Change with the Tides (Part 7)
You felt cold stone before you had even opened your eyes. When you opened them, your hands were bound and a gag covered your mouth.
Jester and Fjord were huddled together in a corner, chained and gagged. Yasha was nowhere to be seen.
As you shuffled toward the two, you became all too aware of the tiefling body you were in, although the clothes were still yours. You closed your eyes and tried to drop the form, but no change was happening, and the weight of horns still drove into your head.
A muffled voice came from the corner, and you looked over to Jester staring at you. She tries to speak through the gag again, and you know whose name she’s saying.
You shook your head, still trying to shift as the tears started streaming down your face.
You wanted to scream. You wanted to rip Lorenzo limb from limb.
The door opened, and a quick pull on your chains had you rolling towards Lorenzo. When you were at his feet, trying to sit up with your hands behind you, he lifted you by the collar of your shirt, his mouth mere inches from your face.
“Shift.” he whispered, spit hitting your face.  When you didn’t immediately complete his demand, he gripped your shirt tighter, punching you hard in the stomach, winding you. As you hunched in the air, he dropped you.
Your knees gave out as you hit the stone, still attempting to catch your breath when a boot came flying towards you. Lorenzo’s foot hit you right in the nose, and you reeled back.
“Don’t worry, we’ll fix you.” He smirked, grabbing your chain and dragging you out of the cell, Fjord now awake and shouting through his gag beside Jester.
Beat to shit, you’re returned to the cell, a swollen eye and cuts all over you, bruises on your arms and neck.
It’s almost impossible for you to stay awake, you're just curled against the wall you were thrown at.
Maybe a day or so later of you, Fjord, and Jester all slipping in and out of consciousness, you hear a collection of loud crashes beyond the cell. The unmistakable sound of Caleb’s heavy accent and Beau’s shouting fills you with hope.
Once the crashes subside, you listen through the silence, unable to move as the door creaks open, waking up Fjord and Jester.
The tiny, unmistakable form of Nott is standing in the doorway. The goblin smirked in the doorway.
“Case closed.”
Nott works quickly to unbind Jester, then moves to help you while Jester undoes Fjord's chains.
As you all leave the cell behind, you try once again to shift. A firbolg, tall and pink hair, looks at you quietly. You see Beau drag an unconscious, but healed, Yasha from a separate cell.
Caleb and Beau both freeze when they see you.
“Where’s Y/N?” Jester says, a hint of panic in her voice.
Beau, Nott and Caleb all look at you.
“Jester.” You start saying, taking a very slow step towards her, your voice your own, rough and scratchy but still yours. “I’m sorry.”
The thought seemed to click in her head. Her hands covered her face as tears pooled in her eyes .”Where’s Molly?” Her voice broke.
“He didn’t make it.” Beau said, talking gentler than you’ve ever heard.
“Was it when we heard you guys? In the caravan? I heard you call for Molly!” Full tears streamed down Jester's face. You tried to shift again. To make your appearance anything but Mollymauk.
“He tried his best.” Nott said, barely louder than a whisper, “He got right in Lorenzo’s face. He just wasn’t strong enough.”
“We got cocky, and underestimated our enemies.” Beau again, still looking at you. Her eyes had been on you since you emerged from the cell. “Y/N, for fucks sake shift into someone else.”
You flinched at the anger in her voice, and while you tried to think of how to explain what was happening, Fjord spoke for you, a gentle hand on your shoulder.
“I don’t think they can at the moment. Lorenzo was trying to make them shift.” He touched his own broken nose, “Was kind of pissed they couldn’t actually. It’s probably the only reason Y/N is still here, Beau.”
“Let’s just get out of this dungeon. These assholes have to have something expensive we can sell.” Beau said, and others followed.
You watched them walk up the stairs, Jester and Fjord helping each other walk.
Caleb was the last person in the line. When he reached the bottom of the stairs, he turned to you, holding a hand out, one foot on the bottom step. “Come on, Y/N, we’ll figure it out together.”
And you took a few steps, reaching toward Caleb, and the wizard helped you up the stairs as much as he could.
Unknown to you and Caleb, the purple of your skin faded lightly.

Change with the Tides (pt. 6)
A/N I just did one episode here. Also, I apologize in advance.
You had shared a tent with Jester, so the first thing you noticed was the lack of excitement and blue as you woke up.
Maybe she was just making breakfast. So you crept outside.
There was no Jester. No Fjord. No Yasha.
Panic crept in as you woke up the others. Everyone's stuff was untouched, there was no sign of any of them, you didn’t even remember hearing Jester get back from watch last night.
Molly had been especially nice to you since that night in Hupperdook. Even now, he kept close to you while you searched.
You snapped your head up at the sound of Beau shouting, along with a voice you didn’t recognize.
As you run over towards the shouting match, you take note of the Dwarven form, shifting your features to your usual human form. The Dwarf, a woman named Keg, explained that the rest of the Nein were taken by a slaver group called the Iron Shepards.
You had heard of them. A few of the orphanage owners would threaten to sell you to them when you misbehaved. They held it above your head how valuable you’d be on the market, how easy it would be to get rid of you.
A day later, you’re crouched beside Keg waiting for the Iron Shepards to walk into your path. You hadn’t dropped your form once, and the others made sure that you were able to shift before Keg saw you.
It was hard to stop shifting into Fjord, Jester, or Yasha in your sleep, and it was definitely affecting everyone. Beau was unusually silent, she had barely spoken to you after she had shaken you awake because you had accidentally shifted into Jester.
Soon, the Shepards crossed the line, and Keg cut down the tree to stop the caravan.
Spells ricochet through the air as Nott runs into a cart and vanishes. Soon, you're fighting against Ruzza, and as you strike at her over and over again, you feel a blast of cold wind, and look over towards Lorenzo.
Molly and Beau both charge toward him, and as you try to separate yourself from the fight with Ruzza, you watch Molly run towards Lorenzo, drawing his sword across his own chest and he does.
For a moment, can’t see anything else, just the purple teifling crashing to the ground.
Your hesitation gave Ruzza the advantage, and she tackled you to the ground.
A cart divided you from the others.
You watched in horror as Lorenzo held his wicked glaive above Mollymauk's chest, pressing slowly into his scarred chest.
You screamed.
Molly spat blood at Lorenzo’s face.
Lorenzo twisted the glaive.
You kept screaming.
You felt your body shift again, heard Ruzza curse, and felt a cold prick at your neck.
And as you faded from consciousness, you watched Molly. You watched the breath leave his chest, the blood trickle from his lips.
You watched as Mollymauk Tealeaf’s eyes never closed, even as yours did.

Change with the Tides (Part 5)
A/N: Wow ok. Several months later and here’s the next part, so sorry for the wait, life was… interesting for a bit there.
The next day or two were long and hard, meeting with a strange woman named Calianna, who thought that you and Fjord were siblings and that Nott was Fjord’s daughter. You spent most of the time around Calianna stressed and not very well rested, careful not to drop your form as you made your way to the safehouse.
After nearly getting sprayed by a mantrap plant, and as the casters all blast it with spells and cantrips, Fjord finishes it off with a Witch Bolt.
Beau and Fjord both notice a troll in the trees,
But, you all managed to defeat a troll and clear out the merrow infesting the safehouse, and here you were, waiting for Caleb to finish identifying some treasure, Calianna having left the day before, soaked to the bone, cold, and thoroughly beaten. While waiting, you play around with your shape water cantrip, making various shapes and creatures appear and shift.
“Fjord!” you hear Caleb shout, and as you whip your head around you see him slumped over, hand brushing against the cat’s eye stone Caleb was working with. You watch in horror as he sits on his knees, eyes glazed over, and pushes the stone into his chest.
Fjord's eyes clear, and you grab his upper arm, Jester on the other side of him, pulling him away from the pool he was half in.
“What the fuck was that? What just happened?” Nott screeches, other members asking similar questions as you and Jester peel back his undamaged armour. There’s not a scratch on the half-orc.
As Fjord finishes the story, he tells you about an old captain of his, Vandran, who did the same thing with the orb in the vision as he did.
After a brief moment of panic, you all split and prepare to walk back through the swamp, using dynamite to blow up the narrow passage.
While exiting, you spot Fjord staring at his sword, and you swore that you could see the orb resting on the hilt as you approached him.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m not sure. Vandran was the closest thing I had to a father. When our ship was sabotaged, I thought he had died.” he rubbed the back of his neck. “When I was thrown overboard I was knocked unconscious. When I woke up, I was on a beach, and I had this sword.”
After that, Jester sends a message to the Gentleman, letting him know you finished your first mission.
A brief fight with a venom troll later (Fjord looking a little beat up, given he fell unconscious twice) and you all make your way back to Berleben. Paying for rooms in The Drowned Nest instead of Keystone Pub, you find yourself curled up between the two teiflings, your own form shifting to include a teiflings tail and horns.
That day, the Nein start the journey to Shadycreek run, stopping through a roadside market, getting attacked by some very terrified bandits, and eventually making it to Hupperdook.
As the lights fade, gnomes surround the Nein, rushing into various taverns and lighting fireworks.
As you watch the chaos unfold, your heart aches as you watch families race through the street or having picnics.
Suddenly, you felt a hand on your wrist and spin you around. Looking up at bright red eyes and glittering gold jewelry, Molly smiled as he dragged you toward a collection of fireworks guards by Beau.
“You should relax, have some fun Y/N” Molly whispers in your ear while slipping a necklace of cloth flowers over your head.
“I’ll have to take you up on the offer Mollymauk” You say, and you’ll admit, you leant into the warmth of the teifling a little.
A drinking game later, and you were letting your form shift and ripple, to tired (and drunk) to bother putting effort into stopping it. None of the gnomes seemed bothered by it either, children asking you to change into fun colors for them.
Molly reaches for you hand once more, pulling you onto the dance floor where Jester and Caleb already danced together. Your form, now a air genasi, sparkled in the light, your lighter-than-air hair wrapping around Molly’s horns as you spun together.
When you started stumbling over your own feet, the purple teifling scooped you into his arms, taking you up to your room and (kind of awkwardly) laying you one the bed, your form shiting to your normal white as you fall asleep.
As you drift asleep, you swear you fell a warm hand brushing the hair out of your face and a small kiss on your cheek.
~Next Morning~
Your heads spinning, and you look over to see a feathered face inches from your own,
“WELCOME TO THE MIGHTY NEIN”
Groans echo from the others. Followed by a frustrated yell from Beau.
The day went by in a bit of a blur, and by the time the sun set, the Nein had their coin purses, a family was reunited, and Kiri was curled into Jester as they said goodbye.
You all left the next day, the cart rolling away to Shadycreek Run, stopping for the night in a small clearing…
I apologize for the next part…

Hey guys.
I need your help. I got a job maybe a few months ago and my mental and physical health have done nothing but deteriorate. So to destress I started making D&D maps and character minis. I can see myself doing it full time, but I need more commissions, I'm from a small town, there aren't a lot of GMs or players around me, the few I've gotten were maps for one-shots. Everything will be CAD, and nothing will cost over $50 apiece.
Even if you don't play D&D/tabletop games, but know someone who does, it would be a huge help. Feel free to shoot me a dm, or message my discord failedskillcheck#5249

Change With The Tides (part 4)
A throbbing headache wakes you, you feel the cart moving underneath you, and listen as the garbled words of the Mighty Nein become clearer.
“Of course I’m angry, how are you so calm about this?” Beau’s voice, near the back end of the cart.
“Because I trust them.” Caleb said, “Y/N was probably afraid of us acting how you're acting right now, Beauregard.”
“Changelings can’t be trusted.”
“Neither can Goblins.” Nott’s quiet voice said. She must be riding with Caleb then.
“You’re different, Nott. You didn’t hide it for as long as they have, Y/N should have said something.” You open an eye and wince at the sun. From what you can tell, it’s around noon. Molly is sitting at the end of the cart, his legs dangling over the edge. The cart rolls over a rock, making you groan in pain.
Molly is beside you in an instant, hand under your head to help you drink some water.
“Easy love, that poison was no joke. Jester only had enough magic to bring you back to consciousness, so you’ve been resting for a few hours.”
“Does everyone know?” You ask, looking down at your white hands, not bothering to shift back.
“Yeah. We understand why you didn’t tell us.” You looked over at Beau, who was watching beside the road, which Molly noted: “Beau’s just a little hurt, she’ll get over herself.”
“Y/N? I can hear you talkin’ back there!” Fjord says, turning around and smiling down at you. He gave the reins to Jester and climbed into the back. “You gave us quite the scare back there, how are you feeling?”
“I’m alright. Is everyone else ok?” A nod as he helps you sit up and Molly moves to the front. Beau is suddenly riding across from you, pointing out a dark shape on the hillside to Fjord, no cloud matching the shadow in the sky. While watching the shape, it glistens in the sun.
Soldiers.
You must have said it out loud, because worry creeps onto Beau’s face and Molly takes the reins and speeds up, hoping to beat the army to the crossroads ahead. The cart veers onto the grass, and you hear Molly swear as two wheels break, tipping the cart backwards and causing you to roll out.
“Jester, can you mend the wheels?” Fjord asks as the army gets ever closer. You see several horsemen approaching, and panic as Fjord helps you up and tells you to shift.
You feel your form shifting, shivers running down your skin as you take on a half-orc form, mirroring Fjord's features. “Sorry, I couldn’t think of anything else.” You wince as he looks at you, Fjord himself now dressed as a Crownsguard. Nott darts past you into the tall grass to hide as the soldier's approach and circle the cart.
You keep quiet while the Nein asks for assistance with the wheel, rubbing a sore part of your arm.
“We’re headed to Labenda.”
“Labenda? I wouldn’t wish that on my worst foe.” He says, laughing out the last word, “Well good luck. I am Captain Maximillion from Druvenlode.”
“And where are you headed, Captain?” You ask, smiling. It was rare for you to meet someone from a town you hadn’t spent time in, you were curious.
The Captain looks at you up and down, smirking as he says “The forces of the Empire are heading east to keep the rest of you safe. Now let me see what I can do to help you with your cart.”
The Captain rides off, and while the others socialize with the soldiers, you walk over to where Caleb was standing, his back toward the carriage and looking over the tall grass.
“I overheard you talking to Beauregard. Thank you for defending me, it’s rare for me to come across that.”
“Jah, I understand your reasons. But I think you need to talk to her.”
“I will. Not now, but later.” You turn and look back at the scowling monk, “She still needs to cool off.”
The Captain returns and the cart is quickly repaired. The Captain joins the army, and you have to wait for the rest of the army to cross the road. When they do, Jester leans over to whisper a question in your ear. You smile and give her a tight hug.
When you pull back, you turn into an identical copy of her. She squeals, “Now do Yasha!”
At the mention of her name, Yasha lifted her head, and when you looked back at her, she started before chuckling a little. You went through the rest of the Nein, getting laughs from all of them, especially from Nott. You couldn’t shift down to her size, but you could get close. You’ve never chosen a form with such big ears, and you had to take a moment to get used to the feel of them.
You turned to Beau, dropping Nott’s form and looking at her in your normal form before slowly shifting into a copy of her, not breaking eye contact as you mirror her movements. Moving your copper-wire pendant closer to your chin, you whisper into it. “I didn’t tell you, and I’m sorry.”
Silence, and then, “I’m sorry too.”
You smile, stretching as you shift into your true form and sit near Caleb reading a book as you travel, a thunderstorm rolling over the hills as you make camp. As you curl up next to Jester, you fall asleep, for once not worried about shifting in your sleep.
As you wake up, Jester’s tail is curled around your ankle, her back to you. You all pile into the cart and head into the swamp, you get Fjord's attention. “When we get to town is it alright if I use that half-orc form? I liked it.”
“Of course Y/N, I don’t mind.”
Usually, people were hesitant to allow you to mimic them at all, so Fjord agreeing surprised you. You spent a few minutes with Jester perfecting the form, but were interrupted by a strange bird cry.
After you and Jester rush to see what the noise was, the Mighty Nein rush towards a large crocodile, who is slowly approaching a bird-like humanoid. As you all approach, you notice a second gator creeping to attack from the other side. After an intense and bloody battle, Jester heals the little bird, who, although clearly intelligent, only repeats what you say. You learn that her name is Kiri, and that her family was travelling west to escape the mountains to the east where the skies went dark.
As you check the gator's stomachs, finding feathers and small bones, you look back at Kiri, who is currently being fawned over by Jester.
As you start back towards the cart to drive to Berleben, you stop Fjord and Beau, “What are we going to do about Kiri? We can’t just travel with a child…”
“There might be an orphanage nearby,” Beau says,
“No.” You say at the same time as Fjord. “We’ll figure out a different solution. Find a family somewhere who can take her in.”
You all agree that that’s the best call, and ride on towards the functional and miserable-looking village. Following the Gentleman's instructions, you buy a room in The Keystone Pub, before meeting Febron Keyes. After a painful negotiation to get him to escort you to the safehouse, you crawl into your damp room and fall asleep to the voice of Jester telling Kiri the story of Tusk Love.

Change With The Tides, 3/??
A/N: Hi y'all! Happy Halloween!!! This one's a little shorter than normal, I only covered 2x19 in this one. Have a fun and safe Halloween everyone!
Over the next day, we headed back down to the Evening’s Nip, got two new jobs from The Gentleman, clearing out a safehouse in Labenda and helping out an old friend of his, Ophelia Mardoon. The Gentleman paid you all the advance fee of 750 gold for both jobs, as well as a healing potion and one for diseases. As you leave the underground chamber Caleb pulls you aside “Come with me.” and he drags you down the streets of Zadash, Beau following close behind.
“If you’re going to be learning magic, you’ll need supplies, Pumant has some parchment and ink you can buy.”
Beau catches up to you, keeping pace as you all jaunt towards the Pentamarket, “Why do you want to learn magic, you seem pretty good as a rogue?”
“Everyone assumes I’m good as a rogue, between my job and my past, it’s what people expect of me. Magic gives me an element of surprise.”
Beau gives you a quizzical look, and you reach the store.
Inside is a cool, empty store. Empty except for the two identical firbolgs moving about the store.
“If I could please have about 100 golds worth of paper, and some incense as well please.” Caleb asks the one at the counter, more animated than you had seen him.
“They’re arcane copies, and there’s more.” Beau approaches Pumat as Caleb picks up his product “Pumat! I heard you had bracers, how much?”
“Oh that’ll be 1200 gold.” You cough at the price, which is masked by Beau swearing, and promising that she’ll come back when she’s rich before leaving.
You all head back over to where the others are waiting by six horses and a cart. Two horses were attached to the cart, and four others were by themselves.
“Here Y/N,” said Fjord, passing you the reins of one of the horses, “Why don’t you ride solo?”
You took the offer and mounted, heading out of the city. You hesitate for a bit once you reach the road, looking back at Zadash. A cloud of doubt swarmed your thoughts, memories of the past five years flashing before your eyes. Sure, you’d been a criminal, but everyone who worked for the Gentleman knew you were to be respected, and what you could do. Being the Gentlemans top employee had guaranteed you protection that you hadn’t known for the first 18 years of your life.
You felt a hand on your shoulder, and looked over to see Molly, “You comin’ or what?”
You nod, and you and Molly gallop towards the cart.
Setting camp that night, the cold started creeping in as you huddled closer to the fire. Fjord and you took the first watch, and as the rest of the Nein fall asleep, you do a brief perimeter check and then sit down on a log beside him.
“Fjord, can I ask you something?”
“Uh sure Y/N, what’s up.”
“Are you ok with Nott? Her being a goblin could get some attention. And Yasha, she’s from Xhorhas isn’t she?”
“I mean why wouldn’t I be alright with it. They might be judged by people who don’t know them, but I think I know them pretty well, they seem alright.” He hesitates and then turns to you, “Where’s all this coming from anyway?”
“Let’s just say, hypothetically, I haven’t been entirely honest with who, or rather, what, I am.”
“Ah, then hypothetically, I’d say, you’ve fought by my side and you’ve saved Jester’s life, so I think you’re a good person.” He stoked the fire, staring into the flame. “It doesn’t matter to me what you are, just who you are.”
“What about Changelings?” You say, standing in front of him as you shed your disguise, shifting instead to a red tiefling, then you shift to your actual face and body, pure white with several pink scars on your face, arms, neck. Fjord looks at you for a moment, jaw open in shock.
“Y/N…” he starts, and your heart drops, “This is, honestly, very impressive. Why haven’t you said anything until now?”
You shift back to your normal form, sitting back down, “People have a tendency to sling insults at me. I got a hold on a book about Changelings once, and it said that we were spies and liars. That we were better off dead. I’ve learned a lot about people, how to tell the honest ones from the fakes.” You check over your shoulder, eyeing Caleb and Beau, “I can’t control my shifting sometimes, it fades when I sleep, or when I get scared. How do you think the others will react when I wake up and I don’t look human?”
“They’d get over it. Why’d you tell me now?”
“Because I trust you, and no one else is awake. Orphan to orphan, you understand some of what I’ve experienced.”
Fjord fell silent, placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder before going and waking Beau and Yasha for their shift.
The next day, you wake up and head further down the road to Labenda Swamp. You stayed up most of the night, and were almost falling asleep in your saddle, a behavior not unnoticed by Caleb. When you fall behind a third time, he slows down and joins you in the back.
“Late night?”
“Just not used to sleeping on the road, that’s all.”
“Nein, that’s not what kept you up last night.” Caleb said softly, glancing at you briefly.
“Very perceptive, magic man.” You sighed, “What do you know about Changelings?”
“Sadly, very little. Every book I read says that they are deceptive creatures who can’t be trusted.”
“Do you believe that?”
“I think that it depends on the Changelings' hearts. If they are good natured or not. Take Nott, she’s a Goblin, and sure, some of her is a little, what is it, rough around the edges, but deep down, she is a good person. Ja, a good person. Did you see a Changeling last night?”
“No, just a dream that kept me up about one.” Not a whole lie, since you did dream about yourself being discovered by the Nein and thoroughly prosecuted for it.
The party stops, and Molly, Fjord, and Yasha (with Frumpkin on her shoulders) approach a small cabin while you and the others stay with the cart, Caleb watching through Frumpkins eyes. When they come back, Molly is holding a burlap sack full of dried meat, as well as hide armour.
You start walking again until the sun sets, and then you sleep in the cart, facing away from the others and toward the side of the cart.
Suddenly, you wake up to a shout, and the rest of the Mighty Nein are springing into action. You spring up, and start attacking a goblin that’s clawing at the cart. As you finish the goblin and move to help Fjord, he gets close enough to whisper yell “Shift!” as you swing your sword.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Thankfully, no one seems to pay attention, and as you look towards the others, Nott is pointing a crossbow at Caleb.
Everything seems to slow down as you watch her fire, and your ears ring with Caleb’s voice. Nott was good. Caleb thought she was good. But she just launched a crossbolt into his chest.
You hear a shout from your left, and Yasha is screaming, two black skeletal wings blasting out of her back, one of them hitting you and sending you flying into a tree. You feel wetness at the back of your head, and as you try to stand up again, leaning on your sword, you falter. Wincing as you crumble to your knees, your vision gets fuzzy, and you lay down on your side.
One spell you’d learned, and one you were confident in using. Message. You took the copper wire you wore on a chain, keeping an eye on the purple tiefling dancing circles around one of the wolves, twisting the wire and whispering into it “Molly, help,” a pair of cloth wrapped feet blocked your view, “Shit, Molly hurry.” as you put down the wire and lifted your sword to block the incoming goblin attack.
You couldn’t shout out, all your focus was going into keeping the poisoned blade of the goblin away from your neck. While holding there, your disguise dropped. The goblin was suddenly pulled from you, thrown away, its sword scratching your cheek.
Beau was above you, and you watched her mouth move, but you couldn’t hear anything, mumbled words as the world went dark, whatever poison was on the blade bringing you to Oblivion.

Change with the Tides Part 2/??
A/N: I have no idea how to right combat. Hopefully the next ones won't be so long!
Recap: The Gentleman nodded, and you ran to pack your things. Fjord said something about the Leaky Tap, so you headed over. Right away, Jester threw her arms around you.
“Welcome to the Mighty Nein!”
You spent the next few days lying low with the Nein, trying to do as much as you can to bond, including taking skein with Molly and Beau and taking a trip to the ethereal plane. Neither of them fully trust you, you can tell, Beau even less than Molly.
One afternoon, Caleb, Yasha and Nott all go to The Invulnerable Vagrant, asking if you’d like to tag along. Somehow, Caleb manages to spend 200 gold on paper and ink.
“I didn’t know being a wizard was so expensive,” You say as he picks his merchandise off of the counter.
“Ja, it’s definitely not a poor man’s path.” He answers, watching Nott pick up a flask she had ordered earlier. You all say goodbye to the multiple Pumat Sols and go back to the Leaky Tap. You check on your belongings, making sure your books are still there and get an idea, so you head over to Caleb’s room.
As you quietly open the door, you see him, Nott, and Jester all sitting around a twelve-sided shape, Caleb zoned out staring at it. Jester and Nott shushed you and gestured you to close the door and come sit.
“What is that?” you ask. It looks odd, magic swirling around inside it, and Caleb lifts his finger up.
He goes still, you all go quiet, and as he says, "Father and mother-- I hope I do not let you down," you watch a small gray mote floats into Caleb's chest. He seems to snap back into reality, shocked at your presence.
“Y/N.” He says, a solemn expression taking over his face.
Jester notes the tension, and asks Caleb, “Why did you talk about your Mom and Dad though?” Caleb just stared at her, and you could see him trying to decide whether or not to answer, “Was that a weird question should I have not brought it up?”
“I mean I was wondering the same thing I wasn’t going to say anything.” You say, Nott nodding in agreement.
Caleb rubbed the back of his neck as he said, “Isn’t that a common sentiment? Don’t most people wish to make their parents proud?”
Jester and Nott nodded, agreeing, and you just shrugged.
“If you ever want to talk Caleb, we are super good at talking,” Jester said, smiling wildly, “Goodnight you guys!” she said, and you watched her bounce down the hall.
“Can we help you Y/N?” Nott asked when you didn’t follow Jester.
“Um, yeah.” You took a breath, Caleb clearly didn’t trust you yet, but maybe this would help, “Caleb, could you teach me magic? Or help me get started at least?”
Caleb seemed genuinely surprised at your question, “I can’t promise I’ll be a good teacher, but I’ll try.”
“Awesome,” you said, trying to stay somewhat composed when in your head you were having your own little party, “Goodnight, thanks again, Caleb.”
You left the room, your smile wide, as you passed the stairs, you ran into Fjord going to his own room, “Hey, Y/N. What’s got you so happy?”
“I’m excited for the Harvest Close Festival tomorrow, it’s the only decent part of this city.”
“Riiight. Anyways, night.” He said, unconvinced
“Night Fjord.”
That night, you slept on the floor in Jester and Beau’s room, your face covered and facing the wall. Your true form liked to peek through when you slept, and you knew Beau would never trust you if she saw. Why would she trust a Changling?
The next morning, you’re wakened by Beau’s shouts, making sure you’ve shifted, you spring up, dagger in hand. “Woah Y/N, relax. Jester just got the Fragment and was testing it.”
“Right, uh, sorry.”
Fjord knocks on your door, and you all quickly get ready for the day. The familiar sounds of the Harvest Festival leaking through the walls of the tavern. When you get downstairs, the new owner of the Leaky Tap shows her face, Lauren Schvine.
“I wonder if she knows about the dead person in the basement,” Nott said,
You choked on your breakfast in shock, “I’m sorry, what?”
“Well, it’s more like a skeleton.”
Beau has a negative attitude towards the new owner, seemingly because she wanted to buy the Leaky Tap from her. Once the Nein starts talking about the skeleton, and whether it’s a dead person or a skeleton at this point, you left with Fjord, Molly yelling after you and followed by the others.
You led them down to the Pentamarket, the smells of the festival flooding your senses. You enter the heart of the festival and hear the familiar cries of the Trebuchet vendor, calling on people to play. Slightly farther down is a woman calling “Kings Vault! Kings Vault!” Caleb and Nott head to the Kings Vault table, and you join the others at Trebuchet.
Fjord goes first, declining Jesters offer to pick him up as the guards had just done for a little girl.
The first one, he tosses, and you can tell he threw too far as it smacks the mother on the side of her head. The second one snags on his breastplate, and you wince as the sand flings into Fjord’s face.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this… but let’s try your idea.” He says to Jester, spitting sand out of his mouth.
Jester and Yasha spring into action, getting onto either side and getting ready.
You watch as Fjord gets launched forward, landing face down into the carpet of the game. The crowd around you laughs, and you laugh along with them.
As you laugh, you feel eyes on you in the crowd. Looking around, you see a hooded figure staring at you, and a moment of panic seeps in before Molly steps up to try, and you lose sight of the figure.
Molly has much more luck than Fjord, who is still wiping dirt off his face, as he arcs the sandbag over and it lands perfectly in the basket.
Cheers from the crowd as he splits his turns with Yasha and Jester. Jester steps up first, launching the bag straight up, and comes right down to hit her on her head, dangling off her horn. Yasha only manages to throw it four feet, which is a surprise to you.
Beau was watching you close the whole time, and she noticed the figure as well, and your reaction.
“A fresh Strawberr]y for the victor!” The guardsman yells, handing Mollymauk his winnings. The teifling eats it slowly, making fun of Fjord as he does.
You all start heading over to the Kings Vault stand and are just arriving as Caleb and Nott finish. You all take in your surroundings, everyone seems relaxed and joyful.
“Every year, everyone is so tense. Then it’s the Festival and the mood of the whole city changes.” You say, smiling as two kids with streamers run by.
“They need the catharsis.” Fjord mutters,
“This is quite the party, Y/N,” Molly says, offering you a smile.
You all wonder for a bit, passing mead stalls, an army recruitment table combined with a high-striker game called Titans Grasp, which Yasha and Jester both win, earning themselves a fair bit of money.
Jester seems to smell candied apples and you all follow her to the stall. She buys you all apples, handing you your’s last.
“You didn’t think I forgot about you did you Y/N?” She asks, smile wide, laughing as you take a big bite from the fruit.
Jester suddenly splits off from the group, and you notice her giving a slice to a little girl. Your heart bleeds for a moment as you watch, thinking of how badly you needed that kindness as a child.
You all start splitting off again, looking for specific stalls, and you follow Molly as he “Looks for something gaudy.”
Molly drags you toward a rug cart, grabbing your hand, “Right, which one do you think is the most expensive one here, darling?”
“Are you always such a flirt Mr. Tealeaf?”
“Only when it’s fun.” He whispers in your ear, slinging an arm over your shoulder.
He ends up buying an elaborate rug of the Platinum Dragon, shouting as he slings it over his shoulder “Oh I have fucking plans, people!” before walking away.
The two of you meet up with the rest of the Nein as Nott is firing at three targets. She misses the first two shots she takes, and then absolutely destroys the next seven. She wins a doll of the King, two rats, and two wooden swords.
You, Molly, Beau, and Fjord head over to the military stand, with you keeping close to the back. An arm-wrestling match was in progress as you approached, and the brawny man wins against the soldier.
After his win, he’s offered recruitment into the Righteous Brand, which he declines. Beau then grills the soldier leading for more information, and whether she has to commit more time to the even than she needs to. After Beau is quickly defeated, Yasha takes her turn.
You hold your breath as she clasps the hand of Gunther, the reigning champion. It goes back and forth, and you spot Yasha’s barbarian rage flashing in her eyes as she slams Gunther’s massive head to the table. Cheers rock the crowd as you and the Nein make your way over to where she gets off of the platform. You're able to overhear a bit of the conversation she’s having with the guard.
“Would you be interested in joining the Righteous-”
“No.” She interrupts, walking toward you.
“That was amazing Yasha!” Jester says, bounding up to her.
A man approaches and asks if you’re all looking for work. In the middle of his offer, he looks over at you “I feel like we’ve met before, have you ever been in Nogvurot?”
“Once.” You recognized him immediately, he was there when you were arrested years ago for thievery, so you prayed your disguise had changed enough that he wouldn’t be able to identify you,
“Nothing more you can tell me? You seem familiar, though I’m sure I’ve never seen you before.”
Jester interrupted, “Do you know anything about the missing kids?”
The rest of the conversation became background noise as you remembered what you stole during your brief time in Nugvorut.
The orphanage there was stingy at best with food, and the other kids liked to steal yours. You often spent the day stealing food, but that day it was cold and miserable, so you tried to take shelter in a tavern. You were only sixteen and they didn’t let you in, so you shifted into a dwarf, and you picked a few silver and copper pieces out of some of the patrons. You didn’t know this at the time, but someone had been watching you and waited for you to finish your meal and go outside before arresting you.
There was someone working in the guardhouse with true sight, and they recognized you as the changeling at the orphanage. You had a harder time getting enough food after that, and the matron whipped you and shipped you off to Trostenwald a week later.
You’re still remembering everything as Caleb comes back, dressed in blue and massive glasses. He sees the familiar look in your eyes, he knew where you were. His hand drifted towards your own as he looked toward Darrow, trying to find out if the man set you off somehow.
You snapped to reality, looking down at where Caleb’s thumb was brushing across the back of your hand while he faced forward. You pulled it away, and Caleb turned his head toward you, nodding solemnly.
Darrow leaves, and The Nein starts walking toward the Victory Pit, Caleb sticking in the back with you. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, just some memory.” You sigh, shaking the dark interior of the carriage to Trostenwald from your head, “Not a big deal.”
You know Caleb doesn’t believe you, and for a moment, you want to tell him everything, but you know better. Caleb was just as untrusting as Beauregard.
You all make it to the Victory Pit, hear the rules, and sign up. You’re interrupted by a page, who drags the owner Yadaka to a boot. You see Nott make a box appear around her as she listens into the conversation. When she comes back, you’re shocked at the news.
“We need to get out of town.” You say, running your hand through your hair, “If that recruiter comes looking for Yasha, which he will, she’ll be forced to join.” Molly agrees with you, nodding his head
“It occurs to me that starting tomorrow, it would be more important than ever that we stick together.” Says Caleb,
“All of us? Or just you and Nott”? Jester questions, tilting her head,
“All of us.” He answers, looking at Jester and then you.
The conversation is interrupted by the barker, taking you down to the viewing area with the three other groups.
Everyone is looking out to teh crowd, and you see Dolan, with an agent of the Gentleman watching him nearby. Caleb puts his hood up, and you try to follow his eyes to find out who spooked him. No luck.
The first competitors called upon are the Last Line, who defeats a banderhobb.
Then you and the Mighty Nein face and defeat an otyugh, although it manages to poison Beau and Yasha, who are cured by Jester after the fight. You sit beside Fjord with your head in between your knees. There was a moment where you almost fell, and your disguise fell through, but you were able to drink a potion. You all heal up a bit and watch as the Mountain Makers defeat an ice troll, and the Stubborn Stock defeats a giant crocodile.
During the second round, The Last Line is defeated by two minotaurs.
You and the Mighty Nein face and defeat two winter wolves without serious problems, although most are injured. When you get out of the ring, you’re leaning against Beau as you hobble out and Jester casts Prayer of Healing while you rest.
The Mountain Makers are defeated by two owlbears, and the Stubborn Stock defeats two displacer beasts.
In the final round, only two teams remain, and you enter with the Mighty Nein and watch as a hill giant barrels in.
Your strategy shifts from attacking up close to ranged attack, and you quickly cast Minor Illusion to confuse the creature, Caleb casting Firebolt soon after. The others start using their own ranged attacks. Molly attacks and is instantly rendered unconscious by the giant. Multiple attacks from the Nein later, and Caleb casts Sleep. You cheer as it works, running over with the Nein to finish it off.
As the beast dies, you look over to Caleb, who pulls his hood farther over his face while the crowd screams and you leave the arena.
“Caleb, that was genius.” You say, as the Stubborn Stalk replace you and you hear the cry of a wyvern. They finish their fight, most of the team unconscious by the end of it.
“Raise your arms, for today on this Harvest Close, you are the victors!” Shouts Jermai Kull, and the crowd cheers, throwing flowers and bits of rice down at you.
At the other side of the arena, several people in robes approach, carrying a chest full of the divided gold. You all separate the money, get 200 pieces each. It’s more than you’ve ever had access to, and the amount is a little overwhelming.
As you’re taken back to the holding area, Molly groans, “I don’t suppose there’s a heal spell on the house?”
The clerics rush over, offering up what little they have left of their magic. You receive some healing yourself, thanking the clerics. You are then led to the lounge again for the afterparty. You spend a fair amount of the party chatting with some higher-ups of Zadash, people you had either commit crimes against, for or both. Once the party is over, you all re-group, deciding to stay in Zadash for another 24-hours before leaving. Molly is desperate to leave, and so are you, but Caleb has some things.
Late in the night, you all head to the Pillowtrove for the night, and you pull Caleb aside.
“Who’s here?” You ask, keeping your voice low,
“What?” he asked, his accent thick as he looks you up and down.
“I saw how you were acting in the arena, so I’ll ask again, and I’ll let it go. Whose hear.”
“Nobody. Just some memory. Not a big deal.”
Bastard. Quoting you like that. You enter the pillow trove, and you quickly become drowsy, listening to Jester talk about her new book Tusk Love. You chuckle as Fjord comes in, having been kicked out by Molly and his “guests”. You fall asleep dreamlessly soon after.

Change with the Tides (Part 1/??)
A/N: Hiya! This is a little thing that I wanted to write, where the reader is a changeling wizard/rouge working for the Gentleman and joins the Mighty Nein! This takes place around 2x14-2x16. I’ll probably write it for the whole campaign.
You grew up in the various orphanages of Wildemont, starting in Port Damali, then Alfeild, Nogvurot, Trostenwald, Rexxentrum, and Deastock, eventually ending up in Zadash.
Due to your race, people found it hard to trust you. You didn’t really blame them, you had been picking pockets since you were seven. In Alfeild, you managed to steal a few spellbooks off of a traveller and began teaching yourself magic. Mostly Illusion spells, but you got your hand on some water-based magic as well.
When you grew out of the system, you were in Zadash, so you went about looking for the Gentleman. By the time you were 23, you had a secure career with him.
That is until a group barged into the underground bar, a strange collection of individuals calling themselves the Mighty Nein… but there were only seven.
From your seat at the bar, you couldn’t see them. You subtly put up your usual disguise, a human woman with brown hair and dark eyes, except you keep the hair a platinum blonde, the closest colour to your true form.
Cree noted one of the adventurers, a purple teifling she called Lucien. The man was a literal peacock. In fact, you’re pretty sure you saw a peacock tattoo creeping up his neck. You noted the others. An aloof half-orc, an energetic blue teifling, a massive woman who could probably crush you, a human woman in Cobalt Soul blue, and a human man in dirty brown clothing, sticking close to a small goblin. The goblin surprised you. You were all too aware of what people thought of monstrous races like hers.
The group went to the Gentlemans’ table, and you snickered, sipping on your drink. Then, Clive comes over and leans over the bar, “He needs you.” You sigh, down the rest of your drink, and walk over to the table, knowing that the drink will be paid off later.
“What’s up Boss?” You say as you reach the table, grabbing the chair closest to him. You’re his best employee. He knows that, everyone here knows that. There’s very little you can’t get away with.
“Ah, Y/N. Meet the Mighty Nein. You may recognize those two,” he gestures to the purple teifling and the monk, “as the two who murdered the High-Rictor. They’ve agreed to do me a favour, in exchange for me clearing their names.”
“So you’re the sorry sods he’s making go to that blasted facility,” you turned your head to the Gentleman, “Let me guess, I’m going with them?”
“You are the one who found it.”
“So when do we leave?” You asked, looking back at the group, who all seemed to be talking to one another. All of them except for the half-orc, who was instead watching you.
“Tomorrow, we need to prepare first.”
The Gentleman waved you off, and you went to your bed in the upper part of the Evening Nip, then preparing some things for your mission tomorrow. You went down to the bar, waiting for the Mighty Nein.
They finally arrived, and they were blindfolded and escorted to a dock, where you parted ways with you’re colleagues and rowed down the river with the Mighty Nein. You led them down the river, not talking and very aware that the half-orc and the monk were watching you. The Nein then decides to pull a race, and the goblin uses her ring of water walking. Until she hits a rock.
As she’s being pulled into the boat, you see a dark mantle drop, wrapping around her head, as well as the man and the half-orc. Luckily, you’re able to defeat them with almost no injuries.
“Those weren’t there before, I swear.” You say as the monk woman accuses you of trying to kill them. As she’s yelling at you, she stops and urges everyone to go faster due to rock monsters.
You drift downward before docking and sitting on the gravel beach as the large woman and blue teifling clear the rockslide.
“Mind telling us your name?” the half-orc asks, sitting beside you,
“Y/N,” you say, looking over, “And no, no last name. What about you?”
“I’m Fjord,” he says, then points to his party, “That there’s Beauregard and Jester. Then Mollymauk and Yasha. Those two are Caleb and Nott.” He pointed to where the goblin was braiding flowers into the man’s hair.
“Right. Apologies for the cave-in, when I first discovered this place, my group got attacked, one of them decide to destroy the wall.”
“Not a problem Y/N!” says Jester, clearing away the last rocks, “See, already cleared”
Mollymauk walks over and offers you his hand to helo you get up, as he does, he pulls you close to whisper in your ear, “Do you have any clue who I was?”
Was. Interesting choice of words, Mr. Mollymauk. “No, Cree seemed to though. So whatever little gang you two were in, I certainly wasn’t a member.”
“Something tells me there’s more to you than meets the eye Y/N, and I for one, am interested to find out what.”
Mollymauk back off at my shocked expression, walking away before saying over his shoulder, “And it’s just Molly, dear.”
We go down the stairs, through many trapped rooms (which Nott kept forgetting to check, leaving you to pick up her slack), Fjord almost falls down a pit, before finally reaching a large chamber.
The first thing you notice in the room is a teleportation circle, though it’s broken. You tell this to the Nein, which makes Caleb give you a quizzical look “And how do you know what a broken teleportation circle looks like?”
“I may be nothing more than a thief, but I am somewhat educated.”
You all begin searching around, and eventually, Caleb finds a journal written in Draconic. As you discuss it, the temperature drops and a skeletal form stretches from the group, ghastly skin stretched over its face.
“My secrets are yours.”
After that, you and the Nein launch into battle, and shockingly, you all fight very well together, working in sync.
You watched Jester sink to the ground, your own head pounding from the mental attacks. Molly charged at the undead Siff Dunder, and you shouted “Finish this Mollymauk!” as you ran towards Jester, giving her a healing potion you kept in your pocket.
The temperature drops again, cold energy emerging from a bookshelf. You can physically see Caleb remembering something, his eyes lighting. He mentions a physical form, like will o’ wisps and you swear under your breath as a series of attacks knocks Yasha unconscious. Jester is by her side instantly, healing her, before she and Beauregard pull down the bookshelf.
A large urn stands amongst pots and small cases, and Molly reaches through and destroys the urn. Siff, who was just attacking you and Fjord as you tried to distract it, disintegrates, and you both breathe a sigh of relief.
You all take a bit of time to collect yourself, and Fjord once again sits beside you, “Alright, I need to know. Why no last name?”
“Never got one.” You said, drinking from your waterskin and checking for any injuries.
“Orphan?”
“Yeah”
You notice a flash of something like sympathy on his face, and but in “I don’t need your pity. I’m perfectly fine without parents.”
“I was gonna say me too.”
You look at Fjord, “Right, sorry.”
Fjord looks like he’s about to ask another question, but you’re interrupted by Nott rubbing oil on herself and squeezing through the hole. Yasha just breaks the wall.
Why was that hot? You think to yourself
You see Nott bent over a case with her thieves tools out, trying to open a lock. Two minutes pass and you hear a gas leak and repeated coughing. “Poison,” she croaks, handing out the jewelry she found, even handing you a piece.
Beauregard searches through the urns, finding a spellbook, which she gives to Caleb. He traces some pattern in the air and finishes the spell, looking around the room. Your back is turned, but he gives you a look, nodding at Beau. You’re definitely hiding abilities other than the rouge ones you’ve displayed.
He points out a sword called the Magicians Judge, which Yasha takes. Molly, Jester, Fjord, and Beau leave to investigate further down the river, while you make camp with Caleb and Nott.
“You know magic,” Caleb says after a long stretch of silence. “How?”
A simple question, but you were reluctant to answer, Fjord already knows too much about you. “I stole some books off of a travelling wizard when I was 15. I was going to sell them, but they seemed interesting, so I taught myself.”
“How old are you?” Nott asked in between sips of her flask.
“23.” You answer, resting your head on your bag.
“What spells do you know?”
“Just a few illusions. Makes thievin’ easier.”
The interrogation seemed to stop then, and a few minutes later, the others return, and you all fall asleep.
You dream of being chased through Alfeild after stealing the books. You ran and ran, jumping on carriages until you deemed yourself far enough away. Late nights of learning magic, trying to get a hold on precious components with no money. Slowly learning.
When you woke up, you realized you shouldn’t have slept around strangers, your true form peeking through. You shift slowly back, keeping your cloak wrapped around you.
“Fjord, you have a little something right here.” Jester says, pointing out the dried blood on the corner of his mouth.”
“Oh, yeah, I grind my teeth,” Fjord explains blushing slightly as he wipes it. As he does you notice his tusks are shorter than other half-orcs you’ve seen.
Jester notices it too and starts questioning him about them. Fjord gets nervous and says “When I was younger, they used to make fun of my teeth, so I got rid of the target.”
“The kids at the orphanage?” You ground out, all too familiar with asshole kids
“Yeah, it just kinda became a habit.”
“Did you ever kill them?” Yasha asked, looking very serious,
Nott quickly became concerned “Yasha. Have you ever killed a kid?”
No answer.
Immediately, the Mighty Nein promised that if he grew them out they’d support him. You had a moment then. These people hadn’t known each other long, minus a couple of obvious pairings, but you could tell they were good people. Certainly better than the Gentleman’s goons.
You all make your way up to the Gentleman’s lair, keeping quiet. You’re lost in thought, right up until you take the blindfold off of the Nein. You pull Fjord aside before he gets to the Gentleman.
“I still have to talk to the Boss about it, but would it be alright if I maybe tagged along with you guys for a bit? You seem like good people, and I think I need a change of company.”
“I’d have to talk to the other, but I don’t have a problem with it. You’re a good fighter Y/N, we could definitely use you.”
You nod and wait for the Mighty Nein to finish the meeting with the Gentleman before you sit down with him.
“Hey, Boss?” You say, waiting for permission to speak, “I was thinking, I might try travelling around a bit. I’ve never been good at staying in one place, you know my past. And those Migh-”
The Gentleman held up a hand, and you felt the entire bar fall silent. He was going to say no, you knew it.
“Y/N, you’ve been my best employee for the last several years. Your talents are unmatchable, and I don’t think I’ll ever find a replacement. But I get it. A change of pace is always needed. Go pack up your things, and don’t worry about your bar tab, I’ll pay.” He slid a pouch of gold across the table, “Here’s a little something to start you off.”
Holy shit.
“Thank you, sir.”
The Gentleman nodded, and you ran to pack your things. Fjord said something about the Leaky Tap, so you headed over. Right away, Jester threw her arms around you.
“Welcome to the Mighty Nein!”

BOTW With A Child Care S/O
AN- Here's part two! Sorry it took so long, college started for me so everything else was kinda back burner. This is part 2! Part 1 is Samwise and Aragorn from LOTR
Zelda With A Child Care S/O
You had started courting Princess Zelda when you first moved to Castle Town from Kakariko Village.
You met her while in the castle to get a permit to build a new children's shelter, with all the new Boko goblins running around, fatal encounters were likely, especially for any guards and farmers.
You helped take children off the street, and the house you had been using was tearing at the seams, so you needed a bigger building.
The King permitted you to build, and Zelda helped with the construction, thinking of ways to use the Guardian technology in the building.
Her ideas to use the Guardians in a more domestic way cause for some hilarious shenanigans, one particular incident involving a Cuckoo, a Guardian Sword, and an insane amount of Hylian Rice.
Zelda would do her best to protect the shelter and you, often coming to help with the maintenance of her projects.
While the attacks on Castle Town get more frequent and powerful, she’ll make adjustments to the Guardians, making them attack any monsters that come to your door.
When the worst attacks happen, and the shelter is destroyed, she’ll bring you to the castle, thinking it the safest place for you and the children.
Then the castle is attacked, she’s devastated, and she’ll push herself harder than ever to defeat Ganon.
One hundred years later, after the defeat of Ganon, she’ll come across a pile of skeletons, small, but one larger one holding as many as they can in the corner of the great hall.
Mipha W/ Child Care S/O
Mipha noticed the new building on the outskirts of Zora’s Domain rather quickly, Zora children running throughout with Hylians.
Her curiosity was piqued at the sight of you helping clean a scraped knee, as well as getting into the water to help teach a child to swim.
She’d offer her abilities to help heal as many as possible, although some of the children she could only offer kind words.
When she was selected to be champion, she took this as her chance to ask to court you.
The amount of time she spent at the hospital dwindled, as her duties as champion took up most of her time
She still stopped by on her way to and from Zora’s Domain. Showering you with affection and healing and children who needed it.
Ganon struck, and she was called to Vah Ruta, and bid you farewell, promising to come back.
When Ganon attacked her Divine Beast, her last thoughts were of you.

Dude your fandom list is just like mine!! I'm so excited to see that, so I just had to send in a request!!
If you're fine with multiple fandoms in one ask, how would Aragorn, Samwise gamgee, Zelda (botw) and Mipha react to a s/o who's career is working with hospitalized kids? I'm hoping to start a career in using video games and pop culture as therapy for kids in hospitals and domestic violence shelters, like playing games with them or talking about their favorite cartoons to get their mind off of their pain and troubles. It's a sorta sad line of work, but I love making people happy and sharing my passions with those who might need it.
Sorry if that's too heavy a subject, I really do love seeing new blogs around! Thanks so much in advance hun, I hope you're doing well 💕
Ah thank you for being my first ask!! I decided to split this into 2 parts, LOTR and BOTW being separate.
Aragorn With A Child Care S/O
You met Aragorn when he visited Endoras, where you were caring for a haggle of children while the parents worked.
The children were immediately attracted to him, begging him for stories and to teach them how to swordfight. Meanwhile, he was attracted to you, the way you cared for every child fairly, treating them as your own.
It didn’t take long for you to fall for him either, although he was slow to return the feelings, he knew his odds of surviving the war was low and didn’t want you to get hurt.
You told him it would hurt you more if you were never able to act on your feelings towards him, and eventually he agreed.
When the war started, you left with him to Gondor, and when you finally reached the city, you decided to set up a permanent childrens hospital, as the war had left so many injured.
It took until after he was crowned for Aragorn to discover your hospital, and he was amazed at the amount of effort and money you’d put into the shelter.
Soon you started receiving anonymous donations of money, books, and toys.
Aragorn would feel frustrated that he didn’t know about your hospital sooner. He was King, but more than that, he was your partner. Had the war really caused his ignorance?
One day, he would just bite the bullet and come to see you, apologizing for not being more attentive to what you do during the day. He would ask you to let him sponsor the hospital, so that it could get proper funding.
Soon, it became part of his duties to visit the children at your hospital, telling them stories like he did in Endoras.
With his help, you were able to purchase new equipment and research medicines for the children. And then you opened other hospitals in other cities and towns of man, starting with Endoras.
Samwise Gamgee With A Child Care S/O
You had been dating Sam for a while before he disappeared with Frodo, Merry, and Pippin.
It took you a week of waiting before you decided to pack your bags and find them.
You made it to Bree, and as you were walking past an alleyway, you heard a sniffle. The sound made you stop in your tracks.
Sitting outside of a half-wrecked door was a little human boy, no older than five. He had nasty bruises on his arms, and your heart sank. You had always had a soft spot for children, and you knew you had to save this one.
As you picked up the boy, you saw a tiny bundle of blankets beside him, and a tiny hand reached at you as you bent over to investigate.
Taking the baby in your arms and the boy's hand in your own, you went back to the Shire. As you searched for your house key, you felt the key for Bilbo Baggin’s home in your pocket, which you had due to you cleaning his house for him.
You had access to the biggest hole in the Shire, which currently lay un-inhabited. You brought the children up the hill, opening the green door and tucking the boy in a guest room, and tucking the baby in a basket.
You sat down at the desk to work, surely more children needed help, how could you abandon them.
You wrote lists for groceries, wrote flyers, and worked well into the night. You knew Rosie Cotton, one of your closest friends, would help, you weren’t sure of the other Hobbits though. So you wrote letters. So. Many. Letters.
The next morning, you met the boy properly, learning his name was Buckley, and the baby was his sister, Natalia. Their mother had died, and their father had forgotten about them. You set them up with some food and water, Buckley knowing how to take care of his sister already.
You went all over Hobbiton. The market for more food, the crossing to deliver fliers to Bree and beyond, delivered your letters, and talked to Rosie, who agreed to help when she wasn’t working at the tavern.
When you got home, Buckley was playing with a little cloth doll above Natalia's head, and he tried to help you as much as he could.
Months passed, your shelter growing from Buckley and Natalia to twenty children piled into the hobbit hole. Needless to say, it was completely changed. Some of the other Hobbits had donated clothing, and a few had even gotten human clothes for the bigger kids.
The day Sam and Frodo came back, you were teaching a few of the children the names of the flowers in the garden. You had installed a little bell on the gate and the door, so you could hear new arrivals.
Without really looking, you welcomed them to the shelter, before standing up and seeing them. It took a moment for you to realise who they were, but Sam was already walking toward you with open arms.
A running jump later, and you were both on the ground, laughing and celebrating.
Two seconds later you started scolding him, and despite his best efforts, you still managed to chew him out think Molly Weasleys howler, but in person
Frodo would gift you and Sam his house to keep the shelter running, and Sam would dote on the kids constantly, teaching them how to garden, cook, and telling them all about the “Brave Adventures of Mr. Frodo”
You would both pass on the shelter and retire after Frodo left for the Grey Havens, moving into your old hobbit hole.

Hi!
I’m new to the game of fic-writing and wanted to ask if y’all have any suggestions! My fandoms are:
-Critcal Role
-Marvel
- Arcane
-Witcher (Netflix)
-Harry Potter
-LOTR/Hobbit
-Breath of the Wild
Here are some other things
-No NSFW, not comfy writing it
-No underage romance stuff, cause ew
-Cursing and swears are a-ok, and I will be using them in moderation
-I live for whump tropes so death might happen
-Romance is good, just nothing farther than that
-Any suggestions will be written oldest first, unless i’m not comfortable writing it
