 or so, and she hadnât been in camp that long, barely 2 year. She didnât knew what she was talking about. She didnât saw Silena crumble with guilt after Charlieâs death, she didnât had to sit and watch how she rode to battle, unable to do anything. And she didnât had to hear the news from someone else because Silena was too much of a coward to tell her herself. Drew would have helped her.
âShe betrayed us all, she helped the enemy.â Voice tight, patience short.
âShe fixed her mistake, she was sorry-â
âSHE WAS A TRAITOR.â Drew roared in the girlâs direction. âNot another word about it. Everyone, out of here. Now.â
Everyone rushed outside. Including Piper, holding onto her opportunity to go.
Leaving Drew alone.
They would never understand.

âReyna-â
âOctavian.â She cut him off, angrily.
âYou canât keep denying the truth. You need another praetor, the legion needs another praetor.â
âWe have another praetor.â
âOne that isnât dead.â
âJason is not dead.â
It was late at night, Octavian was following her to her room, pestering her once more with the choosing of another praetor. Reyna was tired. Of Octavian, of the constant reminder that Jason was gone, of everything.
âIsnât he? Heâs been gone for months. You canât keep sending parties to look for him. Wasting resources. Wasting time. Looking for a dead man.â
They were walking side by side down the path leading to her room. All Reyna wanted was to get there. To be alone. She fastened her pace.
âHe may not be here, but I am. Youâll do well to remember your place in the legion. I decide what we do and what we donât. And if I donât think we are wasting time looking for him, then weâll keep doing it.â She answered, angrily.
âItâs been too long, Reyna. People are starting to think this is a lost case. They are starting to say we should also replace you.â
âPeople are saying that? Or is it just you?â She looked him straight in the eye, halting before her room.
âLook-â
They finally arrived, and she was not going to stay with him a second longer. She was done.
âGoodnight, Octavian.â She walked to her door, opening it and entering.
âReyna-â
âI said, goodnight.â She closed it in his face.
âYou canât keep denying the truth! Sooner or later youâll accept what we all know. Jason is gone forever.â He finally left, but his words stayed with Reyna.
On the other side of the door, she crumpled. She sat on the floor with her back to the door and sobbed. She never cried much, but lately she couldnât help it.
With her face in her hands she looked up and saw the moon through the window. White and whole. Its light illuminating her dark room.
âWhere are you, Jason?â
