Passes on with a 4 to 1 vote, with the one 'no' saying that if we continue to add all these sexualities, it's a slippery slope to adding MAPs (minor attracted persons), otherwise known as pedophiles.

The response she got was naturally insulted and disgusted.

@multifanforever I'd say that's probably a pretty rare take on it. Many artists survive by commission, and now companies can take art without payment or credit or even asking, make a robot to perfectly replicate what you do, and sell it for a fraction of the price, stealing all of your customers.

Many jobs end up irrelevant because of robots and AI, but the idea of the entire art field becoming obsolete is pretty much dystopian.

As well, a lot of motivation to make art comes from the pride you take in it. AI not only discourages this, by spitting out seemingly great work almost instantaneously, but creates a feeling of loss of ownership and destroys that connection with your work. You now cannot make anything unique, as someone could type in your name with a prompt and have it before you could even start planning the layout.

As well as well, it's just plain insulting.

AI is, at this point in history, misleadingly named. Computers cannot think for themselves, and can only run processes that they are programmed to run. AI is not ever truly creating something from scratch. It's always taking.

However, there are ways to ethically use it. AI art is not, as a whole, an inherently bad thing. Most of the training really doesn't end up having it replicating anything. A well trained AI has been given countless examples of what it should consider a- for example- banana. It doesn't get told to remember those pictures- they just get processed through until the computer has an understanding of what range, orientation, colour, arrangement, etc., of pixels is a banana. It should still be asking for donations, though, instead of just scraping the internet.

The big problems start when it starts being used unethically.

I've linked it before but here is a video that goes into AI art- all the good, bad, objective facts, legalities, and possible futures surrounding it. It's long but thorough.

How do you not get depressed over all the AI bullshit? I'm trying my best but it's so disheartening seeing it take over the art industry.

I just saw an article on Bluesky that Webtoon now has AI tools that will not only draw the comics but you can input a specific artist and it will steal their style for you. Apparently in korea they are using AI to pump out a bunch of garbage ai anime comics as cash cows.

I guess the best we can hope for is that people value human creations more than these soulless content machines.

I guess I'm just nostalgic for a bygone era. Maybe that's why I still buy cds and think fondly of old eras. I guess i miss the optimism of the future before it felt like i was living in a corporate nightmare lol.

So I was browsing on Pinterest to save some pins on my favourite subject matters when I came across these two pictures:

I couldn’t take my eyes off them. Honestly they look absolutely gorgeous and are so in love with each other. This is a bit frustrating because the pictures themselves didn’t label or indicate who the artist is and I wish to know who they are.

If anyone does know who the actual artist is, I hope they will get the due credit and adulation they deserve for bringing such beauteous art.
