Oliver point-of-view when he’s being a nervous train wreck is one of the biggest reasons why writing marliver is so fun… he is but a soaking wet cat of a guy and I love him 🫶

the good writing isn’t from my conscious skillful effort, it’s 23 paragraphs of a concept possessing me body and soul and then wondering how the Fuck i’m meant to replicate that for the next several Everything

for the love of god, write all the self-indulgent scenes you want. be utterly shameless about including every last fantasy. i know everyone likes to share quotes and quips about how miserably hard writing is, but please please try thinking of it as a joyful act where you get to be a messy human who makes art rather than some pain filled quest for icy perfection.

The advice of "every word has to advance the plot" is so wild like why are you starving it. If story is craving some good scene that doesn't advance the plot but it's cool and you want it to happen, do it. Feed your story so it can grow strong.

i would kill for the confidence of novelists who write genius-poet characters and then actually write samples of the “genius” poetry in the book. if i were a novelist writing a genius-poet i’d just be like “trust me, the poetry’s real good.”
