as someone who's never experienced winter, I think icicles are poetic as fuck...how the harsh winter hardens the ever life-giving water and turns her into this angry symbolism of how unforgiving and how certain the doom of winter is. Its how even when winter freezes everything over, water still finds a way to make something grow. it's like wow, yes evergreen pines and strong wood in the summer and winter, and yet they succumb to the winter still. and from their mighty branches, even though the ground will not let the seeds break through and the rain does not kiss the grass awake, water grows in the form crystal stalactites. proving yet again, water will grow anything, something, if she wants it to.
