drabble I wrote about 2 crows that I ended up making lore for

"I...forgive you.." Sundance croaked through a mouthful of blood, fingers trembling around the shaft of the spear embedded in his stomach. His amber eyes struggled to focus on the dark figure before him, a weak smile crossing his lips. "I hope you know that, River...I'm honoured to have grown with you by my side.." A final, shuddery breath slid past his lips before he fell slack and lifeless, a peaceful smile still painted across his face. Moon River felt nothing, nothing but contempt, the bridge of his nose crumpled in disgust as he processed the scene before him. When the weight of Sundance's pardon finally sunk into his being, his gaze softened. His sharp glare slowly faded into a teary gaze, despite his best efforts to keep his emotions at bay. He remained silent, slowly falling to his knees before the corpse of his opposite, his unwitting tormentor...his brother. Tears began to roll down his face, cutting trails into the blood on Sundance's resting body. "Brother...I'm so sorry, brother.." Slowly, he laid his forehead on the corpse's chest, crying for the loss of his last family amidst the blood and smoke of the battlefield.
