the great thing about loving sapphic ships in an aspec point of view is that I value their friendship above all else. So as long as they continue to have scenes together, especially where they’re becoming best friends, I’m happy nonetheless. Even if they’re not canon, the friendship aspect is what drew me to the ship so I’m able to be happy knowing their best friends in canon and that in my own delusional head they also have gay tension and later a realization they may want to be more. But not in an overt romantic way cause that’s the aroace agenda I’m spreading here lmao

"April, where are you, love bug? We have to get going?" This was Cordelia's second lap around the bottom floor of the academy and April was nowhere to be found. Misty was in charge of searching outside.
April couldn't have possibly made it up the huge staircase by herself. But at this point, it didn't hurt to try. She pushed her doubts away and completed her journey up the stairs. When she made it to the top, she realized, it was far to long for April to walk up. She scratched this idea and turned back around on her heels. But then she heard giggles down the hall.
"April," Cordelia called for what could've been the trillionth time in the past half hour. The three of them had to head to a doctors appointment that Cordelia scheduled for April. They decided, after missing three years, it was time to start her yearly check-ups.
The laughter lead her to Madison's room, where the door was wide open and there was another laugh accompanying her daughter. Cordelia stood in the doorway, hands down at her sides. Her face settled, finally. And she felt relief wash over her that April was okay.
Madison and April sat on the movie stars bed. They both stared back at the older woman until April broke the silence. "Mommy! Mommy! Look at fingers!"
Little legs carried the young girl to her mother. She extended arms out in front of her and spread her fingers like jazz-hands. Lavender nail polishes coated her nails that was far too neat for any three year old to achieve.
Cordelia looked up at Madison, then back down at her daughter. "They look so pretty, baby! Who painted them?"
April's smile grew wider as she spoke, "Madi!" She exclaimed. "Said I can do her makeup too!"
She didn't question anything because she didn't want to make Madison uncomfortable; this was an entirely new territory to Madison. She simply smiled at the younger witch who smirked back at her. "That's awesome, bug! How about we go to the doctors and you can do Madison's makeup right when we get back home?"
The little swamp witches eyebrows creased. She pouted. "But— but I was havin' fun with Madi." Her bottom lip trembled. Misty says she picked up that adorable habit from Cordelia.
"You can have fun once we get back home, baby. It'll be super quick. I promise." Cordelia put out her hand, hoping it was enough for her daughter to be convinced. She didn't take it.
April turned back around, faced Madison who was still sitting on her own bed. "Come here," Madison says. Cordelia doesn't say anything. She's curious as to where this is going.
April takes herself back over to Madison. The little girls places herself onto Madison's lap and the young blonde witch doesn't even grimace at the child's closeness. "Everyone has to go to the doctors."
"Even you?"
"Even me. Or else you could get super sick if you don't go. Trust me."
April frowned at this but certainly considered it. Madison was slowly convincing her and Cordelia had never been more confused. "You come? I'm scared," April said, pouting further. She looked at Madison with glassy eyes and something in Madi completely melted.
"I can come," her usual cold voice became ever so soft. For a moment, she forgot Cordelia was standing there. When she remembered, she cringed entirely, but relaxed when she only saw the supreme softly smiling at the encounter. "There's nothing to be scared of."
Madison had eventually found herself in the back seat of Cordelia's car with April. As much as she would've fought for the passenger seat per usual, she didn't even make a peep when April pulled her into the back. Misty finally got dibs and Madison had her own little friend. They all won.
They finally arrived at the children's clinic. April shuddered when she saw the huge building. "Mama," the little girl whimper and then pushed out a few tears with a huff, "I don't wanna go mommy."
"I know, sweet girl. It'll be super quick and then you can get a lollipop after!" Cordelia say's, making her voice high-pitched to try and persuade the child. It didn't work and everything she or Misty would say would go right out her ears.
Cordelia parked and when April felt the car come to a stop, she completely lost it. "Shh," Madison cooed. Misty and Cordelia both looked at each other, puzzled. Most certainly shocked when April did begin to quiet down. "It's okay."
"Don't wanna go!"
"Why not? You get a lollipop after and the doctor uses these tools to hear your heartbeat; it sounds like a song almost!" Madison spoke slowly, softly. Aprils loud cries turned into loud breathing from her tears blocking her nose. She rubbed her eyes with her fists.
"Promise?"
"Promise. And then you can do my makeup right when we get home." Madison letting other people do her makeup or even put their hands on her for that matter was like the chance of it raining cats. April was just like a breath of fresh air. She was fun to be around and Madison couldn't bring herself to pull out her usual bitchy demeanor around her.
Misty opened the back doors of the car and unbuckled Aprils seatbelt, she went to go pick her up, but her hands were batted away. "No. I want Madi."
The cajun witch looked over at Cordelia and they both smirked. "Ya new best friend?" Misty brushed her finger over her little girls cheek. April smiled, big and dopey. And then she nodded.
-
After about twenty minutes, April was skipping out of the doctors office with a small lollipop in one hand and Madison's hand in the other. There was only a single bump in the road; April having to get her first shot. But luckily, Madison was there to distract her. And she had her two mothers there as well.
When they eventually arrived back home, April was immediately tugging Madison into the house, getting inpatient when she would take longer than April wanted.
Cordelia and Misty sat there for a moment, watching their daughter sprint into the house with the younger witch, before Misty finally spoke up, "What the fuck," was all she said. Lightheartedly, and then they both airily laughed.
Madison and April hadn't interacted much since they arrived. Everyone thought the little girl would be afraid of Madison. Or that Madison would just be a bad influence and awfully ignorant to her. But now, they were inseparable. And atop of that, Neither Cordelia or Misty had heard the young witch curse or say anything that tiny ears should not be hearing.
"I'm so confused," Cordelia said, "when did they become best friends?"
"I have absolutely no clue. Should we be concerned?” Misty finally turned to her girlfriend. They were simply joking; they knew Madison didn't have it in her to hurt the little girl in any way possible. Maybe she was just simply turning over a new leaf; learning to become a better version of herself.
"Well, that means we have more alone time," Cordelia smirked. She raised a single dark eyebrow at the cajun. Misty's smile grew deeper and she blushed, "you know, she'll probably be distracted doing makeup with Madison for a few hours..."
Silence filled they car, they both gazed into each others eye, deeply, until Misty finally broke; grabbed her face and kissed her.
-
"Here, so you're going to put the blush on my cheeks, right here." Madison held the girls hand with the brush as she slid it across her cheek bone. April smiled at the sudden pop of pink on the witches cheek. "Just not too much. I don't want to look like a clown."
"Gonna make you look like a clown," April said, smiling big and mischievous. She patted the brush slightly harder, not too hard, but Madison could already feel the awful amount of powder on her face.
Typically, she would get mad, and yell, and storm out. But instead, she smiled. She chuckled, "I thought we were doing a natural look?" She knew the girls would tease her much later, but she couldn't care less in the moment. She wanted to make April happy. It was almost like she was living the childhood she never had through April. April was the little girl that she was never allowed to be. She couldn't hurt her feelings like everyone did to baby Madison.
"Change mind? Want to use this on eyes!" April pointed to the bright purple color in the palette. She was still learning her colors, still learning to identify the names. She wasn't quite there yet.
Madison simply smiled again and spoke softly, "Okay but only on my eyes please."
April picked up one of the small brushes and placed the tip onto the purple eyeshadow the best she could. She reached up, standing atop of a steady chair so she could apply it to Madison's eyelids. Madison's held Aprils back, cautious so she wouldn’t fall. She never thought she would be so protective over a child, protective over anyone at that.
Madison could feel the eyeshadow being lazily put around her eyes but she didn't dare complain about it. April eventually finished and they went on to complete the look with lipstick. "Okay, I have pink, red, neutral?"
"Pink! Pink, pink," April chanted.
Madison helped the young girl open the lipstick. She puckered her lips, making it easier for April to apply. The lipstick wand went on her lips and around them as well. She cringed at the feeling of it on her skin but didn't show any falter in her unusual calm demeanor.
"Finished?” Madison asked when the little girl moved back slightly. She nodded and smiled at her work. Madison's heart warmed. She too loved doing makeup when she was little, she just didn't have anyone to do it on.
Madison looked into a mirror. There was certain makeup that shouldn't be in certain parts of her face. But April was too young for Madison to crush her feelings. She could give her constructive criticism when she got a little older. For now, she just wanted April to enjoy it and have fun.
"It look's beautiful," Madison said instead, and she could tell, by the way that Aprils face lit up, that she truly appreciated the compliment.
"Gotta show mommies!" And of course Madison did not want to be seen with this all over her face, but she had no choice when she was being tugged out of her bedroom door. She thought she was partially saved when she didn't see any of the girls in the hall, but then she was lead into the living room that not only Aprils mothers were, but also Zoe and Queenie along with Mallory too.
Her face flushed, cheeks turning an even deeper shade of red mixed with the extremely bright pink blush.
"Mommies look! Did Madi's makeup!" Cordelia smirked and bit on her bottom lip. It was comically that April was slowly shattering Madison's tough demeanor that she'd been trying to since she met her.
"Wow baby! You did so good," Cordelia said, and while sitting on the couch, grabbed April and tugged her into her lap, playfully. "Better than all of us, little makeup artist!"
Cordelia kissed Aprils keep, making the girl squeal. Misty leaned over and did the exact same thing. "That's some talent, Darlin! Where'd ya get those skills?"
"Madi showed me!" All eyes in the room flicked back over to the movie star. And with the humiliation yet to disappear, Madison took a deep breath and smiled.
"Wow, someone's got a soft spot," Zoe teased.
"Yeah whatever. I had nothing better to do." Every woman in that room knew that wasn't true. Madison could fill her day with plans if she'd like. She's Madison Montgomery. Nevertheless, she chose to spend it with April. Chose to make her feel special and loved. And it most certainly wouldn't be the last time.
