The more despair I endure in life, the more I love Frodo. I'm just. I'm so glad that Tolkien wrote him like that. He was a hero and it broke him. He was given too much to carry. The circumstances were dire, everyone was doing the best they could, and Frodo tried so hard, for such a good cause, and he...broke. And the narrative has pity for him, the characters show him kindness. Even after victory, his hurts did not heal, and it isn't considered his fault. He must go to the undying lands, to seek out peace there. In universe, he is forgiven for being human - don't be pedantic - and his great torment is recognized. He fell. He could not have done it alone. He is still a hero.
And, I think that's important.

the movie really undersells the fact that frodo spent half a year planning to make his departure from the shire as inconspicuous as possible and merry and pippin and sam saw him doing that, figured out he was leaving the shire and that it had something to do with bilbo’s ring, and then spent nearly as long preparing to go with him. icons

In Defense of Frodo Baggins
If you can’t see the beauty in the character of Frodo Baggins, get out of my face.
He was a normal, everyday man, but he was given the MOST EVIL AND DANGEROUS THING IN THE UNIVERSE TO GUARD AND CARRY.
He lost his mind carrying it for a year and suffered horrible PTSD, and I still have to listen to people moan and groan about how ‘hE dOeSn’T kIlL aNyOnE’ or that ‘HeS sUcH a CrYbAbY’
BABES HE HAS THE LITERAL WEIGHT OF THE WORLD ON HIS SHOULDERS. ALSO WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT THAT HE DOESNT M U R D E R PEOPLE.
‘sAm Is ThE rEaL hErO’ ‘sAm Is So UnDeRrAtEd’
Sam is SO appreciated, and I’m happy about that, but
a) the whole point is that the WHOLE FELLOWSHIP ARE HEROES
and b) do y’all think Sam would stand for this Frodo slander on his behalf (or in general)? NAHHHH.
Also people say that Sam could have just carried the ring. No, he couldn’t. We literally SEE in the movie when Sam is saving Frodo that Sam hesitates before giving Frodo the ring. He was tempted by it, and he hadn’t even had it for a day. Frodo had been carrying that ring for close to a YEAR, and he still had self control. That says something about Frodo’s emotional and mental strength.
Sam can’t carry the ring, but he can carry his friend.
Together they are one hero, and neither of them would have made it to Mordor without the other.
God I’m so sick of the Frodo hatred.
At this point I might as well write an essay defending him, when I have the time.

I know this isn’t my usual blog content but I just wanted some fresh opinions on something that’s been weighing on my mind.
There’s this guy in one of my classes at Uni, we’ve only spoken a few times but there’s some kind of indescribable chemistry between us and I often catch his glances. I’m definitely interested in him and I have a strong feeling he’s into me too.
But there’s a problem: there’s only 2 classes left for this subject, so if I don’t make some kind of move we’ll probably never see each other again. I can see he’s a fairly nervous guy so it’s unlikely he’ll make the first move, but I myself am also anxious which doesn’t help.
What should I do? Any tips or advice?
