ā˜€ļøDeitiesā˜€ļø
I see so many people criticizing others over their relationships, or lack thereof, with their deities, so here are some reminders:
Not having deities is okay.
Having just a devotional relationship with your deities is okay.
Having a working relationship with your deities is okay.
Playing games with your deities is okay.
Harmless jokes with your deities are okay.
Doing fun things with your deities is okay.
Doing devotional offerings for your deities is okay.
Giving physical offerings to your deities is okay.
Not being able to do certain offerings for deities is okay.
Having an altar for your deities is okay, no matter the size.
Not having an altar for your deities is okay.
Laughing with your deities is okay.
Crying with your deities is okay.
Having genuine conversations with your deities is okay.
Being unable to hear/see deities is okay.
Being able to hear/see deities is okay.
Not being able to communicate through divination is okay.
Using divination as a key element in communication is okay.
Not calling on deities during spellwork is okay.
Asking deities to help during spellwork is okay.
Asking deities for help in general is okay.
This is your relationship with your deities in your practice. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do. šŸ«¶
It's 2am, please forgive me if there are any mistakes!

Candle Color and Flame Workings in Witchcraft.
Color Association in witchcraft can be important as it's associated that different colors are connected with emotions, elements, times of the week, and deities.
Common Candle Wax Color Associations:
White- cleansing
Black- protection
Silver- can be used to connect with Lunar deities
Red- anger (fire, or extreme passion)
Orange- courage
Yellow- Happiness (is associated with the sun and sun deities)
Green- money, luck (earth and grounding)
Blue- sadness (water associations, also cleanisng, can be used to connect with Lunar deities)
Purple- connecting to spirit, (connecting to spirit guides, or deities)
Pink- romance, feminity, grace (can be used to connect with Love/fertility deities)
Brown- grounding (also earth)
Of course your own personal connections with colors can be used, though these are the most common associations.
Adding herbs to your candles that have similar associations can boost your intentions and energy which can help you in your spellwork. However, please be aware that when adding herbs to your flames can be very dangerous! Keep your flames in a well ventilated area, never leave them alone and burn them on/and in fire safe containers and always have a fire extinguisher near by!
Another thing to note, is that when you add herbs to a candle they will burn hotter and faster, so if you're trying to connect with a deity and your flames erupt and dance quicker than they do without the herbs this is because you are giving the flame something other than the wick to burn. (I'm not saying that your deity isn't contacting you, but this should be heavily remembered while working with flames.)
Flame sizes and the way it behaves, witchy and mundane explanations. (without herbs).
If your candle flickers towards any of the four directions (North, South, East, West) then a Spirit or deity may be trying to reach you. (Mundane: there may be a draft pushing the flame in that direction.)
Crackling or popping wicks may indicate that a Spirit or your deity is arguing or trying to communicate with you. (Mundane: sometimes the wax from the candle may get on the wick and this is what's causing the wick to pop, also humidity can cause the flame to crackle.)
A blue flame may indicate that a Spirit or deity is near. (Mundane: your flame is safe, it's burning just as it should be.)
A Red flame indicates that your energy is being fueled by an intense emotion. Usually grief, anger or passion. (Mundane: the flame is in a cooler environment.)
A white flame may indicate peace, harmony, and prosperity. (Mundane: your candle is burning magnesium.)
High flames indicate that there is positive energy around you. (Mundane: it's too hot, causing the wax to melt faster than it's supposed to.)
A smoking candle may indicate that you are looking at things from the wrong POV. (Mundane: your flame is contaminated by either carbon dioxide or water.)
Dual flames can indicate either a solution in your energy, your mind is too unfocused to continue. (Mundane: the wick is split.)
Heart shaped flames can indicate that a loved one is present, or if you're performing some sort of romance/love spell then it is connecting you to the other person. //please perform love spells with the consent of the other person!!! Do not take away their free will/choice in being with you because you cannot handle rejection.// (Mundane: your wick is splitting/has split.)
A bright/big/steady flame may indicate that your spell is working perfectly, or that a Spirit or your deity is pleased with you. (Mundane: the length of your candle or wick is too long.)
A sputtering flame may indicate that your spell does not have enough energy. If your candle goes out on its own then your spell is finished, the spirit or deity has left. (Mundane: the wick was too short and the wax put the flame out.)
A small candle flame may indicate a lack of energy. Perhaps the spirits or your deity are trying to communicate that you need to be patient. (Mundane: The wick is too short or there is not enough oxygen fuelling the fire.)
A jumping flame may indicate hesitation. Either your energy is reflecting that you are hesitant or the spirit or your deity is telling you to be hesitant. (Mundane: the flame temporarily goes out but the smoke from the candle catches on fire causing the flame to jump back into life.)
Understanding how a flame can be interpretated through witchy and mundane reasonings can assist you with your spell work or spirit/deity work. Knowing that there is always a mundane explanation can help you avoid false hope.
If you believe deep in your gut that your flame is a sign from a deity, or spirit or you believe that your spell is Manifesting then that's great!
This guide is simply for educational purposes to help you gain knowledge on the mystical and also being cautious of mundane interactions.

In Times of Trouble (Andrea Oefinger)
St Joan of Arc, give me strength: In this, my time of need, I beg thee to come to my aid. I humbly ask thee to help me bear my trials with honour, As I remember you in your earthly agonies.
Blessed Joan, duty bound to God, give me courage: You who left family and friends to enter into Godā€™s service, Devout and valiant to uphold righteousness to the end, While being insulted and harmed by your enemies.
Holy Joan, daughter of God, give me fortitude: Help me to prevail in life and death over evil, While bearing my injuries with the dignity you showed When wounded in the breast, head, thigh, and heel.
Pious Joan, help me to be fearless: Abandoned by the king you yourself had crowned, Captured and sold to the highest bidder, You put your trust in the King of Heaven to deliver you.
Venerable Joan, help me to be unwavering in my faith: Beaten, bruised, questioned and accused, You were denied that which you loved most: Communion, confession, mass and public prayer.
Heroic Joan, help me to uphold justice: Imprisoned, neglected, threatened and condemned, Sentenced to die as a heretic, the most cruelest death, To die by the fire and be raised up in heaven!
Glorious Virgin, please intercede for me: (Share your requestā€¦) Hear this petition and my heartfelt plea. Pray for me in this, my time of need, For I believe God will deny you nothing. Amen.

Prayer to Mother Mary
O Virgin Mary,
Mother of God and of Jesus,
Pray for us and for the world to rid our hearts of hatred,
May you bring happiness to the depressed,
May you stand up for the oppressed,
And may you bring us together to celebrate our diversity in unity,
May you always hold us close, and may you make us aware of the messages of mercy, justice and love of your son Jesus Christ.
In Jesusā€™ name, Amen šŸ•Æ

hey mace,
first of all: I love your blog so much!! Your so aesthetic but also a big source for information in my craft so thanks a bunch for that.
second of all: do you have any information or input on worship of mother/Virgin Mary? I see pagans worshiping Jesus alongside Hellenistic deities, angels and saints, but I havenā€™t seen any worship of Mary. I feel drawn to her and want to worship her but I donā€™t want to be appropriating Christianity(canā€™t think of any other word for worshipping a deity from a non-pagan pantheon)
thanks so much for the help!!
ahhh thank you youā€™re so sweet!
and i donā€™t personally work with/worship mother mary but there is definitely people who do!! iā€™ve seen the occasional post cross my dashboard every now and then! i also know there are a few oracle decks dedicated to working with/worshipping her that might be cool to check out!
iā€™m sure if you look under some of the christian/catholic tags youā€™ll find resources from people who actually do work with her and know more about her than i do lol,, also looking up various ā€œmother maryā€ ā€œvirgin maryā€ phrases might get you somewhere too!
i very much doubt that you working with her would be ā€œappropriationā€ or anything like that,, as long as you approach the topic with respect you should be good :)

How to write a letter to your deity/deities:
Note: What works for me may not work for you, or you may want to alter or change certain parts of this, but if you like it feel free to use this!
So, seeing as Iā€™m neurodivergent, praying can be quite difficult for me. My mind doesnā€™t want to stay focused, I get too antsy during it, and so on. So a suitable substitute I found some people use that works for me is writing letters as a form of prayer. Keep in mind I still pray when I actually can, but that is few and far between. In this post I am gonna break down how to write one, and again you can do what you need, prayer isnā€™t a one size fits all type of thing after all!
1. (This is just something I like to do but you can do so if youā€™d like as well) I always do like a ā€œpre prayer ritualā€ of sorts before both prayer and writing a letter. I wash my hands, put on their respective playlists (of course one at a time and it depends on which one I am writing/praying to), I put on my veil as well. Then I like to start thinking calming and happy thoughts just go make sure Iā€™m not carrying anything negative with me. I sometimes cleanse my space but I donā€™t always have the luxury or spoons to do so, so thatā€™s where the music and positive vibes really come into play. Thatā€™s just what I do, but do whatever you like to do!
2. Write the letter. In some ways writing a letter to a deity is a lot like writing a friend. But of course tailor it however you need to suit that deity. Some prefer formal, some arenā€™t too concerned about that. Hereā€™s what to include in the letter:
A greeting of course! It can be dear, praise, hail, etc. possibilities are kind of endless here, but again itā€™s really up to what the deity likes.
I like to start by thanking them for their presence in my life, for guiding me, for teaching me, and so on. Fairly basic and standard but no less important. Itā€™s a nice reminder that youā€™re grateful for them.
Then I like to thank them for what they do for humanity as a whole. For example: with Apollo I might thank him for music, poetry, and medicine. With Zeus I might thank him for rain, storms, and his leadership. With Hades I might thank him for taking in our dead, for being merciful, and for watching over our departed loved ones. So whatever the deity youā€™re writing to does, thank them for it.
If you want/need to ask them something, do so! It can be for help in regards to a job search, or confidence, or good health. (Just make sure this is a two way street. That youā€™re not just taking but that youā€™re providing something in return. Not necessarily just in offerings, but in self care, and faith).
Some of them really love it when you tell them the goings on of your life as well. Your accomplishments, your goals, your worries, all of it. Even if you think itā€™s menial, tell them anyway! Thatā€™s part of why theyā€™re here. So go ahead and tell them about that lovely muffin you had, theyā€™ll be happy to here what makes you happy, no matter how small.
If thereā€™s anything else you feel you need to tell them, tell them! It can be a secret, a stupid joke you thought of, or maybe something you need advice on. Again, this is part of why theyā€™re here. And again, make sure things are a two way street, just like any relationship with an S/O or friend.
End the letter. This can be done in many ways. I usually end it by thanking them again and writing ā€˜praise *insert deity name here*ā€™ then I just write my initials (you donā€™t have to do this, this is just a habit I have from when I wrote letters to my friend and various penpals)
Add any finishing touches if youā€™d like. For me I like to do a little doodle of one of their symbols on it, or a small offering. This part is also optional, I just think it makes it a bit more personal and meaningful.
3. Now is the obvious part of this, giving it to them. So for me I live in an apartment so burning or burying it is not an option for me. So each of my deities has their own little box that I put these in along with any small offerings. I do this one at a time as well. I kiss the letter (totally optional, I just think itā€™s a nice touch), place it in the box and walk the box to their altar while thanking them and wishing them well.
4. Once that is done I thank them again (can you tell I was raised in the Midwest and am gen z at the same time where I say thank you constantly lmao), rewash my hands, undo my veil, and relax for a bit while thinking good thoughts. This is where I usually notice that theyā€™ve gotten the letter so to speak. The energy in my room often shifts (in a good way), I become super energetic and motivated and happy and confident and feel practically weightless in a way.
Again, this is just what I do and you may do things differently or exactly the same and thatā€™s totally okay. This is just what works well for me and has made things easier for me. Especially since writing comes way easier to me most times than sitting and reciting prayers. Which I still do from time to time and they still accept it and have let me know theyā€™re okay with this.
