y’all have got to start tagging things properly for fics. Tumblr’s system won’t ever be as good as AO3’s but we can help make it better by using good tagging etiquette. so here’s some tips/reminders for tagging from someone who’s been here for 15 years:
only tag the characters with a significant role in the fic. if your fic is about Alexios and Kassandra does not appear in it or doesn’t have a speaking part, then it should not get tagged as ‘kassandra’ or any kassandra related tag.
related to the above: if your fic is for ‘jon snow x reader’ then don’t add other ‘character x reader’ tags to it, unless the reader is actually being paired with another character too. it’s exhausting to go to a tag then have to scroll for five minutes to even find a relevant fic.
an OC is not the same thing as a reader. if your fic is for an OC then use ‘character x oc.’ it’s literally that simple.
tagging a fic as reader and then having it be about two canon characters or a canon ship is not a reader fic. if I wanted jonsa or jonerys fics I would search for them with their respective tags. they do not belong in a ‘x reader’ tag.
and on a related note, please for the love of all things use “read more” cuts. the fic info (title, pairing, rating, etc) and maybe 2–3 paragraphs then the cut is more than enough. I promise not using a read more and having to scroll endlessly makes me less likely to ever read your fic. and if your excuse is that you’re on mobile, here’s how you add a read more cut: type ‘:readmore:’ on a new line where you want the cut to be then hit enter/return. easy as that.

"Ice Cold", a Leon Kennedy x reader fanfiction
As an Art and Design student all you want to do is just knuckle down and finish that one goddamn piece you've been working on for months. Too bad your time is constantly stolen by your Waiter job with minimal pay, but hey, at least the tips are good if you unbutton your shirt that one more time.

Chapter 9: Lost
Darkness, dampness and loud noises clouded your senses as you tried to open your eyes. “What is this place? Where am I?” You attempted to ask yourself, only with your voice being blocked by a wet cloth jammed into your mouth.
You tried to move your arms and legs but they were restricted by leather straps tying you to a groggy wooden chair. You had been stripped of almost all your clothing, leaving you wearing nothing but a grey tank top and black underwear. You shifted around but felt too tired to actually have the power to free yourself.
“Looks like our Sleeping Beauty is awake.” A deep voice announced from behind you. You felt a hand drape onto your shoulder, heavily gripping it. Your head was lifted up from your chin and you were face to face with a cheap handheld camera standing on a tripod. With the small red light coming from it you realised it was recording you. “Say hello.”
The cloth was ripped out of your mouth and was thrown onto a table beside your kidnapper. “Leon..?” Your voice was weak and it hurt for you to talk. “Where am I?” You weren't sure if you would receive an answer but you were secretly praying for one.
“Oh, he isn’t going to reply.” The deep voice interrupted. “But it’s time we make him pay for the things he has done.” The man started to walk around in the dark room and you tried to follow him with your eyes, making sure not to move your head too much due to the constant pain you felt. Your eyes slowly got used to the darkness and that's when you saw the things in front of you: Gasoline cans. A car battery. A metal hatchet. Multiple medical tools. You felt a shiver going down your spine as you thought about the possible things they could do to you with these things. You saw enough movies and TV shows to know where in which direction this was going.
“Shall we get started darling?” A different voice appeared from behind you. It was more higher pitched and less threatening but due to what they said you were still scared. You were sure she was going to be the one using those instruments on you. She ran her fingers across the various tools and picked up the largest one. The gasoline can.
“What do you want from me?!” You cried out with all the strength you still had. Millions of thoughts ran through your head, you were thinking of anything that these people could have wanted. “Is it money? I- I can give you money!” Your cries were interrupted as another man kicked under your chair, forcing it to fall back with your head smacking on the hard and wet floor.
“We don’t want your money.” The original voice replied as he lit up a cigarette, that being one of the only light sources in the dark room.
“Well what do you wa-” Your question was interrupted by a heavy cloth smothering your face, you attempted to fling it off by moving your head but you were met with a steel capped boot kicking your head, forcing you to stop squirming and to stay still. A gush of gasoline was dumped on your face, waterboarding you. You coughed and attempted to fight it but soon you began to drown, your lungs becoming filled with gasoline. It was kept up for around three minutes, being sure to make sure that there was a break when you were actually going to drown. They were trying to send a message to Leon, not actually kill you, for now at least. A car battery and jumper cables. You cried out just thinking about what will happen next. Heavy streams poured from your eyes and ran down your face, mixing with the gasoline that was still present all over your body.
“I’m actually quite a big fan of yours, I've been watching you for a few days now.” The torturer said as she connected the jumper cables to the ends of your fingers. “So you’re probably wondering why I'm doing this.” The cables were then connected to a small and old car battery, something ancient in modern day standards. “It’s because I was promised your body after we’re done here. I’ll be sure to not completely cook you alive.” Electricity coursed through your veins, causing the hairs on your arms to stand up on their ends. Your entire body shook and spasmed as you tried to fight the volts being injected into you.
You weren't even crying anymore. Your body was exhausted and you wanted nothing more than to close your eyes. After you felt another shock flow through your body it hit you and you must have passed out, the world around you turning black.
You probably weren't out for too long, but it was probably still too long for your torturers. You felt cold water hit your face, waking you up and bringing you back into the painful reality you were still in. You looked around again, still feeling tired and perhaps even worse than before. By now the room was a bit more lit up, an old light bulb hanging from the roof flickering nonstop. The camera in front of you was still on, nothing else had changed when you were blacked out. You tried to look around more, in hope of finding a way out somehow. A metallic sound made you turn again, looking for what was coming for you now. “Oh, we're not done yet with you, sweetheart. You better not pass out again, unless you don’t wanna wake up next time..”, the female voice said and the faint light from the light bulb reflected off of the head of a hatchet as it was raised in the air. Before you were able to react in some way, the sound of the axe carved through the air deafening you as you awaited for it to collide with your body. Shortly after blood began to pour out of your leg at the fresh wound caused by the axe. If the blood loss wasn’t to kill you, the tetanus would. Your exhausted screams shattered the room, your begs and cries to be finished off were all that could be heard until a hand came in contact with your mouth. Forcing you to be quiet with duct tape. As you were focusing on the duct tape and the carving in your leg, you were cut free from your chair, giving you a chance to stand up. You tried your best, although the bone wasn’t broken it was still a struggle for you to get up. The pain and suffering from being tortured for probably hours took a toll on you. “What the fuck are you doing?” The deep voice asked. “We never said you could stand up.” He now held the axe in his hand, swinging it at your body and hitting you with the back end. The sturdy wood collided with your spine and cracked it at the base. You let out a pained scream and fell to your knees, tears falling down besides you.
That was the final straw for Leon to give in. You could hear his static voice in the distance, not sure if you were just imagining it at this point. You couldn't understand what he was saying, but your torturers seemed to be pleased with his answer. He gave them whatever it was that they wanted.
“That’s a wrap folks. They are all yours.” The deep voice stated as they put their phone away into their back pocket, followed by multiple loud steps fading in the room and a slam of a metal door.
“Did you hear that?” The female torturer asked. You tried your best to nod your head but you were exhausted and also on the brink of death. “You’re all mine now.” She protected her hands in standard medical gloves, pristine and clean when in comparison to the room the two of you were in. “I’ve been trying to get a volunteer for this for a while now.” She chatted away, explaining to you what she was about to do to you. You tried your best to pay attention. “Now.. I’ve never done this kind of experiment before myself, only heard stories and read articles… so, any last words?” The duct tape was painfully taken off of your mouth.
“Fuck you, bitch.” You said with the last strength you had and a raspy, pain-filled voice.
Without another word a sharp needle was jabbed into your neck, administering a sedative into your bloodstream. Shortly after your body turned limp and it was lifted onto a somewhat clean table you haven't noticed before, ready for whatever this woman had planned for you.
Leon slammed his fist on the table before him, making him the center of attention.
Chris was the first to turn to him and raise an eyebrow. “Leon, what's going on?” He walked around the long table and stood beside him. Leon pointed at the screen before him. “Connection to host stopped. He got what he wanted and-”
“HQ wants us to use the code name Royal. No real names allowed for the hostage, Kennedy otherwise we’re all in trouble.” Daisy interrupted.
“Royal... is still there and who knows what will happen to them now.” Leon was on a lot of missions before, he always stayed calm, no matter what happened. But it was different now. You were in danger and he couldn’t stop thinking about the things those people would do to you without the cameras on. He looked over to Angel, who was sitting on a seperate laptop, typing and clicking around. “Did you find anything yet? A location, a name, anything?”
Without looking up she shook her head. “Nothing yet, it won't be easy now that the connection is gone, too. I’m trying my best here, Leon, but these people are good at what they're doing.” Leon stood up and walked through the room, scratching his head and almost panicking.
Not too long afterwards though it was Daisy who let out a victorious scream. “I got them! Guys, come here. I couldn't get the exact location but there aren't many houses in the area the signal came from. It's an old factory area, most of the buildings were destroyed years ago but I'm sure this is where they are keeping Royal.” Leon felt a wave of adrenaline shooting through his body, giving him new strength. Without having to speak another word all of them grabbed their things. Daisy saved the address she found, Angel got the car while Chris and Leon grabbed all the things they needed. Shortly after, all of them were sitting in the big car on the way to rescue you.
Not much was said in the car other than Chris talking more about the briefing. “Umbrella.” He simply stated. “The Capulet’s are associated with Umbrella, this has to be a trap.”
Leon, Angel, Chris and Daisy were all wearing their gear. They all had a silenced pistol but Leon and Chris also had a silenced shotgun in case something really bad happened. The car was parked at the location Daisy found and now the four of them were looking for any signs of where exactly you were. Daisy used a small drone to scout the area and she managed to track where the most prominent electronic signals came from. Thankfully, it didn't take her too long to find the building you were held in. Chris and Leon searched the main house together while Daisy and Angel looked for any hidden rooms you could perhaps be in. The four of them searched the entire house and finally met back up in the lobby, each with no leads as to your whereabouts. Angel managed to request a floorplan of the compound and she noticed that a room was missing, yet appeared on paper. After heading down to the basement with Daisy and beginning to investigate, the two of them found a secret door. Angel contacted Leon and shortly after he and Chris joined them. Together they opened the secured door with the tools they brought with them and quietly went through it. Behind this door were stairs leading even further underground. Together they went down the steps. After walking all the way down they found themselves in a long and bright hallway with multiple doors and other hallways leading in every direction. Leon took his pistol out of the holster, the others copying him. They communicated through hand signs and split up to cover more ground. All four of them went inside different rooms, keeping their guns ready to fire at all times.
It probably took them around ten minutes until they finally found something helpful. This time it was Angel who went inside another room, almost giving up hope. The room was quite small in comparison to the others but it gave her everything she needed. In this room were multiple screens on the wall, all showing the footage of the cameras in this underground complex. A security office. Instantly she pinged her location and soon Daisy joined her.
“Did you see them on any of these screens? Please tell me we can finally get out of this place.” Daisy said as she stormed into the room, hoping for good news.
Angel however shook her head. “Nothing yet. I have no idea where they could be kept but all these cameras show nothing helpful. I saw Chris, Leon and you, but no sign of Royal’s location.” Angel answered as she typed something into the computer in front of her.
Daisy came over to her and looked at all the data Angel found before. “It seems there are some secured cameras in these coded files. I'm guessing they knew we wouldn't just stay at home and wait for them to return Royal to us. So that's why they probably secured some of the cameras, to stop us from finding them. I can try to get into the system, but it could take some time.” Angel listened carefully and nodded as she stood up from the chair and let Daisy do her work. While she waited for Daisy to get into the files she kept an eye on the screens, making sure that no one would surprise them.
After some time passed again, the screens flickered and different rooms were shown. “Holy shit, Daisy you found them!” Angel pointed at one of the screens. “Can you find out where this room is? Oh my God, what is that woman doing to them..?” Daisy looked up for a second but tried to concentrate, but your silent whimpers of pain made it hard for her. While Daisy was typing, Angel contacted Leon and Chris again and told them about what they found. As soon as Daisy got the route to the room, Leon and Chris practically ran into that direction in hopes to find a way to save you now.
A loud bang made you twitch and open your eyes again. After you were stabbed in the neck with a needle before you passed out almost every few minutes due to the things that were done to your body. Of course the woman wasn't so nice to give you anything to sleep. Even though the main torture was over she still enjoyed seeing you in pain. You slowly tilted your head to the direction the noise was coming from. Due to all the stuff that was injected into your body it was hard to see what was going on and you couldn't understand a word that was said. But you heard multiple people talk and tears started to form again. Maybe you were finally going to be saved. The next thing you heard were gunshots, some closer to you, some a bit more away.
Then silence.
You tried to look around but felt sick and ended up just closing your eyes again, your breathing became slower and slower as you realised you were finally done. You could hear footsteps rushing into your direction, then hands touching your shoulder and arms, probably checking if you were still alive. You couldn't see who was touching you, but you immediately knew who it was anyway. You tried to say something, but were unable to make a sound. All that you felt was dried blood and tears on your face. Even though you weren't really seeing or hearing anything you felt the panicked emotions in the room.
You heard talking and steps and then suddenly another needle was injected into your arm. You were unsure if it was all the medicine from before, but it didn't even hurt this time. Slowly you were able to understand the words that were spoken around you again, not really loud but at least you understood. Also your eyesight was finally becoming normal again, making you see more than just silhouettes and colors. Just now you realized you weren't on the operating table anymore, but laying on the ground besides it. Right next to you was Leon, holding your hands and looking sadder than you have ever seen him before. He barely even looked like himself, his hair was flat and his face was bloody. Carefully you lifted one of your arms and shakily touched his cheeks, leaving your red handprint on his face. It was as if your touch brought him back to reality since he let out a deep breath and now even his eyes were filled with tears. He instantly grabbed your hand, careful not to hurt you at all and kissed it. “I’m here. I’m here now, Buttercup. Nobody will hurt you again, you’re safe now.” Leon said with a tired voice, making you realize how much he was worried. You tried to speak, but still were unable to let out a real word. “Shh.. It's alright. You don't have to say anything, okay? We’re gonna bring you out of this shithole and I won’t leave your side again, you hear me? I’m going to pick you up now and bring you to a place where we can care for you. Do you think you can stay awake for me? I know it's not easy for you right now, but you can't give up now, Buttercup.” You gave Leon a light nod, allowing him to pick you up carefully and get you out of this place.
You tried your best to stay awake as Leon lifted you through the building. The bright lights outside your torture room hurt your eyes making you turn your head into Leon’s chest. You felt his arms tightening around your body, keeping you as close as possible as he went all the way back to the car. Thankfully, there were no other people here anymore, but Leon was always ready to grab his pistol and fire. As you reached the stairs he carefully stepped on them, making sure not to hurt you in any way. As he got to the small door they all went through before, he stopped. It was difficult to get you and himself through it without hurting you. “Okay, Buttercup, listen to me. I’ll get us out of here but this part might suck. I´ll try my best to get you out without hurting you, but I can't promise anything.” You gave him a small nod as an answer, reassuring him that you would not be mad at him or anything. Leon lifted one of his arms to open the small door and then carefully lifted you to the other side. You felt how caring he was and how afraid of hurting you in any way, but real pain never hit you. Before you could realize it you and Leon were on the other side, inside an old building. Leon stood up again and almost ran out of the building and to the car with you in his arms. It was already dark when you finally got to breathe fresh air. The moon was shining in his full form and the stars seemed like they would watch over you. Leon quickly opened the back of the car, where you could see multiple weapons but also a small mattress on one side. He carefully got inside with you and slowly put you down on it. The mattress was quite comfortable and you instantly felt your body relax. The car moved once more as Leon sat down beside you, holding your hand in his and scanning over your body. He carefully brushed some of your bloody hair out of your face and looked at you. “I am so sorry.. I shouldn't have left and let you go back to the hotel all alone. This wouldn't have happened if I just weren´t so stupid. I don't know what I should do, Buttercup..” You never heard Leon talk like this and it broke your heart. You lightly shook your head and tried to speak up. Leon noticed and wanted you to stop, but after some tries you finally were able to speak with a raspy and low voice. “Not..your fault..glad, you came..”, were the only words that you were able to bring out before starting to cough heavily. Sharp pain shot through your entire body and you whimpered. It was only at this moment that you were able to see Leon's face in the car light and you noticed the blood that it was covered in. You slowly lifted your arm to touch his cheeks and felt the blood on your fingertips. It was still fresh.
Leon noticed your expression change and put your hand down again. “Don’t worry about this, I made sure that nobody would hurt you again. I’m fine and the most important thing is that you are safe now, too.” Leon’s hands went over your body and stopped at your right leg. The wound that was caused by the axe before was already put into a bandage to stop the bleeding as soon as the four of them found you, but it already was completely bled through. Leon turned around and grabbed something before opening the bandage carefully. You let out a pained noise but allowed him to continue. Since you were laying down you didn’t see what Leon was doing, but you felt his hands on your leg and therefore were able to assume what exactly he was doing. “The wound is too deep. A bandage alone won't stop the bleeding. I’m going to disinfect it and then I’ll have to stitch it together, alright?” You nodded again and then saw Leon searching for some things before putting some alcohol on the wound. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as much as you thought. It was probably the medicine that was given to you before you were experimented on. You then heard some other rustling and soon Leon was working on the big wound on your leg. He was telling you exactly what he was doing, which definitely calmed you down. A few minutes passed before he let out a relieved sigh and leaned back. “All done. I’m going to put another bandage around it now but the bleeding should stop. And as soon as we’re out of this place Daisy will take another look at all your wounds and take care of you, alright?” A nod from your side again. After that Leon put a bandage around your leg and got rid of all the things he used before. He then lay down on the ground beside you, taking your hand again and kissing it. You smiled as you felt his warmth so close to you and you were glad to be beside him again. Now you would just have to wait for the others to join you and get out of this crazy place.
Chris, Daisy and Angel all stayed behind, taking evidence from the crime scene. Chris gave himself the witten analysis and overall overseer duty. He had to make sure that Angel and Daisy were doing their jobs correctly. Angel was placed on DNA duty, much to her demise, she prefers doing the written analysis. She equipped herself with some medical gloves and safety goggles and then began to collect evidence. Fingerprints, hair follicles, dead skin cells, anything that could prove useful to them later on. Daisy had her camera and various technological equipment doddle across the room. She took pictures of bodies, various files and anything that could prove useful to them later on. The first thing she began to evaluate was the body of Leona Capulet. Although they have already done some research on the woman they still didn’t know everything about her, but now they would. “Mid sixties, seems to have some kind of skin condition?” Daisy muttered to herself as she jotted down notes on her tablet. Daisy placed a pair of latex gloves and picked up Leona’s hand, analysing her skin. “I’ve never seen anything like this before… Chris!” She called out to get his attention. Leona’s wrists were blackened and bruised, almost as if she previously was wearing restraints. “Oh and look!” Daisy lifted her arm even further, being careful to not accidentally rip the limb off. “A tattoo? Undici?” Chris looked through the index he had in his hand and turned to Leona’s page, where they had a recent photograph taken by a private investigator.
“Leona doesn't have any tattoos.” Chris swore at himself as he slammed the index on the bloody surgery table. “This isn't Leona, it's a fake.”
Angel instantly began to collect some DNA of this mystery woman. Blood samples and a swap collection were placed into evidence satchules and then finally placed into the duffle bag that she had on her back. “I’ll get these back to you asap, Chris. Need anything else while I'm here or am I called off?” She asked.
“You’re done, Angel. Daisy, finish up with your pictures and let's get out of here. I’ve already called for another crew to take another look, catch anything we might have missed.” As Chris gave his paper’s to Angel the three of them heard a crash behind the concrete wall. The three of them instantly pulled their pistols out of the holsters and all stood back to back, realising that the real Leona might still be here. They tried to find a way out other than the way they came in. Leona must have a secret exit behind that wall.

Chapter 8: Alone
You woke up early the next morning. The sun shone through the big window next to your bed and warmed your skin. You slowly opened your eyes and looked over to Leon. His breathing was calm so you figured he was still sleeping. You made sure to get up quietly, making sure not to wake Leon up.
You went to the bathroom to have a quick shower and change into something nice to wear. Since the weather was good you chose a white polo shirt and some shorts. After brushing your teeth and styling your hair you went back to the bedroom and sat down on Leon‘s side. You brushed some hair out of his face and placed a kiss on his forehead. You felt him move and he slowly opened his eyes. “Good morning, Sleepy. I hope you don't mind me waking you up.” Leon covered his eyes with his arms to prevent the sun from shining in his face. He didn't answer you but instead grabbed your wrist and pulled you into his arms. You chuckled lightly as he hid his head in your chest, reminding you of a little kid. You two lay there for a few more minutes before you sat up again next to him. “Come on now, Leon. You wanted to go out to eat breakfast, right? So get up!” You turned around to see him lying on his stomach and hiding under the blanket. You shook your head and laughed as you began pushing him out of the bed until the thud of him falling on the floor was heard, followed by subtle laughter. Moments later Leon lay on the ground beside the bed looking as tired as ever. You were laughing too hard so you didn't even hear him standing up and grabbing a pillow from the bed. The next thing you felt was the soft cushion hitting your face, stopping your laughing. You looked at Leon surprised and opened your mouth to say something but before you had the chance to, another pillow was thrown into your direction. You stood up from the bed and grabbed the two pillows Leon threw at you before. Instead of throwing them at him though, you ran around the bed and started hitting Leon with them. Leon was able to take one of the pillows out of your hand and tried defending himself. At some point you two were laughing too hard and didn't have the strength to continue fighting anymore. You lay on the bed together, legs hanging from the side. You turned and looked at Leon who was now also looking at you. “I love you, Leon.” You said with a smile on your face without even thinking twice about it. Leon looked at you surprised before saying it back after a short moment. He kissed you on the cheek before finally standing up and going to the bathroom. You let out a deep sigh as he closed the door behind him and closed your eyes for a second. You then decided to clean up the mess the two of you created and put the pillows and blanket into the bed again. After you were done you grabbed your phone and fixed your hair again. You didn't have to wait long before Leon came out of the bathroom. He was wearing some dark jeans and a light blue button up. His hair was also looking as perfect as ever, no signs of the pillow fight from before. You grinned at him as you stood up.
“Ready to leave, Buttercup?” He asked as he grabbed his wallet and his fancy sunglasses. You nodded as you put on some sneakers and put your phone in your pocket.
You realized you didn't bring sunglasses so you looked at Leon and pointed at his pair. “You don't have another pair of sunglasses by any chance, do you?”
Leon let out a small laugh and shook his head. “You didn't bring your own? Give me a second, I think I actually have another pair.” He turned around and went over to his suitcase to look for them. A few minutes later he came back to you and handed you some fancy looking round sunglasses. You thanked him as you put them on and opened the door. You two left the room together and walked the long hallway to the front door.
As you left the building the morning sun was already hot and warmed your skin. You took a deep breath as you looked around the front yard.
Your face went back to Leon as you heard him unwrapping a piece of paper. As it turns out it was a map of the city, which made you laugh. “A map? Really Leon? You know we both have working phones, right? If you wanna go somewhere I can just look it up online.”
You went to grab your phone out of your pocket but Leon stopped you. “I want this day to be phone free. I just want to enjoy the time with you. And also using this map feels more like a vacation, don't you think?”
You let out a small laugh again as you nodded and put your phone back. “Alright, whatever you say, Mr. Kennedy.” Leon also smiled now and soon after began walking into one direction. You quickly followed and put your hand in his to keep up.
Leon led you through the streets and as the day started more and more people filled the streets around you. He ended up leading you to a small bakery and brought you to a small table outside. It felt like you had been walking for days when realistically it was only a few hours. “Perhaps some breakfast will help you walk a bit faster?” Leon chuckled as he poked at your slow walking pace.
You rolled your eyes as you sat down at one of the tables outside of the bakery. “Not all of us are superstar athletes, Leon.” He still continued his laugh as he sat down too. “Oooo! Pastries!” You got excited at the selection of foods available, back home it would always be quickly bought junk food as neither you nor your roommate had time to cook.
“You like pastry?” Leon looked up from the menu. “You could have just asked Angel if that's what you ever wanted, we would have bought it specifically for you.”
Your face went hot from the embarrassment. “Oh please no, I’m honestly so grateful when Angel cooks for me, I don't want her to think I’m taking advantage by ordering something specific…”
“How about I ask then?” He smirked as he then looked back down at the menu. “I think I'm going to go for the brioche and some coffee.” He announced as he then tucked his menu back to where he found it.
You smiled at him as you began to read out what you were struggling to pick from. "I’m not sure if I want to go with the pain au chocolat or the cornetto…”
“Well the first one is actually French so that depends on if you want to stick to italian foods or not, but personally…” He scratched the back of his head. “I think both.”
“Both?” You flurried your eyebrows. “I’m not that hungry Leon, a-and these are expensive! Twelve euros for a coffee?!” You whisper-shouted for the last part, sure they were extortionate prices but maybe it was worth it?
“Really, Buttercup? You do realise that money isn’t an issue, right?” He smirked.
“I just feel guilty spending your money, that’s all..”
“Trust me, Buttercup. I like seeing yo-”
“Buongiorno!” A small woman exited the front of the bakery with a notepad and a pen in her hand. “What can I get for the two of you?” She asked as she looked at Leon so he went first.
“Would I be able to get the brioche and a shot of espresso?” He asked politely as he gave her his million dollar smile.
“And for the compagno?” She asked as she wrote down Leon’s order.
Just as you were about to state your order Leon did it for you. “They’ll have both the pain au chocolat and the cornetto, with a moka coffee please.” Leon then turned his head to smile at you as you chuckled and smiled back. The waitress nodded her head and then went back into the bakery, preparing your food. “Now you get to try them both.”
“I have had them both before, you know…” You shook your head at him.
“Oh… Well now you get to try them… Italian style!” He smiled again as he dramatically waved his hands, emphasising the ‘Italian style.’ You simply rolled your eyes at him and smiled. The two of you waited quite a while for your food but it didn't annoy either of you as it simply meant that it was being made fresh for you, besides it also gave you time to look at the view of both the ocean and Leon. Considering you never left the US and you stayed landlocked you've never actually seen the ocean before, sure you saw big lakes and stuff but this was so much more intense. Not only was it humongous it was almost crystal clear. “How about we go snorkeling or something once I'm back?” Leon suggested.
“I would love that.” You nodded your head and just as you answered your waitress came over with your dishes and drinks. You simply squealed to yourself as your senses engulfed the food that sat before you, not even stopping to talk to Leon once. Eventually you looked up at him and you noticed he was simply smiling at you, lost in his thoughts as he watched you eat. “Leon?” You lightly waved at him and you raised your eyebrow.
He then snapped back to reality. “Sorry, just thinking about how at first you said you weren't very hungry.” He chuckled as he took a bite out of his own food.
“I guess pastries just do something to me?” You replied to him as you went back to eating your food. Leon simply took his time, he slowly drank his coffee and ate his bread as he looked at both you and the view on his left.
“Much different than the view at home. Here we get flowers, the ocean and beautiful trees, whereas at home we get a jungle… a concrete jungle..”
“How about in twenty years time when you retire, just move to Italy?” You joked at him in response to his little monologue about the different landscapes. “You can get a beautiful little villa on the mountain side that looks over the ocean, all you would need is three kids and a beautiful wife so that you can have the american, nuclear-family, dream.” You copied his hand gesture from earlier and chuckled.
“How would that be the american dream if i'm living in Italy?” He questioned as he placed his empty cup on the metal table.
“That was what stuck out to you about that entire bit?” You raised your eyebrow at him as you wiped your hands with your napkin. “Are you not going to eat your food?” You asked him as you looked down at his plate, him only being about halfway through.
“Sorry, sorry.” He picked up a piece. “I just wanted to take my time so we could be together longer. Just before we got here I got a text from Chris saying I had to meet him after we ate, thought I could drag it out as much as possible.” As he spoke he held out his free hand on the table, wanting you to place your hand in his. Obviously you accepted and he lightly squeezed it. You let him continue eating his food as the two of you sat in comfortable silence until the waitress came and collected the dirty dishes, replacing them with two new coffees for the two of you.
You took another sip from your mug as you noticed how Leon's eyes scanned the area and he seemed to be deep in his thoughts again. You put your mug on the table again and searched his eyes. He didn't notice you staring and only reacted when you mentioned his name. "Leon? You still there?" You snapped your fingers in front of him, making sure he was listening.
Leon turned his head and faced you. "Oh, sorry Buttercup. Did you say anything?"
You shook your head in response before talking again. "I'm worried about you, Leon. Even though we're here together, you seem so far away. Are you really okay?" You looked at him with puppy eyes and reached out to his hand. He just shook his head and looked away again. You sighed and felt hopeless. It was the first time Leon took you with him on a big mission, so of course you were worried. You always were when he was away, even though it wasn't the first time for him to do this stuff. Whatever it really was that he was doing now.
"Leon, please don't do this now. Tell me what's going on, maybe I can help you, distract you or whatever. Anything to help you, okay?" It took Leon a minute before finally giving it. He sighed as he rubbed his forehead.
"It's just.. this mission is different. I didn't get much information beforehand and I don't know. Something feels odd. And now that you're here, too, I'm just.. worried about you. Maybe it was the wrong idea to bring you with me." He said the last sentence more to himself than you, but you still understood every word of it. Even though he probably didn't mean it like that, you felt hurt. Did he think you were a helpless child who would only cause trouble? You didn't really know what to say but you had to do something about his mood.
"Leon. Listen to me. I don't know what you do all the time when you're gone, but you always manage. I'm sure everything will turn out fine, alright? And you don't have to worry about me. I'll stay inside the hotel or around your big bodyguards, I'm sure they could take care of tons of bad guys." You gave Leon an optimistic smile, hoping he would lighten up a bit.
"Yea, you're right. I guess. I just never.. had someone close to me in this kind of situation."
"Everything that matters now is that you're concentrated, Leon. If it helps you can tell me the information you already have, maybe we can work on this together. And who knows, maybe I'll end up being a better agent than you." You jokingly said and finally Leon let out a laugh as well. As you waited for his response you saw a pen on the table behind Leon so you ran to grab it, getting ready to write your notes on a clean napkin.
"Yea sure, whatever you say, Buttercup." You two continued joking for a while longer before ordering something else to drink. As the drinks were delivered to your table, you noticed someone sitting at a table close to you. You didn't know why exactly he caught your eye so you shrugged it off and continued talking to Leon. Soon he began talking about his mission and all the information he had. Which was, as he said before, really not much. All he knew was that someone in this city intended to initiate a virus-breakout similar to ones Leon had to fight before. You wrote down what he said but it wasn't really the equivalent to much. You sighed as you tried your best to help him out. Sure, he was a professional, but it was worth a shot. Especially if you could make him smile with your stupid ideas. In the end that's all that mattered to you, anyways.
You two continued chatting a while longer before Leon's phone suddenly rang. He excused himself, showing you who called. Chris. Leon stood up and left the table to talk to him in a more quiet place. You watched him walk away as you noticed the man from before staring at you again. He seemed to have seen you noticing since he suddenly looked away. You raised an eyebrow, a bad feeling growing in your stomach. Even though you were worried slightly, you didn't want to tell Leon. Maybe you were just starting to imagine things and you didn't want to make Leon worry any more. Speaking of him, he finally returned to the table. He didn't seem too happy though, so you knew what was coming next.
"Chris is already waiting for me. I guess I really tested his patience today. I'm sorry that it has to end so abruptly, Buttercup, but I really have to go now. We have new information and it seems like quite a big deal." Leon grabbed his wallet and handed it to you. "Get yourself something nice with it if you want. And don't forget to pay for our breakfast. I really need to go now, please be careful on your way home." He gave you a kiss on the forehead but you stopped him before he went to leave. "I love you, Leon. Don't worry about me and please come back soon.." He nodded lightly and gave you another kiss, this time on the mouth. You didn't want this moment to end but you knew there was no other option. You watched him leave and suddenly felt so alone and lost. Sitting down again you waited for someone to bring you the bill.
A few minutes passed until someone came over to your table, grabbing the last dirty cups. You asked them for the bill and after paying a ridiculous high amount of money for breakfast you left the table and went back to the main street. You sighed as you thought about what to do for the rest of the day since it was still not that late. With no destination in mind you just started following the street and seeing where it would take you.
Leon carefully closed the door behind him as he was escorted into the home. “Couldn’t have picked a basic home?” He shrugged as he looked over at Chris who was sitting at a table in the kitchen. “This mansion is fucking huge.”
“The fuck you mean?” He snarled at Leon as he pushed back the chair adjacent to him for Leon to sit in. “We’re in an upper class neighbourhood, it blends in.”
“Where’s Angel and Daisy?” Leon asked as he sat down in the chair and gestured at the two empty ones opposite him.
“Miss Badawi and Miss Chu are doing some recon.” He passed over a singular folder and Leon opened it to the first page.
“You call me by my first name, why not those two?” He always thought it was weird but now that it was just those two alone he actually was able to ask.
“Neither of them have passed the required rank for me to call them my equal, meaning they haven’t deserved the right yet."
“They’ve both saved your life countless times-”
“-Oh please! You think we care about validation from some old white man?” Angel laughed as both her and Daisy entered the room and sat down at the table.
Now that all three of them were sitting opposite Chris he could begin his briefing.
“We’re going to be heading to a small provenance called Valtorta, there’s no such thing as tourists there which means this is a stealth operation. Miss Chu, your favourite.” Daisy smiled and lightly clapped her hands together as she heard about the standards of the operation.
Angel raised her hand. “Miss Badawi?” Chris accepted.
“Where is Valtora?” She asked.
“Near the border of Italy and Switzerland.” He replied as he flicked Angel’s folder to the map page. “Around a two hour drive from Milan which is where we’re going to be starting after a three hour helicopter ride. Which means a five hour trip so that you kids can catch up on your podcasts or whatever it is that you guys do nowadays.”
“I’ve been listening to this really interesting podcast about a woman who kills her boss because he didn't give her a payrise… Pretty inspiring if you ask me.” Angel smirked as she looked towards her boss, Leon.
“Depends on how good you do after this operation, and if you can get some pastries for us to bring back home.” He replied as he looked up from the folder and at Angel.
“I think that’s a very fair trade, croissants for an extra one hundred percent markup on your pay?” Daisy smirked at her girlfriend.
“How about we focus on our jobs rather than the pay?” Chris interrupted them. “So the woman we’re looking for is Leona Capulet.” He placed a photo of the woman holding a small child onto the wooden table. “Forty five, six foot tall and batshit crazy.” He then placed another photo on the table. “For the last four years she’s been attempting to recreate another virus, called the LC-020-Virus. Ever since we found out about it we’ve been calling it the ‘Loco-virus’.”
“Let me guess…” Angel interrupted. “Rather than it turning you into a zombie it just makes you go crazy?”
“Bingo.” Chris nodded as he placed another picture on the table. “Blueprints of the town, and the suspected laboratory Capulet has been working in.”
“How have you got so much information?” Leon asked.
“Inside man.” Chris replied. “Capulet’s son, Valentino, has been helping us. Once his mother tried to use him for a human trial experiment he had enough and tried to shut her down. After failing he turned himself in and he’s been helping us for around four months now.”
“And you trust him?” Daisy asked as she looked at the picture of Leona. “How do we know it isn’t a trap?”
“The boy is a millionaire and he gets nothing out of betraying his family, it's personal to him.” Chris picked up his pictures from the table and placed them back into his folder. “But that doesn’t mean we can fully trust him, we all need to stay vigilant.” Chris stood out of his chair and tucked it under the table. “Our mission is to capture the target Leona Capulet, destroy any trace she has of the virus and figure out where her funding comes from. Any questions?” All three of them nodded their heads as they looked at Chris. “Great. We’re heading out at nine A.M. tomorrow morning, I expect everyone to be ready with a maximum of two standard issue duffle bags with the essentials needed for the maximum of two weeks.”
“A fortnight?” Leon asked. “I was told only three days.”
“A maximum Leon, just in case. If we all work well enough we can be back here within two days so let's all get some sleep so we can make that happen.” Chris left the three of them at the table. Angel and Daisy just began chatting amongst themselves about what they were going to do once they were back and could enjoy their time together in the countryside, whereas Leon was thinking about you. He pulled out his phone and called your number but to his surprise you didn’t answer, he looked at the time and saw that it was around seven at night so he thought that maybe you were in the shower, at home you usually showered at that time. So rather than calling you again he simply sent you a text message.
‘Done with work for the night so give me a call when you can. Leon <3’
The sun began setting as you felt your stomach growl. You've been walking around for so many hours, you didn't even think about stopping somewhere to eat or drink anything. Thankfully, you weren't somewhere in the woods but rather close to the city. Your phone battery died a while ago, so you didn't have a chance to just google where to go now or call a taxi. "I should have taken the map from Leon earlier." You muttered to yourself as you scratched the back of your head. Instead of giving up though you tried to follow the signs all around the streets. Most of them were in Italian but you still managed to find your way back.
Even though it wasn't that late, or so you assumed since it was not dark yet, there weren't many people outside. You hoped to find a store to get something to eat and drink and maybe ask for the time or your current location but it felt like you were going in circles and as the time passed you felt really tired. Suddenly everything felt like too much and you had to sit down. You almost fell to the ground, feeling the effects of not eating or drinking for a few hours in the heat. Your head was spinning and your vision blurred and you just barely saw a silhouette walking in your direction. You rubbed your eyes in hope of seeing clearly again. A young man stood before you, reaching a hand out. He soon seemed to notice that you didn't understand what he was saying, so he repeated himself in English. "Are you okay? You look really pale and I'm assuming you're not from here, right?" You slowly nodded your head and tried forming words in your mouth.
"Water.. Do you have water?", was all that came out in the end. The man let out a small laugh and nodded. He pointed towards a house just on the opposite side of the street before helping you get up.
"That's where I live. There aren't any stores open around here so that's all I can get offer now. If you feel comfortable with it you can rest a while before continuing your way."
You looked at the man and thanked him as he supported you walking. The two of you slowly walked towards his house and you waited in silence as he opened the door for you. You walked inside the small house and looked around. It was something completely different from the hotel you slept in last night, but it seemed very friendly. The man led you into the living room and you sat down on the old couch. He left the room to get you something to drink and shortly after returned with a coke, a bottle of water and some cold lasagna.
"This was my dinner today. I'm guessing you are hungry, the way you look. Please eat as much as you like." He went over to a cabinet and got a plate, a fork and a knife. He placed it on the small table in front of the couch as you gulped down the coke. You already felt better as the sugar spread through your body.
"Thank you so much. Where I come from most people wouldn't care for strangers, like you're doing right now. I don't know how I can repay you." You said as you put down the can and took a piece of the lasagna. The man put up his hands and shook his head. "Oh please, don't worry about it. This is nothing, I'm just glad to be helping." You smiled at him in return and enjoyed the rest of the lasagna in silence as your body finally regained strength. After you were done you leaned back on the sofa and sighed. "Now that was a really good lasagna. I definitely need the recipe!" You said jokingly and the two of you laughed.
You two talked for a while longer before you noticed the time on a clock hanging on the wall. It was almost 11pm. You opened your eyes in shock and stood up abruptly. "It's so late already?! I'm so sorry, but I think I really need to go. Please, if there is any way to thank you, tell me." The man now also stood up and walked you to the front door. "Like I said before, I don't want anything in return. I'm just grateful to be of help." You smiled at him and went for a hug. It just felt right at that moment. He returned the gesture but you soon parted again. You unlocked your now almost fully loaded phone and checked the route to the hotel.
"Thanks for letting my phone charge as well, I don't think I would ever find my way back without it." You laughed as you stepped outside. By now the moon was shining high in the sky, making the night light up.
"If I'm not mistaken your way back shouldn't be too long. Please text me when you're back so I don't have to worry." The man said as handed you a piece of paper with his number. You smiled as you added him to your contacts.
"Oh, I don't think I've gotten your name, did I?" Now it was his time to laugh. "That's right, I believe. My name's Leonardo." You couldn't believe what you were hearing and let out a laugh. "No way. That's kind of a funny coincidence, my boyfriend is actually called Leon."
"Oh, well.. That really is a funny coincidence." Leonardo scratched his head as you two laughed again.
"Well, it was nice meeting you Leonardo, but I really have to go now. Maybe our paths will cross again." You waved him goodbye as you put in your earphones and followed the route that was presented on your display.
As you followed the instructions you felt like you were being watched. You looked around, not seeing anyone. Shaking your head you began walking faster, the feeling of being watched never vanishing. Just when you thought the feeling of being watched had gone you heard some footsteps behind you. You slowly pulled out your earphones and looked back. Nobody. "Jesus.. What is wrong with me?" You could already see the tall building you left earlier this day and felt relieved. Only a few more minutes and you were safe. From whatever it was that you felt afraid of. Not realizing you started walking faster again you suddenly tripped and fell to the ground, your phone sliding away. "Fuck.." You rubbed your knee and felt blood on your fingertips in return. You stood up with a pain filled groan and slowly went over to your phone. Just before you were able to reach it something hard hit the back of your head, sending you in a realm of darkness...

Chapter 7: The Journey
The next morning arrived as you packed the last things you thought you needed. Leon didn't actually tell you how long you would be away for, but you made sure to bring enough stuff if it was for say a week and besides you could always buy stuff while you were out there. It was the first time you ever left the country and you were really excited to go on a “vacation” with Leon, even though you knew this wasn't really one.
You didn't bother eating anything since it was still very early, the sun barely even shining yet, but it was also due to the nerves of flying. Now you were waiting for Leon to come pick you up. You couldn't even stand still while waiting so you went through and checked that you locked all of the doors, checking if everything was ready and the house to be left alone. Just as you went for another round the doorbell finally rang. Almost running your suitcase over, you went to open it. Before you stood Leon, looking just as tired as you but greeting you with a smile nevertheless. “Everything ready to go?” he asked, looking inside your home and pointing at the luggage.
You simply nodded and went to grab a backpack and another bag. “Would you mind taking the suitcase? I don't think I can hold any more stuff.” You lifted your arms showing Leon all the things you held. Leon gave you a smile and nodded and went to grab the big suitcase which stood behind you.
The two of you then went out of the apartment and you made sure to have everything you needed before locking the final door behind you. After that Leon showed you the way to the already waiting car. Next to it stood two tall men dressed in all black suits and wearing sunglasses. “Don’t worry about them, they look scarier than they are.” Leon winked at you as you continued your way. When you arrived at the big car one of the men went to grab the stuff you were carrying and put it in the car before opening the backdoor for you. You thanked him quietly as you sat down and he closed the door again. You saw Leon talking to the men before he joined you in the backseats as well. The two men then also went into the car, both sitting in front of you and Leon, one of them driving the car. “Try to get some sleep before we arrive at the airport, Buttercup. The time zone change will be hard to get used to, anyway. So try sleeping now or on the flight, alright?” You nodded and went closer to Leon to rest your head on his shoulder. He took your hand in his and you soon felt sleep take over your mind and body.
You felt a light shaking in your body before you slowly opened your eyes. By now the sun was shining and the bright light made you close your eyes again. “Hey, sleepyhead. We gotta get out, try your best to not fall asleep again otherwise you’ll be in the wrong timezone.” You heard Leon chuckle and you opened your eyes again, looking at him tired. You stretched and yawned before fixing your hair and getting ready to go. Leon already left the car and opened the door for you, making sure you wouldn't fall asleep again.
You groaned as you left the car and looked around, the area not looking like an airport at all. You looked at Leon questiongly. “I thought we were driving to an airport, Leon. Where are we? I mean, I have never been to one but this wasn't what I expected.” You motioned your hand to the area you were surrounded by. It looked like you were in the middle of nowhere, the car parking in an open area with no trees, buildings or any life in sight. All you could see was green grass and maybe some rocks. Leon scratched the back of his head. “Yea, I guess there was a change of plans. We can't fly with a normal plane. So now we have to wait for.. let's say a colleague to pick us up with a helicopter and then they’ll be taking us to a different airport. But don’t worry, Buttercup, this stuff sometimes happens. It's no big deal.”
You let out a huff and crossed your arms before your chest. “Alright, whatever you say Leon. As long as we get to Italy somehow I’m not worried.” Leon gave you a light smile before kissing your forehead.
To pass the time you pulled your phone out of your backpocket, scrolling through social media to see the latest trends online. Only a few minutes passed before you began hearing the sound of a helicopter closing in. You looked up towards the sky and you soon saw one coming from the horizon, eventually it slowly began descending down to the four of you. Leon lightly pulled you back a little bit, to make sure you wouldn't fly. Once the helicopter landed and the propellers came to a stop you were able to get in. Leon helped you get up and into it and you sat down. Afterwards Leon joined you, he gave you a pair of pilot headphones and closed the big door on his side. The two suited men also joined you, leaving their car alone in the middle of nowhere. Shortly after you all sat down in the helicopter its engine started again and you rose up to the sky. You gasped due to the sudden sensation and went to hold Leon's hand, surprised by the height you found yourself in. Leon had to laugh at your reaction but soon took you into his arms to calm you down. He wanted to say something but he thought that maybe the two bodyguards wouldn't want to hear such a dirty joke. Leon then mentioned that you should close your eyes to help with the nerves, which you then did. You still don't feel too awake so closing your eyes again, even if just for a short time, sounded like a good idea to you.
It felt like only a few minutes passed but it must have been a few hours, actually. You woke up again after feeling the helicopter landing on the ground again, shaking you awake. You slowly opened your eyes again, looking around. Leon and the others were already ready to leave, whilst you had to fully wake up first. You yawned and stretched before laying your headphones onto your seat after standing up. You then carefully jumped out of the helicopter and looked around. Leon and the men talked and also looked around in the place that finally looked like a real airport although it was still kind of small compared to what you have seen on TV. The sun was shining bright by now, heating up the area and the tarmac that you were standing on. Leon reached a hand out to you. "Come here, Buttercup. Our flight should arrive any minute now. Then we can finally get to Italy. You still wanna do this?"
"Of course I do! I can't wait any longer!" You answered Leon and looked at him excited. He gave you a smile and you put your hand in his. The two of you then walked towards the landing area, the helicopter starting again and soon leaving the place. The men followed you and Leon, both of them carrying your luggage. You didn't have to wait too long out in the sun before a small private plane arrived and stopped on the landing area. The door opened and small stairs invited you inside. Leon let you go in first, following you shortly after. The inside of the plane was very luxurious, but small. Enough for all of you but that's about it. There were two tiny tables next to the windows with some comfortable chairs in front of them. You took a seat and waited for Leon to sit down opposite of you. After he and the other men sat down the door closed again and the plane was ready for take off. "It's gonna be quite the long flight. If you wanna eat or drink anything just let me know. We got enough stuff in here." Leon winked at you and motioned to the back where the storage must be. You nodded as an answer but didn't feel like eating anything yet. You looked out of the window as the plane slowly started moving and soon rose up into the air. It was way more comfortable here than in the helicopter so you weren't as scared as before. You grabbed your backpack and got your phone, earphones and a book out of it. It wasn't much but at least you could pass some time reading or listening to music now.
After reading a few chapters of your book you decided to take a break from it. You looked at Leon who was sitting on the other side of the table, now also asleep. You smiled at him knowing he barely gets any sleep. You decided to lay your book to the side and got out your phone. You put on your earphones and scrolled through your music. Starting a random playlist you looked out the window and enjoyed the view. It was still sunny, only a few clouds in sight. After a few minutes you felt your eyes getting heavier again and soon you fell asleep once more that day.
You opened your eyes and your entire body shivered. “Leon..?” You mumbled as you sat up, you didn’t recognise where you were. Trees and brick walls were all you could see. As you hoisted yourself to your feet you felt a pain sweep through your head.
You stumbled through the grass in an attempt to figure out where you were, the last thing you remember was being on the plane with Leon.
You flinched at every sound you heard, that could be the sound of a bird or the leaves crunching under your feet.
You began to hear the sounds of an engine as you walked and you slowly made your way towards it. You peered your head around the wall and you saw a woman, she had frizzy hair and she was wearing what looked like hiking gear. She must have sensed you as she turned her head towards you. “Oh!” She waved her hand at you, signaling for you to join her. “You must be new around here, I’ve never seen you before.” She said.
You crouched down beside her at the engine. “I- uh. Where are we?”
“Oh, you’re REALLY new around here?” She chuckled, ignoring your question.
“Please, where are we?” You asked again.
“You’re… I'm not exactly sure where we are.” She replied. “But no one likes it here that’s for sure.” As she talked she was continually tampering with the engine, making it rev and spark. “Just make sure you ru-“ she was interrupted by the sound of another woman screaming. “Listen, I don’t have the answers to your questions.” She jumped onto her feet and began to walk away. “Make sure you run. Or you won’t make it out of here alive.”
You were confused on what she meant but by the time you caught up to where she ran she was gone. Unknowing on what to do you just continued with what that woman was previously doing, fiddling with the engine. You played with the wires to create sparks between them. As you did so the lights at the top of the engine began to flicker and the pumps began to speed up, eventually resulting in the engine starting up, resulting in the lights constantly staying lit.
Just as the lights began to light up you felt uneasy, your heart began to pound even though you weren't doing anything to cause it to. You looked around not seeing anything out of the ordinary, but you could hear someone running. Their footsteps got louder and louder, along with your own heartbeat. Unsure about what to do, you just started running without looking back again. It felt like your heart was about to explode as you collisioned with another person. You looked up in shock, recognizing the other person. “Leon! Oh my god, where are we? What is going on?” You asked him, completely out of breath. You looked him up and down, realizing he looked way yonger and was wearing a police uniform.
He just grabbed your arm and started running in another direction. “We don't have time to talk right now. Just go and hide somewhere safe, please.” He let go off your arm and went on running. You stood there, still confused and looked around. Your heartbeat was normal by now but you still felt weird with the whole situation. You slowly started walking around again and at some point you heard a loud bang and saw another of those generators glowing just ahead of you. You walked towards it, hoping to find Leon or the girl from earlier. But the closer you got the faster your heart was racing again. You saw someone running towards you, about your size and wearing a dark jacket. It was too late when you realized they were holding a knife in their hand and you went to turn. You were too slow and felt the knife hit your back. You let out a pained scream before continuing to run. Just when you thought you outrun them, they walked straight into you, sending you to the ground with another painful slash.
You tried crawling away but soon felt the person's grip around you, picking you up with a groan. You started wiggling and hitting them to free yourself from their grip but you failed. The next thing you felt was immense pain in your shoulder and your loud scream filled the area. You looked to your shoulder, seeing rotting metal protruding out of you. The pain was horrible as you tried to get yourself off, without success. You saw something growing around you but thankfully you couldn’t find out what it was because Leon came to pick you from the hook with ease. You groaned as you hit the ground and thanked him. “Didn’t I tell you to hide? This place is dangerous.”
You rubbed your shoulder as you looked at him. “Well, you could have told me what I was supposed to hide from, maybe then I would have! So please tell me what's going on here.”
Leon let out a sigh as he scanned the area and got out some bandages. “We don't really know what this is, but we do know that we have to repair those generators to get out. The person who hurt you is called Legion, they look really similar to us normal people so try to make sure the person you see is not holding a knife. And if they do have a knife: run as fast as you can unless you wanna end up on a hook again. If you get caught two more times you’re.. Well, dead. So try to finish the last two generators with us and get out of here.” While Leon explained the situation he also finished up your wound and you felt better instantly. “Follow me, there is a generator right around here. If we work together it will be done faster.” Leon started walking in one direction and you followed him, making sure the area was safe. The two of you then sat down at one of the generators and started working on it. Until it was finished nothing happened. You two didn't talk and just concentrated on doing your work. But just as the headlights started shining you two felt your heartbeats speeding up again. Leon looked around and then over to you. He motioned to you to go away before he too went into the dark again. Your breath was heavy and you still felt like someone was watching you even though your heartbeat normalized again. You walked around the dark area and looked for any other survivors or a generator to work on. But even after a few minutes you didn't find what you were looking for. Instead your heartbeat began fastening again as you walked by a small cabin. You went inside and looked around. There was no one in sight but your fast heartbeat still frightened you. You could soon hear footsteps outside the building and decided to hide. Thankfully you stood close to a bunch of red lockers, so you went into one quietly. You looked through the small space to make sure nobody came here to hurt you. But it was just your luck that the person who earlier stabbed you now stood in the middle of the shack and looked around. There were two other lockers, so you hoped they would not check the one you were in. The person started moving again, walking past every locker. You held your breath as they walked past yours, hoping they couldn't sense you. But they still stopped in front of it and the next thing you saw were the doors opening and the Legion grabbing you, again. You let out a surprised scream, trying to get away somehow. But there was no chance and so you found yourself on a hook again. You screamed as it pierced through your skin and looked around, hoping someone would come and rescue you. This time it was different though. The things that were forming the first time on the hook were now fully alive and trying to kill you. You used all your strength to keep it away from your body, moaning in pain and exhaustment. Just as you thought you couldn't continue to struggle anymore you felt someone picking you up from the hook. It was a different woman than the one in the beginning. She was wearing a suit and had dark hair. You thanked her as you thought about where you have seen her before. Then it hit you. “Jane? Jane Romero!”
You looked at her in surprise as she gave you a light smile. “Yep, that's me. Sorry I can't give you an autograph right now. We kinda have to get out of here and all.” You were shocked about how calm she was with the situation but followed her lead. There was no time for her to patch your wounds since you once again felt the presence of the Legion. “Go and run! I will distract them, you hear me?” Jane almost pushed you in the other direction and you started running. Your shoulder was still hurting and you couldn't hide your groans of pain. You went looking for Leon or anyone really to help you match the hole in your shoulder and get out of there. The more time passed the more panic filled your entire body. It seemed you were running in circles and no one was there with you anymore. You stopped running at some point and needed a minute to catch your breath. It felt like the whole world was spinning around you and you were brought back to reality too late. A knife found its way into your side, making you gasp. You almost fell over your own feet as you tried gaining some distance, but it was too late. Just a few meters later the knife hit you again, sending you to the ground. You remembered Leon's words about dying on the hook and panicked. You screamed for help but no one came to your rescue this time. But they couldn't have done anything to help, anyway. It was different this time. The Legion didn't come to pick you up and for a second you thought they would let you live. You tried crawling away as you suddenly felt movement behind you again. The Legion barely missed your head as they went for another stab. You turned around to guard yourself, which only ended up in your arm getting pierced. After attempting to push them away you tried to run but tripped and fell to the ground once more. You felt a deep stab in your leg as you were being pulled back to them. You turned around and screamed in agony as they stabbed you one more time, right in the chest. The last thing you felt was the knife gutting you from the chest to stomach and you gave into the darkness surrounding you, freeing you from the immense pain you were in.
You woke up, heavily breathing and covered in sweat. You looked around and pinched yourself to make sure you were actually awake this time. Realizing you were, you let out a relieved sigh. Leon was also awake by now, looking at you confused and raising an eyebrow. "Are you good? You look like you have seen a ghost." You let out a huff.
"Yea, I guess you could say that. I just had the weirdest nightmare…" You rubbed your forehead and looked outside again and then back to Leon. "What time is it? Or well, where are we now and when do we arrive?"
Leon checked his phone. "We're already flying over Italy right now. If everything continues to go so smoothly we should be at the airport in only a few minutes, maybe thirty. So you better get all your stuff and get ready for landing." Leon looked at the table. Your book and phone were laying on it, next to a plate and two glasses. Apparently Leon got hungry when you were asleep. You grabbed one of the glasses and took a big sip, exhausted from the long day and weird dream you just had. After that you put your book and earphones back into your backpack and relaxed the last few minutes in the plane.
Soon after an announcement filled the small area, reminding you to put on your seatbelts and get ready for landing. Just shortly after the announcement you felt the plane hit the ground and then slowing down to get ready to stop. After it came to a complete hold the door opened again and the stairs were ready to be used. You grabbed your stuff and got up with Leon to leave the plane. Outside stood a black car already awaiting you four. The men once again got your luggage and placed it in the car. You opened the back door and sat down, placing your backpack between your legs on the floor of the car. You let out a small sigh and then closed the door. Leon soon joined you and sat down next to you. Just shortly after the motor of the car started and you found yourselves on a highway. Even though it was just now getting dark outside you weren't tired, probably because you slept most of the day anyway. You leaned against the car window and looked outside. You always dreamt about leaving your hometown and seeing the world and Italy was always one of your biggest wishes to visit. So now that you were really here you almost couldn't believe it.
You passed multiple other cars and the scenery seemed to change every few minutes. It was either old looking towns, luxurious houses or fields filled with trees and animals. A smile rested on your face while you were mesmerized by the view. You didn't even realize that Leon was looking at you, smiling as well, until he spoke your name. You were brought back to reality and looked at him confused. “Huh? Did you say anything?” Leon let out a small laugh, shaking his head. “I just wanted to let you know that we will arrive shortly. I hope you like the hotel we got, but it seems you would be fine with anything here.” You two had to laugh about that, but Leon was right: you really liked everything here already and you were quite excited about seeing your hotel and the town.
Just moments later the car stopped in front of a building. As you left the car you let out a gasp. The building you stood before was huge and looked really extravagant and modern, but still had a touch of the typical old italian vibes. You felt an arm resting around your shoulders and looked up. “You like what you see?” Leon asked you.
For a second you were actually speechless. “I mean.. Yea! Definitely! But Leon, you could have told me it would be so luxurious.” You looked down at yourself and then at Leon. “I’m looking like some homeless person you just picked up on your way here while you´re wearing a fancy suit again.”
Leon let out a small laugh and patted your head. “You would be quite a pretty homeless person, Buttercup. I'm glad I picked you up then.” Leon winked at you before continuing to talk. “No, but really. Don’t you worry about that. At least you are wearing something comfortable. There will be more than enough moments where you have to wear something fancy again, alright? No one here will care anyway, they all have their own business to worry about.” You smiled at Leon and then nodded. It was good to be here with him and it was good to know that he supported you when feeling unsure. You grabbed his hand and soon walked into the hotel together. His bodyguards already checked in and showed you the way into your room before going into their own as well. The hallways were long and lots of decorations were on the walls. It felt like forever until you finally reached your room. Leon unlocked the door with his card and you two went inside. The room was just as big as everything else there. A big bed stood at the side next to a huge window, letting you look at the city. There was another door, probably leading to the bathroom. In the main room stood a table with four chairs, a TV with a comfortable looking sofa and more than enough other random things. You threw your backpack onto the sofa and fell into the bed backwards, now looking at the ceiling. Since the walls were so high up you almost didn't see the artwork that was carved into the ceiling. You felt the bed shifting and turned your head to the side. Leon sat down next to you and watched you. “I know you already slept a lot today but you should try to sleep now as well. It can be hard to adjust to the new time here but try your best. I have one free day tomorrow so we can look around the town and have breakfast outside this hotel if you want to.” You sat up and nodded. “Sounds like a great idea. I can't wait to see a bit of the city.” You stretched before standing up and going to your luggage. You searched for something to wear for the night and picked out an outfit for the next day, too. After that you went inside the bathroom and freshened yourself up a bit. You then headed back into bed and waited for Leon to join you.
You kept your eyes staring up at the ceiling as you attempted to go to sleep, Leon must have known that you were struggling. “You alright, Buttercup?” He asked you faintly, trying not to be loud when he was right next to you. You turned your head towards him, you didn't realise how close he was until your noses almost touched.
“I-” You struggled to find the right words. “I’m sad.” You admitted to him, earning a look of confusion from him. “I mean I'm happy for sure! But I'm sad that we’re only going to get a day together then I'm on my own for a while.”
He sighed as he sat up slightly, leaning on his arm as his body was turned towards you. His toned, muscular body, the hair that travels from the waistband of his sweatpants and then up his abs towards his chest. “Buttercup!” He waved his hand in front of your face, snapping you out of your trance. He laughed as he realised what you were staring at. “I’ll be gone for three days, Buttercup. Maybe five max…” He admitted. “Then afterwards this hot bod will be all yours.”
You let out a small laugh as you shook your head and punched him lightly. “I'm just kinda worried about you, I think. I mean, I knew what you were gonna do now, but it's different when I’m so close and yet won't be able to see or do anything with you.” You let out a small sigh as you looked into Leon's eyes.
“Don´t worry so much about me, Buttercup. Try and enjoy your time here, maybe you will even find some new friends, huh? Promise me you won't worry?”
“Promise..”
Leon seemed satisfied with that answer because he didn't say anything else about it. Instead you felt him shifting around and you chuckled at him as he climbed on top of you, kissing your face as he chuckled too, his stubble tickling you, causing you to laugh even more. He kissed you one more time before rolling to his side again. He held your hand as you saw how he closed his eyes. “Try sleeping now, alright? I don't want you to be tired when we have something planned for tomorrow.” You nodded in agreement and closed your eyes. Even though you weren't completely okay with the situation Leon was right: you should be fit for the day you have together tomorrow and try not to worry too much.

Masterlist
Chapter 6: The Bar
“You have to be kidding me right now!” You couldn't believe what you were hearing. “It was the first time I haven’t shown up to work, I always did my job exactly how you wanted me to and this is your thanks? I told you what happened and you don't even care at all! I was literally unconscious and in shock after what occurred that day.” You exclaimed and shook your head, not believing what you were hearing.
“I'm truly sorry, but you know how we handle things here. I'm sure a young and outgoing person like you will find a new job without any problems. We will send you the money for the last days you were working. Now, if you will excuse me, I’ve got a restaurant to take care of.” Your boss, well ex-boss, went through the door and left you standing in his office in disbelief. You picked up all your personal items before then heading to the front door. You looked around once more, thinking about all the years you were working here. You said one last goodbye to your coworkers before heading out the door, leaving this part of your life behind.
You went to your own car - finally having a driver's license after Leon made sure you got your private lessons - ready to drive home. But as you were sitting down you realized that that wasn't what you really wanted. The best thing to do now was to see Leon, so that's exactly where you were going.
You pulled into Leon’s driveway and parked in front of the front door. “I didn’t know you were going to be here today.” Angel greeted you as you stepped out of the car.
“Neither did I.” You answered and walked to the door, letting yourself in. You found Leon in the kitchen and he was leaning over a bottle of whiskey. “Leon?” You raised an eyebrow, thinking it was kind of early to drink but didn't say anything to him.
You must have scared him as he shot up to look at you. He looked rough, his hair was a mess and his grey clothes were stained. “Buttercup!” He smiled as he walked over to you. “I didn’t know you were coming over today, I thought you were at work.” He planted a kiss on your forehead and rubbed your arms.
“I got fired.” You simply blurted out, rather than trying to avoid it. “Since I didn’t go to work that one day last week my boss seriously wasn’t happy.” You lightly waved Leon off of you and sat down at the kitchen counter. “I’ve never missed a day for like three years but one day! One day! Is enough to get me fired.” You placed your head in your hands and groaned.
“Well fuck that guy.” He pulled a cereal box out of a cupboard under the kitchen island and placed it into a bowl.
“Fuck that guy…” You replied. “Now I need to waste the next week of my life trying to find a new job.
Leon finally put some milk into the bowl too. “You’re a college student, you don’t need a full time job.” He placed the bowl in front of you as you looked up at him. “Eat up, Buttercup.”
You looked down at the cereal and you pushed it around with your spoon. “I’m not really hungry, Leon.” You pushed the bowl back towards him and you brushed your hair with your hand. “It’s not that I need a job, I just like having one, it keeps me busy and the extra money never hurts.”
“But wasn’t the pay terrible?” He raised his eyebrow as he began to eat your food. “And super sexual? Your co-worker Mimi told me about how you would unbutton your shirt and wear super tight pants so that the customers would tip you more…”
“True.” You admitted. “So I’ll look for something different. Maybe I can be a personal assistant like Angel and Daisy.”
“They’re more than just assistants y’know.” Leon continued to eat. “Those two have joined me on a job, saved my life once or twice.”
“It’s four in the afternoon, why are you eating cereal?” You eventually asked.
“We don’t have any food, Angel wasn’t able to go shopping this morning.” He said as he placed his empty bowl in the sink. “How about an office job?”
“That’s a bit boring, dontcha think?”
“Umm. How about that internship you were going for?”
“I still have three months left of college, once I'm done with that and I have the grades for it, I can apply.” You admitted as you got off the bar stool, not having eaten any of the food Leon gave you. Leon watched you while you were filling your glass with water and some ice to cool down. You drank it and watched Leon do the same, just with his glass of whiskey. “Isn't it a little too early to drink?” The words left your mouth before you were even thinking about it. Now it was Leon's turn to raise an eyebrow at your comment.
“Are you my mom or what now? I think I know when or when I cannot have a drink.” He snapped at you, which really surprised you.
"Obviously I am not. But that's not really responsible of you, is it? I just don't get it, why you're drinking at this time and so often in general the past weeks." You thought about what you were saying, realizing his drinking behavior dates back to the first time you even met. "I get that your job isn't easy and stuff but day drinking? Really? Seems kind of low to me, Leon."
Leon let out a laugh and shook his head. "If all you want to do now is complain you can leave. That's not what I wanted you here for."
You looked at him again with big eyes. "So you don't wanna talk? I don't know what it is that’s between us, but it can't always be good and fun. I'm literally just worried about your health!"
"Worried? I think I know what's good for me much better than you do, I'm not the child here." He spat at you as he drank from his glass.
"So if you’re not ‘the child’ does that mean that I am?” You looked at him speechless. “That's how you see me? I understand that I'm a lot younger than you but I'm not a child! And just because I'm trying to talk about something serious? What is going on with you Leon?" He didn't even look at you. Instead he poured himself another drink and took a sip. You shook your head and let out a scoff. You then grabbed your jacket and went to the door. Before leaving you looked back to Leon, hoping he would apologize or stop you from leaving, instead you got nothing. You slammed the door behind you shut and you heard something break. “A fucking mansion and his front door cant even handle a slam..” You muttered to yourself as you went over to your car. Angrily you left his driveway and drove in the direction of home.
Your roommate was home for the holidays, leaving you in your apartment alone. Rather than sitting on the couch feeling sorry for yourself you tried to get some work done.
Looking for jobs was much harder than you remember. “Host. Nope. Grocery store worker. Eh, I guess that could work. Stripper?! Hm, if I'm desperate enough, maybe…” You spent hours looking and applying to jobs, most of them being just over minimum wage but any money is better than none.
Eventually you gave up and just began to watch TV on your laptop, endlessly flicking through the channels available to you. Since none of it looked interesting you put on something random and picked up your sketchbook. As the noise played in the background and your pencil ran across the paper your eyelids became heavier and heavier, those combined with the fact that it was now eleven at night.
The sound of your phone vibrating on your wooden desk ripped you from your sleep. At first you ignored it, being far too tired to want to actually open your eyes. It started to vibrate again. You rubbed your eyes, trying to see clearly in the dark and waking yourself up. You looked at your phone confused, wondering who wanted you so late at night. You unlocked it and looked at the time first. “Almost two in the morning... damn”, you muttered to yourself. After that you checked your notification and let out a sigh. Multiple messages from Leon just in the past few hours you were asleep. You didn't even bother looking at them, knowing that he was drunk. Most of the messages didn't even make sense and there was no way to read or understand them. Before locking the phone again, an unknown number called you. Unsure about who it could be, you waited for the call to end. But soon after the same number called again. You let out a sigh, answering the call. "Hello? Can I help you?" You asked tiredly. You didn't recognize the voice talking to you, but you could hear Leon mumbling in the background. The person told you something about Leon being totally wasted and that he requested for you to come and pick him up. Unsure about what to do, especially after the argument you had earlier, you still agreed to picking him up. You ended the call and put your phone away. Putting your head in your hands, you let out another sigh and shook your head. You quickly went to your kitchen and put on a pot of coffee, needing caffeine otherwise you would fall asleep before you even got to Leon.
As you grabbed your jacket, phone and coffee you looked at your car keys and shoved them into your pocket. You knew you couldn’t take your car as you didn’t want to leave it at the bar considering it was twenty miles from home. “Why couldn’t he have gone to a local bar?”
You waited outside in the rain for a taxi to come and pick you up. You’d be sure to charge this cost on Leon’s credit card.
Faint music was in the background as you walked through the door to ‘Billy’s Bar’ and it only took you a second to find Leon. “Buttercup!” He waved and blew a kiss at you the second he spotted you.
“Hey Leon.” You somewhat smiled as you sat down next to him at the bar. “What mess have you gotten yourself into?” You muttered as you waved over the bartender, them giving you the bill. “How can you rack up eighty dollars in one night?”
You searched Leon’s pockets for his wallet but came up empty. “Woah there Buttercup, let’s go home first before you start to pull my pants off.” You simply rolled your eyes at his drunk comment.
You groaned as you gave up the search for his wallet and eventually you just placed your own stack of cash on the bar, giving a little extra for the bartender as a tip. “Come on.” You got off the stool. “Let’s get you home.” Leon got off his stool and he wrapped his arm around your shoulder, giving you a kiss on your forehead. “Jesus Leon, don’t do that…” You wiped the kiss off of you and shook your head as the two of you left the bar and into the pouring rain. “Keys?” You held out your hand and he placed his keys in your palm. The keys to one of his fancy cars that you don't even know the name of but you were pretty sure that it was an Audi of some sort. It had four doors and four wheels, good enough.
“I can drive Butterc- cup.” He hiccuped as he talked, proving just how much he shouldn’t drive.
“I’ll be fine…” You clicked the keys and the lights on the car flashed. You took Leon to the passenger side of the car and forced him off of you as you opened the door for him. He leant on the roof to help himself into his seat and you then closed the door behind him. “Alright, it’s just like my car… just a lot quicker and a lot more expensive…” You mumbled to yourself as you hopped in the driver’s seat and started the engine. The loud roar was enough to make you almost pee yourself due to your nerves.
You gripped your hands on the steering wheel and put the car into drive. The car immediately shot forward and you instantly slammed on the breaks, causing Leon to bash his face on the dashboard. “Oh fuck!” You put the car into park and looked at Leon’s nose. “I’m so sorry.” You carefully brushed your hand on his nose and luckily it didn’t feel as if it was broken.
“I’m fine…” Leon’s eyes rolled back in his head and he leant back in his seat. You simply huffed at him and leant over him, grabbing his seatbelt. As you went back to your seat you sighed at him as you looked at him sleeping.
You buckled your own seatbelt and started the car again, now more carefully. You checked all the buttons and hoped for the best as you left the parking spot slowly. Before you stepped on the gas once more to drive onto the street you looked over to Leon, who was now half asleep. Just sometimes he looked up again or out the window without saying anything. Which was probably better because he wouldn't say anything useful anyway in his state. You drove on the main street and gripped the wheel, concentrating on the dark and rainy road before you. You tried putting on some music but soon shut it off again because it just irritated you. So you just drove around silently trying to find a way to Leon's house. Every now and then Leon muttered something, more to himself than to you. You shook your head blaming yourself for his behavior. Letting out a sigh you concentrated on the road again and silently went on.
You drove for around five minutes before Leon began to get bored. “Buttercup?”
“Hey Leon…” You replied to him, keeping your eyes on the road because you didn’t want to swerve into a ditch.
“You’re the best.” You could see him smile at you in the corner of your eye. He held out his hand and you simply ignored it. Please?” He wiggled his fingers, wanting you to hold his hand. You scoffed as you dropped your right hand from the wheel, placing your hand in his. “I love you, Buttercup.” He smiled at you again but you simply ignored it.
“You’re drunk, Leon.” You took your hand back from him, in annoyance.
You wanted him to say that he loved you, but not like this, not in a drunk slur. “I’m serious.”
"Yea, sure you are." You rolled your eyes and looked straight to the street, not giving him anymore attention.
"You're so mean, Buttercup." He began whining like a little child which made you laugh sarcastically.
"You’re behaving like a child now, Leon. I told you earlier today that it doesn't have anything to do with ages." You shook your head, thinking about the argument from earlier.
"I'm sorryyy..for snapping at you like that earlier.. do you forgive me? Pleaseeee Buttercup.." You raised your eyebrow at his apology, not thinking much of it.
"I can't forgive you when all you do is lie when you’re drunk. Say sorry again when you're sober and we'll see." You felt him moving in his seat, now directly facing you. You gave him a short look and tried pushing him back into his seat. "Leon, please sit down correctly. I can't concentrate like this."
He had a smug smile on his face now. "Am I all you can concentrate on now?" Leon came closer to you and you backed up, now shoving him away with your right hand. The road in front of you was still slippery and dark and you couldn't drive like this. In a short motion you stepped on the brakes and stopped at the side of the street. Now facing Leon as well you tried pushing him back into his own seat, hoping he would leave you alone now. He still resisted and even though he was totally drunk he still was stronger than you. He grabbed your wrists and came closer to you, almost sitting on your lap now. You were able to keep some distance with your legs but it wasn't an easy task. "Buttercuuup.." He began again as he started playing with your fingers. "I'm serious.. I loveee you, since the first time I met you." You looked at him, searching his face. People always say that drunk people speak the truth but a part in you didn't want to believe it. Not because you didn't have feelings for Leon, but this whole situation seemed wrong to you. You realized it wouldn't get you far when arguing in this state so you just let him talk, not giving it much thought. Leon continued talking but he soon noticed you didn't even listen anymore. As soon as he came closer to you again you snapped back to reality.
You unfastened your seatbelt and got out of the car. You walked through the rain to Leon's side of the car and also opened his door. He looked at you confused but didn't say anything. You loosened his seatbelt and almost threw him out of his seat and out the car. He just about caught his balance, looking at you perplexed. You tried finding the right words but didn't even know what you were doing here. Leon leaned on the side of the car, already totally soaking wet. "Leon, I don't know what's going on with you but I can't continue driving when you keep on annoying me like that! So please just shut up or we're gonna stay out here until you're sober again, I don't care!" You shouted towards him, hoping he would even hear you through the loud and heavy rain. You came closer to him again, waiting for an answer. It seemed like hours passed, but Leon didn't say a thing. You groaned and opened the back door. You grabbed Leon's arm and pushed him inside. Overwhelmed by the sudden force, he fell into the backseat taking you with him. So now you lay on top of Leon, both of you totally wet. You felt Leon's warm breath and also the smell of alcohol. You suddenly felt hot and everything around you seemed to stop, all you saw was Leon. He looked you deep in the eyes and you into his. Without even thinking about it, you felt Leon's big hand on the back of your head, pulling you closer to his face. And the next thing you felt were his lips on yours. For a split second you leaned into the kiss, before realizing what was happening. In an instant you shot up and pushed yourself away from Leon. He looked at you, confused and heartbroken. "Leon. Let's just get you home now." You helped him put on a seatbelt without speaking another word and then went back to the driver's seat. The rest of the drive home neither of you spoke a word but every now and then you felt Leon staring at you from the back.
Finally you arrived at his home. Even though it was raining you could still make out the driveway and main door. You didn't bother parking the car in his garage, so you stopped in front of the door. You took the keys and before leaving the car you looked back at Leon. He wasn't asleep. He looked out the window, like most of the time during the ride. It reminded you of a child that wanted to stop at the local McDonald's but his parents didn't want to. You shook your head and tried hiding your smile. After that you left the car and also helped Leon out. Both of you didn't say a word as you walked to the door. Leon's arm was around your back for balance but you didn't mind it. It was better than letting him walk alone and him ending up injuring himself. You opened the front door, which was unlocked to your surprise. Apparently no one in this house thinks it could be possible that a thief would come here to say hello. You took off your own jacket which was totally drenched and hung it up. You then did the same for Leon, without any words exchanging either.
"I should probably get you something dry to wear. You're gonna get sick otherwise." You said more to yourself than to Leon but he still heard you and agreed.
"Let's.. just go upstairs and change there. It doesn't matter if the house gets dirty." Leon already started walking towards the stairs but you soon followed after noticing how he couldn't even walk straight. You then helped him upstairs and you went into the bathroom.
"I'll get you something to sleep in, just.. sit here and don't move. Can you do that for me?" He nodded silently and you left the room. You went into his bedroom and got some pajamas for him and also something for you to wear. As you entered the bathroom you found Leon sitting in the bathtub, naked. Even though you've seen him half naked before this wasn't what you wanted to see. Covering your eyes you threw his pajamas over. Obviously he didn't catch them so now they were lying next to him. "Jesus, Leon. What are you doing? I asked one thing of you and-"
"Sorry, Buttercup.. I just didn't want to freeze." He put his legs closer to him and rested his head on top of them. You shook your head and even though you didn't want to, you had to agree with him. You were also cold and wearing wet clothes didn't help. You sighed and looked at him. "Are you gonna shower by yourself or do you need help?" You felt like his caretaker right now but you also couldn't leave him hanging now. He looked at you with big eyes, which basically begged for you to help him. You sighed once again before walking over to him. You started the shower making sure it was warm enough. It was just a quick way of warming him up, not wanting to spend any more time with a naked and drunk Leon. After you were done you helped him out of the bathtub and put him into a towel. After drying him a little bit you helped him get into his pajamas and walked him into his bedroom. You watched him get into bed and before taking a shower yourself you saw him drifting off into a deep sleep. Closing the door behind you silently you went back into the bathroom and took a shower and changed into some of Leon's clothing. Nothing too special but at least it would keep you warm. After you put all the wet clothes away you went downstairs to try to get some sleep as well. You entered the living room and lay down on the big couch. Just a few minutes later you felt sleep take over and take you into a world of dreams.
You woke up the next morning to Angel's voice. "Hey there. Sorry to wake you up, I just wanted to see you before heading out again." You sat up and stretched, looking at Angel. "Thank you for bringing Leon home. I wasn't home yesterday and.. I'm sorry you had to see him like that." You shook your head, putting a hand on Angel's shoulder.
"Don't apologize for that. It's no big deal.. I think. Does this happen often? He was so.. weird yesterday." You looked down, feeling guilty for snapping at Leon like that yesterday, maybe being the reason for him ending up drunk.
"It's, well, it happened before. He always likes to drink but I'm not sure what's going on to be honest. But don't worry, okay? It has nothing to do with you or anything. Chances are high he's just fed up with work, I don't blame him." You nodded, smiling at Angel now. She then stood up and gave you a small smile before turning to leave. Before leaving though she turned back to you. "I prepared some coffee for you and Leon. Maybe try waking him up. And.. try not to be too mad at him, would you?" She waved to you one more time before leaving the room and soon the house.
You got your two mugs of coffee and you went up the stairs to wake up Leon. As you put your hand on the doorknob you could already hear his snoring so you made sure to be quiet. He laid face up on the bed and his hair was extremely messy, so rather than waking him up like you originally planned you just sat on the chair by the window and drank your coffee. The rain from last night was still just as terrible, if not worse to the point where you couldn't even look out the window, you needed some other source of entertainment. You picked up one of the books that Angel had placed in there as decor and began to read it. It was only a small book, something about a knight in shining armor there to save the princess, just like all the other fairy tales. As you were reaching the end of the book you could hear Leon beginning to stir, his breathing had become a lot lighter and his snoring had stopped, meaning he was pretty much awake now. You took another sip from your coffee and you could see Leon sitting up in bed. He had his hand on his head and you could tell that it was pounding. “Good morning, Sleepyhead.” You gave him a faint smile as you tapped the table, another mug of coffee waiting for Leon.
He groaned as he waved his arm at you, wanting you to bring the coffee to him. At first you just shook your head at him and clicked your tongue but he wouldn't give up, you were too tired to argue about it so you just sat on the side of the bed, your back facing him. “You’re mad."
“You think?” You snapped at him, still looking forward, at the blank wall in front of you.
“I’m sorry, Buttercup.” He sat up properly and shuffled towards you, being careful not to spill his cold coffee. “I was being stupid. I had a bad morning and I just wanted to chill out for the rest of the day, have a nice drink and just relax by the pool or something.”
“Oh so me arriving for a surprise visit, that's what derailed your day?” You turned to face him and you could tell that the two cogs in his brain were working overtime.
“What? No!” He shook his head as he tried to get a grasp on the situation. “I overreacted to you asking about my drinking problem-”
“Oh so now you admit that it's a problem?” You interrupted him, by now your body was fully turnt to him, just by your body language he knew that you were more than just pissed at him.
“It’s always been a problem.” He ran his hands through his hair. “I can try and explain it.” You simply huffed at him, wanting to hear his excuse but still wanting him to know that you're angry. “After Raccoon City I began to get pretty bad nightmares. Like really, really bad nightmares. You can guess why.” You simply nodded at it, feeling guilty now that you got him to explain. “I couldn’t sleep for weeks at a time, so I tried my best to just keep myself busy. Hobbies, people, anything. I would sometimes go out to bars and whatnot and I figured out that after a few drinks I would usually sleep better that night.” He adjusted himself in bed so that he was fully sitting upright, his full attention on you as he talked. “I’ve been doing it for years, Buttercup. It’s just a hobby I guess.”
You didn’t really know what to say. Sure you lived with college kids so you were around drinking fanatics 24/7 but an actual alcoholic? You didn’t have much experience.
“Buttercup, I’ve tried everything.” He leant forward and grabbed your hand, rather than you recoiling like the night before you accepted it and you shuffled yourself closer to him, sitting cross legged next to him on the bed. You hesitated before leaning your head on his shoulder and also grabbing his hand.
"I don't know how I can help, Leon. But you can't continue like this. I.. I didn't recognize you yesterday, you were so different. I don't want to worry about you, when you're out for a drink. I just-" You looked up to him with big eyes, some tears forming inside them. You felt so helpless and even bad for not noticing anything earlier. Leon squeezed your hand.
"Shh.. it's okay, Buttercup. After I met you, I tried to stop drinking, you can even ask Angel. But the nightmares never end. The only time I was able to sleep through the night was.. when you were here and slept next to me. Knowing I wasn't alone, feeling you next to me, it helped me." You blushed and gave him a small smile, but deep down you knew this wouldn't help long-term.
"Even if I stay here to sleep in your bed, you will always want to drink. And I can't be here with you all the time. You need.. we need something else to fix this problem." You took a deep breath. "Leon, I think you need professional help. Like, I don't know, medication to help you sleep?" You looked at him unsure of what you could do to help.
"I tried that before, Buttercup. I swear I tried it many times before but I also fell back into this habit. I can't change it anymore." You shook your head.
"No Leon, stop saying stuff like this. You may have tried before but.. now I'm here. I'll help you. I promise I will not leave your side, we will do this together. We can work in small steps, you hear me? Like.. you always drink your whiskey with ice, right? What about you trying to put in less alcohol and more ice? Step by step? It's worth a shot and this way it isn't cold withdrawal. What do you say?" You looked at him with big eyes, kind of proud of your idea. A small smile rested on Leon's face as he looked at you.
"It's worth a shot. But don't get your hopes up too high. This won't be easy and.. if things don't work out, I don't know who I'll be then."
"Leon. I am not leaving you alone now. We will do this together and no matter what happens, I'll be here. I believe in you." You lay your arms around him and hugged him. You felt his arms around your body and smiled. After a short while you let go of him. Both of you took a sip of your stone cold coffee and sat there in silence, the only sound being the rain outside the house.
You saw Leon fidgeting around and looked at him questioningly. Before you could ask what he was thinking about he began speaking. "You know, uhm, what I said yesterday. I meant it. Sure, I was drunk and all but…", he turned to you. "I love you. I have for a long time now but I didn't know how to say it. But I really do." You looked at Leon with big eyes, shocked that he would bring this topic up again. Unsure of what to say you stood up and walked around the room. Leon's gaze followed you and you felt bad for not saying anything. After walking up and down you finally sat back next to him again. "Leon, I.. I don't know what to say. I mean.. I. God. Leon. I love you. I really do." You let out a small laugh. This whole situation felt so bizarre to you. You saw a big smile growing on Leon's face and you had to return it. He grabbed you by your arm and pulled you to him. You looked each other in the eyes, knowing what both of you needed now. Leon closed the gap between you two and after so long you kissed him. Without being drunk. Just a real and honest kiss, both of you wanting it and knowing it was the right thing. “So what was the bad news that you got yesterday morning?” You asked him as you pulled away.
“I have to go to Italy for a job.” He smirked. “But I think I might drag you along with me, we can have some time together once I'm done with work.” You thought about the offer for a split second before agreeing.
"At least I don't have a job where I have to ask for permission anymore." You jokingly said, trying to make the best of the situation.
"Well then we have a plan. Sooo, you better get home and pack your things. We should be at the airport early tomorrow morning. I'll text you the time and pick you up. Sounds good?" You nodded before going for another kiss. You stayed at Leon's house for a while longer before eventually going home and packing your stuff. You were excited to be by his side at a job and couldn't wait for it anymore. God knows what you've gotten yourself into...

Chapter 5: Robbed
It had been a little while since your birthday and that special evening with Leon, he had to go back to work and you had to go back to college. While he was away you tried your best to focus on your college work, with your big final project coming up you needed to get your head in the game. Besides that you also had your private driving lessons, stressing you out even more.
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” You cursed at yourself as you looked down at your test results.
“What’s the matter, Buttercup?” Leon was listening to you on the other end of the phone. He was away on some work trip so you both tried your best to stay in contact through calling. “Didn’t get the results you wanted?”
“Of course not!” You scoffed as you looked down at the paper and you scrunched it into a paper ball. You threw it across the room, letting out another grunt.
“Don´t worry about it too much. It's just one test, I'm sure the next one will be better.” You knew that Leon tried his best to motivate you but you weren't really in the mood for that now. “Ugh, no Leon, it's not just another test. Every grade matters now. If I fuck this up I can forget getting that internship or a job I like! It's not like you could understand that, Mr. Richboy with that mysterious job you got...” You didn't want to snap at him like that, but the past weeks left you with not nearly enough sleep so you were at the edge all your time anyway. Thankfully, Leon understood you and didn't take it personally.
“I think you need a break from all of this for a day. It won't get better if you don't take care of yourself.” Leon said. You shook your head, knowing he wouldn't see that.
“I can’t, Leon. I still got so much work to do and-” Leon interrupted you.
“That wasn't a suggestion, Buttercup. As soon as I’m back, you’re gonna take a break. I will make sure you will have a few nice days off. With me, of course. After that I'm sure you can work with full potential again.” It was hard to decline his offer, especially because you knew he was right. You let out a sigh in defeat, agreeing to his idea. The two of you then proceeded to talk some more, before Leon had to hang up again. After you said goodbye you turned back to your small desk to prepare for college.
A few days passed since talking to Leon and he just sent you a message, telling you he would be back that evening. You were excited to see him again and also were looking forward to what he planned for you two. Since he didn't tell you what he wanted to do you just went with a comfortable outfit. Some black jeans, your favorite shirt, sneakers and a jacket. The whole day you were just waiting for him to text you again and tell you where to meet. That message never came, but at some point Leon just texted you from your front door asking you to come outside to him. You left Jordan a note telling them that you were going to be away for the night and that they unfortunately had to eat alone. After that you grabbed your house keys and phone and went outside.
Leon was already waiting for you, standing next to an old fashioned motorcycle. He held up a helmet and you practically ran towards him, happy to see him after your time of separation. You couldn't stop yourself from giving him a hug, hoping you could stay like this forever. After a while however you both let go of each other and Leon handed you the helmet he held. He then sat down asking you to do the same. "Where are we going?" You asked him while taking a seat behind him. He didn't look at you when answering, starting the vehicle.
"We'll see. The most important thing is that you can get your head free from college and we can spend time together, right?" You nodded, smiling under your helmet. As the motorcycle started to roar you put your hands around Leon, leaning your head against his back. Soon you found the two of you driving through the streets. You felt the cold air on your body but you were so close to Leon that it didn't bother you.
As the sun began setting Leon drove up a street, stopping on a mountain with a wonderful view over the city. The motorcycle stopped and Leon got up from it. He then helped you get off it as well, reaching a hand out to you. You thanked him, placed the helmet on the bike seat and walked towards the edge of this mountain viewing deck. You were astonished by the view that was offered to you here. Never before have you left the city and gone to this place, no bus was driving here and it’s not like you had the time for it anyway, walking would take hours. You sat down on the old wooden bench that was placed near the cliff, looking over to the sun and enjoying the last few beams that shone on your face. You closed your eyes and smiled into the sky. It has been way too long since you were outside and just enjoying nature without being stressed from college or work. A deep breath escaped your lips and let out a content smile. Soon you felt another body next to you and you felt Leon looking at you from the side. Slowly, you opened your eyes again and looked at him happily.
"Angel made us some food before I went to pick you up. I hope you like it." He put a small box between the two of you and opened it. In it was an exotic fruit salad with one fork for each of you.
"Whoa.. it looks so good, she shouldn't have to do that!" You said to him. After saying that you accepted the fork from him and took a small bite of the salad. You let out a satisfied “Yum!” before Leon also took a taste of it, happy about you liking it. You both enjoyed the tasty fruit salad without exchanging any words. After you were done eating, Leon put the box back into the hidden compartment of his motorcycle before sitting down next to you again. He was happy about seeing you so relaxed after getting to know your stressed side. Soon the sky was a mix of red and blue, the sun almost completely being hidden beyond the city and soon the horizon. The first few stars appeared in the sky soon after the sun had gone back to hiding, leaving you in the cold. Leon noticed you trying to stay warm and even though you already put on your jacket, you were still kinda freezing. He lay an arm around your shoulders and pulled you close to him. His body heat warming you up. You enjoyed his company, putting an arm around his body as well trying to get as close as possible to him.
After a while you broke the silence, not bearing the cold air any longer.
“How about..” He turned his head to face you as he wanted to listen to you talk, he wanted to give you his full attention. “We get going and grab some pyjamas for the both of us and we stay the night in a hotel?”
He nodded at the suggestion. “Considering we’re on the expensive side of town I imagine you want me to pay?” He raised his eyebrows as he smirked.
“Nope!” You cockily smiled at him. “While you’ve been gone I have been absolutely busting my ass at work!” You pulled your credit card out of your backpocket. “So that means that I’m going to be treating you to something for once.”
He plucked the card out of your hand and looked at it, turning it to see the front. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen a credit card that’s not black.”
It took you a second to realise what he meant and you just scoffed at him as you snatched it back. “Not all of us are ring leaders of the criminal underworld y’know.” You rolled your eyes and placed it back into your pocket.
“Is that what you think I do for a living?” He chuckled as he tightened his grip on your shoulder.
"Well, I don't know. You're never telling me anything about what you do. You're just gone at some point and then return without letting anyone know where you were. So thinking of you as a Mafia boss would make sense." You also let out a small chuckle but it wasn't really honest. You were wondering for months now what he was doing and why he never talked about it.
“It’s not like that, Buttercup.” He sighed.
"Well, then tell me what it is like. Leon, I.. Don't you trust me?" You looked at him with big eyes, worried your relationship wasn't as deep as you hoped. You never had these kinds of conversations. Thinking about it now, you barely even knew anything about Leon and also the other way around.
"No, listen to me. If I could, I would tell you anything you wanted to know. But I'm.. I literally am not allowed to talk about it now. Please understand that, I know that you can do that for me." Reluctantly you nodded, still unhappy about his mysterious answers. But you wouldn't stop trying to find out what he did, you were just too curious. "Let's stop talking about work now, this isn't what I wanted this meeting to be about. Let's go find a nice place to stay now." He stood up, lifting you up with him. You then went over to his motorcycle and prepared for the drive.
The sounds of the engine roared through the busy streets as the two of you scouted for a place to park.
On your right you spotted a row of motorcycles and you informed Leon. “Look, on our right.” You tapped his shoulder and looked to the right at the empty spot, resulting in him slowing the bike down. He slowly drove the bike into the spot and he turned off the engine. Leon got off of the bike first and he took your helmet off of you. You smiled at him with messy hair as he held out his hand to help you off the bike.
“So where do we start, Buttercup?” He asked as he placed his keys into his front pocket. Together the two of you strolled through the streets looking for a place to stay. After a while of walking around you finally found a hotel that still was open for check-ins. “Pyjamas another day then?”
“It’s-” You checked your phone and looked at the time. “-already eleven at night. No stores are open anymore.” You admitted as you both went up the marble steps to the hotel lobby.
“How about a shopping day tomorrow then?” Leon asked you.
“As long as I’m back at home by two.” You both walked up to the front desk. “I have work tomorrow.” Leon simply nodded at you. “Hiya.” You said to the woman working the desk. “Do you still have any rooms available?”
She clicked her mouse a few times and eventually opened her mouth. “We have a few.” She flipped over her computer monitor and showed the two of you pictures of rooms available. “We have our standard suite, VIP suite and finally the President Suite.” She guided you through the rooms, explaining the differences between them. You listened to the woman, worrying about the cost of all this.
"Uhm.. so how much would one of the basic rooms cost for one night? For us two?" She checked her notes and then told you the prices, making you feel sick. You did say to Leon you would pay because you really did work hard the few weeks, but apparently that wasn't even close enough to what this woman wanted from you. You thanked her for telling you the prices and then looked at Leon. "Leon, I.. I don't think I can pay this. I mean, I saved some money since I wanted our first day together to be special but.. I can't afford this! This is way too much than I imagined it to be, even the cheapest of the rooms is still too expensive! I'm so sorry, I guess we should just drive back home and spend the night there." You whispered to him and hoped the woman wouldn't see you panic like this. Leon looked at you sympathetic, understanding your wish to have a perfect reunion. He put a hand on your shoulder and gave you a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry about it, Buttercup. I can pay for this. There will be many more chances for you to invite me to something, alright? Everything will be fine, you hear me?" You simply nodded, fearing Leon would think of you as someone who was just after his money.
Before he went to talk to the woman again you grabbed his hand. "I can give the money back to you after some time! I don't want you to always give your money away for me. I don't want you to think that's all I care about." You admitted and looked him in the face.
He pulled you closer to him and patted you on the head. "I would never think like this about you, Buttercup. I know you're trying your best and I appreciate that. You really don't need to pay me back, alright? All that matters to me is that we spend time together." You now returned the smile. He passed the receptionist his black credit card and she seemed unphased by it, she must see these all of the time. She kept his card and gave him two golden plastic cards in return, the keys to the room.
Leon went through the door first and instantly went into the bathroom, checking behind the door and once he came out he instantly opened the closet door. “Paranoid?” You asked him as you sat on the end of the bed, looking at him run around the room.
“You can never be too sure.” He raised his eyebrows as he went to sit down next to you. “Are you not tired?” He looked at your face. Over the time the two of you have spent together he began to learn your sleep schedule, you go to sleep at around half ten to eleven and you wake up at around eight. “It’s wayyyyy past your bedtime, Buttercup.”
You looked at the clock that was beside the bed. Just past midnight. “I’m not really tired, I guess running around looking for a hotel gave me a burst of energy.”
Leon hummed to himself for a moment and looked at the gramophone that sat on the opposite side of the room. “I think I have an idea to make you feel sleepy.” He smiled as he got up from the bed and ran to the bathroom, after a few moments he came back out and shut the door behind him. Next he began to dig through the cupboard underneath the gramophone and he selected a record. After adjusting it on the stage soft, classical music began to play. “Would you like to join me?” He held out his hand for you and you happily accepted it. You placed your arms around his neck and the two of you slowly swayed to the music. The sound quality wasn't the best but what can you expect from a piece of hardware from the early 1900s. You ignored the slight static and rested your head on Leon’s shoulder, moving your hands down to his chest. “Getting tired already?” He chuckled, causing his chest to slightly move up and down.
“A little…” You admitted. Your eyes were getting harder and harder to keep open. Leon held you tight and hummed along to the music as he caressed your back. You both danced together for what felt like ten seconds when in reality was around five minutes.
Leon slowly pulled you away from him. “Come with me.” He held your hand as he guided you to the bathroom and the white lights almost blinded you, almost instantly after Leon turned off most of the lights, leaving only the mirror to illuminate the room.
“Is this your plan to get me to fall asleep?” You asked as you looked at the filled bathtub, Leon had put some simple bath soaps in there to make the water look bubbly and smell divine.
He nodded as he took off his shirt. “My plan is to get both of us to fall asleep.” You couldn’t help but stare as you watched him take off his shirt. “This isn’t a show, Buttercup. You’re joining me.” You raised your eyebrows at his cockyness and you undid the belt on your jeans, tossing it onto the tiled floor with a loud thud. Once you looked back at Leon he was just wearing his underwear and looking at himself in the mirror, brushing his hair back with his hand. You smiled at him as you pulled off your jeans, leaving them in the pile of clothes by the wall. Leon appeared in front of you and helped you take off your shirt, slowly lifting it over your head and being careful to not get it caught on your nose. “Still looking as sexy as always.” He smirked at you once you were both down to your underwear.
“Right back at you, Mr. Kennedy.” You winked as you began to take off your underwear, sliding it off of your body. Leon did the same, throwing his onto the floor with the rest of the clothes. He held out his hand for you to take and you happily did so. You both stepped into the hot water and Leon sat down first, slowly to make sure that the water wouldn’t spill over the sides. You followed him and sat between his legs, your back facing him. He lightly splashed some soapy water on your back and he ran his hands across your skin to clean you. The feel of his hands massaging your back was enough to knock you out on the spot and he could tell. He grabbed your shoulders and slowly tilted you back, allowing for you to lean on his chest. You closed your eyes as Leon held onto you, the smell of the soap and Leon’s cologne wafting through your nose put you into a trance.
The both of you stayed in the bathtub for around twenty minutes and by then you had already passed out. Leon carefully climbed out and emptied out the water. He used a small towel to dry you off and finally he then carried you to bed, tucking you under the covers to keep you warm. Lastly Leon climbed in beside you, caressing you once again and falling asleep behind you.
The next day arrived and you and Leon checked out of the fancy hotel. The both of you agreed to go into the city before you had to go home again and go back to your daily life filled with stress. “I can’t even remember the last time I slept so well.” You stretched your arms as you left through the hotel doors saying goodbye to that comfortable bed you spent the night in.
“Neither do I.” Leon answered you, and he really meant it. Whenever the two of you shared a bed and were physically close to each other he was actually able to sleep through the nights without any nightmares. He never told you about them as he didn't want to make you worry about him but he knew that at some point you would eventually catch on. Honestly, Leon was just glad to find some rest when you were near to him.
The weather that day was quite warm, the sun already shining high in the sky. “We should definitely get you some sunglasses, Buttercup.” Leon said as he just put on a pair for himself. You shook your head, laughing at him.
“Always prepared, huh, Mr. Kennedy?” You said jokingly. Leon also let out a small laugh, leading you to his parked motorcycle. You put on the helmet again and sat down in the back of it. Leon then took the seat before you, starting the machine. Once again you put your arms around him to make sure you didn't fall during the ride. Soon Leon drove away from the parking lot and on the busy street.
Just a few minutes later he stopped again to park his bike. You both got off it and went to the main part of the city by foot. You soon understood what Leon meant the day before by “expensive part of town”. All the stores you went by were expensive clothing stores or restaurants. You didn't even dare to go into one, fearing the prices for just simple white shirts. So you were happy just looking through the windows and talking to Leon.
At one point you passed this small ice cream shop and considering you had been walking for around an hour you wanted to get something to eat and drink. “I'm gonna pay for this one!” You said to Leon, not even asking at this point. As you went to look for a place to sit at the ice cream shop you saw a sign saying “CASH ONLY, CASH NOT ACCEPTED”. You pointed your finger at it. “You go look for a place for us to sit, I think I saw a cash machine around. I’ll be back in a second.” You waved Leon away and went to search for the machine you saw earlier. Turning around a few corners you finally found it. It stood quite remote from the main part of the city, sending a shiver through your body in this creepy and shadowy street. You quickly went over to it, putting your credit card into the machine. You stood for a second to wait for the prompt to enter your pin code and once it appeared you followed all of the instructions, soon pulling out fifty dollars. “That’s far more than enough but it’ll be fine.” You thought to yourself. You placed the money into your jacket pocket and walked away from the machine. As you turned the corner to the ice cream shop you accidentally bumped into someone, causing you to stumble a little. “Oh, sorry about that! I didn't see you...” You started apologizing but something about this person threw you off. They didn't say anything and just walked away. “Weird..” You continued your way and placed your hands into your pockets, only to notice that they were now empty. “My money!” You exclaimed, looking around for the thief. You could see them, already quite a difference was between you two. You began running after them, also running past the ice cream shop where Leon was waiting. He saw you following that other person and after not showing a reaction to him calling your name, he knew something was wrong. He jumped up from his seat now also running after you and the thief. He quickly caught up with you, asking what happened while you two were still running. Out of breath you told him that you were robbed and who you were running after. Leon scanned his surroundings and then sped up leaving you behind him. You slowed down, trusting Leon would get your money back even without your help.
You soon found him and the robber in an alley, but you weren't expecting to find either of them like that: Leon was completely out of breath as he was kneeling on the robber, his hair standing in all directions but that was nothing compared to the man literally lying before him. His head was covered in blood and he was covering his belly, letting out grunts of pain as Leon still continued to punch him. He said something to the man, but you couldn't make out what it was. Everything seemed to happen at once and you felt sick. You wanted to tell Leon to stop but were unable to form any words, just watching in shock. You never saw Leon like this and it scared you, scarred you. You felt your legs shake and you tumbled towards a wall, trying your best to keep your balance. You thought you were gonna pass out, unable to breathe correctly anymore. You felt tears streaming down your face, you didn't even realize that you started crying. You stood there trembling, trying to catch your breath. Finally, it seemed like forever, Leon noticed you. He looked at you shocked and worried and ran over to you, leaving the poor man alone. He kneeled down beside you, asking if you were alright but it fell to deaf ears. You still felt like you were gonna pass out after what you just saw. As Leon tried to help you off the wall you flinched at his touch, almost immediately turning away from him. Leon’s heart shattered as he saw you like this knowing he was the reason for it. He looked back to the man who by now was limping his way past you. Leon shot him one last angry look before fully concentrating on your well-being. He tried to comfort you but it seemed that whenever he tried to touch you, you flinched. So he decided to just lean beside you, hoping you would calm down. Eventually, you did. It took a long time, but Leon never left you alone. You could breathe normally again but your body was still trembling and your eyes wide open. You also finally could hear something again that wasn't your own fast heartbeat. Leon seemed to notice your change, slowly turning to you in hopes you wouldn't be scared. He thought about taking your hand, but decided against it.
“Should I go get you some water or something? Maybe you will feel better when you drink something.” He asked and you could hear in his tone that he was deeply worried and sorry. You nodded simply, unsure if he even noticed it. He got up from the place beside you and went to get something to drink. Shortly after he came back with a bottle of water. He opened it for you and then handed it to you. You took some small sips and felt your head clear up again.
“W-What.. Why did you..” You whispered, your voice still shaking and unable to bring out whole sentences. “You nearly.. killed that man..” Leon shook his head.
“I.. I don't know what happened there, Buttercup. Something just took over me, I’m sorry you had to witness that. I can't ever make up for that.” Leon looked away from you, unsure of how to handle the situation. “I messaged Angel. She will come here and pick us up, I guess that's the best for us now. Can you walk?” He held out a hand, still covered in some of that man's blood. You didn't accept his help, you began using the wall behind you to help get you up. Your legs were still too shaky for you to stand alone. Thankfully, Leon noticed this before you fell down to the ground again. He carefully wrapped an arm around you, lifting you from the ground and carrying you bridal-style. You just let it happen, no more energy left in your body to fight it anymore.
You must have blacked out because when you opened your eyes again you found yourself in Leon’s home. You were lying on his fancy sofa in the living room and could hear someone talking outside of the room. Well, you heard Angel clearly screaming at Leon. You didn't pay too much attention to it and sat up.
As you stared at the ceiling you heard the door open and Angel speak to you. “We got told what happened…” You looked towards Angel and saw her standing with Daisy. Daisy was holding an old shoe box.
“I guess old habits die hard, huh?” Daisy sat down at the end of the couch by your feet, playfully punching your leg. “Being protective is one of Leon’s many habits, trust me, I would know.” She chuckled as Angel gave her a concerning look.
“Leon never told you what he did for a living did he?” Angel asked you, to which you replied by shaking your head. “Maybe you should ask him again, it would explain why he did what he did…” Angel had never spoken to you like this before, it was as if she wasn’t a vampire after all. “He wants to talk to you. Should we send him in?” You took a deep breath and nodded at Angel.
Both her and Daisy stood up, Daisy leaving the shoe box on the coffee table. “Get him to explain the box to you.” She said before giving a small wave and closed the door behind the two of them, leaving you alone in the room.
You reached for the glass of water placed on the table in front of you and took a big sip. As you put it down again you saw the living room door open and Leon walking inside, still a worried look resting on his face. “How are you feeling, Buttercup? You were out for three hours after I got Angel to pick us up.”
“I guess I’m alright, at least a little better, I think.” Leon slowly came closer to you, making sure not to scare you or anything.
“May I?” He pointed to the free space next to you on the sofa. You simply nodded and pulled your legs close to your chest, resting your head on them. “I'm really sorry for what happened earlier. I wish I could go back and change what I did. I shouldn't have reacted like that. Especially not when you were close.” You simply nodded, not knowing what to say to him. Your eyes were fixated on the box Daisy left on the table for you. Leon followed your gaze and took a deep breath. He reached out to it and placed it on his lap.
“I can't change what happened there, but the least I can do now is be honest to you.” He lifted the box up, revealing some old fabric. It seemed it was covering something and you watched Leon take it out. He undid the piece of cloth, revealing a blood covered police badge. He tried cleaning it up a bit before handing it over to you. You took it in your hands, unsure of what it meant. You tried reading what was written on it, but the blood made that impossible.
“Racoon City Police Department” He told you, the name sending a shiver down your spine. “I was there, my first day as a police officer. The day of the virus outbreak.” He continued, clearly having flashbacks of that day.
“Leon, I-..” He shook his head, continuing to talk.
“There was so much going on that day. I was happy to meet Claire, Chris’s younger sister, there. Without her.. Without Ada, maybe I wouldn't have survived.” You were too young when that accident occurred, unable to understand the panic people felt those days but even though you were too young back then, you still had to live with the outcome.
“My parents.. They were there. They were there when the outbreak happened, they barely made it out alive. After that.. They weren't the same anymore. They completely turned their backs on the world now, I don't even know how they are doing. I didn't know that you were there, too. I’m so sorry, Leon.” You took another look at the badge and then at Leon.
“After I got out of there alive, I had no choice to ever live a normal life again. I still have to fight these.. Things. The same goes for Chris, Angel and Daisy. Everyone of us is locked into this circle of forever fighting these neverending viruses. Angel and Daisy were only kids when it happened. Kids.” Leon’s hand formed a fist and you looked at him worried. You put your hand over his, showing him that you were still there for him. “All these people I’ve lost.. I didn't want that to happen to you. I don't want to think about you being in danger. I couldn't have told you before. I hope you understand me, Buttercup.”
You simply nodded, overwhelmed with the situation. You leaned closer to him, resting your head on his shoulder. “Thank you, Leon. Thank you for telling me this. I promise, you won't lose me, ever. Whatever will happen, I’ll stay by your side.”

Chapter 4: The Party
This chapter is intended for mature audiences (18+). Read the main part of the chapter here first before reading this part, you can follow the link from the main story to come back.
MALE VERSION
It was just the two of you now. “Thanks for the party, Leon.” You looked up and smiled at him and he looked down and did the same. You weren't sure if it was the alcohol or maybe the hypothermia sitting in but you felt so hot looking at his face so closely. “I’ll be sure to remember it.”
“Are you sure you’re not too drunk to remember?” The smell of whiskey from his breath filled your nostrils and sent a warm feeling down your spine. Even though your soaking wet hair was keeping you cold, you felt so warm next to Leon. You simply let out a small chuckle at his little joke.
Leon held his arm around your waist, pulling you more onto his lap and allowing for you to lean on his chest. Your hair drenched his shirt, his fancy branded dress shirt. Once you realised what you had done you pulled away from him and apologised. “Oh god. I’m sorry, Leon.” You pulled the towel off of your shoulders and began to dab it on his chest, only making it worse. All you were doing was spreading it and making his shirt even more see-through, you would have been lying if you said you didn’t like what you saw.
“It’s fine.” He chuckled at you. “I’ve been wanting to take this shirt off all evening, it’s starting to irritate me.” He slightly leant forward so that he was no longer leaning on the back of the chair but also making sure that you stayed on his lap. With one hand he undid the buttons on his shirt while the other was placed on your hip, making sure that you didn’t fall. You watched him closely as he undid his buttons, even helping him with the very few that he struggled with. The only time he let you go was to allow for him to slide the sleeve off of his arm, but he instantly put his hand back, with slightly more grip than before, making your ass go slightly numb. Yet again, you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like it.
“Can I ask for one last birthday present?” You were shocked with yourself when you said that. The words came tumbling out of your mouth without any thought.
Leon placed his drink on the armrest of the chair and then placed his hand on your thigh. “And what is that, Buttercup?” He asked.
“I-” You swallowed hard, not being able to stop what you were about to say, it was like you were possessed. “I want you to fuck me.”
“Huh?” He answered. You knew he heard you, he just wanted to be a complete asshole. “I’m getting old, my hearing isn’t quite what it used to be.
“I said. I want you to fuck me, Leon.” You repeated yourself.
“Oh really?” He raised his eyebrows at you as he smirked. “Where’s your manners, Buttercup? I mean you’re going to have to ask a bit more politely than that.”
You were a bit taken back by Leon’s response, you were half expecting to be thrown onto his driveway and being told to never come back. But you were excited that you got a different reaction. “Please Leon. I want- I need you to fuck me.” You stuttered as you talked due to him sliding his hand up your thigh, playing with the fabric of your short mini dress. “I’ve been wanting you ever since you sent me that photo of you while you were away.”
“Did you jack off to that photo?” He asked you, correctly thinking that you had. You simply nodded at him, unable to get any words out as his hand was completely under your oversized shirt, fiddling with your skimpy underwear. “And you didn’t even think to ask for any more photos?”
“I didn’t want to overstep.” You admitted, shyly looking down.
He whistled at you as he didnt want to move either of his hands. “You could never overstep, Buttercup.” He hooked his finger around the side of your underwear and pulled it down your legs. “If you want anything from me, you can always ask.” He gave you a wink as he twirled your underwear around his finger, followed by him then throwing it onto the table in front of you. “What can I say?” He let go of your hips and placed his hand on the back of your head, slowly pushing you towards his face. As he was doing so his other hand felt like magic to you, his large fingers slowly caressed you and massaged your inner thigh. “I'm a giver.” He winked as he kissed you heavily. The both of you letting out the stress that neither of you knew you had, both of your shoulders untensing and collapsing. Your entire body had melted around him, you were like a puppet being played by his strings.
“Go on.” You heavily whispered to him.
He chuckled as he continued to kiss you, his stubble tickling your face. As you were preoccupied with his face, his fingers slowly but surely inserted their way into you, gracefully pumping in and out of you. “Are you alright?” He asked after he noticed your face was a little uncomfortable.
“Yes, yes.” Your breathing was heavy and you did feel uncomfortable, not because of Leon, but because you were anxious. “I- I’m just nervous.”
“What’s there to be nervous about?” He asked as he pulled a strand of hair out of your face.
“I’ve never done this before.” You admitted to him, but he didn’t seem phased, if anything he was excited.
“And?” He stroked the side of your face. “That doesn’t mean anything.”
You felt relieved at his response, and you began to relax, letting Leon do his thing. Leon’s hand slowly began to run up and down your cock, sure you had done this by yourself when your roommate wasn’t home but Leon was making you feel things you had never felt before. It felt different with another person doing this to you, you were used to knowing exactly what was about to happen as you were the one in control, but now? Leon has you by the strings.
Although you were a little embarrassed at the mess you had made, Leon assured you that it wasn’t a worry.
“Are you okay, Buttercup?” Just that nickname alone made you want to orgasm all over again. You simply nodded, and once you opened your eyes you saw him pull his fingers out of his own mouth, then putting them back under your shirt and drenched his fingers yet again but this time he put them in your mouth. You tasted your own cum and you weren't sure what it tasted like, you just wanted to lick his fingers not your own cum.
He eventually pulled his fingers out of your mouth and smirked at you. “Do I get to give you a handjob now? Is that how it works?” You asked him, earning a small smile and a laugh.
“No.” He simply replied as he scooped his arm under your legs and the other one on your back. “It’s your party, and I'll make you cry if I want to.” He placed you down onto the seat where he was just sitting and he knelt down on the floor.
“Wha-?” He interrupted you by leaning forward and kissing you, as he did so he spread both of your legs open using your knees. “Oh!” You chuckled as he went back down to his knees, giving you a smirk as he went down. Leon kissed his way up your thighs, sucking and biting every inch of you while he made his way towards your cock. You couldn’t help but fidget as he tickled you from his light stubble, causing him to laugh and him tickling you even more. Eventually you calmed yourself down as the only thing you could focus on was Leon’s tongue and his mouth.
You looked down at him and the only thing you could see was the top of his head, his hair slowly moving up and down. As Leon worked his magic you didn’t know what to do with your hands, you kept one on the arm of the chair, gripping it around the glass that Leon had placed there earlier, your other hand moved down your own body and you tangled it in Leon’s hair, grabbing onto it hard.
“Be careful.” He pulled away and breathed heavily. “You’re going to pull all of my hair out.”
You were taken back by his heavy breathing. “Can you even breathe down there?” You asked, genuinely concerned for him.
He chuckled and brushed his nose with his finger. “I’m fine. If I can’t breathe I’ll just pull away.” You nodded at him and he gave you a small smile before going back down, you made sure to loosen your grip a little on his hair, you sufficed to just slowly running your fingers through his locks.
You tilted your head back, banging it on the chair but you ignored it.
You shuddered, and flinched forward, holding both of your hands in Leon’s hair. He chuckled at your reaction and the small vibrations that came from his mouth were what sent you over the edge, your body continued to shake, and your cock twitched as you came on his face.
He pulled away and sat back, leaning against the coffee table. “How was that?” He asked as he grabbed his shirt to wipe his face. He looked at the watch on his wrist and then to his left at the sky. “How about we continue this in the bedroom?” He suggested as he stood up and held out his hand for you. “Angel wakes up at the same time everyday and I’m sure you don’t want her interrupting us.”
You couldn’t help but smile as you accepted his hand, standing up on your own two feet felt a little disorienting, from the combination of how much you had drank throughout the night and what Leon just did to you, but he made sure that you could walk. He led you up to his bedroom again, making this a night to remember.

Chapter 4: The Party
This chapter is intended for mature audiences (18+).
While the main core of this chapter is gender neutral and SFW, the ending is written for a general female reader. The male reader part will be in the next post separately. If you would like to read neither you will be notified when to click away and when to start reading again.
A few weeks passed after you finished your “passion project”, as Alex and Jordan lovingly called it. You went to visit Leon a few times after that again but he was often out for work, which made it hard to stay in personal contact. You never found out what he did for work and where he went but as soon as he was away from home you felt him changing a little. Even though you mainly texted each other, he sometimes even called you. When this was the case he often was drunk and you wondered if he really went out for work or just to party. As soon as he was back you never had the chance to ask him if he's keeping anything from you. Whenever you tried to talk about the calls or messages he left for you he changed the subject. So you just learnt to live with it because you didn't want to make him mad or be annoyed by you.
Since it was your birthday in only a few days you wondered if Leon forgot his idea of partying at his place. Maybe he wouldn't even be home by then, you thought to yourself.
You were just eating dinner with your roommate Jordan as your phone lit up again. “Let me guess, Leon again?” You checked your phone just to confirm their premonition. You let out a small sigh. “What is it this time? I don’t know about you, but I think he's acting kinda odd lately and I never even met him!”
“Yea, I don't really know either. Maybe he's just overworking or something, I don’t know. I mean, he always liked to drink so maybe too much work doesn't really help with that.” You lay your phone to the side, eating the rest of the food you prepared earlier. It was nothing compared to Angel’s food but it was all you could afford to buy this week. It made you think about that money Leon offered you back then. Maybe declining it wasn't your best idea.
After Jordan and you finished eating and cleaning you went back into your small room and Jordan left the house to meet with a friend. You unlocked your phone again to see what Leon was up to this time. You noticed he had sent multiple messages already, asking if you were ignoring him or whatever. You quickly answered and reassured him that you weren't ignoring or pissed at him. He then asked about your day and what you were up to the next few days. You let out a small laugh. “Hmm, I don´t know.. Maybe celebrate my birthday or something like that.” You were unsure if he was just messing with you or actually forgot about it. You tried to respond calmly but it didn't really work as you hoped it would. Instead you sounded wayyy too ironic and pissed and you were angry at yourself.
You wanted to throw your phone away but Leon answered once again before you had the chance to do so. “I’m just messing with you, Buttercup ;) how could I ever forget your birthday? - Leon”, the message said. You couldn't stay mad for too long, especially not after Leon sent a picture of him after it. You hadn't seen him in so long so you weren't really prepared for what's gonna come. And even if you had seen him before, nothing could have prepared you for this. He sent a picture of himself, probably after working out. He was looking at the camera, his face in bright red and sweat covering his whole upper body. And he wasn't even trying to hide his muscular body. You were unable to move, you didn't even know what to do or say right now. You were happy that Jordan was out of the house right now, that meant you could have some alone time to yourself and that picture…
Another few days flew by and before you knew it, it was your birthday. You were woken up by Jordan, who came into your bedroom singing “Happy Birthday” as loud as they possibly could. You looked at them tired but soon had a smile resting on your face. After Jordan finished singing they came over to give you a nice hug. “Happy 21st birthday! I got us a small cake, we can eat it now if you want. And.. I also got some presents for you!” They pushed you out of the bed and into the small living room.
On the small table was a cake and a few small presents, but the biggest was seated on the old couch. “Leon!”
You had a big smile on your face and practically ran into his arms. “Happy Birthday, Buttercup. I hope my little surprise worked.” You nodded as hard as you could and sat down besides Leon. You opened the presents from Jordan and thanked them for it. Then Leon reached down into a bag that was laying next to his feet. “I also got you something. You’re probably gonna need this today.” You looked at him confused, took the wrapped present and opened it. You felt some kind of fabric on your fingers and pulled it out.
You spread it out before you and realized that Leon had bought you your own suit. You actually remembered a similar one in Leon’s closet back then. “Wow, Leon! This is so pretty, I don't even know what to say!” You went back to hug him again.
“Don't worry about it. Angel actually got you something for it as well. Here.” He gave you another small bag. In it was a purple bow-tie, the exact purple you painted the living room with. In the bag was also a fake clematis, which you could put into your suit jacket pocket.
“This is so nice! Thank you guys so much! I can't wait to wear it.” Jordan and Leon had to laugh because of your excitement.
“Let's eat some cake first, birthday kid, before you mess that new fancy suit of yours up!” Now it was your turn to laugh. You nodded in agreement before sitting back down. Jordan cut the cake in three pieces and each one of you enjoyed their piece of it.
After eating and drinking some tea you gave Jordan your dirty plates so they could clean them up. While they were doing that you grabbed your new suit and went to go into your room. “I'll be back in a few. Please make yourself comfortable and if you need anything, just ask.” You told Leon before leaving the living room and going into yours. You got rid of the pyjamas you were still wearing and put on some fresh underwear.  You then lay the suit on your bed and looked at it in detail. It contained black pants, a white collared shirt with shiny buttons, an almost blackish purple vest and jacket with the fitting bow tie and flower from Angel. You began putting on the pants, followed by the shirt and vest. You then put on the bow tie and went to leave the room with the jacket and flower laying over your arm. Before stepping outside though, you realized you didn't have any fancy shoes that fit your outfit. You decided to just put on some white sneakers, hoping it would look at least kind of okay.
As you left the room you almost walked into Leon, who was standing in front of your door. “Oh, I’m sorry. I just wanted to see if everything was alright..” He looked at you from head to toe. “Wow.. You look wonderful, Buttercup.”
You felt your cheeks heat up once again as you tried to find the right words to thank him. “Thank you so so much, Leon. I don’t think I've ever worn something so fancy and expensive, I really like it.” You looked up to him, a big smile covering your face.
Leon then reached out his hands, fixing your bow tie a little. “I just gotta make sure you look perfect. Now, put on your jacket so I can add that flower and I think then we should be ready to go.” You nodded and he helped you get into the jacket. After that he added the clematis into your chest pocket. He then took a step back looking at you. “This is perfect. Well then, should we go?” He held out his hand for you to take before going to the front door. You grabbed your phone and keys and then left together with him. Jordan was already waiting outside, also wearing a shirt covered by a black vest and some jeans. The three of you then left the building and went to Leon's car.
As you arrived at Leon’s home you already saw multiple people putting up signs or preparing stuff. You looked at Leon shocked, since you didn't think it would be this big of a party. Even Jordan couldn’t stop themself from letting out a surprised “Wow.” You nodded in agreement, unable to find any words. The moment Leon stopped on the driveway you could see Angel coming closer and then opening the car door for you. You thanked her and got out of the car, also thanking her for the presents she got for you. For a short second it seemed that she had a tiny smile on her lips but it happened so fast, you weren't sure if you just imagined it.
You felt a light tap on your shoulder taking you back to the now. “Come with me. I actually got another present for you. But it wouldn't fit in your home.” Leon took your hand and led you through the crowd of people. He then let go of you, standing behind you and covering your eyes. “Do you trust me?” He asked to which you answered with a slight nod. You felt him start walking so you also started going forward. After a short while of walking and taking turns he finally stopped you. He slowly lifted his hands from your eyes and added some dramatic sound effects with his mouth.
As soon as your eyes got used to the light you looked around. You were still outside near the house, but somewhere you never went before. In front of you stood a black car, already showing signs that it wasn't completely new. You turned back to Leon, looking at him confused. “What..What am I supposed to do with this now?” You asked him kind of dumbfounded as if you missed something.
Leon let out a small chuckle while walking to the car and unlocking it. “This, my dear, is your own new car. I mean, not really new, I used it before and it's actually kind of old, but I don't have any use for it anymore.”
You looked at him, still unsure on how to react. “You do know that I don't have a driver's license, right?” You slowly walked toward the car and checked it out.
“Of course I do. But I took care of that as well. A friend from work will be your teacher for a few weeks. You’re going to be getting driving lessons every day and before you know it you can drive all by yourself. I promise you, everything is gonna work out just fine.”
You still looked at him, raising an eyebrow. “I- Leon, this is really nice of you but-”
He stopped you before you had the chance to finish that sentence. “-Nope, no buts. I'm giving this to you now and I don't want you to return it to me like that money a few months back. You hear me?” Before being able to argue he threw the car keys over to you, leaving no room for discussion.
You sighed and had to chuckle. “Alright then. Thank you, Leon. I mean it. I don't know how I deserve all this. There's no way I'll ever be able to repay you.”
“That's the reason all these things are gifts, Buttercup. I don't want anything in return. I just like to help you out a little.” He winked at you before taking your hand and leading you back to the main party.
From a few meters away you could see Angel talking to another woman and a man. You recognized the man as the one who was with Leon at that bar a few months back. He was also wearing a fancy suit. The woman next to him was wearing a yellow dress, making her an eye catcher when combined with her pink hair. Leon and you walked right up to them, unfortunately interrupting their conversation. Leon cleared his throat, making your presence known to them. The three of them turned to look at you, realizing who you were. “Happy birthday!” The small woman with the pink hair pulled you into a hug, resting her head on your chest as she rocked you back and forward. “Angel has told me a lot about you!” She said as she pulled away. “Leon’s friend!”
Leon introduced them to you. “This is my colleague Chris and his assistant Daisy.” He pointed toward the two people and gave you a smile.
You let out a small “Hello” before you started talking some more. “It’s nice to meet the both of you.”
“It’s nice to meet you properly.” Chris held out his hand for you to shake and you gladly accepted it. “It’s weird to think that just a simple dinner between Leon and I allowed for the two of you to meet.” He chuckled. Chris then began to talk about how long he and Leon had known each other and that they often go out for “jobs” together. You tried finding out what kind of jobs they were, but never got a serious answer. At one point it was just you Daisy, Angel and Leon. They began to tell you about their relationship and how long the two of them had been together. You had never seen Angel so happy.
After you guys warmed up, Leon left you to stay with them to change as well. The three of you went to the backside of the house to see the preparations that Leon and Angel made. Eventually you ended up sitting down at one of the patio tables with Chris and the two of you drank a glass of champagne together.
You and Chris chatted for a while as you began to see the courtyard fill up with people. You barely recognised anyone and wondered who invited them all. There were college kids and older adults.
After a small while Leon came back to you and Chris, now also wearing a suit that looked identical to yours. You looked at him and couldn’t hide a smile. “Looking good, Mr. Kennedy.” You said to him jokingly.
“I can only return that compliment.” He winked at you. As the last guests arrived, Angel allowed for people to get the fresh food that was just finished up for them. You also got a plate and went to get something nice to eat. You and Leon went up together and he helped you pick out some food, although it was plain you just went for some meat and cheese. After getting your dinner, you and Leon sat down next to Chris on a small table. Soon after, Alex and Jordan also joined filling all your glasses with some champagne they found on their way through the house. You didn't even want to ask where they were sneaking around and just thanked them. Like always, Leon added some ice into his drink before clinking your glasses together. You all then ate and drank together, enjoying each other's company and having a lot of fun. This time you didn't really worry too much about how much you or even Leon had drunk. You were just glad to have a big birthday party with all your new friends.
Once it hit around midnight most of the guests began to leave, leaving only a handful of you left. The evening was really great, you met some new people and also drank a lot. Now you and Alex sat at the edge of the pool with a bottle of beer in each of your hands. You must have been there for a while because at some point Leon came over to tell you to get away from the pool. “C’mon, you’re going to get cold over here.” He held out his hand for you to take but rather than accepting it like always you simply looked at it.
“No.” You replied to him as you looked out towards the pool and you took your shoes and socks off, placing them behind you on the floor. “I’m having a grand ole time over here!” You dipped your feet into the water.
“I don’t want you to fall in.” He crouched down beside you and looked at both you and Alex. “The pair of you are pretty drunk and I’d rather you stay with the adults.”
“I am an adult, Leon.” You turned to scoff at him, pointing your finger in his face. “I’m pretty sure I know how to look after myself. I can make my own decisions, I don’t need your help!”
“Fine.” He stood back up. “Just be careful okay? I’m surprised that no one fell in the pool and I don’t want you to be the person who does it.” He turned around to head back to where he was originally sitting with Chris, beside the giant heat lamp that sat on the patio.
“Oooo, I don't want you to be the person who falls in the pool…” You rolled your eyes at Alex as you mimicked what Leon said. “I won’t fall in.” You chuckled to yourself as you began to take your jacket off. “I’ll willingly go in!” You tossed your jacket over to your shoes and you pushed yourself off the ledge and straight into the freezing cold water. Alex looked at you surprised, then jumped in after you. You could see Chris trying to hide his laugh while Leon looked at you shocked. This wasn't what he expected to happen. He didn't exactly have a plan for his next step, so he just decided to let it happen. So now you and Alex were acting like little kids playing in this big pool. After a while however you were getting bored, deciding to get out of the cold water and drinking another glass of whiskey that stood on one of the tables, just waiting for you guys. You sat down on the garden chair, your new suit completely wet, leaving you freezing cold. Leon already went inside to get you two some towels to get at least kind of dry.
You tried to hide your shivering but after a few minutes Leon noticed it anyway. "You know, I told you it wasn't the best idea to get into that pool, right?" He gave you a smirk, showing that he knew exactly that he was right. You just shook your head, letting some water fly through the air and wetting Chris who was sitting next to you. Leon let out a sigh, standing up from his chair. "Follow me. I'll get you some dry clothes." You let out a groan, feeling like a child the way Leon treated you the last few minutes. Nevertheless you stood up from the place you were sitting, slowly following Leon. You suddenly felt the alcohol you drank in your body making you walk unsteadily. Leon seemed to notice and even though he wasn't exactly sober either he helped you walk. Together you went inside the house and into his bedroom. You tried not to touch anything fearing you would make it dirty, but as soon as you went into his bedroom you couldn't keep your balance anymore. You lay down on his bed, muttering a quiet 'sorry'. Leon didn't seem to care and just went into his closet and grabbed out a single black t-shirt. It was heavily oversized but you still accepted it. It was a combination of you being soaking wet and all of the drinks you’ve had throughout the night but you instantly began to unbutton your shirt and you tossed it to the side of the room, the wet fabric beginning to create a puddle on the carpet. You slid the shirt over your head and then took off your trousers, throwing them onto the pile. “You could have just given that to me. I could have put it down the laundry chute…” He raised his eyebrows as he picked up the wet clothes and threw them into the laundry bin. “C’mon.” He placed his hand on your lower back as he walked you out of the room and back downstairs.
“You’re mad aren’t you?” You looked up at him, the embarrassment from you jumping into the pool only just kicking in.
“Why would I be mad, Buttercup?”
“You told me to come and sit with you and Chris, but noooo I wanted to be stupid and be annoying.” You rolled your eyes at yourself, disappointed that you might have ruined the night.
He let out a small chuckle. "The most important thing is that you have fun, you hear me?" He stopped walking and looked you deep in the eyes. "That's all that matters to me." You instantly got red, unable to move or answer anything to what he just said. “I’m happy if you’re happy.” He placed his hand on the side of your face and stroked your cheek.
As you came back to where Chris and Alex were waiting, you noticed Angel and Daisy had joined them as well. They were talking a bit, well mostly Chris and Daisy anyway. Alex seemed too tired and drunk to even add anything to their conversation. When you were sitting down again Chris just got up to leave. "It was really nice getting to know you. But Daisy and I will go back to our hotel now, we have something to do tomorrow. Maybe we can have an evening like this someday again." You gave Chris and Daisy a goodbye-hug and they went to leave. Angel accompanied them to their Taxi they must have called when you were changing your clothes upstairs. After that she went inside, already cleaning up some parts of the house. Alex decided to also go inside, not helping Angel but rather to get some sleep. That was probably the only good idea they had in that state. You sat down on the garden bench taking another sip of your drink. Leon placed himself next to you, also drinking another glass of whiskey.
FEMALE VERSION (starting now)
MALE VERSION
“Did you touch yourself to that photo?” He asked you, correctly thinking that you had.
As he slowly moved his fingers in and out of your body his thumb slowly ran circles on your clit, sure you had done this by yourself when your roommate wasn’t home but Leon was making you feel things you had never felt before. It felt different with another person doing this to you, you were used to knowing exactly what was about to happen as you were the one in control, but now? Leon has you by the strings.
Leon kept the slow pace, not speeding up and not slowing down. He wanted for you to orgasm but he didn’t want you to do it too fast. As your breathing became heavier, so did Leon’s, you could feel his cock aching under your leg. If his pants weren't such high quality you wouldn't be surprised if he would have ripped them right then and there. You leant on Leon’s shoulder as your stomach began to tie into knots, your head was buried into his neck and you quivered on him as you began to orgasm, cum absolutely drenching both his finger and his leg. Although you were a little embarrassed at the mess you had made, Leon assured you that it wasn’t a worry. He slowly pulled his fingers out of you to make sure that he wouldn't hurt you at all.
Leon kissed his way up your thighs, sucking and biting every inch of you while he made his way towards your clit. You couldn’t help but fidget as he tickled you from his light stubble, causing him to laugh and him tickling you even more. Eventually you calmed yourself down as the only thing you could focus on was Leon’s tongue and his large nose. You looked down at him and the only thing you could see was the top of his head, his hair slightly moving back and forward.
Your body was too focused on trying not to suffocate Leon as he made you feel special. You shuddered, and flinched forward, holding both of your hands in Leon’s hair. He chuckled at your reaction and the small vibrations that came from his mouth were what sent you over the edge, your body continued to shake, wave after wave as you came on his face. You felt his tongue licking up all of it.
He pulled away and sat back, leaning against the coffee table. “How was that?” He asked.
BACK TO THE MAIN STORY
The next morning you were already sitting downstairs in the kitchen, drinking a cup of coffee. Your hangover made your head pound with every move and you thought you were just gonna end up vomiting on the kitchen floor. Leon was still in a deep sleep when you got up that morning so you didn’t want to disturb him by telling him your issues.
You were sitting there, wondering what's gonna happen next. You let the past night play through your head a few more times, wondering if it was a one time thing or meant something more. You let out a deep sigh, instantly regretting it and massaging your forehead.
You didn't notice Angel coming into the kitchen, asking if you were alright. You told her about your headache and severe nausea and she reached into a tall cabinet, pulling out a pill bottle. “Here.” She passed two of the pills and a bottle of water. “This should help, but be careful because it’s going to make you kind of tired.” You thanked her and swallowed the pills without question, followed by downing the entire bottle of water.
You sat beside the window with a large mug of coffee that you made for yourself, looking at the heavy rain that pelted against the window, just thinking about the possible outcomes now. It wasn't like you were regretting the past night, you just never had an experience like that.
Just after hearing a deep cough from behind you, you were taken back to reality. "Angel told me you were feeling sick, is everything alright?" You turned around, seeing Leon stand in the door frame. You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words.
"Yea.. it's just, well.. I don't really know actually." You took another sip from your coffee and felt Leon taking a seat next to you.
"Is it because of what happened last night?" He looked at you worried, scared that he might have taken it too far back then. You tried explaining it to him, failing miserably. “Are you embarrassed to be with an old man like me?” Leon put himself down. You shook your head, too hard making you feel sick again but you tried to ignore it.
"That's not it.. I'm just.. I don't want this to be just another one night stand to you. I don't know what I want but-"
“I won’t abandon you, if that is what you’re scared of.” Leon looked at you seriously and took your hand in his. You weren't really sure if there was still some alcohol inside your body controlling your actions, but you brought your head closer to his. You weren't really sure what it was between you and Leon, but you knew you were way more than just friends.
You felt Leon's hand on your cheek, also getting closer to you now. You closed your eyes waiting for him to take the next step. And before you realized it, you felt his soft lips resting on yours sending butterflies through your entire body. You smiled into the kiss, leaning closer to him.
“This is just like the movies huh?” He chuckled.

"Ice Cold", a Leon Kennedy x reader fanfiction - Masterlist
As an Art and Design student all you want to do is just knuckle down and finish that one goddamn piece you've been working on for months. Too bad your time is constantly stolen by your Waiter job with minimal pay, but hey, at least the tips are good if you unbutton your shirt that one more time.
This fanfiction is also published on AO3 by user Qwertyyy12. She and I had the great idea of writing a gender neutral!Reader x dilf!Leon fanfiction so this is what's gonna happen the next few weeks. There will be at least one NSFW part written by her, but we're making sure that both female and male versions are written. If I peaked your interest I would be happy to add you to a tag list so you get updated whenever a new chapter drops! That's it from me, I hope you guys will like this! <3

Chapter 3: Paints
It had been quite a while since you had seen Leon in person or even spoke to him. You both sometimes messaged each other, but nothing too dramatic. You were in class as you saw your phone lit up. Another message from Leon. “I have a surprise for you. Meet me after your classes are done. - Leon S. Kennedy”, it read. You had to let out a small chuckle. You found it funny how he always signed his messages at the end of them. Your friend, who was sitting next to you, looked at you. “You alright?” They asked after hearing you chuckle out of nowhere.
“Yea, yea. Just a message I got.”
“Your boyfriend again?” They asked jokingly.
You shook your head. “I told you we aren't together. He's just a friend, nothing more.”
Your friend looked at you and rolled their eyes. “Yea, just a friend. That's what they all say. But if you don't want him, I can take him for you.”
You both had to laugh. “Whatever you say.” You both turned back to the lecture and it seemed the last hours were going by a lot slower than usual.
As the last lesson ended you and your friend left the classroom together. “So, do you want to meet Leon? He wanted to come by and pick me up, that's what the message was about earlier.” Your friend simply nodded and you two left the building. Leon didn't tell you where he was waiting but you were sure you would recognize any of his cars anywhere.
The two of you didn't have to wait too long before hearing a loud car drive by. Even before the window was pulled down, you knew it was Leon. “You didn't tell me you would bring a friend. I would have brought a bigger car if I had known before.”
You shook your head while laughing. “They don't want to come with us. I just wanted you both to meet.”
Your friend looked at you kind of shocked before turning away from Leon and whispering in your ear. “You didn't tell me he was that rich! Do you know how expensive the car he's driving is? And also.. I don't wanna sound rude but like, how old is he?”
You looked at them kinda shocked, hoping they were just messing with you. “I told you he had a lot of money, but that's not important right now. Just like his age! That's rude of you!”
You turned away from them and back to Leon. “Ehem.. well anyway. Leon meet my best friend Alex, Alex meet Leon.” By now Leon was out of the car and reaching his hand out toward Alex. They both shook hands and greeted each other. After that your friend walked around the car and asked Leon a bunch of questions. The both of them kinda talked about cars and stuff and even though you had no idea what they were talking about you were happy that they understood each other. After a while you heard a group of people talking from behind you, so you turned towards them.
You recognized them from one of your lectures, but you never had anything to do together. One of the boys then walked to you with the others laughing and pointing at you in the background. You raised your eyebrow and wondered what they were talking about. “Well, well, well.. Would you look at that? Looks like someone here has got themselves a sugar daddy! Isn't he a little too old for you? Or do you need a new dad after your parents went crazy?” He and his friends were laughing but you felt anger spreading through your whole body. Normally you would just ignore it if someone was to say something about you, but this time they were disrespecting Leon.
Finally Alex and Leon noticed something was going on and went over to you. You felt a hand on your shoulder and then heard Alex shouting toward the group. “Oh piss off! You’re just jealous, aren't you? Leave them alone and mind your own business!” They began laughing again and you were just about to snap.
“Let's get outta here. They aren't worth the trouble.” You now heard Leon speak up from behind you. He was standing next to the open passenger door, waiting for you to get in. You looked at the group once again and decided to listen to Leon. Alex’s hand left your shoulder and you went back to Leon.
Alex tried to calm you down again by changing the subject. “Are you getting anything special for our friend's birthday soon?”
Leon looked at them surprised, then at you. “Birthday? I didn't even know it was your birthday anytime soon.”
You scratched the back of your head in embarrassment. “Uh.. well yea. I didn't tell you, I don't want it to be a big deal or anything. I just wanted to get a drink with a few friends but that's it. It’s the big twenty-one so y’know i can finally drink. Whoop whoop. You can come too if you want, Leon.”
Leon shook his head. “No way. You know I got drinks at home, we can just have a party at my house. I mean, it's big enough to invite anyone and I think it would be a nice opportunity to make it more alive there. I would also like to meet more of your friends. You could also maybe meet a few of mine.”
You thought about the offer for a few seconds and looked at your friend. It seems Alex really wanted you to say yes, but you weren't sure about it. It's not like you knew too many people and you really just wanted to have a nice and quiet evening with a few friends. You looked back at Leon and before thinking about what you were gonna say. “Okay, but only this one time.”
Alex let out a shout of joy and hugged you. “I'm sure that your birthday is gonna be great! I also would looove to visit your house at some point, Leon! I’m gonna prepare a list with people we should invite, don’t worry about anything, Bestie!” They winked at you which made you chuckle and shake your head. After talking for a few more minutes of talking birthday plans you and Leon said goodbye to Alex. You two waited for Alex to make it past the group that made fun of you before taking a seat in the car.
“Y’know them?” Leon asked you, making sure you were alright.
“Barely. That one dude was a friend some years ago, but I guess college changes us all.” You let out a sigh before Leon started the loud engine and drove off.
As you arrived at Leon’s house you could see multiple trucks and vans all in the large driveway. Angel was there too, she was standing there yelling and bossing people around who were carrying large boxes and items covered with sheets. “What’s going on here?” You asked Leon.
“Well when I asked you to be my personal decorator, I was serious.” He pulled his car up to the side so that it was out of the way of the vans. “All those sketches you did the other week? I kept them. Angel and I sat down with them and we ordered everything you had on them, absolutely everything.” Leon hopped out of the car and shuffled over to your door, opening it for you and holding out his hand. “So, I thought I should bring you along to help set it up.”
“Leon!” You accepted Leon’s hand and stepped out of the car. “I don’t even know what to say!”
“How about you start with telling these guys where to put your expensive couches?” He chuckled as he tapped his keys, locking the car doors.
Together the two of you walked over to Angel. She looked as if she wanted to rip everyone’s hair out, more than usual that is. “It’s about time you got back.” She scoffed at the two of you. “I don’t have a single clue where you want all of this so.” She passed you a documents folder which when opening you realised had all of your sketches in. “These guys are absolutely useless, not a fucking braincell between them.” Angel snatched the car keys out of Leon’s hand and walked towards his car.
“Huh. Someone’s happy today aren't they?” Leon chuckled as you both walked towards the front door. As you went to take off your shoes you noticed that the movers had tracked mud all throughout the house as they brought furniture in. “Don’t bother, you’d only just get your socks dirty. Keep your shoes on and then we can clean up all the mess another time.” You nodded and hung up your jacket on the coat rack, followed by you then helping Leon to take off his leather jacket and then hanging it up next to yours. He gave you a silent thanks as he stood staring at the furniture in the middle of the room. “So where do we even start?” He asked.
“I have no clue…” You looked at your papers and together the both of you decided that the living room was probably the best idea. “So there should be like seven boxes in here. Two cupboards, a coffee table, a tv cabinet, the actual tv and then two smaller lounge chairs.” You muttered to Leon. “Let’s go find these boxes.” You and Leon went back outside to search each box that was sitting on the driveway. Angel had somewhat organised things earlier so it didn’t take too long to get the items sorted.
You bent down to pick up a box that was far too heavy for you to carry. “Woah. What are you doing, Kid?” He made you drop the box back onto the floor. “If you’re going to have your back blown out I’d rather you not do it from lifting up a heavy box.” He waved over two of the moving guys and asked for them to carry it safely to the living room.
Eventually all of the boxes that were needed were placed in the middle of the room, ready to be opened and then assembled together. You picked up the sketch again and held it in your hands, showing it to Leon. “Where’s the paint?”
“Paint?” He asked. “We didn’t order any paint.”
“It says we need purple paint.” You flipped over the paper to reveal the colours of the walls that were designed into the sketch. “Don’t tell me you didn’t read the back…”
“I uh…” He scratched the back of his head. “I may have forgotten to read the back. But that’s still fine right? We can just paint the walls another day.”
“Leon.. uhm, don’t you think it would be smarter if we just..you know, paint the walls before placing the furniture everywhere?”
He looked at you dumbfounded and scratched the back of his head. “Yea, I guess that would make sense. Sorry about that, Buttercup. I’ll get Angel to order all of the paint for you.”
You smiled at that nickname. Even though he has said it many times before it still makes your heart skip a beat. “It's probably better if we go to a shop. I can decide which exact colours to get when I see them in person.”
He sighed and then gave you a thumbs up. “Well then, let's go get some paint. Angel won't be happy about us getting that car out of the garage again, so let's try to avoid her.” He said jokingly but he was probably right about that. Once again you two went out the big doors and into one of Leon’s cars. Leon typed in an address for a paint store, started the car and you two drove off.
As you entered the shop one of the workers greeted you and asked if he could help out. You politely declined since you knew exactly what to get and another person would just distract you from your work. You walked around the different aisles looking for some good colors that fit the furniture Leon bought. Since he mainly got black or white furniture it was pretty easy to find something fitting. Thankfully you already wrote down some ideas for the different rooms. “I think we should go with a purple and blue-ish vibe. In college we learnt that purple symbolizes luxury and I think this is exactly what fits your big house. I think for the bedroom we should get a light blue since it's a calming color. And for the kitchen.. Hmm, let me think..” Leon listened the whole time and followed you around. You picked up different colors, said something about them, went around and exchanged them again. Just like the first evening you were together Leon couldn't stop listening to you. He was fascinated by your knowledge of all the colours and ideas for his home design.
After thinking about the different colours for the rooms you wrote them on a piece of paper and discussed them with Leon. Then you sent him off to find the colors while also doing that yourself. You went through the small store and found some good paint. As you looked for Leon and saw him on the opposite side you went over to him. On your way however you were stopped by an elderly man. “It's really good to see kids helping out their dads nowadays. Your father must be happy to have you.”
You looked at him confused. “Uhm..excuse me? I- I don’t know what you mean.”
He pointed in Leons direction. “Your father. I saw you enter with him earlier. The way he looked at you showed how proud he is to have you as a child. You’re probably a good help for him when choosing these colours.” He pointed down to the things you were carrying.
You let out a slight chuckle but didn't really know how to react or what to say. “Ehm, yea.. I guess he is.. Anyway, I should go now. He's probably waiting already.”
You gave the man a light smile before walking past him and to Leon. “What was all that about?” He looked toward the old man.
You shook your head and had to stop yourself from laughing out loud. “That sweet man thought you were my dad. It was kind of awkward.” You chuckled.
Leon looked at himself in a window reflection. “Do I really look that old?” He jokingly asked you. “Or maybe you just look too young?” You both started laughing.
“Anyway, did you get the paint I asked for?” Leon nodded and lifted up the cans he held in his hands. “Great, I think we can leave then. I got all I needed, too.” You held paint rollers and a plastic tray in your right hand, with some simple brushes in your left.
Together you went to the check out and put the cans and other stuff on the assembly line. “Decorating the kid’s bedroom huh?” The cashier tried to make conversation between the two of you while she scanned your items.
This time Leon decided to play along. “Yep. Little munchkin here has been wanting a new look in their room for ages, isn’t that right?” Leon teased you as he placed his hand on the top of your head, ruffling up your hair.
“Yeah, Dad.” You groaned as you pulled your head away from him, followed by you fixing your hair. “Can we just hurry up?” You played your role of the bratty teenager well, looking down at your phone as Leon laughed and paid for the paints and other items.
“You asshole!” You playfully punched his chest once you were both out of the door.
“What’s the matter, Kid?” He laughed as he placed his hand on his chest where you hit him. “You don’t like calling me Daddy?” You felt your entire face heat up as you didn’t expect that to come out of his mouth. “So tell me about how you plan on painting the walls then… Are you going to force me to help you, Kid?”
“Stop calling me a kid.” You replied to him, still looking away due to your flushed cheeks.
“Oh come on, don’t be mad at me!” He placed his arm around your shoulder as you both walked. “Compared to me you are a kid.”
“Whatever, Old Man.” You rolled your eyes and finally looked up at him. “And yes, you are helping me, so I hope you have something other than your fancy suits to wear.”
“I’ll find something.”
Both of you got into Leon’s car and you placed the bags by your feet. You looked back to the store you just left. “These poor people must think who-knows-what of us now. But it's probably the best excuse for seeing us together, I guess..”
Leon looked at you confused and kind of worried. “Are you ashamed of going outside with an old man like me?” He turned on the engine in his car, making it roar. “I think it was kinda funny, joking around like that. At least it's better than thinking I'm your sugar daddy.”
You let out a small laugh. “Yeah, I guess you’re right with that, too.”
Leon stepped on the gas, leaving the parking lot and going back home.
Once you were back in the living room you both placed the cans of paint and the multiple tools on the floor. “We should probably grab some of that tarpaulin from outside, we don’t want to ruin your beautiful carpets now do we?”
“Already got it, Buttercup.” He kneeled down beside a box and opened it up, taking out a layer of plastic. “Angel sorted this for us while we were gone.”
“She wasn’t too mad about us moving the car again was she?” You took the sheet from Leon and held two of the corners with Leon holding the other two.
“Of course she was. I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up using these tarps to help when murdering us.” You walked backwards from each other and neatly placed the plastic on the floor. “I think we should probably both change before we start.”
You looked down at the clothes you were wearing. A red t-shirt and a pair of loose Levi jeans. “That’s probably a good idea.” You didn’t want to ruin your jeans, they cost you the entire week to save up for. Both of you went upstairs into the master bedroom. “We’re definitely doing this room next. It just looks so depressing here.” You commented on the emptiness of the room, the large bed being the only thing in the room and it wasn’t even on a frame, it was just a mattress on the floor with a bunch of messy blankets.
“One thing at a time, Buttercup.” He opened the door to his large walk-in closet and just from a glance you could tell that this was the most fixed up room in the house. All of the clothes were neat and seemed to be in some kind of order. “You’re welcome to borrow any of my clothes but Angel also has some clothes in my closet too if that’s more your style.” You filtered through the clothes and you made sure to avoid anything name-brand. It’s bad enough wearing someone else's clothes, let alone expensive ones that you might potentially ruin. You picked out a pair of denim dungarees and a white shirt. After picking your outfit Leon grabbed some grey sweatpants and a white shirt, matching yours.
He was about to pull off his shirt as you were still in the room. “Oh- I should uhm.. probably go change in another room.”
Leon looked at you, confused even. “We’re just changing, no need to freak out.” Before you could say anything else he lifted his shirt revealing his happy trail and slightly hairy chest. You felt your face heat up and it seemed he felt you staring. “You like what you see?” He smirked at you. Even though you couldn't believe it, your face turned even more red. You tried finding words, but only bits of them finding a way out of your mouth. Leon began laughing, still with an exposed upper body. “I’m just joking around, Buttercup. If you don't feel comfortable changing here, the room next to this one should be available. Go change there if you like to.” You were thinking about it but quickly decided to leave the room. You could hear Leon chuckle as you closed the door behind you, letting out a deep breath. You went into the other room, realizing this would be the bathroom. You quickly changed your clothing, hoping it would fit. Although you weren't sure who it belonged to, both the denim and the shirt were kind of loose but besides that, they weren't too bad. You then left the room and were met by an already waiting Leon. “That outfit suits you.” He told you as you stood before him.
“Thanks. You also look good in something that isn't a suit.” You gave him a wink which made him chuckle.
You both then went downstairs and Angel had already prepared the paints for the two of you. “She can be a pain sometimes but she has her uses.” Leon states as he picks up a roller. “Primer first.” He states as he pours the paint primer into one of the plastic trays. “For you.” He passes the roller to you and you dip it into the primer. You begin to roll it against the white wall, preparing it for the many coats of paint you and Leon will soon apply.
You both worked in unison, listening to the music coming from the ceiling speakers. “Nickleback? Really?” You questioned.
“Angel put it on! Not me!”
“This is totally your playlist!” You pointed your paint roller at him. “There’s no way that a young woman like Angel would listen to this willingly.”
“Okay, maybe it is my playlist!” He pointed his roller at you now, making the two of them clank together and the primer to splatter, onto Leon’s face. “Aw, fuck.” He playfully cursed at himself and he couldn’t help but laugh. “I guess I’m ready for a coat of paint now.”
“Well, if you say so.” You dipped one of the brushes in paint and flicked it onto Leon's face. He looked at you surprised, he didn't think you would actually do this.
“Oh, so that's how you wanna play? It's on!” He also grabbed some paint and started chasing you. The two of you continued chasing each other around through the room and putting paint on each other. At some point Leon tackled you to the ground, he ran his paintbrush across your face, completely drenching your face in purple. You couldn't stop laughing so there was no way out for you. Both of your clothes were anything but white at this point and you looked like little kids messing around. Even Leon couldn't contain his laughter anymore, so he lay down beside you spreading his arms and legs out.
After you caught your breath again you turned toward him. “I give up. This wasn't a fight I was able to win!” You laughed and looked at Leon. His hair was completely messed up and he had colours everywhere, looking like a bag of skittles.
He let out a sigh and looked at you. “I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun while fighting.” He sighed and suddenly looked lost as if in thought. You raised an eyebrow and wanted to dig deeper but before you had the chance to say anything the door to the living room was opened.
In the doorframe stood Angel, looking at you both. You saw her mouth open in confusion, then close before finally finding the right words. “I… I won't even ask what's going on here. I just wanted to let you two know that I finished making dinner, if you want something to eat that is. But I'm afraid you will just paint the whole house when you come to the kitchen to eat so I’ll just bring the food to you.” Leon and you nodded and you gave her a sorry smile, worried she might have to clean all this up later.
Leon seemed to have read your mind since he spoke up to you. “Don’t worry about this. As soon as we’re done with painting we will clean it up, too.”
Both you and Leon sat up and simply laughed at each other, getting a good glance at each other’s painted faces. Angel came back in with two plates, both with steaming food piled on them. “Bon appétit." She stated as she crouched down to pass the food over, followed by two sets of knives and forks.
“Oooo koshari.” Leon thanked her with a nod as he accepted the plate of food.
“Thank you, Angel.” You said as she passed it to you. She simply raised her eyebrows at you.
“Need anything else?” She asked as she stood in the doorway, one hand on the handle. Both of you shook your head as your mouths were already filled with food but Leon made a symbol with his hand. Angel nodded and then shut the door behind her and left the two of you to eat.
“What did you say this was?” You asked Leon once you finally swallowed the food that was in your mouth.
“Koshari.” He replied. “It’s Angel’s favourite, her Mom always used to make it for her when she was younger.” He pointed towards it with his fork. “But keep in mind she always adds a lot of garlic, she’s obsessed with garlic.”
“Maybe she’s like the opposite of a vampire?” You suggested. “Rather than her running away and cowering from it, she’s attracted to it like a moth to a lamp?”
“I’ll have to ask her that at our next meeting. I’m sure Chris would agree with you.” He chuckled as he shoveled the rice into his mouth.
“Y’know you’ve mentioned Chris a few times but you’ve never actually told me anything about him.” Just as you asked that question Angel came back into the room with a bottle of whiskey and two glasses.
“Why don't you answer that question, Angel?” Leon looked up at her as she knelt on the floor beside the two of them.
She began to pour the whiskey into the two glasses, being careful not to overfill it with the combination of the ice. “What question?” She asked.
“What Chris is like.”
“Where do I even start with that?” She simply chuckled while she screwed the cap back onto the bottle and then placed it on the carpet beside the three of you. “I think that’s a story that I don’t have time for. Some of us have busy mornings.” She rolled her eyes as she got up, using the couch to help her. “Let me know if you need anything.” She said as she closed the door behind her.
“I didn’t know that the three of you worked together.” You took a small sip from your drink. “Does Chris have a snappy assistant too?”
“He does.” Leon took a drink from his glass too, but rather than a sip it was a pretty big gulp. “And if you think that Angel is bad then you should meet Daisy. Both of them are hard work and then even worse when they are together.” He put his glass back down on the carpet and picked up his plate again. “They both ignore the two of us and they just run away together. They are so lovesick around each other.”
“After what I’ve seen from Angel, I wasn’t sure she was capable of love.” You commented.
“Only for Daisy.” He replied. The two of you made casual conversation about Angel as you both ate her home cooked food. You learnt that she had been Leon’s assistant for around three years now and that she practically runs the house, she makes sure that everything gets done. You also learnt that whenever Angel cooks it’s always her home country's food, she refuses to cook bland “American” food and she will turn her nose at any dish with less than five different spices. While you ate you noticed just how many times Leon had filled up his glass while you had just finished your first glass, Leon was already on his third. You tried not to think too much of it and just enjoyed the food Angel made for you both.
“We should probably finish up this room, it looks like a mess in here.” You said to Leon after you were both done eating and drinking. He nodded and stood up, reaching a hand down to you to help you get up. You thanked him as he lifted you up with ease and you continued your work.
After a good two hour or so you finally finished the big room. You looked at it and were really satisfied by how it turned out. The living room you were in was now painted with a dark purple and some white extras. It looked very luxurious and you were excited to see it with all the right furniture. You felt Leon pat you on the shoulder. You looked up to him and saw he was happy as well. “I think we did pretty good so far. If we get some help we might be able to finish all of it tomorrow. After that we can place the furniture and this house can finally be called our home.” You looked at him with big eyes. Did you hear that right? It was probably just a mistake, right? “Anyway, I think we really deserve some sleep now, don’t you think, Buttercup?”
You simply nodded, a yawn escaping your mouth at that moment. You looked down at your dirty clothing. “What about this? Should we just leave it to use tomorrow?”
Leon gave you a nod before continuing to speak. “I probably have some clothes you can sleep in. Let's go upstairs and get ready for bed.” He opened the door for you and you walked up the stairs and into his bedroom again.
He walked in the closet, tossing you something to wear. Before leaving the room to change again you said “I’ll see you in the morning, Leon. Sleep tight.”
He looked at you confused and before you went out the door he walked to you and grabbed you by the wrist. You looked at him with big eyes, not knowing how to react to the sudden contact. “Stay.” You tried to say something but he didn't let you. “I mean- I know I don’t have an actual bed here but.. At least the mattress is very comfortable and.. We both could fit on it.” You never saw Leon so flustered and shy like in this moment. The way he looked at you made it impossible to decline his offer.
You put your free hand over his and looked him in the eyes. “Alright, I’ll stay here for the night.” He let go of you and as if nothing happened he walked away to change his clothes. “But you better not steal the blankets, Mr. Kennedy!” He put on some clean shorts and a muscle shirt, still revealing a lot of his muscular body. You tried your best not to stare and also changed into the clothing he gave you before. You then sat down on one end of the mattress waiting for Leon. You felt him laying down and even though you were on the same mattress it felt as if he was far away from you. That's what you get from owning a queen sized bed. You heard him shuffle around a little before feeling his finger tap on your shoulder.
“You can lay down too, y’know?” He told you. “I only got one blanket though, I hope you don't mind sharing it.”
You shook your head lightly before laying beside him. You felt him pull up the blanket and then cover you with it. A heatwave spread across your body and you hoped it only felt like that inside of you.
“Try to get some sleep. We need to be fit for tomorrow.” He told you as you turned around a little, unsure on how to sleep. “Goodnight, Buttercup.”
“Goodnight, Leon.” Just before your eyes were getting heavier you felt Leon coming closer to you, his breath tickling on your neck. And in just a few seconds you felt the darkness embrace and take you in the world of dreams.
As you wake up the next morning you realize that you´re alone in bed. You can hear some people talking downstairs, so you stretch and get up as well. In the hallway stand multiple people painting walls and moving furniture around. “Good morning, Buttercup.” You hear a voice next to you. You turn and see Leon holding a cup of coffee to you. You accept it and thank him for it. “How long have you been up for already?” You ask him, looking around to see how the house looks.
“Just a few hours. I slept longer than I’ve done in a long time. Thanks for that.” He gave you a smile which made your cheeks heat up. “I hope it's okay that they already continued working on the rooms. They all followed exactly what you wrote down, so I'm sure it will be perfect once they’re done.” Leon showed you around the house, leaving you without any words. The house actually looks like a place someone lives in and it feels much more alive. “The only room that is still missing a makeover would be the bedroom, but I didn't want to wake you for it. If you want to, we can finish it together.”
You took another sip from your coffee before giving Leon a thumbs up. “I would love to do that with you.”
After another few hours the house was completely finished with painted walls and furniture in every room. The workers already left and only you, Leon and Angel were now in the house. “Phew. I really like how it turned out. What do you think, Leon?”
He looked around some more and then turned to you. “I love it. You did a great job. Without you, this house would still look boring and empty. I’m glad you helped out.” You were used to Leon complimenting your design skills by now, but he made you blush once again.
“I have to say, maybe it wasn't too bad letting you inside that one day.” Another voice appeared from behind you. You were surprised seeing Angel and even more that she complimented your work.
“Thank you, Angel. I’m glad you two like it. Uhm.. would it be okay if I took some pictures? I'm sure my professor would like to see what I did the past few days.” Leon nodded and let you go.
“Angel? Would you mind sending them the pictures from before as well? I'm sure this would make it look good on their resume.” Angel nodded before also leaving Leon standing in the hallway. He let out a sigh of relief looking at his home. Now wherever he went in this house, you were a part of it and that's all that mattered to him..

Masterlist
Chapter 2: The Sketches
“It’s ten A.M. dumbass, get out of bed.” You woke up to the sound of your roommates voice and the feel of a pillow hitting your face. “We have our reservation in like fifteen minutes…”
The reminder of your scheduled fancy breakfast with your roommate managed to wake you up fully and you instantly ran into the bathroom to have a shower.
As you stood there with the water running on your skin you began to feel your head pounding. “Great, a fucking hangover.” You muttered as you turned the shower knob, stopping the water and leaving you cold. You stepped out of the shower with a towel hanging over your shoulders and sat down on the toilet seat. "Hey, can you maybe make me some tea or coffee or something? I got a headache, probably overworked or something" you lied, shouting to your roommate.
“Yea sure 'overworked', huh? Don't worry, I'll make something but get ready already!" You dried yourself with a small towel and put on some light clothes. A pair of shorts and a white shirt, it was hot outside due to it being summer and wearing anything other than shorts is a death sentence. You didn't feel like styling your hair so you just refreshed yourself, hoping you wouldn't look too bad. You stepped out of the small bathroom and were greeted by your roommate who handed you a glass of water with a pill. "I'm sure this will help more than just some tea.. after your 'overworking'". They winked at you and you feared they thought something different than what actually happened.
"Hey hey hey, that's not what happened okay? Imma tell you when we're eating, alright? But don't assume anything wrong, you hear me?" You laughed a little, but had to stop because of your headache. You took the glass of water and the mysterious pill, placing it in your mouth and then swallowing it with a gulp of water. You then saw your friend standing at the door, already wearing shoes and ready to go out. You sigh as you grab a pair of sneakers from under your bed, practically jumping straight into them.
“I read the reviews of this restaurant we’re going to and legit like all of them say that it’s super cold in there, you might want to grab your jacket.” They get the jacket off of the back of the door and hold it out for you to take.
“Thank you, thank you.” You accept the jacket and fold it over your arm as you place your phone in the pocket, but rather than it going straight in like normal, something is in there and blocks it from sitting perfectly. You place your phone in your back pocket and reach your hand into your jacket, pulling out a white envelope. The envelope was a little heavy and had a note written on it “This semester is on me, think of it as payment for agreeing to decorate my house - Leon S. Kennedy.” You slit the envelope open and it looked identical to your tips envelope, absolutely filled with cash. You let out a small gasp. "Holy shit."
You looked at your roommate who also looked at you and the envelope laying in your hand. "Yeah, holy shit. Are you working as a stripper now or how'd you get all the money suddenly?"
“Although I would be a great stripper… No.” You look at the cash, not knowing what to do with it. "I have to give it back. I can't just keep all.. this."
“Uh?! Yes you can!” Your roommate looked at you like you were an idiot. “That's like five grand there! If you’re not going to take it I will gladly take it for you!”
"No way! I can't just accept this money!” You close the envelope and place it on the desk on your side of your shared room. “This doesn't feel right, you know that." You thought about what you're going to do next. You looked between your friend and the money and decided you need to do the right thing. "I'm sorry, but I have to return it. As soon as I get my paycheck I will go out to eat breakfast with you, I promise! But I need to do this. Sorry." You grabbed the envelope again and walked past your roommate and out the door, giving them a look of excuse. They simply scoffed and slammed the door behind you.
As you sat outside on the curb you used your phone to look up where you were last night so that you could get Leon’s address. As you ordered your taxi it asked you for some contact details. “Kennedy.” You chuckled as you entered that as your last name, thinking it would be a funny joke. On your way you texted your roommate once again, apologizing for your behavior but not for your need to do the right thing. You sighed as you put your phone in your pocket and looked out the window.
After some time you arrived at what appeared to be Leon's home. You couldn’t really see it the night before since it was dark, but it looked even better during the day than you could have imagined before. You paid the taxi driver, with your own money this time, then left the car and went towards that big door. You looked for a bell but couldn't find one so you knocked against the thick wood, hoping someone would even hear it. After repeating this a couple more times and almost giving up, the door opens and you are greeted by a woman. She was wearing a white dress shirt and a black bustier over the top, followed by a black pair of trousers. Confused, you looked at her and then at the house, thinking you were wrong. "Can I help you with anything?" The woman asked, not even bothering to ask you inside.
"Uhm.." you stuttered, not knowing what to do in this situation. "I thought someone else lived here, but I guess I'm wrong. Sorry for bothering you." Something inside you actually hoped you typed in the wrong address. This couldn't be Leon's home, right? But it looked so similar? Maybe all the drinks added up over the night and made me remember this wrong..? You thought back to the day before and remembered how Leon was actually texting someone and didn't tell you a name or something. Maybe he actually has a wife or something and I misunderstood last night. Maybe he actually paid me to.. stay away? You shook your head. That's bizarre. Or is it?
"Who did you think lived here then? Maybe I can help you." You were taken back to reality from that woman's voice and looked at her.
Fumbling with your hands you tried to form a whole sentence, but all that came out was "Kennedy."
She looked at you. "Do you mean Leon Kennedy?" You nodded your head, still hoping you were wrong here. "Well, it appears you are right then. May I ask how you know him? I've never seen anyone like.. you here." It seemed to you she spit that 'you' out as if you were something less worthy than her. But maybe you were once again imagining things.
"Well, we actually met yesterday and he invited me to come over. I forgot to give something to him, so that's what I'm here for now. Can I see him now?" You looked at the woman standing in your way, trying to be confident.
“Mr. Kennedy is out of the house at the moment and he won’t be back for a few hours. I will tell him that you stopped by.” She stepped back from the door. “Bye now.” She practically slammed it in your face, the waft from the door causing your messy hair to blow backwards.
You rolled your eyes and sat down on the steps, exactly where you were sitting with Leon last night. You searched through your contacts and found Leon’s name. After tapping the call button it rang four times before you heard a rough “Hello?” come from the other side.
It took you back a little as it sounded like you had just woken him up. “Oh, hiya Leon.” You looked back at the front door as you began to talk. “I’m sitting on your doorstep right now…” You then looked back at the driveway, the pebbles and the green grass perfectly manicured. “I wanted to swing by to drop off that money you left in my jacket.”
“What, why?” He sounded confused. You could tell that he pulled the phone away from his face when he coughed, probably trying to clear his throat. “That money is for you, Buttercup.” He chuckled, making you blush a little. “You’re not supposed to give it back to me.” Sounds could be heard in the background as he talked but you couldn't tell what they were.
"Is there anyone with you right now?" You didn't even think about that question before it left your mouth.
"Don't worry about it. And also don't worry about the money. It's a gift, just accept it." You let out a small laugh.
"Just accept it? This is more money than I would make in two months! I can't just accept that, Leon! I can leave it with your girlfriend if you don't want to take it back, but I won't keep it." It was silent on the other side. You were worried you took it too far now.
But then, a chuckle and a full out laugh. "Girlfriend? I'm sorry, but you probably went to the wrong house. I don't have a girlfriend, partner or whatever, Buttercup." You could hear him still chuckle on the other side of the phone, but you didn't feel like laughing.
You felt kind of dumb right now. "Well, whoever that woman was, she just shut the door before me and left me sitting in front of it. So I guess I'm just gonna leave the envelope under the doormat." You looked around. There wasn't even a doormat. "YOU DON'T HAVE A GODDAMN DOORMAT? LEON S KENNEDY WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS?" You heard him laugh out loud again and didn't even try to stop him from it. You just sighed and gave it up. "Well, Mr. Kennedy, I'm gonna find a place to put that money. And don't even think of sneaking it back to me, you hear me?" You didn't even wait for an answer and just hung up. You sat on the stairs for a few more minutes thinking about what to do next.
Just as you stood up to leave you heard the door behind you opening again. "Mr. Kennedy just called me. He wants me to let you inside. Please take off your shoes here and.. don't touch anything." There is not even a thing to touch here, what do you want? You went through the doors and left your shoes next to them. The woman looked at you again before turning her back and walking away. So now you just stood there, in this empty, big house with a woman who doesn't seem to like your company.
Just like the night before you went through the entire house looking around, but also trying your best to avoid that woman. At some point you even found some paper and a pen and began drawing some rooms with fitting, and for now missing, furniture. After a while you felt your phone vibrating in your pocket so you put your drawing away and checked your messages. Apparently Leon tried to call you a few times but ended up sending you a message instead. You opened and read it. I'll be back home in a few hours. Please just accept the money, but stay for as long as you'd like to. I wanna see you again later. - Leon. You had to smile. Who even puts their name at the end of a message nowadays? You just replied with a quick 'alright' before putting your phone away again. You went back to what you were doing: planning and drawing the interior design of Leon's big ass home, all from memory from your tour last night.
You ended up placing all of your designs and sketches on the floor in what you assumed was supposed to be a living room. It just had two simple fabric couches facing each other in the middle of a giant room. Each design was placed in order, somewhat resembling the floorplan of the house. You didn't know how much time passed, but you began to feel tired and had to take a small break. Since you didn't wanna cross paths with that grumpy woman, you just stayed in that room. After some time of relaxing you felt really tired and didn't have any more motivation to plan the last few rooms. It must have been the combination of lack of sleep and whatever that pill was that your roommate gave you, so you ended up sitting on one of the couches and you began to close your eyes. Before you even knew it you fell on your side and into a light sleep.
The sound of a door slamming against the wall scared you half to death. As you looked towards the noise, you saw the same woman from earlier looking at you. “My apologies.” She smiled as she looked to the other side of the room. You followed her eyes and noticed she was looking at Leon. He was sitting opposite you with all of your sketches in his hands. You rubbed your eyes, trying to look somewhat alive. Leon didn't even look at her or you, he was way too focused on your drawings. Next to him you saw a laptop, where he seemed to type a few things in separate to going through your sketches. You sat up and slowly walked towards him. Without looking up from the drawings he talked to you. "These drawings are amazing. When did you make all of these?"
You were flustered by his actual interest. "Uhm.. I just made them for fun while waiting for you.. I didn't even take it seriously.." You scratched the back of your head.
"Are you kidding me? You probably.. no, you DID more for the interior design in the past few hours than I or Angel over there did in the past three years!" You were kind of confused by the name. Angel? Her? Was that supposed to be an unfitting nickname or her actual name? You didn't want to ask so you kept that thought to yourself. After Leon's comment Angel looked at you even more disgusted than before, it's a wonder that was even possible.
You wanted to ignore the weird feeling that stood in the room, so you just sat down next to Leon on the couch. "What are you doing on your laptop?" You wanted to look at it but before you had the chance to make out what he typed in earlier he closed it.
"Nothing special, don't worry about it." You sighed but didn't push it. After a few seconds of awkward silence between the three of you Leon stood up from the couch with his laptop, walked towards Angel and gave it to her. You looked at him confused, but he didn't even notice that. He said something to the woman but you couldn't understand it since they were so close to each other. You didn't know what, but a weird feeling spread in your body. Jealousy? You had to laugh out loud, which made the two look at you.
"Is there a problem?" Angel asked you, to which you answered with a head shake.
"I'm sorry, I was just thinking about... something funny." You saw Leon's lip lift up a little bit which made you smile a little bit, too. Angel turned back from you and Leon led her out the door to the main hall.
You could hear them talk for a few minutes before the door opened again and Leon came back in alone. "Soo.. now that you're awake, do you want to grab something to eat? We can drive somewhere or I'll just order something."
You thought about the offer, but instantly remembered why you came here in the first place. "No way, Leon! I can't take any more money from you. I actually came here to give you back that money you left in my jacket. It's good for you to have so much but I can't keep it! This doesn't feel right." You looked at him frustrated.
He just shook his head while laughing. "I told you it wasn't for nothing. You literally just proved me right with giving it to you after seeing your drawings. You earned that money."
You were kind of flustered but still couldn't just accept it. "Leon, it's really nice of you and I don't wanna argue. But you gave me way more money than these few sketches are worth! My roommate even thought I started working as a stripper!"
Leon looked at you with big eyes, then stepped closer to you. "Well.. have you considered working as one? They make a good amount of money and I'm sure you would do great." He winked at you as he laughed out loud and even though you knew he was joking you turned completely red.
"Leon...what. the. hell. No! Of course I didn't think about working as one! I'm happy with my current job.. I guess." You looked at him again, realizing how close he suddenly was to you.
"Well, if that's what you think, alright. But I'm not gonna miss that money and I'm sure you will bring it to good use. So please, stop arguing with me and just accept it." His smile had disappeared and his face was a little more serious, he really wanted you to take that money.
“I can’t, Leon.” You grabbed his hand from his side and placed the filled envelope in his palm. “It’s too much." He looked at you disappointed, as if all he just said meant nothing. "Whatever." He muttered to himself. It made you feel bad for your behavior but you knew it was the right thing to do.
You looked at him in a sorry way and wanted to walk past him. But he blocked the way. "That's all I came for, Leon. I think it's better I leave now. Your Angel is probably waiting for you already."
He scoffed at your comment. “I think you misunderstood something here. Angel is her actual name. If I had to give her a nickname it would be anything but Angel, believe me. She can be a pain in the ass, but she gets her work done. And that’s all that matters for me.”
You let out yet another sigh. Why were you relieved anyway? Whatever Leon is doing with women, or men, was none of your business. You’ve literally only known him for like a day and act like a jealous partner. “I’m sorry, I didn’t want to say it like that.”
“You don't have to apologize all the time, sweetheart. I thought it was cute.” He gave you a little wink and you felt your face heat up again. You looked away shyish and waited for his next move. But it appeared he did the same since he was just looking at you, waiting for you to say something. “Ehem..Food, right? I guess that´s what you wanted. Soo... Do you have anything special in mind?” He looked at you with a childish smile and simply answered “Just you wait, I have something great in mind.”
“Pizza?” You chuckled. “I didn’t think a fancy man like you ate peasant food like that.” You picked up your phone and began looking up a place that would deliver to Leon’s house
“Oh come on! Who doesn’t like pizza?” He shuffled over on the floor so that he was sitting beside you, looking at your phone. “The third one down.” He pointed at a restaurant named The Broadway. “That’s the best one around here, trust me, I’ve tried them all.”
“Alrighty.” You tapped on the phone number and as it rang you held it up to your ear. “Oh hiya! I’m looking to place an order for delive-”
“Pick-up. They only do pick-up.” Leon interrupted you.
“For pick-up!” You corrected yourself. When the worker asked for your name you couldn't help yourself. “For Kennedy.” Leon chuckled slightly and shook his head.
You ordered food for the two of you and some simple drinks to go with it. Of course Leon would get wine for the two of you but there’s nothing wrong with soda, especially when you’re already eating a greasy pizza. “Do we get Angel anything?” You asked Leon in response to the other person on the end of the call asking if anything else was wanted.
“She loves garlic bread, just get her some of that.” Leon replied, looking up from his own phone.
After the guy on the phone told you a time to pick up the food both you and Leon put on some shoes and went outside. “You gonna drive up to that poor pizza place with your fancy Porsche?” You asked jokingly.
To your surprise he actually shook his head. “You can choose the car if you want to. If you got a driver's license, you can even drive it yourself.”
You looked at him shocked. “Yea, sure. I’m gonna drive one of your expensive cars. Even if I had a license I wouldn't dare to sit down on the driver's seat. If I destroy it there's no way I'll ever be able to pay for the repair!”
“What’s one car more or less?” As he said that and you looked at him with an open mouth you heard a garage opening next to you. The bright lights kinda blinded you at first but as soon as you got used to the brightness you saw multiple cars and motorcycles standing in the big garage.
“Wow. What the hell.” That was all you were able to say at that moment. “I’m guessing that this is like your passion or a hobby?” You said as you walked in. Each vehicle was spotless, so clean that you could see your reflection in each one.
“Yeah, something like that, you could say.” As he was moving past the different vehicles he told you a little bit about all of them. Even though you had zero knowledge of cars and stuff you listened to him closely, trying to understand what he told you. You could see it in his eyes how he loved talking about these things, which made you smile.
After a good twenty minutes however you had to stop him. “As much as I love listening to you blabber away, I really wanna get our pizzas now.” Exactly at that moment your stomach began to growl, making you and Leon laugh.
“Well then, I hoped you listened closely. Go on and pick a ride.” He gestured around the both of you. You were thinking for a few seconds before finding a car you liked. You pointed towards it. “I like this one.” He followed your gaze and walked towards the car.
“I see. So you like the big ones, huh? Well then this Jeep Grand Cherokee is perfect for your needs.” He talked like he advertised the car which made you laugh and shake your head. He opened the passengers door for you before taking a seat behind the wheel. In just a few seconds the car left the garage and you found the both of you on the main road. Leon drove the car with ease which really fascinated you.His left hand was on the wheel and he was leaning on his right arm, he probably noticed you staring because he turned to you. “You wanna take over? The streets are empty here anyway.”
You shook your head again. “I meant what I said before. Just you drive now, I'm starving.” He looked back to the street and the rest of the drive went on quiet but nice. “I’ll learn to drive another day.”
Once you got back to Leon’s house Angel greeted Leon at the door, completely ignoring you. Leon tossed his keys to her and she caught them with one hand. As both you and Leon kicked off your shoes Angel hopped into the car and placed it back into the garage with the rest of them.
Leon led you to the kitchen and placed the multiple boxes on the counter, rather than sitting down he reached into a cupboard and pulled out two wine glasses. “Red or white?” He asked you.
“I don’t really want to drink tonight.” You admitted. That small hangover you had this morning wasn’t all that bad but you didn’t want to repeat it.
“Are you sure?” He asked, filling up both glasses with ice cubes. “I would hate to drink alone.”
“Fine.. but only one glass!” You gave in, to which Leon held both of the glasses up in confusion. “Huh? Oh! Red!” You replied to his earlier question. Leon nodded and opened up a small wine refrigerator he had under the counter, he picked up a bottle and read the label to himself. “Only the finest huh?”
“The finest thing is sitting right in front of me.” He chuckled and winked at you as he poured the two glasses, placing the fresh cork on the countertop. “So is this a business date where I hire you to be my interior decorator?”
“I’m only a student, Leon.” You opened one of the boxes and a waft of the smell of the food hit your senses, making you feel even more hungry than before.
“Whatever you say, student. This doesn’t change the fact that you already helped me a lot today. So this one is on you.” He raised his glass and with a cling both of yours met. You took a small sip and then took out a piece of pizza. “Besides, wouldn’t furnishing such a fancy house like this look really good on your resume?” You nodded slightly.
“Yea, you´re probably right about that, too. But let's not talk about work now and just enjoy the evening.” He gave you a smile before eating and drinking too. That evening seemed to never end as the both of you talked and drank, with no end in sight.
Maybe working for Leon wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

Masterlist
Chapter 1: Bourbon
“That’s gotta be moved over like two inches to the left.” You muttered to yourself. Your eraser ran across the sketches and removed the pencil lines that you had created earlier. Studying interior design was one of the best ways to secure you that internship you’ve been working so hard for.
“Yoo hoo!” A whistle was heard from beside you, your fellow colleague and best friend tapped you on the shoulder, pulling you out of your study-induced trance. “You’ve got another table to serve. They literally just sat down so make sure that you greet them.” You let out a sigh, laying your latest drawing to the side. On the way to the table you check your hair in a mirror before putting on a smile. You can see two middle aged men talking while looking at multiple files placed on the table. You walk toward them. "Good evening, is there anything I can get for the two of you?"
The larger man with the shorter hair began to speak for the both of them. “Two bourbons please.” He said simply.
“Will they be with ice?” You ask, beginning to write down their drinks order on your small notepad.
“Yeah I’ll have ice in mine please.” The one with longer hair requested with a polite point and a smirk. The other man simply shook his head at the question of ice. You smiled at the two of them as you turned around. A few minutes later you return with both of their drinks and put them in front of them, being careful not to spill anything over their work-stuff. They both thank you with a small nod before you go around to your other tables. A few hours pass and people come and go but these two men still sit at their table, talking, drinking and taking some notes. You went over to their table a few times that evening to refill their drinks or bring some small things to nibble on, but you couldn't find out what they were talking about. It seems that as soon as you went over to them they changed the subject. “A super secret mission.” You chuckled to yourself as you stood at the bar, packing your study materials away. You can’t clean a bar with books and paper all over it.
While cleaning you heard someone clear their throat and you looked up. In front of you stood one of the men, the one with longer hair. “Oh my, excuse me. Can I help you with anything?” The man chuckled lightly and looked at the mess in front of you. “My friend over there and I wanted to get another drink before paying. But it seems you are quite busy here.” You looked at the mess and then at him and you couldn’t stop yourself from checking him out. It seems he noticed it, but didn't say anything. “I’m sorry for that, it won’t happen again. I’ll deliver your drinks to your table right away!” The man nodded and went back to his friend, sitting directly opposite them but also facing the direction of the bar. You let out a small sigh before putting the books away and preparing the drinks for the men. The man never said what drinks he wanted but considering the two of them have only been drinking bourbon, bourbon was a good choice. Before starting you tightened your apron, greatly exaggerating your waist, although you could barely breathe you knew that it made you more attractive to patreons. The patreons liking you equals more tips. While making the drinks you made sure to add enough ice in the second drink, so they just might forgive you for your behaviour. As you placed the two glasses on your serving tray you noticed the long haired man give you a small smirk. You went to their table once more and put the beverages in front of them while smiling at both of them. You also left a bill on the table before heading back to the bar, the echo of your shoes making you feel anxious as you walked, causing you to begin holding your tray in both of your hands in front of your stomach. On your way back you heard one of the men say something, which made the short haired one shake his head. You were wondering if they talked about something you did but didn’t want to be rude and ask them about it. It was pretty late already so only a few other people were still at the restaurant. You wanted to get home at some point that night so you hoped that the last guests would be leaving soon. Just as you thought that, you saw the two men you were serving get up and leave the restaurant. Before going through the exit door the man with longer hair looked back at you and gave you a wink. You let out a small laugh and shook your head. You went to the table they left from to clean up and collect the money. You noticed a small note with something written on it. A phone number, you realised. “Call me ;)” was written beside it. You looked around and put the piece of paper in your pocket with a light smile on your face. That smile quickly turned into a shocked face though as you noticed a massive tip laying next to the bill. You didn't even know what to do, so you just stood there looking at the money. As you looked at the flurry of green bills you could hear footsteps behind you and soon your coworker stood next to you, also looking at the money.
“Well, someone seems to like you”, they laughed “Maybe those apron and shirt tricks you do work too well.” You shook your head and left your coworker standing there as they chuckled at their joke.
A little while later the restaurant was empty thanks to the closing hours, and you cleaned the last tables. But before you had the chance to leave as well, you saw the door opening once again. “I’m sorry, we’re closed!” You looked up and saw the long haired man standing in the doorway. Other than just his hair you could instantly tell it was him, the fancy suit helped a lot. “Did you forget anything? I actually think you left too much money when you left with your friend.” You picked up the cash that was placed in an envelope under the bar and began to get the money out of it. “I can give it right back to you, if that's why you came back.”
The man shook his head and slightly chuckled. “No, the tip was meant to be like that. I was actually wondering..”, he stepped closer toward the bar you were standing at. “..Why didn't you text me yet.”
You had to laugh. “Oh, I’m sorry. Maybe I didn’t have the time yet because I had some work to do and you left that note like ten minutes ago!” You chuckled yet again. “Trust me I was going to call you!”
Now it was his time to let out a dry laugh. “Yeah, I'm sure you would have. Anyways, now that I’m here again and it seems your work is done, how about we get your favorite drink together?”
“I mean we are closed…” You raised your eyebrows and crossed your arms over your puffed out chest. “But I’ll let you get a drink this one time.” He seemed satisfied with that answer so he sat down on one of the bar chairs, followed by him tapping the empty space next to him. “At least let me make your drink before I sit down!” You playfully rolled your eyes and began pouring liquor into a shaker. You noticed him looking at his phone after receiving a message from someone. “Someone at home is missing you already?” You asked jokingly as you placed your fruity, yet strong, favourite drink on the bar.
He shook his head. “Not at all. Just my.. Colleague asking what I'm up to.” He put his phone on the counter. You went around the bar and pushed a glass towards the man and sat down on the empty stool beside him. “I never got your name. I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours.” He smirked as he took a sip from the drink. “Not bad.”
You chuckled as you pointed at the name tag that was attached to your shirt. The man looked at you dumbfounded. “Well, this is awkward now. Doesn't seem like a fair trade anymore.”
“I’ll just hope that you were being respectful and you didn’t want to look at my chest.” You winked and couldn’t contain your laughter as you did up the buttons on your shirt, hiding the “money makers” as your best friend would call them. The man looked at your chest for a moment as you did up your buttons before quickly looking away. You could see his face get a little red, although you weren't sure if it was a reaction to what you just said or the alcohol finally showing effect. He cleared his throat and seemed to want to change the subject. “Ehem..the name’s Leon S. Kennedy, by the way.”
“Ooo S. Kennedy huh? Am I going to have to guess what the S stands for?” You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear as you talked.
“Go for it.” He laughed and took another sip of the drink.
“Uhhh… Steven?” A head shake. “Sam?” A no again. ”Sexy?” A chuckle but still a no. “Ugh I give up!”
“It’s Scott.”
“Scott, huh? Sounds kinda cute.” You laughed as you looked at Leon and then the clock behind him. “Even though we haven’t spent much of an evening together we’re going to have to call it quits, I have to lock up now.”
Leon turned around to look at the clock. “That’s a shame.” He turned back to face you. “Y’know I’ve got some drinks back at my place if you’re interested.” He raised his eyebrows as he asked for the date to continue.
You thought about the offer for a moment, you didn’t have any classes in the morning so maybe it would be fun. “Wine?” You asked and he replied with a nod. As the two of you stood up from your stools you quickly paced around the restaurant making sure everything was perfect. The lights were off. All of the switches were off. And finally the security alarm was turned on. You shuffled Leon along as you left the restaurant, making sure that he wasn’t trapped in there when you locked the door. “Alright, that’s everything!” You placed your keys into your work bag and slung it over your shoulder. As the two of you walked to the parking lot you looked down at your phone and secretly texted your roommate saying you were going to be out much longer than anticipated and that your location was being shared with them. Just in case.
Leon fished his keys out of his pocket and tapped a button on the car keys, causing a nearby car to light up. With the size of that tip that Leon left an expensive black sports car belonging to him shouldn’t have been a surprise. “Woah! What car is this?” You asked, not knowing anything about cars apart from the fact that most of them have four wheels.
“It’s a Porsche Nine-Eleven.” He replied. “It’s my favourite.”
“Your favourite? Meaning you have multiple cars?” You questioned. “Can I borrow one? I don’t even have a car.” You chuckled as you opened the door to the luxury car. Leon chuckled too as he got into his seat and tapped a few buttons on the dashboard. The entire car began to roar as it’s engine was turned on, making your entire body shake. Making your entire body heat up. “Is it hot in here or is it just me?” You asked.
He chuckled. “It’s because your heated seat is on. I can turn it off if you would like.”
As the car traveled you looked out of the window and when turning to your left you noticed that the lights in the car softly lit up Leon’s face as he drove the car. Showing off his sharp jaw and slight stubble.
After a twenty minute drive you step out of the car onto the gravel driveway and you hear the stones crunching underneath your feet. Leon walks up beside you and leads you up the stairs to the front door. Reaching into his front right pocket he pulls out his keys and unlocks the double doors, allowing you to walk through before he did so too and then close the door behind him. “Woah! You have such a cool house!” The large modern chandelier reflected onto the marble flooring in the entryway. Leon kicked off his shoes and pushed them over to the side of the wall, prompting you to do the exact same. “You have no idea how much I hate these shoes, they are so uncomfortable, especially when you wear them for twelve hour shifts without sitting down.”
“Why on earth do you wear them if they hurt you?” He asks as he takes off his jacket, hanging it up on a coat rack beside the door. He reaches out his hand to take off yours as well, to which you respond with a smile. You turn around and he carefully takes it off of you, followed by him then placing it on the coat rack next to his own.
"I don't have much to choose from when it comes to clothing. Just in general our work uniforms aren't really the best of the best."
Together the two of you went into the kitchen and you sat at a bar stool, leaning on the counter. As you waited for Leon to fix you up a drink you noticed just how empty the house has been so far. “Wow it’s quite empty, going for the minimalistic vibe huh?”
Leon shook his head as he placed two wine glasses down on the counter, both with ice. “I just haven’t gotten around to decorating this place yet.” He poured both glasses full and sat then leant on the counter in front of you, placing your drink next to your hand. “I mean I’ve only been here for like 3 years but I’m a busy man.”
You picked up your drink and almost dropped it after hearing that response. "Three years? You must be reaaally busy if you didn't have time for at least some decoration. What are you doing all the time anyway?" You took the drink and a small sip before standing up with it still in your hand. Leon looked at you kind of confused, but following you nevertheless. You walked around the kitchen, then the other rooms. You were talking nonstop about the stuff Leon could put on the walls, the floor or just anywhere really. He couldn't even say anything because it seems you were in your own world already planning the entire interior design of his house. Leon was following you through all the rooms as if he was actually visiting you and not the other way around. While planning the designs for Leon’s home you realised just how excited you were to do this officially as a job in the future. Creating your own interior design company and being your own boss was something you had in mind ever since you were a child. After who knows how long you both finished your drinks and also the house tour. You ended back at the kitchen where you started and both sat down on what seems to be the only chairs in this humongous house. Leon went away for a few seconds before returning with yet another bottle of what appeared to be some expensive wine. “You’re not just trying to get me super drunk so you can kidnap me, right?” You asked him jokingly, but also slightly worried. After all, what were you doing here in a complete strangers house?
“If I was going to kidnap you I would have done it already, buttercup.” You gulped but shrugged it off after looking at Leon, who smiled at you. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad being kidnapped by him. He's got quite the nice home after all. Leon stopped you in your thoughts as he handed you a glass of wine. "It's really good, trust me. Nothing against your favourite drink, but still very tasty." You took a little sip from the wine and looked at him with big eyes.
"Wow. This is actually really good. I've tasted many different brands of wine but never one like this. You do know your stuff, huh?"
He let out a small laugh which also made you smile. You didn't know if it was the alcohol but you suddenly felt really hot sitting so close to this handsome man. "Anyway, what are you doing besides working at that restaurant? I saw some school books at the bar earlier, were they yours?"
You nodded lightly. "I'm currently studying Art and Design but I needed some money to even afford all that stuff. So that's why I ended up at that restaurant." He looked at you, maybe even a little sad. But maybe you just started imagining things.
"You don't have any family that supports you or anything?"
You shook your head. "That's kind of a difficult topic. My parents aren't really what they used to be after.. well, let's just say some inconveniences." You took another big sip, showing Leon that you didn't wanna talk about it anymore. Even though he wanted to ask, he stopped himself before ruining the whole evening, or well, night. You sighed and looked at him. "On our tour I think we missed the bathroom. Mind showing me the way?" He nodded and led you through the house. As you were in the bathroom Leon went up to his workroom and picked up an envelope. He went downstairs again and hid the filled envelope in one of your jackets' pockets. After a while you rejoined him in the kitchen looking really tired. "Leon, I don't wanna sound rude but I’ve had a long day and I think I really need some sleep. Do you mind calling me a taxi?" He saw just how tired you were so he didn't try to make you stay any longer. He grabbed his phone, called you a taxi and gave you some money for it.
You wanted to decline, but Leon didn't want to argue so you had no chance but to pay with his money. "I brought you here in the first place so the least I can do is pay for your ride home", he said. You both then went to the entrance where Leon helped you put on your jacket. After that you both sat down outside on the stairs waiting for the taxi to arrive. Neither of you said a word, but it wasn't a weird silence, you both really enjoyed each other's company and after a few moments of sitting on the cold stairs a car arrived. Leon brought you to the door and you told the driver your address. You gave Leon a small wave as the taxi began to drive off...
