Elrond Week FAQ

What is Elrond Week? Elrond Week is a fandom event dedicated to Elrond Peredhel, a character in Tolkien's works! Elrond is a special character whose life is full and rich, and there is so much in his character to develop and explore!

What can I make? Whatever you want! If the prompts and character inspires you to create something, do it - art, writing, moodboards, playlists, headcanons, and more are welcome and encouraged, even if it's a work in progress! I can't wait to see what you come up with. Just make sure to tag your work as #elrondweek and mention @elrondweek so I can reblog it! It doesn't have to be in English, either - whatever your chosen language is, you are welcome!

Are works inspired by all adaptations of Elrond welcome? Of course - there are plenty of adaptations that feature Elrond, and each of them are unique. Give Elrond some love!

What are the prompts for Elrond Week, and when is it? You can find the prompts here, and the dates are July 10th - 16th!

Can I contribute smut or NSFW? No, I won't accept NSFW works - if you make an NSFW work and tag Elrond Week, I'm not reblogging it. Keep it clean.

Are there any rules I need to follow? I have a rules page here that you can look at - but the rules are pretty simple: be respectful, keep your works sfw, and have fun!

As much as I am excited to see all of your creations for Elrond Week, I do have a few rules that I expect to be followed in order to provide the best experience for all involved:

Be respectful and kind to others. Discrimination, bullying, and harassment will not be condoned.

NSFW will not be allowed. Please keep your entries clean and SFW! I won't reblog NSFW works.

The prompts are just suggestions - if you don't like some of them, feel free to create something of your own!

Tag your entries as #elrondweek and @ me, @elrondweek, so I can see and reblog your works!

Any kind of medium is welcome (except NSFW works, as mentioned above), so get creative!

Hello! I am planning to participate in Elrond Week and would like to know if it is necessary to post something in English? Can I post, for example, poetry in my native language? Are all languages accepted or are there any exceptions? And thanks for organizing this event anyway! Elrond is one of my favorites, I love him with all my heart.

Elrond my one and only<3<3<3

I decided to give him a swallow brooch with a four-point star, symbolizing his mother and Ereinion, and the Feanorian star. I don´t think he was close to Earendil, so there are no relics from there.

The jewelry is silver and mithril since the Feanorian stars are said to be white and red, and I think the Sindar likes silver more as it´s close to the stars. Tolkien made it sound as if the Elvers liked silver more. Lastly, silver was chosen to avoid blending with orange/yellow tones, as I always draw him in.

Since July seems to be the best month to host Elrond Week (and there was a close draw between the first and second half), I have set the dates for the event to be July 10th through July 16th!

Elrond is said to be "as kind as summer", which I absolutely love as a descriptor. I imagine this as resting under a weeping willow by a river bank in the middle of June. Every time you start to feel uncomfortably warm, a gentle breeze sweeps over the cool water and brushes your hair away from your forehead. That feeling of restfulness and comfort, that feeling of the warm sun and gentle breeze that is always there for you, that is the kindness of Elrond Halfelven.

Schedule

In regards to when Elrond Week should take place, I want to find a time that works for everyone and (if possible) doesn't encroach upon any other fandom events. I know there are quite a few other events happening in autumn, so I'm mainly looking at the summer months (though to allow for proper preparation, I won't include June).

I am thinking of creating and hosting a Tolkien fandom event, Elrond Week (a week centered on Elrond's life, personality, relationships, and contributions to Middle-Earth lore), and it was recommended that I let you know, as you're one of the mods of @halfelvenweek and that challenge features Elrond and his kin; what are your thoughts?

Elrond and his family absolutely deserve a week! I think that would be a really cool idea and if you do start it, I would love to take part!
