the thing abt andrew is that he's not lying. he's not trying to sell an image of him that doesn't exist: he wants you to think he's dangerous because he is dangerous. he hides things when he knows people will see them as a weakness (like drake and his scars), but he doesn't lie about them. there are, comparatively, characters who will lie to save face. think neil and jean--- neil lies as easily as breathing, and in that tsc snippet jean tells abby he was injured in a scrimmage. i don't know where i'm going with this. whatever. what if andrew hates libraries bc he can't read and he's being really brave about it. wouldn't that be a little fun

thinking about. he drives all night because he knows they don't like to stay in unfamiliar places overnight. he lets them stay at his house. he tells them he doesn't care but they know better. he threatens them all the time but they know better. he can read them better than anyone. he calls them "my kids." he spares them no expenses. he gets pissed off for them, he fights like hell on their behalf. he uses gruffness to mask his feelings because well he's just like them isn't he. he drops everything when they call. he puts up with so much of their bullshit. he resents the world for treating them like that. he holds them up unflinchingly...... thinking about the tired, knowing face he makes when his kids are hurting or when he comes face to face with their pasts and how that's probably the biggest motivation for doing things how he does.

Aaron Minyard in the foxhole court specifically, character of all time. moisturized unbothered in his lane etc etc. he's got like two and a half lines and pops off with each one. serves cunt on the court. serves cunt on the dancefloor. he's hardly present so he's at his least aggressive out of all three books, in his unproblematic era. doesn't care about anyone's drama but best believe he's paying attention. mans is in the kitchen doing dishes while the others are throwing fits and acting out. king shit.

Andrew is very good at drawing. his sketchbook is filled with amazing portraits of the Foxes, mainly of Neil, landscapes and everything. but, and there's a but, he never tells anybody. he's extremely good at drawing and he does it while nobody is around. and even neil won't ever know. it's just an andrew thing and a thing that's about andrew alone.
