As the end of the school year approaches for many of us, I would like to address the two different mentally ill reactions that the coming of summer tends to bring.

1. Utter freedom (to isolate)

The people that have been checking this off on their calendars for MONTHS, and cannot wait to hide under their bedsheets for the next 2-3 months.

2. Paralysing Terror (this is me)

The people who genuinely don’t know what to do during summer. Do I read? Do I try to do some homework so it’s less during school? Where is my routine??? (We also hate change)

I am genuinely terrified for summer and for next year. I’m going to miss my friends and my teachers. I’m sad that my friends are graduating and I’m not. I scared because I don’t know how I’ll keep myself busy over the summer. I won’t see my favorite teacher for 3 months. Why is it so hard to move on?? My nostalgia is consuming me and with each summer break I wonder to myself what am I going to do when I run out of school and I’m forced to face the real world
