I was not "raised" my parents. I was *kept* by my parents. Like a pet or a financial investment. I was *raised* by after school specials that taught me morals, ethics, critical thinking, and empathy. None of these things were taught to me by my parents. They were actively discouraged. As evil as Disney as a company is (and they ARE evil), it scares me to think the type of person I might have become without those shows or the writers who didn't get payed nearly enough or given nearly enough credit; people who made sure kids like me had role models to look up to and who are STILL DOING SO for the next generation of kids.

If I had been "raised" by my parents, I would probably be praising coporations for taking away shade from protestors, giving tax breaks to billionaires in exchange for personal favors, stealing from my employees while denying them a raise, burning trees to save a couple extra bucks in production costs, or any number of other evil things.

I was *raised* by superheroes, books, and shonen anime. The only thing my boomer parents get credit for, is showing me how NOT to live my life. This new generation WILL save the world from those who came before.
