Not sure if anyone has said this before, but idea: Danny’s core isn’t actually an ice core. It is made of the purest form of ectoplasm. Danny’s “death” was from being exposed to the rift between Earth and the Ghost Zone, not from the electricity or burns. While in most cases being exposed to such a large amount of eco energy as a human would kill someone, because of Danny’s position and the fact the ectoplasm he was exposed to was basically the Ghost Zone itself, he got his powers.

Sub-headcannon to make the rest of this make sense: Whenever a ghost’s form is destroyed on Earth, and as long as their core isn’t completely destroyed, they will reform in the GZ. Its sort of like a backup hard drive; all of their memories and personality traits will be intact up to the point they were destabilized, and they will reform their cores and body from the ectoplasm making up the GZ. So basically, the GZ has a copy of every ghost’s core in its…atmosphere (is that the correct term?).

Back to the main head cannon, because Danny has a core made from the pure form of ectoplasm making up the GZ, he actually has access to at least one of every ghost’s powers. Meaning in the future, he could have the powers of every ghost at his exposure.

Since Danny's partially dead, scavenger animals such as vultures, crows, and coyotes are attracted to him and will follow him everywhere. Also certain animals that are considered "witch familiars" in folklore like black cats are significantly more affectionate to Danny than anyone else. Danny'll be walking to school or something and a black cat will jump out of an alley and immediately start rubbing against his legs and purring. There have been multiple times where Danny will be in the middle of talking to someone outside only for several crows to come out of nowhere and land on his shoulders acting like pets. And yes he gives all these animals head pats and scritches and it's really cute.

Maddie and Jack are both trans. In the episode “Masters of All Time”, Jack reacts with complete and immediate disbelief when Danny claims to be his son, relenting only when presented with the photo of all of them together. Maddie, on the other hand, claims that she hasn’t seen Jack in years, rather than saying that she doesn’t have a child. This implies that Jack would’ve been the one to carry Danny.

So you know how Danny transforms back into a human when his ghost half gets too worn out in battle? What if the reverse is true too. What if Danny’s life is being directly threatened and, as part of his fight or flight response, he transforms into his ‘stronger’ form? Most of the time in dangerous situations, Danny transforms out of his own will, but what if it's the middle of an emergency and he automatically just goes ghost?

Danny Phantom headcanon that one reason people don’t recognize Fenton as Phantom is because, aside from the fact that it’s not a conclusion most people would easily come to, Phantom doesn’t look very human much less like Fenton.

Phantom is much more solid than most ghosts, easier to see than others but he’s always stuck in a state of semi-invisibility in which humans can see right through him. His whole body looks mostly whole but also kind of fuzzed out on the edges like he’s blending slightly in the environment. He’s most solid closest to his core but as you extend outwards, he kinds of fades a bit. He doesn’t come out well in photos because of this, many ghosts can’t be captured at all.

His snow white hair is much the same, being more like a semi-solid mist instead of hair. It can behave like a solid but it moves as if he’s underwater. The locks that float around him look to be the same consistency of a cloud and only he can really touch it. His trademark glowing green eyes are just that, glowing green. They’re practically like flashlights and are an incredibly distracting feature that casts his whole face in an eerie glow. Most people find themselves drawn to them rather than his facial features. But should you look past the eyes, his face is still hard to describe. It’s like looking at an old grainy photograph without defined faces. You can see his expressions, see him move but key features are hard to pin down. Most people would never describe the two boys as being similar, aside from the names. Even the people in the know needed time to get used to Phantom’s unfamiliar, inhuman features.

Danny covering up his ghost fighting injuries and masking away the pain, still showing up to school even with cuts and gashes and broken bones and who knows what else (because he never goes to hospitals and just relies on his two teenage friends for alarmingly serious first aid and while they try their best they’re not exactly doctors), and takes getting beaten up by dash at school on top of all that without ever fighting back

dash doesn’t have any way to know about all the injuries this kid is sporting, so what happens if a punch happens to land in the wrong spot? routine bullying turns into a puncture lung from a broken rib getting knocked out of place, and now fenton’s on the ground coughing up blood and ‘oh god there’s no way I hit him that hard, this is bad, this is so bad’ 

if danny can get alone he can fix himself up, reach into his chest intangibly and rearrange his ribs to their correct positions, then go ghost until his lungs heal enough for him to not die, but there are people around, they saw the whole thing, and everyone’s panicking and he heard someone say they brought a teacher, who then called for an ambulance, and there is no way danny can just blow this one off as nothing, and he’s running out of oxygen fast and his thoughts are muddled together and he doesn’t know what to do except hope he doesn’t die as the world slowly fades to black

team phantom totally had little hints to each other to signal what’s up: like texting Danny and referring to him as “df” to let him know that it wasn’t safe for Phantom to be around for whatever reason. or referring to the thermos as any kind of warm drink: “i could really go for some hot chocolate right now” = “please bring the thermos”. going out on patrol would be like “going to the arcade”. little things that overbearing parents and prying GIW agents wouldn’t see as unusual.
