Ancient blue dragon in a somewhat classic design. Thus was the first dragon sketch I did on brown paper going back to basics and playing with colour profiles. Watercolour sketch with white ink worked into with alcohol markers and coloured pencil. Floraelin, floral pseudo kirin, despite delicate forms these elegant herbivores effectively avoid predation. Their bright lustrous petal like fins increase the profile deterring many predators, those that do attack will likely sieze upon loose airy fins setting them off balance and enabling the Floraelin to escape. Predators successful in hunting this beast will find themselves debilitated by poisons deterring them from pursuing any further Floraelin. Maliarmis Dragon. A sadistic weapon of a being, subjected to a constant state of agitation by its cruel prison hide. In extremis the beast may leave its hide but this process is agony and the beast is cursed to a severely diminished lifespan upon surmounting its bonds. . . . This beast is not typical of my monster designs,it is definitely of intelligent design. A barbarous weapon with a cursed existence. The name is derived from Malicious, Armis (latin for weaponry) and Epidermis so roughly it is Malicious weapon skin dragon. While I do like the concept for this beast I'm not a big fan on the piece. Busy celebrating at the beach today but I made a little time to sketch these two creatures. Vaguely continuing on the Xeno-Manticore design trail these two feature some of the key elements but carry their own alien twists. While inking the left hand beast a new form manifested from the base muscle indications, the appearance of two fused front limbs that dominate the front half of the body. When the Rust Dragon is pushed to travel further and further for food it is forced into territorial disputes with neighbouring predators in habitats bordering the Rust Wastes. Incursions of Rust Dragons into border regions has spiked following the incomprehensible sundering and the appearance of anomalous entities obscured by impenetrable rust clouds. . . . The Rust Wastes are an area I have been working on featuring esoteric anomalous humanoid entities performing unknown labours. The already foul lands are beset by further corruption upon the reactivation of long forgotten godly artifice. Top is a chromatic Black dragon, while I do like it I think it needs more work making the tone darker while keeping in the detail. After posting this I think I will go to town on it and see where it goes. . . . Bottom is a pair of terrestrial wyverns with salmon like hormonal morphological changes. During a mass migration to a ancestral breeding location the Saldrosaur change in colour, gain muscle mass and grow ornamental quills. Craghide goralisk, unlikely cousin of the basalisk family. Six limbed heavy set behemoth analogous to earth gorillas. Studies have yet to ascertain whether the rocky hide of this beast is a dermal mineral deposit secreted from the skin or a method of fixing stone shards to the skin using a organic glue or resin. . . .
