POV: when you are writing dark romance and you’re afraid a certain line might be taken the wrong way and you ask your friend about it.
Me:
Tumblr media
And she goes: (translated) “I mean if I read that I’d be like ‘ok bro chill’…”
And I’m like:
Tumblr media
And she’s like: “Valid. Good reason. Keep that in.”
Sometimes, writing is fun.

AHH BESTIE THANK YOU SM 😭🤍
I was like “how many tropes can I fit into this book” and I just decided to put all of them in.
Ilysm your support means the world to me 😭🫶🏻 I can’t wait to finish it and for you to read it AHHH

The best thing about being a writer is being able to put all of your favorite tropes into one book because nothing really scratches the itch inside your brain, so you just do it yourself. Literally. (I feel like Thanos)
Anyway! I’m on my third week of writing my first dark romance novel that isn’t fanfiction, and I thought I’d share some super secret insider stuff with you.
So, here it goes…
Introducing: Checkmate
Tropes: not in order
Slow. Burn. (maybe not as slow as my brain at 6 in the morning, but relatively slow. like a candle)
Mafia but make it Irish
The female MC is an assassin
“I’m supposed to kill you but I can’t, now you’re stuck with me :)”
“Good girl.” *swoons*
Dom/sub (is that a trope?)
Enemies to lovers
There’s only one bed (at some point)
“Touch her and you’ll die.”
“Touch him and you’ll die.”
“Who did this to you?”
“Stay?” “Always.”
Or, for those who like it better when it’s visual:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lo and behold, my editing skills 🗡️
And I made the cover myself (I edited a little because the original draft looked a bit…weird)
Tumblr media
BONUS
Tumblr media
The first two paragraphs I have written for this book. I can’t guarantee it won’t change because the editing process can be a bitch.

Sometimes, I write the most unhinged shit in the middle of the night. And then, every once in a fortnight, I happen to write something readable at 3am and I make it my personality trait for the next 6+ weeks.
I wrote the following from my male main character’s POV and I’m kind of proud of myself…
“Rain carries a sad, tragic beauty that’s often paired with the wonders of a thunderstorm. When it rains outside, the damaged heart feels a little less alone. It reminds us humans that the earth is just as alive as we are, and every storm turns into a perfect interpretation of what it even means to exist. ” — M.
Kind of considering introducing my characters with the little summaries I made, but I haven’t decided yet.

📍Blog Navigation
Hi! I'm Lizzi, and I'm a not-so-professional writer. Welcome to my humble abode! Or, well, my swamp.
I grew up on Tumblr, AO3, and Wattpad, so I've written my fair share of fanfiction over the years (and I still do). But I also write stories of my own, and I am currently working on my first dark romance novel. So, I decided to make this blog (and many, many social media accounts) to kind of show my "process" and let you lovely people in on it.
This blog is dedicated to all of my original work, and if you're interested in what I have to say, feel free to stick around!
Disclaimer: all of my work is 18+ and deals with dark themes unless stated otherwise. I will be posting a lot of adult content. Therefore, this is an 18+ blog only. If you don't mind making sure that your age is in your bio, that would be highly appreciated <3
Now, without much further ado, you can find some more information under the cut!
So many self-publishing authors have told me to connect with people and share my journey so I can build an audience and find like-minded people. I guess this is what I'm doing here. Beware: I have yet to figure out how any of this works. I'm lost, like, 98% of the time.
I will be sharing snippets from my book(s) as I'm writing, the books I'm currently reading, some insight I've gained while writing, my writing process and so much more. Sometimes, there will be very annoying posts of me just complaining. I do that everywhere. It's nothing personal.
Also, I like Taylor Swift. I'm constantly in my folklore era.
You can find me on social media, you can find me here and of course, feel free to message me anywhere anytime and I'll try to answer as fast as I can. I like talking to people. Online, at least.
Where exactly can you find me, you might ask? (check out my linktree)

My current social media accounts are...
Instagram: @/lizziwrites
Twitter: @/lizziwrites
Tiktok: @/lizziwrites
Pinterest: @/lizzisofficialpinterest
Spotify: @/itsjustlizzi
(More to be added)
If you are a member of the Daredevil/Marvel community, you can find my super super secret fanfiction account here @farfromstrange. It took me a very long time to stop seeing my fanfiction persona as something I should be embarrassed about. The truth is, without it, I probably wouldn't be here right now. The girl who has written so many fanfics and formed a very tight-knit community is me, and she is writing original stories now too, so in a way I got what I always wanted. And I will always be a fangirl, so why not do both?
Pro-tip: Fuck what others think, what matters most is that if you're doing what you love, you should continue doing so. Do what makes you happy!
Thank you, and I can't wait to share this journey with you all <3
