This great charity has one goal, to avoid the need to harm animals for our own medical research. It’s a complex issue but take a look at their site, the statistics and the stories. I have since heard of the terrible ways these experiments progressed. When I was young I thought nothing of these experiments, such was my view of these beings as tools for us to manipulate. My upbringing in a Christian home, my western values and growing up in a country with relatively “high welfare” standards, all of this did NOTHING to engage me with the suffering these experiments caused. I will be telling the stories of these monkeys, their lives and the excuses given by scientists to perform this sadism. To give context to these studies please read Animal Liberation, by Peter Singer. Summary of one applicable part of the book: Despite there being “no room for doubt”, this researcher continued studies on maternal deprivation in the name of “science”, because it was not enough to understand that babies that depend on their mothers have an innate desire to seek out their mothers. They pushed the idea further, “cloth surrogate mothers who would become monsters”. Giving high pressured air jets to , researchers were undeterred by unfortunately not achieving any psychopathology. 🤔😞 They then made the mother rock so violently the babys head and teeth would rattle, the next monster mother physically ejected the baby monkey from clinging to it’s mother. The baby had only one option, to pick itself up and cling to the only mother it has ever known. Time and again suffering and attempting to fulfil their natural desire. Time and again being rejected. They then added sharp spikes that would spring out occasionally, but unsurprisingly the baby would wait for the spikes to succeed and then reattach to their only source of comfort. The next step was a real monkey monster, a damaged, disturbed female monkey who was impregnated in what researchers actually called a “rape rack”.
