Gonna be joining a new D&D campaign shortly, and had to take the opportunity to add a new tiefling to the arsenal. I'm working my way towards a full rainbow, so here's my new purple baby Verity!

She's a paladin and maybe the most tragic character I've ever made. In the words of my DM, "She's gonna burn so bright".

the sheer number of incredibly intricate worlds and characters that i have created with people who i am no longer friends with so that i can no longer talk about those characters or use those settings. i only got half the dog in the divorce do you know what i mean

Y'all the only gun Astarion got was a Nerf gun.

Just some random thoughts:

So, canonly Astarion has a Str 8 (-1) while normally DnD stats have a Str 16 (+3).

But this is the tadpole's doing.

Now I personally like the canon that most of the other vampiric abilities like turning into mist and spider climb were withheld intentionally by Cazador. You're probably more likely to accidentally find out you can run faster and lift heavier things than think about sticking to walls.

Astarion freely admits later that he was surprised (probably scared) when he woke up on a beach in direct sunlight. He's learning how the tadpole changed him. He can cross rivers! Enter homes! It's all so cool. Boi never mentions realizing he's not as strong as he used to be.

In my dUrge/Zephyr playthrough (don't remember which) I went to the crypt door on the beach very early. Of course I had Astarion handle the lock, but something that never happened before was Shadowheart made a comment, something along the lines of "You can open it, just like that?" She's impressed and acknowledging she's learning something new about her companions-- which honestly they should make more comments about skill checks, that was great. His line "Easy." Would have been the perfect reply.

So we go in and now there's all these traps, Astarion also knocks those out. So, so far he can be in the sun and his ego is probably soaring. "Look how impressive I am, picking these locks and navigating these traps. Watch me open this sarcophagus." And the lid doesn't budge. He'd probably be embarrassed and try to play it off.

And actually what we don't talk enough about is how probably all our male companions are likely having the same experience realizing how much they got nerfed that first couple days.

Gale's got a "I used to be Mystra's Chosen, but now she's Barbie and I'm just Ken" moment going on stuck in a rock.

And Wyll's like "I could once summon Hell beasts and take down giants, now I get winded using Eldritch Blast on goblins."

As opposed to our lovely lady loves that-- didn't.

Lae'zel: trained to swing a big sword until her problems aren't problems any more, still deals with her issues sword first

ok but as you may know i am hyperfixating on a dnd series that none of tumblr cares about. it’s 1 For All DND by Deerstalker Pictures on Youtube and it is so funny and chaotic and well-made. i think i saw in a behind the scenes video that they film with a black magic camera (which i have seen in practice before and it’s. like. very good and expensive) and edit with adobe premiere (my beloved).

anyway series concept is that there are four Guys—Patrick the DM and his three players Eva, Antonio, and Nicole. Eva plays a half-elf fighter called Evandra who is tough and cool and scary and also bisexual. she has a sword and armor. sometimes she’s the common sense and sometimes she is Not. is that not top-notch character design? also her hair gets progressively cooler throughout the series which is very amazing of her.

Antonio plays a human bard named Antrius, who is incredibly full of himself, flirts with everyone (including a villain he successfully seduced, two paladins, evandra, his rival bard, a vampire, a random knight, a dwarven couple whose child evandra murdered, himself, etc), carries a lute but also plays everything from a kazoo to an accordion. he once said, “There’s no I in team. There’s an A, though—which stands for Antrius!” before doing a silly dance.

then there’s Nicole’s character, a tiefling sorcerer named Nixie. she can be a bit on the oblivious side—her intelligence score is zero—but she makes up for it with FIRE. like. literal fire. she’s adorable and pink but also she has one plan ever and it’s FIREBALL. also she likes women. when she was a kid she accidentally burnt her whole family to a crisp, probably due to wild magic and repression. disaster.

then there’s Pat the DM. who just wants a nice campaign. he also plays Every NPC (excluding a few roles later on) regardless of species and gender. he has to put up with the party’s shenanigans, which are exhausting, but he clearly does enjoy what he does, which is nice.

of course, this alone is great potential for a series—but what really brings it in for me are the side characters. aka guest players. over the course of the series, there have been a LOT of those: Vlithryn the triton cleric who’s tired of the party, Annandale the warlock who everybody hates, Dargle-Bark the… eccentric druid, Lorienne the paladin (who eva and antonio flirt with both in and out of character), the catlike Rogue who Nixie flirts with and Evandra hates, Mogdar the pacifist half-orc barbarian artist, Godfreya the incredibly amazing paladin, and my personal favorite—Zephyr the air genasi bard, who a) is Antrius’s ex, b) is Antrius’s rival, c) flirts with Antrius despite all this, d) is a bit (read: a lot) of a prick actually, and e) is crushingly insecure and cries himself to sleep.

that last character appears in a one-shot and one full episode, but that doesn’t stop him from being my blorbo. i have also watched the episode and gone over each shot and frame so many times that yesterday i realized that there’s a mistake towards the end where his flute switches hands in the very last shot of him. because i’m at that point where i have to see every facial expression from every character in that (musical!) episode, including nixie and evandra’s glorious background actions.

there’s also another earlier musical episode, which happens to be the best-rated episode of the series. the party’s been captured, and antrius (mis)uses bardic inspiration to get them out of it—and it’s beautiful. it’s just beautiful. wonderful cinematography, wonderful singing, wonderful lyrics, wonderful acting, wonderful script, just wonderful.

the episodes are short which is great if you have a wildly fluctuating attention span like me. the characters are often terrible people but they’re somehow still likable and hilarious. tw for extreme fantasy violence and sex jokes, but it’s a great series with great humor and the rest of tumblr needs to watch it so i can see fanart and fanfic without having to make it myself. you guys would love annandale

F r it would be so amazing!! Im kinda imagining it like it's the Gang playing DnD, with Gobber as DM (you can't tell me he wouldn't, that man put on a whole fanfiction as a peagant lmao) and they just go through these crazy adventures that don't make sense 90% of the time

Hiccup tries to play like a normal person but eventually just says "fuck it" and goes batshit crazy with the rest cuz it's been a long session and he's having fun

Astrid still keeping to the rules!! She and Fishlegs would have the rulebooks laying between them and while Fishy (who just plays calmly and peacefully except when his little companion Meatlug is being threatened) gently nudges the rest into the right direction, Astrid is being that teethgritting perfectionist wanting to have the best experience and the best battle tactics and i love it

The twins going ballistic from the get go!! They would fuck around sm and go the craziest routes. Gobber would get so annoyed because they just. Don't stick to his plot lmao ( the DM of the campaign i was in, aka one of my best friends (looking at you @lightlunara <3) has mentioned smt about carefully plotting a campaign and then having to watch the players fuck the plot up for their own shits and giggles and I felt so sad for her)

Snotlout would just want all the weapons. The best weapons. The goodest weapons. He has money? Either spends it on clothes or weapons. Do we even need food? Argues with Fishy and Astrid a lot cuz "cmon don't you know the word fun? Let it go!". He would get so into the game and maybe even DM the next campaign? That would be so cute. He would also totally introduce it to the kiddos of Berk and later teach Zephyr and Nuffink how to play cuz he feels like they need to know

if you're in the mood i would like to hear about your dnd characters!!!!!!!!

ooooooo you have given me such a treat asking this, i LOVE talking about my characters. i will only talking about characters i have played as and not the backlog i have sitting in reserve. though... maybe another time cause i have some good ones waiting! i'm going to go in order of playing them.

starting with eryn! she's my first dnd character and boy is she. a wood elf ranger, basically a princess. dead mom issues. she was difficult and learning to be a team player. she's my baby girl, i learned how to play dnd with her and she will always have a special place in my heart.

next is isobel! she's my longest running character, started playing her in 2018 (though we're on a hiatus atm but we'll be back at it this year). she is the most made from me character. i have figured stuff out about myself with her. she's my warlock turned wizard.

her story is soooo sad and sometimes i think maybe it's too sad lol. she was chosen for mysterious reasons as a baby by a demon who proceed to kill her parents to isolate her at age 7. the demon befriended her though isobel had no idea what they are. eventually a young couple took her in and her adoptive dad started to teach her magic. at 16 her country fell into turmoil with civil war, most likely caused by the demon (it was, she only suspects this now). in her escape of her home, she made a pact with the demon for magic and unknowingly gave away a piece of her like soul, binding herself to them.

at 19, in a new country, she meets a group of other travellers and they all start working with a rebellion to free the country she's in now. a lot of stuff goes on, she causes some pretty bad things trying to get out from under the influence of the demon. she does try to break her pact, and while that has been unsuccessful, she has rejected the magic she was given and now uses her own powers.

she also has fallen in love with a paladin who is one of the rebellion leaders, this young sweet and very strong girl named zephyr. they are not together, it is super slow burn, and isobel doesn't think she is worthy enough to love her or to be loved by her. it's good. we're all rooting for these cuties.

next is meriele. she's a fun one. my girlies and i briefly played curse of stradh before deciding it was the best fit for us at the time. she's a high elf wizard, using necromancy magic to heal people instead of hurting people. she used to be like a teacher or teacher's assistant at a magic school but left. she ended up traveling with two other people before ending up in the vampire stuuuff. she was fun and messed up but wanting to be good.

finally, there's my girlie sefris. she's a rogue assassin in training and i loooove her. we're playing waterdeep and it's so much fun. sefris is of a family of rogues who are like the spies and secret bodyguards from this noble family. she, the youngest in the family, fell in love with the youngest son of the family she works for. i cannot share his name because the other players are trying to guess it and one of them does follow me here lol (i see you, rose 😘). they're found out and she gets distracted on a job, potentially losing a family member, and the boy's parents send her on a job to waterdeep to like prove her dedication to them and her family. she meets two very fun ladies in waterdeep and gets into a lot of fun shenanigans and now the three of them own a tavern. i looooove sefris she's a lot of fun to play. she's my first not good aligned character (chaotic neutral) and it's a fun change. this campaign is also on a little hiatus and i cannot wait to get back to it. we at one point went to an opera and the opera was the story of eryn's group lol.

SJ:

while it's not explicitly written into the fic, SJ is actually demi-romantic as well as asexual. It's why she took so long to realize she wanted to be more than friends with Harvey, they needed to develop that bond and trust first before she was able to see him as a romantic option.

SJ teaches Harvey to play Minecraft. They have their own server together. (Harvey mostly builds things and takes care of animals while SJ mines and fights the monsters for him)

SJ knows how to play piano. (Zephyr wanted them to get along better, so he got Elliott to teach SJ piano as a way for them to spend time together)

SJ got her name from that kid in The Blind Side because I thought the name SJ sounded cool XD

Zephyr:

I've probably said this before but I literally can't find the post on my own blog so I'm gonna say it again. Zephyr was actually based on a DnD character I made for a campaign that never got started. It was a cyberpunk themed campaign, so that's why his last name is V, and he was a cybernetically enhanced human/wizard. Which is ironic, because he's basically my only fully-human OC 😅

Zephyr got his name from fantasynamegenerator.com because I wanted a cool robot name. To explain it in stardew, I headcanon that his mom wanted a "Unique" name for her son so she named him Zephyr. (Also since people have asked me this, it's pronounced 'Zeff-er' in case you were wondering)

SJ was the first person Zephyr came out to when he started identifying as bisexual. (He knew for a while, but didn't actually tell anyone right away) Zephyr knew his parents wouldn't approve, so he decided to tell his sister instead. In return, Zephyr was the first person SJ told when she realized she was ace.

Zephyr has done art studies of Elliott. After they start dating, Elliott offers to be a live model for him.

Isaac:

Isaac is in his early 30's, about 6 feet tall, and he was originally supposed to be an OC for Haunted Chocolatier, but I wanted him to have a stardew backstory so I added him into the main fic. (Yes I already have fics planned for when HC comes out XD)

I don't have a face-claim for him but I made him on the sims before I made his in-game sprite/portrait. He looks like this! (His eyes were originally supposed to be grey but I am still new to pixel art so they're brown, for now...)

I'm still developing his story alongside the others, so I don't have a ton of lore for him yet, but it's coming!

JS:

JS (Jess) is an actual save file that I made in order to do the Joja route in the game. She was supposed to be the Anti-SJ and I'm not creative with names so I named her JS. Her full name is Jessica Sharp.

JS was the reason I first went for Harvey in the game XD I actually married Sebastian in my first ever save file, but after going through all the bachelor's routes on the joja file, I just fell in love with Harvey and he is best boy.

If you count each sentence spoken by JS in "Everest Farm", 22 of those sentences were lies.

JS is an only child in the family she was adopted into.

Despite SJ being asexual, JS is straight (And my only straight OC)

OKAY SO- my first dnd character is a Tiefling rogue named Arlo (they/them)! They ran away from home bc their parents weren't supportive, they've stolen a lot of stuff, and overall are a chaotic little shit. I haven't played them in a while tho :<

Also I have two half orc barbarians because I just like orcs and barbs are fun to play!

First one is Sallie (she/her), she got banished from home because she killed someone (in her defense, they were trying to kill her so they could get with her wife so), and now travels with a group of bastards (affectionate). Also she got a girlfriend who's a milf and so understanding I cry. She's from a close friend's campaign that is so fucking amazing they have homebrewed so much cool shit <33

THE SECOND ONE,,,,her name is Dara!! She has the Feylost background!! She got taken by the fey when she was two years old, her family never noticed that she was missing until she was returned seven years later. Since then she kinda became like...a family outcast. Except she's unaware of how shit her family is and likes traveling the world. And she's kind've a bimbo tbh. I love her so much. She hasn't been played in a proper campaign since I got kicked from my last dnd group tho :(. I made a like...sandbox world where my friends and I get to play characters who got stuck in Wonderland. It's fun!!

OKAY I WOULD RAMBLE MORE ABOUT CHARACTERS BUT I MUST RESTRAIN MYSELF- BUT!! I HAVE A CAMPAIGN!!! So it's a horror steampunk campaign, it's got biblically accurate angels in the sky when it's cloudy and a bunch of other horror stuff hehe :> Another cool thing about is that me and my co-DM for it took inspo from The Mandela Catalogue so,,,do with that info what you will! I also have a Sanity system (totally didn't rip off the one from the Call of Cthulu module-) and it's been going great. ANd by great I mean I have dealt Sanity damage :) Where we are right now is a charity ball to support the troops who're off fighting in a war I totally have lore for! It's a masquerade too. We aren't there yet but I'm excited for it!!

I have another campaign that hasn't started since I'm focused on my horror one! It's a Western one with lots of world exploration and lore for people to find. I also made up all the gods for that campaign and I'm so proud of them all-

Here is my new DND character! His name is Cecil Theon Grimore Zephyr Beauregarde. (Yes thats the full name). He’s pompous and dramatic. Imagine if Vincent Valentine and Hamlet merged. He is looking for a muse in his life, something to spark his invention or creativeness.

it's update day and i haven't figured out which kid i want to play on the new farm argh. all i know about the new layout is that there's blue grass that animals love and you can start with a coop, so. blue and animals.

easy answer is 'play charlie again' but i've done them like at least once on pc and once on my switch and i don't need to play them AGAIN. if i really want to see new stuff on them i can just load up their existing saves. for the other kids in that 'verse, i've also got parker who would hate running a farm, rhys who i've done before, and sparrow who hates people so they wouldn't be a fun fit for the game. so none of them

out of the rescueverse kids, asya is my strongest contender, though she exists in the fallen farm we've got going. i've got an ongoing save for ivan for this dumb au of mine and that's the only version i'm interested in rn for him. anya's not the farm type. sergey would hate the manual labor. i'm really just not interested in playing as cian. outside of that group, no real interest in throwing anyone else on a farm.

dnd kids! starting with the pc list, kids i've actually played or had plans to play. finley legit is a farm girl but i'm not interested. niamh's a city girl and also i'd like to play someone where i can romance a villager. zanlamin might work but idk if i'd like to humanize him or just make a weird red boy running around, and he wouldn't have pointed ears. wait zanlamin's aro isn't he, i ask, as if i don't have the sheet up as i'm talking about it, and yes he's aro, that'd be a no-romance run. so nevermind lol. zenith could have fun on a farm, he could have fun most anywhere, zenith is always a possibility and i always want to play him more lol he's technically functionally aro but he is down for romance, but idk. as the kid i'm currently playing, mik could also be fun, though he's not necessarily the farming type and he's not that interested in animals so i feel like the new layout is kinda wasted on him.

for extra dnd kids... no one is super sticking out to me. i could do a younger version of naevys, the woman who finds zenith. that could be fun. again, either gotta humanize her or make her gray without elf ears tho. i always wanna think about merri lately but he's not a great fit for this game and also the tattoos, can't give him his tattoos. he does love animals though!

other ocs!! i used to put zephyr in video games all the time, but he's more fun to force into rpg roles. not interested in anyone from pbjverse. i could see asim doing well on the farm but idk. he's a maybe i guess, not too enthusiastic about that. deacon is just funny to me, werewolf running a farm. i could spin achlys as this being another life of his with another host, like i have his hosts established already but y'know. AUs. like no yeah i'm totally this guy's grandkid, yeah, don't worry about it. for trverse, magali was my main oc overall for a long time, she could be fun! no interest in anyone else there. for vg fancharacters i'd only really consider abaddon and. hm. we'll consider. she'd work better on the monster farm is the only thing so maybe i'll play her another time. and taking a look at my 'other' list, no one super sticks out.
