I saw this today and it made me happy because Stormlight. But also it made me appreciate even more how applicable and true so much of Brandon Sanderson's made up theology and philosophy are. It's so important to remember the difference between the quests, adventures, and journeys in your life. Don't let yourself become so focused on accomplishing something that you forget to enjoy what's happening, and don't become so lost in your circumstances that you lose sight of your goals. Each day is a quest to accomplish something, but you must take a journey to get there. However, you might have an adventure on the way, so it's okay if it takes a while.

If I could have a day of pure hedonism, I would like to be in the company of a lovely lady with long flowing hair, a 6'5" muscular Amazonian, and a 5'11" dude with a thick beard and a dad bod.

Throughout the day, we'd be eating fresh garlic knots, grilled kebab, stir-fried vegetarian lo mein, celery sticks, crunchy apples, kiwis, soft pears, and mango smoothies.

We'd talk about the narrative themes of One Piece, mechanics of the human immune system, the mathematics of the multivariate Gaussian distribution, and the wonders of the C programming language.

We'd spend the morning brushing each other's hair and beard, then ride a bus to a goat farm where we can feed the adult goats and bottle-feed the kids. We'd then go biking along a shady nature trail and look at flowers. When we get back, I'd wash myself in a warm bubble bath. Then we spend the afternoon and evening playing Mario Kart, Monster Hunter World, and Tales of Berseria while relaxing on a bunch of soft couch cushions. Then we'd all fall asleep while talking about how much fun we had and cracking jokes.

I’m not a teenager anymore. Love doesn’t always find me like I think and hope it might. But it’s there in the good ways fighting the good fight. I’m nothing much to miss, less to love, and always a forgotten phone call away. And I want something I cannot name- the grand gestures, the flowers or something sweet because “I thought of you”, the fingers in my hair, light mindless touches. Someone will want to dance with me one day and I won’t have to beg. That someone will very well be my drunk best friends in a karaoke bar. And the only thing I know right now is that the love I want is the love I have to give. And in other ways it’ll see me through. I wanted to be a gardener and I now live in a jungle. I’ll sit down to finish my novel one day and I’ll realize I’ve written five. The breath of morning will be a balm to my skin and all the light that finds me will make me glow anew like a walking dream. The woman sweeping her porch needs to know that her simple task brings me a sweet tea olive nostalgia. And I’ll remember to compliment her smile. And all the smiles. I’ll be the love I feel is missing and let it all flow through me like a river. I cannot be sad for anything I haven’t first searched my own shelf for. God will give me all that I need in serendipitous time. I’ll diffuse lavender oil for slow easy nights. I’ll whisper candlelit prayers with longing. New days will come and coffee talks and morning songs and evenings painting and all the letters I’ll write and maybe send. The world has yet to show all its cards. I won’t be scared of loving life. I’ll love it unconditionally, without a thought of return. I’ll love it and I’ll mean it and everything will be as it needs to be.

Been thinking about the Ideals of the Windrunners.

So each knight Ideal gives you a new power-- Ideal 1 is initiation, formalizes the bond to your spren; Ideal 2 solidifies your abilities; Ideal 3 gives you your sword; Ideal 4 gives you plate.

So what does Ideal 5 give you?

Also, I've been considering what Ideal 5 could be.

Each Ideal that Kaladin has spoken has been about protection and self sacrifice, each one becoming more and more sacrificial. So I'm thinking possible 5th Ideals could be:

"I will sacrifice those I must to protect those who need it more." (Not my favorite, probably won't be along these lines)

"I accept that sometimes the one who needs protection is myself." (Would be a good arc to overcoming depression and self-deprecation)

But, considering that Brandon has noted that books 6-10 will be about "the survivors" (which we know will include Jasnah but we have no other info about), Kaladin's death is possible. Unfortunately. So it could be (and I think this one is most likely):

"I will give my life to protect those who cannot protect themselves."

Though it could be different, considering the whole "I keep surviving" thing. idk
