Hamato Yoshi & Oroku Saki
Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki were raised by the Foot Clan as best friends and sworn brothers for life. They were in the same class and ascended the ranks together.
They were often put together to spar as children because their Sensei, The Ancient One, thought that both had flaws that complemented each other, with equal potential. Thus, their fates started to intertwine; one could not exist without the other.
They connected by being two of the best ninja-in-training in the Clan, and having a matching passion for all things ninjutsu. They were once merely sparring partners, but now, they were like ink and paper. They were inseperable when young, sparring together during training, and playing together during break time.
In terms of fighting, Yoshi would beat Saki in a fight any day. Yoshi was praised in his fighting skills as a result, which fueled his ego consistently. However, Saki was way better in terms of leadership qualities and discipline. They were often compared to each other, but at that time, they were kids; why care about it?
The real tension started when Oroku Saki was elected future leader of the Foot Clan at 16. This fueled Yoshi with a jealousy that caused a strain in their brotherhood. This jealousy peaked when they both fell in love with Tang Shen— one of the best kunoichi in the clan— a few years later. Tang Shen got along with both of them, but in the end fell for the more handsome Saki. They married and had a child together. They grew apart.
One day, Yoshi and Saki had a dinner together to "catch up." They both had a great time there, and Yoshi took that chance to spike Saki's drink with a sedative. Once Saki felt tired, he excused himself for the night and went home.
That night, Yoshi confronted Tang Shen. Told her that Saki was dangerous, hot-headed, vengeful. Told her to run off with him, to New York, where it's much safer than Japan. She said no, as she was already happy with Saki and Miwa, their now 3-year-old daughter. She walked home.
In a fit of anger, Yoshi poured gasoline in Saki's home once Tang Shen went back inside, and lit it on fire. Tang Shen tried to wake Miwa and Saki up once she realised the building was getting hot, but Saki remained unconcious. She laid him on a blanket and dragged him with the blanket to protect him. She also told Miwa to walk next to her.
The fire was intense, but Tang Shen managed to get out with Saki; but not without excessive scarring. It was then when she realised Miwa was not by her side. She was trapped in the building; unconcious from the smoke. Tang Shen tried to save her, but the building collapsed on them.
Saki lived, but he lost everything. His looks, his wife, his daughter; his home.
No law enforcement was involved as the Foot Clan could not sully their name with such a trivial case as this. Saki was banned from getting the police involved. He reluctantly agreed. Yoshi was sentenced to exile due to murder of a kunoichi and attempted murder of the Foot Clan leader.
This turned Saki resentful; justice had to be served. He then realised that as the leader of the Foot Clan, he had all the power he needed to hunt down Hamato Yoshi and have his revenge. Once he caught wind of Yoshi moving to New York, he started a branch of the Foot in New York and appointed himself as leader there, and another leader to take care of the original one in Japan.
After a lengthy and strenuous search, Saki, now known as the Shredder, managed to find Yoshi on the beach walking together with his pet rat. He snuck up on Yoshi and sliced his back, catching him off guard. Once Yoshi turned around Saki took the chance and stabbed him straight through the chest. At long last, he could get his revenge. Two men who were once brothers in a clan, turned against each other due to jealousy.
However, this story isn't over. Lurking in the shadows is a certain mutated rat who just witnessed the death of his father. And he is determined to perpetuate the cycle of revenge.

Zayton Honeycutt
Backstory
Zayton was a normal human child on Earth until he was abducted by Krang at around 8 years old, to a distant planet called D'Hoonib, tasked to be a scientist. He has always taken an interest in STEM, so he diligently listened and tinkered around curiously.
This brought him closer to Krang, especially how Krang saw bits of himself in Zayton, they bonded as if they were father and son. To Krang, Zayton was his #1 scientist.
Somewhere along the lines, he got along with troublemakers Harold and Libby, whom he uses his "favourite child" privileges to help them out.
He doesn't hate the life he has in D'Hoonib, but he sometimes just wishes he could go back home. He brings this up to Krang sometime around his late teens, and asks if Krang could let him return just for a bit. Krang knows the risks of potentially exposing him to Earth and gives him a firm NO, and Zayton never asks him again.
However, his best friends Harold and Libby were determined to let him live his dream. They would build a teleportal device to Earth and send him through there. Since they have subcutaneous trackers in them there's no way that Zayton could walk around on Earth without Krang finding out. So, they will build a robot— the Simulated Anthropomorphic Lifeform (SAL), and transfer Honeycutt's conciousness into it while he's on Earth. This way his body can stay in D'Hoonib, while his mind can be on Earth and do Earth things, without Krang realising.
They stuck a remote camera on SAL so Zayton could watch over his body while he's on Earth, along with a remote telecommunications device that will help Libby and Harold communicate with him then. They also agree to always keep an eye on Zayton's body and the technicalities of everything on the D'Hoonib side— they never felt the need to return.
It took them about 20 years to finish the project— side gig and all— and by then they're in their late 30's. Zayton finally goes to his home, and sees his family under SAL's cloaking device. His family handles it surprisingly well, considering he was gone for about 30 years. They believe him, because stricken with grief they'll believe anything. He spends some time on Earth both with his family and alone, enjoying the things that he was missing all this time.
Along the way he meets and falls in love with Marra, and they start dating... somehow. I have ideas where they met in a park with Marra infodumping about her special interest to him. I love autistic people. Commencing comical romantic romcom that I honest to god don't know how to write... Marra takes Zayton's whole backstory quite nicely, because, well, in front of her is literally a robot explaining the situation, things couldn't get any weirder than this.
He leaves Earth through the portal, and goes back to D'Hoonib to tell Harold and Libby about his day on Earth. Then, a few days later, he goes back to Earth, to experience it again. He does this again and again, for years. And Harold and Libby were always smart enough to make sure Krang doesn't find out.
One day, he tells Marra about Krang's plan to terraform the Earth. Marra is disgusted, and rightfully calls it out as genocide. Zayton is confused and horrified— he was never taught this, nor the history of Earth— and Marra patiently explains it to him while progressively getting more angry. I could see her refusing to talk to him for a few days after that, too. But ultimately, she understands that this is a new concept to him and he probably never heard of it. He isn't evil, he's just... an idiot.
After this exchange Zayton goes back to D'Hoonib and has a good cry with Harold and Libby, telling them about the truth on Krang's plans. They, too, are horrified, with an "I knew it, Krang's screwed in the head" kinda reaction.
Instead of growing distant from Krang Zayton decides to get even closer to him, because he refuses to believe that Krang is actually this heartless, evil monster who wants to wipe out all life on Earth. So, he tries to change him, subtly hinting to Krang that he thinks that something is very wrong about his idea.
Now, Krang is not stupid. He picks up that Zayton has changed his demeanour somewhere along the lines, and wonders what is wrong with this guy. He starts plotting ways to spy on what Zayton is doing in his free time, at first he was convinced it was Harold and Libby's doing, and decides to find out once and for all.
Thus, while Zayton is out on Earth as usual, Krang pays the secret lab they made a visit. He finds out about everything they've been doing over the past 25 years. He was so angry at the secrecy and gall of these 'children' that in a fit of wrath, accidentally destroyed his top scientist's body and severely injures Harold and Libby who tried to protect him. Thinking they are dead, Krang leaves the place.
Krang tells everyone that there is a Fugitoid on the loose. He tells the other D'Hoonibians that the Fugitoid is very violent and dangerous, nearly killed Harold and Libby. He tells Granitor to go to Earth via Krang's teleportal device and track down this Fugitoid, wherever it is, and intentionally leaves out the fact that he was originally Honeycutt.
Zayton watches all this unfold on his remote camera, unable to do anything about it. And worse yet, once Zayton returns home, he finds his family dead. Burnt. The work of Granitor. He goes to Marra for asylum, and to maybe live at her place.
Zayton is filled with grief and anger, but at least he has Marra. She was his support for most of this and she urged him on to fight against what Krang was doing, because it was the "right thing to do." Of course, not before coming to terms with... everything that's changed. Stranded on Earth, with no family, no Harold or Libby.
He tries to find networks. He confides in the EPF, who agrees to track Krang's location and give him all the information that they can find on him. Since the Utroms and the EPF are under contractual solidarity they can't hurt them, but they track all Krang activity as much as possible.
He sneaks into TCRI. Surely, that must be the place where he could find the truth about Krang? Marra offered to follow him, but he tells her to keep herself safe because she has a job, a life, and God knows Krang is out there looking for the person who 'tainted' his top scientist and most useful asset.
And that's where we are at the start of the story.

Ooze
There are two types of mutagen in OOTC. One primary, one secondary.
Primary mutagen is a byproduct of Utrom atmosphere converters in the TCRI building— the Utroms have protocol to contain it so it doesn't contaminate their temporary home planet, but some of the machines were faulty and the Utroms were unaware— partially to do with the workers at the facility, and Bishop's external bribery to keep it hush hush.
The way primary mutagen mutates organisms is that it enhances/increases the self-awareness and intelligence of any organism with or without a nervous system, as well as anthropomorphising them and giving most the ability to speak. If a human were to come into contact with it, they would gain high intelligence but mostly keep their physical state with slight alterations that are easily overlooked.
Secondary mutagen is a highly reactive substance synthesised by Agent Bishop and Dr Baxter Stockman, who were previously capitalising off of the outflow of primary mutagen by using it as the main power source for their laboratory/office building.
After the Utroms fixed their atmosphere converters' mutagen disposal unit, Stockman and Bishop decided to synthesise their own chemical compound that manages to generate enough energy to sustain the high-energy work they do in Stockgen and the EPF. This is the secondary mutagen.
How it mutates organisms is by fusing the DNA of any organism with DNA into one— essentially creating amalgamations of species. If the mutated person has an obvious larger abundance of DNA of a certain animal, they will instead take on that form. However they will still retain their human-like cognition.
How it reacts to organisms mutated from primary ooze is very different— it reverses the mutation, essentially acting as a form of retro-mutagen which has slow-acting, but permanent consequences.
Examples of people from primary ooze would be Seymour Guts, who started out as a network of prototype organic nanobots which somehow ended up in the ocean, being bathed with ocean water contaminating the stuff. The nanobots gained an ability to coordinate extra well, forming a fully functioning organism with its circulatory system consisting of mutagen, hence the Mutagen Man. Because his cells are Nanobots Premium, Seymour is very fragile and needs extra care or he'll be splayed back into a network of organic bots.
The kidnapped children on D'Hoonib were exposed to mutagen because Krang got impatient when he realised that their intelligence level had not reached the point where they were able to conceptualise the Utroms' scientific theorems. With an enhanced intelligence they were able to be about as intelligent as the average Utrom at their point in lifespan, therefore made it easier for Krang to tell them about important concepts yet-to-be-discovered by humanity.
The Mutagen Bomb using secondary mutagen mutated many humans and changed their lives forever, including Jennika and one other Mona Lisa who was, at the time, babysat by April for the past 3 days and hence mutated into a human-salamander hybrid.

Rat King vs Mikey
Mikey is the eye of the tornado, remaining calm while fighting chaos with chaos. At the same time he's paired with his ability to get a sense of everything going on, thus letting him have a foresight on almost everything. But what if this is what challenges him, ultimately?
Cue, the Rat King. The embodiment of chaos. Impossible to predict, increasingly chaotic patterns. Leo absolutely shatters when handling the Rat King, but Mikey would step up to protect his family, because this is what he knows best.
But what if his intuition is not enough? The Rat King has seen all sorts of chaos, and also has amazing foresight. He fights, and causes wreckage for boredom, and his dealings would cause even the most adaptable person to lose their mind.
Mikey vs Rat King is essentially fighting fire with fire.

Plans and Sabotage
Leo is THE strategic genius of the gang. He has amazing visual imagery and he's great at formulating plans... under controlled situations. He likes to be calm, collected and in the lair when he formulates his strategies— it's where he thinks the clearest. However, the high-stakes nature of the situations they end up in causes him to shut down and be unable to make proper, rational decisions for his team...
...Which is where Mikey comes into play. As the team's second-in-command, he's always the person for Leo to fall back on. His ability to remain calm in chaos paired with his impeccable intuition skills makes Mikey very important when bailing the team out of whatever high-pressure last-minute sticky situation they manage to find themselves in. One thing that's for sure; when Mikey realises something is wrong, you LISTEN, or face the consequences.
Since they don't have time for him to explain his idea, the brothers can only trust him and hope that he's right; and to make things worse his plans are often so chaotic and nonsensical that even Donnie has doubts as to whether Mikey can actually pull it off, but they never have failed in doing so. Yet.
Donnie and Raph are usually comfortable with taking the sidelines, but that doesn't mean that Leo doesn't include them when strategising though, he needs them for other things and needs to know if they are willing to/can do it. Plus, they're family! Of course they're included!
Donnie handles nearly everything behind the scenes, since he is the weakest compared to his brothers due to his upbringing prior to being found by the Hamato Clan, he would always be placed far from the battle site when it can be helped. Don't be fooled though, he's usually the most important part of the whole operation; as the resident science and machines guy he's mostly responsible for all the tech involved in that operation, as well as a lot more others. He's occasionally the errand boy. While Donnie focuses on all of the technical aspects...
...Raph is always situated at the frontlines of battle. Being the most built paired with his special interest in boxing, sparring and all things battle?? This makes him the PERFECT person to be fighting in the frontlines, and he loves the job that he is assigned. Plus, whenever he feels like he's fighting for his family, he feels a sense of... serene.
However, Raph has a problem with controlling his temper. He's impulsive, and he has a strong sense of justice. Those three traits are a recipe for disaster especially when dealing with big bad people who are out to kill your family. He'll jump at them and once his sense of justice gets in the way of his rationality there's no stopping him.
Afterwards comes the guilt: After the rage episodes— often once they're safe at the lair, Raph would express intense guilt, apologising profusely to Leo for ruining his plan and always needing Mikey to save them. Leo understands and would respond with an "It's okay, you couldn't control it, I'll help you with it."
Raph is aware that this is a problem and has been trying to stop himself from losing his temper. He'd try everything under the sun to keep his composure but it's just so hard, especially when you're in a stressful environment full of people you detest who just made a threat to your family's safety, where natural instinct overrides everything you've tried to rewire about yourself.
And while Leo understands that Raph doesn't mean to do this, he does feel hurt deep down when this happens, since that was HIS plan that he carefully constructed, and yet it almost never works out. Sometimes, he doubts himself as a true leader because of this, and other times, he can fault Raph for ruining it. I wouldn't be surprised if he snapped at Raph once or twice for going off at the bad guys, or even hurting him to some capacity in a fit of panic, trying to stop him from sabotaging the plan he just constructed.
Leo would then realise what he just did wrong, and then feel guilty HIMSELF for his own panic/anger induced episodes.
While Raph is the main perpetrator for the group's sabotage, the others also do ruin plans half the time as well. Leo for one wishes he were Leos from other iterations: as disciplined as he wants to be, he's secretly a fun lover. Well, it's an open secret, his brothers KNOW this, and oftentimes use this to their advantage.
They tempt Leo, "ooo you wanna do something fun with us instead of patrolling for Splinter so bad ooo" and 9/10 times he gives in. Of course, this leads them to a lot of trouble a lot of the time. Leo's also known to ignore Mikey's gut feelings, because sometimes his feeling goes against what Splinter says, and Leo would always pick Splinter's order over Mikey. He knows the consequences, but he doesn't wanna disappoint Splinter. Mikey always has his "I told you so!!" moment afterwards.
Donnie isn't immune to this BS even if he's the most cooperative turtle most of the time. He's usually honest about his abilities, but sometimes ego can get in the way of what he can do. Especially after meeting the big shot scientists, like Honeycutt or Mr O'Neil, he tends to constantly try to prove his worth by overestimating his own abilities.
"Oh, er... of course I can hack into this never-seen-before Utrom security system!" and he ends up setting off an alarm. Most likely, Honeycutt would talk some sense into him after he finds out about this.
Mikey can screw up, too. He has ADHD and can be impulsive, so he's known to act against his own gut feeling when his heart overrides his gut. Having extremely high empathy, and just generally being a silly dude overall, he tends to drop any and all existing plans if there's a [perceived] life at risk. For example, a hologram injured cat. Even though his gut feeling is telling him that this is wrong, he could ignore it because he doubts his own intuition, refusing to risk a life just because "he got cocky with his abilities."
