When a chronically ill or disabled person gets their lab tests back as “normal” or all clear, we aren’t sad because we WANT to be sick.
We’re sad because we *know* there’s something wrong with us, yet the scans still stay clear.
Before you kill the monster you gotta know its name.

idk who popularised the narrative "i don't let my disability stop me" but it needs to be stomped on, pulverised by a meat grinder and then thrown into the depths of the sea never to be seen again.
it is by far the most popular ableist narrative and i see it so much and immediately just think i'm a bad person for not being able to 'get over' my disability despite the fact it's an incurable, permanent and severely disabling disability.
stop stop stop stop pushing the mindset that people have to persevere despite their disabilities in order to be a worthy person
leave me alone and let me be disabled in peace

shout out to “gross” disabled people.
people who can’t shower/bathe people who can’t shave people who can’t wash their clothes people who need help going to the bathroom people who have nasty habits (biting nails, picking nose, etc) people who can’t brush their teeth people who can’t go to the doctor people who can’t clean their room people who can’t make their beds people who vomit a lot people who wet the bed people who constantly have diarrhea people who’s physical deformities are seen as repulsive
and every other kind of person I missed that deserves to be here too.
you are people, first and foremost. your thoughts deserve to be heard, discussed, acknowledged, no matter what. you are not lesser. you are just another person. you should never be ignored for what you can/can’t do. you deserve care.
to abled people: check yourself. make sure you listen. and you can reblog, just don’t derail. maybe don’t add on, either.

Friday, March 29, 2024 - (there will be a story posted on this day, I am just not sure if it will be a continuation to one of my series' or if it will be a random short story)
I will still be posting updates during the week, and maybe even making some fun small projects here and there. These are just the dates you can expect to see main posts on.
I am also working on an April event because it is my birthday month! I am still brainstorming ideas, but so far I am still in the wip stage.

If your taking requests could you write Paul Lahote x fem! Reader
Paul getting into a fight with some guy in a diner where reader works and it pissed her off so she brakes the fight and pulls Paul and the guy out of the diner by there neck's (what Bella did to Jacob)
Paul meeting her eyes and imprinting. Just him trying to win reader over
-🌹🌹
omg sorry for getting back to you so late! school takes up so much time its insane. anyways, hope you like this post!
You were in the care of your grandfather for as long as you could remember. Since your mother and father were not in the picture, your grandfather had to fill the void that was made in your heart.
He provided for you. Your grandfather made sure you ate, held you when you cried, helped you buy a car and even gave you a job at the diner he owned in Forks.
Your life wasn't full of excitement and the rush of adrenalin. Instead your life consisted of peace and boredom. But today as you stood in the diner watching two young men fight, frustration and anger boiled inside your belly as your normal routine was interrupted.
Why the hell did you have to deal with this, of all things? Can you not just have one normal shift? No, apparently you couldn't. Your grandfather sighed at the sight of the men roughhousing in his diner. He moved to break up the fight, but you beat him to the punch.
You knew your grandfather was getting too old to break up these types of fights. Sometime people would come in and start some trouble, and he would have to clean up the mess they left. But this time, you rushed in to break the fight up for your grandfather.
"Hey! What the hell do you two think your doing in this diner? Get out!" Your frustrated tone was well known, yet neither of the men were listening to you. You needed to make a decision before they broke something. Grumpily you reached into the fray and tugged on one of the men's ears. At the same time you made sure to grab the back of the neck of the other.
Pulling them up and on their feet, you forced them out the front door of the diner. If you weren't in your uniform, you would kick their asses yourself.
You took deep breaths as you released the men and stood before them. "Jesus, was that fight really necessary? Just, you know what, I don't care. Pay for your food...now!" You looked at the both of them in the eyes. Feeling a sense of warmth flood you as you looked into the second ones eyes was not what you were expecting. He was handsome sure, but something told you to hold onto him and never let go. Composing yourself you continued. "You two, never come here, again."
They both looked at each other, seemingly stunned. They nodded their heads frantically and as you turned around to walk away, the handsome one grabbed your hand.
"Wait! I uhm, I'm Paul."

I js read a post from @starstruckmiraclekitty and it got me thinking
Tumblr media
Ghost would have one of those ungodly loud, heart attack giving, dad sneezes.
Like you would think a bomb went off, that shit is so loud. No matter where he is in your house/apartment you can hear it like he’s in the same room. Sometimes it even wakes you up, wether at night or if you’re just taking a nap.
The first time you heard him sneeze you jumped outa your skin, hand on your heart with a small “oh my god” that’s quickly followed with “what the fuck Simon.”
He probably feels bad that it scares you so badly, but at the same time finds it funny and will laugh at you.

Where you go, I go.
Tumblr media
Pictures were found on pintrest, I just put them together in a collage. Also this was my first Neteyam fic that I was writing, hope you guys like it!
Seven years, that's how long you an Neteyam had been friends. It didn't feel long to you two, and if you were speaking honestly you would say that time truly flew. You knew Neteyam would agree.
However, your happy bubble of peace was burst when the sky people began attacking. Neteyam started to train to be Olo'eyktan and you took up other hunting positions. The both of you were more than busy. It was only normal for you two to drift apart after not hanging out for two months.
And while you two were not able to take time to hang out and be with each other, you two were still bestfriends. Nothing would separate you two, not death, not time, nothing.
Neteyam had a particularly hard day. He had to follow Lo'ak into battle to ensure that his little brother did not do anything stupid (more stupid than what he had already done by flying into battle) Then he was scolded by his father, and not to mention that he got hurt in the process of watching after his brother. After all of this, he craved looking into your beautiful eyes.
Though your eyes could not erase the horrors that Neteyam had seen today. He knew what the sky people were capable of, but he never knew that the war would get this bad. He never predicted the terrors that he would see.
He was used to seeing the soldiers fight and he was used to keeping an eye out for the sky peoples machines, hell he was used to fighting the creatures of the forest; yet he was not used to being that close to the fighting. He had never been on the battlefield, not really
So when Neteyam realized what the sky people were truly capable of, he understood why his father wanted to leave. He finally could see why his father was afraid.
Neteyam did not want his home to be destroyed by the sky people. And he knew that if him and his family stayed any longer, then his home would be finer than dust. It would be obliterated.
He had no idea how he would tell you that he was packing his bags and helping his family prepare for their departure. But he knew if he didn't tell you himself, then you would find out on your own. He wanted to be the one to tell you.
Neteyam decided that he would sneak out of his family hut that night and tell you his family's plan. Their home was almost completely packed up, and he maneuvered through the bags and matts that were rolled up and bunched together.
Carefully and quietly he exited the hut and moved through the paths that had been made over the rocks. He quickly and stealthily ran down the paths and to your family hut. He whistled the tune you two shared in hopes that you would hear and know what he was thinking.
He hid behind the hut and heard someone leave it. He could hear their footsteps and recognized them as yours. Neteyam relaxed after realizing that he would not have to drag you out of your tent.
You walked around the corner and saw Neteyam squatting there, ready to run if it was your parents. You smiled at him and said quietly "Is everything okay? I've been worried about you since I heard that the war party came back."
"I'm perfectly fine. Just wanted to see you is all. We need to talk, it's been too long." Neteyam said, trying to make it seem like he wasn't about to step on your heart and crush it.
Your smile grew as you followed Neteyam through the village. You two made your way to your secret spot that you hid from everyone. Even the other Sully siblings, who you were very close with.
You guys hopped on your ikrans and flew between the cliffs of your home. Thankfully your hidden spot was not too far from both of your homes. You would be back before anyone else woke up.
You two left your ikrans to play together on the cliff of the mountain you were on, and walked closer to the waterfall that hid your cave. You dove into the pool and Neteyam chuckled at your excitement. While he laughed, he still followed suit and dove in after you.
After going through the waterfall, Neteyam saw you sitting on the rock that was surrounded by water. The cave was beautiful, and just as Neteyam remembered it.
You smiled shyly and brought your knees to your chest. He smiled and crawled onto the rock.
"What is it you wanted to talk about Neteyam? I hope that everything is alright! I heard that you were wounded but that it wasn't too bad, that doesn't mean that I am not worried though-"
"Love, relax, I am okay. Just wanted to talk is all." He looked away from you and the smiled dropped from his face. "I need to tell you something serious." He looked back to you and saw the worried look on your face. "My family, we- we are... uhm"
"Spit it out Neteyam,"
"Well, we are leaving. The village I mean. And I just wanted to tell you before you found out from someone else. I have seen what the sky people are capable of. And we do not wish to bring their pain and suffering to our home." Neteyam said slowly, and you took in every word that he said.
You were shocked to say the least. Your Olo'eyktan was leaving. And he was taking his family with him. Obviously he would you thought to yourself. After all they were his everything.
You looked into Netyeam's eyes as fear welled in yours. You had no idea how to respond. Do you get angry at him? For what? Do you ask questions? What more is there to ask?
You contemplated what to say. Yet your heart knew what to say. You knew what you wanted to say.
You stood up from the rock and walked over to Neteyam. You silently kneeled down in front of him and pulled your braid in front of you to fiddle with it. Neteyam seemed nervous with how close you two were. Yet he didn't move away.
You smiled at him and said "I understand Neteyam. I am not angry or upset. I know what you are willing to do for your family and for this village. I know what you are feeling."
He looked to you and his face seemed to scrunch a little, he tried to hid the tears in his eyes but you could still see them. He didn't want to leave his home behind, he didn't want to leave you behind! How could he fly away from his bestfriend? His partner in crime. His everything.
You whispered out to him, as if you were afraid of anyone else hearing even though you two were alone, "Neteyam, where you go I go. I want to come with you. And I know what you are going to say." You continued before he could interrupt you "I am a big person. I want to come with you so I will. There is nothing that you can do to stop me. You know why? Because Neteyam, I see you. And if you don't see me that's okay! I would understand, I just need to make sure that you are safe. So please Neteyam. Let me come with you."
Neteyam was absolutly stunned to say the least. He had no idea that you felt the same way. And that you were willing to come with him! He shouldn't be surprised, you two were bestfrineds after all. He knew better than to argue with you. But that's when it hit him. What you had just said. The magnitude of what you had said hit him like damn brick.
His grin finally grew back and he threw himself at you as tears streamed down his face. "Oh god y/n how do you do this to me? I see you too. And I want to be with you forever, if you'll have me."
You smiled as you leaned into his hug, "Of course you skxawng."
That night you and Neteyam were united as one. Mated before Eywa and promised to each other for forever. And that morning you, Neteyam, and his family flew away from your home in search of another. Meanwhile a secret brewed between Neteyam and his family, but for now he would ignore that feeling of unease and relish in the feeling of your bond.

Hello ! May I asked for a Neteyam x mtf reader, daughter of Ronal and Tonowari, where they can’t stand each other, but one day there’s kinda an annual celebration and no men wants to dance with her bc she’s trans, so Neteyam took it upon himself to ask her, to everyone surprise ?
It can be angsty or fluffy, your choice for the context (bonus id there’s their families reactions) thank you !
Simple Dance PT. 1
Dude this is such a beautiful request. I am genuinely excited to write this for you. And I am so sorry that I got this to you late! I had a shit ton of work to do :( But it is here for you to hopefully, enjoy :) Also I decided to turn it into a multi part series. It probably wont be to long but I hope you like what I have in store for you!
Tumblr media
Arriving to the Metkayina islands was nerve wracking to say the least. He could see it in Kiri's face, how nervous she was. He noticed the way that she gripped the netted shall around her. He also noticed the way Tuk searched for their mothers hand. Neteyam could see the way she gripped it like a lifeline.
Neteyam held his arms out imitating his father, trying to show he was indeed, not a threat. He looked around the crowd of unfamiliar faces. Back home, he knew everyone. And everyone knew him. The future Olo'eyktan, the soon to be leader of his clan. Yet here, he knew no one. And no one knew him. He was an outsider, simple as that.
New faces approached him and his family. Three people emerged from the crowd, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, a young boy around their age, and a girl that seemed to have caught Lo'ak's attention.
Neteyam looked to his father for guidance on everything. Especially in this situation with new people and a completely new environment. He paid close attention to his mother and fathers interactions with Ronal and Tonowari. He listened to the way that his father explained that they needed asylum. That his family needed a new home.
Neteyam noticed the way your head tilted and judged the family in front of you. You thought to yourself Asking for asylum in your home. How dare they?!?! They had no right to bring their war with them to your beautiful home. Similar thoughts rushed through your head and all you felt was anger while looking at the Sully family.
You were an exact replica of Ronal, the similarities did not stop at the head tilt and judgment filled eyes, you had her face shape, beautiful blue eyes and soft smile. You looked just like her.
When Neteyam finally realized that your eyes were filled of anger and even an ounce of betrayal, he was extremely cautious. Especially when you and your brother Ao'nung began protesting your fathers decision on letting him and his family stay. He was suddenly even more nervous than he had been in the first place.
After your father shut down yours an Ao'nung's protests, he finally learned your beautiful name. Y/N, the most gorgeous name Neteyam had ever heard. Tonowari introduced his children, starting from Ao'nung, to you, and to Tsyira your little sister.
Tsyira led the way to their new home, showing him and his family the village. You following closely next to her, blatantly ignoring everyone besides Tuk, who pulled at your top and bounced on the soft nets of the ground that held the village up.
You and Tsyira decided to let the large family settle in. You, being more than glad that you didn't have to spend another moment with the outsiders.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Sully's didn't waste any time getting to work. If there was one thing that you would admit, it was that they were all hard workers. While Tsyira and Roxto taught the Sully children to breath underwater and dive, you taught the Sully children to hunt underwater.
You were one of the tribes best hunters, but often went overlooked due to you being different than all of the other hunters. Yes you were the clan leaders daughter, but that really didn't help your case.
You demonstrated what herbs and fish to gather, and how to not take too much from the ocean, as she would take back just as plentily. You showed the Sully family that the Ocean could be a beautiful place. And you may have been starting to grow, at least, a little bit tolerable of them.
You and Tuk got close first. You helped her understand the ocean more and see the beauty of her new home. You warmed up to Kiri next, then Lo'ak (as your sister had taken a particular liking to him) and finally Neteyam. While you sooner or later warmed up to him, it took you a long time. He didn't particularly like you either as you tended to snicker at Ao'nung's jokes in the beginning. When you started warming up to his family however, you quickly scolded Ao'nung and even stood up for the Sully family. Especially Lo'ak and Kiri, as they both were old enough to be made fun of, and they both had four fingers.
You also helped Jake and Neytiri with hunting and gathering underwater. Helping them learn how to hold their breath, though they weren't as good as their children. They were kind to you. Especially Neytiri. She saw something in you something that reminded herself of well, herself.
Neteyam's parents liked you. They automatically saw the potential love brewing under the neutral feels that you an Neteyam shared. Especially Neytiri, as her mother had given a message from Eywa. A message that said a woman would mate with Neteyam after a big change in the families life. A woman who was different than the others. A woman that was not born a woman but instead had been led by Eywa to her true form.
Neteyam didn't notice it at first. Your deeper voice that made you cringe, or your bigger form (though you were still young, your form wasn't big at all you were just self conscious) or even the way others treated you. That was untill Lo'ak's dumbass pointed out how none of the other villagers really liked you.
You had always been a helper, helping the village in any way that you could. But when you had "come out" as Jake would later call it, no one treated you the same. They refused any and all of your help besides the younger women and children. They didn't care nor did they perfectly understand. They just saw Eywa leading you to a new path.
This is how your mother saw it as well. Eywa leading you on a different path than that of the one you were born on. She saw it when you were very young. And no matter what you did she would always love you.
Your father was very similar. He loved you no matter what and he would lead the village into loving you as well. He also always followed his mates lead, so there is that.
After around three months of the Sully family settling in, the village decided to hold a festival for their complete integration into their society. At this time you and Neteyam had grown a bit closer. Finding excuses to hang out with each other, Neteyam and you could finally say that you liked each other. In more ways than one.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Y/N! Come look at what I found!" Screamed Tuk as she ran over to you in your family home. You had been prepping things for the festival and your mother wanted everything to be perfect.
"What is it Tuk?" You said to her gently while she dragged you to her siblings. Looking up your eyes met Kiri's and you smiled at her then your eyes moved to the closest person. Neteyam. He looked particularly handsome today with his ceremonial paint on. Though you would never admit that to him.
Tuk pointed to the shiny pearls that she found on the sand right, before the shore. You smiled at her and said "It seems that Eywa wanted to give these to you Tuk. If you would like I can net them into a top for you?" You held the small girls hand as she gripped you tightly. She smiled and repeatedly nodded her head.
"Y/n, how has been preparing for the festival? My family would have loved to help, that is if anyone in the village would let us." Neteyam said, almost desperate to get your eyes on him. He had grown quite fond of you lately.
You smiled at Neteyam, you said gently, "It's been quite nice, thank you. I have always loved preparing for festivals with my mother. She is amazing at setting up floral pieces for people to wear or hand out. And we want it to be special for your family. This is why you do not work today."
Neteyam looked at you, today you seemed different. You had the most beautiful paint covering your tummy and face. It covered the tattoos on your nose, cheeks, and stomach. Though the paint did not take away from your beauty. Neteyam mentally thanked Eywa for letting him see you like this.
You gently grabbed the pearls from Tuks hands as she held them out for you. You smiled, you did a lot of that with the Sully children. They made the village's scrutiny disappear. They treated you with respect even when they found out that you were not born a woman. They treated you with love and care, just the way you should have when they sought refuge in your home.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prepping for the ceremony went by quicker than you realized. The whole village was lit up with lanterns and a huge bon fire on the beach. People were dancing, no one sat still, besides you.
Sitting there on the sand next to the ocean is where Neteyam saw you. You seemed lonely there, not participating in the fun of the ceremony, not dancing with the Sully children. All alone.
Before he knew what he was doing, Neteyam made his way over to you with a small smile on his face. You looked as if you had been crying, poofy eyes and a frown on your face.
"What are you doing out here? Shouldn't you be dancing with someone, daughter of the Olo'eyktan and all." Neteyam said trying not to step on your toes. He failed.
Your frown deepened before you looked up at Neteyam. "No one wants to dance with a freak like me." You said it quietly and simply. The simple statement broke Neteyam's heart.
"What do you mean no one wants to dance with you? I'm right here aren't I?" His head tilted to the side and a smile grew on his face. Your head snapped up to him.
"Seriously? You? Want to dance with me? Why?" You said this just as quietly as before. Why the hell would Neteyam want to dance with you of all people? You were different than all the other village women. He could easily find a real women to dance with. These thoughts rushed through your head before he interrupted them.
"Who wouldn't want to dance with a pretty girl like you?" He said sweetly. He didn't mean to flirt, but at the same time he totally did. He knew exactly what was coming out of his mouth and he knew that he could control it. Neteyam held his hand out for you to grab.
You glanced up at his face to see if he was joking. When you realized that he was genuine, you smiled and gently gripped his hand in yours.
Pushing your feet though the sand you and Neteyam finally made it to the crowd of people dancing. Your smile grew when you saw Kiri, Tuk, Lo'ak and Tsyria. They danced together happily and forgot about all the problems that Pandora currently held.
Seeing their children dance together. Netyiri, Jake , Ronal, and Tonowari held a collective smile. They knew this would happen sooner or later. With you and Neteyam getting closer and with how often you managed to see each other. It was bound to happen. Though, you only danced, Ronal and Neytiri knew what the future would bring. They both knew it would be bright for their two children.

Hiii for a ghost x female reader I was hoping for like something sad if that's ok. Like when Richie in IT 2 got dragged away from Eddie's dead Body cause the sewers were gonna collapse and Richie was like saying Eddie still in there and stuff but he was already dead I was thinking like that scene but with ghost and female reader where reader dead and the building gonna collapse or blow up and the 141 drags ghost away but ghost doesn't want to leave her behind but she already dead.
Thank you so much for the request! You gave me the perfect amount of story, so do not worry :) I hope that I am able to fulfill your antsiest dreams. Also I hope that this isn't too short, the story is short and angsty, if that's okay with you!

How Could You?
Tumblr media
The mission was supposed to be simple. But when were they ever really simple?
It should have been easy for the task force. But instead of meeting up with an informant, here they were being shot at and having bombs blow up all around them.
Lurking through the shadows you and Ghost cleared a couple buildings on your way to evac. You moved fast and stealthy. Similarly, Ghost followed you, staying close to your back.
Ghost hadn't realized that someone was in front of you until you had been shot. Right through the chest, and most likely the lung. You may have made it if they had gotten you to evac quick enough. No one was that lucky on this night.
Ghost reacted quickly, shooting the enemy and squatting down to check your pulse. Before he could check for your pulse, the building was rumbling. Shaking from the top down. Definitely not an earthquake.
Ghost was not one to hesitate. He was not one to second guess what he was doing. But in this moment having you bleeding out in front of him, had him confused and scared. For the first time in many years he was scared.
"LT? LT how copy? What building are you in man, we need to get to evac now!" Soaps voice broke through the coms and shook Simon Riley to his core. In seconds he was no longer Simon, but the stone cold killer that he was trained to be. He reacted, and he reacted fast. Grabbing at your vest and lifting you onto his shoulders, before the building shook again and he lost his grip on you.
Suddenly Soap entered the building. He grabbed Ghost by his vest before looking down at you. Soap reached out fast and felt for a pulse, nothing. The building shook again.
"Simon we need to get out of here now. LETS-" Soap was cut off by another shake. Simon was dead silent staring at your body. Soap knew he needed to move quickly, just like how Ghost would. He grabbed Simon by his vest and started pulling him out of the building.
"NO!" Simon said shortly, he fought with Soap weakly, muscles still in shock from the tragedy that he just witnessed. Soap continued to pull him roughly out of the doorway of the tall blue building. They had just made it 10 feet from the door when it all collapsed.
Thoughts raced through Simons head. Thoughts like "How could you?" How could Soap pull him out of that building away from the love of his life? How could you die like when you had so much life left to live?
You were meant to go live in the countryside. A beautiful little sheep farm with a herding dog, and an outside cat that fought the dumb dog. You were meant to live happily with him till you were old and wrinkled. Maybe with kids! For Christ sake you were the one for him. The only one.

DNI rules and Meet the Author (updated March 2024)
Tumblr media
I'd like the first post on my blog to show people what kind of activity is welcome and who is welcome here. We will start off with the DNI list, and then move onto the introduction!
DNI (subject to change depending on me and what I am comfortable with):
racists, homophobs, transphobs, abelists, terfs, fatphobs
people under 14, this rule has been the same on my blog since I created it, considering I am almost an adult I would like to keep my content for older teens and younger adults, not younger teens and children. (also will be checking ages!)
people with unrequested critisism, if I don't ask for it then don't give it.
I want to keep this a safe and comfortable space for everyone. That includes minors, people in the lgbtq community, plus sized people and neurodivergent people!
I fall under many of these categories, not only do I want people like me represented in writing, but I also want people like me to have a safe space where they are not judged and uncomfortable.
Get to know me
My name is Gray, I am a 7teen year old student (they/them) who has a part time job. I love reading, writing, listening to music, art, and journaling. I have struggled with mental health issues for many years, and am actively using coping skills to keep myself safe and happy. One of those coping skills is writing!
I have a lot of WIPS and would like to share them with the community that I build. Don't be afraid to send in a request (when my requests are open) or an ask. I am more than willing to chat with you any day of the week!
I would love if you like, comment, and reblog my work. It is very appreciated! Hope that you get to learn a little about me and that you want to stick around.

The drive to the beach was nice. The car moved fluidly on the road that was thankfully not icy today. Though I wasn’t sure I would have this kind of luck tomorrow, I prayed that I would.
Pulling up to La Push’s beach was like an out of body experience. I didn’t even know where I was going, I just let my gut lead the way. Like something was pulling me here. I smiled seeing that the sun was still up and there was a sunset that I could capture with my watercolors perfectly. This was the perfect setting for a nice relaxing evening. I hopped out of the car and noticed three other cars pull up and park, thankfully not next to me.
I quickly grabbed my bag and shuffled to the sand, I waddled my way through the sand and listened to the people behind me. What was a huge group of people doing out here on a Sunday afternoon? Was this just the perfect weather to come to the beach or something? No, way too cold. Especially teens, a majority of them look like they are sixteen to seventeen. Similar to me. So why were they out at this time of day right before school tomorrow? Maybe I’m looking too deep into it. I thought to myself. No, I need to be cautious, I have more than just me to think about now.
Still aware of my surroundings I sat on the sand and pulled everything out of my bag. I began sketching and painting the beautiful sky and the gorgeous sunset that was in front of me. We didn’t see things like this from my city.
Everything was peaceful for almost ten minutes. The group of people that arrived at the beach looked like locals. They were definitely used to the weather because they wore jorts and tank tops. Some even didn’t have shirts. I eyed this group from the side, trying not to be too obvious.
Two girls, the rest were dudes from what I could see. Wait, is that Emily? I wanted to stand up and say hi, ask her how she was doing and meet her friends but instead I quickly looked away. I was more than nervous to meet all of those people, the only time that I could ever be that confident is if I was high. But of course I couldn’t do that anymore.
Instead I sat there, ignoring the huge group of presumably close friends, and painted till a ball came flying at me and my shit. I cringed when the ball almost hit my piece and my head at the same time. I was sketching with the paper so close to my face that I might as well have been glued to the page itself.
“Jared! You need to be more careful man! I am so sorry, are you okay?” A young teen came running up to me. He looked around 14 - 15. A little younger than me, I  was 17, almost 18. “Please ignore my friend, he kicks and doesn’t care where the ball flies. I’m Seth by the way, what's your name?” He spoke fast, like he wasn’t used to having people listen to him. Seth had a huge smile on his face, he looked kind at heart, like the world was treating him right. His smile was infectious. I gave him a small smile, one that I could muster.
“y/n, nice to meet you Seth. I would shake your hand but I am currently covered in paint.” I tried to sound casual and not nervous, though it was hard. A couple other kids ran up to me, a girl my age, the boy that kicked the ball, and a boy who also looked to be my age. The girl whose name I would later learn to be Leah, seemed to have a permanent glare on her face. The boy that kicked the ball, Jared, seemed playful with his friends but not open to me. And the boy who looked to be my age, Paul, looked me in the eyes and was dogging me down.
He had this look on his face, hard to describe, but the best way to explain it would be to say he was reminiscing on something. Like he saw his life flash before his eyes and everything was perfect, like everything made sense. “Hi,” Paul said, sounding like a fucking idiot. I liked that. “Hi,” I replied as I tried to match his energy. “I’m Paul, nice to meet you.” He said as if he sobered up within a couple seconds. “I’m y/n, nice to meet you too. Uh don’t worry about kicking the ball out here it’s not a big deal-”
“Want to come eat with us? Emily makes really good food, she’s the woman over there very very nice. We have a ton of food to spare so you know you can help yourself.” Seth said, seeming to be onto something that I wasn’t.
“Uhm sure, I can’t stay long, I've got to be back soon,” I said, hoping to make some friends outside of school. Maybe this would be a good thing.
The night moved by quickly. I met Sam, Emily’s fiance, Leah, Jared, Jacob, Quill, and Embry. They were all friendly. Welcoming even, like I had always been a part of their group. It was weird, but comforting in a way.
Paul hovered around me all night. Not like I minded, it was nice having someone care for me, someone other than my usual crowd.
After some time I looked down at my clock and realized I had 20 minutes to get home. I hopped up off of one of the lawn chairs Paul grabbed for me, and rushed to grab my things. Paul looked at me worriedly and confused, it was like a fucking truck hit me or something.
“Sorry guys, I have to get going, curfew. Look here is my number if you guys want to hang out again, cool! I’ll see you later!” I quickly snatched up my bag after writing my number on a page of sketchbook paper and I rushed away from the group and to my car.
I not only made it back home safely, but I made it with 5 minutes to spare. I was one lucky mother fucker.
One thing that I didn’t notice was the gigantic wolf running alongside my car, like my own personal gradian angel.
After bursting through the door and telling my grandparents good night I rushed up the stairs and into my room.
I finally relaxed when I was in my own bedroom. I set my things down on my bed and started to grab some clothes so that I could take a shower. I made sure not to get my hair wet as it was not a wash day, and only scrubbed down my body. After I was done I rubbed lotion on my body with some nice smelling strawberry lotion, it was starting to grow on me. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I was more than lucky to have this luxury while I was here, and I moved to go to bed.
By the time I managed to lay down and get comfortable my phone vibrated on the nightstand. I groaned as I rolled over to grab it and noticed 2 texts from my little sister and 1 text from an unknown number.
First I replied to my sister, telling her how I was and that I would send her money soon. I pointed her in the direction of a couple well paying jobs that I knew would hire her (I had connections) and told her that a couple of my friends would be checking on her and my other siblings every week.
I had been saving up for the past couple years to buy a house near my grandparents, far away from my parents, and a place that they would never guess my little siblings would be. They were too stupid to guess I would be right under their noses anyways.
I decided years ago that when I turn 18 I will buy a house and get custody of my siblings. Thanks to my well paying job and some friends, I had more than enough money to support them and buy a house. Now all I have to do is wait.
Then I opened the message from the unknown number. It said “Hey this is Paul. Just wanted you to know this is my number :)”
A comforted smile grew on my face. Looks like I made a friend. Happily I replied to him with a simple hi and smiley face and crashed.
The next morning I was up nearly an hour and a half early for school. Normally I wouldn’t be up this early unless I was working, but my grandma wanted me up and ready for the day ahead. I got dressed in a pair of jeans, long socks (that did not match) and a cute long sleeve white shirt with a thick brown jacket over it. I grabbed my backpack after brushing my teeth and washing my face and slowly moved downstairs. All the energy from yesterday left me like there was no tomorrow. I sat down at the dining room table and ate whatever my grandmother put in front of me. Which so happened to be french toast and eggs, according to her it was a “Big day!” and “We need to celebrate after you come home!”
I could practically feel the anxiety rushing through my veins, I had no idea what to do. This was my first time in school for years and I was just supposed to waltz in there and act like I’ve done this shit before? Christ I was a junior taking junior level classes that I was not prepared for at all!
After eating I got into the blue truck and drove my ass to school. I was more than 40 minutes early, but that would give me time to walk around and find all my classes. So it wasn’t such a bad thing, right?
Pulling up to the school was terrifying, but I collected myself and hopped out of the truck. Everyone's eyes were already on me, but I squared my shoulders and held my head high. Just like my boss taught me. And I walked into the office to get my schedule, books, and make my way to class.
