Something I've always thought about when watching AnoHana was how each character must've grown up with their guilt.
You could say that Yukiatsu is a complete piece of garbage.
You could say Anaru is extremely desperate to fit in.
You could say Tsuruko is cold and emotionless.
You could say Poppo is irresponsible and too lax. (Whoever, actually, says this about the man is getting a punch in the face. I know it.)
You could say Jintan is apathetic and an absolute shut-in.
But grief isn't easy to process.
Sure, there are healthier ways to cope but, remember, these characters were around 10 years old when their friend left them. These five who remained kept thinking they could have prevented Menma's death had they done something. ANYTHING.
They distanced themselves from each other because they remembered their memories together and they hurt. How could they not? Those are just memories now. Menma was just a memory now.
What I love about this series is how they let all the characters show the worst sides and best sides of themselves. None of them are perfect. But the final episode allows them to finally express themselves. Express their grief. Express their pain.
It doesn't end there.
The five come to the realization that they've been holding on and tormenting themselves. They have the chance to talk to Menma again but they all don't take it because of their guilt.
When they begin to let go of their guilt, Menma begins to fade away. Her wish wasn't the firework or to make Jintan cry.
She just wanted them to be friends again.
With their guilt gone, the five look to the future with their friend in their hearts knowing that she's been reincarnated somewhere and having the time of her life.
This anime is a classic and still deserves lots of love

What I love about Kuroko no Basket is that it covers both the value of teamwork and the importance of giving your everything for a goal.
I'll focus on the latter though.
The whole series always felt melancholic. While one team celebrates a win, the other team laments over their loss. Honestly, it's also a common thing about life.
As they say, you can't have it all. There will be moments where everything is going great for you, then they go horribly wrong. But the show also reminds viewers, through the characters, that giving up isn't an option. We have to keep going no matter how challenging the obstacles ahead are.
I'm sorry, but this series is amazing and I wanna re-watch this. Also, can we just talk about the animation? Chef's kiss!

Personal headcanon: Zhongli and Venti meet up every once in a while at the border of Mondstadt and Liyue just to talk.
About what? Well, everything that's happened to them.
It's no secret that these two are the remaining members of the original Seven Archons and I feel like that, while they clash in terms of personalities (see their voicelines about each other), they find comfort in each other because they have a good idea what the other has gone through.
Side Note: They might have tried to invite Ei to meet with them somewhere (probably the Golden Apple Archipelago) after she ended the Sakoku Decree so she also gets to talk to them about her sister and find comfort in their presence.

Hear me out.
Sorceress Thaegan's final death is extremely sad. Up until this point, her children had been orphaned twice. This time, they didn't want to be without her anymore.
That, in itself would be sad, but then consider what happened off screen.
When they heard of her death the first time, they were determined to eat up Lief, Barda, and Jasmine. After failing, they were all, probably, grieving with Icabod being the one to keep them together. By the time Thaegan comes back, they're all ready to help her because they know it would keep her with them. They fail again and are left alone.
By the final time she's defeated, her kids can't stand it anymore. They want to be with her forever. They didn't want to be without her. They loved her.
It was in this moment that Thaegan came back to her senses. She had been so obsessed with living forever and remaining beautiful with immense power that she forgot she had her children who loved her dearly.
I think that's also why her ring fades away. She's done with serving the Shadow Lord, chasing after vanity and power. She just wanted to be with her kids again.
Yes, it's not exactly the saddest anime death but I feel like it's symbolic with the theme of the episode. Family gets mentioned a few times and this moment serves as a reminder to the audience that Lief, Jasmine, and Barda were fighting a family. A family on the opposing side but a family nonetheless.

KOUSAKA HONOKA APPRECIATION POST
Honoka's story in Love Live always gets me. She begins her journey as a School Idol with her childhood friends to save her school, not considering the trials ahead of them. She just charged head-on. No apologies and no regrets.
THEN S1 E10 HAPPENS
Because of her stubbornness, she neglects Kotori who kept trying to get her opinion on whether or not she should go abroad. In the aftermath of the situation, she decides to quit seeing as their goal was reached and it was pointless to continue. This, clearly, angered Nico and Umi with the latter slapping Honoka in the face.
Eventually, all is resolved and Kotori stays with them and leads into S2. Honoka, still guilty over her little incident, tries to get her friends not to try. However, a conversation with Yukiho makes her realize that, WHOOPS, the third years are graduating and can't be school idols once they leave. Honoka regains her resolve (after a beautiful rendition of Susume —> Tomorrow's opening lines) and the girls of Muse aim for the win.
Honoka, as clumsy and stubborn as she can be, matures throughout the series and her growth as a character is influenced by the other characters around her.
I think it's amazing how she's grown and her songs are super fun to listen to.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HONOKA! FAITO DAYO~

HIRAGI TSUBASA'S CHARACTER ARC IN STARMYU IS JUST SO AMAZING.
Tumblr media
In the first few episodes, we get a sense that this dude is super strict. It's after S1 E06 where we learn about his history with Otori Itsuki.
And, yes, I was balling in S1 E09. You can't tell me that their duet wasn't heartbreaking. YOU CAN'T.
What's interesting is the things you CAN'T find in the anime. For example, in SHOWTIME 9, Hiragi has a solo song titled "uncontrol". I realized it after reading the English translation of the lyrics that the song was about his feelings throughout S1 E09. The fact Otori was about to leave him again and he couldn't do anything to stop it, let alone go after him.
In the drama CDs set between S1 E14 and S2 E01, Otori and Hiragi have a conversation about their respective graduation parties held by their students. They, eventually, get to the topic about Hoshitani Yuta and his idol. Both of them know he's been idolizing Otori who is both a bit shy to admit it and he just doesn't want to strip Hoshitani of his dream.
THESE TWO, PLEASE
Tumblr media
Hiragi gets the idea that sets the entirety of S2 into motion and, yes, I do mean that twist we get in the post credits scene of S2 E10.
This guy goes from up-tight and strict child of the school's owner to loving younger brother and senpai.
The way they portray this character arc, with or without the Drama CDs and songs, was just brilliant and I'm here for it.
