So I found this chandelier in the alley way yesterday and it was pretty heavy so needed someplace to put it down or rather up...and so wouldn’t you know! Boom! High and behold! Introducing the Breakdance Lamp! Bboy/Bgirl Beacon! A shining symbol of the single greatest dance form of the modern age! Now I just gotta hook this up properly and let it shine..Stay tuned! Man you mental. Monumental! The monumental anti-monument! Say that ten times fast! A little history: This is my first Bronze Cast I ever did.. in my foundation years back in the day at art school.. I had a sciatica injury back then so I couldn’t dance and found it rather cathartic outlet to make this instead. But as the work progress I realized it was more than that. It was both literally and figuratively turning the art world on its head as traditionally monumental bronze work is reserved only for war hero’s and political figures not Bboys and Bgirls. So this is a tribute to all the unsung heroes of breakdance. Drum roll please....it seems to be all coming together. Just fabricated some truly unique silver spiral golden ratio shelving! Designed to fit inside the snare drum to mount all the components from the turntable to the mixer to the amp and speakers. Would you believe I found these scrap pieces of aluminum in the garbage and the preexisting holes from somebody else’s dream seemed to line up almost perfectly to the snare drums architecture!?
