I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is allowed to criticize and dislike any character they want but it's honestly sad to see how much people here on tumblr collectively hate Cordelia. I know she's not perfect and Cassie did her dirty in ChoT but it's so disheartening to see her getting hate more than any other tsc heroine when she's the first WOC we get as a protagonist. I've never seen people pick apart any other character's smallest behavior and twist their intentions like they do to her. I honestly agree with some criticism of her but I feel so defensive when I see people shit on her and completely misinterpret her character.

Why does almost everyone in this fandom say that James is the one with communication issues in his and Cordelia's relationship?

He clearly isn't. Just because there was one incident in the end of the book where he could have phrased a sentence better doesn't mean he has terrible communication.

He constantly tells Cordelia when something is wrong.

1) He told her about the dreams.

2) He told her about her father asking him for money before he died.

3) He told her that he might have been the one to murder her father.

4) He told her that he kissed Grace.

He hardly ever not tells her something. Cordelia on the other hand as much as I might love her really doesn't tell anyone much.One big instance of this is when she didn't tell James about the whole paladin thing. He had to ask her for her to finally tell him.

People also hate on Lucie for the whole necromancy thing and say that she got way too much into it and was keeping too many secrets. Like she constantly expresses how much she dislikes keeping secrets. She also really didn't get way into deep in the necromancy. She still spent time with her friends and wrote her books. But the fandom at times refuses to acknowledge that.

I have noticed that this fandom constantly reduces characters to one specific thing and I think Lucie and James are great examples of that.

Lucie's character constantly gets labelled as I guess 'the one who got way too involved in necromancy and lies to everybody' and james as the one who gets labelled as 'the one who doesn't know how to communicate and couldn't confess his love for cordelia'.

People constantly bash on James for not being able to confess his love to Cordelia when there is a clear reason as to why he couldn't. This fandom constantly victim blames him and it is very tiring to witness.

I don't hate Grace and I don't love her. I mainly just feel bad for her. I completely understand her actions and her thought process and why she did things and that some of the things she did was because Tatiana made her do them. But at times you must admit that she was using James. Even when Tatiana didn't tell her to do it. She wanted an escape from tatiana and decided that using James was her best option. Yes Grace has a tragic back story but you can't just excuse some of her actions.

You also can't expect James to forgive her. He has every right to hate her. If I were him and I literally lost like 4 years of my life I would never want to look at her ever again. Like think about how sad that is. He has been half living since he was 14. He was a CHILD. I fully understand that Grace was also a child don't think that I don't. But overlooking the trauma that he went through because of her and Tatiana is terrible(You have to include tatiana's name because you cannot blame everything on Grace).

I just want people to try and see James's trauma because they really don't. The amount of victim blaming I have seen James's character have to go through on tumblr and on tik tok is truly saddening.
