For them, For us [6] (Obi-wan x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Following the Kenobi series, two former Jedi masters Obi-wan Kenobi and Y/n Marilla are grieving the lost of Anakin, Padme, and the jedi purge. After pledging to watch over Luke Skywalker and spending ten years in exile and making a life together, what will happen when the mistakes they made in their past come back as a new threat?
Warnings: Canon typical violence but that should be it
Authors note: IM ALIVE AND BACK BITCHES ive been working on this on and off for the last few months that its gotten way longer than i was planning and I still have 14 pages that I spilt off from this for the final part and maybe a epilogue as well but I've missed this series so much and if you enjoyed this very overdue update please let me know down below!
Prologue - Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5
You and Obi-wan watched Leia comfort people with Lola as the explosions grew closer together, the small droid beeping happily at a little boy and his mother. She must've sensed your presence because she turned around and smiled as you waved her over.
Obi-wan kneeled on the ground as you stood behind him, when Leia walked over clutching Lola.
“They're scared.” she said, another explosion boomed outside. “She keeps their mind off of it.”
“Maybe I should borrow her too.” Obi-wan suggested.
Leia looked at him confused.
“Why?”
You sighed and placed a nervous hand on Obi-wan's shoulder.
“Leia, Ben and I…” you swallowed nervously, this was harder than you thought it would be, Leia watched you with big eyes as you sucked in a deep breath.
“We’re going to go after Vader, but you're going to stay here.”
Leia's eyes grew wide and she shook her head in protest.
“No! No way! You can’t just leave me here!” she shouted.
“We’re the ones Vader wants. If we go he will follow.” Obi-wan explained gently.
“No, I'm not letting you!”
“Leia, please.” you begged.
Everyone was looking now, worry and fear as they heard what the two of you were planning to do. The woman who Leia was talking to moments ago now stood up and looked at you and Obi-wan confused.
“Wait, what happened to all of us staying together?!”
Another explosion went off, making you run a frustrated hand over your face before you looked at her with an exasperated look.
“Roken needs more time to fix the ship, this will give him that time!” you sighed, clasping your hands together like you were begging. “You have spent ten years protecting the Jedi, this is our chance to return the favor.”
“But we're so close!” Roken argued.
“Roken, you know this plan makes sense!” you replied grimly.
“No, we need you!” Sully now chimed in.
“It’ll buy you the time you need! You must get these people out of here, you are all the future!” Obi-wan exclaimed looking down at Leia. “You are the future! You're what's needed to survive.”
Leia looked away from his piercing gaze, you could've sworn you saw her eyes watering with tears but before you could get a decent look at her she turned around and ran away.
“No!” she shouted and ran around the corner.
“Leia!” you went to go after her but Haja intercepted and placed his hands on your shoulders to stop you.
“She needs to be given space.” Haja suggested.
“You must promise us that you'll get her home, Haja.” Obi-wan begged. “As soon as we’re in the clear.”
Haja’s gaze flickered between yours and Obi-wan's faces, and it was the most serious you've ever seen the man in the short time you knew him.
“You have my word,” he promised. “Although, I know the words of a liar and a fake jedi may not mean much to you.”
“It means everything to us,” You placed a hand on his chest and you watched as Haja’s face softened at your words.
“Go get your things, I'll go talk to Leia.”
🖾
You were putting medical supplies in your bag when Roken walked in, holding something brown in his hands as he walked up to you and Obi-wan. There were no words spoken as he handed Obi-wan the object he was holding, once you could see the line of dashes you sniffled and gently ran your hands over the holster Tala had used in her final moments. The leather wasn't too damaged, just some scuff marks and scratches that could be repaired. You glanced up at Roken and mouthed a silent thank you, not wanting to break the moment of silence for the person you all lost. Roken pursed his lips in acknowledgment before he left the two of you alone.
Looking back down at the holster you sighed, you don't have a blaster anymore and quite frankly didn't like using one but you didn't want it to go to waste if you had brought it with you and ended up dying tonight if things went the worst way possible.
“Can you teach me how to shoot?” Leia's question to Tala coming back from the depths of your memory.
“I think we should go talk to Leia now.” you whispered looking up at Obi-wan
“I agree.”
It didn't take too long to find Leia, a perk for the smaller ship you were thankful for since there weren't many places for her to hide which led you to find her in a corner with Haja kneeling in front of her, whispering in her ear while Leia looked down at her lap. You grabbed Obi-wan's hand and placed Tala’s holester in it.
“I think you should give it to her.”  Obi-wan looked slightly surprised but he clutched it tight in his hand, a silent gesture that showed you he was thankful for the opportunity. Haja heard you talking and said one more thing before he stood up and left the three of you alone.
“Thank you Haja.” you said gratefully as he walked out.
You and Obi-wan walked slowly to Leia, who stubbornly kept her gaze on the floor as she refused to even look at the both of you.
“You said you'd take me home.” she said, bitterly.
“I wish that we could, Leia.” Obi-wan said regretfully. “Really I do.”
Obi-wan thought for a moment before he spoke again.
“Please tell your father we tried.”
Obi-wan kneeled on the ground and held out Talas' holster, handing it to Leia. she ran her small hands over the material slowly.
“Roken found it before we got out, she would have wanted you to have it.”
“It's empty.” she observed and you held back the urge to laugh as Obi-wan rolled his eyes.
“Well, I wasn't gonna give you a blaster, Leia. you're ten years old.”
He sighed.
“But you won't always be.”
You kneeled down next to Obi-wan and put your hand on Leia's leg and squeezed it gently to grab her attention. When she finally looked up at you, and you ignored the slight sting behind your eyes as you stared at her. The reality of leaving her alone and this being possibly the last time you saw your niece crashing down at you at once. Your mouth opening and closing repeatedly trying to find the words to explain what you wanted to say to her but your mind came up short. You stopped trying to talk when she jumped down from where she was sitting and came to hug you, freezing for a moment before you melted into the touch and wrapping your arms around her small frame tightly, your cheek resting on the top of her head as you sighed.
You wanted to remember every feeling of this hug, just in case it was your last. After a few more moments you forced yourself to pull away from her strong grip, and kissed her forehead.
You watched bittersweetly as she jumped into Obi-wan's arms next, his arms wound tight around her just like you did moments ago and closed his eyes for a second. When she pulled away from him she looked at both of you with pleading eyes.
“Come back…Please.” she whispered.
You and Obi-wan hesitated, it was unfair of you to promise something like that when you were so unsure on how this was going to play out, you didn't want to give her false hope.
But you couldn't say no to her, no matter how hard you tried.
“I promise.” You and Obi-wan said together.
You prayed desperately you would be able to keep that promise.
🖾
You and Obi-wan split off from each other, going to one side of the medium sized hangar below the ship as Roken prepared the dropship. You wanted to meditate to clear your mind before you left while Obi-wan attempted to speak to Qui-jon.
Obi-wan was prepared to die if it came to it, giving his life to fix a wrong he had a part in to do what he could to fix a trail of death and destruction that has been carved in the large expanse of the galaxy over the last ten years. However, you were not prepared to lose Obi-wan or die at the hands of someone you knew long ago. No, not at all.
You were terrified.
You never questioned the Jedi when you were in the temple. the training, the robes, the almost dehumanizing set of rules in place that have been embroidered so deeply into you it could've been visible on your skin. You always believed you were the one that needed to change, the Jedi had this practice in place because they were good and if you messed up then you deserved punishment from the council themselves, and you as well as Obi-wan stood by as they broke Anakin down and manipulated him as they told him the same rhetoric they told you and Obi-wan and hundreds before you.
Flashes of memories came to mind as you stood in the hangar of the ship, chances to make a difference, to stand up for a kid who was claimed to be the chosen one but was never given any choices of his own. A basic human right stripped away in the name of protecting peace and bringing balance to the force.
Anakin, Obi-wan, as well as yourself lost a freedom you never got to experience due to the jedi order, and even when it crumbled to the ground like a pile of sand facing a gust of wind the reprecisions of the choices you've made and the jedi order played a direct hand into giving the galactic empire its power which led you hiding away for ten years as you were hunted down for something you didn't ask to be apart of. The fear of being found and the unhealed trauma you and Obi-wan experienced held you back from truly living for yourselves and for each other.
You wanted to live in peace with him. You wanted to love Obi-wan to the point he would feel suffocated in the best way possible, to kiss him, to hug him, to bicker, to give him a part of you no one else would receive and vice versa.
You wanted to heal.
And now that the chance to do any of those things were at stake and you were scared for what is going to come next, scared to face the result of many regrets.
“You okay?”
You turned around and saw Roken, his arms crossed as he leaned against the wall. Nodding as you pressed the heels of your hands into your eyes as if you could force the tears back into your tear ducts, clearing your throat you looked back at him.
“Yeah, I will be.” a lie filled with hope slipped out. “The dropship ready?”
Roken nodded.
“I'm about to let Obi-wan know, figured I'd grab you first.”
“Lead the way then.”
You followed Roken to the otherside of the hangar where Obi-wan was in silence, hoping once you saw him his presence would calm you down enough for you to be able to support Obi-wan in any way he needed.
He was sitting on a supply crate, holding his lightsaber in his hands as he inspected it with unease, Most likely trapped in his own thoughts just as you were moments ago.
“Are you ready?” Roken asked him as you walked over to him, your body gravitating to his side like an unknown force was pulling you. “The dropships ready.” Obi-wan stood up, clipping his lightsaber to his belt.
“You don't have to do this, you know.” Roken said, giving one more shot at convincing the two of you to stay. “We can still fix the drive!”
“I have to go.” Obi-wan said.
Roken shook his head and stared at him for a moment.
“It's not about us, is it?” he asked. “You want to do it, it's about you and him.”
A larger explosion shook the ship hard, making you grab Obi-wan's shoulder to balance, you looked at Roken with pleading eyes.
“Keep them safe.”
“Keep yourselves safe too.”
“Roken,” Obi-wan called out. “There are not many leaders left, but people follow you…don't stop.”
Roken smirked and shook his head.
“I'm just getting started.”
  🖾
Obi-wan set a path to the nearest planet in the outer rim, not wanting to risk going back to Jabiim where the possibility of imperials were still there. Even now he expertly avoided the shots aimed at your ship, dogging and rolling with ease. You watched out the window as the large imperial ship stopped following Rokens transport.
“Entering the atmosphere.” Obi-wan said.
Your hands curled around the armrests of the co-pilot's chair as the ship rattled roughly as you approached the planet. The next minute of rough turbulence made you hold your breath before it smoothed out and you could make out the terrain of the planet below you. The sky held a dark bluish tint above you with murky gray clouds casted out making it darker than it already was, all around were pillars of rocks tall enough they reminded you of the tall buildings of Coruscant.
Obi-wan landed the ship in a small circle of clear land and powered down the ship, his fingers moving quickly across the control pad turning off the engine. You unbuckle your seatbelt and stand up and look over your shoulder at Obi-wan. He stood up and shrugged off his robe, a loud chirping noise came from his pocket as he pulled out the object and held it up to his face.
Lola beeped excitedly at him and you and Obi-wan looked up at each other and smiled, of course Leia would find a way to comfort you both even without her being present. Obi-wan handled the small droid with care and gently placed her on the dashboard, placed his robe on the pilot's chair, and took a calming breath and opened the door.
“Obi-wan.” you called out quickly, he turned to look at you with concern. “I love you.”
You watched his face soften and he reached his hand out and rested it on your cheek.
“I love you too, starlight.”
Nothing else had to be said, you will be happy if your final words to him were those.
A warm breeze hit your skin as the hatch door lowered, your eyes held a hard gaze at the tall rocks surrounding you as you focused your mind on the target of the soon to be fight and not your emotions. It didn’t matter if it was Anakin or Vader, only one side will make it off this planet tonight.
And you will fight until there is nothing left to ensure it was the two of you.
But you could still feel the anger, fear, and sorrow building inside of you. The control of your darkest emotions had lessened greatly since the fight on mapuzo and the fear of slipping even deeper scared you.
You weren't sure if you could stay in the light and fight Anakin at the same time.
Reaching for Obi-wan’s hand you gripped it tightly, the force of it making him look over at you in worry. He squeezed back with even more force than you did and for a moment everything else drained away.
Then you saw a ship enter the atmosphere and you were dragged back to reality.
Sucking in a deep breath you allowed Obi-wan to drop your hand as the two of you walked down the ramp and far away from the ship to prevent any potential damage. Your boots crunched loudly on the rocky terrain below you as a cold wind swept up your gray vest. You watched in silence as his ship grew closer and closer until it landed in front of you.
The hatch to Anakins ship opened and your hand went to the hilt of your lightsaber as a cacophony of modulated breathing filled the air as he descended down the ramp, a silhouette of black slowly coming toward you like a reaper.
Planting your feet firmly in the ground, you rolled your shoulders, hoping your  false confident stance will turn into real confidence. Your eyes flickered to Obi-wan, his blue orbs looking like a stormy gray under the dark sky as you watched his jaw tighten under the weight of his teeth as Anakin began coming towards you. You gripped your lightsaber hard enough you felt the stinging bite of the groves in the metal go into the skin of your hand as the man in black stopped a mere couple feet in front of you.
“Have you come to destroy me Obi-wan?
The blue light from Obi-wan's saber then quickly illuminated the air around you a rich blue as  Obi-wan raised his arm in position.
“I will do what I must.”
“Then you will die!” Anakin's modulated voice bellowed as the crimson red light from his lightsaber  tainted the air around you, as he moved quickly to jam his blade into Obi-wan's jugular. You parried the blow and swung up from under and knocked your saber against his and rolled to avoid Obi-wan's strike the kickup of dust getting in your eyes as you stood and spun your saber in your hands before changing your grip to stab him in the back, the heat of your blade burned a hole into his cape before Anakin sidestepped away from you and grabbed the back of Obi-wan's neck, lighting him off the ground before throwing him at your feet.
Obi-wan recovered swiftly and rolled onto his feet and yanked you behind him  and blocked the attack as he went for both of your heads.
You and Obi-wan knew how Anakin fought and he knew how the both of you fought which created a repetitive game of attacks that forced the three of your further into the rocky terrain of pillars and gravel below your boots leaving you unsteady as lightsaber created a rainfall of sparks as the grinding of mineral surrounding you as Obi-wan shoved Anakin back until Obi-wan raised his hand and used the force to try to throw a rock down on Anakin's head.
Anakin easily caught the rock's weight as the two fought for control before he forced pushed the rock over your heads making shatter on impact once it landed on the ground.
“Your strength has returned.” Anakin mocked before his helmet turned to you. “But the weakness remains!” he shouted before picking up a boulder and throwing it at you, you sliced through the rock and covered your head as the pieces landed behind you.
You watched as Anakin slammed his forearm into Obi-wan's nose and the loud crack that followed, the quick blight of pain allowed him to  sweep rocks under Obi-wan making him land on his back. You ran for but went stiff as he used one hand to keep you back as Obi-wan scrambled to get footing Anakin slammed his other hand on the ground, quickly quaking and cracking before a sinkhole formed, swallowing Obi-wan.
“That is why you'll always lose!”
“No!” you screamed.
You watched in horror as boulder after boulder was thrown in after Obi-wan until the sound of his screams were buried under the rocks.  Suddenly you felt your legs get pulled to the ground and your back hit the gravel beneath you as he began to drag you with the force. Shards of rock and dirt tore the fabric of your tunic and went into your back as you dug your nails into the solid earth below you to hold yourself back.
Once you were at Anakin's feet you felt the tip of his boot slam into your stomach, you gagged at the force of air leaving you as dark spots filled your vision. You didn't have time to think before you were dragged up  a rock and shoved against it, your skull bouncing off the hard matter as you and Anakin's helmet were just a few mere inches apart.
“Did you truly think you two could defeat me?” the modulated voice hissed with detest.
You gasped and struggled in the tight grasp of his robotic hand, the warmth of blood ran down the back of your neck.
“You have failed.” he pointed out
Adrenaline was the only thing keeping you moving, the wheeze’s from your throat loud as the pressure around your throat grew.
“I have seen your potential, Y/n” He said. “Join me and you will no longer be a failure to people. You can be powerful and feared.”
You let out a weak laugh and shook your head.
“I would much rather be a failure trying to do the right thing than to be feared by doing something wrong.” you choked out.
Lifting your leg as high as you could, you planted your foot on the chest plate of the suit and pushed him back causing him to stumble and lose his grip on you, you fell to your feet.
It's been too long since you had to actually calculate and analyze someone in combat and it showed. You were reacting and not thinking through your next moves. If Master Stass had seen it you would have been ripped a new one.
“Focus Y/N, what is his weakness?” you asked yourself. Stumbling forward you truly looked at Vader for the first time, not as the man you once knew but who he was now.
And he was Large
That meant he was slow, his prosthetic limbs also didn't help with that either. All you had to do was be quicker and be relentless,  give him no room to breathe let alone react.
Grabbing your lightsaber you began to sprint, pumping your legs as fast as they could go you jumped and landed on Vader's back. You slammed the hilt of your lightsaber over and over into his helmet. Forcing your anger and sorrow into every hit and not stopping when you heard a crack.
Vader's gloved hand reached up and yanked you over his shoulders by your wrist and threw you into the ground below. You activated your lightsaber and slashed at a boulder, and quickly used the force to slam it into his chest making him stumble back. Shooting your hand out, you force pulled him back to you and spun your saber and shoved the hilt into the underside of his jaw, Vader grunted in pain as you slammed your boot into his stomach.
You were enjoying it, your anger growing and fueling your muscles to slam hit after hit into him and you grinned when you were able to slash a cut across his armored chest. It was service level but the heat from it alone had to burn the already charred flesh underneath.
But Vader grew tired of your attacks and was able to grab ahold of the nape of your neck he pushed you face first into one of the large boulders and then hauled you backwards before he shoved you forward again. You face smacking the rocks until you hear a crack in your nose.
You let out a pained shout and when he went to smack you into the rock a third time the ground below began to rumble and shift beneath you.
The ground crumbled as an explosion of rocks exploded from the ground revealing Obi-wan climbing out of the hole he was buried in and going straight to Anakin. Taking advantage of Obi-wan reemergence you swung up and slammed your fist into his throat.  Anakin choked for a moment before he refocused on Obi-wan, His lightsaber lighting up the determined look on his face as he slashed his weapon at his former best friend, you watched in amazement as Obi-wan maneuvered quickly around Anakin and parried every attack sent down on him. The clashes of light turned the air around them a bright purple luminating the fight better than the natural glum sky above them ever could.
Obi-wan forced pushed Anakin into a rock a few feet away and you flinched at the pained shout he let out as he fell to his knees. Obi-wan raised his arms above his head and rocks lifted in the air and began to plummet them at him. Anakin slowly worked himself up from the constant blows and threw himself at Obi-wan, tackling him to the ground.
You ignored the rubble that was embedded into the skin of your back and  sprinted towards the two of them, the limp in your step slowing you down more than you wanted to admit as you made your way to Obi-wan who recovered quickly from his fall and was standing again. His gaze shifted to you for a moment, eyes wide in adrenaline and Anakin followed his gaze that soon landed on you. Flinching when he raised his hand to use the force you waited for the pressure around your throat, you were too tired and too injured to focus on putting up a mental block from him but the crushing pain never came.
Opening your eyes you saw Obi-wan interlinked their hands and was shoving the hilt of his lightsaber into the box that rested on Anakin's chest repeatedly.You heard Anakin's desperate wheezes as he tired to fight back but more and more sparks shot out as  he rammed it harder and harder into his chest before force pushing him backwards and using a bolder to knock him down on his knees, Obi-wan panted before he sprinted and sliced his helmet. The metal burned orange near his head as Anakin kneeled to the ground, Obi-wan stumbled back away from him. Sweat and blood dried to his skin and beard.
Where Obi-wan saw the moment to stop you couldn't, you could end this nightmare right here and the bloodshed would be over.
You reached your hand toward Obi-wans and force pulled his lightsaber out of his hands and into yours, Obi-wan snapped his head towards you as you walked right up to Anakin's kneeling form, his head was tilted down so you couldn't see his face.
Your chest heaved as you held both lightsabers in front of his neck, the blades crossed over each other.
One move, and he would be dead.
“Y/n!” Obi-wan warned, but despite knowing you should listen to your husband you couldn't bring yourself to care.
“Was it worth it?” you seethed. “Losing everyone you loved, everything you were, for this?”
Anakin just wheezed.
The lack of response had you kick him, the force of him bringing him closer to the ground as his wheezing grew louder. You felt like you couldn't breathe, the pain was beginning to choke you and you blinked back tears and out of the corner of your eye you could see his lightsaber a couple feet away from him and you blinked.
He was unarmed.
Suddenly it was like your consciousness had gained the reins of your mind again and you realized what you were doing.
“There's still good in him.”
You've lost too much thanks to Anakin. Your freedom, your friends, your family, and your home.
You refused to lose yourself to him as well.
Deactivating the light sabers, you looked over at Obi-wan with tears in your eyes as he stepped forward and pulled you away from his former Padawan and took back his lightsaber from your shaking hands.
Then Anakin began to laugh, weak and almost breathless as he kept his head hung low.
Until he looked up at the both of you.
“Weak and pathetic.” he seethed. “Coward!”
You and Obi-wan watched in horror as half of his charred face came into the light, burned to the point his skin looked like leather leaving him almost unrecognizable.
Obi-wan lowered his lightsaber in shock at the state of his former brother.
“Anakin” Obi-wan called out softly.
You watched as Anakin stood up and you froze as bright yellow eyes burned into you like the fires on Mustafar.
You couldn't believe those eyes are the same one that held childlike wonder the first time he saw rain.
“Anakin is gone.” he said, his voice distorted from the modulator being damaged. “I am what remains.”
You watched Obi-wans teared up and let out a shaky sigh, his face crumbling in guilt.
“I'm sorry, Anakin.” Obi-wan cried. “For all of it.”
“I am not your failure Obi-wan.” Anakin said. “You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker.”
A twisted grin pulled at the burnt skin of Anakin's cheeks.
“I did. The same way I will destroy you and her.” he spat.
You ignored the tears that burned at your eyes, threatening to fall as Obi-wan shook his head.
“Then our friend is truly dead.”
You watched the man in front of you sway as he held his lightsaber, ready to fight again.
Obi-wan put away his lightsaber and you quickly follow suit, this fight was over. And the truth was the man in front of them both now was someone who deserved to die but despite everything you or Obi-wan couldn't bring yourself to do it.
You bit the inside of your cheek  as you looked at the man who used to be Anakin Skywalker, the little boy you held at night, helped train, cooked for, and loved like he was your own blood.
That little boy was gone and what remained in front of you was a stranger you resented.
 “Goodbye…Darth.” Obi-wan said before he turned and looked at you and without a single word he put your shoulder around him and supported your weight as you both walked away together.
Beaten, bloody, and exhausted.
Together.

Warnings: Violence, injuries, signs of PTSD (dissociation), flashbacks (shut up I have a problem), light fluff??, idk I think all the serious warnings are out of the way.
Authors Note: We’re getting closer to the end!! not that close tbh I plan to make a chapter or two more before its over and since each chapter is about 20 pages.... lets just see there will be more of Y/n and Obi-wan! but if you are liking the series so far and want to be on the taglist please comment down below!
Prologue - Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
“You're a great Warrior, Anakin, but your need to prove yourself is your undoing.”
You had been training with Anakin and Obi-wan at his request to learn more about fighting other force users outside the familiar techniques of his master and you happily obliged. Anakin and you were similar in many ways; stubborn and lacking some emotional stability but fierce and loyal almost to a fault. Anakin kept you on your toes, the padawan unpredictable to the point it created a vortex of adrenaline and joy to engage in a duel with.
The Coruscanti sun was high in the bright blue sky as a light breeze blew in through the open training area as Obi-wan stood across from Anakin, holding his young apprentice's lightsaber after successfully disarming him.
“Until you overcome that,” Obi-wan said, deactivating the lightsaber and handing it back to Anakin. “A padawan you will still be.”
You saw Anakin's face fall at his words, although you know Obi-wan's words rang true, Anakin has been training very hard and it seemed Obi-wan could not bring himself to praise the younger boy even though it's very clear he is seeking it.
Obi-wan smiled as Anakin patted his shoulder as they walked up to you,  leaning against the wall with a content face as Obi-wan came up to you.
“Care for some tea, Y/n?” Obi-wan offred and you shook your head.
“Not today Obi-wan,” you declined politely. “But I would like to steal your padawan for a moment, if you don't mind.” Obi-wan and Anakin shared a look before you chuckled.
“I just want to give Anakin a few tips, nothing serious I promise.”
“Ah, I see.” Obi-wan nodded, ever so full of poise. “That is fine with me, I will see you both later I assume?”
You and Anakin nodded and Obi-wan shot Anakin a look that screamed ‘Behave’ before he left the room, you turned to Anakin and waved him over.
“What tips did you want to give me, Master Y/n?” Anakin asked, not hiding the dread on his face as he prepared for another lecture.
“Besides the fact your ponytail is coming loose? Nothing.” you said, placing your hands on the taller boy's shoulder and turning him around. Taking out the stretched out tie holding the grown out honey brown locks, finger combing the slight tangles in his hair before retying his hair back.
“Much better.” you hummed. “These ties are absolutely vile, I’ll give you some of the ones I made the next time I see you.”
“I'm sorry Master, I'm confused.” Anakin said, turning back to face you. “You have no tips for me?”
You clicked your tongue as you crossed your arms.
“I was finding Obi-wan’s tough love act a tad annoying today, so I wanted to pull you aside and tell you how good you're doing. Against Obi-wan's belief I don't think giving you a little praise for your hard work will overfeed your ego.” you teased lightly, enjoying  the slight tinge of pink bloom across his face.
You grinned at his slight embarrassment and patted his bicep.
“You are doing very well Anakin, you're much farther in your training than I was when I was your age in fact I was having almost weekly meetings with the council.”
That fact caught Anakin's attention, his brow rising  in interest ever so slightly.
“How come?”
“It took me a long time to control my emotions, I was impulsive and reacted with my heart instead of my brain more often than not and the council did not approve of me for a long time.” you shrugged.
You still did most of those things even as a master but not to the point it caught the attention of the council like it did when you were younger.
“What i'm trying to say Ani, is that i'm very proud of you and the man you are becoming and no matter how much Obi-wan acts like he doesnt think the same it is in vain because he is also very proud of you.” you smiled at Anakin's face of doubt. “Trust me, what do you think we discuss over our daily tea breaks?”
“Perhaps the very obvious feelings you have for each other?” Anakin teased and you scoffed when it was your turn to blush and ignore the statement
“You're on your way to becoming a wonderful Jedi, perhaps the best of us.” you said, patting a gentle hand on his young cheek.
“I- Thank you master.” Anakin stuttered out.
“No problem, shall we go watch Obi-wan's face when he finds out I stole the rest of his tea this morning?”
Anakin grinned widely.
“Absolutely.”
You woke up from your dream to a hand on your face and the soft call of your name. you blinked tiredly as your eyes adjusted to the light around the ship and saw Obi-wan crouched in front of you. His knuckles grazed gently across your face as your brain woke up.
“Hey, are we back on Jabiim?” you asked, voice groggy as you sat up.
“We’re landing right now,” he said.
On cue the ship clanked loudly on the ground as it landed, jostling you a little bit as you stood up. You saw Leia standing behind Obi-wan, she hasn't left his side much since they first got on the ship, she looked up at you and waved.
“You look like you fell out of a tree.” she observed.
You frowned and looked at Obi-wan, his lips quirked up just slightly as he reached up and smoothed out your hair that had fallen out of your braid.
“Is that better, Princess?” you grumbled.
“Yes it is.”
You heard the hatch to the ship open and the three of you followed Roken out, you could hear the hushed whispers of the others outside.
“We got her.” Roken announced as Obi-wan led Leia down the ramp,  you followed suit as the crowd let out relieved sighs, happy to know the empire didn't find out about their plans. Tala went straight to Ned-B and Sully went to her friends, but you recognized a peculiar face in the large crowd.
“Haja!” you exclaimed as he walked up to your small group.
“Haja, what are you doing here?” Obi-wan asked.
Haja shrugged.
“I had nowhere else to go, right after I saw you, I got into a fight with that scary inquisitor lady and now I'm wanted by the empire.” he smiled slyly. “But now, I know what it feels like being a real jedi.”
“Not as fun as you thought, huh?” you said.
“No” Haja frowned. “It's not easy, the place has a good business opportunity though.”
You rolled your eyes and shoved him away gently.
“Don't you dare!” you called after him as he walked away.
Obi-wan urged Leia to go play with the other kids while the two of you went to speak to Roken, maneuvering around multiple people before you found Roken.
“Roken,” Obi-wan called out. “That transport, we need to get back to Alderaan.”
“Once we get all these people out of here I'll do whatever you want, they've been waiting for months. We used an old trade route to get them out but the windows are closing, we only have a few hours.”
You looked around, parents comforting their scared children, friends helping each other pack frantically, people helping the older people with anything they needed. You weren't the only people desperate to get home, to somewhere safe.
“Of course Roken.” you said. “We’ll do anything we can to help.”
 As Roken went to help others you wandered around the small hectic base. Helping the occasional child shove one more item they insisted they needed into their small pack filled to the brim and helping Tala load the transport with food and medical supplies. The anxious shuffling from everyone's feet made the dust from the ground rise up, creating the slightest haze in the air made an annoying itch appear in the back of your throat.
When you found Obi-wan standing in front of the wall of carvings you hovered behind him slightly, watching him read the hopeful messages from formors Jedi and survivors from the last few years.
“Seeing those makes me feel a little less alone.” you said softly, coming to his side.
Obi-wan looked over at you before he turned back to the wall, his piercing blue eyes scanning over the carvings as if they held a secret in them.
“The light will fade, but it's never forgotten.” he muttered to himself and you would never say it outloud but the words reminded you of him. The light in his eyes had faded drastically since everything had happened, you didn't blame him for that and you still loved him dearly but you would never forget the man he was.
You were sure he thought the same about you as well.
A loud rumble above you pulled you from your thoughts, looking up you saw the doors that allowed the transport to come in and out close.
“Oh no,” you said with dread.
You and Obi-wan ran back to everyone else, people now scrambling around frantically more than before.
“What's happening?” Obi-wan asked.
“The controls aren't responding.” Sully said panicked.
“And an imperial destroyer just arrived in orbit above us.” Roken added.
“She must've tracked us.” Tala said and you shook your head.
“It's not her, it's Vader.” you swallowed.
“He wants us to surrender.”
“If we surrender, he'll kill us all.” Sully said.
“No, he’ll attack next. He hasn't the patience for a seige.” Obi-wan corrected.
“How do you know?” Roken asked.
You and Obi-wan shared a worried look.
Because Anakin Skywalker never practiced patience during a single day of his Jedi career and you were sure that trait did not burn away with him when he became a sith. That was the only thing that was predictable about him in battle.
Obi-wan watched you and Anakin now, slowly circling each other like a lion watching its prey around the rounded shape of the room. You kept yourself relaxed, keeping a calm stride in front of the younger boy but kept your lightsaber ready. While Anakin was practically vibrating with energy, his legs twitching as if they were warming up to attack or run.
For Anakin it was always an attack.
“There's your first mistake, Anakin.” you pointed out. “Your presentation.”
Anakin raised a brow as he continued to sidestep.
“What about it?”
“Anxious and defensive, even before anyone strikes and even when you always strike first.”
“I do not.”
You could hear Obi-wan's faint snort behind you.
“You do, you hate anticipation.” you said. “The first hit can tell you a lot about a person and their instincts,  how they attack and how they handle themselves; The first strike provides a small advantage but if you wait and then strip those advantages? Better odds at winning.”
“Do you truly believe a real enemy will wait to attack? Come on Master Y/n even that is foolish thinking.” Anakin replied.
“It's not hesitation as much as it's calculation, as a former fool I can confidently say fools rush in and the wise wait.”
You stopped walking, and dropped your guarded stance, your lightsaber coming to your side now, and you saw that twitch in his leg again and you sighed.
Every single word you just said went in one ear and out the other.
Right on cue Anakin came at you, arms raised with his lightsaber above his head so he can swing down at you. Stepping under his arms, you appeared behind him, your legs moving quickly to do a back kick, your foot planting right into the center of his spine and making him stumble.
“Right there!” you exclaimed, bringing your leg down as Anakin turned back to you. “You aimed high, struck quickly and at my head. Now I know your advantage is in your upper body strength. While you know none of mine!” you activated your lightsaber and blocked Anakin's attempt at a sudden attack. Your lightsabers crackled excitedly as you shoved him back. He reacted quickly and swung out his blade in a wide arc, using the force to elevate your jump. You leapt over his blade, your feet pounded loudly on the ground when you landed.
“Anakin, you're not listening!” You scolded him.
Obi-wan turned to the worried crowd, his shoulders straightened as the familiar look of the confidant negotiator; calm, eloquent, and steadfast. A glimpse of the younger Obi-wan you knew years ago shining through for a moment.
“Everyone,” Obi-wan spoke loudly, grabbing the attention of the others. “Everyone, I understand you're scared. The empire will attack soon. they're stronger than us, better equipped, better trained. If we try to fight them we will not survive.”
Okay, you could've been wrong about the old Obi-wan shining through, his attempt at a speech making you grow more uneasy than before.
“But we do not need to fight them. We just need to hold them off long enough to get you all out.”
Obi-wan turned to Roken.
“Roken, how much time do you need to override the doors?”
“Three, four hours.”
“You have one.” Obi-wan asserted. “And block every other remote access.” Obi-turned his attention back to the crowd.
“Everyone else, we're gonna lock down every other entrance in this facility. If we defend our position together…Then by the time they get inside, we’ll be gone.”
Roken clapped his hands together once.
“You heard him. let's move it people!”
You went to help the others seal the doors around the facility for the next hour, using the singing heat from your lightsaber to weld the metal to the doors. When you were welding the last piece to one of the main access points a large shot slammed against it, the force of it denting the mental slightly as you stumbled back.
You ran to Obi-wan, Tala, and Roken.
“It's a heavy gun, they're trying to blast through the outside door.”
“Roken, we need those doors open.” Tala said as Roken tapped on his datapad. The gears above you strained loudly as it tried to separate but ultimately groaned to a stop.
“That was underwhelming.” Haja groaned.
“Wonderful input Haja!” you exclaimed sarcastically at Haja who pointed at the vents.
“Has anyone gone into the vents to see what was going on?”
“No, last I checked were a bunch of fully grown adults who wouldn't even be able to fit halfway if we wanted to!”
“I'm going to need a ladder!” Leia said, walking confidently up to Roken.
“It's not playtime right now, Princess.” He dismissed and you were about to interject when Obi-wan beat you to the punch.
“Do as she asks.” Obi-wan said.
Roken looked at Obi-wan with a mixture between shock and annoyance.
“You trust me? I trust her.”
You smirked at that and looked over at Roken.
“You heard the man, get her a ladder!”
You kneeled down in front of Leia while she pulled the gloves Obi-wan got her out of her pocket. Reaching up you dusted a smudge of dirt on her face and held her face between your hands.
“Be careful, Leia.”
“Y/n.” Obi-wan said, catching your attention. Looking over your shoulder he showed you the blinking hologram notification. Frowning, you left Leia and went to Obi-wan who told Haja to watch Leia before the two of you ran off the listen to the message in private.
  🖾
“...If I don't hear from you soon I will head to Tatooine, Owen will need help with the boy. I pray you're safe Obi-wan and Y/n, all three of you.”
The hologram faded leaving you in silence as you stood by the bacta tank, Obi-wan finding comfort in his nervous habit of stroking his beard while you picked at the skin around your nails. You felt bad about leaving Bail in the dark while you were trying to get his daughter home, but it was too much effort to send constant holograms out while you're being hunted by the empire and now the possibility of Luke being hunted after left you with an unpleasant taste in your mouth.
“Is everything all right?” Tala asked, walking up to the two of you. Obi-wan gave her an uneasy smile.
“It will be.” he tried to say with confidence but the nervous demeanor of him crossing his arms and looking at the ground told a different story.
“You know, I was following orders on Gareal. The empire had said it was a round up of people not paying their taxes for the cause…They lied.” Tala said bitterly. “There were four families, all force sensitive. We gathered them up-I didn't know who they were. I didn't know what the inquisitors would do.”
“Tala-” you tried to comfort.
“Fourteen people died that day, six of them children. I couldn't do anything to help them so now I do this.” Tala reached for her holster and pulled the blaster out, inside of it you can see tiny dashes on the lining, white and short in a long line. “One for everyone I get through.”
You looked at her with sadness, but also with understanding. Tala understood the pain of watching innocent children die, unable to do anything except stand by and watch in horror as people don't get to live another day while you get to go to bed at night.
“You were right, Ben, some things you can't forget but you can fight and make them better.” Tala said with such earnestness it comforted you. Maybe it was possible to move on from this.
You stepped forward and pulled her in a tight hug, your arms squeezing her tightly and rocked her back and forth slightly. Tala was stiff in your arms, her body acting unnatural as if she hasn't received a hug from a human in a long time.
The hug ended when Roken ran in
“Were In trouble!”
You ran back to the main area, explosions making crumbles of rock fall from the ceiling, landing in your hair as you looked around. Men, women, and even children were armed with blasters and rifles, some even holding ballistic shields in front of the smaller children as another explosion shook the ground again.
“I don't know how long it's going to hold, do we have a plan B here?” Roken said, loading up his rifle.
“We’re going to have to slow them down.” Obi-wan said. “Tell the inquisitor I want to talk.”
“No.” You said sternly. “Tell her we want to talk.” you gave Obi-wan a look that said loud and clear not to fight you on this. He nodded, remembering your deal.
Together, as a team.
“We’ll buy as much time as we can.” Obi-wan told Roken.
🖾
You and Obi-wan walked out to the outside door, unsure if the third sister was standing on the other side of the metal or not. Leaning forward you pressed your ear against it, trying to listen for anyone on the other side.
“If this is you stalling for time, it won't work.” the third sister said quietly. “Lord Vader will have you at any cost.”
You moved quickly, trying to secretly work your way into her mind with the force. Searching for anything that can give you a hand at a negotiation or even a distraction, but her walls were tall, almost unreachable as you digged around.
“You mean, Anakin.” Obi-wan corrected. “You knew who Vader was, how did you know that?”
The only response he received was silence.
“Vader would have kept that hidden, and you're too young to have known him.”
Even as you put all your focus looking into the third sister's mind, you could feel a faint wave of realization roll off from Obi-wan's returning force signature.
“Unless….Unless you were there.”
“I doesn't matter where I was-”
“The night of Order 66, you were a youngling.” Obi-wan exclaimed. “That's how you know, you saw him.”
“Stop.” she muttered.
“Anakin killed the others.”
“Stop.” she repeated.
“He killed the other younglings but somehow you survived-”
“Enough!.” she shouted, desperation slipping through.
There, that single second of emotion slipped through giving you enough time to grasp onto one thing.
Reva, that was her name.
“We thought he was there to help us.” Reva began. “I tried to help them but I couldn't, I was too weak. I played dead until he left and hid with the bodies, felt them go cold…they were the only family I knew.” she shuddered. “And he slaughtered them.”
“You're not serving him, are you?” Obi-wan asked. “You're hunting him, let us help you.”
“Why would I ever trust you?” she spat
“Because we want the same thing.”
“Do we, Obi-wan?” he asked. “Do you really want Anakin dead?”
No, he didn't. Even though Anakin had turned into the very thing you had all devoted your lives to destroy; Murderers, traitors, the sith. Despite it all, you knew Obi-wan still loved him. He loved the child he basically raised, his little brother.
And so help the Maker you did too.
“Where were you? While he was killing my friends?” Reva asked desperately. “Why didn't you stop him? He was your Padawan!”
“Because he wasn't there.” you snapped. “He wasn't there, Reva. But I was.”
“How do you know my name?” she asked wearily.
“You’d be surprised how weak the mind becomes when you let emotions take over, Reva.” you whispered, knowing the truth of your statement all too well. “He was on a mission on Utapau and I was supposed to go with him but the Jedi council had to take care of  Palpatine so I was tasked to stay at the temple with the younglings and help teach and watch over them. I sensed Anakin there and I thought he was waiting for the council to come back like Mace Windu had instructed him so I ignored his presence, then Order 66 happened and I tried saving as many kids as possible but I was outmanned.” You took a shuddering breath. “So If you're going to blame anyone, blame me for not doing more that night not Obi-wan.”
You pressed your hand onto the metal, and stepped closer.
“Listen to us, Reva. Let us help you.”
“I don't need your help.” she spoke dangerously low, enunciating each word. “I. Don't. Need. Anyone.”
“You won't stop him alone.” Obi-wan replied.
“You have no idea what I've done alone.”
A red lightsaber crackled loudly as it came through the metal, you had just enough time to yank Obi-wan back but not without the red blade grazing your thigh. You let out a pained shout and stumbled back, your hand hovering over the new hole created in your pants that showed angry red and already blistering skin.
Obi-wan pulled you behind him once the metal you helped welded to the door not to long ago fall to the ground as Reva cut a large hole out. The doors open to reveal a very pissed off Reva and a battalion of stormtroopers. Obi-wan reacted fast, swiftly force pushing her back far enough she was in the middle of the dirt area outside, the blaster shots rang out immediately after that ignoring the burn on your leg you pulled out your lightsaber and deflected a couple shots.
“Fall back to second position!” you shouted over the noise.
You and Obi-wan focused on defense, using most of your focus to deflect blaster shots and pushing back on the stormtroopers who invaded the small room, while the others behind you focused on taking out as many troopers as possible.
The imperial forces were far much stronger than your little band of rebels, the more they swarmed, the more people dropped dead, and the further they pushed you back.
“GO! GO! GO!” you shouted with Tala, directing the others to retreat as safely as possible.
“No mercy! Seal them in!” Reva yelled.
You watched Obi-wan come to help a woman who fell beside you as you moved in front of them, deflecting blaster shots left and right until he was able to drag her back to safety. Ned-B was at the front, his large metal form providing a makeshift shield as he provided additional defense by shooting stormtroopers you and Tala couldn't hit.
The scream of pain Tala let out pulled you from the focus you had, her body thumping on the ground.
“Tala!” You and Obi-wan shouted.
“Wipe them out!” Reva commanded.
You limped back as Revas’s forces pushed harder than before, not allowing you to go to aid Tala. The only thing you and Obi-wan were able to do was frantically fight off the troopers as Ned-B hit the ground in front of Tala.
“Come on, Tala!” You shouted. “Hold on just a little bit longer!”
You stabbed a trooper in the chest, kicking your injured leg up and slamming your foot in their chest. They stumbled backward into another trooper as Obi-wan shoved his lightsaber through both of them. When you looked at Tala again you didn't realize how far the two of you were shoved back.
Tala looked at the both of you, eyes teary and wide with fear as she raised her arm. She raised her arm and you took notice of the thermal detonator in her grip.
“Go!” she shouted as she raised her other arm, holding a blaster.
“No!” You screamed as she shot her blaster, the shot hitting the control panel perfectly.
As the doors began to close she smiled sadly at the both of you, a few tears falling from her eyes.
“May the force be with you.”
Before you couldn't even respond or act, the door closed, and a loud explosion followed soon after.
“Tala!?” you shouted. Gimping over to the doors, you dropped your lightsaber and wedged your fingers in the small crack of the doors. Grunting as you tried to pull them apart, but to no avail the doors didn’t budge.
“Dank farnik!” you cursed slamming your hands on the metal as your frustration grew. You felt an arm go under your arms, a supportive makeshift crutch as you were pulled back from the doors where your friend laid just behind.
“The doors are closing, come on.” Obi-wan said, force pulling your saber off the ground as he guided the both of you to where the others were. Once the both of you made it on the other side you both slumped against the wall, desperately trying to catch your breaths from your heaving chest.
“Please tell me we're close.” Roken asked Haja.
“Leia, you close?” Haja called up at the vent.
“Working on it!” the littles girl's voice piped.
Obi-wan looking around, a crestfallen look burrowed into the fineline features of his face. You knew that looked far too well.
Defeat.
“What's wrong, what is it?” Roken pestred.
“It's over.” Obi-wan breathed out and you both turned to Roken.
“We’re going back.” Obi-wan said, but Roken shoved him back.
“You can't quit! I fought for too long, you can't just throw that away!” Roken yelled. “It won't make a difference, they want all of us.”
“Vader wants the both of us.” You interjected firmly.
“If you surrender, she died for nothing!” he spat. “He’ll keep coming.”
“That's why we have to stop him!”
Haja stepped forward concerned.
“You're going to fight him?”
“He expects us to surrender, he knows we’ll do anything we can to protect these people.” Obi-wan said, pointing to the crowd.
“You'll be on your own.”
“No,” Obi-wan said walking up to Haja, pulling out his blaster, lightsaber, and holoprojector Bail gave him. “I have her,” he said, referring to you. “Look out for Leia, will you?”
You tossed Haja your lightsaber as well.
“Haja, you protect that little girl's life like it was your own.” you demanded.
Roken looked at the two of you in disbelief.
“Want to tell me how you guys are going to fight without a weapon.”
“There are other ways to fight.” Obi-wan stated.
🖾
Once the doors opened in front of you, you and Obi-wan raised your hands in surrender and walked out slowly as two stormtroopers seized the both of you. Each grabbing your wrists and pinning them behind your backs as they shoved you forward. You gritted your teeth as the air hit the severe burn just right on the singed skin.
As the two stormtroopers guided you to Reva, you kept sharing glances with Obi-wan. Providing each other with a silent comfort from the unknown that awaits outside.
When the outside doors opened, you squinted at the brightness compared to the dark caves from inside. When your eyes adjusted to the light you saw Reva pacing back and forth axiosuly, but stopped when she saw the two of you emerge. The stormtroopers pointed their blasters at you as you were led right in front of Reva, her eyes lit up dangerously as she raised her arms like she was summoning something.
“Inform Lord Vader, The Kenobi’s are ours.” she said smugly. She gave the troopers a single nod and both you and Obi-wan were shoved to the ground on your knees. The uneven ground digging uncomfortably into your knees as you looked up at Reva with a glare and a hard reset jaw.
“He's on his way.” Reva said. “You're going to die soon.”
“You're not bringing him to us.” you whispered.
“We’re bringing him to you.” Obi-wan finished slowly. “This isn't over yet.”
Revas small smile dropped as she leaned down in front of Obi-wan, her dark brown eyes boring into Obi-wans.
“There are families back there. Children. Are you going to let him do it again? What did he do to you?” Obi-wan asked.
“We could end this, Reva. together.” You pleaded. “Don’t let him take another child's life.”
Reva shuffled on her feet and looked away, her eyes avoiding the both of you.
“What makes you think he won't see it coming”
“Because all he’ll see is me.” Obi-wan said.
Which was the truth, although Anakin had his eyes set on you, especially after your fight with him on Mapuzo but most of his rage was directed at Obi-wan and the fact he was the reason Anakin was now derformed and disabled due to their battle on Mustafar. He wanted revenge so badly you could almost taste his anger for Obi-wan whenever he was near.
Reva did not respond, just simply walking away back to her original place by the stormtroopers and turned. He raised her arm and gestured to the both of you and you felt gloved hands grab your wrist again and yank you off the ground. You casted Reva one last look before you walked back into the caves.
As soon as the doors closed, you shoved your weight back as far as you could, making the stormtrooper stumble back into the wall.  The force from your movement made the grip around the now tender leather friction burns around your wrist loose end grabbing the blaster on their hip and you shot him in the head.
Obi-wan seemed to have half the same idea as you, right when you looked over at him the stormtrooper holding him was now on the ground with the smoke from a blaster shot seeping from the hole in it's chest.
When you smacked the control panel to the landing pad open and saw the dust red hushed sky above as you and Obi-wan ran in, you almost shouted in glee. Roken spotted you and nodded.
“Everythings all set!”
You looked to your left and saw Leia coming down the letter, you dragged Obi-wan with you and kneeled on the ground clumpys, avoiding putting more weight than usual on your bad leg.
“Leia!” Obi-wan exclaimed.
She turned around and smiled at the two of you and jumped into both of your arms, both of you and Obi-wan's arms wrapping around her and meeting on the center of her back.
“Well done!” You beamed, pulling away slightly.
Leia's eyes looked around for a moment before they landed back on Obi-wan.
“Where's Tala?”
The proud smile on your face fell as you focused on the ground, you chewed on the side of your cheek.
“I'm sorry sweet girl, she didn't make it.” you whispered.
Obi-wan picked Leia up, and then helped her up from the ground.
“Come on, we have to get to the transport.”
🖾
You sensed him before you even saw him enter as you watched closely through the tiny slits on the small ship sitting behind the main transport. The menacing wave of anger and pain washing over you like a bucket of ice water through the force. When Obi-wan told you the plan to hide behind the mainship while Anakin came through seemed almost foolish, hiding in plain sight from a revenge seeking sith lord?
 you trusted Obi-wan's judgment completely.
The sound of the main transport taking off stalled loudly, as Anakin walked in. His hand strained as he forced down the approximately 200,000 ton ship down back to the ground. Your jaw drops slightly as the sound of metal ripping apart from the ship.
“Now!” Obi-wan commanded.
The ship everyone was on shot up in the making hold on to Leia tightly as you took off, not having enough room for everyone to buckle in had created a small wave of people stumbling clumsy.
You guided Leia over to where Obi-wan was and sat on the arm of his chair so Leia could sit comfortably. Your gaze went to the burn on your thigh and you winced at the now greenish substance oozing from the blisters already formed.
Just once, you wanted to do the skill your master tried so hard to teach you. Now that she was gone you wanted to make her proud.
Your hands hovered over the wound and you took a calming breath, closing your eyes. Focusing on the force around you, you guided it to the wound and held it there. Slowly you could feel it trickle over you, the skin mending together and forming a protective scab over it.
You panted at the amount of focus it drained from you before you slumped over from exhaustion and used the last of your energy to place a firm hand on Obi-wan's shoulder so you didn't fall on him. How Stass managed to do this almost daily will forever be a mystery because you felt like you were going to pass out.
“Y/n?” Obi-wan asked worriedly and you tilted your head at the noise as he dragged you in his lap, your body laying limp in his arms as you chuckled weakly.
“Baby? Whats wrong?” Obi-wan asked frantically, you were so exhausted and drained from barely healing a lousy burn it didn't even process how similar you looked to Padme the night she died. Shaky breaths, a slight smile, and barely able to keep your eyes open.
But Obi-wan did.
“I did it. My thigh, muscles heal. tired” you slurred heavily. “Tell Stass I did it.”
You passed out before you heard Obi-wan curse in relief and press his forehead against yours, holding you close.
🖾
The twinge in your hip was the first thing you noticed when you woke up, the second was Obi-wan's warm hand cradling your head against your chest.
‘Oh yeah’ you thought clearly as you opened your eyes, reamebing why you were curled up like this in the first place.
“Our hyperdrive is down, and they're right behind us.” Roken familiar voice spoke quietly.
You turned your head at that but Obi-wan's hand suddenly gripped you hard enough  you winced. Looking up at Obi-wan in confusion, you frowned at his scared face and placed your hand on his heart and could feel the his heart skip a beat.
“Obi-wan, what's wrong?” you questioned, your mind was too fuzzy with sleep and the strenuous work you just put your mind through you could feel a faint wave of fear, anger, and something savage.
That last emotion wasn't Obi-wan’s.
You and Obi-wan looked at Leia who stared back with the same amount of fear in the two of you held.
“Are you okay Obi-wan?” Roken asked.
Obi-wan seemed to come back to the present slightly, his tone distracted but he glanced at Roken and nodded.
“Yes, Thank you Roken.”
He gave you a worried look but relented and left you alone, you glanced at Leia and gave her a comforting smile.
“We’re okay, I promise. Go see if anyone needs help with anything and I'll meet up with you in a moment.”
Leia nodded and hopped off her seat and went to a small group of children. You turned back to Obi-wan who still had his hand gripping you tightly.
“Obi-wan,” you placed a hand on his chin and made him look you in the eyes. “Come back to me.”
This wasn't the first time he had dissociated like this with you, long nights in the caves he would wake up from a nightmare and his mind would shut down, a natural response to the unfair amount of trauma he had experienced.
You took deep breaths and guided him through it, your hand rubbing up and down his shoulder to help ground him. Eventually he checked back in and looked at you, his grip finally easing up.
“Whatever we just felt, we’ll figure it out.” you promised. “We always do.”
He nodded silently.
“Now can you let me go? As much as I love you holding me I feel like my hip is going to break in this position.” you chuckled.
Obi-wan raised his arms and you uncurled yourself out of his lap and stood up, shaking the leg that fell asleep gently. As you stretched out your neck and back you felt Obi-wan's warm calloused hand graze the apex of your thigh, where the much improved burn was.
“I didn't think it was going to work if i'm being honest, quite unfair that I finally managed to force heal with Stass isn't here to see it.” you said bittersweetly, sitting next to Obi-wan now.
“She would be proud.” He patted your knee as you gave a weak chuckle.
“I hope so.”
An explosion shook the ship slightly, the dim lights above you flickering before returning to normal before you could relax again a second explosion came. Roken came around the corner and pointed at Sully.
“Hyperdrive almost ready, move all power to rear shields.”
That comment made you furrow your brow in concern, if hyperdrive was almost ready it would be more work to change power gears to focus on the rear shields than to leave it until it was done. Obi-wan gave you a look and it seemed he was thinking the same thing as you.
“We’ll head to Tessen and get you out from there.” Roken said.
Standing up you headed over to Roken, arms crossed over your chest as you looked at him already knowing the answer to your question.
“We’re not gonna make it to Tessen, are we?”
“Motivators shot, power couplings are bad. I'm working on it but that shield isn't going to last forever.”
“How much time do you need?” Obi-wan asked.
Another explosion rattled the ship and the three of you looked at the roof as the lights flickered out again.
“More than we have.” Roken sighed before he went to help one of the men in control. You ran an anxious hand through your hair and looked up at Obi-wan.
“You thinking what I'm thinking?” you asked and Obi-wan sighed before nodding.
“Yeah, I am.” he looked at Leia, who was comforting a mother and child with Lola. “How do you think she’ll take it?”
Resting your chin on your hand you snorted.
“Maker, I'm not sure.”

Prologue- Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3
The moment you arrived on the transport the first thing you noticed was Leia was nowhere to be found. You limped to the pilot's area where Tala sat, you must've fractured your foot when you kicked Vader's metal forearm.
“Tala, where's Leia?”
The look of guilt on her face and the lack of response made that flare of fury spark in your bones again, you smacked a hand on the back of the pilot chair and spun her around.
“Where is Leia?” you said slowly.
“I had left her to come help you and Ben, I thought the passage was clear of anyone else when I left but when we came back she was gone and the transport was still here.” Tala explained calmly.
You stepped back, laughing in disbelief as you looked at Tala.
“You left a ten year old CHILD alone while the empire was hunting for her?!” you shouted. “Do you know how stupid that was?”
Tala opened her mouth to speak but you cut her off.
“You worked for the empire, you have to know what inhumane things they do to people and you left a child at the hands of the people who torture and kill innocent people.” your voice cracked.
Tala went to speak again but you shook your head.
“Get me and my husband to Jabiim now, the sooner Obi-wan heals the sooner we can make a plan to get Leia back.”
“I'm sorry Kilian, I truly am.” Tala apologized.
“Then prove it.”
You didn't bother to say anything else, limping back to where Obi-wan had laid and Ned-B was watching him and his levels. You went to touch his face but froze when you caught a glimpse of your face in the reflection of the window.
Your eyes, or well just one eye was yellow, the color was a large contrast compared to your other eye that held your normal color. Your hand went up to your face, fingers moving over the newly corrupted eye.
You didn't bother to conceal the gasp that escaped your lips as the weight of what you did crashed over you like a tsunami. You had just gone against everything you stood for the majority of your life. Using the force for your own gain, letting your emotions control your actions, letting your attachment to Obi-wan grow unhealthy and possessive.
You walked backwards, away from the window and Obi-wan and pressed yourself against the wall to physically get yourself as far away from Obi-wan as you could. You let out a cry in pain as the rocks and rubble from when Vader force pushed you across the rough ground that still remained in the skin of your back pressed against the cool metal of the ship, the adrenaline from the fight long gone as you felt dry blood crack and shift across your skin.
“Y/n”
You looked at the voice and saw Tala standing by you, concerned on her face at your position.
“I'm sorry,” You whispered out defeatedly. “I didn't mean to treat you like that. I'm so sorry.”
Tala put a comforting hand on your shoulder, guiding you to sit down on the floor as she reached for the bag of supplies you gave her when you left her and Leia and pulled out the contents, placing them on the floor beside you.
“I'm going to lift your shirt, okay?” Tala said quietly.
You winced at the feeling of the fabric fibers clinging to your skin, the thread mingling with the blood as Tala lifted the shirt to show the expanse of your back. You bit your tongue as Tala began on removing the debris, the quiet clanking of the rocks hitting the metal floor.
“You're not a monster Y/n.” Tala murmured suddenly.
You turned your head slightly, trying to look at her but it was useless.
“How can you say that? You saw me back there with Vader and how I just treated you.” you said bitterly.
“I think you're mistaking fighting to survive and to protect your loved ones as being wrong and evil. Monsters kill innocent people and take what they can from whoever they want, not caring for anyone's safety.” Tala explained, as she wiped the blood off your back with an antiseptic. The sting of it grounding you slightly as you listen to her speak.
“You feel regret and shame for something you did and thought it was wrong. That doesn't make you a monster, that makes you human.”
Her words doused the fire in you, the guilt and fear remained but had simmered down to a burning ember that was now much easier to tame and accept with a healthier mindset. You felt more like yourself and you realized how close you were to losing yourself in the dark.
Tala placed a bandage on your back, covering the now clean wounds and pulled the ruined shirt over your back again. You turned around so you could look at her face to face and gave her a tired smile.
“Your words mean more to me than you know, thank you.”
Tala smiled back and placed her hand on top of yours and gave a kind squeeze.
“I'm honored, and I promise you we will get Leia back.”
You and Tala sat on the ground for what felt like hours until the ship rattled as it entered the atmosphere, Tala helped you stand up your balanced shaky as you avoided putting weight on your injured foot as Tala went to land the ship while you limped to Obi-wan. He was somewhat conscious as he blinked in confusion, a pained gasp leaving his lips as the ship jostled his body as it landed. Putting a hand on his uninjured arm to keep him steady you leaned over him, his eyes unfocused gaze couldn't meet yours.
“Hold on baby, just hold on for a little longer.” you begged.
You stayed by his side until the hatch of the ship opened and two men came in and took him out on a stretcher, you went to follow but you yelped in pain when you put your full weight on the foot. Ned-B heard your cry and the droid walked over to you, his cold robotic hands wrapping under your legs and lifted you up and walked you out of the ship. Tala turned to  you as she walked alongside Obi-wan on the stretcher.
“We're taking Obi-wan to a Bacta tank! Ayla will help you with your foot and I will grab you in a moment!” Tala shouted before she walked around a corner. Ned-b walked you over to a cot and gently placed you on it as a woman walked over.
“Thank you Neb-B.” you smiled, patting your hand on its hard chest.
The woman kneeled down by your foot and gently lifted it, examining it with care. She hummed in thought before glancing up at you.
“Your fifth metatarsal is slightly fractured.” she explained as she slid off your boot and socks, her hand rested over the bruised skin.
You suddenly remembered your eye and froze, your hand coming up to cradle it. You didn't want these people to think you were sith.
“Ignore my eye,” you murmured nervously, scared of her reaction but all you received was a raised brow.
“Your eyes are fine, unless there's an issue you're having?” Ayla asked.
You put your hand down slowly, looking for anything that had a reflection but Ayla handed you a small mirror from her medkit and you held it up to your face. You smiled at your reflection, no yellow iris in sight, just the normal pigment.
“Did you hit your head commander?” Ayla asked and you blinked.
“I'm sorry? Did you just call me commander?” you asked in disbelief you haven't been called that in so long you almost forgot about it. Ayla just smirked her hands wrapping around your ankle and you could feel the bone in your foot mending back together.
“I was a medic for the 501st battalion, I helped when the infirmary was too full but I was a new jedi knight.” Ayla said before she pulled her hands away. “Does that feel better?”
You rolled your ankle and were pleased to feel no pain in the movement and slid your boot back on.
“It's perfect thank you, Ayla.” you grinned. “I have to go see how my husband is doing but I'm glad you were here.” you hoped she understood what you were trying to say.
“I’m glad you survived as well.” Ayla said kindly before she waved you off. “Please don't let me hold you back, go see your husband.”
 You followed the path you saw Tala take when you first arrived, avoiding shoulder checking people in the small area as you walked around the corner. However, you weren't expecting the large bacta tank to be in the center of the newly accessed area, the machine was lowering Obi-wan's crippled body into the tank. Jogging over you placed your hand on the glass, his body twitching over and over again.
“Y/n,” Tala called down from her spot on the stairs that led to the top of the tank, quickly coming down the steps to meet you. “Ben is fine. He will need to be in here for a few hours at least but there's a small wash area I want you to go and clean yourself off, I put clean clothes out for you as well.”
Your body screamed for a shower, it had been a long time even before everything happened with Leia that you had access to running water. You and Obi-wan had to opt for water canteens and rags when the time called for it in the barren desert. Your eyes casted nervously towards the tank again.
“He will be fine, I also don’t want to take the chance of any bacteria to get into the cuts on your back.”
That…made sense.
“Okay,” you relented. “Show me the way.”
Tala guided you to the small wash area, and she wasn't lying when she said it was small. It had a flimsy curtain that shielded what looked like a crevice in a cave small enough you didn't think you could hold your arms out if you wanted to.
“I know it's not perfect but-”
“Tala it's perfect, thank you.” you cut in, putting a kind hand on her shoulder.
“Alright, I'll see you soon and if Ben's condition changes I'll come get you.”
“Thank you.” you said again. “For everything.”
Tala just gave you a shy smile in response and left you alone. You sighed to yourself and clipped off your lightsaber, placed it next to the pile of clean clothes tala left and began to peel off the sweat and dirt covered layers before you undid the messy braid your hair had been in for the last two days.
You turned on the water and stepped under the spray, closing your eyes in bliss at the lukewarm water drenching your bruised skin. The bandage on your back surprisingly stayed on as you rubbed the dirt off your face, arms, legs, hair, and nails. Turning the water a murky shade of brown as it went down the drain.
You didn't give yourself the luxury of staying in for long, partially due to wanting to go back to Obi-wan and also the guilt of having a shower while Leia was stuck with imperials who were probably interrogating her at that very moment.
That thought alone made you turn the water off and roughly dry off with the small rag Tala had left hanging by the shower. You grabbed the simple pair of black linen pants as well as the simple light blue tunic and slipped them on, you had missed the feeling of clean clothes on your back.
 You quickly slid on a black cloak-like vest and your boots, strapped your lightsaber back on the harness on your thigh and made your way back to Obi-wan.
Only to find him no longer in the tank.
Your mind went to the worst case scenario; his injuries were to servere and the bacta tank couldn't do anything and he was dead.
“Tala!” you shouted looking around for your new friend, walking around quickly.
“In here!” she shouted, poking her head to the corner to a room you didn't even notice your first walk around. You sprinted in the room, your feet skidding and your wet hair whipping in your face at your abrupt stop in front of Tala.
“Where's Obi-wan? Is he okay? Why is he out of the tank? Is he dea-” you rapid fire question came to a halt when Tala simply stepped aside revealing Obi-wan standing in front of you, dressed in clean robes and alive. He had a look on his as he stared at you, one that made your gut twist violently you wanted to throw up.
He knows what you did, what you became for a brief moment.
“I'm so sorry.” you started. “I'm sorry for breaking our promise, for doing what I did, for leaving Leia-”
Obi-wan made the first move quickly, coming up to you and pulling you in his arms, one hand smoothing the hair on the back of your head and the other wrapping around your back. His head was bruised on the top of your head while yours was shoved into the crook of neck.
“You're still the woman I love, that's all that matters to me.” he leaned and whispered for your ears only. “Thank you for doing what you did to protect me.”
You pulled away, running a hand through the now clean hair thanks to sitting in the bacta tank and pulled him close to kiss him just two quick pecks on his chapped lips and pulled away, your hand placed on his chest as you looked up at him with fierce determination.
“Let's get our niece back.”
🖾
“Roken.” Tala called out, guiding you and Obi-wan into another area of the cave. You saw large men kneeled down working on a small machine, he looked behind him and shook his head when he spotted you.
“They shouldn't be here.” Roken spat out.
“I know you're upset, but-” Tala was cut off when Roken stood up and walked over.
“I mean it,” he said sternly. “Get them on the first transport out of here.”
You crossed your arms behind your back and shuffled in place, the tension growing faster and faster each second as he pointed at the two of you.
“Too many people are looking for you, you put us all in danger!”
“We need your help.” Obi-wan said.
“So does every kid making a rock float from here to Coruscant!” Roken countered.
“Someone very important to us has been taken, we need your help to get her back.” You argued.
“I'm sorry general and commander but that's not my problem.”
“I wish that were true.” retorted Obi-wan.
Roken sighed and shook his head, walking away but the three of you trailed behind him closely.
“She knows everything. Where we are, what we're doing.” Tala argued. “Roken, if she finds us then we need to prepare for an evacuation.”
“I can't just shut everything down, Tala. everything runs outta here.” Roken dismissed as he leaned down in front of  a control pad.
“Then help us get her back,”  Obi-wan insisted. “You've no idea what the empire is capable of.”
Roken did not like that comment, turning around with an angry look and pointed at you
“This is your wife?” he asked.
“Yes.” Obi-wan said cautiously.
“I had a wife once, just like yours. I knew exactly what she was before we got married and we tried to hide it, but the inquisitors found her anyway! So I know exactly what the empire is capable of.” he fumed.
“Roken,” you spoke softly, he turned to you and you placed a hand on his shoulder. “I know you care for everyone here and you want them safe and I respect you greatly for that, but without your help another life just like how your wife's life was brutally taken away will happen again.”
Rokens face softened at your words and he looked down for a moment before looking back at you.
“Look, if you want my help, you got it.” he offered and you dropped your hand from his shoulder and nodded.
“Tell us everything you know.”
Roken nodded and gestured to you to follow him, leading you to a meeting room that had a small holotable in the center. You, Obi-wan, Tala, Roken, and two others hovered around the table.
Roken smacked the holotable a couple times before the hologram popped up showing a planet. You were standing in between Tala and Obi-wan leaning against the table as Roken zoomed in.
“Nur, it's a water moon,” he said. “We got this off the grid while it was being built, it's all we have but it's in the Mustafar system.”
“That's Vader's system.” Tala pointed out.
“Is Vader there?” Obi-wan asked.
We don’t think so, our intel shows he is still on his ship but he's close.”
“So that's it?” A scrawny man said from across the table. “Fortress inquisitorius.”
A woman looked over at the man and glared at him.
“It's impenetrable, Wade.”
You scratched your cheek in thought.
“How far down do you think it goes?” you wondered out loud.
“No idea,” Roken shrugged. “It's their base of operations so it probably has a command center, a training facility.”
“Truth is, nobody knows what it looks like.” The woman next to Drew said. Obi-wan leaned in at the table and tilted his head.
“I don't see any shields.”
“That's because no one would be stupid enough to attack them.” Roken replied.
“We could take those speeders, go at night.” Obi-wan pointed behind him. “I saw some T-47s in the hangar.” he suggested.
“It's suicide.” Roken said.
“Yeah well, we're not soldiers. Those speeders are for hauling sewage.” The woman said.
You stood up straight and planted your hand on the table, catching everyone's attention.
“You may not be soldiers, but we are.” you said, gesturing to you and Obi-wan. Which was the truth, you didn't give three years of your life for nothing. “She's ten years old, we won't leave her there and we’ll go on our own.”
“Your friend can barely stand and I don't think you could handle the base all by yourself.” the woman said, making you raise a brow.
“Wanna bet?” you glared.
“I'll go with them.” Tala chimed in and everyone looked over at her in surprise. “Well, I have officer clearance. I can get you inside and I can get you access .”
Obi-wan stood up from his spot and stepped closer to her, his brow creased deeply.
“Is your cover still intact?”
Tala shook her head, unsure from Obi-wan's question.
“We’ll find out soon enough.”
“Tala-”  you spoke, worry evident on your face as you looked at your friend.
“We're wasting time, get my ship fueled and ready.” Tala demanded, cutting you off. She didn't give you a chance to speak again before she stormed off.
🖾
Your head rested on Obi-wan's lap as you tried to get much rest after your fight with Vader, you had tried to convince Obi-wan to rest as well but he refused politely. Your eyes were half opened as the family hum of the ship rocked you gently into an almost asleep state but the sound of a small object dragging against metal kept you awake. You twisted your hand and pulled the object to you and gripped it tight in your hand.
“Stop trying to force it Obi” you mumbled tiredly. “You heard what Tala said earlier, your mind needs to heal as well.”
You adjusted yourself to lay on your back rather than your side and looked up at Obi-wan and handed back the object you now recognized was the holoprojector Bail had given Obi-wan years ago. He looked down at you with a disappointed face, slightly dejected at his rusted skill.
“How are you feeling?” you asked.
“I’m okay,” he answered. “Sore, but okay.”
Anakin played a cheap shot, clearly still bitter from Obi-wan leaving him after he burned and wanted payback. You were glad to see that only his arm was damaged compared to his former padawans disabled state.
“How did you do it?” he asked quietly and you looked at him in confusion.
“Do what?”
“How were you able to fight him…” he paused for a moment. “Like he wasn't Anakin.”
You were quiet for a moment as you gathered your thoughts.
“I didn't care,” you admitted. “Not when the dark side had me in its grips, all I wanted was revenge. To make him suffer like he made you suffer, like he made Padme suffer, like he made those kids suffer.” you closed your eyes when you felt him run a hand through your hair.
“I care now though,”  you whispered. “Even when I know I shouldn't and when I saw what it did to my eye and how scared I felt when I let my emotions get the best of me I can't imagine what Anakin felt when it first happened to him.”
You opened your eyes again and sat up, Obi-wan followed your movement with his eyes as you put a hand on his knee.
“I feel terrible about it, but at the same time I'm glad I did it. It felt so wrong leaving you like that…I don't even want to think about what would've happened if I left you there.”
“I shouldn't have asked you to do that, knowing how stubborn you are I should've known you would come after me.”
You chuckled lightly at the statement.
“From here on out, we do this together, as a team.” you said, holding out your hand. “Deal?”
Obi-wan hesitated for a long moment but eventually grabbed your hand and shook it, you lifted your conjoined hands and kissed his knuckles, your personal way of sealing the deal.
Tala walked in, she was dressed back in her imperial uniform as she hovered by the door, the look on her face was serious.
“We’re almost there, I'll drop the ship low enough above the water for you two to jump in and from there I'll override one of the underwater entrances to get you in.” she handed you and Obi-wan breathers. “Be ready in about three minutes.”
You quickly prepared, removing the pouch attached to you to avoid anything more to weigh you down while you swan and braided your hair to be out of your face. You were nervous, unsure what you'd witness in the fortress but you refused to let that make you hesitate.
“You ready?” Tala asked.
“Yeah,” you nodded, glancing at Obi-wan who also gave a confirm nod “Open the hatch!”
The damp wind rushed over your body as the hatch opened, the sound of the roaring engine loud in your ears as you looked over the edge. The drop down to the water looked about thirty three feet, the height made you swallow nervously.
“Don’t think, don't think, don't think!” you shouted to yourself over the wind before placing the breather into your mouth and jumped.
You couldn't hear Obi-wan's worried shout as you leaped, quickly crossing your arms and keeping your legs straight as possible as you plunged into the bluish green water. Everything around you went deathly quiet as the water filled your ears. Your surroundings are slightly blurry underwater but you could make out the explosion of bubbles as Obi-wan entered the water. You began to swim to the large building, fish and other creatures floating past you as you pushed yourself through the slightly murky water.
“I'm overriding an entry point, it should be right ahead of you.” Talas' voice appeared in your ear though the commlink. You and Obi-wan swan ahead, the entry opening above you slowly as you swan to the top.
When you dragged yourself out of the entrance, the small room was silent beside you and Obi-wan wringing out your water logged clothes. The sound of water splashing on the smooth black floor echoed loudly. The two of you went to the doors, each of you against the wall on either side as you heard the hiss of the doors sliding open and a stormtrooper walking in to investigate the noise. Obi-wan acted quickly, jumping forward and wrapping his arms around the soldiers neck and dragged him back to the pool of water and held him tightly until he went limp in his arms. He tossed the unconscious body into the water and came back to the door, pulling out his commlink.
“We’re in.” he said, his voice low and rough as he stalked forward in the hall. You haven't seen him this focused and aggressive in so long you forgot how good it looked on him. You cleared your throat and refocused, this wasn't the time to think about how good Obi-wan looked.
“Where is she, Tala?” you whispered.
“Detention areas in a secure sector, just keep heading north.”
Suddenly Obi-wan yanked on your arm and shoved you  against the wall. You braced yourself for your head to hit the hard metal at the quick move but was relieved to feel Obi-wan's hand cradling the back of your head as he pressed himself closely to you. His large frame  was blocking your view but you heard the quiet hum of a droid go past you.
“Seeker droids.” He whispered into his commlink, guiding you to hide around the corner.
“I see it,” Tala confirmed. “It looked like they're everywhere, you'll need to-” her voice cut out.
“Tala?” you asked. “Tala, can you hear me?” you called out worriedly.
You and Obi-wan sprinted as the seeker droid rounded the corner again, stealthily running over to another hall and quickly shut it.  You crouched down low as Obi-wan stood straight against the wall when it came up to the door and peered into the small window. You held your breath as it scanned for any life forms, only releasing it when you heard it float away.
“Tala?” Obi-wan called out.
There was no response.
The sound of footsteps coming down the hall made you curse.
“Maker, give me a break.” you hissed, you and Obi-wan splitting off and climbing behind the large slanted beams supporting the building across each other. Your body leaned back awkwardly against the metal.
“This place gives me the creeps.” A stormtrooper commented to his buddy.
“Hopefully we won't be stationed here for long.” he replied.
Yours and Obi-wan's commlink crackled as Talas voice on the other line spoke out.
“Ben?”
You quickly covered the commlink speaker with you hand when the stormtroopers froze.
“Did you hear that?”
You leaned to the side and saw them pull out their blaster and retreat back down the hall where they came, you began to panic when they stepped forward to look directly where Obi-wan was hiding but a sudden thump in the distant made them turn their head
“Over there, let's go.” One of the troopers pointed out, running down the hall.
You leaped down from your spot and looked at Obi-wan, a proud look on your face as you walked quickly the opposite way the troopers went. His strength within the force was already returning and it made you happier than you wanted to admit.
“What happened?” Obi-wan whispered, glancing behind the both of you to make sure no one was following you.
“I had some company, but it's been taken care of.” Tala assured him.
🖾
You felt like you've been walking down the same hall for hours now, each hall being a bland duplicate of the last with the occasional turn. The same door being the same dull gray over and over again.
You might lose your mind.
“Ben. Y/n. Where are you?” Tala asked as you turned another corner.
“I think we just found the secure sector.” Obi-wan said and you glanced up. This door was different, it still had the same gray matt finish but on each side had a bright red Imperial symbol on each side. Obi-wan put the key in and the doors revealed another hall doused in a dark red light, Leia had to be close. You started to run, only stopping when a new door had to be opened. Being so focused in made you run halfwaythrough  another hall before you even processed the new shade of golden orange surrounding you. Looking over at Obi-wan, who now had a horrified look on his face.
“Obi, what's wrong-” you asked, looking to see what he was staring at only for your words to die on your tongue. A sea of rows upon rows of bodies encapsulated in an amber looking substance, a multitude of species frozen in time before your very eyes.
“What is it?” Talas asked.
“I think we just found out what was hiding down here.” Obi-wan said slowly, discomfort very evident in his voice. “This place isn't a fortress.”
“It's a tomb.” you muttered appalled at what you were seeing as you began to walk slowly back to where Obi-wan was. multiple jedis, women, men, and even a few padawans with their training helmets still on. You swallowed the bile climbing up the back of your throat when you say one child's peculiar terrified face.
“Is this the reason inquisitors are hunting us? To harvest Jedi?” you gaped.
Obi-wan froze at one specific person, his face visibly paling so much you could see the color leave his face from a couple feet away.
“What's wrong?” You asked alarmed.
“Y/n, don’t come over here.” Obi-wan said seriously.
That tone he used made you even more nervous and you moved to see what he was looking at but he quickly mauvered coming at you at a freakish speed and pulled you away. You fought against his grip as he wrapped his arms around your chest.
“Obi-wan, let me go.” you grunted angrily, as you twisted in his grip. “Obi-wan!”
Your hands came to his and you had to use the force to give you enough strength to counter his  to pry his hands away from you which allowed you to then rip his arms off of you and ran to where Obi-wan a moment before.
Once you processed what you were looking at you desperately wished you listened to him. Hovering in front of you. A tholothian woman, with golden umber skin, and purple eyes stared back at you. The hairs on the back of your neck stood up, the blood from your own face draining away.
You knew those eyes.
“Master Stass?” you breathed out, the air in your lungs being ripped away by the invisible force that was grief. It seemed the world beneath you shifted, like a tectonic plate giving you your own personal earthquake. You pressed your hand on the glass and dropped your head, a silent sob racking over your body.
Your body was basically limp when Obi-wan dragged you away from your former master. his arms around your back being the only holding you as you buried your face in his chest, a broken scream ripped from your throat that was muffled by the thick material of Obi-wan's tunic.
“I know,” Obi-wan soothed, his head bruised in your hair and he held you tight. “I'm so sorry.”
Of course he knew. he had lived through the same loss of Qui-gon all those years ago, but then you were both Padawans and the roles you and Obi-wan were in now were revered.
You were tired of crying and constantly losing things you loved and cared about due to the empire.
“Young Padawan, you wear your heart on your sleeve.” Master Stass kneeled down in front of you.
You looked up at her with red eyes, the council had pulled you aside after a mission went wrong due to you protecting  another jedi who got injured during battle resulting in you leaving your station. The council had given you a very strict talk about attachments and the adhering to jedi code and warning if you were to mess up again you'd be suspend and or expelled from the order.
“You were wrong, master.” you wiped away your tears with your sleeve. “I'm not meant to be a jedi, the council even said my emotions are hindering me.”
Which was true, in a sense. You've grown very serious attachments to your master and Obi-wan. The woman who basically raised you and the man who is your closest friend and secretly loved. The fear of losing them was something that followed you through every sunrise and every sunset. You've had issues of forcvison'sns being triggered, most of them happening when you lost a grip on your emotions and they were beginning to hinder you in multiple aspects of your training.
 But those attachments made you want to be better, to train harder and to protect fiercely.
How could that be bad?
“You are a person who is very in tune with your feelings,  but I do not perceive that as a bad thing young one as that is how the force created you.” Master stass put a hand under your chin and lifted it gently, a gesture for you to hold your head high. “Do not think of a thing  you cannot change as a weakness, use it to its potential to do good in a healthy way. Wear your strengths and flaws with pride and through that I believe you will be a great jedi one day my young apprentice, perhaps one that can show a new way of life.”
You shook your head.
“Master, the council said emotions and attachment were-”
Master Stass held out a hand, silencing you.
“Trust in the force, if you ever stray away I will guide you home.”
You came back to your face still buried in Obi-wan's chest, your tears made the material wet as it soaked up your grief. You pulled away to look at the man in front of you, who quietly wiped away your tear tracks with the pads of his thumbs as he looked at you with worry. Stepping away from him you slowly went back to your beloved master.
“Master,” you spoke softly, your hand pressing against the glass as you looked in her eyes. “I'm sorry I couldn't protect you like you protected me. The loss is a part of me now but I will use these feelings to protect the people still here.”
“Help, somebody help. Please!” Leia's voice echoed through the force, disnat and scared. You looked at Obi-wan in fear.
“Tala,” Obi-wan said urgently. “We need a distraction!”
“Why, what happened?”
“Just do it, now!” you shouted and you began to run again.
The closer you got to Leia the stronger you felt her through the force, her fear acting as a guide to where she is.
“There!” you pointed out a door with another red symbol on it, you ran to open it but Obi-wan called out to you. He pointed out the electrical panels that controlled the lights and doors to that room and pulled out his lightsaber and slashed the panel. The door opened, leading to a large interrogation room, with a red circle on the floor illuminating the room just enough for you to see two stormtroopers guarding Leia.
You moved quickly, moving to the one on the right. Your footsteps light against the tile as you creeped up behind them and slowly raise your lightsaber to their temple and activate the weapon.  The trooper let out a quiett grunt as the blade entered through one side of his head and through the other before drooping to the ground. Obi-wan went full aggressor and repeatedly attacked the trooper before they also dropped dead.
Running to where Leia was strapped down you and Obi-wan quickly undid the restraints and placed her on the ground. Getting on your knees you smiled widely at the sight of her being unharmed.
“You're both alive, they told me you were dead.” she frowned.
You pulled a stray hair covering her forehead and tucked it away behind her ear.
“We’re okay. They wouldn't have been able to kill us before we got you home, we’re far too stubborn for that. Are you okay? Did they hurt you?”
“I didn't tell them anything.” she promised.
“We know.” Obi-wan said gently. “Come with us, we're going to get you home.”
🖾
You ran through the maze of halls again as Obi-wan held onto Leia's hand, keeping your head down as you passed through the tomb again. Focusing on the fact there was nothing you can do about your master without endangering Leia, Obi-wan, and yourself.
Focused on trying to get out of the base and watching for troopers you totally forgot about the seeker droids roaming around the halls until the three of you were walking down the hall and heard the obnoxious alarm beeping right behind you, cursing as it began to follow you.
“This is fine, it's just us around here. I'll just break the droid with my saber before the laram sounds.” you said getting you saber ready right as the main alarm began to go off, the sound echoing off the walls. “Okay, nevermind. Run. Run. Run!”
Obi-wan whipped out his commlink.
“Tala! We're out in the open!” Obi-wan shouted.
There was no response for a moment but soon enough you heard a panting Tala call back.
“Where are you?”
You didn't get a chance to respond as a blaster shot whizzed by your ear, turning on your lightsaber you lunged and deflected a shot from hitting Leia right in the back. You force pulled the seeker droid to you and sliced the machine in half while Obi-wan continued to send the two stormtroopers at the end of the hall blaster shots back their way. One of the shots went through the chest of the stormtrooper on the left leaving one standing. Obi-wan moved fast and closed in on him before spinning and cutting them in half, spinning his saber in a dramatic flare.
“Come on, follow Ben!” you ushered Leia quickly, deflecting blasts from two more troopers before running away.
The scenery changed once you turned down a new hall, the walls now showing the underwater landscape against the window panes instead of matte black like before. Multiple stormtroopers and a few imperial workers swarmed both the entryways in the halls.
“Hide!” Obi-wan told Leia, who ran to hide behind a lip of the window seal. Blocking herself from the fire of blaster shots. Obi-wan deflected the shot with ease, his mastery of the Soresu form still very much intact, tight and controlled. Focusing on defensive rather than offense. You never mastered one form of lightsaber combat, your arenal of combat moves continually pulling from the Ataru and Djem So forms. Preferring speed and using your strength in the force to use aggressive attacks.
You ran and dropped to the floor, sliding across the smooth material of the floor and sliced the enemies legs off, their dismembered upper half thumping beside you. Shoving ther body away from you stood up and found your back pressed against Obi-wan's working as a team to take down the ever growing group of stormtroopers.
“Just like old times huh, Kenobi?!” you grunted as the ache in your arms grew.
One of the blaster shots Obi-wan deflected and smacked the control panel, closing the door as another wave of stormtroopers and shocktroopers were coming at you. The blastershot malfunctioning the door making it stuck.
“Ben the window!” Leia shouted.
You and Obi-wan turned and saw a large crack in the glass, the crack webbing out and growing larger and larger as each second passed. Obi-wan shot his hand out, preventing the glass from shattering and drawing you all. The troopers began to pry the door open but you held your hands out and fought to keep the doors closed with the force, however it was a fast losing battle with one person against seven.
“Ben. Y/n!” Tala shouted, finally finding your small group.
“Tala!” you shouted out relieved to see her okay.
“Tala get her out of here, i'll hold it!.” Obi-wan grunted out as the crackling of the glass grew larger. You looked back at Obi-wan, sweat growing on your face as you fought desperately to hold the door closed.
“Tell me when!” you shouted.
Obi-wan moved his hand, the cracking sound of the glass growing louder the closer it traveled to you.
“Now!”
You dropped you hand and ran back right as the glass shattered and a wave of water came crashing down the hall, side sweeping the troopers.
“Run!” Tala screamed at the both of you.
You and Obi-wan stumbled forward, jumping over the dead bodys and ran for your life as the water roared after you. Tala smacked the control panel right before you and OBi-wan ran through, the doors closing right before the water could escape with floating bodys drifting around like a fish in a tank. Water began to seep from the seal of the door as you caught your breath.
“That's not going to hold for long.” Tala said, kneeling down and handing you and Obi-wan a coat from the two imperial workers on the floor.
“Put these on.”
🖾
“There's no way this is going to work.” you mumbled under your breath walking beside Tala as Obi-wan hid Leia under his coat. Her small body created a large lump on his right side as the four of you walked across the landing dock. Imperials were everywhere you looked, everyone panicking as the alarm still blared repeatedly through the large base.
“Almost there.” Tala muttered.
You kept your head down, not having a hat to cover your face as you kept a nervous hand on your lightsaber in your pocket. The dock was cleaning up from people, soon enough you would be off this planet.
“A traitor!” a voice shouted loudly.
The four you spun around and saw the third sister, saber drawn with a small army of stormtroopers and shocktroopers behind her.
“A child and an old couple. Was it worth it?” the third sister sneered. “Betraying everything you are?”
Obi-wan pushed Leia behind him while you stepped behind Leia, the two of you created a small area of protection for her as you began to be surrounded with blasters pointed all around you.
“This was never who I was.” Tala said.
The third sister raised her lightsaber at her menacingly.
“Then you die, for nothing”
You put a hand on Leia's shoulder, anxiety bubbling in you as even more blasters were raised. You closed your eyes prepared to get shot when you heard the loud rumble of a ship appear above you. Looking up as two fighter ships flew down and began shooting at the imperials surrounding you, loud explosions and fire quickly invading the area. You snagged a balster off the ground and urged everyone to move. You, Tala, and Obi-wan fought off the few stragglers as you moved closer to the edge of the landing dock as the third sister followed.
The second figthershipped landed roughly on the ground sparks flying as the top of the ship came down and Sully poked her head out.
“Get in!” she shouted.
You quickly lifted Leia into the ship and followed her before leaning out the window to pull Obi-wan and Tala up. The top closing as the first figthership began to shoot at the third sister, distracting her from getting any closer. The ship shot off, you stumbled at the speed as Sully yelled at Wade to stop his attack.
Not being able to see what was going on, the sound of an explosion made you flinch as a pained shout came from Sully, calling out to her friend.
🖾
The air was solemn when you walked onto the main ship, everyone walked slowly as equations and disappointed tugged at your bones. Roken walked in smiling, but his face quickly fell when he was the dejected looks on everyone's face.
“Where's Wade?” he asked.
There the lack of response gave Roken his answer, he closed his eyes and sighed.
“I guess your soldiers now.” you said, turning to Tala. “I'd get the girl a drink.”
Tala nodded sadly and walked off while Sully sat down.
Shrugging off the imperial jacket, you went to the window and watched Nur fade away in the distance. The guilt of having to leave Mater Stass alone on that planet ate away at you.
“Are you okay?” Leia asked.
You turned around and saw her sitting by Obi-wan, who also looked at you in concern. The sight of them alone made the loss more bearable, you may not have been able to help your master but at the very least they were okay.
“Yeah, I'm okay.” you smiled sadly.
Leia looked down at Obi-wan's hand and reached up placing hers on top of his, he looked down and looked at her so softly it made emotion grip at your chest as he turned his hand and gingerly held her hand, rubbing a comforting thumb across the back of Leia's hand. The two smiled at each, providing each other a comfort they didn't know they needed.

Authors note: Working on chapter 4 as we speak! keep an eye for that in the next day or so because I'm sobbing over the finale and I will  pretend its not over until i'm done with this series. if you liked this update and would like to be added to the taglist let me know down below!
Prologue- Part 1- Part 2
Warnings: Violence, talk about death, angst, some fluff, reader tampering in the dark side, slight PDA (nothing crazy), references to the clone wars show, and idk I think that's it.
You don't remember falling asleep, but at some point you woke up under a small blanket on the hard and cold floor. You rubbed the sleep away from your eyes and looked around, your eyes landed on Obi-wan and Leia as they quietly talked.
“Can’t you use the force on it?” Leia asked.
You smiled at her question as you stood up, walking over to them and sitting next to Obi-wan legs on the floor. He looked at you for a moment, and gave you the smallest of smiles as he continued on fidgeting with a broken droid in his hands.
“That's not how it works.” Obi-wan sighed.
“Then how does it work, the force?” Leia said, her tiny body dragging her blanket covered body to look at your both. “What does it feel like?”
You and Obi-wan took a moment to think before answering.
“Have you ever been afraid of the dark?” he asked.
Leia nodded.
“How do you feel when you turn the light on?” he continued.
“Safe.” Leia replied and Obi-wan nodded.
“Yes, it feels like that.”
Leia then turned to you, waiting for your answer and you cleared your throat, laughing nervously, unsure what to say.
“The force also makes me feel safe,” you said. “But it also makes me balanced.”
Leia raised a brow in confusion.
“Balanced?” she asked slowly.
You nodded and grabbed your lightsaber, you slowly lifted it with the force in front of Leia. chuckling quietly at her fascinated look.
“As Jedi we were taught that the force is not good or evil but a balance between two extremes. Were taught about the light side and the dark side, and that too much of either would be dangerous so to have an equal amount ensures safety to the galaxy as you cannot have one without the other” you tilted the saber in the air to one side. “But some people give into temptation and fear, making them fall down a dark path. That path is hard to ignore and leads to nothing but pain and grief” you looked over at Obi-wan, who now had his eyes casted down on the floor. You looked back at Leia and continued.
“What I'm trying to say,” you said, putting the lightsaber down. “The force keeps me from making those bad decisions as it keeps me aware of both the good and bad parts of myself, and if I'm feeling lost or scared I put my trust in the force to put me on the path that's right.”
Leia was silent for a moment.
“So it's like a compass? If you're lost you turn to it for guidance?” she asked and you nodded.
“Exactly.” you smiled.
Obi-wan looked up and handed the droid to Leia, her face lighting up immediately at the sight.
“Lola!” she exclaimed happily, gently taking the droid into her hands. She looked back up at Obi-wan and smiled big.
“Thank you!” she said, before turning around to go talk to her friend.
Ignoring your aching muscles you stood up and held out a hand to Obi-wan, he looked up at you in confusion.
“Come to the window with me?” you asked, softly.
Obi-wan put his hand in yours and stood up, you both walked to the window furthest from Leia and stared out at the galaxy, stars shooting by so fast they began to blur into lines. You were quiet for a moment, your arms crossed behind your back as you looked over at Obi-wan.
“Tell me what you're thinking?” you asked.
Obi-wan was calmer than before, but he still had a haunted look on his face as he stared ahead, stroking his beard.
“I thought he was dead, I killed him-or I thought I did.” Obi-wan whispered.
You thought the same thing, the blood loss and the sheer amount of burns Anakin had received on Mustafar should have killed him.
How was he alive?
“I think he was,” you said quietly, Obi-wan turned to you as you spoke. “Or he was disgustingly close.” you refused to look at your husband when you let the thoughts that have been building for the last two hours spill from your mouth.
“When I was a padawan under Master Stass, during one of her lessons about force healing she told me about something the sith used called force diminish, a technique that allowed the user to weaken an opponent's body and mind to the point of death. Some wielders of the Force were known to be able to drain life energy and force energy simultaneously…” you paused, your vision blurring with tears as you let out a shaky breath, you checked over your shoulder quickly to see Leia paying no attention to you, satisfied you looked back at the window.
“When Padme died,” you whispered as quietly as possible. “They said she was healthy but was dying, she lost the will to live.” you shook your head. “For years, I thought that made no sense. Padme was too strong to just give up like that, not when she had children about to enter the world.”
Looking down at your feet, you saw tears fall from your face and land on your boots.
“I think Palpatine was able to use force diminish on Padme, siphoning her life force and putting it into Anakin to keep Darth Vader alive.” you said looking at Obi-wan.
He looked at you in shock, your theory hitting him like a sack of bricks as he looked at your bitter filled face. You favored messing with your ring, twisting the band around your finger as you laughed sadly, the sound wet and broken.
“Who knew one man could have that type of power, how the council didn't notice sooner I'll never understand.”
Obi-wan grabbed your hand, stopping your fiddling and brought your hand to his lips, kissing your knuckles. A silent gesture of love and worry at once poured into a simple press of his lips onto your bruised knuckles from the last day of fighting, he was the only person who could soothe an overwhelming amount of thoughts with one single move.
“Will you be okay?” you asked, stepping closer.
He nodded but you knew deep down he wasn't, you decided to not comment on it and placed a hand on his cheek the slightly overgrown beard brushes against your fingers as you kissed him.
“You guys are together?” Leia’s voice piped up.
You pulled away and looked over at her, seeming to be done catching up with Lola. She was now by you guys, looking at you with slight surprise. You held your hand out so Leia could see the ring on your hand.
“Married for ten years.” you said proudly.
Leia came forward and took your hand into her tiny hands looking at the ring, the ring had no stones or anything like that, just a silver band with engravings all around the band.
“I thought jedi can't get married?” the small girl asked.
“Yeah well,” you glanced at Obi-wan for a moment before looking back at Leia, not wanting to explain to her there was no longer a council to expel them for their relationship you leaned forward. “I happen to love him alot, so I broke the rules.” you winked.
The ship rumbled as it entered the atmosphere, making both you and Leia stumble lightly.
“We better get ready, we're on approach.” Obi-wan said looking at the window
Mapuzo was very dry looking, the mostly dirt hills with little to no shrubbery growing made it look dead and dull. The three of you quietly made your way off the ship, watching the droid unload the ship one box at a time.
“Okay.” Obi-wan whispered, cueing it was time to run when the main droid walked away.
You grabbed Leia's hand sprinted, your small group stopping periodically to see if the droid had turned around until you made it down the hill and out of sight of the unloading station. You ended up on a dirt path, trailing slightly behind Obi-wan and Leia.
You were on edge, your connection with the force was shaken for sure. The recent events had begun a small internal battle in your soul as you thought about the council and the jedi order
They were flawed, severely flawed and you never noticed until now.
Taking force sensitive children, enforcing compassion but love and attachments was forbidden, ignoring the problems within the senate, and then after all they did with manipulating Ankains to spy on Palpatine and forcing Ashoka out of the order, and even having Obi-wan fake his death during the war.
Arrogant enough to let the Empire grow right under everyone's noses.
You never received a seat on a council like Obi-wan did, you had been very vocal about how you thought the Jedi beliefs were outdated, and that reform was needed within the order. Making a lot of the council to not favor you, although you neverminded. You joined the order to protect the unprotected and keep peace not sit in a chair.
Even though most Jedi disagreed with you ideal, Qui-gon was a man who respected your thoughts even when you were a padawan.
You were always proud to call yourself a jedi, but now…
Did you even want to be one anymore?
“People are not all good Leia!” Obi-wan scolded, his irritated tone making you snap out of your thoughts.
“Obi-wan,” you warned, although you were confused at what caused the lapse of his anger.
Obi-wan glanced back at you, a slightly guilty look on his face before he looked back at Leia.
“It wasn't always like this here, there were fields and families… then the empire came and ravaged it all.”
You looked around and saw stormtroopers and empire programed droids all over the barren land, wondering how many families once lived in those very spots.
“I thought the empire was supposed to be helping us.” Leia asked.
“There are some people like your dad, who are trying to, although it seems like a losing battle these days.” Obi-wan slowed to a stop. his voice trailing off as he looked in the distance with a slightly scared face, following his line of vision you saw nothing but dirt and dry grass.
Leia looked at you with concern on her face and you walked up behind him.
“Obi-wan?” you called out, shaking his shoulder.
He didn't respond.
“Ben?” Leia called out. “Ben?”
Obi-wan seemed to snap out of whatever trance he was in and put a hand on Leia's shoulder, pulling him closer to him before he looked at you. Worry on his face as he gave you a look that you could only read as a plea to stay close to him. You looked at him with confusion but eventually nodded, only then did he start to walk again but not without looking over his shoulder constantly as if he thought someone was watching you all.
“What's wrong?” you whispered, hoping Leia would hear you.
You felt…something in the force, a small tingle of emotion tickling your mind like the waters on Naboo would graze against your feet in the sand, familiar but also long forgotten as you tried to grab hold onto it only for it to slip from your grasp.
Obi-wan was trying to send you his thoughts through the force.
A feeling you once loved dearly, but now it felt odd after not feeling this intimate look into his mind you once knew very well in years.
“I can feel you trying, but it's very unfocused. I can't get a clear grasp on it.” you said sadly.
Obi-wan just stayed silent and continued walking.
You kept walking in silence for a while, both you and Obi-wan had taken a side of the small girl to act like walls in case anything unexpected popped up. Leia was content not talking much as she struggled slightly to keep up with her small legs. However, she kept staring at you intensely as if she was trying to figure something out.
“Alright kid, you keep looking at me like I have tentacles coming out of my head. Care to tell me what's going on in that brain of yours?” you laughed.
“I've heard you before,” Leia announced. “In my dreams.”
“That's not possible,” you laughed, hoping desperately the hint of fear didn't trickle in. “Id most definitely remember if I met you previously.”
You ignored Obi-wan's worried look.
“It's true!” Leia protested. “I would hear someone say, “Wear your flaws and strength with pride.” and you sound just like them.”
Those words felt like a blaster shot right in the stomach.
 Those words were the last words you said to her before Bail had taken her to Alderman, and the fact she remembered the words made your heart skip a beat.
Force visions, that was the only logical explanation on how she could even remember you saying that.
“That's odd,” you said. “I've never said those words before, I do have a very generic accent, maybe someone else sounds like me.” you lied without a beat.
“But-” Leia began but Obi-wan interrupted.
“We're getting close to the meeting spot. Now remember if anyone asks, “we're farmers from tawl and you don't talk.”
“Cant talk or don't like to talk?”
“You. don't. Talk.” Obi-wan said slowly, but stopped looking at the navigation device and looked up. “This is it, this is where he told us to come.”
The emptiness around you made you feel even smaller as you realized no one was here.
“Dank Farnik.” you cursed, a handing coming up to your head as you looked around.
“Maybe they're late?” Leia suggested.
“Maybe it was a lie. I knew it! We never should've trusted him.”
“We don't know-” Leia quickly got cut off.
“No one is coming, Leia!” Obi-wan shouted.
“Hey,” you snapped, looking at your very frustrated husband. “Calm down and breathe.”
You knew he was just worried but he seemed to forget that Leia was just a child, and him yelling would get you nowhere.
Leia walked forward, looking at the dirt road ahead of her.
“Well, if we're on our own, we're gonna need some help.”
You and Obi-wan turned and saw a transport vehicle driving down the road, Leia began waving her arms down and walking to the road.
“What are you doing?” Obi-wan asked, stumbling after her.
“Maybe they can give us a ride to the spaceport!”
“But it's not safe Leia!” he scolded.
“He seems friendly!”
With that she began to run toward the car, you and Obi-wan following after her quickly as you approached the vehicle.
“Keep your head down Leia.” you warned. “And remember you dont talk!”
The vehicle stopped in front of your small group and Leia walked up to the driver.
“Hi! I'm Luma. This is my family, Orden and Lyra. were farmers from Tawl.” Leia said, her lie flowing smoothly. You wanted to highfive her but resisted the urge.
“Hi there, I'm Freck.” the driver introduced himself.
Leia looked at you and Obi-wan.
“Well? Aren't you going to say hello?”
You waved and gave a small smile.
“Hello.” Obi-wan, slightly annoyed but went along anyway.
Leia and Obi-wan then explained that we were on a trip but got lost and needed to get to the port to go home.
“Well I'm going that way. Jump in!” Freck offered.
“Ah, That's all right we just need directions, thank you.” you said, not wanting to interact with anyone else you didn't know. But Leia shook her head and marched towards the back of the truck.
“Come on, we've walked long enough, Thanks Freck!”
You and Obi-wan gave in and walked to the back of the truck, only stopping when you saw the empire symbol painted on the back. You and Obi-wan shared a nervous look before he helped you up on the vehicle, quickly following behind you.
It wasn't long before Freck started up a conversion.
“Where did you say you were from again?”
“Tawl.” the three of you echoed.
“Oh, good people out in Tawl. they pay their way and listen to the empire.”
‘Probably because you kill them if they don’t.’ you thought bitterly.
“Absolutely, we love the empire.” Leia exclaimed.
“Nice to meet like-minded folk. Nothing wrong with alittle order. Right?”
Right as he said that, the truck came to a stop and you saw a large group of stormtroopers walk up. Chewing on your cheek nervously you snuck your hand over to  Obi-wans in a quiet attempt to ease your nerves as Obi-wan put a protective hand on Leia's shoulder.
The breaks squealed to a stop as Freck leaned out the window.
“Your transport late again?”
“As usual.” The stormtroopers' modulated voice sighed.
“Well, hop in. meet my new friends.”
You watched silently when five of them climbed up and sat around you, one of them even sitting close enough that their armored knee was hitting against yours. You pulled your cloak tighter around your body to avoid anyone seeing your lightsaber.
“This is Orden, Luma, and Lyra. they're hitching a ride to the port, Where are you all coming from?” Freck asked.
“They're moving us around, looking for some jedi.”
Freckles' face twisted in surprise.
“A jedi? Out here? I hope we're not in any danger.”
“Ah no, we'll find them. We always do.”
                                                             🖾
The silence was killing you, each passing moment was spent watching the stormtroopers hold their blasters in front of your face as every muscle in your body grew more and more tense. You distracted yourself by giving Leia the small amount of food you kept in your bag, the poor girl's stomach was growling in hunger for too long before you remembered you had it.
“Are you a miner?” One of them asked Obi-wan.
“Farmer, from uh- Tawl.” Obi-wan stuttered.
“What are you doing out here?”
Obi-wan smiled slightly, hoping to put them off.
“That's a long story.”
“It's a long way.” another stormtrooper said.
“He brought me here to see the place where he met my mother before she…” Leia said, her voice growing sadder at her fake story. The corner of your lip twitched up, pride swelling in you at her swift safe. Obi-wan patted her shoulder before he looked back up at the troopers.
“She's not with us anymore, it's been a difficult time.”
“What about you guys? Have any info on any jedi?”
“We wouldnt know one if we saw one,” you sighed. “Thank the maker, they've caused enough trouble already I wouldn't want to cross one.”
“You haven't heard anything?” the trooper asked in slight disbelief.
“Nothing,” Leia said. “Are you sure they're even on this planet?”
“They know what they're doing, Leia.” Obi-wan said.
You froze, and for the third time in the twenty years you've known Obi-wan Kenobi you wanted to smack him upside the head.
“You called her Leia.” the trooper called out, Obi-wan and Leia looked up from their argument. “I thought her name was Luma.”
  “Maker, please don't screw this up.” you prayed silently.
“That was her mothers name, I get confused.” Obi-wan said sadly, looking down at the ground. “Like I said, it has not been easy.” He then looked at Leia, a soft look on his face as he spoke. “Sometimes when I look at Luma, I see her mothers face.”
Leia looked at him with an emotion you couldn't place.
“We all miss her very much.” he finished.
The Stormtrooper then puts its attention on you, crossing your legs and leaning back to show them your open and relaxed posture. It was an act of course but they didn't need to know that.
“What about you then? What are you doing here?” he interrogated, hands gripping his balster tighter.
“I'm her aunt,” you explained, “I help Orden take care of Luma while he's working on the farm, ever since her mother died I like to keep her close by my side.”
Your eyes never left Leias as you continued on, hoping she would understand how deep your next words truly meant to you.
“When I look in her eyes I find a glimpse of hope and strength, I wish I had when I think about my sister and if taking her here means that resilience stays then i'll travel the whole galaxy for her”
“Well,” the trooper nodded. “Just keep your eyes open.”
All three of you nodded.
“Of course.”
One of the other stormtroopers pounded on the side of the truck.
“This is us! Thanks Freck!”
The truck came to a stop, and all the white armored men quickly unloaded themselves, you held your breath until they were off the dirt road.
Once the truck began to move again all three of you sighed in relief, you thumped your head on Obi-wan's shoulder.
“Never again.” you whispered miserably.
Although you didn't get a reply, you moved your head to look at the two and saw Leia eying the both of you.
“What?” Obi-wan asked.
“You knew her, my real mother, didnt you?”
“It was just a story.” Obi-wan sighed
Leia shook her head.
“The whole time I've known you both, you've been hiding something… Lying to me.”
“Leia.” you said softly lifting your head.
“Are you my real parents?” Leia asked, her voice small as she started up at Obi-wan. You turned your gaze to the dry land as you zoned out when Obi-wan began to talk, thinking about what you would say to her.
You wish you were her parent, so one day when she was hopefully much older, she wouldn't find out that her father, who people once respected and loved deeply had turned into a corrupted and heinous shell of a person who used to be Anakin Skywalker who murdered thousands of people.
Or that her mother had died minutes after she was born  because of that man and Darth Sidious.
You held out your hand, happy that the little girl placed her small hand in yours as you squeezed softly.
“I'm not your mom, but if I could rewrite the past and change things I would be in a heartbeat.” you admitted.
The truck slowled a decent amount making you and Obi-wan look up.
“Freck?” you called out. “Freck can we get off here?”
“Don't worry!” Freck shouted. “Standard inspection, it won't take long. I know these guys.”
You watched as Freck pulled up to the inspection site, and stepped out of the truck to go speak with one of the troopers. Their voices low in whispers, unable to make out what they were saying you pulled Leia closer to you.
Two troopers walked up to the back of the truck, fingers on the triggers for their blasters as they stared at the three of you.
“Not a lot of reason to be in the outpost today. Where are you headed?” he asked,
“Back to Tawl. We have family here we were visiting.” Obi-wan said calmly.
There was a beat of silence.
“Alright step out of the vehicle.” the trooper demanded.
You and Obi-wan shared a nervous look, but slowly stood up and got out. Obi-wan helped Leia down as the three of you stood in a line.
“Initiate protocol 23.”
Your hand twitches nervously at your side, unsure to grab ahold of your lightsaber or to avoid to put any more eyes on you than there already was. The hum of an imperial droid filled the air as it floated towards you, landing right in front of Obi-wan. Who kept his head down and hood over his head to avoid it scanning his face.
“Raise your head.” a trooper said, but when Obi-wan didn't move both of them raised their blasters.
“I said, raise your head!” one of them shouted.
Obi-wan gave in once the droid got close enough to scan his face, rapid beeping went off for a moment before the alarm went off. Obi-wan moved quickly and whipped out his blaster in a blink, shooting down the droid.
The two of you moved quickly, grabbing the trooper's wrist and quickly disarming him of his blaster and shooting him in the chest. You spun around and used the force on another one, lifting him and smacking their head against a rock when he tried to grab Leia.
Pushing Leia behind you when you saw Obi-wan grab Freck and use him as a shield to shoot down the guard on top of the watchtower, his body falling on the laser cutting him in half and leaving a split body on dirt.
You heard Leia whimper and you turned to see a stormtrooper pointing her blaster at her temple, the look of fear in her eyes made her look too much like her mother the night she died. You put down your blaster and heard Obi-wan walk around the car, seeing the predicament you were now in.
“Put it down! Put it down!” he shouted at Obi-wan, the barrel of the blaster lightly smacked Leia on the head making her cry out. Without thinking you raised your hand, your fingers curling in the air as the stormtrooper wheezed out a breath.
“Drop the gun!” you seethed, closing your fingers tighter as the stormtrooper gurgled and squirmed in your invisible grip. He quickly dropped the gun, and Leia sprinted forward allowing Obi-wan to shoot him in the stomach. Leia ran to your arms and you held her close, the sound of her shaky breaths loud in your ear.
“I got you, I got you.” you soothed, picking her up and jogging up to Obi-wan.
The three of you ran up to the lazer guarded fence, obi-wan flipped the switch only for nothing to happen. You stepped back when you saw Obi-wan shoot the switch with his blaster, frying the system and allowing the lazers to turn off.
You ran, only for a transport full of stormtroopers to arrive a few moments after. Putting Leia down on the ground when the group surrounded the three of you.
“Get down! Get down on the ground!.” A female trooper shouted.
You all slowly went to your knees, hands placed on the ground looking at the dirt beneath you. You were about to use the force when you heard the sound of a blaster echo. Flinching you looked over at Obi-wan and Leia, praying that it wasn't them who got shot.
“Come on.” A woman said, she was dressed in an imperial uniform, her tall boot crushing below the ground as she walked up to you. “They'll have sent a transmission. We have to hurry.”
                                                      🖾
The small town on Mapuso was quiet, indistinct chatter filling the air with the sound of metal pounding on metal as the woman led you through the back ways of the buildings.
“He gave you the right coordinates,” The woman confirmed and you and Leia shared a knowing look that Obi-wan was wrong about it being a trap, biting your lip to hold back a laugh as Leia rolled her eyes. “I was on my way when the probes arrived, but you'd already gone.”
“I didn't expect anyone to come.” Obi-wan admitted.
You pressed yourself into the wall when stormtroopers passed, the increase in security in such a short amount of time made you want to go hide.
“The empires went into high alert. They've locked everything down.”
“How are we going to get out then?” you asked.
“I can still get you to the port, there's a pilot who has agreed to take you. But he's not scheduled to leave for a few hours so we need to lay low.” the woman explained, stepping away. Obi-wan moved to follow her but she held out a hand.
“Wait here, i'll make sure it's clear.”
You and Obi-wan watched her walk into a building across the street, you decided to take the time to lean against the wall, giving your legs a rest from all the walking you've done today. Your head pounded in your skull, most likely due to the lack of food and water you've had recently but the throbbing was beginning to create small black dots in your vision.
The chirp of Leia's droid Lola made you lift your head, she was looking down sadly and petting her small companion. You and Obi-wan kneeled down to meet her eye level but she didn't meet your gaze.
“Everything will be alright, Leia. well make it out.” Obi-wan promised.
Leia finally looked up, her eyes glossy.
“I didn't do it on purpose. I didn't mean to run away, I used to do it all the time.” she said, her breath catching in her throat. You reached up and placed a hand on her cheek to have her look you in the eyes.
“It wasn't your fault.” you said sternly. “You were the victim of an unfortunate situation, love.”
“I miss home.” she sadly while you brushed some of the loose hairs that fell from her bun behind her ear.
“You'll be home very soon.” Obi-wan said, putting his large hand on her shoulder for a moment before he stood up to look around the building. You stood up straight and Grabbed Leia's hand when Obi-wan gave the signal that it was clear. You followed Obi-wan into the building, keeping Leia in the middle of the two of you, using her inside when the Woman opened the door.
“What is this place?” you asked.
“Droid maintenance, it's all automated. No one ever comes in here.”
You nodded as you walked past Obi-wan, his arms crossed over his chest as his eyes followed your movement when grazed your hand against his, as you went to look around. It was cluttered, full of metal scraps and wires and the smell of oil filled your nose.
The sound of a door opening made you turn around, watching the woman lead Obi-wan and Leia into a secret room. The droid then looked over to you, as if he was waiting for you to go in as well. You smiled and jogged over, walking into the room thanking the droid before he closed the door again.
The room was small but homely, blankets and basic supplies laying around on tables with a few blankets on the ground modeled into makeshift beds. Dust covered some surfaces in the dark room but other than that it was clean.
“What is this place?” Obi-wan questioned.
The woman turned, her hat now gone as a trail of sweat trailed from her hairline to her brow.
“We have safehouses like this throughout the galaxy, we're trying to link the systems.” she explained. “Some call it the path, you two are not the first jedi to come through here.”
You looked around and saw a few canteens of water, you looked over your shoulder at the woman and she nodded. Kneeling down you snatched a canteen from the ground and quickly took a sip, you sighed in relief at the surprising coldness at the water. You poured some into your hands and washed your face to clear off some of the dirt before you handed it off to Leia who gratefully took it.
“It all leads to Jabiim, from there we give people new identities and get them out…there's a lot of good people  risking their lives out there.”
“Are they all jedi?” Leia asked and the woman chuckled.
“Not all. These days the empire is hunting anyone who's force-sensitive, even children.”
“What happens to them?”
“We're not sure, but no one ever sees them again.”
Now that you know Leia has some connection to the force, and knowing Luke will as well at some point you assumed. The thought of the empire getting their hands on the children whose father had the highest Midichlorianan count you've ever seen in your life made you nervous.
Who knows what they would do to them.
Obi-wan looked at the wall that had hundreds of carvings in it, but his hand hovered over one in particular.
“QuinLan was here?” Obi-wan asked, surprised.
Your brows shot up, now that was a name you haven't heard in a long time.
“He helps once in a while, smuggling younglings.”
You and Obi-wan smilied, happy to see a longtime friend alive and well.
“What does it say?” Leia asked. You leaned forward, fingers tracing the words gently.
“Only when the eyes are closed, can you truly see.” you read out, softly.
“See what?”
“The way.” Obi-wan said.
A loud knock on the door startled you, making you jump violently at the sound. You grabbed Leia's arm and moved her so she was pressed against the wall. Blaster ready in your hand as you tried to listen to the muffled voices behind the secret door.
The few minutes that went by felt like hours as you all waited in anxious silences.
Eventually the door outfront closed, everyone let out the breath they were holding.
“We've been compromised. We're coming to you right now.” the dark haired woman spoke into her commlink.
“We're not ready, we need more-” the voice on the other line said.
“I dont care.” she interrupted. “Get the ship ready and hurry.” and with that she disconnected. She looked over at you, her brows creased in worry.
“Someone must have seen us. We're moving up the timeline.” she explained, shrugging off her imperial jacket for a more comfortable robe.
“Is it scary?” Leia asked her when you went to collect some basic supplies. “Having to pretend?”
“Yeah sometimes, but it's worth it if I get to help people.”
You opened your bag attached to your hip to put a couple bacta patches, some food, and water in it, you weren't sure how many more days you were going to be running around but you knew you need something to keep Leia somewhat healthy.
You listened to the woman  explain she was apart of the empire, realizing too late what they were capable off.
“We all made mistakes.” you called out, closing your small bag and looking over at her and Obi-wan.
“I can't imagine Obi-wan Kenobi and Y/n Marillia doing anything wrong.” she chuckled.
“It's just Ben and Kilian these days.”
“Well,” she said, placing a hand on her chest. “Tala”
“Come on,” Tala said, opening another secret door. “This will take us out.”
You felt a huge shift in the force, the force of it alone making you shudder as you looked over at Obi-wan who was stumbling, leaning himself on the wall.
“Ben? Kilian?” Tala called out worriedly.
You and Obi-wan opened the door to the maintenance area again, both of you looking out the small slit in the door that showed the street. The sounds of shrieks and stormtroopers yelling at everyone to go inside ringed in the town, and you spotted multiple inquisitors at the end of the street, their black armor abusive against the white armor of the stormtroopers.
The sound of heavy modulated breathing sent shivers down your spine as a man walked down the long street. Tall and covered in all black with a helmet that covered his whole face, his cape flowing behind him with each heavy step he took.
“Anakin.” you whispered. As if he heard you, he froze in the middle of the street.
“Go Back to the room.” you demanded, pushing Leia away from the door before going back to looking out the window.
You watched in horror as he forced choke a man, dragging him out the window of his home. The sound of his wife and son crying at the sight.
“Dad!” the boy shouted, running out the door.
Anakin smacked him against the wall, before twisting his hand to the side.
The sound of the kids neck snapping had you cover your mouth, stifling a shout as you and obi-wan watched in horror as he continued on. The sounds of the mothers grief stricken screams fallen deaf upon his ears.
“Come on, we have to go.” Tala said, running back to the room, only stopping when she saw the two of you hadn't moved.
“Come on!” she whispered, you and Obi-wan ran back to the room. He kneeled down in front of Leia, placing his hands on her shoulders.
“Go with Tala and Y/n. I'll be right behind you.” he said and you looked at him in shock as he came up to you.
“Get her to Alderaan.”
You shook your head stubbornly
“No Obi-wan, I'm going with you, I'm not leaving you out there with that monster.” you spat out, your hands shook as you grabbed his hands. “I can't lose you too Obi-wan.” which was true, you couldn't stand to the side this time like you did on Mustafar, Obi-wan was just getting his strength back within the force and if he was fighting against Anakin you didn't know what would happen. Obi-wan placed a soft hand on your cheek, his thumb wiping away a tear that you didn't know fell. His eyes gave away what he was feeling but he tried to show a confident front.
“For them, remember?” he whispered. “Promise me, y/n.”
You let out a quiet sob, shaking your head weakly.
“Promise me, please.” he begged desperately.
“I promise.” you relented, your voice cracking under the crushing weight of you sending the person you love the most in life on a death mission. Obi-wan smiled at that, his own eyes getting slightly teary.
“I love you, Starlight.” he said, the nickname he used no longer felt like the warm welcome of coming home after a long night at the cantina on tatooine. No, not at all.
This felt like a goodbye.
“I love you too,” you said, pulling him closer and pressing his lips to yours. The taste of salty tears growing on your tongue as you kissed him desperately for a moment. Far too soon he pulled away, placing a kiss on your forehead and looked over at Tala.
“I'll lead them away, take care of them.” He said, Tala gave him a determined nod.
You watched Tala and Leia run down the hallway before you looked back at Obi-wan.
“Come back to me, alive.” you demanded, you were sure your eyes were red with tracks of tears down your face.
Obi-wan nodded and you turned, sprinting down the long hall to Tala and Leia.
“Leia!” you called out once you saw them down the hall, you sprinted to the small girl and picked her up. Your arms tight around her as hers wrapped around your neck,  you looked over at Tala who watched you in sympathy.
“Lead the way.” you said.
                                                        🖾
There was a constant tug in your chest the further you walked away from Obi-wan, the crying slowed to the occasional tear as you went numb with each passing second. You refused to put Leia down, the little girl afraid that once you stop you were going to collapse.
“Do you think love makes you weaker or stronger?” Padme's voice echoed.
You looked over at your friend and raised a brow, suspicious at the random question.
“Stronger, I suppose.” you said, a smile playing on your face. “I think once you find it, you have to do anything you can to protect that person and that love.”
“How can A jedi say that?” Padme teased. “Love is forbidden.”
You laughed loudly, smiling wide your teeth showed as you shook your head.
“We both know my views on attachment within the Jedi Order, dear friend.”
“You sound like Anakin when you talk like that.” Padme said.
“Oh yes, you would know that wouldn't you.” you teased, smirking at the small flush of pink grow on her face.
“Who sounds like me?” Anakin's voice popped up, you looked over your shoulder and saw him and Obi-wan. Padme leaned forward and whispered in your ear.
“Would you tell Obi-wan what you just told me?”
You stepped back and laughed awkwardly, hands coming up to smooth over your robes calmy.
“Padme, you will be the death of me.” you sighed, “Obi-wan and Ani can deal with your antics now, as i'm off duty.”
“I can walk you back to your room if you'd like.” Obi-wan offered.
You ignored the flutter in your stomach at his offer.
“Sure, give me an update on how Anakin has been giving you a headache lately.”
You smiled at Anakin's offended look and the sound of Obi-wan laughing.
“Don't worry Anakin, during our next sparring session I'll let you vent to me about Obi-wan.”
You spun on your heel and began to walk away, Obi-wan following behind you claiming he has done nothing wrong, but before you turned the corner you heard Padme's voice.
“I wish they could see how much they love each other.”
“Y/n?” Leia's scared voice pulled you away from the force vision, you had braced an arm against the wall. You looked at Leia in your arms and you gently put her down on the ground, running a hand up and down her arm gently.
‘Protect that love.’ you repeated to yourself in your head.
“Leia I-”
“Go.” she said sternly.
You looked at Tala and stood up, taking off the bag of supplies attached to your hip and handed it to Tala.
“I trust you get her on that ship safe and sound?”
“Of course, I'll do everything in my power.” Tala promised sincerely.
“Okay,” you sighed and looked down at Leia. “I promise i'll come back for you.”
Leia ran over and hugged your legs, giving a tight squeeze before she pulled away.
“Bring him back.”
You nodded.
“Yes, princess.”
                                                          🖾
“Forgive me Obi-wan and Master Stass.” you said to yourself as you ran, your feet pounding against the earth. You knew if you were going to fight the man you once knew as Anakin you had to approach it a different way, a smarter way.
Your mind went to Mace Windu, although you did not favor the man much, he had adapted his fighting style from the fighting form called Juyo. The form gave you an advantage but at the cost of surrendering yourself to all sides of the force and chaos.
Dangerous, foolish even, and a move your master would disapprove of.
Knowing Obi-wan he would be smart enough to lead the fight away from the town and it's citizens so you went towards the mining area, it was empty and large and if you knew your husband as well as you thought he did he would be there.
What you weren't expecting was fire, so much fire in fact,  it was practically a sign pointing to danger. And when got to the top of the hill and peered down at the wall of fire only to see Obi-wan burning alive, his screams echoing loudly to the point you winced as Vader and a crowd of stormtroopers just watched
All you saw was red.
You slid down the hill, your saber in your hand as you held out the other to force push the fire out, as if it was a huge gust of air extinguishing the flame. You could barely see Obi-wan anymore as the surroundings around you went dark from the lack of light.
“Bring him to me.”
 You activated your lightsaber, the indigo light illuminating the way as you threw it hard. using the force to manipulate the weapon to move In a wide arc around Vader, killing the stormtroopers in a single move.
your saber flew back into hand, your finger gripping it tight.
You could make out Vader tiling his head, as you emerged from the shadows on his right side, putting yourself between Obi-wan and him like he was surprised you were in his presence.
“You don't get to have him.” you said furiously.
Accepting the darker side of you was easier than you expected. The bubbling growth of power, the hatred you had for the person in front of you, your fear of losing Obi-wan. The longer you bathed in the darkness the quicker the light in you began to flicker out.
“I can sense your hatred, your bitterness, your greed.” The modulated voice said. “You would have made a wonderful sith, but you chose the man who made this.”
Anakin was gone, the good part of him at least but you've learned how to set him off and how to calm him down. You just needed to knock him down enough to make it out with you and Obi-wan.
“Killing Padme wasn't enough for you was it!?” you shouted. “Killing your child wasn't enough for you!?”
“Silence!” Vader yelled. raising his lightsaber and swinging down at you, knowing what his reaction would be, you quickly parried the move. You sound the lightsaber in your hands, performing the move Anakin and Obi-wan taught you so long ago as you swung up, you lightsaber grazing the black armor covering his body leaving a smoldering line of orange heat in its wake. He managed to grab your wrist, and threw you to the ground. The  force of it alone made you gasp for air as he slammed his saber down, at the last second you held yours up to block the hit from landing on your face. The heat from both of your sabers making sweat drip from your brow. You kicked your foot up as high as you could, shouting in pain when the boot met his metal hand, although it allowed you to throw him off just enough to roll away from him and stand on your feet again.
The next few hits from him were relentless, barely giving you time to doge let alone attack but he managed to raise his arms high enough for you to slip in and jab the hilt of your saber in the box on his chest. It dented under the pressure of your attack and spat out a couple sparks, using the force, he slowly lifted you off the ground. You could feel the tightness around your throat as you trashed his grip. Letting out a ferle yell swung your leg out and maged to nik your boot into the underside of his helmet that met his neck. He let out a wheeze and lost his focus on the grip he had, you took the opportunity to try to stab him but his hand met your blade, the force acting as barrier between him and the blade. You grunted and pushed harder, putting everything into just pushing three more inches.
Three more inches and he would be dead.
Vader seemed to grow tired of you and force pushed you back, your back skidding across the rocks as you landed back to where Obi-wan was. You ignored the rocks embedded into the skin of your back and worked yourself up. Not caring how much physical pain you were in, you just wanted Vader to know your mental pain.
“I was there in the temple when you killed the younglings!” you screamed in anguish. “I was there when Padme died, I will not let you take away one of the last few good things left in this galaxy.”
You almost didn't notice Tala in the corner of your eye in your anger, she was perched on the hill you were on not long ago, her blaster aimed and ready at something. You followed where she was aimed with your eyes and saw the generator. Her idea quickly clicked in your mind, you looked back at Vader. You kept fighting the urge to run forward, abodnand all logic and attack him until you couldn't move anymore, you wanted Vader dead and gone.
you could feel yourself fall deeper and deeper in the dark side, you shook your head as if you could shake away the feeling. the only thing you wanted to do was give in to the temptation.
“As much as I want to kill you, this isn't my fight!” you shouted stepping back until you were by Obi-wan.
“You're not a jedi, the look in your eye tells me you are teetering on the darkside Y/n.” Vader said.
You looked over at Tala and raised your hand to signal her to shoot, a blaster shot rang through the air and landed on the generator. The heat from it makes it spark and set aflame the rocks, creating a new wall between you and Vader. You saw Ned-B come up behind you and pick up Obi-wan, he let out a painful groan.
You casted one more look at Vader, who stared at you silently through the flames before you followed the droid to a safe spot and to meet up with Tala. You climbed back up the hill from before and helped lower Obi-wan to the ground.
You kneeled down by his face, putting your hands on his cheeks, you could smell charred flesh and almost threw up when you saw still glowing embers on his burned arm.
“Obi-wan? Can you hear me?”
He kept twitching and groaning, not giving you any sign that he was aware enough to hear you, you could feel his pulse grow rapidly under your finger, his skin grow cold, and his breathing grow more and more irregular.
You knew what was happening, you've seen it too many times during the clone wars. Watching in horror as you master tired to heal their shock ridden bodys of the clones and Jedi.
“Tala, he's gone into shock.” you cried out. quickly moving to his feet to elevate his legs onto your lap holding his legs up as high as you could.
“Ready the transport, we have to get him to Jabiim.” Tala ordered the droid.
You bit your trembling lip as you stared at Obi-wan. you didn't recognize him like this, beaten and so injured his body was shutting down. You wanted to smack yourself for not being able to master force healing. Your master tried so hard to teach you.
“Please don't leave me.” you begged.

Prologue - Chapter 1
The first thing you weren't expecting was the sheer amount of people on Dayiu, crowds and crowds of people of all species muddled around the port station like a swarm. Unlike Tatooine, where if you went at the right time you would find small handfuls of people around.
The second thing was how dark the place was compared to the twin sun planet that never allowed the sky to turn black. You continued to blink rapidly to the sights around you, the right Neon signs bugging your eyes.
You looked down at the data pad tracking the ship they took Leia on, frowning  at how the once moving tracker now was at a standstill.
“All signals in or out get blocked once you enter the planet.” Obi-wan said, walking back from the man he went up to to ask why the datapad wasnt working.
You bit back a groan at that, that fact alone making this place sketchy levels exponentially grow more and more in your mind. Idea of human traffikig or illigal child labor for spice rings running through your head as you thought about what would be happening to Leia at this very moment.
“Okay.” you slid the datapad into the pouch you had attached to the belt around your waist. “We go right into the heart of the city. Just like the lower levels of Coursant I'm sure there will be spice dealers around who are usually aware of what's going on behind the scenes.”
Obi-wan nodded.
“Lead the way then.”
~~~~~
 Neon lights, the smell of food vendors,  and sounds of people fighting on the crowded street was alot for you, almost to the point of overstimulation as the two of you looked around confused on where to go next, Obi-wan sighed with frustration.
“If I ever needed guidance, Master, it's now.” you heard him whisper.
“Spare any credits?” A voice called out to you.
You looked around in confusion for a moment before your eyes landed on the ground, you sucked in a large breath at the sight.
A clone veteran, on the ground with his helmet tipped at you.
You stepped backwards, fear bubbling in you as you looked over at Obi-wan. Who just reached into his robe and dropped the credits into the helmet. You knew the clones that were left in the galaxy did not have a command for Order 66 anymore but seeing the armor once again made you nervous.
“Thank you for the warm meal.” he said as Obi-wan put his hand on your back and guided you away. You cleared your throat, thankful for Obi-wan handling your very rude behavior.
“Out of the way.” A male stormtrooper demanded him and his partner holding blasters in their hands as they patrolled. You and Obi-wan both backed away, waiting until they were at a farther distance before moving again, walking around the corner.
You Spotted a younger woman with pink hair shuffling towards you,  your hand tapped Obi-wan's back.
“There.” you muttered, your eyes meeting the women. You both went still, her face was very sharp and angular as she watched with careful eyes. You watched her for any movement with raised eyebrows.
The impatient look screamed ‘your turn’
She took it as the cue to approach.
“You want some spice, lady?” she asked “I got some Kessel Pure, glitterstim, and Felucian. What do you need.” she offered.
“How about some information?” Obi-wan asked, the pink haired woman eyed him suspiciously. “Were looking for our daughter, she was taken and she's on this planet.” Obi-wan explained
“Well if she's here, you're never going to see her again.” She said, fidgeting in her place. “Nobody ever leaves this place.”
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a contiar of spice.
“I was someone's daughter once too.” She put the spice in Obi-wan's robe. “This ones free but get a few more of those and you'll forget she ever existed.”
You watched in defeat as she walked away.
“That went a lot smoother in my head.” you sighed.
“Having trouble?” a small boy's voice peeped up, you turned around and saw a boy no older than twelve, arms crossed over his langley body. “There's a jedi, he helps people.”
You fought to keep your expression neutral as you squatted down to his level, the kid looked way too young to be even doing this type of work.
“The jedi are all gone.” you said. The little boy raised his brow.
“I can take you to him.” he smirked. “For the right price.”
You scoffed at him, waving a annoyed finger as you reached into your pouch of credits
“You greedy little womp rat.” you grumbled, handing him a handful of credits.
The kid snatched them from your hand and shoved it into his pocket.
“Follow me.”
~~~~~
You and Obi-wan watched behind a wall as a man in robes led a mother and child to a table, however you didn't recognize the man from the temple, and although you didn't know everyone well, spending over 15 years in a place allows you to become aware of the people you spend every day with.
You watched in disappointment as the man grabbed a comm and talked to a person, as the man proceeded to act like he was doing a Jedi mind trick, you cursed and put your head against the wall. You knew you didn't recognize that man for a reason.
‘Stupid scaming kid’ you thought bitterly.
You looked at the situation with even more distaste when you saw the man demand credits from the single mother, rushing them away.
The man slouched at the table and comm back to the man, which is when you decided to show yourself. Casually strolling in you walked up to the table.
“We're looking for a Jedi.” you implored.
“How did you get in here?” the man, who had been called Haja asked, quickly standing up.
“A girl has been kidnapped. We need your help to find her.” Obi-wan said, quickly picking up on your plan to act like he was a true jedi. His face quickly relaxed as he got into his act, raising his hands as the windows closed around the room.
“I'm Haja Estree, jedi” he introduced, you subtly brought a hand to your mouth to cover the twitching smile fighting its way onto your face. “I help all who are in need, all I ask is for a few credits in exchange as the shadows are my realm…for the light is an unforgiving place for my kind.”
“Of course.” Obi-wan sympathized. “How much?”
“Five hundred to locate the girl, another three hundred to take you to her,” he offered.
Your jaw dropped at the outrageous price.
“Goodness that light is unforgiving.” Obi-wan said, brows raised in surprise.
“Oh, make it a thousand and I'll show you some tricks,” Haja raised his hand. “What do you know of the force my friend?”
Obi-wan pulled out his blaster and aimed it at his chest
“Just that it's a lot of remotes and magnets.” Obi-wan said sarcastically.
 You raised your hand and forced pulled the magnets from Hajas gloves, he looked over at you in shock as you pointed at your husband.
“Don't look at me, I'm not the one pointing a blaster at your chest right now.”
Haja chuckled nervously, his arms raised in surrender.
“Okay I know how this looks-”
“It looks like you just took money from that family.” you accused.
“I got them safe!” Haja protested. “Just a little poorer…you're not going to tell anyone are you?”
You shrugged in thought.
“That depends on what you tell us.”
Obi-wan pressed the barrel of the balster harder into Hajas chest.
“You're bottom feeder, a rat who preys on weakness.”
“And a very bad actor!” you chimed in.
“But in my experience,” Obi-wan continued. “Rats know more about the sewers than anyone else.”
Haja scoffed in offensive.
“So judgemental.” he pouted. You rolled your eyes and threw the magnet on the ground, the small piece scattered across the floor and you looked up at him with an unimpressed look.
“Oops.” you said blandly. “You'll help us find the girl or I'll actually show you some jedi tricks.” the threat left your mouth as you stepped closer.
“Yeah alright I'll do it.” he said quickly.
You tilted your head in confusion at the fast surrender.
“You'll help us?” Obi-wan asked, taking a step back when Haja nodded.
“Can we trust you?” you asked, although futile, nowadays the chance of someone stabbing you in the back seemed to be 50/50 the back stabbing more often than not.
“Sure, why not.”
Which led you 20  minutes later, standing in front of a large building surrounded by very large creatures and people gambling on a game right by you. You looked around for any way in, only to be disappointed.
“Well, at least he was honest about not being able to get it.” you muttered, skimming your boot on the ground. When you heard no response from Obi-wan and looked over to where he was staring at, your mind slowly caught up to his idea when you saw two spice makers leave the building, dressed in lab gear.
You looked up at Obi-wan and smiled.
“This is why we make such good partners.” you smirked. “Follow my lead.”
You lifted your arm to be ready to catch the two workers of guards but a pain in your eyes and a flash threw you off step.
“All right Y/n, it's really easy to do a mind trick. you just over think too much.” Anakin said, Standing next to you in the crowded Cantina.
you put an offended hand on your chest and sent Anakin a hurt look.
“I do not!” you protested. “I don't know why I asked you to do it, I was a master before you.”
Anakin raised a brow.
“If my lack of experience is the issue, I can always get Obi-wan to come help?” he teased. You looked up at him and pointed your finger at him.
“Dont.” you warned. “Ill-ill listen, I'm just embarrassed, okay?”
Anakin's teasing look went away and he put a hand on your shoulder.
“Sometimes I forget how much older you are than me, Master y/n.” you winced at his words, liking the start of a pep talk reminding you of your age. “Jedis struggle with things all the time, what matters is that they try to move past it; there's no time limit on learning the ways of the force.”
You looked up at him, a small grin on your face.
“Alright Master Skywalker,” you teased. “Teach this padawan how to get a drink from one of these guys.”
You came back to the middle of the street with Obi-wans shaking you gently on your shoulder, you blinked for a moment before you realized what happened.
Why did you have a force vision of you and Anakin in the past?
You swallowed nervously, you haven't had a force vision in so long, the last time was years before the republic fell due to the council talking to you about the dangers of force visions and Psychometry when you went to them about having them often.
The fear they distilled into you had made them go away.
Until now, at least.
“Y/n?” Obi-wan called out urgently, a hand hovering over your shoulder.
You shook your head and waved Obi-wan's hand away, claiming you were okay.
“I'll tell you later.” you mumbled.
Ignoring Obi-wan's unconvinced gaze, you crossed the street, heading down the same alley the two workers went. Obi-wan maneuvered quickly and grabbed one of the man's head and smacked it against the wall, you and the other worker watched them crumple to the ground.
“Hey! What are you-” the other spat out but you waved your hand in front of their face.
“You will give me your work gear.” you said confidently, you haven't done a mind trick in so long you weren't sure it would work.
You watched the guy's face relax and nod.
“I will give you my work gear.” he said, his hands going for his goggles, oxygen mask, and blue poncho.  You waved your hand one more time when he handed you the items, now only in an undershirt and pants.
“You will go home and rethink your life choices.” you said, and the man repeated the words back before soundly walking away. You saw Obi-wan stare at you, a soft look in his eyes.
“Seems like you might be enjoying this a little too much.” he said, putting on his mask. You shrugged on the poncho and goggles.
“I will not confirm or deny that statement.” you said, your voice muffled by your own mask.
“Come on,” Obi-wan said. “I'd like to get in and out of this building sooner rather than later.
“Yes sir.” you saluted, following him into the building.
The sounds of chemicals bubbling in the crowded lab, splitting off from each other, you went to the opposite side from Obi-wan. You shuffled near the man standing by the door, looking at the shelves of spice to act like you were doing something.
You side-eyed Obi-wan and raised your hand giving the signal, he raised a heat to the boiler and stepped away. You held your breath as you watched the blue chemical grow hotter and hotter until it exploded.
Taking advantage of all the people clamoring, you pickpocketed the scan code from the large man and opened the door, holding it open for Obi-wan to slip through with ease.
Taking off your mask and googling, you patted Obi-wan on the back.
“Good job, love.”
You and Obi-wan start walking down the hall, peering into rooms when you hear footsteps behind you.
“Hey! What are you doing back here?” A lab worker asked.
You closed your eyes and cursed when they came up right behind the two of you.
“Oh, we seem to have lost our way.” Obi-wan kindly said, a light smile playing on his face.
“Well..get back to work.” the worker said, Obi-wan looked at you and nodded.
He spun around slamming his elbow in one of the guys' noses, the worker stumbled backwards. You turned to the smaller man in front of you and rolled under his legs, popping up behind him and kicking in the back of his knees. The man quickly scrambled up and side kicked you across the face, the tip of his boot hitting your jaw. You groaned in pain, your hand shooting up to hold your jaw as bloody spit dribbled down your chin. Through squinting eyes you saw Obi-wan tackle his guy to the ground.
You glared at the man in black jacket and marched up to him, grabbing your hands and wrapping him around his neck, yanking his head down onto your knee. Wincing as the hard bone hitting the joint as you shoved him backward into Obi-wan's grip, he grabbed him by the throat and pinned him against the wall leaning in close to his ear.
“Where is the girl?” He growled.
The man breathed heavily. the welt on his head from your knee already goring to a concerning size.
“Down the hall, take a left and the second door on right.” he whimpered, grabbing your vibroblade from your boot and you slammed the hilt into his temple. You didn't want him running off to tell anyone you were here if you left him. You watched him fall to the ground and stepped away. You and Obi-wan quickly made your way down the hallway as the blood kept dripping from your lips and began to dry on your chin, making you cringe in disgust.
Obi-wan ran up to the door and slid in the key and opened the door, there was a single chair in the center of the room and Leia was completely quiet.
In fact, you didn't even feel a life force in the room.
“Obi-wan wai-” you grunted as something wrapped around your arm, pushing you backwards and slammed you into a wall, wincing at the back of your head hitting the metal as you looked at the person who manhandled you.
A tall green man with a long ponytail holds you by your throat now, his long fingernails digging into the skin as Obi-wan got pinned by his arms right next to you.
A Bald man walked in soon after, a fascinated look on his face when he looked at both of you.
“I didn't know a jedi could bleed.” he said, leaning in to look at blood smeared into Obi-wan's beard right below his nose.
The man dropped his arm and chuckled.
“I can't believe you fell for it, I assumed you'd be smarter than to risk everything for a spoiled little brat.”  he said, punching Obi-wan in the stomach at the last word. You gasped around the hold on  your throat as you struggled to get to Obi-wan.
The man reached inside Obi-wan's robe and pulled out his lightsaber.
“Wow the inquisitor really figured you out Kenobi, don't worry she'll be here soon and well be rich and you'll be dead.”
 A loud wheeze escapes your mouth as your vision grows spotted around the edge. your hands coming up to try to pull and loosen the hand around you, tried to kick the man holding you but all you got in return was the man stepping closer and pinning his body against yours.
The bald man turned to you and laughed.
“Don't think I haven't forgotten about you too” he teased, walking up to you. “Tell me, do you have your saber as well?” his hand slowly grazing up your hip and moving the long fabric revealing your lightsaber on your thigh harness.
“Ah quite predictable you lot are,” he faux surprise as he took the weapon.
Desperately needing air you twisted your hand and flicked forward, the man who pinned you to the wall stumbled backwards,  you quickly raised your hands in surrender when a balster was aimed at your head.
Your chest heaved, feeling less and less light headed the more air you inhaled as you stared at the bald man in front of you.
“Tell your guy he would suck in the bedroom if he choked every person like that.” you wheezed out, your voice similar to nails on a chalkboard as you spoke. You pressed your back against the wall and kept your arms up in surrender to show you weren't going to make a run for it.
“That was a risky move, jedi.” he said, pointing your own saber at you.
Obi-wan was angry, angier than you've seen him in years when he watched you get choked. He struggled against the people holding him back. You held his eye contact and tried to communicate with your eyes, telling him you were okay.
“Where's the girl?” you demanded. “I know she's close.”
“It doesn't matter! You're not getting out of here!” he shouted. “You're not jedis anymore Mr and Mrs Kenobi '' he drawled on, Mockery seeping at every syllable but you didn't think he knew the accuracy of that statement.
“You're just a person, and you're bleeding all over my floor.” he said, referencing your bloody mouth. Being petty you spat on the floor, the mix of saliva and blood landing on his boot.
“Well,” Obi-wan piped up. “Everyone bleeds.” and with that he slammed a vile on the ground and spice filled the air. You fumbled for your mask and pulled it over your face while Obi-wan shot forward and punched the man hard in the stomach and grabbed both of your lightsabers as you stumbled out of the room and closed the door.
You leaned against the wall for a moment, your body throbbing at all angles from the abuse you'd taken from the small amount of time you've been in this building. You looked into your reflection in the metal and looked at the claw marks on the newly created galaxy of red and purple on your neck.
“Oh sweetheart.” Obi-wan said when you looked over at him, his eyes were not leaving your neck as he spoke.
“It's okay, I have a bacta patch on me.” you said, your shaky hand going for the pouch attached to your waist belt, pulling out the patch and a wipe for your face. You worked fast so you didn't waste too much time as you cleaned your face and neck, tossing the blood dyed wipe on the ground and you placed the sticky patch on the worst area of your neck and the start of your jaw.
“Okay,” you said, already feeling the healing effects. “Let's go find Leia.”
You and Obi-wan had each taken a side of the hall, checking each and every room for the little girl. You were looking in another empty room when you heard a loud grunt and a small.
“Let go of me!”
You ran out and saw Obi-wan pick up Leia and go back into the room. You jogged over and saw Leia stumble back and look at Obi-wan terrified.
“Your father sent me, we're here to help.” he tried to convince her but it didn't work.
You kneeled on the ground, putting your lightsaber on the ground you raised your hands.
“Leia.” you called out as soft as you could with the slight croak in your voice still. “Your dad, Bail Organa sent us here to come save you, I used to protect your dad when he was younger too.” Leia turned and looked at you.
“Where's the army?” she questioned.
“There's no army, it'd be too dangerous but we're here to get you home.” you said as you stood back up, clipping your saber back on you and Obi-wan held out a hand.
“Come on, little one.” he said, grabbing Leia's hand.
“Why should I trust you?” she mumbled.
“Because we're nicer than the people in this place.” you said.
~~~~
You slipped off your poncho before you kneeled down and helped Leia change out of the poncho that was so big hung at her ankles.
“So you're both jedi?” she asked and Obi-wan shushed her
“It's just that you seem kind of old and beat up.” she said innocently. You sighed as you grabbed the fabric from her hands and placed it off to the side.
“There is a port across the city, we need to make it there before the last transport leaves.” you explained to her.
“Okay then let's go!” she exclaimed and started walking off, you snatched your hand out and pulled her away from a large creature she almost ran into, it looked down and growled at her. You picked her up and adjusted her in your grip so she was looking at you.
“You have no idea what we're risking being here, your highness.” you whispered seriously. “From now on you'll do exactly as your told”
Leia looked frightened but nodded.
“Good, now come on.” you said putting her down, and held her hand as the three of you headed down the street.
You had made it three streets over when you started seeing bounty photos of you and Obi-wan on holoprojectors. You and Obi-wan shared a nervous glance at your names and faces now being seen everywhere. You leaned forward and pulled Obi-wan's hood over his face.
“You're more recognizable,” you whispered in his ear, your eye catching a clothing vendor near you. “There's a vendor right by us, we'll get Leia and I something to cover our faces.
It didn't take long for you to pick a green cape for Leia and a black one for you, as Obi-wan paid.
You were kneeled in front of her, clasping each button as she looked at you oddly. You raised a brow back.
“What is it?”
“Do I know you?” she asked, you looked at her for a moment as you leaned back.
There was no possible way she would remember you.
Unsure what to say, Obi-wan saved you by calling you two over.
“Come on.” you urged, pulling the hood over your head. Dragging Leia over to Obi-wan.
“If anyone asks, we're farmers from Tawl and you're our daughter.” he explained ].
“Granddaughter maybe.” she mumbled under her breath, you laughed in shock at the remark.
“What?” Obi-wan leaned in.
“Nothing!” she said sweetly.
During your travels you ended up having to pick up and carry Leia on her hip, the ten year old had a terrible habit of running off and getting distracted.
“Where are we?” she questions.
“Daiyu.” Obi-wan responded, his hand hasn't left you back once since you've been holding her.
“It's incredible.” she whispered in awe and you shook your head.
“That's one word you can use I suppose.”
She stayed silent for a moment before you spoke again.
“How come you aren't using your lightsabers?” you and Obi-wan remained silent. “Maybe because you aren't real jedis,” she theorized. “I heard they all died.”
You took a deep breath, your annoyance growing slightly with each question.
“You haven't even told me your names.” she pointed out.
“My name is Kilian and this is Ben.” you introduced, not quite ready to use your real names around a loud mouth child until you were in a safer place.
“Those don't sound like Jedi names.” she said suspiracly.
“Those are our names, you're going to have to trust us eventually.” Obi-wan said.
“How can I trust you when I know you're hiding something.”
You and Obi-wan slowed down for a moment and looked at the little girl in your arms.
“You think the less you say, the less you give away. But really it's the opposite.” Leia said, her tone clear and concise. For a moment you saw Padme shine through and it took your breath away.
“How old are you?” Obi-wan asked incredulously.
“Ten!”
You and Obi-wan smirked.
“You don't sound like you're ten.” he said, continuing walking. “Thank you.” she said proudly.
You spotted three bounty hunters walking towards you and you grabbed Obi-wan's robe and pulled him behind a cart, blocking the three of you from sight. You put Leia down, needing both hands free if one of the bounty hunters found you later on and attacked you.
The three of you then decided to hide in an alley for a bit for a break, once Leia got comfortable you walked over to Obi-wan.
“I'm going to go take a look around, see how surrounded we are. You whispered, glancing over your shoulder to look at Leia to make sure she isn't looking or listening to you. “Stay by her side, distract her for a bit. She was shaking in my arms the whole time I was holding her.”
You reached your hand out and squeezed his hand, he looked down and smiled at you and quickly pressed a kiss to your forehead before you walked back out the alley.
You pulled your hood over your face and stepped out into the main street, farther up the street you could see a small crowd of stormtroopers and a few bounty hunters walking up and down the street. Obi-wan's face was mostly projector everywhere, the empire taking more of interest in him than you but you still saw your face plastered around a concerning amount.
“Leia!” you heard a shout, turning on your heel you sprintied back to the alleyway to find Obi-wan and Leia gone.
“Shit!” you yelled, a group of pedrestings looking at you as you kicked a crate.
You weren't sure what to do, it wasn't possible for you to ask around asking who saw them without sending more bounty hunters after them and you.
 “If you have the chance, always get the high ground.” Obi-wan's instructions.
You and him were in a training area outside the temple, sabers drawn as you slowly circle each other.
“General Kenobi,” you teased. “Do you think of me so lowly I wouldn't remember basic defensive techniques?”
Obi-wan smiled as you ran in, your lightsaber clashing against his loudly, a large blue light emitting from both your sabers made the air fizzle in a blue hue around you.
“How about you get above me and show me what my techniquess look like from below.” you said, Obi-wan's face flushed red as he sputtered
“I'm sorry what-” he let out a yelp when you ducked low and kicked his legs out from under him and fell on his back, placing your boot on his chest and pointing your saber at his neck.
“I win.” you smirked.
You flinched when the force vision disappeared again, thankful for the quick glimpse of the past as you ran up to the ladder on the side of the building. You scanned over the city searching for any sign of the two, only to be left with nothing.
Until you saw a burst of blaster going off five rooftops over.
You jump immediately into action, sprinting as fast as you could over the roof, your body going into autopilot as you vaulted over a vent. As you jumped over the gap between buildings you saw a figure in all black a few feet from you running as well. After they ran under a light you quickly realized the face of the inquisitor from Tatooine.
You skidded to a stop and shot your arms out, putting all your focus into the force and forced pushed the woman to lose her balance and grunted as she fell to ground. You breathed heavily at the exertion as you grabbed your lightsaber.
She stood up and her gaze found you immediately even from three rooftops away.
You put your focus into balancing your force signature into a calm state as you watched her silently, your gaze dark and threatening.
“I recognize you, Y/n Marilla,” she said loudly. “In the archives, you were commander for Obi-wan Kenobi's ship during the clone wars and the same connections Kenobi has with the Organa family.” she spoke dangerously. “You're not as smart as the archives said, coming out of hiding like this is a death sentence.”
“You've done your homework!” you said sarcastclly, walking closer to the edge of the roof. “But you got one thing wrong.”
“And what is that?” she said slowly.
“My last name isn't Marilla anymore!” you said, distracting her while hiding your hand behind your back as you slowly lifted a large metal crate on the rooftop the inquisitor stood on, you quietly grunted under all the pressure holding up such a large object.
“It's Kenobi!” you shouted, watching her face twist in disgust and hate as you threw your hand down. The crate dropped down, on the roof and thank the force it had done what you wanted as it crashed the roof in making the woman fall through and giving you and Obi-wan and Leia a chance to get away from her.
You shot off again, going towards the building that was having balster going off every second but was now silent. The two must've gotten away during your confrontation with the inquisitor. You jumped down to another building and saw a man there, he quickly turned around.
“Haja?” you asked in surprise. “What are you doing here?”
“I'm trying to help you!” he yelled, and you stared at him in confusion.
“No questions, just follow me. I know where your friend is.” he said.
~~~`
Haja had led you back to the transport station, you grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
“You just told me they locked down the entire city, there is no point for us to be here.”
Haja pointed down an alleyway, walking despite your tugging on his arm to deter him away.
“But they don't know that!” Haja said, quickly aiming his blaster and shooting something, you looked around Haja frame and saw Obi-wan and Leia there, with a dead bounty hunter on the ground.
“Ben.” you sighed in pure relief, quickly walking over to him and hugging him tightly. Obi-wan said your name like a prayer as he hugged you back.
“I'm never leaving you on your own with a child again,” you laughed. “I was gone for ten minutes.” you pulled away from him, and patted his shoulder. You knew you would have a more private time to celebrate the joys of either you becoming a widow or a widower today.
“Haja, update Ben on what's going on please.” you asked as you looked down at Leia, kneeling down to her level and pulled her into a hug.
“Are you okay?” you said, patting your hands on her body to feel for blood or broken bones.
“Yup! Ben saved me from falling off a roof with the force.” she said casually.
That took you a moment to process, unlike you Obi-wan fully detached himself from the force or anything relating back to the jedi order. So hearing he managed to connect to force again so quickly after years surprised you.
“That's good,” you said, looking above you at the roofs towering over you to see if the inquisitor would pop up. Grabbing Leia's hand, you walked up to Obi-wans and Haja, who was handing him the coordinates to Mapuzo. “You expect me to trust you? You're a criminal?” Obi-wan said.
“I trust him,” you butted in looking at Haja. “You heard what he said, he's trying to make amends for what he has done. And I think we both understand that.” you gave him a pointed look.
“You're not alone Obi-wan,” Haja whispered. “I'll buy you as much time as I can.” and with that he turned around, shot the bounty droid one more time and disappeared.
~~~
The cargo port was bigger than you expected it to be, even when you saw it from miles down below in the alley it was still deceptive to its real size.
“We must be careful,” obi-wan warned, carefully inspecting the area for anything suspicious.this is a cargo port it's not meant for people.”
“Good,” Leia said cheerfully. “Then they won't look for us here.”
“Well, not unless it's a setup.” Obi-wan cationed and you agreed silently with him, although Haja seemed to only want to good something good you could never really know a person's
 intentions in this situation.
“Is it that hard to believe you might have friends?” Leia asked, walking backwards looking at the two of you. “Look, since I met you, I've been chased, shot at, and I almost fell to my death.”
Obi-wan looked at you guilty at the last fact, looking like a child who got caught stealing candy but you raised a hand, cutting him off before he said anything.
“She already told me.” you sighed.
“And now there's inqusting people after us,” Leia added.
“If someone is offering us help, I think we should take it.”
You and Obi-wan stood still at her words, watching her walk a few steps before she turned around.
“What now?” she sighed, and Obi-wan placed his hands together just watching the girl for a moment.
“Nothing, you just remind me of someone.” he said, taking a step, “She was fearless, too and stubborn.”
Leia took offense to that.
“I'm not stubborn.”
You laughed and shook your head.
“Yes, you are.”
“I'm not!” she snapped and you raised a brow.
“Was your friend a jedi too?” she asked Obi-wan.
“No, she was a leader.” Obi-wan said. “She died a long time ago.”
“Oh,” Leia spoke. “I'm sorry.”
The sound of door clanking made both you and Obi-wan turn at the sound, he moved quickly and dragged Leia behind a shipping container. You moved to the one opposite of them, keeping your back flat against the metal watching as Obi-wan looked around the edge to see who it was.
Although your stomach dropped at the sound of a lightsaber being activated.
“Obi-wan.” a voice taunted out.
You saw Obi-wan hand Leia the coordinate card and had her run to the cargo ship, once she was on the ship he ducked over to your side. His hands clutching his lightsaber so tight his knuckles were white.
“I can feel you.” she said, “Or is that your wife i'm sensing?”
You felt Obi-wan grow stiff at the mention, and look at you but you ignored his gaze. Instead opting for trying to sense the woman's force signature but getting nothing except a small fuzz around you.
“Your fear betrays you.”
You took a sharp breath as you heard the buzzing of the light saber come closer, small flashes of red illuminating the ground every few seconds. The sight of the saber alone made you twitch nervously, you knew what the process was to get a red lightsaber and scared you enormously.
“You two don't have to worry, you're not going to die.” she comforted. “Today.”
“I'm just going to take you to him,” she said. “Lord Vader will be pleased I bought two former jedi.”
Terror sucked the breath from you mouth at the mention of Darth Vader, it couldnt be possible. Obi-wan showed you himself that he left Anakin's burned and dismembered body at the shore of the lava lake. There was no way he made it that night.
“Oh, you didn't know?” she said in surprise. “He's alive, Obi-wan.”
You looked over at Obi-wan, but he started blankly ahead, face full of fear as she continued talking.
“Anakin Skywalker is alive” she hissed, “And he's been looking for you for a long time.”
“And  I will be the one who will deliver you to him.” she said, and two boxes right your head flew off the container and you squatted down, covering your head.
“Third sister! I can stand the reek of your ambition no longer.” a man yelled.
“I found him! We have him, both of them.” she said.
“And I cannot risk you losing them again. So move aside.” he warned, you quickly pushed Obi-wan to move over, you both stood now looking through a gap between the boxes. You didn't recognize the gray skinned man, who had pale eyes, and black marking on his head. You watched as he raised his hands at the box you both stood behind.
“Watch and learn,” he said.
In a blink of an eye the third sister shot forward and stabbed him in the stomach with her lightsaber. You and Obi-wan watched in shock as she pushed the blade deep and leaned in to whisper.
“You really think I'd let you take all the credit?” she seethed. You and Obi-wan took the moment to sprint off toward Leia, who was standing by the door waiting for you to come,  she smacked the button to close and you both jumped in right before the door closed. You spun and looked at the window on the door and saw the third sister at the dock yelling something but it fell upon deaf eyes over the sound of the ship taking off.
You and Obi-wan sat in shock as you processed what she had said.
“Anakin.” Obi-wan breathed out shakely and you turned to him and grabbed his hand.
“Breathe Obi-wan,” you said, moving in front of him so you can make him look you in the eyes.
He could no longer control his hands; they were trembling rhythm and he gripped your hand tight. As he shook his head, his mouth opened and closed as he tried to find the words, you pulled him into your arms and held on tight, ignoring Leia as she asked if you two were okay.
You weren't.
But that didn't stop you from telling the man hyperventilation in your arms that.
You raked your hands through the copper blonde hair as you whispered in his ears, telling him you were both okay now and that you'll both figure something out. But he never responded besides a low monotone repeating of Anakin's name.
Prologue
Tumblr media
You hated nighttime.
Especially the nights you would shoot yourself out of bed in the middle of the night due to your mind reliving memories you wished would leave you. But the war, the screaming, the bloodshed, and the mistakes you've made in the past haunted you and every breath you took.
Your chest heaved as you blinked rapidly, your eyes adjusting to being open as you took in your surroundings. The small and familiar hut in a cave provides a soothing comfort as you sit on the small bed you shared with Obi-wan. Your hair toppled down your shoulder grazing your bare arms as you shuddered from the cold desert air blowing in creating goose bumps to appear on your skin.
You closed your eyes again for a moment but images from your nightmare came quickly flowing back.
You hated the nights you couldn't fall back asleep even more.
Sighing, you lifted the blanket from your body and stood up. Your back popping as you stretch the sleep away from your muscles. Looking down you stared at the sleeping man below. who had been knocked out cold after a day in the sun before you got home from your own job.
“At least one of us gets a nice night of sleep.” you whispered quietly.
You grabbed your shawl from the floor and draped it over your shoulders, you weren't sure what time it was but you knew it was way too early for you to be awake. You stood awkwardly in the middle of the place, unsure of what to do. Your options for entertainment are already limited on any other day, but even more so when your overworked husband was sleeping a mere few feet away.
Until your eyes landed on the large metal pool you kept in the corner of the cave. You stared at it in thought, it was early so you'd be safe from anyone witnessing you and be safe from Obi-wan's scolding if you were to practice right now.
While Obi-wan had completely sealed himself from the force, you still kept in touch with it much to Obi-wan’s disappointment. Although not as much as your younger self did but enough to keep you occupied a few nights a week if you were lucky. From practicing small mind tricks on animals, levitating objects around your small home, and last but not least practicing your lightsaber skills.
With a mental stick you had managed to steal from a scraper site since your actual lightsaber was buried deep in the sands of Tatooine.
You slid on your boots and grabbed the pole and headed outside giving one more glance to Obi-wan's sleeping form as you stepped away.
Tatooine had no moon on the planet, but  instead had two suns so it never truly became fully dark. Which had made sleeping even more of a task than it already was before having to keep scraps of fabric on any possible crevice light could come in. at least it was convenient on the nights you sneak out.
You never moved too far from the entrance to your home, always keeping the place in your line of sight. After an incident where you strayed too far from the cave and didn't hear or see Obi-wan come up behind you resulting in you slamming the pole right into his stomach you promised you wouldn't let that happen again.
 Twirling the pole in your hand, you did a couple practice swings in the air, stretching your muscles in your shoulders and arms warming your body up. the weight was heavy in your hand as you began to move. Your mind went to your master, Stass Allie as you went to strike your imaginary enemy. The stern but kind woman had specialized in force healing but also was one of the best lightsaber duelists you've ever seen and was the main reason you were the Jedi you were. You had hoped dearly that she had made it out alive when order 66 was implemented.
You shook your head to get rid of the thought as your body went on autopilot. You grunted as you threw the pole and quickly brought it back with the force. You kept your breath low and steady as you got on your knees, your body performing the moves that allowed you to attack a person's legs before rolling back up, switching the pole in your opposite hand as you turned around quickly, redoing the stances of basic lightsaber forms again. Getting used to the unbalance of attacking  with your nondominant hand.
You smiled at the familiar feeling, you felt like you again even for just a brief moment as you pretended you were back in the temple and your and your friends lives weren't ripped apart by the empire.
You had to give up your actual name in public places, opting for ‘Kilian’ to avoid anyone connecting the dots of your identity, leaving your home on Coursant, and getting rid of your saber. And although you would do it again if it meant protecting the twins and being with Obi-wan, you would be lying if you said you felt like you lost a huge part of yourself. You gritted your teeth and slammed the pole right into a rock, metal bending awkwardly to the right when you staggered away.
“Y/n.” a voice you very quickly recognized as Obi-wans called out to you, dropping the bent makeshift weapon you looked over at him.
Expecting the usual look of disappointment, all you found was worry.
You panted from the exertion, you sat down on a small rock and hung your head between your legs.
“Stupid pole.”  You heaved, not enjoying the slight twinge of pain in your hip. “What are you doing up?” you asked.
“The same reason you're awake, I assume.” Obi-wan sighed
You heard the sound of boots grazing the rocks on the ground, keeping your eyes low until the man in front of you kneeled down in front of you.
“Bad night?” he asked.
“Bad night.” you echoed pathetically.
Slowly looking up you came eye to eye with Obi-wan, his hand coming up and pressing into the tender muscle of your hip. You groaned at the feeling and leaned forward until your head planted on his chest, thankful he knows you well enough to do the small action without asking.
“Kriff, I love you, do you know that?” you said, relaxing at the small massage his large hands gave you, you moaned softly at the relief of the knot coming undone.
“I have a faint idea.” he mumbled, his hands leaving your hip and opting to grab your hand, his fingers running over the small band around your finger. Although you and Obi-wan never got officially married, you both had made rings soon after you arrived on Tatooine and called it good enough. No one else needed to know besides you two anyway.
“Did you have a nightmare?” he asked, you looked up from his chest and shrugged as if it was no big deal.
“Ah you know, just the usual.” you said, “I'm assuming you did as well?”
Obi-wan looked down, his sheltered reaction confirming the obvious.
“Glad to see nothing has changed in the Kenobi household.” you joked sadly, although you enjoyed the small laugh the man let out. He looked up at you, and you pushed the longer copper strands away from his eyes.
Obi-wan truly hasn't changed too much in the last ten years, the mullet he sported years before had returned and his beard had grown a tad longer. With some fine lines around his eyes, most likely due to the powerful rays of two suns and the constant squinting during the mid afternoon as he worked outside. He still remained the unfairly handsome man you met decades ago in your eyes.
“Quit judging the old man.” he said, you gasped at that and jokingly pulled at the roots of his hair lightly, smirking at the quiet groan he let out under your grip.
“I'm not! I'm admiring you and plus you only have five years on me.” you said, running your hands down until each one was on each side of his jaw. You leaned forward and kissed him, happily accepting Obi-wan's grip returning to your hip as you deepened the kiss. He gave you a few more moments before he reluctantly pulled away.
“Come back to bed,” Obi-wan said, you sighed at the thought of going back to the nightmares.
“I know, I feel the same way but I know you work tomorrow and you need some sleep.” Obi-wan said, already noticing your apprehension to the idea.
You just nodded in defeat, you knew he was right. You worked at the local tavern in the town and although you didn't go to work early you worked late often.
You stood up and grabbed the pole, Obi-wan following beside you as you both walked back home.
As the two of you laid back down, you reached for Obi-wan as you curled up under his larger frame, tucking your head under his chin.
“Tomorrow morning, you think we can go check up on Luke?” you asked, sleep already reclaiming your mind. “It's been a few weeks since I was able to go with you.” your voice trailed off at the end, letting your eyes fall shut.
“Of course, Love.” Obi-wan said, but he received soft snores in response.
🖾
You and Obi-wan sat silently on the small mountain that overlooked the Lars residence, it had been weeks since you had come with Obi-wan to do your weekly check in on him. You were catching up on sleep from the unruly schedule your job had from work and your insomnia. In result, you slept in late today as well, having to take the very, very old speeder bike you managed to buy off one of your regulars for a good deal to meet up with Obi-wan who had left an hour before. The two of you both held binoculars to your eyes as you watched Luke run away from his chores.
“Where is that kid going?” you mumbled to yourself, watching Owen Lars stop what he was doing and looked for Luke.
You watched as Obi-wan scanned the larger area surrounding their home, but you kept your eyes on the side of the house. Chuckling at the sight of Luke climbing onto the roof and sliding goggles over his head.
Your smile dropped as you then saw him act like he was podracing, you put down the binoculars and watched in disbelief. That was the most Anakin-like thing you've ever seen the kid do, and you wouldn't be lying if you said that the sight alone did not punch a hole of grief into your stomach.
“Wow.” you mumbled, looking over at your husband as he slowly lowers his own binoculars.
Obi-wan stayed silent as he started ahead. You wish you knew what he was thinking at that moment of seeing the spitting image of his friend. You were about to comfort him but heard you watch beep at you and you cursed, quickly standing up. You dusted off your pants as you grabbed your stuff.
“You need better time management, Starlight.” Obi-wan said, looking up at you. You ignored the way the new nickname turned your face red as you rolled your eyes.
“Ha-ha.” you said displeased, leaning down and kissing his head. “I'll be back later tonight, I love you.”
You stepped toward the cliff edge and peered over, the drop wasn't too far and you could see your bike right below you.
“Why must you insist on taking the most unsafe routes?” Obi-wan chastised, you looked over your shoulder as you crouched down.
“Because it's fun.” and with that you dropped down and landed on the seat of your bike on your feet, the uneven weight making you wobble as you sat down on it properly. You looked up and saw Obi-wan looking over the edge, a small smile on his face as you waved to him and sped off.
🖾
The day after seeing Luke, the Tavern was disgustingly slow. To the point you should've just stayed home since the jobs pay was terrible without tips. You sighed as you closed the bar early, as one of your co-workers told you to just go home.
So when you were walking through town you didn't expect to see Obi-wan and Owen Lars talking to each other. Owen's face was tight with annoyance as you heard his voice the closer you got to them.
“Anakin is dead Ben,” Owen reminded. “And I won't let you make the same mistake twice.”
You sighed, knowing Obi-wan once again pushed the boundary Owen had set with Luke. although you hated it you kept your distance so you avoided situations like this.
“Owen,” you called at, your voice hard. “Let's not go to cheapshots, shall we?” you stopped in front of him. You had seen Owen in town more often than Obi-wan had, as he stopped in once in a while for a drink and something to eat. You had the opportunity to see Luke once with him as well, he reluctantly allowed you to introduce yourself. You knew he was protective of his nephew but you knew Obi-wan was as well.
“I know you care, and I don't hold that against you but you have to understand we are not trying to make him a soldier or anything like that.” you kept your voice low so no one could hear you. “We care about him too, and the sooner you see that the easier this will make everything. Don't forget without us you wouldn't even know that little boy was alive right now so don't directly insult my husband for a tragedy he had no control over.”
Owen just looked at your silence for a moment before he shook his head.
“Leave him on the farm, with his family, where he belongs.” he warned before he walked away.
You sighed and pinched your nose, shaking your head.
“ Why is he so stubborn-” You halted your sentence as you heard the shouts of the villagers.
“Move,” A deep voice rattled. “Move! Get out of the way.”
Your fight or flight activated as you saw the figure in all black armor walk down the street pushing away citizens in their way.
“Behind the wall, go.” Obi-wan hurried, his voice in a quiet rush as the both of you backed against the wall.
“You know why we are here,” a man with a ragged voice announced, his face green contrasting poorly with the black armor. “There is a jedi hiding on this planet and we need to know where he is! Tell us the location and you will be rewarded well.”
“Or you'll be punished!” a woman's voice called out, as she walked down the street. Tall and powerful as she sauntered around the crowd. “Hands go first! That way, when you reach for anything you will think of us.” she warned.
You watched an older woman begin to yell at the inquisitor.
“This is the outer rim!” a woman's voice called out. “You have no rights here.”
You watched as the inquisitor turned to the woman, her hand moving toward her saber. You stepped forward on instinct, your body wanting to help but Obi-wan arm flew out and kept you pushed against the wall.
“Don’t.” he hissed.
The Inquisitor  turned on her saber and quickly sliced off the woman's hand, your hand flew to your mouth as the crowd around you gasped at the screaming woman.
“All we want is information!” she yelled circling around the crowd like a predator. “If anyone knows anything about a jedi…” her voice trailed off when she looked at Owen.
“You know something?” she questioned, Owen shook his head.
“What's your name?” she asked, her tone calmer than before.
“Owen,” he said.
“Owen,” she echoed, as if getting used to his name on her tongue. “Farmer, right? Have a wife? A kid?”
“My family’s of no concern for you.” he said, and you wanted to smack him across the face at the attitude.
“Might be, you got a Jedi on that farm too?”
“No.” Owen replied. “I have no love for the jedi, they are vermin and I kill vermin on my farm.”
You began to search for any possible escape routes, heart pounding so hard you could hear it. Owen was going to sell you out.
“You protect your family,” she said, stepping forward and adjusting his vest. “I like that Owen.”
She leaned forward and looked him in the eyes.
“You think you can protect them from me?” she asked.
When Owen said nothing, you almost cried in relief.
“Tell me where the Jedi is, or this man and his family die!” she shouted. You launched forward, but Obi-wan once again shoved you back against the wall.
“Damn it Ben,” you seethed, not even daring letting anyone of those monsters hear his real name right now. “She is threatening Luke!” you whispered.
“The Jedi are cowards! They abandoned you! And you do not need to protect them because they will not do the same for you.”  she shouted and looked at Owen. She stepped forward and hovered the blade right in front of his neck. You curled your fists, digging your nails into your palm as you watched Owen stand still, but his face showed fear.
You heard a hand slam down on a crate.
“Enough!”  the green man shouted. “If you remember anything, a reward will be given.” he told the crowd.
“Stand down Third sister.” the man warned, you watched her glare and held her blade up. “Now!”
She deactivated her saber and walked away, you waited until they were out of sight before you ripped Obi-wan's arm away and headed toward Owen.
“Are you okay?” you asked.
“Yes, I'm fine.” he replied curtly.
“Owen,” you said as quietly as possible. “If I had sensed those people coming I would've told you not to come to town today, I'm so sorry.” you said, the apology sincere. Being able to sense people like that is a large reason you kept your connection to the force in the first place. Owen looked at you and nodded.
“I know.”
You heard Obi-wan come up behind you, his hand grazing your lower back as if you would slip away again.
“Thank you owen.” Obi-wan said, the farmer glared at him.
“I didn't do it for you.” he  said distastefully before walking off.
 You felt your heart hammer in your chest, if that went any worse and Owen Gave away you and Obi-wan's position you'd be dead right now. You felt bile at the back of your throat as you stepped away from the man behind you and threw up. You didn't want to think of the odd looks you were getting right now as Obi-wan pulled back your hair as you quite literally threw up the adrenaline and fear your body had created in the last ten minutes. Your hands trembled severely as you felt an overwhelming sense of doom fill you, you hadn't been that close to someone so dangerous since the purge and you were not reacting well to it.
 Tears began pricking your eyes as you spit on the ground, trying to rid your mouth from the gross taste.
“I cant breathe” you gritted out. “Need somewhere safe.” you gapsed, although your hyperventilating made the words sound choppy and was hard to understand.
You could hear Obi-wan's voice call out to you but you didn't understand what he was saying as your whole body began to tremble and blackspots dab the edge of your vision.
The last thing you remember was the feeling of your body falling forward.
🖾
When your eyes opened again, you felt like a speeder had run you over, your body stiff as you adjusted to the light. You recognized home quickly at the  feeling mattress under you, the smell of home and the desert calming your nerves. Using your arms you slowly dragged your body up into a sitting position and began to move your legs to stand up.
“You leave that bed and I will not hesitate to restrain you.” Obi-wan's voice said from behind you, turning around and you saw him hold a wet rag in his hands, coming to sit with you on your guys bed and wiped the cold rag across your head and you sighed at the slight shock against your hot skin, the surprise on your senses proving a nice distraction for a moment.
“You haven't had an attack like that in years.” Obi-wan murmed. “I never get used to them.”
“I'm sorry,” you cringed at the sound of your rough and raspy voice. “I'm so sorry”
You were embarrassed at the way you reacted to everything, you always kept a front and tried to have those moments of sheer fear of your safety in private. Even after all these years there were times like today you felt like you were back in that temple.
“I thought Luke was going to  get hurt, and then I assumed Owen would rat us out and I just…”  you groaned in frustration. “I can usually keep them at bay until I'm alone. I don't know what happened.” Obi-wan put down the rag and pushed your hair away.
“They still happen?” he asked, a slight tone of disappointment jumped out at you.
You nodded.
“Not Often, like before.” you scratched the back of your neck. “ Now it's just once every few months at most.”
“Why didn't you tell me?” he said and you looked up at him.
“Because sometimes talking about it hurts more.” you admitted. “You of all people should know that.” you took a sip of water from your canteen, pleasantly surprised to see there was no taste of bile.
Did he brush your teeth while you were passed out?
“You're right,” Obi-wan said. “I do know, it's not fair of me to expect you to tell me when I hold myself back as well, I suppose.”
“Yeah well,” you shrugged. “Good thing I like you enough to excuse it.” you said, a small smirk twitching at your lips as Obi-wan rolled his eyes.
Obi-wan pulled you in and kissed you softly, chapped lips slotting perfectly against yours. Shuddering under his touch you wrapped arms around his neck dragging him closer. You went to grab the bottom of his shirt when you heard a loud beeping. You pulled away from him and looked around, searching for the source of the sound.
“What is that?” you asked, looking over at Obi-wan, concern growing when you saw his pale face. He quickly stood up and walked over to the table and pulled a small box from it. You watched in confusion as he clicked open the box and dug around, but soon quickly also paled at the sight of his jedi robes.
Which he kept in the same box he also kept the emergency holoprojector Bail Organa gave you both when he took Leia to Alderan.
You scrambled out of bed and joined him at the table as he grabbed the holoprojector and answered.
“Senator Organa?” Obi-wan asked.
You saw Bail and Breha standing together, Bail's arm wrapped around his wife's shoulder as she cried.
“Obi-wan? Y/n?” he called out, “It's Leia…something has happened.”
You and Obi-wan looked at eachother, your hand grabbing his bicep to ground yourself.
“What happened?” you asked, your anxiety from earlier quickly bubbling up.
“She's gone, we don't know who it was. There was no ransom, no leads but whoever they were, they knew where she would be. They…” Bail cleared his throat.. “They were waiting.”
“She needs you, both of you.” Breha begged. “We can't trust anyone else.”
You were about to respond, kriff you were about to pack a bag and hop on the nearest transport ship and head straight to Alderan but Obi-wan cut you off.
“What about the Senate?” he asked.
You turned and looked at him in disbelief.
“We cannot let this become public, it would draw too much attention.” Bail argued,
“Well what about a guard, or-or a bounty hunter?”
“Obi-wan!” you gasped at your husband, how is he not freaking out about this and being so dismissive.
“Only you two know how important she really is, if she is discovered…” the senator trailed off.
“We cannot leave here, Bail.” Obi-wan said. “Our duty is to the boy.”
“What about your duty to his sister?” Bail spat, but Obi-wan shook his head.
“It's been ten years, I'm not who I used to be.” he explained, and you watched the couple's faces fall. “Find someone else.”
You snatched the projector off the table and held it tight in your hands, Obi-wan looked over at you in surprise. You stepped away when Obi-wan took a step toward you and you backed away faster.
“Stay here!” you snapped. “I can't even-” you didn't bother to finish your sentence as you quickly left the cave, walking far enough so Obi-wan couldnt hear you.
“Bail, get any information about what happened and get on the soonest ship to Tatooine, I can try my best to convince him but the man is so stubborn I'm sure I'll need you too.” you demanded. “Even then if he doesn't agree to go then I'll go by myself.”
Bail nodded in response.
“Don't worry you two. if it's the last thing I do, I'll bring Leia home.” you comforted, tone softer. “I'll see you soon Bail.” and with that you hung up the call.
You sighed and rubbed your face, not excited for the argument that was about to start as soon as you stepped back into the cave.
You put the holoprojector in your pocket and made your way back.
When you stepped into the cave you saw Obi-wan still standing at the table, his arms crossed and looking ahead, angry and worried at the same
“You are being too reckless you know we ca-”
“What was that?” you interrupted, not caring for what he had to say. “The senate? A Bounty hunter!? That little girl is practically our niece and you want some random person to go save her?”
“We cannot leave the boy here alone.”
You glared. “He's not alone and you know that but Leia? She is, and whoever has her could kill her! I know we both think Luke could be force sensitive but what if Leia is too? She's just as important!”
“Do you think I don't know that?” Obi-wan snapped.
“From how you're acting? No I don't!” you exclaimed. “If you're worried about the inquisitors being here then i'll gladly turn myself in to get them to leave this planet if that will give you the incentive to go get her.” you mouth tumbling out the harsh words faster than you can think.
Although you quickly regretted the words when you saw the look of hurt on the man's face, you still continued on.
“What did we agree on when we decided to come here in the first place?” you asked. “For them, not just Luke and not just Leia. protect both of them.”
Obi-wan stayed silent and avoided your gaze.
You grabbed your shawl from the hook on the wall and slid it on.
“Just…sleep on it.” you suggested. “I'm going to go on a walk.” you both needed space from one other.
“I love you.” you called out softly as you left.
~~~~
Neither of you said a word to each other, you watched him leave for work silently. Sitting on the bed, your head rested against your raised knees as you thought about Leia. She had looked so much like her mother when she was first born you wondered if she continued to look like her or even act like her.
You didn't move much that day, your body almost stuck in the position well into the evening, until one of two suns began to descend into the sky and the security system went off. You sat up straight as you saw a shadow grow closer and reached under your pillow grabbing your Vibroblade. A hooded man walked in, and you stood up. Your garud high as you stepped forward.
“Bail?” you called out, the man turned to you and pulled down his hood. You smiled at the sight. Greyer hair and more weight on his form but still Bail Organa.
“Master Y/n.” he said, you raised a brow at the old title.
“Please,” you chuckled lightly, walking up to him. “That is a meaningless name now, y/n is fine.”
Bail shook your hand, his grip tense and clammy. You frowned at the anxious show of the usually level-head man.
“Have you spoken to him?” he asked.
“Yes, last night's discussion was very…unproductive I must say.” you looked at the watch on your wrist. “But Obi-wan should be home soon, I'm hoping you'll have a better chance with him. You're much more coherent with your words than I am.”
“I'm sure you did fine, you were always too hard on yourself dear friend.”
You laughed.
“Yeah well, thankfully I was better with A lightsaber than with politics.”
“You should have not come.” Obi-wan's voice announced.
You and Bail turned around, to see Obi-wan walking in. He gave a stare that screamed ‘Really?’
“She's heading to Daiyu,” Bail started. “They hid their signature behind a freight transport, the ship is on its way there now.”
“I can't.” Obi-wan sighed.
“She's my daughter Obi-wan”Bail begged
“I'm not the man you remember.”
“Well you're going to have to be!” Bail shouted.
“I can't leave the boy Bail!” Obi-wan argued, his gloves hand clenched at his side.
“This isn't about the boy and you know it!” Bail rubbed his forehead, soothing a worry line. “You've made mistakes, we all did. It's in the past…move on and be done with it.” he looked at Obi-wan.“You couldn't save Anakin, but you could save her.”
You watched the conversation anxiously, is that why he was scared? Did he think he'd fail?
You hoped not, or else that argument the night before was going to make you look like a jerk.
“And what if I can't?” Obi-wan asked desperately, pain and insecurity woven into the features of his face.
“There is no one I trust more with my child than you two. So please old friend, one more fight for her.”
Obi-wan stayed silent for a long time, you and Bial stood there patiently waiting for his answer.
“Okay… I'll do it.” he finally relented.
You smiled in relief at that, happy you didn't have to sneak off from him in the middle of the night. You glanced over at Bail and put a hand on his shoulder, trying to give him comfort.
“Go home, go to work like normal and tell no one our names or anything like that . The more kept under wraps the easier on everyone.”
“Whatever you say,” Bail agreed. “Just bring home my daughter.”
You gave him a determined nod watching Obi-wan shake his hand before he pulled back up his hood and leave.
You and Obi-wan both turned to each other, you looked down and cleared your throat thinking about what to say.
“I'm sorry- the two of you spoke at the same time, you chuckled when Obi-wan gestured for you to do first.
“I'm scared too.” you confessed. “No, actually I'm terrified of failing someone who needs my protection like I did back at the temple.” you laughed bitterly as you placed a hand on your chest. “But I can't live with another child's death on my hands, not when I could do something about it” you said, voice wobbling with emotion, Obi-wan frowned and grabbed your hand. “And I know you don't feel like you could be that person to help her after what has happened, but I know you can.”  you wiped your eyes with your free hand. “We couldn't save Anakin or Padme, but we can help her and I think we owe that to them.”
 “I'm sorry,” Obi-wan pulled you in. “You're right.”
You shoved your face into his chest.
“I'm sorry too.”
🖾
Your boots pounded into the packed sand of the town as you made your way to the transportation station, your hands constantly fidgeting your side to make sure the long v shaped bodice over your shirt crossed over your chest, long fabric draping over your hips and covered your recently retrieved lightsaber strapped to a harness on your thigh.
You felt like yourself again like this, the lightsaber at your disposal and with the former general at your side to the point You almost began to expect people to call you commander again.
You had been a commander with Ahsoka Tano during the war, often working with Obi-wan and his battalion on his flagship when you weren't on Coruscant.
You missed lwhen your biggest issue was hunting down General Grievous and protecting high profile senators.
You were too far in your own thoughts. You didn't notice Obi-wan stop in front of check in, your body slamming into his back and forehead hitting the hard muscle.
“Dank Farrik.” you said, as you stepped over and looked up at the taller man who started down at the ticket in his hand. Hesitance  was radiating  off of him and your hand laced with his and you gave an encouraging squeeze.
“Well?” the worker impatiently asked. “Are you coming or not?”
He looked down at you and you nodded.
“We can do this,'' you soothed, walking up to the worker and handing her your ticket while Obi-wan followed behind you with your hand intertwined with his, only letting go when you were on the other side waiting for the worker to hand him back his ticket.
The warm metal on your finger gives a stark reminder of how your present self was going right back into the life of someone you haven't been for long you thought that part of you left in the grains of sand ten years ago.
Or maybe, you thought for a moment.
That person never left.

You can't breathe, the air growing thick and catching in your lungs as you watch the complete massacre surround you. Padawans, younglings, masters and knights dead on the ground of the temple as clones, people you considered friends and family kill off any jedi in sight.
How did this happen? Things were okay, you were close to ending the war and moving on from the nightmare that has been the last three years.
So close to rest, only for it to slip away from your fear stricken hands as you fought off clones.
 The few padawans you had saved were hidden away in a supply closet far away from the main grounds as you did a final sweep for survivors. The image of you, the only standing Jedi in a room with your brethren  dead at your feet, had made you numb. The smell of seared flesh and balster residue made you nauseous as you covered your nose and mouth with your cloak.
You were supposed to be with Obi-wan Kenobi, a close companion on Utapau to help him fight General Grievous but was asked to stay back and look after the younglings as the rest of the council was busy dealing with chancellor Palpatine.
You weren't sure if the clone attack was planet wide, you hoped not for Obi-wan's sake, you knew Anakin was somewhere here, sensing his force signare only hours ago.
Your heart grieved for Obi-wan and Anakin, the two being the closest thing you had to family during the Clone wars. You had known Anakin since Obi-wan brought him to the temple after Qui-Gon Jinn died, leaving Obi-wan, a padawan at the time to train Anakin. The boy rumored to be the chosen one  and to bring balance to the force. But you had known Obi-wan for longer than that, both of you becoming padawans at the same time as each other and growing close as the year went on and becoming a confidant for him as you adjusted to the new pressures and grief in his life.
But you couldn't think about them right now, you had to protect yourself as you gripped the hilt of your lightsaber. The indigo hue humming in your hand as you deflect blaster shots coming at you, the bright light going back to the clone and going through his head. You sprinted away from the mass crowd of clones making their way to you,  avoiding corpses of people you once knew as you made your way back to the supply closest.
The adrenaline poured from every crevice of your body as you used the force to remove the statue blocking the door as you entered. The younglings looked at you in horror before they realized who you were, their small faces covered in scratches and bruises as you covered the door again. You slid down against the way and covered your mouth, holding back the stress and fear crashing over you as you held the small children.
“Rest small ones, I promise all will be over soon.” you whispered.
At least you hoped it would be.
It must've been hours before you felt safe enough to have your force signature out as you sensed the area around you. The force rippled around you and the safety you once felt within it was strained as if the loss from today managed to break its once strong walls of security. It was quiet now, the sounds of blasters and screams gone as you stood up, the younglings woke up as you looked around the area, clearing the area before you rushed the children out of the small room.You knew you had to get the younglings safe and out of here before you went off to look more into what happend. You guided the children around the temple until you ran into Cere Junda and her padawan Trilla.
You sighed in relief at the familiar friend, grasping her hand tightly when you grew closer.
“I'm so glad to see you safe Cere,” you said, your voice raw with emotion. “You as well Trilla,” you said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Glad to see you survive this nightmare as well.” Cere said.
You looked at her with desperation, your hands reaching behind you and guiding the three younglings in front of you.
“I need you to watch over these three, I need to go back to the main corridor and find more survivors and look at the security holocron footage.” you begged,  almost collapsing  in relief when Cere nodded.
“Of course, have you heard from General Kenobi?” she asked, her voice soft. The teasing she would make you endure about your relationship with him seemed like a distant memory now. You shook your head, your eyes prickling with emotion.
“No, not as of yet.” you said, ignoring the growing pit of pure fear at the thought of him being dead. You sighed and cleared your throat as you kneeled down in front of the younglings, their scared faces would haunt you for years.
“Listen,” you said sternly, “You listen to Master Cere okay?”
The small nods of obedience relaxed you a bit.
“Remember, when all seems to be lost trust only in the force.” you said, with that you stood up and began to walk away from the small group.
As you made your way back to the main hall, the number of bodys crowded at your feet made you shudder.  You almost expected them to be gone for some reason, but seeing them right where they were before, unloved and pale as you avoided the haunted look at blank open eyes.
Hypervigilance pricked at your bones, you kept your body stiff as you listened for any sound or movement around you and although threat seemed to be gone, you would've done anything to have your armor you wore during battle in the war  zone on you instead of the cloak and tunic you currently supported. The walk of avoiding bodys and making sure no one would come at you had made you slowly make your way into the main hall.
You could feel two life forces through the force,  holding your breath as you crept forward, hand gripping your lightsaber tightly as you ducked behind a pillar. You paused for a moment and took a deep breath before you looked from your cover.
You went numb as you saw Obi-wan and Yoda a few feet away from you, this time you didn't hold back a shuddering breath as you clipped your saber onto your belt and stepped out, you walked as fast as you could.
“Obi-wan!” you shouted, the man's head snapped at his name and once he saw it was you, you could see relief overcome him.
“Y/n?”
You jogged as fast as you could while being respectful to the dead around you, Obi-wan met you halfway, the weight of his body collided with yours as you both clenched to each other, hands gripping to whatever they could grab. You never, ever would've done this in a place so open like the temple. Hugs like this were reserved for late night room visits in private, away from judging eyes.
One out of your two men were safe and alive, and that thought alone gave you hope that Anakin was okay.
“Thank the gods you're okay,” you cried, no longer caring about the code anymore. You didn't care about Master Yoda seeing the blatant show of compassion, of attachment and for once it seemed Obi-wan didn't care either.
You had a feeling, the council wasn't here to judge you anymore anyways.
“Are you okay?” he asked, you nodded into his shoulder and pulled away from him. His hand, calloused and rough rested on your face, making you look at him.
“I'm okay.” you whispered.
You held his gaze for a moment before you remembered Master Yoda, you pulled away from the grip Obi-wan held on you and kneeled
“Master Yoda, I'm so glad you made it out safely as well.” you said sincerely, putting a hand on top of his head.
“Glad to see you safe Master y/n, I am.”
You stood back up and looked at Obi-wan.
“There's a signal telling Jedi to come to the temple, we're going to the security station to ward off anyone else from showing up.” Obi-wan said.
You nodded and followed Yoda to the security room, you took the time to press your force signature into Obi-wan's, the familiar presence overcame you. The feeling of warmth and tenderness along with swirls of worry and pain grounded the fact that he was here and alive next to you.
You reached your hand out  and grazed his, the small movement making him grasp yours.
“Anakin,” you said hesitantly. “Have you heard from him?” you whispered, Obi-wan shook his head and you felt a wave of fear roll over your from Obi-wan.
“He'll be okay, he's a strong kid.” you said softly. Obi-wan only nodded in response and stayed silent until you reached the security room.
It was odd seeing the room that usually had guards around be empty, and you hated the way you walked in with such ease as Obi-wan headed straight to the code receiver.
You watched as Obi-wan changed the code alerting all survivors to stay away, the blue light eliminating his face as he closed the signal box. A simple action that took a minute at most saving hundreds of lives.
“It will take a long time for the clones to notice the signal change.” you said quietly. Yoda nodded in agreement as Obi-wan emerged from the small doorway. Yoda began to leave the room, but you and Obi-wan stayed still eyeing the security device. After a moment you walked over to the security recording device, and turned it on, you felt Obi-wan come up behind you. His hand grasping your shoulder tightly.
“If you go into the security recordings you go, only pain will you find.” Yoda warned.
“I must know the truth master,” Obi-wan said as you reached forward and began to rewind the recording.
You stopped at the sight of Anakin, his saber drawn as he killed younglings in cold blood, you covered your mouth in horror at the sight.
“No.” you whispered in disbelief. “No it can't be true.” you said, your voice muffled from your hand. Your body unconsciously stepped back from the image as if it had burned you.
“It can't be, It can't be.” Obi-wan said in disbelief as the recording switched to Anakin kneeling in front of chancellor Palpatine, but from the sight he was in you realized quickly this was the sith lord Obi-wan had feared.
You watched as Anakin accepted his new title as Lord Vader before Obi-wan stopped the recording. You shook your head in disbelief, how did this happen?
“I can't watch anymore.” Obi-wan said, his voice shook slightly.
“Destroy the sith we must.” Yoda said gravely. Obi-wan released his grip on your shoulder as he stepped in front of you to talk to Yoda. you looked over in shock at Yoda's words, no shock or hesitation in voice.
“Send me to kill the emperor, I will not kill Anakin.” Obi-wan said sternly.
“To fight this lord Sidious strong enough you are not.”
“He is like my brother. I cannot do it.” Obi-wan pleaded, you watched silently, unsure on what to do.
“Twisted by the dark side young Skywalker has become.” Yoda sighed.” The boy you trained, gone he is.”
“I don't know why the emperor has sent him. I don't know where to look.” Obi-wan exclaimed.
Yoda walked away before he turned to look at him.
“Use your feelings Obi-wan and find him you will.” Yoda simply said before he left the room.
You looked over at Obi-wan, his face showed nothing but confusion and pain. You were sure your face showed the same feelings as you ignored the sick feeling in your gut as you came to a harsh realization.
“I was there,” you breathed out disgust with yourself, Obi-wan turned to you. “I was with the younglings when it all went down and I felt his presence in the temple hours before.” you looked at Obi-wan in distress grasping the tunic that laid across your chest, your voice breaking at the thought. “That means he was right next to me when he killed those..” you couldn't even finish the sentence. How did you not feel him so near?
 “I could've done something, I could have stopped him from killing those childe-” you hitch a breath. “I should've read more into the force, not shut it away.” you scolded yourself, your hands finding your hair as you gripped the roots.
“Y/n,” Obi-wan said sadly, stepping forward and pulling your hands away from the death grip on the strands of hair. You looked up at Obi-wan as you as your face crumpled from grief. Grief from losing friends, fellow jedi, losing the younglings, and losing Anakin.
From failing from your duty.
“I failed them.” you gasped out as you were pulled into Obi-wan's embrace. You were being selfish and you knew it, but you needed one moment. Just one of pure sorrow and hopelessness, you couldn't hold onto these feelings or else you'd drown in them.
“You protected yourself, and I know you saved as many people as you could. You were outmatched, we all were.” Obi-wan comforted. “You did your best and that's all that you can do.”
Your arms were under his, your hand curling and gripping Obi-wan's back and taking a deep breath. Your thoughts slowed to a more productive mindset as you nodded against him, you pulled away, wiping away your tears.
“We need to go see Padme,” you said, in determination.
Obi-wan Nodded.
“I agree.”
~~~~~~~
Anakin never said anything explicit about his and Padme's relationship,  but you as well as Obi-wan had your suspicions about the two over the last few years. The closest you could get to a confession was making fun of him seeing her and he would grow red in his face which would result in a halfhearted insult about you and Obi-wan or when you joined Padme to Senate meetings and would integrate her, watching any reaction she made.
She never let anything show, beside a light smile.
You paused your movement in the hallway leading up to Padme's corridors, a thought coming into your head as Obi-wan turned to you.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Do we tell her about what he did?” you asked, you didn't want to hurt her that was never your goal but if anyone knew where Anakin would be, it would be her.
Obi-wan stroked his beard before he nodded.
“If the need shows, but I suspect she will find out either way.” he said in thought.
You nodded in agreement before you continued on walking.
Padme's room was far more beautiful than your tiny room in the temple. Compliments of tan, white, red, and gold decorated the room. The large balcony allowed a soft breeze in, the weather was far too beautiful for this situation.
“When was the last time you saw him?” you asked, walking aside Padme. Her face was scrunched in worry but her eyes fluttered around nervously. She knew where he was, you just know it.
“Yesterday.” she said.
“And do you know where he is now?” Obi-wan pressed.
She paused for a moment, the walking stopping in the small circle in the center of her couches.
“No,”  she sighed.
“We need your help.” Obi-wan confessed, his voice bordering on begging.
“Padme,” you said, touching her arm. “He is in grave danger.”
Padme spun around, her face pale.
“From the sith?!” she gasped, you and Obi-wan shook your heads.
“From himself,” you said softly, “Anakin has turned to the darkside.”
Padme scoffed in disbelief as she looked at you in shock.
“You're wrong, How could you even say that?”
You and Obi-wan looked at each other, the pain of even saying what Anakin has done hurt too much.
“We have seen a-a security hologram…” Obi-wan started. “Of him killing younglings.” he finished, his face taut with an emotion You couldn't quite place.
“Not Anakin,” Padme denied. “He couldn't.”
You looked at her sadly.
“He was deceived by a lie. We all were.” you crossed your arms. “It appears that the chancellor is behind everything, including the war. Palpatine is the sith lord we've been looking for.” you explained, your heart hurt more and more as you watched Padme’s face fall.
“Anakin became his apprentice after Count Dooku died.” Obi-wan added
Padme stumbled backward until she was sitting on the couch, her face calm but also in shock as she started ahead.
“I don't believe you,” she said. “I cant.” she whispered.
You and Obi-wan moved to sit on either side of her, you gripped her hand tight as you looked at her.
“Padme, we must find him.” Obi-wan said. She looked between the both of you, her brows furrowed as she leaned back.
“You're going to kill him, aren't you?”
You looked down at your lap, ignoring her gaze.
“He's become a great threat.” Obi-wan warned, you kept your eyes down.
“I cant.”
You watched her grip her stomach, swollen and large. You Had only  recently become aware of her pregnancy,  your reaction was nothing but joy when she told you but seeing her in denial and shock as she cradled her bump made something click in your mind at her reaction. You watched Obi-wan sigh and stand up, but you sat still as you stared at her. Eyes solemn but knowing as you leaned back.
“Anakin is the father, isn't he?” you asked, Padme looked at you for a moment before she looked away, you could see tears building in her eyes. You close your eyes at the confirmation, standing up and kissing her head, you're watching two people you viewed as family lives become destroyed in a matter of a few hours.
“I'm so sorry.” you whispered, voice broken as you walked away, following Obi-wan to the ship. He climbed into the passenger before he held a hand out to you, helping you into the passenger.
You watched as the top came down over your head as Obi-wan flew away, you stared at the window watching other ships and speeders fly around you.
“That poor baby,” you sighed, rubbing at your eyes for a moment. “Padme is going to go after him, you know that right?” you said looking at Obi-wan. He kept his gaze on the traffic as he took a sharp turn.
“I know, that's why we're going with her,” he said.
~~~~
When he said you would be going with her you went expecting having to crouch behind a supply crate and wait until Padme went into the ship, and the flight crew left the landing strip. You followed after Obi-wan, pulling your hood over your head as you snuck onto the ship. It was a large ship, but open enough if both the droids were not up front with Padme, they would see us and alert her of our presence.
Obi-wan opened the door to a closet and you both climbed in, the room was small but if you slid yourself between Obi-wan and leaned against his chest you guys were able to sit on the floor.
He sighed, and you knew his exhaustion came from the overwhelming emotions,  the fight he had with Grievous and the crushing fear of what he had to do next.
You grabbed his hands and wrapped him around your middle, he sighed at the comfort and rested his head against your shoulder. You gripped his hand tightly, to make sure he wouldn't disappear.
“I'm sorry,” you whispered.
“For what?” he asked, confused.
“You don't deserve this, Obi-wan,” you said. “It's not fair.”
Obi-wan stayed silent for a moment.
“I don't know if I can do this,” he admitted. “He's my brother, Y/n”
“Let me help you, us two going against Anakin would be better than just you. It's better than going in there alone.” you proposed.
“No,” he said immediately, his hand reaching up and cupping your jaw to lean back so you look him in the eyes. “I've lost enough today, I can't lose you too.” he said, you could feel his breath on your face.
“I can't lose you either.” you said, with the same amount of seriousness. “Let me help,” you begged.
“I have to do this on my own,” Obi-wan said. You went to argue but he shook his head.
“Stay on the ship, stay with Padme if anything goes wrong.”
You opened your mouth to argue but a small flash of light illuminated Obi-wan's face and you could see the pure desperation on his features.
“Okay,” you gave in. “Just come home, you have to promise me to come home.” you said.
Obi-wan looked at you, his face soft as he agreed, he leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss on your lips for a few moments before pulling away.
You smiled, a bittersweet feeling swirling in you happily, after years of soft touches and hugs and knowing the feeling was there but never acting on it in fear of the council you got to kiss him, but in pain as this could very well be the first and last time you get to do it.
You and Obi-wan sat together in silence for the rest of the trip, you wanted to tell him everything you've been holding back for the last 12 years but you couldn't find the words so you relied on using the force and pushing your force signature on him. Using silent communication to express the admiration you had.
Obi-wan gripped you tightly as he embraced the feelings from you, his voice shuddering a breath deep from his chest.
“Me too love, me too.” he said quietly, as soon as the words spilled from his lips you felt the ship hit solid land. You squeezed your eyes shut as you raised Obi-wan's hand to your mouth, pressing a long kiss to it. Your fears and doubts bubbling over as you and Obi-wan crawled out of the closet, and kept close to the wall. Staying out of Padme's sight until you heard the hatch of the ship go down and saw her leave.
You and obi-wan moved closer so you can see them outside. The heat of this planet was unbearable already. The heat makes you sweat under your tunic as you watch the couple reunite.
You listened to Padme beg Anakin to leave, to go raise their child. but Anakin refused, saying his powers were the only way he could save Padme and together they could kill the chancellor and rule the galaxy together.
God, the sight made you uncomfortable as you watched Anakin Skywalker fade away in front of your eyes as he shed the skin of his former self revealing a power hungry psychopath.
You watched Padme back away in fear and you stepped forward, moving onto the ramp leading outside. You could hear Obi-wan curse before he followed you, but it didn't take long for Anakin to spot the two of you.
“I love you!” Padme begged, but Anakin's face contorted with rage.
“Liar!” he screamed, Padme gasped and looked behind her to see the two of you.
“No!” Padme shouted.
You and Obi-wan began to walk down the ramp, going slowly to try not to provoke Anakin anymore.
“You're with them!” Anakin shouted. “You brought them here to kill me.” he accused, raising his hand in front of him. You watched with shock as he began to force choke her, her feet lifting off the ground.
“Let her go, Anakin.” Obi-wan demanded, quickly descending down the stairs. You followed quickly behind him.
“Let her go!” you shouted. Anakin looked at you for a moment before releasing his grip on her, you shot forward and used the force to lay her on the ground so the baby wouldn't get harmed from the fall. You dropped to your knees and dragged her head into your lap, your hands fumbling for a pulse.
You sighed in relaise under the fluttering pulse under your fingertips.
“You turned her against me!” Anakin blamed, but obi-wan stood still and was calm. His anger wasn't like Anakins, his was a controlled storm, while the man across from him swirled like it destroyed everything in his path.
“You have done that yourself.” Obi-wan said, watching as Anakin shed away his cloak as he paced around. The only way you can describe Anakin's body language was feral and dangerous.
“You will not take her from me!”
“Your anger and lust for power have already done that.” Obi-wan shrugged off his cloak and began to walk around Anakin. You slowly reached for the lightsaber in your hand and unclipped it from your belt in case Anakin or Obi-wan got to close with their quickly approaching battle.
“You have allowed this dark lord to twist your mind, until now you have become the very thing you swore to destroy.
“Don't lecture me Obi-wan.” Anakin warned. “I see through the lies of the Jedi, I do not fear the darkside as you do.” Anakin turned as he spoke and Obi-wan kneeled down and touched Padme's face. He looked at you, and you nodded back a silent gesture of saying the two of you were okay.
“I have brought peace, freedom, justice and security to my new empire!” Anakin announced as Obi-wan stood up. The two of you looked at him in shock at his words.
“You're a new empire?” Obi-wan asked in disbelief.
“Don't make me kill you.” Anakin warned.
“Anakin, our allegiance is to the republic, to democracy!” Obi-wan shouted.
“Anakin, we're not trying to be against you! But you're being irrational right now! We just want you safe! Padme wants you safe!” you explained. “Going down this path will do more harm than good, I know deep down you see that!” you begged, watching Anakin turn back to the two of you. “Look at what you're doing! Look at what you're doing to your wife and child, what you're doing to Obi-wan, to me. If We will not stand by your side and watch you destroy everything you cared about!” you spat, anger heavy on your tongue,
“If you're not with me, then you're my enemy.” he said, raising his hand again. You felt a tight pressure around your neck as you gasped, you glared at him as you quickly put up the mental barrier from Anakin. He dropped you after a moment, your hand coming up to your neck as you felt the blood rush under and feeling a bruise begin to form.
“Only a Sith deals in absolutes.” Obi-wan said, dread and anger lacing in his voice. “I will do as I must.”
The sound of lightsabers activating made you scoot yourself and Padme to a safer distance. Obi-wan stood tall with his saber at his side. The blue hue makes a stark contrast compared to the red and orange surroundings.
“You will try.” Anakin said, turning on his lightsaber.
The fight started before you could even blink, the two blue sabers clash against each other as they slowly backed away from you, moving into the building.
You took the chance to quickly pick up Padme and run her back into the ship, you quickly place Padme in the medbay before you run out to the head of the ship.
“C-3PO, please go watch over Padme.” you asked, as you quickly grabbed the coms and input the code to a former senator you once guarded and a friend of Padme and the Jedi as a whole.
“Senator Organa?” you called out, as you searched for a pair of Macrobinalurs. “Bail? This is Master y/n please make contact.” you said, as you pulled open a hatch and found a pair of macrobinoculars. You hovered it over your eyes and you could see a huge explosion of lava and part of the metal rig melt off into the river of lava you zoomed in closer as you saw flicks of blue. You swallowed back bile at the sight of the two men in such danger.
You heard the hologram crackle before Senator Organa appeared in front of you.
“Master y/n? Are you still there?” Bail called out, you looked away from the scene playing  in front of you and looked at the hologram.
“Bail, you're the only person I can trust right now, and I know you're friends with Padme. Anakin Skywalker has turned to the darkside and choked her, she's still alive but…” you paused for a moment. “Something is off and I need to get her medical attention.”
“I'm in the outer rim, on a planet called Polis Massa. We have Master Yoda here as well and will be safe for you to come too, I'll send you the coordinates.” he said,
“Thank you, I'm waiting for Master Kenobi to finish his confrontation with Skywalker but we will be there as soon as we can.” You said, you turned off the comm before he could reply as you lifted the binoculars to your eyes again, but quickly cursed once you saw that both of the men were too far away from your sight.
You brought your knees to your chest on the pilot chair as you stared out the window, you wished you pushed harder to go fight Anakin with him, providing back up so Anakin didn't shove him in lava or stab him in the chest.
Anger was the emotion you were expecting the least as you waited for Obi-wan, you were angry over someone trying to kill you, losing fellow jedi, losing Anakin, and possibly Obi-wan now. You tried to meditate to relieve yourself from the simmering anger, you were scared now if you were being honest, Anakin fell so quickly to the dark side. You were afraid if you even acknowledged the emotions you felt now you would suddenly become a sith.
“Trust in the force.” you murmed to yourself, then embraced the feeling. You knew the force wouldn't hurt you, being intune with it since you were a child it felt like home after a long mission, it felt safe.
And that was all you can ask for at this time.
An hour had passed since then, if Obi-wan had died you aren't sure how long you would wait before you left, the thought alone had made you stand up and walk down the ramp. You knew Obi-wan's cloak was still on the ground and all you wanted was to hold something of him. Your own cloak was off including your tunic, the heat was insufferable but when you see the brown fabric rumpled on the ramp you slid it on without a second thought.
You crossed your arms over each other as you watched the lava down below, the hissing of magma was the sound you heard for a long time.
Until, you his R2-D2 beep excitedly, you turned around quickly and froze.
Obi-wan appeared from the hall, covered soot and clothes filled with burn holes, but he seemed rather unharmed. He froze when he saw you standing there, his eyes tired and bloodshot.
“Anakin..is he..?” you asked quietly, Obi-wan looked down and you saw his body began to shake. You ran forward and slammed your bodys together, both of you gripping each other like a lifeline. You could feel tears drip down your neck from where Obi-wan had burrowed his face. Your face tucked into the crook of his neck, positive your tears were dripping onto him. Your hand sprawled over the expanse of his back while his hand was embedded in your hair. You would do anything to forget how hard his hands trembled that moment.
Your heart ached for Anakin, for the boy you saw as a brother or even a son but your heart also ached for Padme and Obi-wan.
“Are you injured?” you asked, your voice cracking as you placed a gentle hand on his face. The hair of his beard tickles the skin of your fingers as you turn his face at different angles searching for damage.
“No, I'm okay.” he murmured, his blue orbs scanning over you as well. You pushed the sweat slicked hair away from his eyes so he can see better. His eyes landed on the dark bruise on your neck, his hand came to graze over the abused skin.
“Master y/n, Master Kenobi.” C-3PO called out from the ramp, you turned around as looked at the droid. “Let's hurry and leave this dreadful place.”
You and Obi-wan walked onboard the ship, R2D2 following closely behind as the ramp closed behind you. You walked Obi-wan to where Padme was, leaning on the door frame as you watched him put a gentle hand on her shoulder. Her eyes fluttered open and looked up at him.
“Obi-wan? Is Anakin alright?”
He placed his hand on her cheek as her eyes closed again, he looked over at you in worry.
“I contacted Senator Organa while you were gone, he's on Polis Massa with Yoda. we're going to take her there for a check up and to figure out what we're doing next.” you explained, holding out your hand. He sighed as he grabbed your hand, allowing you to guide him to the passenger seat as you planted yourself into the pilot seat, flicking on controls and imputing the coordinates you were sent, eager to leave this planet as fast as you can.
As you flew the ship out of the atmosphere you could see Obi-wan cover his face, you frowned before you went into hyperdrive, allowing the plane to do the work for a moment. You turned the chair you were in until it looked at the tired man head on.
“What happened out there?” you asked, although you didn't want to know. But knowing Obi-wan, he would let this sit for years and you couldn't let that happen.
“I-” he began before he sighed, looking over to you.
You were confused on why he went silent before you flinched back in your seat, visions of fire and lava flashing in your eyes, you saw Anakin and Obi-wan fighting on the river as clashes of lightsabers echoed in your ears. the vision shifted to seeing Anakin's legs getting cut off and his screams of pain rattled in your brain.
“I Hate you!” Anakin bellowed, Obi-wan's face was twisted in anguish.
“You were my brother Anakin, I loved you!”
The last thing you saw before Obi-wan cut off the connection was Anakin's body burning alive as he kneeled down and grabbed his little brother's lightsaber.
Once the vision was gone you let out the breath you were holding as you looked back at obi-wan, you hand shot forward and gripped his tight to ground yourself to the present.
“I'm sorry,” he apologized. “I just couldn't say the words.”
“No” you said after a minute of calming down. “Don't apologize, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just startling to see.” you swallowed before you spoke again. “You kept his lightsaber?”
Obi-wan nodded before pulling out the weapon and carefully handing it to you, your fingers grazed the handle and just held it for a moment before giving it back to Obi-wan.
A beeping made you jump, realizing you made it to your destination, you looked over at C3-PO and asked him to land the ship.
You stood up and walked to the small area you had taken off your tunic earlier, you grabbed the dark brown tunic and slid it on. Your hand wrapping and tying the material quickly after years of practice before you went back to meet up with Obi-wan.
You let Obi-wan grab Padme as you walk down the ramp greeting Bail, obi-wan close behind you as the senator leads you to the medical center.
 ~~~~~
You, Obi-wan, Yoda, bail, C3-PO,  and R2D2, watched Padme's unconscious form as the medical droid scanned her. Your hand gripping Obi-wan's hand as you watched in silence. It only took the droids  a few minutes before one appeared from the door.
“Medically, she's completely healthy.” the droid said, you sighed in relief. “But for reasons we can't explain, we are losing her.” He finished, you looked at him in shock.
“She's dying?” Obi-wan said in shock.
“We don't know why, she has lost the will to live and we need to operate quickly if we are to save the babies.”
You and obi-wan halted at that, your grip in his hand going loose as you looked at the droid in surprise.
“Babies?” you said.
“She's carrying twins.” the droid confirmed.
Obi-wan moved away from your touch as he moved closer to the glass pane, watching padme closely as he stroked his beard. A habit youve seen from him many times in the last few years.
So you waited until she woke up, you and Obi-wan rushing into the room and joining her on each side of Padme's head. Her sobbing and whimpering echoed around the room, the sound making you wince as the first baby was delivered. The sound of a baby crying quickly filled the air as the baby was handed off to Obi-wan, who held the baby with such care as he leaned down and showed his face to his mother.
“Luke.” she said softly, her voice weak and quiet for a few moments before she grunted, her voice horse from screams. You watched as tears pooled in the corner of her eyes. Reaching forward you dabbed away the tears.
“You got this Padme, just keep breathing.” you murmured, your voice soft as she gripped your hand. The sound of the second baby's cries appeared once more as the robot said something you didn't understand.
“It's a girl.” Obi-wan announced as the droid handed you the little girl, you kneeled down and showed her face to the woman.
“Leia” Padme sighed.
You smiled at the name.
“It's beautiful, both of them are.” you said.
Padme began to breathe heavily, as if she was struggling to get air into her lungs. You and obi-wan shared a concerned glance.
“Obi-wan, y/n?” Padme gasped and you nodded, shifting Leia into one arm as you grabbed her hand again.
“There's good in him…I know-I know there's still-” Padme started out before she stopped talking and the hand in your hand went limp. Your teeth clamped down on your lip as tears welled in your eyes once again and as if the two small babies in you and obi-wans arms knew, they both began to cry.
~~~~~~
Inside one of the meeting rooms of Building in Naboo. You, Obi-wan, Bail, and Yoda sat at a large table. You had your arms crossed tightly around your body as you sat next to Obi-wan, his hand rested on his chin as he stared blankly at the table in front of him.
“Hidden, safe the children must be kept.” Yoda said solemnly.
“We must take them somewhere where the sith won't sense their presence.” Obi-wan said.
Yoda hummed in thought.
“Split up, they should be.” Yoda decided.
You looked up, about to open your mouth to protest but it quickly died on your tongue. Keeping them together would give away more attention. and if one of them ends up to be force sensitive it would make matters worse.
“My wife and I will take the girl,” Basil said, “We've always talked about adopting a baby girl.” he said, a soft simile spreading on his face. “She will be loved with us.”
“And what of the boy?” you asked, yoda turned to you.
“To tatooine. His family send him.”  Yoda said.
Obi-wan was silent for a moment before he spoke.
“I will take the child and watch over him.”
You looked over in shock, slightly offended at him leaving you out.
“No,” you said sternly. All three men looked at you. “We,” you said with emphasis. “We will take the child and watch over him.” you said, avoiding Obi-wan's gaze.
Yoda just nodded.
“Until the time is right, disappear we will.” he said as you all stood up and bowed.
You walked out, only stopping for a moment when Yoda called to Obi-wan to hang back. Giving them their space you waited out in the hall, you kept your eyes on the floor until you saw Basil walk out, with baby Leia in his arms.
He walked up to you and gave you a kind smile.
“Can I?” you asked, pointing to the baby. Basil chuckled and placed the baby in your arms.
You stared into her eyes as she gurgled and cooed at you and you let out a wet laugh.
“It's disturbing how much you look like your mother already little one,” you said softly, your hand rubbing at the soft skin of her head. “You are going to a great family, but I need you to promise one thing.” you whispered to the baby, not noticing Obi-wan step out of the room.
“Be kind and intelligent like your mother,” you said, your voice getting choked up. “And be loyal and passionate like your father was.”
“And most importantly,” you whispered into her ear. “Never be apologetic for who you are, wear your flaws and strengths with pride.”
You didnt care what anyone told you, after everything you've been through with Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, those two little kids freshly embraced by the world will always be your niece and nephew in your heart.
You kissed Leia's head before you handed her back to Bail, wiping your tears away as you looked at the senator.
“Safe travels, senator Organa.” you said softly, holding out your hand. Bail smiled and gripped your hand tight and shook it.
“You as well, Master.” he said before he turned to Obi-wan who simply shook his hand. You leaned back against the wall as Obi-wan looked at you. You didn't lean away when he raised his hand to wipe away the wetness on your cheeks,
“Why are you coming with me? You don't deserve a life like that.” he said, concern and guilt evident in his voice
“Either way Obi-wan, I'm going to be hunted,” you said bluntly. “I'm doing it for those two babies so they are safe from the empire, but i'm doing it for us too so we can be together because we deserve each other.”  you whispered hoarsely, your brows furrowed as you placed a hand on his chest. “I don't care where it takes me, I'll be okay as long as we do it together.”
Obi-wan watched you with soft eyes before he nodded.
“For them.” Obi-wan said, placing a hand over the one you rested on his chest.
You squeezed his hand tightly.
“For us.” you smiled sadly.
~~~~~~~
The heat on Tatooine was much better compared to Mustafar but it still had you sweating under your robes as you watched the sunset in front of you. The two suns give the dry earth around you a pink hue as Obi-wan gave baby Luke to Owen and Beru Lars.
You watched the younger woman gently cradle Luke as she ran over to her husband, the two of them admiring the sunset and their new family member.
Obi-wan turned to look from where you sat on the Eopie, he looked naked with the lightsaber he used for so long  no longer strapped to his side. Your hand grazed your own side and longed for your own saber as well. You and Obi-wan decided to bury your lightsabers in the sand with Anakins, a sad symbol of the end of a life you once knew.
You knew deep down a lightsaber didn't determine if you were a Jedi or not, you knew you were and Your trust in the force and the light side would guide you along the way.
Cold metal resting on your finger reminded you of a new symbol, of something new and safe as Obi-wan grabbed your hand. You smiled at the ring on his hand pressing into your wrist as you hauled him up on the large animal.
Exile did suck but knowing you were with someone you loved made the sacrifices tolerable
Tumblr media
Day 1:
“I can't believe this is the first thing you want to do when you get home.”
“To be fair, I wasn't going to do this for awhile but that shop looked cool”
The plastic film stuck securely around the outer side of wrist, the slight itch and burn the only thing left over from the pain you felt at the tattoo shop. The small fine line style lotus symbol is now tattooed into the delicate skin. And to be honest, you were already thinking about getting the symbol tattooed on the flight home and finding an artist once you had settled down from past week but a trip to the grocery store the next morning after discovering there was no food in the fridge had made you walk past a tattoo parlor and you decided to make a impromptu stop before you went to the store.
“I never met someone who thought a place where you get paid to be stabbed a lot was cool.”
Your lips twitched up into a smile as you stepped into the elevator leading to the apartment. The flimsy light overhead flicking as you and Marc spoke casually to each other, both of you holding bags of groceries that crinkled in your grip when you moved to step of of the lift and walked to the front door, Marc clusmly pulling the key out of his pocket before pushing the door open, letting you walk in first.
“Listen I only like to be stabbed if I get a fun little drawing on me out of it, now if some person with a knife came at me for no reason I would not find that cool.” You explained as you put the bags on the counter and caught Marc's gaze. He chuckled and shook his head as he copied your actions, placing the bags he was holding next to yours.
“You still havent told me why you got it.” Marc said, his hand trailing along the small of your back before he caught your waist making you turn to look at him. You leaned against the counter, looking at the man who caged you in.
“The lotus was known as a symbol of rebirth, the renewal of life, and the promise of everlasting life.” you said, hands grabbing at his biceps. Marc had told you what happened with him and Steven in Duat, the pride you felt when he told you he left the field of reeds to go back for Steven fleeted fast and made you panic when you found out both of them were encased to sand for a moment before Osiris decided to let them come back to life. “For me, this whole experience has been a renewal for me and even though it traumatized us both just a little bit.” you dragged your hands up and down, your nails leaving light marks on his arms. Marc took a shuddering breath and you bit your cheek at the reaction. “It brought you back into my life, made me realize I'm not a terrible fighter,” Marc scoffed at that remark.  “and it gave me the strength to take what's mine.” you said, moving forward and kissing on the underside of his jaw.
“Yours?” Marc asked as you moved to kiss along his neck, you hummed in acknowledgment.
“Yup, Mine” your voice was muffled against his skin, you pulled away and smiled at him. Marc huffed a laugh and grabbed you by the back of your neck.
“Come here.” he mumbled before he pressed his mouth against yours, his lips lazily moving against yours as he pressed his body against yours. Giving into the moment before you remembered something.
“Marc, we forgot milk.” you mumbled against his lips.
 Day 10:
You almost broke a finger as you jammed the button to the elevator, impatiently waiting for the doors to close to take you to Marc/Stevens floor. You had spent the last three hours at the museum having a meeting after finding out one of the curators was a partner on one of your first exhibitions. After donating the scarab to Ammits tomb and promising to do a few guest speaker shows about the work you've done in the fields while explaining without Stevens help on your last “Exhibition” it would have failed. You managed to convince the director to give Steven a new job.
You ignored the blister from the heels you bought that morning along with a pinstripe blazer and skirt set that undoubtedly damaged your wallet but living out of a suitcase that had no business appropriate clothes meant having to drop cash on a new set. You pulled the house key out of your purse and quickly unlocked the door, busting it open.
“Marc or Steven!?” you shouted kicking off your heels.
“Uh, Marc?” he called out confused from the kitchen, you ran in beaming and out of breath.
“Give me Steven!” you demanded happily, Marc looked at you like you were crazy before Steven fronted.
“Hello, love” Steven greeted, his tone happy but had a hint of confusion in it. You had gotten to know Steven a little more on the flight home and the times you would crawl into bed and watch Steven read, asking him sleepy questions before you'd eventually drift off. He had helped you so much while you guys were together in Egypt and you wanted to do something for him in thanks. “What do you need?”
“Okay, you don't have to do it if you don't want to,” you began walking to him. “But I ran into an old friend and I ended up having a couple meetings and the director of the museum and I got to talking.” you watched Stevens' eyes widen as you continued to ramble.
“You'll be on probation for a few months after what happened a few weeks ago but Steven,” you paused for dramatic effect. “I got you a job as co-curator for the ancient Egyptian department and the job is yours if you want it.”
You watched Stevens jaw drop in shock before he started to laugh in disbelief, his eyes watering slightly.
“Really?” he asked and you nodded eagerly.
“Really!” you exclaimed.
Steven rushed forward and hugged you so tightly you got lifted off the ground, he kissed you cheek over and over as you laughed hugging him back. He leaned back and looked at you.
“But- why would you do that for me?” he asked and you looked at him like it was the cleanest thing in the world.
“Because I care about you and you deserve to be happy, Steven.” you said seriously. “Also I met Donna today and she was a total bitch if I was getting you a job it wouldn't be one where she's your boss again, that would just be cruel.”
Steven snorted as he put you down, his hands on your shoulder. He leaned down and kissed your forehead.
“Thank you, so much. You're bloody brilliant.”
Day 20
You hated the nights when you would wake up to the sounds of Marc's panicked and strangled breathing, quite begging that would fall from his lips, and the frantic tossing and turning that would josulte you enough to make you shake. You weren't sure if after all these years your brain had was always kept an eye out for when Marcs mind would take him back to that stupid room or it was just a coincidence.
Either way, you were awake and it had been years since you had to handle Marc nightmares and you were scared you were going to make this worse. Marc's breaths were getting shorter and shooter to the point he gripped his chest in his sleep. You slowly turned. making sure to not move too fast in case it would startle him, slowly making your way on your right side.
“Marc.” you called out in a low voice, your hand going to his chest and barely touching his hand that gripped the shirt he wore. You ignored the guilt in your stomach when he flinched at the touch.
“Marc,” you called out again. “It's just a dream, you're not there anymore.” you went to touch his face but right as you went to move his eyes snapped open and he gasped so hard you could hear his lungs stutter against his chest as he sat up. You had to tell yourself to not take it personal when he would rip himself out of the covers and sit on the edge of the bed so he could take off the ankle restraint. This night was worse than usual, his hands trembled so hard he couldn't even get a hold on it. You crawled out of bed and kneeled in front of him, ignoring the grains of sand digging into your knees as you took the restraint off.
Marc had his head in both of his hands so you couldn't grab his hand and hold it, so you sighed and just rested your head on his knees. Rubbing absentminded circles on his calf, he was clammy everywhere, the skin of his leg cold and sticky as you touched him. You always waited until his breathing became steady and even before you asked him any questions.
So you waited.
And waited.
Eventually, you felt his hand run though your hair and you looked up, his eyes were wild still but his breathing had calmed down.
“Hey,” You whispered, tiedly closing your eyes once his hand came to your face. The pad of his thumb swiping tenderly under the dark circles you were sure to have. You turned your head and kissed the palm of his hand, not minding the clamminess of it.
“Hey.” he whispered back, his voice gravely and dry. “Come on, get off the sand, baby.” You obliged, slowly standing up ignoring the slight numbness in your feet. You held your hand out to Marc who took it. The normal routine you two had for nights like this, when it didn't matter how early you had to be up the next day or who woke up that night. Both of you walked to the kitchen, Marc leaning on the counter as you went to grab him a glass of water. He mumbled a quiet thanks, taking it from your hands before chugging it.
“Do you want to talk about it?” you asked.
Marc shook his head.
Which is what he did almost every time, but you still asked no matter what because the sentiment was there. An unspoken “I'm here if you need me.” whispered around you two in the tiny kitchen at 3am. You leaned forward and felt the material of his t-shirt, frowning at the soaked and cold material.
“You need dry clothes, are you up for a shower?” you offered.
Marc licked his lips and his eyes shot to the small bathroom, almost guilty looking as he nodded. You chuckled as you grabbed his hand dragging him to the bathroom, turning on the shower to the almost scorching heat that the both of you liked. You stripped down, Marc following suit as you both squeezed into the small shower.
He reached for the shampoo but you were faster and grabbed it off the small ledge. You lathered the suds in your hands, watching Marc tilt his head back. The water ran down his face, arms, chest, and stomach.
Marc usually fought a little bit before letting you wash his hair but this time he was silent on the matter, pilant under your hands as you stood chest to chest. Reaching up and working a lather into his limp curls, dragging your nails across his scalp,smiling at the low sounds of content that rumbled in his chest.
You both said nothing as you rinsed his hair before adding conditioner or when you lathered up a lofa of body wash and dragged it across any piece of skin you could see not asking him to do anything besides turn around to reach the large expanse that was his back. Placing wet kisses down his spine, ignoring the slight taste of soap in your mouth as you worked the soap lower down his back.
“No comment about my ass? That's surprising.” he said, almost sounding like himself.
“Ah,” you hummed, placing your hands on his hips and turning him around. “It seemed inappropriate, just know I thought about it in my head.” you smirked, wrapping your arms around his water slik neck. Your fingers wrapping around a ringlet of curls on the base of his neck. Marc wrapped his arms around you and pulled you impossibly closer to him, resting his forehead against yours.
Thank you, for everything.” he said.
“No problem.”
Day 30:
“Why don't you just live here?” Marc said, too focus on getting dressed for bed to notice you stumble as you missed the leg hole to your sleep shorts. You cursed as you toppled to the floor, your shorts around your ankle as you laid on the floor in your underwear as you looked at him in shock. Marc held out his hand out to you, helping you off the floor. Keeping eye contact with you as he kneeled down, lifting your leg and pulling through the hole. As he stood up he pulled the fabric up as he came up to meet your face, you bit your lip trying to hold back a laugh, there was no way he was serious about this. You covered your mouth as you snickered.
“Don't get my hopes up, Spector.” you said, chuckling weakly.
Marc stared at you, his face serious and he was silent. Looking at you and expecting an answer, you felt your heart skip a beat in realization.
“Oh my god,” you said slowly. “You're serious?”
 Marc groaned before he raised his hand as if he could erase what he just said from your brain.
“You know what? Never mind.” he said, swiftly turning around.
“Wait!” you yelled, grabbing his wrist and turning him back around. He raised a brow in question, waiting for you to speak.
You didn't know what to say at first, the serious question just sprung on you like he was asking what you wanted to eat for dinner.
“What does Steven say about this?” you asked, you weren't going to do anything if both of them aren't on board with the idea.
“He's the one that gave me the idea.” Marc said, letting his hand go limp as you played with his fingers.
You sat in silence as you thought for a moment, you didn't love your place back in the U.S but you didn't hate it either. You traveled to Europe often for work and the other work you did could be done from home and It's not like you had family there anymore.
You didn't have a home there.
But here, with Marc and Steven? Inside a studio apartment far too cramped of books and clutter that stood on a busy street always loud and lively at all hours. And filled with two people who had simply lost so much time together
This could be it.
You told yourself many times as you laid in bed at night that Marc had moved on and was living a life without you in it. But here he stood, arms crossed with a very impatient look on his face as he looked at you.
You sighed and shook your head, Marc went stiff when you covered your mouth and looked at him.
"I can't believe I'm saying yes, I mean, what would God think? We're not even engaged!” you said dramatically. You laughed at Marc's worried face dropping, heaving an irritated sigh.
“That could be arranged.” Marc said, grabbing your arm. “So is that a yes?” you put your hand over his.
“Of course it is.”
The startled look on his face quickly broke out into a smile, crinkles around his eyes growing tight. Laughing in relief he lifted his hands to rub his thumbs across your cheeks.
“You're such a little shit.”  Marc said. “Maybe I should take back the offer.”
You scoffed in offensive.
“How dare you speak to me like that in my own..” you paused.
Marc's smile stalled a little bit as the word shaped in your mouth, you hadn't had a home in years. But this was your chance to have that again, to have a family again. The word ment more than this apartment or a bed you could go to sleep in at night. It meant a family, although it wasn't perfect, it was perfect for you.
“How dare you speak to me like that in my home?” you finally said, a teasing smile on your face. “My home, where i'm not alone and I can have help when i'm sick or sad-”
You didn't notice Marc pulling you in until your face was pressed against his chest and your hands crumpled the fabric to his sweater as he wrapped himself around you, his face in your hair. You pressed harder into him until the scent of his skin was all you could smell.
“Say it again?” you asked.
“You're home with me, you're not alone anymore sweetheart.” Marc reassured you. You looked up with a tearful laugh escaping before you looked down at his lips.
You leaned in and kissed him, tangling fingers in his hair. He shivered, lips parting in a silent moan. You pressed against his lips harder as he backed you against a wall, thick arms caging you in as traces of toothpaste and just the organic taste of Marc passed to you with each desperate kiss he pressed to yours. You moaned at the feeling and Marc slowed down his pace until his kisses were languid and sensual. Your mind reeling at the whole situation.
“Wait-” you said pulling away,  Marc looked at you annoyed that you pulled away from him but you watched in disbelief.
“What do you mean an engagement could be arranged?” you asked, Marc's face appearing more anxious as you looked at him in curiosity. Your heart pounded in your chest as he pulled away from you and walked over to a bookshelf, reaching up and grabbing something from the top shelf before coming back to you. flipping open a small box and turning it to you. A simple gold band with a marquise diamond in the middle with two small diamonds on each side of the larger stone bored into you. Marc just stared at you, you almost wanted to laugh at the uncermional way he wasn't on one knee, instead of opting for standing and looking at you like this was the most simple thing in the world.
“You don't have to say yes, but I  wasn't kidding when I said it could be arranged.” Marc said, looking down at you. “You're it for me, and if you're willing to be a part of my life with all my issues I would spend everyday making up the time I lost with you.” His voice was confident for the most part, a hint of fear laid under his words.
You had your arms crossed, one arm resting over the other as the palm of your hand covering your mouth. Your eyes watered up as you went from the ring to Marc's face.
“You need to ask me,” you said, your voice shaky but light as you teased him. Holding back the urge to laugh as Marc huffed a breath at your delayed answer.
“y/n l/n, will you marry me?”
You rubbed your chin and let out a hum in faux thought, Marc's finger drummed on the small box as you smiled at him.
“I'm not sure..” you tailed off in thought. Marc groaned and threw his head back in annoyance as you cackled,  hands grabbing his face to make him look at you. His face red in embarrassment and anxiety as you rubbed your thumbs under his eyes. A few stray tears fell from your own eyes as you nodded.
“Of course I want to marry you.” you said happily, Marc's face lit up at that as he chuckled.
“You're such a little shit” Marc said, a light laugh of relief and happiness bubbled from him the word from earlier being repeated again grabbing the ring from the box before he grabbed your hand, sliding the band around your finger. You admired the perfect fit as Marc stroked your cheek. You leaned up and kissed him, it made both your lips wet as your tears dropped down as Marc wrapped his arms around you. You stayed like that for a long time before he pulled away.
He pressed his forehead against your and smiled, as he looked into your eyes.
“I told you we’d be okay.” he said softly, you looked up at him and nodded.
“We're more than okay.” you said confidently, excited for the new adventure you were about to go on.
