a tip for those people who like someone, but doesnt want to like them: open a very private google doc, or writing thingy (you can do this on paper but i recommend a computer because a lot of people can type faster than they can write) and you know those scenerios that you make up? WRITE THEM DOWN, pour out every thought and feeling you have about that person and don't stop until you run out of thoughts. it might take a while.

this will do one of two things

1. you will better after saying everything instead of ignoring the feelings, its a way to get them out of your system without telling anybody. you will probably feel better

2. you reread that shit and realise how much of a dumbass you sound like. you see the feelings as silly and dont feel them anymore because they are now right there in plain sight. exactly how it is.

obviously this isnt guaranteed to work, but it has never failed me.

Plagiarism: What it is and why we don't do it

What is it? Plagiarism is when you take someone else's work and call it your own. If you take a story line and change names, appearances, setting, etc but it's still the same story line and/or events this is still plagiarism.

What's the difference between plagiarism and inspiration? Great question, and I'm here to answer it.

Plagiarism is when you directly work off of someone's work and change a couple things and call it your own. If you take a story/art/song whatever and give credit to the original artist, this isn't plagiarism, however you should ask before reposting something.

Inspiration. Let's take my recent fanfic on Wattpad, The Bread Thief, for example. Say I'm reading it and I'm like "Wow, this story takes place in the Victorian Era. It would be really cool to write about other time periods. I'm going to write about pirates in the 1700s" THAT is Inspiration. When you get an idea while reading someone else's work, but it's not theirs.

Now here comes the big fat question. Why does it matter?

Writing/art/etc takes so much effort. It takes time and brain cells and probably tissues from crying from the artist block we all get. If you didn't create it, why would you take it? Why would you take something that someone else put time and effort into when you did nothing? Even something like a fanfic. That still takes time and planning and development and so much work.

If you take anything away from this post, learn this: plagiarism is bad and you don't do it. Taking someone's work and claiming it as your own, just makes you an asshole, especially if you know what you're doing and you've asked.

I feel like this really didn't need to be a post but here we are.
