Of course, I sort all my bookshelves the normal way, alphabetically (by first sentence).

Like I did with the moral alignments, I thought I would make a post about why and how I sort characters into Hogwarts Houses! There are also quizzes so you can figure it out for yourself as well. I go into detail about each House, what they represent, their background and what it means to be sorted into a certain House.ย
I hope you enjoy!
*just because Iโm talking about Harry Potter doesnโt mean I align with the transphobic views of J.K. Rowling. There is no room for transphobia on my page, and I support the trans and LGBTQIA+ community*
Figuring out which Hogwarts House you belong to has been around since the HP series came out. But I think thereโs more to it than simply choosing to be inย โthe brave houseโ orย โthe smart house.โ I think it reveals a lot about a person - or rather, a large aspect.ย
Here are a few tests for you to try, comment below what you got!
Test 1ย (theย โofficialโ Wizarding World quiz)
Test 2 (from IDRlabs, they have other personality quizzes as well!)
Test 3 (Hereโs the full Pottermore quiz. The 1st quiz will only have a few questions, so thatโs why I donโt think itโs fully accurate to take)
Test 4ย (A really good one from Quotev, the questions/answers arenโt obvious)
Gryffindor: Do what is right.
Hufflepuff: Do what is kind.ย
Ravenclaw:ย Do what is wise.
Slytherin: Do what is necessary.

A fair man, he believed that any child who displayed magical abilities before their 11th birthday should be able to attend Hogwarts.
Gryffindor was the original owner of the Sorting Hat
Gryffindor also had a sword made, which would present itself to any true Gryffindor in a moment of need.
He was allegedly the best friend of Slytherin before he left Hogwarts
Godric will always be known for his accomplished skills in battle, and his fight against Muggle discrimination in the wizarding world.

Rowena wore a diadem that was said to grant wisdom to the wearer, however,ย Rowenaโs own daughter grew jealous of her motherโs incredible intelligence. Helena Ravenclaw stole her motherโs diadem and ran away, a fact that Rowena kept hidden from her fellow founders even when she fell ill.
Wanting to see Helena before she died, Rowena sent a man to bring Helena home. Unfortunately, that man was the Bloody Baron, who was in love with Helena, and stabbed her in a rage when she refused to come home.

I previously mentioned "Inbox Zero" as like the one piece of corporate-principle-type stuff from my new job that I'm actually 100% on board for, and I wanted to share an update.
So apparently it's relatively controversial in the business world whether "Inbox Zero" should mean that you have zero unread emails in your inbox, or you should have zero emails in your main inbox (i.e. everything in your main inbox is sorted into folders, and then you keep sorting them as you get them).
I started with the "zero unread emails" approach, where you make some folders, but anything that doesn't really fit one of your categories just stays in your main inbox as if that, in itself, is the miscellaneous folder. You open all your emails, but you don't sort all of them. That was cool, but I still found stuff getting lost on my last scan through my inbox because there were things that I opened, initially responded to, then forgot to follow up on.
So I switched to the approach of having zero emails in my inbox (and sorted like 30,000 emails across 5 email accounts over the past two weeks). Game changer. Now the only things I leave in my main inbox are things where the conversation, project, etc. has not been completed. Upon completion, they get sorted. Now my inbox is a to-do list, and I don't miss events, conversations, store promotions, - anything.
You can guess why this is very good and efficient for activism purposes, considering almost all the groups I work with communicate via email.
The screenshot above is from one of my misc email accounts (my personal has double-digits of folders), but all my accounts look like that now. Nothing in inbox, promotions, or social. I sort and delete things as I go. For my personal inbox, I let the promotions tab pile up for a month in case I get a store coupon that becomes relevant later, but then I delete everything in that tab at the beginning of each month.
This has been the hottest organizational tip that I've received in years, and it is vibing so hard with my ADHD.
^^^Credit to fellow Tumblrite, @catcrumb for this image which pops into my mind every single time I sort something.

Organizing hack: Don't sort stuff on your bed.
I have finite mental resources and some issues related to cleaning/organizing. I run out of Give-A-Darn pretty fast. The last thing I want is semi-sorted stuff on my sleeping space. Sleepytime CJ will throw that stuff on the floor, perpetuating a mess for Morning CJ as well. It's never worked.
Sorting and organizing always gets done elsewhere. Period. And it's easier to organize when I know I have a safe space if the Give-A-Darn runs out.

Random ask, if Klance, Gajevy, and Merthur are going to Hogwarts, what houses do you think that will fit them (in your opinions)? Why?
Hmmm.... That's a very good question too.
1. Gajevy
Levy would definitely be a Ravenclaw. She's academic smart and solves riddles. She's pretty clearly a Ravenclaw.
Gajeel would, I think, be a Slytherin. Once he's decided on a family, he sticks to them. This has a little to do with my definition of Slytherins but I think Gajeel would be really family and blood oriented. If he can't have that, then he's going to stick to the group of people he accepts as family and goes way too far for them. It's what he did when we first see him. (I watched the show 10 years ago, I can't remember the guild name) but I remember that his entire life revolved around them and he simply accepted their guild rules as law.
My house definition on that note:
Hufflepuffs don't focus so much on blood/family relations and more on found family. Their friendship bonds are self made and soft.
Ravenclaws are study groups that help each other become smarter.
Gryffindors are friends who are willing to fight each other for their believes if necessary.
Slytherins stick to blood relations and accept tradition as law and would never stand up to one another. Nor are their relationships necessarily emotional or have specific goals. They stick together in order to stick together. That's why they are easier to manipulate.
2. Klance
Lance: Gryffindor. The reason for that is not necessarily that it's the house that fits him best but Lance would have chosen it. He has as much Hufflepuff energy as he is brave but he wants to be brave, wants to be a hero. So, naturally, the hat let him choose the house. And he grows really into that role.
Keith: Gryffindor. He's reckless, he's couragous and gets himself in trouble. He's always been a Gryffindor. And Lance hates to know that the hat didn't hesitate to put Keith there. That Keith is more of a Gryffindor than him. Keith doesn't really believe that he fits though.
However, I believe that both of them would be able to pull the sword from the hat. I might even argue that Lance would do it first.
3. Merthur
Oh.... Boy. This one is difficult, I swear.
Arthur is easily a Gryffindor. He's courage incarnate, whereelse would HE go? He's pulled the sword from the stone, he's a Pendragon, gold on red. That's a Gryffindor alright. (Although I would find it funny if he chose family over himself at the age of 11 and therefore lands in Slytherin on accident.)
Merlin, however.... Merlin could go anywhere.
Merlin is the bravest man Arthur has ever known. Merlin is smart (a physician). Merlin is accepting and trusting and he's also cunning and far too tied to his friends. The hat never needed longer to decide where to put him.
I have a few theories where Merlin would go, possibly.
A) if he knows Arthur is his destiny, he will follow him to Gryffindor.
B) if it's purely based on his characteristics and the hat gets to decide, he'd be a Slytherin. (Unless the hat has Kilgharrahs voice, then he'll be in Gryffindor again)
C) if Merlin chooses his own future, decides to focus on studying his magic, he'd go to Ravenclaw.
D) if Merlin can't decide, if the hat can't decide and Merlin doesn't want to give up on either of his characteristics, then the hat will put him in Hufflepuff to become an Allrounder.
That's my thoughts on this :) feel free to share yours as well ^^

also sorry to send 2 asks basically at the same time but would yall consider making it possible to sort activity by groups of ppl as well as by type of interaction? (like make it possible to see interaction from just followers, maybe, or just people youre following)
Answer:ย Hello, @cowboybreakdowns!
So, those arenโt supported right now, but we appreciate you mentioning them. And we must add that, while it would be cool to do so, alas it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
But we do have another suggestion. You could build this yourselfย via our public APIย if you were so audacious. ๐
We hope this helps, and thanks for your question. Have a lovely day!

Greetings! How do you feel about sorting algorithms? And alternatively, which is your favourite?
As an autistic turtle I absolutely LOVE sorting & algorithms! ๐
If we're talking about visually pleasing, I'd have to say "shell".
The algorithm first sorts the elements that are far away & then subsequently reduces the gap between the elements. This gap is also known as intervals. The interval between the elements is reduced based on the sequence used.
The performance of the shell sort depends on the type of sequence used for a given input array.
Here's a really cool animation of different kind of sorting algorithms & how they operate!
Advantages:
Efficient for medium-sized lists
In-place sorting: meaning it doesn't require additional memory space proportional to the input size. It operates directly on the input list, making it memory efficient & suitable for situations with limited memory availability.
Adaptive: meaning it can take advantage of partially sorted lists. It starts with a large gap between elements & gradually reduces the gap until it becomes 1.
Wide range of applications: It is commonly used in embedded systems & applications where memory is limited. Additionally, it can be useful in scenarios where a quick & efficient sorting algorithm is required, but the input size is not excessively large.
Disadvantages:
Unstable: meaning that it may change the relative order of equal elements.
Non-optimal gap sequence selection: The performance of shell sort heavily relies on the choice of gap sequence. Different gap sequences can lead to significantly different running times for the same input. Finding the optimal gap sequence for a given input is a challenging task!
And now I infodumped about algorithms...
Have a cookie ๐ช Or two ๐ช
And I deeply apologise for answering your ask so late, my inbox is always SO FULL. /g

The Crows: Hogwarts Houses
so I think it's obvious that Kaz is a Slytherin
like come on
however
I think he could also be a Ravenclaw
so that's a tie for me
Matthias is a Gryffindor
no doubt
I will not hear anything else
I mean he was prepared to question his whole belief system for Nina
like if that's not courage and bravery I don't know what is
Inej is a Hufflepuff
I know some people see her as Gryffindor but
she is not brave or daring or chivalrous
she fought for herself, yes
but only out of necessity
she is however loyal, kind, honest, caring and an amazing friend
a Hufflepuff
Wylan is a Ravenclaw
I don't think I need to explain this one
I also think that because he can't read but is still manages to be an absolute genius with the tools that he does makes him the ultimate Ravenclaw
Nina is either a Gryffindor or a Slytherin
but because she is so stubborn and happily goes against her family just to prove a point I think she's more of a Gryffindor
(feel free to fight me on this one)
Jesper is probably a Hufflepuff
or a Gryffindor
but I'm leaning towards Hufflepuff just because of his pureness towards his friends
like look at him
even though he has some very bad habits he still tries his best
and lets not forget his absolutely adorable love for Wylan
and his sentimental attachment to his guns
