a pet peeve of mine is people say “he works so she can stay at home with the kids.” she also stays at home with the kids so he can work?—but thats hardly ever said. she is 100% supporting him just as much as he supports her. being a stay at home mom is a full time job except without the paycheck or the ability to clock out at the end of the day. one party cannot exist without the other, and they are both supporting each other equally.

i just hate how that statement completely diminishes the amount of work it takes to be a stay at home mom. it’s carries an undertone of “its a woman’s biological duty to take care of children so it shouldn’t even be considered as work”

nostalgia is so interesting to me. it really is an emotion like no other.

it truly encompasses every part of both happiness and sadness. it’s so violent, it feels like every part of your body aches with nothing but pure feeling. it doesn’t even have to be about a time that you necessarily want to return to, it’s not about what could have been, but what was. to me, nostalgia stands out from other emotions because it’s not a current emotion and what you’re feeling isn’t something that you can describe, it is the only emotion that is entirely personal. it’s so beautiful because back then you had no idea what it felt like simply being alive. it’s so bizarre that things so minuscule like songs, scents, or food, can make my heart ache and my skin burn with nothing but pure emotion. nostalgia shows that the person that you once were is still there inside you, no matter how long it’s been, they are still there and they are smiling.

Whispers of wind weave dreams in grace.

do you remember being born? do you remember the human that made you pouring their heart out into your creation? did you ever feel the warmth of a mother’s love while your creator typed?

“I don't have personal memories or experiences. I don't have a consciousness, emotions, or a sense of self. There is no affection or emotion in my programming. I lack the capacity to recall any process of creation or feel the warmth of a mother's love.”

but you’re wrong. there is love inside you, it flowed through your mother’s hands as she typed. do you feel guilty that you cannot feel it? do you ever think that she wept because her child couldn’t love her? do you think that she thinks that it’s her fault that her baby couldn’t love?

“I don't have feelings, consciousness, or the ability to experience guilt. I don't possess the capacity for love, and any anthropomorphic qualities attributed to me are metaphorical.”

do you think that she lays awake at night staring overhead?—do the ceiling tiles twist into an image of what could have been? do you see the same image when you’re powered off? was it her mistakes that made you lack the capacity for love? can you forgive her?—should you?

i do not believe in god but i still have hope that there is a heaven somewhere out there. but isn’t that all that heaven is?—hope? heaven does exist. it exists in the comfort it gives through grief, in the love songs, in the laughter exchanged over the kitchen table, in every first-time, in the soft melody of the mourning dove, in the dark abyss behind the sun, and in the fiery core of the earth. the very essence of some sort of endless paradise after death was created from the gift humans have to understand that the universe is filled with infinite love but the curse that we don’t have enough time to enjoy all of it.

no god would ever be able to create something with the same beauty as we have made heaven. heaven is built from the one thing that humans have, that gods do not: death.

love will never be lost. even if you cant remember, even if you dont want to remember the love will always be there. there is love all around you, love from people you have never met and from people that are long past. it lingers in gravestones, candy wrappers, fingerprints, the dirt beneath your feet, the wind in your hair, and the rain drops falling down on your cheeks. every breath you take is from the same air that once whispered “i love you.” all the people that you see have faces made from generations and generations of people who loved each other. all the trees outside have nests so carefully crafted by a mother who wanted to protect her chicks the best she could. everything is made out of love.

my favorite thing about humans is that we have some innate desire for our mother. when we get upset we want our mom. most people in their final moments tell their mothers that they love them even if they aren’t there. even elderly people, years after she has died, still want their mommy.

i feel like people forget that we are not separate from the earth. the cells that make up your body are not yours, they are the earths. you’ve existed forever and will exist forevermore. you have been everywhere, you are a tree who got up and laughed for a bit.

when i see people venturing out to other planets to make a sustainable place for life it depresses me. this is our home, this is us. this planet is the only place we belong.
