I have this trait ingrained into my soul that abhors the term “as you know.” It’s weak storytelling, weak exposition, and - most of all - weak dialogue.
Which is why whenever someone says it in real life, my immersion just dips. I didn’t even know you could be immersed in real life, let alone un-immersed… it’s like the Truman Show, but if they had to keep recapping every few weeks and gave up on giving the actors tasteful dialogue options; like if Christopherson’s deadbeat kid took up the business because nepotism but didn’t have a single artistic fiber in his body.
“The Fadran Show was so much better before Season 2…” people will say, constantly rolling their eyes at every weak attempt at a reboot. By now the directors couldn’t care less if I walked out altogether, because the ratings have gotten so low that people are watching the news again.
…that took a weird turn

Heretics: har-har, Frodo’s so weak and useless. Sam’s the only real character
Samwise Gamgee:
Tumblr media
I will be a Frodo defender till I die. You guys who are like "well Sam wise Gamgee was the REAL hero and Frodo didn't do almost anything" really don't understand that he was carrying such a magical and evil item of unimaginable power that Gandalf was afraid to touch it in fear it would consume him, and y'all say he's weak? I just want you Samwise Gamgee stans who hate Frodo to know that Sam would not like you one bit.
Mr. Frodo is his best friend for life who he was protecting and caring for as his BEST FRIEND carried the LITERAL EMBODIMENT OF EVIL with him in a trek across the world to destroy it. He watched as he best friend who he loved so dearly was slowly destroyed by the Ring but kept going because someone needed to be strong enough to complete the task and carry the Ring to Mordor. He watched as his friend descended into giving into the Ring at the last moment, when nearly all others would have given in moments after first holding the Ring. He watched as Frodo chose to take on the impossible task and never gave up on the quest, even when the Ring was so heavy the chain was ripping into his skin.
Sam knew how brave Frodo was, and he would stand by his side to help him no matter what. If you said Frodo was weak and pathetic in front of Sam, you'd get a frying pan to the face.

What was a theater major doing in NGL? No one knows. Why did they happen to be among the most powerful nen users in the country? No one knows. But the ant queen ate them, and this was the result.

So Thranduil was old money, but proceeded to invent the rednecks… which means Elrond was a redneck, who invented old money.
It’s come to my attention that the Hobbit Trilogy fandom has ficced Thranduil and Elrond as weird cousins, despite the fact that this makes zero sense culturally.
Elrond is old money. He lives on the same estate as his forebears, keeps a list of viable bachelors for Arwen (Aragorn is not on it), and keeps a personal guard force to defend the place from invaders and salesmen alike.
Thranduil, meanwhile, is the loud American hick that moved in down the street; he keeps hosting block parties and barbecues, and refuses to dress appropriately for the neighborhood golf course. He has the audacity to complain about the Irish frat next door, but never acknowledges the fact that they drunk themselves silly together last football season.
He let his son keep a diseased dog that they’d found on the street, who promptly allowed it to escape once again about a week later; not long after that, the kid signed himself up for a road trip downtown to dispute a tax claim
So the “Fellowship” happens to consist of:
- Four teenagers from the suburbs (Elrond is on good terms with them)
- The loinfruit from one of those Irish chaps (he’s something of an enigma)
- An entrepreneur from downtown who follows Elrond on facebook (he offered to drive, despite the fact that his car broke down on the way there)
- The local homeless guy (he was arrested at an intersection for driving too speedily and too cheap, though he got let off with a warning)
- Elrond’s daughter’s boyfriend (a political science major)
- A literal fucking cowboy

The most ironic aspect of 2001: A Space Odyssey was not in its remarkable lack of appeal to traditional storytelling. It was not that it was built on the assumption that humanity would be unified and well on their way into deep space, nor the choice of year for American development, and not even that it was assumed AI would become far more powerful and sentient than any human;
Rather, it is the simple fact that the many American spacefarers were akin to - of all goddamn things - Old Money.

Boromir’s sacrifice isn’t the greatest in Lord of the Rings. Boromir’s death isn’t the saddest in Lord of the Rings.
Boromir’s death is the most tragic ever put to paper.

Not to mention the one wookie that knew every important jedi ever
you ever think about how in star wars the four heroes that overthrew the tyrannical empire and inagurated a new government are the princess of a tragically destroyed planet, a wisecracking rogue, the last heir of a religious order of wizards who do actual literal magic, and.........a city mayor

I do not, generally, indulge in the practice of spelling correction; however, the proper syntax in this situation would be Buffetted, if indeed you intend to say “blown about” or “tossed,” as opposed to - in some way, shape, or form - simply acted upon (in this case, by Wednesday) in the form of a Buffet.
Whether Buffet maintains a proper english verbular transformation or not stands beyond the scope of my knowledge; however, given the situation, I figure the propriety is less than important.
It is - after all - only Wednesday, my dudes.
