I am in a weird intersecting fandom space that when I see a post that says the words "Harry" and "Kim" I have to take a moment to discern whether they are talking about Ensign Harry Kim himself of Star Trek: Voyager fame or human disasters Harry DuBois and Kim Kitsuragi of the hit game Disco Elysium.

Accidentally went on a Star Trek rant today trying to get a girl I know to watch it. I started out talking about the Enterprise episode where Trip gets pregnant, then went to Spock's Brain, then to Amok Time, and thusly the Omegaverse.
I don't know if she will watch it now... or speak to me ever again.

"I don't like Voyager because of the characters." "I don't like Voyager because of the writing." WRONG. I don't like Voyager (I actually do like it very much) because they made it canonical that Vulcans (or at least Tuvok) like BLAND FOOD, which is INCORRECT and INSULTING. Vulcan dishes are absolutely flavorful and spicy and are in fact so hot that other species try them and suffer while the Vulcans look on impassively. I will not be told otherwise and will hereby be ignoring that scene in Voyager.

Star Trek Voyager will really casually drop the rawest most relatable and tragic lines you've ever heard, think "I think I kill myself slowly because I don't have the courage to actually do it," then have some silly ass scene like "take the cheese to sick bay" or this

I think it is very important for new Star Trek fans, especially new TOS fans to know that in 2008, George Takei, who played Sulu, got married to his partner of 23 years, Brad Altman, and at their wedding, Nichelle Nichols, who played Uhura, and Walter Koenig, who played Chekov, served as Best Lady and Best Man.

A little headcanon about Zack and Brad based on season 3 and definitely not also on my own life experiences.
Brad has been IQ tested, but I like to think that he and his brother were both tested as young children because their parents suck. When they get the results back, Brad has a somewhat high IQ of 132 and Zack gets 125, just 7 points lower. But, because of this, Zack is horribly competitive with Brad, trying to prove himself just as smart or smarter, trying to defy the (completely arbitrary) numbers they received. But, since their parents suck, Zack also has to have those 7 points lorded over his head and he is constantly reminded of his "inadequacy" in comparison. So, it is this that ultimately sparks Zack's hatred of and competitiveness against Brad, who doesn't reciprocate because, from his perspective, it's just not that big of a deal, just 7 points.

I have such a love hate relationship with Odo because half of me is saying "Odo is great, he's so autistic, he has his micro routines and delayed meltdowns, and his difficulty with faces, and his pathetic unrequited best friend crush and his thinly veiled gay relationship with the local criminal barkeep, and his desperate need for structure, and his deadpan humor and he is just so relatable" and the other is saying "fuck that union-busting cop." The latter half is currently winning the fight because I stand by Rom and I would absolutely join O'Brien in his Promenade brawl against his friend who is patronizing an exploitative anti-union establishment.

I think the biggest disservice of all time is what they did to my man Thranduil in The Hobbit movies. In the book, sure he's a little dramatic when it comes to imprisoning the dwarves until they admit their business, but to be fair, they did go around scaring the shit out of the socially adverse little wood elves. And he helps out Laketown by building them shelters from the cold after their town is destroyed and he goes with Bard and the men from Laketown to demand money for the people of Laketown and Bilbo absolutely adores him basically goes "If I have to fight in this battle, I want to fight to protect Thranduil" and he calls Bilbo "elf-friend" and is overall just a great little guy. And then in the movies, they make him out to be this huge angry greedy bitch and it's so sad because he's not evil :(

My favorite genre of show has to be the batshit insane kind where nothing makes sense half of the time and they throw in random details that will never come up again but then 30 seconds later they deliver some of the most gut-wrenchingly tragic lines you've ever heard in your life.

I found Community by taking that "which character are you" personality test and getting Abed as my top match. At that point I figured I should watch a show with a character that is so much like me. So, I guess I started watching Community because I am autistic and so is Abed.
So we can all agree we've been obsessed with community for quite some time now...
I must ask, what caught your attention in the first place? For me, many years back(about 2015/2016) I remember being super into donald glover mainly for his music, but I saw he was in a TV show, and I remember going on YouTube and one of the first things that popped up was "troy and abed funny moments" which were just scenes from s1 and s2. Now I knew they were hilarious, but I didn't think much of watching it. Until, on a random average day last October, I said "why not" when I saw community on Netflix top results. And dear god, I am not the same person I once was. I am unbelievably in love with abed nadir and simultaneously want to be him so I can have troy DO YOU SEE MY PROBLEM. Anyway, im curious to hear how yall found the community hole, it's a party in here
