Happy Sunday everyone!
I have been following along with The Crossing Church online and have been going through their "Nope." Series. This is week two posted below going over James Chapter 1 verses 19-25.

James 1:19-20 KJV- Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Here is my takeaway:
I struggle with this lesson the most - not only with myself but with the environment around me. Only recently, and I mean very recently have I toned myself down from engaging in conflict with road rage incidents or rude people in public. I have always been extremely quick to anger and quick to fire back at others with horrible language. After several of these incidents happened in a row while my daughters were around, it hit me that I'm not teaching them well and I'm certainly not giving a Christ-like example. In that moment I realized heavily that I have been failing them by letting my impulsive anger get the best of me. I decided I wanted to do better but was struggling with how to do that when this had been my impulsive response for years. I needed to take several steps back and focus on de-stressing my life. Consciously, I need to practice kindness. I need to not engage when others are nasty with me and instead remove myself from the situation or let authorities handle it if it's an emergency. Other than that, I needed to pray about it daily. I'm practicing turning towards God instead of acting on impulse.
In what areas of my life do I need to become a doer of God's word?
The way I respond when overwhelmed, stressed, or angry.
Impulse Exists When:
- You are slow to listen
- Quick to speak
- And quick to become angry
Event + Response = Outcome
Event + Respond as Jesus would = Best Outcome
God's word is not notes to be taken, it is to be applied. It is to be done. It needs to be applied if transformation is going to take place.
James 1:25 KJV - But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Don't chase money, chase God and he will provide.
